Speaker 1 (00:04):
Ten Takes is a production of the NFL in partnership
with iHeartRadio. Ten Takes. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, what a
fun time to be alive, great football, great season, President's family,
all that wonderful stuff. A lot of chocolates, so much

(00:26):
chocolate right now in my life. But also, I have you, guys,
and I give you ten takes in exactly ten minutes
and no more. So let's get to it. After another
incredible week of actually for the National Football League, start
the clock. Take number one. The greatest tribute to Josh
Allen is Dan Campbell on sidekicking. You could have any

(00:48):
highlight package, any statistician, any historian, any fanboy, and none
of them could do a better job of saying how
incredible Josh Allen has been than Dan Campbell deciding to
onsidekick with twelve minutes left in the game, down ten.
It's just not something you see. It's not something that
makes sense. The only sense it makes is this. It's
a seven percent success rate on onside kicks. It's ridiculous.

(01:10):
At this point, you can't even sneak it. You have
to tell them it's coming, they prepare, and you still
do it. It almost never works seven percent. Dan Campbell knows
that he has those statistics. The special teams, coaches all
know that stuff. It's not gonna work. And still he
thought that that would be a better chance to get
success for the Lions than trying to stop the Bills offense.

(01:33):
They're like, coach, we never are gonna get an onside kick.
It's seven percent, said, I don't care, man, go for it.
Seven percent. I'll take it. We have zero percent of
stopping Josh Allen right now. One because Alan is a superhero.
Two because the Lions defense is so beat up. But
the crazy thing about is they actually got an awesome
on side kick. That ridiculous choice to do the on
side kick was beautiful from Jake Bates. It was that

(01:54):
hop hop, huge hop, and not only did they not
get it, the Bills got it and almost ran it
back for a touchdown. The other take, I hate about
this and I'm not even gonna this is a bonus one.
This is part of one. This is take one A.
Don't tell me that that is Dan Campbell again making
the same decision that he made on fourth in inches.
It's totally different. Fourth and inches. You turn and hand
it to your running back who's probably the hardest runner

(02:16):
in the league this year, David Montgomery. He gets it.
Onside kicks are like a stupid power ball ticket. You're
never gonna get the downside kick. It's barely even a
football play. There's a terrible chance you get that. I
had it at seven percent. What was the chance that
David Montgomery gets inches on fourth and inches sixty at
least probably seventy. It's not the same. It's a really

(02:37):
weird choice. And if Josh Allen wins the MVP, when
he does, and if he goes to the Hall of Fame,
look back on the twenty twenty fourth season and remember
that Dan Campbell was so hopeless to stop him in
that game that he decided to go for an on
site kick instead of just rushing the passer or hoping
you can bat down a ball or something. Take number two,
Josh Allen's having an all time great season. If you're
throwing up with the Josh Allen coverage, this is my

(02:59):
last take out of the ten. I promise, but I
don't even know if you understand how good this Bill's
offense is going into the season. The only story was
he's overrated. He's not in the NFL one hundred top ten.
Diggs has gone, Davis has gone. You know, we've talked
about that for months. Not only do they have probably
the best offense in the league, they have the best
offense Josh Allen has ever had in his career. They

(03:20):
have one of the best offenses in NFL history that
we're watching right now. Eight plus games of thirty plus points.
Do you know the teams that have done that ever?
The Kurt Warner Rams, the Peyton Manning Broncos, and the
prime Tom Brady Patriots. Now add the Josh Allen Bills
to that. He has not been sacked in four games.
He followed up his six touchdown game three and three

(03:44):
with a four touchdown game two and two with no
fumbles or interceptions. He becomes the first quarterback in fantasy
football history to have back to back forty point games.
It is an all time season. I still don't know
how it's gonna end, though, because the defense can't stop anybody.
Right now, take number three. The Chiefs should sit Patrick
homes for as long as it takes. I'm doing this.

