Toby and Chilly Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one mash Up out.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
There's always something to feel good about before five o'clock
in the morning.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
What is it for you?

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Eight six six ninety two, seven forty three sixty one
is the number And since you got to set is
preset number one on your iHeart app, you might as
well use that up to tap the talk back microphone
and jump into the conversation. Feeling good this morning at
ninety seven point one washup m because.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
I had a dream.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
I had a dream last night and I haven't been
sleeping well because I've had these like pseudo cast things
on my legs. This long story, I don't want to
get into it and don't want to delabor the point
because it's really not about me, it's about you. But
having dreams is something that we can all relate to.
And I had a dream this that I woke up
this morning and they were gone, and that I was, like,

(00:46):
you know, able to get out of bed and not
worry about them and having balance and all of this
other stuff because they're awkward and they make things very
very interesting in real life.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
But alas it was only just a dream. But it
was a.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Good dream, Okay, good And when you have a good
dream about something like that, you embrace it.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
So that's why I'm feeling good this morning. Even though
I didn't get very much sleep, I still dreamed and
that's a good thing. Yes, what about you.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
I'm feeling good because I know I usually don't say
this about rain, but it's helping to melt the snow,
and it's going to be a mild day and for
the most part, a lot of kids back in school.
I will say, Fakier and Fredericksburg City School are two
hours late, and Spotsvania's closed. But compared to yesterday, this
is the quickest turnaround, if I'm not mistaken, from having
no school to write back to school. Usually it kind

(01:35):
of transitions to a two hour delay and then they
finally go you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Yeah, it wasn't like a really intense super snow except
for in the outlying areas where you guys are still
delayed today.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
And also it was milder, so there was a lot
of meltage. And the snow plow came to our call
to sack on this day of Toby, just.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Time for another another weather maker.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
Yeah, well supposedly. Sometimes I'm in the round the twentieth
who knows.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
I mean, I don't even believe. I don't even know
what the weekend is supposed to bring.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
But I hear it's got rain and some kind of
interesting precipitation.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
But you know what the weather will be.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
What it is, you can't control it, so you just
have to embrace it, yeah, and feel good about it.
And the little wins when you can get them. So
if you've got one, feel free to share it with us.
In the meantime, welcome to Toby and Chilly in the
Morning for today, the thirteenth day Valentine's Day eve in

My ex boyfriend and I we went snow tubing, just
to have a different experience, you know, versus dinner or something,
and I broke my ankle and had to have surgery.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Was had to go in an ambo from.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
Ski patrol surgery, and I still have effects from of
it from today, even well twenty years later.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
The gift that keeps on giving. You'll never forget that
X exactly.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Was it because of that that y'all broke up?

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Or it just fizzled for different reasons, like did he
not show up for you?

Speaker 5 (03:37):
No?

Speaker 1 (03:37):
No, No, it's fizzle for other reasons. I'll never forget
that Valentine's Day?

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Was it an ominous sign, an ominous kind of precursor
of things to come?

Speaker 5 (03:49):
One?

Speaker 4 (03:51):
It was a very symbolic break of the ankle. I'm
breaking the heart.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
A couple months later.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Kayla, you said that your ankle still hasn't completely healed.
Please tell us that your broken heart did eventually heugh.

Speaker 5 (04:03):
Oh, happily married.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
We just had a baby. Everything's well on my end.

Speaker 3 (04:07):

of Things and shares it with you all to get

through some stuff. And I know a few federal employees
in my life are going through through some things. And
maybe you're a contractor and you're facing some things.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
It is what it is.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
There are things that happen, and Robert Frost says, the
the best way out is always through. Robert Frost says,
the best way out is always through. Yeah, it stinks
sometimes you gotta because you gotta go through what seems
like it's unbelievable, unbearable, Like you're like, why.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Is this happening to me? It's not even fair?

