Speaker 2 (00:24):
Well, the annoying friends in the group chat are like, well,
one's the draft, which is pathetic. The smart ones, the
cool ones are like, tough loss, very disappointing. We move on.
And that's exactly what I thought. Ben Johnson just said
he was disappointed, and that really is basically it. Do
I have huge takeaways about the season, and Caleb, no,
not yet. I may a week from now, I may
a few days from now. Here they go Week two.

(00:45):
We got our feet on the ground. We're playing real football.
We've shaken out all the nerves. And now the Bears
are playing a Detroit Lions team against which they always
play tough, against which last year, even amidst a ten
game losing streak that got their head coach fired, Caleb
Williams played really well, played well at Soldier Field against
the Lions last year, played well on the road against
the Lions last year.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
So let's go.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Everyone's making funny of who everyone's doing all the memes
and this is terrible and this isn't working again and
same old Bears. So go in there and light it up.
Stay calm, keep your feet on the ground. I have
no big takeaways from that game other than it was
extremely disappointing. They have a lot of work to do
and they have to get healthier.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
I do have one though.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
In the world of look good, feel good, feel good,
play good, can someone please take Caleb aside and get
rid of that undershirt that he wore the other night?
This is out of control. I have never seen this
look on a starting quarterback, maybe outside of the sixties.
I know he goes by the beat of his own drummer,
but it's look like he's dressing out of his own hamper.

(01:41):
I don't know what that look was. Can we tighten
it up? Get an elastic sleeve? Can we tuck in?
Why did anybody with the Bears organization let him leave
the locker room like that. There's a mirror right before
you go out in the locker room, Mike, you've seen it.
You want to make sure your socks are up, you
want to make sure your everything's buttoned. This is a
ridiculous slacker slouch. Look, the guy's going out there dressed

(02:03):
like Jesse pink And in season one like.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
We can't have that. Caleb, tighten it up a little bit. Okay,
I got you, I respect you.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
But that's the first thing he needs to do before
the throws get better.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
The close got to get better.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
If you were to tell the Eagles or the Cowboys
rather that the Eagles arguably best player and the entire
team is tossed up before you play one down and
Saquon has sixty yards and you don't win.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
I mean, that's how are you gonna be these guys?
If not that one.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
The Cowboys didn't score a point in the second half, Like,
that's that's not great. I can't I can't say great job, Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
This is not one of these up and coming teams.
You know.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
This is not the Carolina Panthers. This is supposed to
be the Dallas Cowboys. Dak played really well. I'm not surprised.
That's very good. Dak's maybe the I don't know, ninth
best quarterback in the league. He put them in a
position to win. The Star White out dropped the pass
and that's it. But I actually feel like this one
slipped through their fingers because imagine if they flipped the
tables on Banner Night in Philadelphia and actually one that's

(03:00):
some really cool stuff to talk about the fact that.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
They played solid.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
It's I'm not going to say that's a Dallas Cowboys,
not in a year like this, not with the roster
they have. I don't care if Michael Parsons is there
or not. They had that game and they gave it away,
and I feel like, sure, feel optimistic, but also feel regretful.
He was right there, Michael Pennix junior in a loss.
It's not someone we talk about a lot. Did you
get to see him play much.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
In this game?

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Because if you were a Falcons Falcons fan and I
wrote on a piece of paper and slid it across
the desk that Michael Pennix would throw forty two passes,
have zero turnovers, flirt with three hundred yards, and put
his position team in a position and win at the
end of the game, you'd.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Be like, hell, yes, I'll take that. He did all
those things.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Baker was a better quarterback in this game, because Baker's
Baker at this point.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Penix was everything you would want.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
He makes the plays running at the goal line, he's
stretching for the touchdown again, no turnovers, forty two passes,
no picks, no loss bumbles. He gets be John involved,
and it's like the second year guy starting the season
opener against the Tampa Bay team that some people have
in the Super Bowl and all you gotta do is
just make a kick and we're cooking.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
And they don't do it.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
So I thought Pennix in a loss, was like, yeah,
we can win with that. We can play with that
all year long. So he didn't have the big shiny results.
He's not in the Neon, but Hennix, that's a passing
that's a better than a passing grade. I'll give you
a beef plus per Week one, and I'll take that
every time.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
The Ravens lost that game, and it's sort of like,
who cares. They're still gonna be great. They're still gonna
be in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
So you can't tell me an all time classic is
Week one when just it's not nearly the stakes of
a playoff game or even something coming down the stretch
in December to determine this and that a wonderful, entertaining game.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
But then you also get the try hards who're like,
I want my games with defense. Defense is what runs
this league. So I think it's a great beat.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
So it's not only one of these teams is gonna
be owned.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Two.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
In Week three, the Bears play the Cowboys are very good.
In Week three, the Lions go at the Ravens, which
I don't know if they're gonna.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Win that game.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
So there's big, big time stakes here, and I am
just all eyeballs on Kayleb Williams. I'll tell you why,
because I believe in the Lions, that I believe in
Jared Goff. They've been up and down the block many
many times, they've been through this before. They will get
up and they will have a really good.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Product at home.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
I know that I don't know what I'm getting from Caleb.
I don't know what I'm getting from Ben Johnson. And
you know what I'm looking at. I'm looking at all
of the cutaways of Ben Johnson on the sideline. I
want to see his body language. I want to see
his facial expressions when Caleb misses, if Caleb gets sacked,
if Caleb does this that I just I'm fascinated by
this relationship right now. Because there was a lot of