(04:06):
I'm recording this on the morning of Monday after the action,
So if reports come out that the ankle injury isn't
as bad. It's actually encouraging. This might be moot, as
they say, but if there's anything negative whatsoever, and it's
really not looking very good and he needs rest, sit him,
sit him. He has a game this weekend. He has
another game against this against the Steelers on Christmas under

(04:28):
which there's probably a lot of pressure for him to
play because it's the Netflix premiere and all that Christmas Day.
I would much rather the Chiefs lose the one seed
then mess up Mahomes or exacerbate an injury. You want
to take your shot with a healthy Mahomes. You do
not want to just for the sake of the buy,
run him out there and make it worse, make it bad.

(04:49):
I'm telling you they didn't have to have to buy.
Last year they played in the wild Card. Last year
they won the Super Bowl. They went to Buffalo. Last
year they won the Super Bowl. If you don't have
a healthy Mahomes, you got nothing, especially this year with
that offense as weak as it is, as underwhelming as
it is, as much as it needs him. Rolled the
dice with Carson Wentz. He's won a lot of big

(05:10):
football games it's been a minute, but at least he
has that in him. I would hate seeing them say, well,
Patrick wants to play, so we're gonna let him do
the smart, prudent thing. It's not sexy. I don't give
a damn super Bowls are sexy. You are not gonna
win the super Bowl if you go into the playoffs
and Mahomes has got a bad ankle. Not this year.
Take number four. The Eagles are starting to represent a

(05:32):
very specific kind of couple. One, maybe it's just a
couple from Philadelphia who likes to fight and just get
it all out and scream at each other. Or two
it's the makeup couple. What I mean by that is
everything is always nasty with this team. They've won ten
games in a row. No Eagles team has ever in
history won more games in a row. But there's always
some fight, there's always some discord. Last week, you know
the storyline. Now we have Sirianni going over to talk

(05:53):
to a player and he's physically stopped by the player's position.
Coach and the damn bodyguard is involved. It's like they're
not happy unless they're unhappy, and yet it always works
for them, so they're like the couple that fights and
has this terrible dramatic fight and then they make up
and it's really hot and it works, and it's hot
in a different way than if you hadn't fought. You

(06:14):
know what I'm saying. Because they had a great win
against the Steelers yes day, which they look very good,
but they're screaming at each other on the sideline then
hugging afterwards. They are obsessed with being unhappy and it's
gonna be this way all the way till the end
because it works for them. Do you know a couple
like that at the wedding wherever they are not there
on when you're attending a wedding with them, maybe they're
at your table and they're always fighting and there's this
drunken screaming by the elevators. Then at the end of

(06:37):
the night, it's going great. That's the Philadelphia Eagles, and
I kind of respect it. Take number five. Either Dan
Campbell or Nick Sirianni is going to do something crazy
in the playoffs. I don't know who's more likely. I
wish they were posted odds on this. You could bet
on the Sirianni mind blowing decision or the Dan Campbell
mind blowing decision. I don't what it's going to be.
I just know that it's gonna happen. It's gonna be

(06:59):
like fourth and six and they're on their own fifteen
yard line in the second quarter and Campbell says go
or something like that that Sirianni does off the walls completely.
All I know is it's not just gonna be two
run of the mill ends to the season for the
Lions or Eagles, in which Campbell and Syrianna do nothing noteworthy.
I would give probably Campbell the edge, but Syrianne's gonna

(07:19):
come run in two. Take number five, Take number six.
What am I now on six? My mind's a blur today.
Take number six. The Tampay Bucks are hosting a playoff game.
That's happening. This is an incredible thing. They bottomed out.
Evans was hurt. They couldn't win a game. They have
since won four in a row. They just beat the
hell out of the Chargers. The remaining schedule is easy.
Baker's great. Mike Evans is gonna get that one thousand yards.

