Speaker 1 (00:04):
Ten Takes is a production of the NFL in partnership
with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Calem It's great to see you, man, same here. How's life.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
That's pretty good?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Yeah, yeah, nine and.

Speaker 4 (00:16):
Three, so looking for a ten. So we're you know,
we're doing pretty well.

Speaker 5 (00:20):
It's a really exciting season. Yep, you're winning. It's working
very very exciting for the city of Chicago.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
How is it for you?

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Yeah, it's good. It's uh.

Speaker 4 (00:29):
I don't get out of the house much, and so, uh,
you know when I do, the energy is it's there
and you can definitely feel it and see it on
game day. They're bringing the energy, bringing the juice whether
we're home or away, and so we you know, we
love that and you know we support that and we're
gonna keep trying to, you know, win games for the
city of Chicago.

Speaker 5 (00:48):
You don't get out the house much. What are you
doing at home? You' watching movies? You're watching tape?

Speaker 3 (00:51):
What do you I'm watching tape. I'm watching some movies
and I played a game a little bit.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
What's the movies you watched lately that you like? I
love this stuff.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Recently there's this is it Town Crime or something like that.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
I just recently watched that work. Yeah, that was it.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
That was a good movie. Went to the movies and
saw Wicket. That was a good movie. Kidding Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I try and watch everything.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Are you more Glinda or elfha brolab? Hell yeah that's
the girl.

Speaker 5 (01:15):
Yeah, I'm just looking at this season. You guys now
have twelve games worth of images of sacrifice and victory
and brotherhood. And the number one picture for Bears fans
is when Benjamin David Johnson shirtless and screaming in Philadelphia. Dude,
your front row, Please tell me about it.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
I actually wasn't expecting it, and when he started speaking,
I didn't. I didn't think he was gonna do it,
nor that I didn't. I didn't think that was coming,
and so it kind of surprised me.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
And then uh, we.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Got informed and supported it as as as all of
us do and got our good, better, best and and
and moved on.

Speaker 5 (01:50):
We were shocked, and his fans shocked. You not though,
like he may have that gear in him. Yeah, just
rip it off, nuts. Yeah, he's just he's insane, which
we love. He's insane.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Well, this is insane of me. Can I ask you
a fashion question? You're fashioned. Let me see, let me see.
What do you think of this? This garment right here?

Speaker 3 (02:08):
I'm a fan like this. I'm a fan.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
I might wear it downstairs to the to the meeting.
I might wear downstairs to the meeting.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Look at your boy? Yeah, I don't come on, y'all.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Added a little like SpongeBob, a little yeah, little little creating, Yeah,
a little creantine in the SpongeBob episode where yeah, where's Jack?

Speaker 5 (02:27):
But so I've said as many times I want to
say to you on game day, Coach appears to be
a serial killer. Okay, for four quarters he does not blink,
and then after the game he doesn't breathe.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
What is it like for you with Coach on game
day from start to finish?

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Yeah, you don't.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Uh, nobody, nobody really speaks to Coach. You kind of
just let him do his thing. He's in his mode.
And uh, that's basically, that's that's the simplest way to
put it.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Why does no one speak to him? That's unusual.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
Well, he's just he's in his moat. And you, when
you know, when somebody gets in their mod, you let him.
You let him stay in that mode. And and obviously
the coaches.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
And stuff speaks him.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
Yeah, and I go up to him every once in
a while like hey, this is there, you know something
I see or peel.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
But we let him, you know, be juice.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
We let him have his own energy, and you know,
he doesn't need any more motivation and he wants to
go out there and dominate, just like us.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
So he's in his mode.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
What is the mode? Are there levels to the mode? Like?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yeah, he has read, he has he has he has read.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
You know where he's you know, he's he's a little hot,
and he's a little you know, a little angry. And
then you know he has some some lighter times where
he does actually, you know, laugh, joke sometimes and and
y'all don't see it. He has he actually says a
few sometimes he hides it, and you know, we obviously
have the headset on. So he'll say a few, you know,
a few jokes and you'll see me shake my head
sometimes because I'm trying to be.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Locked yeh yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
And uh so he you know, he is, he is
super serious and super locked in.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
But uh, you know he's he's he's his own self
and he's normal, normal normal In.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
Game day, I gotta hear there's gonna be a documentary
about the Mode. There's gonna be a thirty for thirty
called The Mode. Bet Johnson. Yeah, what I like about it.
There's this impression though, that he doesn't coddle.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
You in this village. To that point.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
I have this quote here because I want to get
it right this week, Ben Johnson. We're winning in spite
of our passing game, not because of it, and none
of us are pleased with that.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
That's a no quote. Yeah, what's it like to hear it? Yeah,
it's it's great. It's something you know, y'all. It's y'all.
You know, as as as media does and things like that,
you know, they'll they'll blow it up and they'll have,
you know, whatever they have to say about it.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
But that's that's every day with.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Him and I.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
We're no no kind of kind of group between him
and I and then the rest of the guys. And
so you know, we're we're not we're not winning necessarily
because we're dropping back and throwing the ball fifty times.
You know, we're we're hitting the key players at the
right time, but we can definitely be more efficient, and
you know, it's something that we talk about and something
that we're very truthful about between you know, myself and
the wide receivers and the coaches and wide receivers and myself.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
How do you think you're playing?