Speaker 2 (05:17):
But you know what, the best way out, the best
way to get through it is to just go through it.
You know, put on the football pads, drop your helmet
and plow through.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
You'll make it to the other side. You just have
to believe that.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
So claim the promise today, Robert Frost, the best way
out is always through. Hopefully that helped, and if it did,
maybe it'll help somebody else. You can find it to

Speaker 6 (08:00):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour Top Stories presented by
Celsius Energy Drinks. President Trump's employee buyout plan is now
back on the table for roughly two million federal workers.
A judge issued a temporary freeze on the offer, but
then yesterday that same judge announced the labor Union's lacked
legal standing in their lawsuits. Meanwhile, the President says he's

(08:23):
spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin and that they will
immediately start negotiations related to ending the Russia Ukraine War.
The Kennedy Center's board voted unanimously to elect Trump to
be its new cherry yesterday, as the president reshapes the
center's governing body and performances, moving away from what he

(08:43):
views as quote woke culture. A man is recovering from
injuries after he was removed from a metro station vet shaft.
The man reportedly entered a tunnel at the vans UDC
station and was later found inside the shaft.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
WSSC Water officially lifted its boil water advisory yesterday for
customers in Prince George's County after a water main break.
So now the customers are urged to flush their pipes,
starting with the sink faucet on the lowest floor. A
bill that would have allowed the possible construction of a
casino in Tyson's Corner is apparently done for this year.

(09:20):
The House Appropriations Committee declined to vote on that bill yesterday,
and flu cases are surging across the country, with the
CDC saying that they are at their highest level in
fifteen years. Influenza has led to more than three hundred
thousand hospitalizations and about thirteen thousand deaths forecast today. Yes,
we've got some rain this morning. It is going to

(09:43):
clear out. It's going to be sunny, but very windy.
High's in the mid fifties right now. Thirty three in
false Church.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one
is the number C you can call to get involved,
because next we're going to talk about intimacy. That's right,
Bounce Bound Bound intimacy and singles wh apparently get intimate
after this date. The number might surprise you or maybe not.
We'll get into it coming up in minutes. Stay with

(10:10):
Toby and Chili in the morning. Gonna speak in a
way that'll fly right over the little ears that might
be around. It's ninety seven point one wash FM, Toby
and Chill in the morning. We're talking about intimacy. There's
research out that says that people wait until like after
three point five dates to get intimate with somebody rounded up,
it's four wow. Or if you want a low ball,

(10:31):
it's after the third So somewhere between the third and
fourth date, that's when, according to this research, people get
intimate eight six, six, nineteen seven, forty three sixty one.
It's the number of talkbacks wide open too. If you
have some thoughts on this, Chili, do you think that
that number is accurate?

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Is it a little too soon, a little too late?

Speaker 4 (10:49):
Well, personally, that feels very fast. I wasn't getting intimate
after that many dates. But even if I were to
be single again, I'm not the type of person that
gets intimate unless we're exclusive, and I don't know that
would be exclusive after just a couple of dates, Do
you know what I'm saying? Sure, that's just how I am,

(11:11):
And you've clearly had way more relationships.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
Judging your respect, I respect that Chile.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
I respect that you know you chose to wait the
intimacy thing. I just didn't make the same choice. That's
right number to me. You know, four just seems entirely
too long. Three seems maybe a little more realistic. But
I think if I were to assign a number to
my own life based on my own situations, yes, it

(11:40):
would probably be around one.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
To maybe two.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
It really and again the great variable is it really
depended on who I was with and the heat of
the moment, to quote the eighties song.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
And you certainly didn't need exclusivity to do any of
these things.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
And I'm not saying that I am the most proud
of it. I think that as I go back and
I I rethink my life, and maybe you can relate
listening to us here at ninety seven point one watch FM.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
There are things that you did.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
When you were younger that maybe now, as you get
older and wiser in life and more experience in life,
you look back on and you think to yourself, maybe
I would have done that differently. Maybe I would have
done some things differently, maybe I would have taken my time.
But again, hey, can't go back and change the past.
So one to two, okay.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
One to two is the number, okay, And I would
maybe save ten. So there is.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Chili with ten, me with one and two. I love it,
and somewhere and all of that is you crazy.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
But if you have thoughts, we love hearing from you.
Tap the talk back microphone to speak out.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
In the meantime, Shelby and chills, nearly impossible question.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
So if you've learned that, why don't we learn something
new and gets you some tickets to see Kylie Minogue
this morning?

