Speaker 1 (00:04):
Ten Takes is a production of the NFL in partnership
with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
JA seventeen. It's great to see you, man, see you too, guy.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
How you doing.
Speaker 4 (00:15):
I'm doing great, thrilled to be here with you. How
is life?
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Life's pretty good?
Speaker 4 (00:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (00:22):
Yeah, after you back from football, you know, ready to
start the season. Married, love my wife, love my family,
and you know, just having that mindset of they're on
no bad days. Some are just better than others. But
I do genuinely wake up and love my life each
and every day. So it's pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
The kids like the vibe checks. The vibe check is
positive with you right now? Absolutely, you've got to glow. Yeah.
We've talked about movies for years. Yep, you have very
strong opinions about movies.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
I'm gonna give you a movie, and I want you
to give me a review. Okay, Sinners come on A
plus A plus plus.
Speaker 5 (01:00):
Why because it combines a lot of different aspects of life.
My wife absolutely kills it. And hopefully ward season coming around.
People make the right decisions.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
So I have a hot take on the movie. Tell
me if this is hot take. I left the movie
theater and I did see it in the theater. I
left the movie there and I thought, I'm ex not,
I'm it's expensive, it's worth it. I should should I
have Imax? The bar at the end is just bigger
and more beautiful. All right, I'm gonna see it. I'm
X again. I left the movie theater and I thought,
(01:34):
the NFL MVP is the second most talented person in
his own marriage.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
Is that a crazy hot take?
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Absolutely not. She's really and I'm okay with it.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
Yeah, yeah, she's friend. She's proud right.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
When we watched it in theaters we watched it first time,
but when we watched it at the premiere, I was
crying at the end, like I was just so proud
of her, Like I get emotional thinking about it.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
But it was a it was a pretty cool experience.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
I can tell you get an emotional You're well and
up already. I know it's all positive. It's very very cool.
I'm so happy for you. I talked to Rogers about this,
and I did the research. Players in this era who
get married in the off season overwhelmingly go on to
have incredible seasons like career best guys like George Kittle,
(02:18):
DeVante Adams across the board.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
So what is it about getting married?
Speaker 2 (02:23):
How is getting married changed you as a man, and
how do you think it might change you as a
football player?
Speaker 5 (02:29):
Yeah, I mean I I the way I have been
talking about it, which can I think the way you
talk about anything is how you perceive it, how like
you're throwing that out into the world. I think there's
so much freedom in marriage. I really do. I think
it frees up a lot of space in your mind
to have the right one there supporting you, and then
(02:50):
in my situation, the one that I get to support
just as much.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
It's there's just this freedom to it. I can't explain
it until you're in it.
Speaker 5 (03:01):
And again, I know it doesn't work for everyone, but
if you're with the right person, you know you're with
the right person. And the way that it can make
me better football players, just like life's good, right like
my I have an unbelievable wife, Like I said earlier,
my family my support system.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
It's just I can't fail, you know, And I truly
do feel that way.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
In what your wife does.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
It's very common for young actors to have the Oscar speech,
and they do it in the mirror and they practice
and they dream.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
One day I'll be able to have this speech. Do
you have the Super Bowl speech?
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (03:37):
You do.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Yeah, it's not written down, but it's up there.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
When did you start building it?
Speaker 5 (03:42):
Probably since I was a little kid. Yeah, yeah, And
it's evolved over the years, obviously. But I can see
the parade. I can feel it. I can you know,
five degrees brisk rolling down here in the bus, roll
over all the sault in the ice yea, thousands upon
thousands of fans filling up downtown Buffalo. I can see
(04:05):
where we're going up on the steps at a city
hall like it's I see it all.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
So you got to make it a turn it into reality.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Now I'm well enough, all right, So you're gonna speak,
last place goes crazy for all your teammates speak. I'm
not gonna ask you what you're gonna say. What's the
tone in your head of that speech?
Speaker 3 (04:26):
And chills?
Speaker 5 (04:27):
Yeah, I think it's it's pretty even keel at the beginning,
and then it's a little crazy at the end.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
You know, one of the guys you grew up watching Peyton.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Peyton has said that he relates to you and that
as someone who would knock on the door a lot
and then finally had to kick it down, and that
Peyton Man says he sees himself in you.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
That's pretty cool.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Yeah. What's that like to hear that?
Speaker 5 (04:54):
I mean, for him to say and it's I mean,
that's really cool. I never would Yeah, you know, he's
one of the best, if not the best, ever played
the game, and for him to say that's pretty cool.
And I've gotten to know him over the last few
years and I've got so much respect for him and
his family and how well they've done, not just in
football but outside of football, and continue to hold him
(05:17):
in the highest regards.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
He's an awesome human being.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Has he ever reached out to you about his experience
with the Patriots and advised you on how to just
keep fighting and keep fighting that type of thing.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
Has he ever reached out to you for that?
Speaker 5 (05:30):
I mean, yeah, I mean we've had our talks in
person of just like you know, it's until it happens,
it's only going to be what everybody talks about.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Yeah, So yeah, I get a like you said, kick
the door down.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
I always think about you that there's nobody better in
the field, There's nobody been in the locker room, incredible
in the community.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
We check all these boxes.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
It's amazing everything you do that there's this burden that
you carry, and there is this cloud that hangs.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Over you of Josh. Is God a big bring the
big one home. He's got to bring it home. How
do you deal with that?
