Toby and Chilly Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one wash M.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
There's always a reason to start today feeling good. It's
ninety seven point one wash f M. Probably because you
have the entire day ahead of you. I'm feeling good
this morning because at least three different times yesterday I
had colleagues that I don't always run into, you know,
just stop to ask me how I'm doing, Hey, how
are you? Hey? Are things good? And you know what,
I can't tell you how? That just feels good. And

(00:27):
then you know, just to have a conversation with you know,
your parents, provided you still have your parents around and
in your life. I know that not everybody does, and
to have them kind of ask the same thing. You know,
it feels good to know that you matter to people.
And sometimes and maybe you might want to try this today.
If there's somebody that matters to you, maybe ask how

(00:48):
they're doing. You never know what they're going through. It's
just a random reason to feel good, and it's something
that I've had happen over the last day. That's the
reason I'm feeling some joy before five o'clock this morning
with Teby and Chilli in the morning here at ninety
seven point whet to watch that FM?

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Chilli.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
How how are you feeling this morning? Why are you
feeling good?

Speaker 4 (01:07):
I'm feeling good because I got an eighty five percent
sleep score last night.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Oh look at you go? A five percent.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
I mean it's not one hundred.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
I don't doesn't matter when you do this schedule. Yeah,
but you can get anything above a sixty is a win.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
You would know, because don't you look at your scores?

Speaker 2 (01:25):
I'm dying, I do. I look at it all the time.
I also love how I like if I sneak an
app and in the middle of the day correctly, and I
don't you know, wake myself up every five minutes, it
boosts that score because it counts towards that same day.
And I'm like, I love that.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
I know, so right, So I got a good sleep score.
And because a couple of weeks ago, I think I
told you that one of my doctors was saying you
have to get a minimum of six hours of sleep
at night because otherwise, well, you're slowly dying.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
There was so much stuff in the news this week
that we didn't really talk about on Toby and Chillian Morning.
That has to do with the importance of sleep, and honestly,
sometimes for us we look at it and we're like,
we know, we know.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
Well, anyone who's up listening to us right now, you
probably know because this is a really early time to
be up and out and doing all the.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Things that's right. So thank you for getting up early
and for letting us be a part of your life.
We're Toby and Chilly in the morning here at ninety
seven point one wash FM. If you're feeling some sort
of way this morning, though, maybe we can help you
coming up in just a little bit with your morning mindset.
But before we get to that, let's talk about the news.
What are you working on?

Speaker 4 (02:30):
The President has launched launched rather the DC Safe and
Beautiful Task Force. What does it all mean? Well, we'll
share some of the details to.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Stories at the top of the hour on the way
next Good Morning, Dez.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Top Stories. Top of the out.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy
Junior says that upcoming job and division cuts are going
to save close to two billion dollars a year. HHS
RATHER is announcing that it is cutting twenty thousand jobs.
The President launched the DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force

(03:07):
to crack down on crime, homelessness, and vandalism in the city.
The executive order calls for more law enforcement, stricter immigration enforcement,
and clean up efforts. The FBI says one of the
top leaders of the MS thirteen gang was arrested in
Prince William County. This happened yesterday morning. The unidentified twenty
four year old was taken into custody, but there are

(03:28):
conflicting reports whether the arrest happened in Woodbridge or Dale City.
A Montgomery County teacher has been disciplined for allegedly harassing
an eight year old Muslim student over her key job.
The teacher has since been removed from the classroom and
in Arlington neighborhood has been ranked number one on nietchs

(03:48):
dot COM's ten Best places to Live in the US
in twenty twenty five. It's Colonial Village because it has
access to Rock Creek Park. It beat up runner ups
in Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Florida for the very top spot.
Forecast four today partly cloudy, We'd have a chance of
showers later. Hi's around sixty seven right now, though it is.