Speaker 4 (04:58):
I think statistically obviously can be a lot better. But
I you know, I think I'm playing well in specific moments,
and then there's times where you know, I feel that
I'm not playing as well. So, uh, you know, our
our time is, our time is coming. A lot of it,
you know, comes from you know, it's been on the
same page us, you know, hitting at the right time, US,
you know, kind of getting into that flow state together.

(05:20):
And then when that when that happens here soon it's
you know it's gonna be It's gonna be a storm.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
It feels like it's coming.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Yeah, it's coming.

Speaker 5 (05:27):
You also have had actually insane scrambling this hit off
the hook, when you're doing something like a blind spin
out of a sack, or like you didn't Philly jump
forward and jump back and then took off for the
first down. Take me inside your head. What is happening
in your brain to make your body do that?

Speaker 4 (05:43):
I have no idea, there's no thought, right, yeah, there's
my brain is blank, and I you know, the simplest
way that I can put it is time to go
make a play. And you know, for the team when
you watch it back, do you even remember it in
real time or is it like us, like, oh wow,
I did do that.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Yeah, I remember. I remember kind of all the plays.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
Yeah, and and and kind of how they went down
throughout the game and things like that, and have my
own version of it. And then you know, you obviously
go back and watch and some things happened that that
you may have not seen. But the feel and the
you know, the reactions and things like that are natural.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
And like I said, my brain is blank.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
I've done it, you know, so many times, and you know,
I'm confident in myself and my es capability, and you know,
you get around the linement enough, you know, you kind
of figure out their weaknesses or where they you know,
may lose it at times, and so you know kind
of play off of that.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
It's so exciting to watch. Yeah, appreciate it. Cheering bro.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (06:33):
And now you scramble into lambeau Field. Oh yeah, you
know what I like about you? You lean into the rivalry. Yep,
you have busted Packers fans chops. Yeah, you have talked
about I want to know in lambeau Y, why do
you do that?

Speaker 4 (06:46):
Yeah, that's I think you you you you want these games.
You want these games to be what they should be,
and it should be it should be emotion it should
be fiery, it should be a high power game. And
I've I've been a part of some some cool ones
throughout my career so far, whether it's NFL or in college,

(07:06):
you know, Oklahoma Texas and U C l A, U
s USC, Notre Dame, you know, and all these Oklahoma
State and and that's the feeling. You know, it gets
you up in the morning. You know, you're super excited
about it. There's there's always something a little bit more
to this game, and uh, you know you want to
come out victorious and and and have that little extra juice,
but obviously be in control of it. And so that's
why I do it. And and I think it gets

(07:29):
the guys going. I think, I mean, you know, Ben
does it himself, and so uh, it's it's it's who
we are, who we're going to be, and we'll we'll
we'll keep growing and keep getting after it.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
I know you were frustrated, you weren't able to do
a Lamba leap last year.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Yeah, is that a goal?

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (07:43):
At some point, at some point, hopefully I can get
one of those in. I know they'll they'll decline me
and and and throw stuff at me. But you know
that that uh, you know that's that's that's.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Part of it.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
I think for Bears fans, there's been this evolving expectation
like in August, let's just get the train on the tracks,
new coach, and then it's like, well, let's win some games. Well,
let's push for the playoffs to where it is now,
which is like I think we can do anything.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
As we sit here in December, for you, what can
this team achieve this year?

Speaker 4 (08:11):
Anything we want? Uh, it's it's it all comes to us.
It doesn't it doesn't matter what's been said and the outside.
It doesn't matter what you win the game by. It
doesn't matter really anything other than us understanding where we
can go, where we can be, and not not listening
to the outside noise. Oh we're so great because we
have so much. We have so much we can be

(08:32):
better at offensively, defensively, special teams myself, and so you
always got to look in the mirror. You always got to,
you know, realize what's real and what's not. And then
you know, from there, we'll keep growing, We'll keep we'll
keep pushing towards then.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
So what I'm hearing is there's not a party right
now because you guys are the one seed in the NFC.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Yep, No, No, it's we got the whole season left,
is how we think of it. And and we're gonna
keep thinking of that until it's not.

Speaker 5 (08:59):
You and I have talked before about some of the
words that Bears fans use to describe you, save your Messiah.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
We've talked about it. Yeah, the fact is you were
brought here.

Speaker 5 (09:10):
To win a Super Bowl, and I know you know
that's a heavy burden to kick psychologically. How you doing
with that burden?

Speaker 2 (09:16):
I'm good.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Yeah, I get up every single day for that.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
I get up every single day to win for Chicago,
win for Chicago Bears, win for my teammates, and and
ultimately win for legacy. And then and then I get
up every single day because I want.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
I mean, when you win, and when you win something like.