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Honestly, I don't think that way. I really don't.
Speaker 5 (06:02):
I know that's maybe what they talk about in the
media and on TV. And if I've come to grips
with letting being okay with God's timing because it's always perfect, right,
So if it happens this year, if it happens next year,
if it doesn't happen, I'm gonna go out there.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
I'm gonna play as well as I can.
Speaker 5 (06:21):
I'm gonna put my body in the line for my
teammates and ultimately, what I'm doing outside of football in
the community, I think that means more to me than
anything else does. And if I know that I did
everything that I possibly could.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
I can live with that. But we're gonna keep da
We're gonna dan for she. You're gonna keep trying.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
You know who else has the same burden. It's the
guy you see week one. It's Lamar and he gets
all the same questions, and it's all the same conversations
about Lamar.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
You're amazing, you got to do this. How do you
identify with Lamar.
Speaker 5 (06:51):
On that well, one I love I love the discourse
that goes on between fans because I freaking love Lamar Jackson.
I think he's battled so many haters throughout his career
and during the I'm buying teams asking him to work
out in a different position and to be this bona
fide superstar who again does everything the right way as
(07:14):
from a human being standpoint. Again, he's he's awesome. The
way he plays the game is it's I'm in awe
watching him, you know. So the way I relate to
him maybe is just we haven't won the whole thing yet,
but going out there and playing to the best of
our abilities and continuing to keep working hard and improving
our games.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
And I think I see that from him each and
every year.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
You walk that line so well. Of man, I love
that guy. He's great, but he better not get my way.
I gotta take him out because it's him or me. Yeah,
it's like the scene and heat, It's the neuropputina, Like
I gotta take you out movie by the way, you know, yeah,
I had to double check something this morning.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
Josh Allen.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
We're in season eight, yeah, going in the year eight.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
How the hell did that happen?
Speaker 3 (07:54):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
I don't know what happens quick though, And honest to god,
it feels like I'm in year three, year four.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Maybe I still feel like it at heart, you know, going.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
I'm twenty nine years old now, so yeah, times times
a funny thing, isn't it.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
Are you unk?
Speaker 3 (08:12):
I'm oh?
Speaker 4 (08:13):
I mean an uncle for sure? You're an uncle. I
know what you have. You have nephews nieces in this facility.
Are you unk? Not yet?
Speaker 3 (08:20):
I don't think so. I think once you get into
the thirties.
Speaker 5 (08:23):
So I got one more year of not being a
nunk and then probably being enough next year.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
I think Josh Allen is unk adjacent right now.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
Yeah, I can say that.
Speaker 5 (08:31):
Yeah, some of the slanging that's coming in it's just
kind of going over my head.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
So maybe uh skippity riz uh. What's what are you hearing?
Speaker 3 (08:39):
I hear stuff from my whole six seventh thing.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
What is that?
Speaker 3 (08:42):
I wish I could tell you?
Speaker 4 (08:43):
Supposed to know? You're in your tones?
Speaker 3 (08:44):
I don't know what it is. I think it actually
means nothing.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
I don't know, but they say it and I feel
like I'm not cool and I'm old.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Yeah, and you got it in your own locker room.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
Yeah, there's a few guys saying that.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
The cool thing about going in your eighth year, you
have seven years of amazing highlights, just spectacular highlights. Everybody
has their favorite. I have my favorite, my son as
his favorite. What is Josh Allen's favorite Allen highlight?
Speaker 5 (09:05):
My mind goes to rookie year, Jaguars at home, ran
a quarterback draw, stiff armed a d tackle, ran in
for a touchdown. I think we took the lead was thirteen.
I think we won fourteen seven or fourteen six. Maybe
maybe it wasn't, but that one, that one, I don't know.
I think that's like just the moment was like all right,
(09:28):
I was just like I got this.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
I belong.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Yeah, welcome to the NFL's usually when you get trucked, Yeah,
you were on the opposite side of it.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
Yeah, this is for me. Yeah, that's really.
Speaker 5 (09:37):
I think that's I think that's if it may not
look like number one, but that's it feels like number one.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
All right, we're gonna get the video for sure. We
have all the video. We'll get to watch the play.
All right, let's wrap this up. We mentioned we're going
into the year eight.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
If Year eight Josh could go out to lunch with
Year one Josh, it's some wings, a picture and just.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
Talk life, talk ball.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
What kind of wisdom would you impart on your one Josh?
What would you say to your one Josh?
Speaker 5 (10:04):
Process over results? And then I think I alluded it,
alluded to it earlier. Is Trustcott's timing?
Speaker 2 (10:11):
And go check out this movie called True Grit. The
girl is amazing, she's like a prodigy. Right, yeah, oh great,
I go check it out.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
All right? We end? Uh.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
We started with movie reviews, Let's end with movie U
twenty twenty five bills the movie that how would you
like the review of that movie to read?
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Fast paced action pack, Yes, the entire time. Didn't think
the middle could be better than the start, and didn't
think the ending could be better than the middle, And
the start finished on a high.
Speaker 4 (10:43):
Note, finished on a high note. Yeah, award winning one.
You got your popcorn ready?
Speaker 3 (10:49):
I didn't.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
There's nobody better than Mom j A seven favors.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
