11/19 – Melissa in Gainsville & The White Lie

It's Toby and Terry's crazy first date.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Well listen, Gainesville is the caller there? Good morning, Hello,
good morning, good morning. You have a crazy first date
story for Chili and I good are a bad layd honest? Please?

Speaker 1 (00:14):
My crazy first date was ten years ago. I had
been using e harmony for about a year, and it
was bad date after bad date. I usually had my
excuses ready for why I needed to jump ship, and
my dates never lasted more than forty five minutes. Fast
forward to my crazy date. We met at a really
nice restaurant. We hit it off. We were deep in conversation,
and then the restaurant manager came over to me and

(00:36):
asked if I was Melissa. I told her I was,
and they said there was a phone call for me
at the host station. I was purplused who'd be calling me?
And my date joked that it was my rescue phone
call to get out of the date, which wasn't far
from the truth. It's done something like that before. Turns
out it was my parents calling because I had been
gone for so long and none of my other dates
had ever lasted this long. Apparently, the first time they

(00:57):
called the restaurant, they after the girl who met my
description was there and the restaurant said no. My parents
told them they better check again before they called the police.
Now I had the short walk back to the table
to figure out what I was going to tell my
date about who was on the phone. I was too
embarrassed to say that my parents were checking on me, so,
being the bad liar that I am, I told him

(01:17):
that my dad slips on the ice and fell, which
had happened, but it was a few days earlier. And
of course, being the nice guy he was, he was
concerned and said, oh, you should get home to help him,
and I said, oh, he'll be fine. What's order dessert?
And my date gave me a very perplexed look. A
few days later I revealed the truth.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
To him and he was said he was thinking at
the time, man, I hope I never fall in the
nice But now ten years later, my date is now
my husband, and we still joke about the story, and
in fact we told it at our wedding.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
When you got to the phone with your parents after
they called, what did you tell them everything is going great,
leave me alone? What did you say to them? Something
along those lines.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Obviously your day took it well you revealed it now
he is your husband.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Surprise. I got a second date after that one.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
It seems it all worked out in the end, though,
so it looks like that little white line may not
have been that big of a deal after its right
one tickets to see Shakira thanks to Live Nation. Well