(04:09):
Let me check my watch because I didn't write it
down forty four degrees in Capitol Heights.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Bob, Buddy, are my body? Toby and Chilly in the Morning,
It's ninety seven point one wash FM. Hey, how's your
head this morning? Well, hopefully it's okay. If it's not,
we've got some words of wisdom that might inspire you.
It's the best of the eighties weekend edition of Your
Morning Mindset, and it's on the way in just minutes
to help you get into this new day. Stay right,

(04:34):
how are you doing this morning? Dreading and getting out
of bed? Maybe you're driving into work and you're like, oh,
this is going to be one of those days. It's
ninety seven point one WASHFM. Well, when that happens, we
think of you. And that's when here at Toby and
Chilly in the Morning, we jump into the conversation with
something we hope inspire.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
It's called our Morning Mindset. And who do you have?
The quote from this morning.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
The Morning mind Set today comes from John bon Jovi
see Best of the eighties weekend edition of Your Morning Mindset,
who says success is getting up one more time than
you fall. John bon Jovi, success is getting up one
more time than you fall. You see life, it does
not ask you to be perfect, It does not ask

(05:17):
you to be everything that you can be all of
the time. It just asks you to keep going. So fall,
get up, repeat, and John bon Jovi would know a
little bit about this. That's the rhythm of resilience. Fall,
get up, Repeat. You've got it in you and you
thought you were rhythmically impaired. John bon Jovi, thank you

(05:38):
for your morning mindset today. Hopefully it helps. If you
need it again, you'll find it to Toby and Chillipage
at washupm dot com. You can share it with somebody
else who might need it like you do, or perhaps
if you don't see it, just message one of us
and we'll get it to you as soon as we can.
Toby and Chilly in the morning. Here at ninety seven
point one yesterday. Yesterday we got a little bit nostalgic chili.
We were talking about things from our childhood that we

(06:00):
would love to see make a comeback.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
And I guess the conversation isn't over because we have
somebody waiting who wanted to add something to the list
of those nostalgic items.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Don't miss this, and by the way if you want
to jump into the conversation, Hey, lead us to where
you want us to go at eight sixty six ninet
two seven forty three sixty one. That is on the
way next eight sixty six nine two seven forty three
sixty one. Good morning, Toby and Chilli in the morning.
And we would love it if you would call or
tap to talk back microphone to jump into this conversation

(06:30):
that we were having yesterday, Chilly.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
We talked about how two thirds of Americans would love
to bring back something, maybe a product from their childhood.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
You could bring it back in Rockville, Nile, from your childhood.
What would it be? Tell us we're listening, Hey, Toby
and Chili, good morning.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
Yes, okay, this is what I would bring back. I
would bring back the speak and spell from Texas instruments
and the speaking map. I know you guys got to
remember that.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
It was that big mortinge reddish. It almost looked like
a modern day iPad, but it's not.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Really only much snicker with a handle.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
Yeah with that hand, Yes, yes, with the handle.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
We love that.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
Me and my sisters would play on that almost every day.
We'd have to change the batteries all the time.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
I'm looking at it right now on Amazon. You can
buy the one that we all grew up with, the
speak and spell for twenty three dollars and fifteen cents
right now.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Twenty three dollars, Come on.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
I would think it would be a lot more than that.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Now, that's funny, you know, that's so the amazing.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
What about Theaari It wasn't oh they don't go throwing
it back to the twenty six hundred.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Now's in the cartridge and you had those little remote.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
You mean the joysticks? Yes, yeah, my.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Sisters would play that every day after school. We would
play like Space Invaders, Astroids, you name it. And we
would eat our hot dogs and we'd eat our pudding
pops from the Cosby and we would just be going off.
I'm telling you, we just did all that stuff. Nile.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Did all that speak and spelling and speak and mathing
help you in school?

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Though?

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Did you do well in those subjects?

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Absolutely? Absolutely? You know, it's like we had fun with it.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
I did really well in math going forward, like getting
it up in the math.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
It just like it wasn't that good.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Now that's what you hop up to speaking math and
you got the Texas instruments, scientific calculator.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Yeah, Learndon was fun. You had your pencils, you had
your trapper Keeper. Do you guys remember that?

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (08:24):
Now that come on, Now nobody makes it like the
trapper Keeper.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
That was always cool.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
When you can get a new one with all the
compartments for your papers.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Now you're taking us back. Yes, we're skipping down memory
lane this morning. I'm just telling you, Oh my god,
this is so much fun. We're glad you called this morning.
Thank you for taking us down this memory lane. We
love you.