(05:31):
sign from Ben Johnson. There was almost some eye rolls.
There's the lean back thing that he does. He's looking
out right there right there.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
That's the love we got.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
I want to see if we get that look, and
I want to see how they're talking. If it starts rough,
if it starts well. Remember everyone is championing, championing, championing.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
In hardware to say anything.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
The first drive of the Bears against the Viking season guys,
they're like, oh, that was a Ben Johnson masterclass.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
That was nonsense.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
All of it was checkdowns and ad libs by Caleb.
That was not some well oiled machine. Even think Ben
Johnson liked the first touchdown drive. So I think he
is like, all right, kid, I came in here.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
To coach you. You get one game that was a stinker.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Now you better get going now or I'm gonna start
screaming on the sideline. Watch him in this game. Not
only that, the emotions for him back in that house
against his old coaching buddy and Dan Campbell, like this
is a big, big day for Ben Johnson, and if
Caleb messes it up for him, like I don't know this,
the sideline shots is gonna be fantastic.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Miciu's me all the entertainment from him.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
One of those expressions to hear that I really disagree
with in the world of football is never meet your heroes. Oh,
you should take a chance meet your heroes, especially if
your hero is a twenty three year old running back
from Rio Lindo, California named Camp Scataboo. Guys, I've been
doing Angry Runs for about eight years.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
You know it. You've seen it. I scream about it.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
I've handed out over well over one hundred scepters. I
have never hand delivered a scepter to an Angry Runs
winner until yesterday, roll the video.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
I went to the New York Giants.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Facility, who were incredibly gracious and welcoming me into their
hallway is to meet the Angry Runs winner from week one,
a rookie out of Arizona State named Camp Scataboo.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
We walked the hallways with.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
The shirt, the box, the escort, video cruise producer. I'm
on here in New York and finally I met my
man in the flesh and it was glorious.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Yeah, can we get it?

Speaker 2 (07:26):
My man?

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Come on, don't worry.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
I had done this for eight years.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
I have never delivered one in person before Barkley, you
know Cam Scattered, who.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Gets this delivered in person?

Speaker 1 (07:40):
I love you, man, I'm so happy for the appreciating.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
I had a feeling this was going to happen. I
think you knew this was going to happen. Did you
think it was going to happen with the first touch
of your first game? No, not the first.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
One, but I mean I knew it was going to happen.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
But of course we've been talking about I'm so far though,
and thank you, Like I feel like I had stocking you.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
It's at angry Stock and now I'm proud of you.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
I'm fired out like I got good spunks right now.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
Appreciate the best. It was glorious.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
I love every bit of I was like a little
kid getting an autograph from my favorite player.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
I have to tell you guys too. Skataboo has this.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Really cool cockiness about him where he was like, yeah,
I'm not surprised. I knew this was gonna happen, and
I go, yeah, I hope to see you soon.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Man.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
When I left, He's like, yeah, you'll be coming back here.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
This is a rookie.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
A rookie running back was allegedly number three on the
depth chart. He already has plans for what he's gonna
do decoratively in his apartment with the scepter. He already
has a space for the second scepter. He gets like
he fully expects to start collecting these things, and I
just again, I feel like I'm six years old, hanging
over the barricades at training camp getting an autograph from
my favorite player. It was so fun, Mike and I

(08:49):
loved it.
