Speaker 1 (00:04):
Ten Takes is a production of the NFL in partnership
with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Like, there's stuff to be nervous about, because the problem
is is that you go to Josh Allen and he's
asked and asked this question of you know, what.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
More can you do?

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Josh, Like, you play really well in these playoff losses.
The fact is in the playoffs, guys, he has thirty
three total touchdowns and six turnovers, Like he plays great,
and yet at the end they still lose. And he'll say, well,
there's this throw that I missed here, and I got
to make this throw here. But then you're talking about perfection.
No one's ever going to be perfect. He's fantastic in
these games, and they still lose. And that's why I

(00:55):
just think I go back to the Week one matchup
of him and Lamar, they really have the same story.
They're in the same draft class, they've both been MVPs,
they've both been fantastic, both lose to Kansas City in
the playoffs, So one of them is probably not going
to get through and win a championship, maybe both of them.
It's just I always say with the Ravens, I've said
this to you guys this summer.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
It's it's a one month conversation. Just I'll see you
in January.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
I don't have any questions about the Ravens other than
can you win that extra game in January. I would
say the same thing about Buffalo. I know they're gonna
be good. I know there's gonna be great highlights, they're
gonna win games. Can you get over the hump? And
that's why I just think full circle. The Peyton Manny
thing is very interesting, and Peyton has been very candid
that he sees himself in Josh and that he identifies

(01:41):
with Josh in the sense that Peyton would be in
the playoffs every year and he would always be knocking
on the door and then the Patriots would beat him
and it would just end and it was over, and
it's like, am I ever going to get through this? Eventually,
two thousand and six, Peyton gets the Patriots, he beats them,
he goes on to win the Super Bowl, and he's like,
I'm watching Josh have the same story with Kansas City,
and I've reached out to Josh and I've said, just.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Keep chopping wood. You'll get through. You'll get through. Will
he we.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Don't know, but Buffalo, Baltimore, Josh Lamar, great teams, great quarterbacks.
That's sometimes you don't get through. We'll see this year.
As always, I think this team is I think mantis
all over it. There's no dramatic changes that it's not
like they brought in this massive free agent who's going
to change everything. They're essentially running it back and there's questions.

(02:26):
There's a lot of questions about their secondary, there's questions
about other parts of the team.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
But we will see in January.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
And I know that's not a take, but it's like,
what can you say other than Baltimore and Buffalo, Other
than we'll see Philip Rivers was lurking there and the
Chargers had some really good teams, and he's a guy
who was prolific who ended up not getting there. They
had a different deal back then because you had Roethlisberger
also showing up and the Steelers were a big factor.
So Roethlisberger kind of represented like that Joe Burrow other

(02:52):
man in who could come in and rip the rug
out of everything. But it was all coming back to Brady.
Even the years that Brady didn't win it, they were
involved in it. So that's Mahomes of this era, and
somebody's got knock him off. And the closest anybody's ever
really done it in the AFC has borrowed it at once. Okay,
but that's it. It all comes back to Mahomes. And listen,
when I sit with Josh Allen, you sit down and

(03:13):
you think, like, all right, I got to ask him
about the Chiefs and getting over the hump. I can't
sit there for fifteen minutes and not get to that
topic just because you think maybe that's a trigger. He
gets asked all the time, can I get over the Chiefs.
He was perfectly happy to talk about that stuff. He
doesn't clam up. He does He's not get defensive. He
knows exactly what time it is. He's very aware. This

(03:35):
is his eighth season, he's the MVP, has all the
money as everything, but he's never played in a super
Bowl before. You know, he has seven playoff wins and
he has not been to a super Bowl. That's really unprecedented.
It doesn't happen. You don't win that many games as
a quarterback and not get to a super Bowl in
the playoffs. It's becoming a thing where it's like when
is this going to happen? And I think, to his
credit and the Bill's credit, this is not some boogeyman.