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Eight is that right? That's right?

Speaker 5 (12:54):
Right?

Speaker 4 (12:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (12:55):
Eight six six nineteen seven forty three sixty one is
the number. If you want to play, it's time for
the game.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
So it's the question, ten percent of people quit their
jobs by doing this or in this way? What is it?

Speaker 2 (13:07):
Ooh, eight six six nine two seven forty three sixty one?
Have you quit a job? Did you do it in
a certain way? Think about that? Now here's the question again.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
Ten percent of people quit their jobs by doing this?
What is it?

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Call us now tell us your guests. If you get
it right, you're going to see Kylie Minogue when she
comes to town. The numbers eight six, six, ninet two
seven forty three sixty one. It is your nearly impossible
question for this Thursday, February thirteenth, The game is on.
Let's learn something together coming up if you guess right,
And with.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
Toby and Chilli's nearly impossible question and.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
In DC, good morning, how you doing on this Valentine's Day?

Speaker 5 (13:44):
Eve?

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Good morning, I'm great, Good morning, and welcome to Toby
and Chili in the morning. Hopefully everything is good for
you and your valentine as we get into what tomorrow
may bring. However, it's time to take care of this business.
We call your nearly impossible question.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
If you missed it.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
The questionquestion is ten percent of people quit their jobs
by doing it this way. What is it? I guess
that people are quitting a job by text message?

Speaker 3 (14:09):
Now have you ever done so? Do you know anybody
who has? And what were they thinking?

Speaker 6 (14:15):
I haven't done this.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
I had fun to do it, and they, you know,
get pt up with a job.

Speaker 5 (14:18):
They don't want to go up, and they don't even
want to.

Speaker 4 (14:21):
Get the people they work with anymore.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
That would be don't you think that would be a
note in somebody's file and would come up next time,
you know, like maybe if they get called for a
reference or whatever. I mean, I would remember that if
I were hiring manager, Oh you quit your job via
text message? That tells me a lot about you.

Speaker 4 (14:37):
That's probably they're not going to use them as a reference.
They're out of there, That's what I'm thinking.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
You're not putting them as a reference, right, You're not
thinking of them ever again.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
Well, that's a great guess and it's also the correct
answer this morning.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
Congrats, no way, I'm excited.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
We never called in before. Well, congratulations, welcome to winning
with our nearly impossible question. Now you've got tickets to
go see Kylie Minoga all because you knew that people
are quitting over text message.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
Who knew? Right?

Speaker 4 (15:05):
He knew ed new?

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Well, I enjoy the show from ninety seven point one
wash FM. Stay right there and remember more tickets tomorrow
morning to see Kylie Minogue with another round of your
nearly impossible question.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
You need the news. Top stories at the top of
the hour.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Next Top Stories top of the hour.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
A federal judge says President Trump's employee buyout plan can resume.
A judge had issued a freeze on the plan, but
now the offer is back on the table for millions
of federal workers. The President will reportedly sign an executive
order addressing violent crime and homelessness in DC. The order

(15:49):
will reportedly direct prosecutors to pursue tougher penalties for crimes
involving guns, while also ordering the clearing of homeless camps
in the district. W u SSC Water has lifted a
boil water advisory for customers in southern Prince George's County
in the area of four ninety five and Route two fourteen.
Customers in the affected area should open up their faucets

(16:11):
and let their water run for up to five minutes
to flush them out. The Watergate Hotel is notifying guests
about a data breach that happened last April. The hotel
says that names social security numbers, financial account information, and
also other data may have been exposed. Several brands of
canned tuna sold at stores like Trader Joe's and Costco.