Speaker 5 (08:50):
Thank you, guys.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
I love you guys. Thank you, Toby and Jilly, and.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Stay there for the news. It's next.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
Federal judges ordering the Trump administration agencies to keep messaging
sent on the Signal app between March eleventh and fifteenth,
after military attack plans were accidentally shared with the journalist.
The Justice Department said that they are working to track
down the messages from that period. The President signed an
order yesterday to create the DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force.

(09:22):
It's aimed at tackling crime, homelessness, and vandalism in the city.
The plan includes ramping up law enforcement, enforcing immigration policies
and also cleaning up federal properties. Metro's board just approved
a new policy to start banning violent offenders from trains, buses,
and stations this summer. It applies to crimes like sexual
offenses and assaults, with penalties ranging from forty five days

(09:45):
for a first offense to a year for repeat offenders.
A new law designed to make it easier to own
pets in the district has been approved by Congress. It
caps the amount that landlords can charge for pet deposits
and pet rent and also prohibits breed discrimination and establishes
as a shelter where the homeless can stay with their pets. Unfortunately,

(10:09):
the University of Maryland's run with the NCAA men's basketball
tournament is over. The Terps lost their Sweet sixteen matchup
against Florida last night. Maryland's women's team will take on
South Carolina tonight. And according to a new survey, forty
seven percent of Americans admit they struggle to focus at
work in days leading up to a vacation, and people

(10:29):
know that they desperately need a vacation when they're feeling
burnt out and catch themselves daydreaming about a Getaway. Forecast
for today partly cloudy with a chance of showers later.
High's in the upper sixties. Right now it is forty
and Chantilly.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Eight sixty six nine two seven three sixty one is
the number. Talkbacks wide open too, because so many people
are feeling nostalgic about these things from their childhood that
they would love to see make a comeback. Stay there,
we'll talk to Greg from Rockville and we'll talk to
you too. If you've got something to feel free to
jump in. It's next with Toby and Chili in the Morning.
People were all nostalgic this morning for things that they

(11:06):
want back from their childhood. Don't blame you. Ninety seven
point one. Watch FM Toby and Chilly in the Morning. Chilli,
it's Greg from Rockville.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
Okay, what are you going to add to the list
of things you'd love to see make a comeback?

Speaker 5 (11:18):
When I was a kid, I'd come home from school
every day to watch The Disney Afternoon. When I was five,
I was in the hospital at Children's Chili we've met previously,
so my dad would actually record The Disney Afternoon bring
it to me to be able to watch. When I
was in the hospital.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
There was yours brain related to Greg.

Speaker 5 (11:37):
Yeah, so yeah, I had a brain aneurysm. I was
actually the Children's Miracle Network champion, I think in eighty.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
Nine As you Want to Brown Back.

Speaker 5 (11:47):
Gut Me Bears, Duck Tails, Chippendale's Rescue Rangers and Tailspin
and like there was a theme song at the beginning
and everything. It's like it's like, I know I can
get it all on Disney Plus for my kids, but
to get like that, like actual experience, you know, I'd
love to get you.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Yeah, like my kid. It's kind of like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
Come inside. It's fun inside exactly.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
And what's great Greg is Now I'm starting to think
about when Toby and I were that young, we had
the Saturday morning cartoons on regular television and they don't have.

Speaker 5 (12:17):
That anymore, no, And like they still have that when
I was a kid too. But you know, it's just
like it's not the same. It's like find whatever you
want on Netflix and there's way too many options on
whatever you're streaming.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Yeah, it's just different now. And how are you doing now?

Speaker 5 (12:30):
Man?

Speaker 2 (12:30):
How are you feeling after the aneurism and all of that?

Speaker 5 (12:32):
Getting stronger every day I'm overcoming my disability and I'm
trying to hopefully in the near future, get a program
started to help other people with disabilities.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
I wouldn't call it disabilities, I would call it abilities.

Speaker 5 (12:44):
Maybe next time, at the next radiothon, maybe I'll try
to come down see you guys.