(07:40):
All he needs is eighty five yards a game over
the last three games. The Bucks are gonna host the
playoff game. It's gonna probably be on Saturday. I'm gonna
order pad tie from Uber Eats to sit there on
my couch in my sweatpants. I can't wait. Take number
seven players dropping the ball at the goal line is fascinating.
I was texting with some friends about this. We saw
Jonathan Taylor do it. There's multiple guys who did it yesterday.
We've seen it for years. It is so weird that

(08:00):
this happens. It's especially weird with Taylor because Taylor is
not a look at me guy. Taylor has scored countless
touchdowns in the pros going back to college. He's very
familiar with this. This is not some guy who's green
at crossing the goal line. Also, someone like Jonathan Taylor
at this point grew up watching DeShawn Jackson and others
be put all over Sports Center for making that mistake

(08:22):
and getting mocked for it. You know the deal. So
why do they do it? I think it's one of
two things. I think it's either you're kind of showing
how easy it was to score, and you're so relaxed
and so chilled. You just dropped the ball casually, like
you're tossing something into the hamper at home, No big deal,
fifty yard touchdown, whatever. There's something with your body language

(08:44):
that you're trying to look cool and maybe show your
teammates how cool you are and how easy that was.
I think the other part of it is you just
start going through this five to six second eight second
burst of aggression and intensity, and as a running back,
it's it's Carrie carry carry, two yard loss, four yard gain,
five yard gain, six yard lost, one yard gain, boom
popped to run, and it is this amazing adrenaline surge

(09:07):
and this aggressiveness and run, run, run, and then when
you get to the goal land, there's this sort of release,
this psychological release where I did it, I scored, and
I'm just gonna drop it all right here, and you
anticipate it and you time it wrong, but there's something
that clicks in your brain that says, drop it. It's
really hard to explain, but I see some of that

(09:28):
in Jonathan Taylor. We can get more into it, but
it's only a ten minute podcast. Take number eight. I
want the Bengals in the playoffs. I don't care if
they're six and eight. I don't care if there's six
and one. Hundred. We need that team in the playoffs
because now Joe Burrow's not just throwing five touchdowns a game,
He's like bad mouthing his coach right to his face
or whatever the hell was going on the sideline. The
entertainment quotion is too high for the Bengals for them
not to make the playoffs. I just don't think they're

(09:49):
going to There's no spot take number nine. I'm that Justinabaudi, Ventura.
It was an incredible experience. Nice to meet you, Kyle.
You hear that voice from out in the green room
when he came on the show, and you're like, oh
my god, I can hear it through the walls. I
grew up obviously Predator, running Man, all that stuff, but
just watching him doing WWF announcing, he was my favorite announcer.

(10:11):
Him and Guerrilla Monsoon. He shows up really cool, really big,
very outgoing, still huge personality. He's wearing this jacket about
Ventura Farms or to Think grows Cannabis, which is completely
on brand. He tells stories about living off the grid
in Mexico for years with no power. No, it's just incredible.
It really lived up to the hyjested the body you're
the man. Take number ten. Sleepover parties are hell on Earth.

(10:32):
My eleven year old had one this weekend. We had
several of his friends in the house. It's really hard.
They stay up till two in the morning. The next
morning is so horrible with your kid because they're completely
emotionally hungover and they can't play their basketball game. I
have more to say about it, but I amount of time.
We have rules here in society. We have rules on
this show. There's a bell ringing in my ear telling

(10:52):
me that it's time to stop, and I must abide
because it is not Ten takes an eleven minutes. Have
said this many times. Ten takes ten minutes. My son's
still catching up on sleep. He's going to be catching
up on sleep at New Year's Eve and which will
also stay up till midnight. Hell on Earth. Guys, you're
the best. Thank you for being here. Please click, Please
spread the news, post on your ig stories, retweet, or
whatever you want. It's ten minutes of fun for me

(11:14):
every week, and I genuinely appreciate you listening. It will
never drop the ball to goal line for you. See
you next week. Ten Takes is a production of the