Speaker 4 (09:36):
That, it it says that you're the best. And that's
that's why you get up every single day. That's why
you play this position, that's why you play football.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
You want to be the.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
Best, and so accomplishing those team goals proves everything of
of of.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
Who we are.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
Who I am is a winner. I want to be
the best, and we got to keep growing. We got
to keep accomplishing wins throughout the season.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Regular season.

Speaker 4 (10:01):
Then obviously, you know, get into the dance and you
got you know, it's it's you got one game elimination
in that sense, and so you gotta focus on now.
You gotta focus on I'm accomplishing our goals right now,
which is when in every single game that we have
and starting want to know this week and then you know,
you win one to oh for for the rest of
the season, you'll be exactly where you want to be.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
I got goosebumps, man, I'm excited. It's a great time
to be a Bears fan. Let's have some fun.

Speaker 5 (10:27):
Bears fans have a ton of scar tissue, okay, and
they get scared real easily. Even when things are going well,
they get scared it's gonna go away. So Kimmel does
mean tweets, Kimball, Jimmy Kimmel does mean tweets. I have
scared tweets. No, I've been curating. These are from Bears
fans during games. You guys won.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
This is from week six. You guys defeat the Commanders,
money and football. Great win.

Speaker 5 (10:52):
And this is a Bears fan. I think we should
read it aloud and laugh and maybe help them.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
That's fun.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
In the middle of the win, it says.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
Yeah, fire, Ben Johnson, Sure one and done, same o Bears.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
Trey Williams bum two h needs an extra for the two.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
For the two. It's a typo. This is a huge win. Yeah,
all right.

Speaker 5 (11:17):
So you guys score forty seven points against the Bengals. Yep,
you throw three touchdowns, no picks, you win a shootout.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Bears fans nineteen eighty seven tweets.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
This Okay, wow, this is uh, It says Mike, Bears fan,
nineteen eighty six.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Score.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
Don't forget them to score. This team just a complete
disaster every week. Caleb sucks, Cairo sucks, the special team suck. Okay,
we have no pass rush yep, it's all a problem.
Hashtag Bears. Yeah, kudos to you, Mike. We're nine and three, buddy.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
See what I'm saying. My question is your message to
these fans. Yeah, they're so scared. They know they have
something great. What do you say to them? Looter rate
there camp to tell you, talk to Mike, Talk to.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
Mike, and you know Bears fan, you know, uh, nineteen
eighty seven and all these other guys and and ladies
we're here. We got a certain energy in this building
mm hm that we're gonna keep growing, festering throughout the city,
throughout the world.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
The Chicago Bears are.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
Here and uh, you know, hopefully you tag along before
the train takes off.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Let's go, Yeah, listen to the QB one. Enjoy yourself,
Just enjoy this, have some fun.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
You've You've been through enough, so enjoy yourself.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
It's Christmas time. It's Christmas time. That was amazing. Let's
end with this. This is a Bear city.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
YEP.

Speaker 5 (12:49):
In the forty years since the last Bears championship, the
Bulls have one six yep. The black Hawks have one, three,
the Cubs of one, the White Sox have one.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
A Chicagoan won the White House. Chicago wan is Pope.

Speaker 5 (13:02):
If there is a Super Bowl to come to this city,
all of those would pale in comparison. If you close
your eyes, Caleb. Can you see the party? Can you
feel the parade? And what's it like?

Speaker 4 (13:14):
It's uh, you know, I know that that Chicago Bears
is is Chicago.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
It's the number one.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
And that's something that that I dream about in the
off season. That's something that I I I see, I
visualize something that I I you know, try and try
and speak into existence. Is is those moments and and
forever long that I am here, you know, I'm I'm
going to keep voicing that for myself because that's that's

(13:43):
the end goal. That's something that you try and shoot for.
I'm just having having those moments at the end of
the year, being able to bring something to Chicago that
that that hasn't been here.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
So I gotta keep going. We got to keep growing.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
I gotta keep growing and and we got to keep
getting better for for you know, ourselves and and also
for the city of Chicago.

Speaker 5 (14:02):
The internet would kill me if I didn't ask Macha, yeah,
Macha and wired headphones.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
There's people who track this.

Speaker 5 (14:09):
When you show up with the Macha drink and wired headphones,
you never lose Is this a thing your thoughts?

Speaker 3 (14:14):
That's not a thing?

Speaker 2 (14:15):
Not a thing.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
No, I typically I've actually cut down on my Macha
drink because i used to drink it every day, so
I've cut down a little bit. But having on game
day and then the wired headphones is more for my brain.
So I'm not having Bluetooth and things like that going
you know, sending, sending, waveling brain.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
And things like that.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
So sacred.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
Yeah, it's you know, I need to have a good
brain for for my life and for my job and
things like that. And so uh, that's for the wires
and then for the you know, for the Macha. I'm
not a coffee drinker and so that's my caffeine and
to you know, kind of wire my brain.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Do the Christmas ear rings protect the sanctity of your brain.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Now, this is this is just for chriss Christmas spirits,
Christmas spirits.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
Dude, good better, best help me with it. Never let
it rest.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
Good gets better and you're better, gets best.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Have fun in Wisconsin, man. Yeah, well, great to see you.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
Thank you, appreciate it, Thank you.