Speaker 4 (12:50):
Set your calendar for December eighteenth and nineteenth.

Speaker 5 (12:52):
All right, sounds good, Chillie, Thank you so much. Guys.
I hope you have a good week.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Yeah, and if you get something started before then, don't
be afraid to reach out. You know where we are.

Speaker 5 (13:00):
We'll do We'll do, all right, Toby, thanks so much.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Guts to talk to you, Sir Shelby and Chilli's nearly
impossible question.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
What is the question? This morning?

Speaker 4 (13:07):
About ten percent of people check on this first thing
in the morning, even before they check their phone.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
What is it? Dave Matthews van merriwea a post pavilion.
Thank you Live Nation. If you want the tickets, answer
this question right here. It is one more time.

Speaker 4 (13:19):

Speaker 2 (13:25):
What is it? Dave Matthews band coming to town. You'll
be there if you get that question right eight sixty

Speaker 1 (13:37):

Speaker 2 (13:39):
Michelle and Martinsburg, Good morning, How are you today?

Speaker 4 (13:42):
I'm great?

Speaker 2 (13:43):
How are you wonderful? It's Friday? How can you not

That's right?

Speaker 4 (13:49):
Ready for the weekend.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
And you're ready to see the Dave Matthews band thanks
to Live Nation. Here's the question you've got to answer
one more time because some people might not have heard it.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
About ten percent of people they check on this thing
in the morning before they even check their phone. What
do you think we're talking about? Michelle?

Speaker 2 (14:04):
Their pet? You check on the pet? Do you check
your phone? What kind of a human being are you?

Speaker 1 (14:09):
It depends.

Speaker 6 (14:10):
You check on my pet this morning because she.

Speaker 5 (14:13):
Woke me up?

Speaker 2 (14:15):
Why did she wake you up? Was there some sort
of critter running around? Or was an evil doer at
the door?

Speaker 4 (14:20):
He likes to be sad.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Oh, oh, they're sad. There is that food will cause
a pet to try to wake you up.

Speaker 4 (14:26):
Yes, checking on their pet is an excellent guest. It's
also the correct answer. Ten percent of people will check
on their pet before they check their phones.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Awesome, Thank you so much.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
My husband gets a little bit of crete for this too.

Speaker 2 (14:39):

Ninety seven point one Walsh f Am.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
That's right and next week if you're here to play

we got something for you.

Speaker 4 (14:58):

thanks to Live Nation.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Did you say Dark's Billy Well? Ye to be here
after the weekend to win top stories. It's Top the
Hour on WODE.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
The Trump administration is revoking hundreds of student visas. Yesterday's
Secretary of State Marco rubiosa that three hundred or more
student visas are being revoked as the White House now
target students who express their support of Palestine. The President
is ordering the Smithsonian to remove what he calls anti
American ideology from its museums. He signed an executive order yesterday,

(15:39):
promising to eliminate quote improper, divisive or anti American ideology
from the institution. Meanwhile, the President also launched the DC
Safe and Beautiful Task Force to crack down on crime,
hopeless lists, and the vandalism in the city. The executive
order calls for more law enforcement, stricter immigration enforcement, and

(16:00):
clean up efforts. The FAA says that false collision alerts
reported earlier this month at Reagan National Airport were caused
by drone testing. At least a dozen flight crews reported
mid air collision warnings as they approached Reagan National March first,
one of the top leaders of the MS thirteen gang
was arrested in Prince William County yesterday morning. US Attorney

(16:23):
General Palmba Pam Bondi said the twenty four year olds
arrest came from a joint operation among federal agencies and
local police. A Montgomery County teacher has been disciplined for
allegedly harassing an eight year old Muslim student over her job.
The teacher has been removed from the classroom and is

(16:44):
not to have contact with that student, and in a
new report, the real estate site Zillo highlights the top
features that will sell a home for more than expected.
And this includes soapstone countertops, white oak floors, and Venetian
plaster walls. Cast for today partly Gladys Guys. Chance of
showers later highs around sixty seven right now forty and gathers.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
If the news and all this other stuff going on
in the world has your feel in some sort of way,
maybe you need a quick shot of all the fields
in the form of this feel good Friday story. And
it's really distinctively DC. Why because we've got cherry blossoms,
and there's some students doing something down at these blossoms
that you're gonna want to see alongside of these blossoms,
maybe even this weekend. You'll find out what it is