(16:34):
They've been recalled because they might be contaminated with a
type of bacteria that causes botulism, a potentially deadly form
of food poisoning. And you know, taking a nap is
one of life's little pleasures. Well, according to a recent survey,
one forty two pm that is the perfect time of
day to take a nap, and the perfect length of

(16:56):
that nap, according to respondents, is fifty one minutes. Fourcast
for today, after the rain moves out a year, it
is gonna clear up. It's gonna be sunny and windy.
Highs in the mid fifties right now thirty four in Frederick.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
Flu brutal this year.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Like five days ago we started seeing a news about
an uptick in Prince George's county with the flu, and
then yesterday all the news outlets started talking about flu
cases surging across the DMV. So how do you avoid
the flu? How do you stay healthy? And well what
you got? Let's talk about it next because we all
need to be aware that this could be a serious thing.

(17:35):
The worst flu season in years eight six six, nine two,
seven forty three sixty one is the number, that's eight
sixty six wash FM the number one, and the talkback
microphone is wide open for you too if you want
to jump in and you're signed in listening to your
iHeart app where you've made us preset number one. We'll
get into this coming up as Toby and Chili in
the Morning. Continue if you've seen the news Toby and

(17:56):
Chiley in the Morning on ninety seven point one WASHUFM
where you can I'm in at eight sixty six wash FM,
the number one, that's eight six six, nine two, seven
forty three sixty one. You know that flu season is
back with the vengeance this year. In fact, my friends
who work in healthcare in different places, including all over
here in the DMV. They say that they've never seen
urgent care so packed, They've never seen emergency rooms so packed,

(18:21):
people going into the hospital because they are dehydrated due
to the flu. And then there's schools across the DMV
and across the country that are going to remote learning
and whatnot, all because of this flu outbreak. And you
said in the news earlier it's the worst in what
fifteen years.

Speaker 4 (18:38):
The highest surge in fifteen years. It's a big thing.
And it's funny because we had a meeting here yesterday
and one of our coworkers was feeling under the weather.
She's a manager. We all stayed the hell away from her.
We're like, in case it's the flu, we do not
want to be near you.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
I like, Thattall.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
I emailed here the other day and I'm like telling me.
I'm like, well you need to rest. She's like, well,
as you know, all, Well, I go, no, I don't
have the flu.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
Well she doesn't know, for it is not contagious.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
But if you're sitting here like I know that look
and that has got like flu written all over it.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
I mean we all have to take certain steps to
prevent ourselves from getting it. I mean, I know, I
fire it up the air, purefire in the studio this morning.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
Yes, she sure did, because I was coughing this morning
a little bit.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
But even if you hadn't coughed a little bit, it's
something this time of year we should have in this room.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
Translations. Chili is just very afraid of getting the flu.
I don't blame her, though, because I don't want to
get it either.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
I mean, if you got it to be worse.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
I go down, I go down hard. That's right.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
Other things that I am personally, I'm upping my zinc.
I'm sanitizing the heck out of my hands everywhere I go.
Aren't you taking steps I'm not.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
I'm going beyond sanitizing my hands. I'm washing everything like profusely.

Speaker 4 (19:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
Like I'll even run the app on my watch that
tells me how long I've been washing my hands from,
you know, like when.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
COVID was a thing. Just because I don't want to
have I don't I want to deal with it. I
really don't.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
And not to mention that I've taken the vitamin C
up in the form of OJ and whatnot.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
I mean, it's just through the roof.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
I'm giving my body every opportunity I can to fight
back against whatever is floating around.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
And I'm gonna say one more thing I've noticed about
you that you're doing to prevent from getting sick is
you're not traveling as much. You're sort of saying no
to those opportunities more. And I think that that's probably
because of what's going around out there.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
Well, the last time I've traveled, like really lengthy, well,
actually the last two times i've traveled, something's gone wrong
that's been you know, health related. Once in Texas, seen
my parents, something went really wrong. I went to an
industry kind of a thing out on the West coast,
and I came back with COVID. I'm like, you know, I,
for whatever reason, lately, I've been like a magnet for