(03:57):
The Kansas City Chiefs, they understand and are completely willing
to say, we know we have to get through them,
and until we do, you can ask us about it.
There's so much noise coming off of this preseason game,
a lot of noise, and it's not coming from Shador.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
He played as hard as he could.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
He said all the right things after the game, and
I totally respect it.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Let's just do a quick recap.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Joe Flacco played, played really well, Dylan Gabriel played, he
played well, and then the fifth round rookie played and
it was all over the place. And I see people
angry that he's out there with backups and deep backups.
Do you think he's going to be out there with
the starters? And you say, well, no, he's different. He's
a special player.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
He's not a special player right now.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
He has a special background, he has a special media relationship.
But no, he doesn't get special treatment. He doesn't cut
the line. He shouldn't get handled differently. And I'll tell
you this, Shaduur Sanders in this preseason through twenty nine passes.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
That is more than Jalen Milroe on.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
The Seahawks, who was drafted two rounds ahead of him.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
He had chances.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
And I see people upset that Shadur was taken out
of the game at the end, that he should have
been able to finish, to run the Browns final two
minutes drill, but he was taken.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Out for snow Puntley.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Well, maybe Kevin Stefanski has seen enough. Maybe you don't
want a rookie or any player to take five sacks
in a preseason game. Maybe you thought it wasn't right
for Shador, so you say get him out. Or maybe
maybe it's Kevin Stefanski's job to evaluate all the players.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
That he'd seen a ton of Shador.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
And he wanted to see something from Snoopuntley, a guy
who came into a tough situation in training, camped and
worked his butt off. Snoop got them the game winning
field goal and has properly been cut. I just guys,
can't for one second really embrace any notion or theory
that the brown said, yes, let's draft Shadoor just to
intentionally mess him up. Okay, he is getting more opportunities

(05:46):
than any other quarterback three slash quarterback.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Four in the league. And you know, depending on what
you read on the internet.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
First with Shador it was a league conspiracy, and now
the Browns coach is conspiring against him. At what point
is it the responsibility of the player. And again shaduur's
playing hard and keeping his mouth shut.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
I respect it. But anyone thinks sha.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Door isn't getting fair treatment, I will tell you that
the fifth round pick just completed three passes for fourteen
yards and took five sacks in his final preseason audition
and he's going to make the fifty three.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Man roster as one of four quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
So if you think he's getting unfair treatments, I think
you're right. I don't know when Schadu is going to
get his chance. He may not get his chance all year.
He's a fifth round rookie who is a third string quarterback.
He only gets his chance if Joe Flacco gets injured,
of course, and then Dylan Gabriel's gonna come in and
he would have to get injured or both of them
will have to play poorly, and then Browns will have

(06:45):
to that A lot has to happen for Shador Sanders
to start a game this year for the Browns and
play with the ones. Most likely it won't happen. And
I don't think that's a bad thing. It's an odd
thing that you see so many people online and in
the media when you draft someone say really high, and
they say, do the mahomes things, store them on the bench,
just let them, let him learn, let him learn. But

(07:05):
for some reason with Shador, who wasn't even drafted hither,
like he should be playing now. Well, if you're a
Shaduur fan and you want to see him have long
term health in the league and really succeed, why do
you want him to play right away just to prove
you right or just so he gets justice served. His
best interest is to watch Joe Flacco and maybe watch
Dylan Gabriel. Just wait, Maybe Camp doesn't start a game

(07:27):
till next year. Maybe it's I'm not Cam, I'm talking
about Shadur. Maybe he doesn't start a game till next
year or two.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
Years from now. It's just that's fine. There's no reason
we get him in as fast as possible.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
It doesn't seem the best for his career, his football.
It maybe seems the best for you and what you
want and what you're screaming about in the media.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
But get his chance. Maybe.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Guys the NFL passed on Shador one hundred and forty
three times in the draft. They all felt very similar,
including the Browns about Shador that maybe maybe long time.
So if you ask some of Shador as loud as
most vocal supporters, he should be starting Week one for
the Browns. That's probably not the best thing for him.
So I want to see him get his chance too,
but not until he's ready and it presents itself and