(17:29):
in minutes. Stay with it. If it's the story that
gives you all the fields on a Friday, it must
be our feel good Friday story. And as we get
into the weekend, we've got to think about these cherry
blossoms the title basin and there are eight amazing murals
down there that you'll see if you make your way
down with so many others this weekend.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
And by the way, the forecast tomorrow eighty degrees it's
a great time to take a stroll down there. As
you said, these are large scale artworks and the best
part is it was created by DC students from all
eight war words in collaboration with some local artists as
part of the Cherry Blossom Festivals student art showcase.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
It's ninety seven point one was chefm, w're telby and
chilling in the morning. And each one of these murals
captures the essence of spring and DC's spirits when it
comes to our youth. They're gonna be down there through
April sixth, so you really have a lot of time,
but not too much time enough to get down there
and see them.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
So one student shared that his mural is inspired by
the friendship between the US and Japan. It was like, oh, thanks,
because they gave us these cherry blossoms and we wanted
to do something nice for them.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
And these murals are very nice, and so are the
people who created the wonderful murals. The muralists were.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
Brian Bailey, Leah Craigie Marshall, Diego Montoya, trap Bob Elena Fullmore,
Sophie Shreiver, Alisha Piggott, and Dietrich Williams. All students from
the district.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
It's great muralists, all of them giving us something to
celebrate and something that will remind us of the peace
between our peoples and what it can do to make
the world a better place. One cherry blossom tree at
a time. Hey, the festival runs through April thirteenth, so
you do have time to soak it all in, to
see the murals, the blossoms, and really what's great about it.

(19:16):
The community spirit is on full display, So make your
way down there if you.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
Can, and if you want to read more about it,
you can on the Toby and Chili page at washef
dot com.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
Speaking of feelings, coming up with Toby and Chilly in
the morning, we want to talk about the feelings that
your home might leave with people, friends, guests and whatnot
when they swing by.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
What is the impression someone would get if they were
to visit right now.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Well, we will talk about that coming up. Stay with
us Toby and Chilli at ninety seven point one washcheff.
Then you got Toby and Chilly in the Morning. There's
a couple of things that come to mind as we
get into this conversation. Number One, you'd never get a
second chance to make a first impression. And number two,
you gotta kind of keep up with the jones when
it comes to the way your house looks outside, but

(19:58):
what about inside house.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
I've never been one to keep up with anybody, you know.
I just I'm not competitive in that sense. And if
I had to describe to you what I hope people
feel when they visit my home is I hope they
feel comfortable, like physically comfortable furniture. And I don't want
them to feel like they have to go home and
take a shower, like I don't want my house to
seem like it's dirty.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
What about you. I just wanted to seem like it's clean.
I want people to take the impression away that it's clean.
And I'm way far away from that impression right now
because I have too much junk, which is part of
the reason why I used to love to get out
of town and go to different hotels on the weekend
because those hotels were clean and they were just always
just peaceful, and right now it's a little too chaotic.

(20:38):
It didn't always used to be that way. But I
would love for people to feel peace when they leave
my house, and peace, I guess I need to do
a spring cleaning or just a spring renovation. It's crazy
when you think about it, and it really is. It's
like it's easier sometimes to keep up with the outside
of that house, I would imagine, yeah, than it is
to keep up with the inside of the house, because

(20:58):
that's your space, you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
That is, And whether people want to admit it or not,
they do judge your space when they walk into it.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
Yeah, they do. You know, you might want to clean
that bathroom, especially if you've got people coming over. Eight
sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one is
the number. Talkbacks wide open too. If you're listening to
us on your iHeart app Right now, what is it?
What is the impression that you want people to take
away from your place, the inside of your place? Tell
us right now, what's that impression? There's no right, there's

(21:27):
no wrong, there's just answers, and we can't wait to
hear Yours is Toby and Chilly in the Morning continues
here at ninety seven point one Wash FM. So calling