(20:49):
this stuff and I just don't want to deal with it. It's like, no,
I'll even go to the Parkway Deli right down there
in Silver Spring and I'll get the what's it called
the chicken New soup because I'm convinced that whatever that
broth is in that chicken noodle soup is like penicillin
because it helps. Yeah, if I start to feel like
I'm getting sick. Give me some of that. So what

(21:09):
do you do? How are you fighting back against the flu?
How are you staying healthy?

Speaker 3 (21:13):
And well? What are your tips?

Speaker 2 (21:15):
What would you share with the class because Chili and
I would love to hear all about them so that
we can share them with our friends and ourselves. Eight
sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one is
the number? Is there something that you have that to
go to that you use anytime that you start to
feel some sort of way or you start to notice
people dropping like flies because they get sick. Tell us

(21:35):
everything we'll talk in minutes is Toby and Chilians This
morning continues because we don't want you to be another story,
another flu story, but we do want to hear from
you if you've been on a crazy first date and
that made for a good story.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
Coming up in just a few.

Speaker 4 (21:48):
Minutes, Amily from Vienna is going to share her crazy
first date that involved a busted boat.

Speaker 3 (21:54):

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Toby and chilis crazy first date.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
Amile and welcome, Welcome, Welcome, We hear you have a
crazy first date story for us.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
Lay it on.

Speaker 5 (22:06):
I was living in Virginia, beach and went out with
my girlfriend's to a bar where I'm at this nice
seeming guy named Roberts. The guy was GQ gorgeous, so anyway,
he asked me to go on a date with him
and I agreed, and he asked me to meet him
at the marina. I said he was going to take
me out on the cruise of you know, the ocean

(22:27):
front in his boat. I was like, oh, the guy
has a boat.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
You know.

Speaker 5 (22:32):
So we get to the marina and I see his
boat and his boat is half sunken in the water.
The bottom boards of the bottom half of the boat
were rotted, like there were places that wasn't safe to
walk in this boat. And I said, you were going
to take me out and he's like, oh, yeah, I
know how it looks, but it's perfectly seaworthy and everything.

(22:52):
And I was like, no, it's not. And I left.
But the sad thing about all of this is that
I actually let him take me out another time, and
on the second date, he proposed to me wow, and
said he was headed to Saudi Arabia on a computer
programming project and he wanted to take a wife with

(23:14):
him because he wasn't going to be allowed to date
the local girls.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
Oh my god, we told you that.

Speaker 4 (23:20):
I admitted it.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
Oh okay, yeah, hey, let's get married because I'm not
going to be able to hug up with any local
chicks while I'm in Saudi Arabia exactly.

Speaker 5 (23:29):
And I was like, oh no, thank you.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
Oh wow, sounds like you dodged quite an interesting GQ bullet.

Speaker 5 (23:37):
Yeah, well he was gorgeous.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
You know that was a crazy first date. Indeed, first
and second date, really, that's true.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
Yeah, and there was no third no.

Speaker 4 (23:47):

guessed the strain that it's going to.

they guess. Otherwise it's just medical darts. Yeah, you'll have
these things. Good morning, Erica. Thank you for waking up
with us in Montgomery County. I see you in Kensington.
How do you make sure you don't get sick?

Speaker 1 (27:48):
I stay hydrated, eat healthy, get enough sleep, wash my
hands often and try to manage stress. A good balance
of those goes a long way.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
I was with you up until the managing stress. That's
a tough one.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
It is tough, Chili.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
But the solution is taking naps and giving your body
the chance to rebound. How about taking a trip, Well,
there's that that'll work too. It just depends on where
you go. Make sure it's warm and near the water.