(08:11):
just get ready. Like he may not play a snap
this year. He's the third string quarterback. Thirst ring quarterbacks
don't play. So I get it. You love him, he's famous,
he's got a great story.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
I agree.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
I'm rooting for him, but I'm rooting for him to
play when the time is right for him, not for
anybody screaming about. Yesterday was a really, really memorable day's
unbelievable twist for all of us who followed the NFL.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
You get the shock and awe.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Of the trade and then immediately into the bluster and
the noise of.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
The press conference. It's set up.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
I felt like I was watching the hot dog eating
competition on the fourth of July.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Here we go.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
You have a three time All Pro who you drafted, homegrown,
good dude, great player, gone, and you.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Trade it into a team who you play a.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Month from now, a team that beats you in the
playoffs in your house by nine hundred points, into a franchise.
Not exactly riverboat gamblers when it comes to free agents
in big trades, and yet they put the money together
in twelve seconds after you were bloviating about it for
five months. So that happens. What do you do to
sit down and talk about it. Well, your first take is,

(09:14):
we can use these picks to get pro bowlers. That's
like saying I got twenty million in the bank and
I'm gonna say we can spend it all on scratch
offs to get money. You have money, you can get
pro bowlers. You have Micah Parsons. Even if you do
get pro bowlers, Jerry, eventually they will want proper compensation

(09:36):
and then apparently you will trade them. And then the
first round picks you know you got, you know these
are Packers' first round picks, right, They're gonna be in
the twenties, and everybody knows it, does Jerry, Why do
I feel like I'm telling my grandma to make sure
she turns off the burner after she makes her tee
on the stove.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
Do you understand how this works?

Speaker 2 (09:54):
Then you say, well, we need to stop the run.
Saying we need to stop the run, so let's trade.
Michael Parsons is like saying we need to run the
ball better, so let's trade. Ceed lamb, Jerry, you're gonna
have to play Micah this year, not Michael, by the way,
Mike go you're gonna have to play him this year. Well,
he said I had to play Emmitt Smith when he

(10:14):
was on the Cardinals. Jerry, Emmett was careening into his
mid thirties when he was on the Cardinals. You played
against him. He had six carries for negative one yard.
He was in a walker with tennis balls on the bottom.
This is a different deal. Well, it's just like Herschel walker.
It's just like Herschel. Why do I feel like I'm
talking to a guy who peaked in high school, who
just wants to go back to the good old days,

(10:36):
and who stalks his girlfriend's Instagram every night when he
gets drunk.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
Why do I feel like again?

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Jerry Jones is trying to speak like he is in
a documentary and loading quotes for the next documentary and
leaving space for editing that it will play well. But Jerry,
here's the sad part. There's not gonna be a next documentary.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
What would it be on? What would be the topic?

Speaker 2 (10:57):
You already did the Super bowls thirty years ago.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
It's over. There is no new topic.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
But everyone who is saying right now now at home,
If you're saying, man, I remember the Cowboys Dynasty. When's
the next dynasty? I have news for you. We're in it.
We're in the middle of the Cowboys Dynasty. Number one
documentary on Netflix, hit Cheerleaders show on Netflix, leading every
TV show, every podcast, and last night was his Super

(11:23):
Bowl because I looked at the trending topics on Twitter
and here's what I saw.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Bring up there it is have a parade.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Pop the champagne Cowboys one, Jerry Jones two. Probably better
if Jerry Jones was one.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Boy.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Can you do you know why I don't see up there.
I don't see Jeffrey Lourie, I don't see Howie Roseman,
I don't see Eagles.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
I don't see Chiefs. I see Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
That's their super Bowl, that's their dynasty.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
You know what I say. I think the Cowboys are
gonna get crushed by the Eagles next week.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
Crushed, But who cares the season is over, because the
offseason is the season for the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
At this punt.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
They used to be a football company, did content on
the side, and now they are content company who does
football on the side. And last night was their Academy Award.
So congratulations Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
You wanted again?

Speaker 2 (12:12):
How about those Cowboys?
