Speaker 1 (00:04):
Ten Takes is a production of the NFL in partnership
with iHeartRadio guys.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
For the Bears, it's like I always tell you, I
always tell you Week.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Two is the liar, Okay, so we look forward to
week now. Listen.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
I got a lot of texts from people last night
in my Chicago Bears text chains. They're like, gotta tell you, man,
you better annihilate the Bears tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
You better light them up. I'm not going to do that.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
When I see something that is down and so really
pitiful and just crying and leaking and bleeding, I don't
sit there and try to stomp on it.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
I will have an airing of grievances though. Across the board.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
I was told that the offensive line was going to
be quote unquote fixed, and I heard that Joe Toney
was going to solve everything in the interior. Then I
saw yesterday they did a quarterback sneak on third and
one and fourth and one and got stopped both times.
I was told Dennis Allen is going to fix the defense.
He's a fantastic defensive coordinator. No, they just gave up
fifty two bleeping points. It's like the fourth most the

(01:15):
Bears have ever given up in the Super Bowl era.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
I was told the front office.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Is solid, that we extend the GM and everything, and
then I don't see really any of the rookies, and
so few of the young players doing anything.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Yesterday, specifically Coaston.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Lovelin, the guy they picked over Tyler Warren who had
zero catches on one target. I was told that Ben
and Caleb were gonna have this amazing relationship and it's
going to go on and flourish yet again, really good
looking first drive and then for the rest of the game.
That now seems to be a pattern. And guys, I
would just say to Bears fans who want blood, it's
time to recalibrate expectations. And no one needs to do

(01:49):
it more than me. There is not going to be
a dream season. It's not going to be like that.
Just not going to happen. You gotta dout sit and
say a month from now, how are we going to look?
How are we going to look at Thanksgiving? Is Caleb
getting better? Is it different from this? Is their progress?
Because now it's like we got to crawl before we
can walk. I don't even know if they're crawling yet.
That's just what it is, and I was hooting and

(02:10):
hollering like anybody else. That's not going to happen. It's
not going to happen. They're playing the Cowboys. They got
another game.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
They got to buy. See how you're feeling at the by.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Because the other thing I'd take away is that, oh wow,
Dan Campbell ran it up.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Yeah, yeah, of course he did. Really, he didn't kick
the field goal.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
You know, I didn't kick the field goal because he
kicked everything else. And the bears their head, their teeth,
they're growing their butt. He kicked every single one of them.
He's not going to kick the field goal. See how
we are at the buy. Here's the problem for me.
We finally found a fissure in our relationship mine with
the tust push. I can take all the rugby comparisons.

(02:46):
I can take. Nobody can stop. I don't care about
any of that. I don't care that you're bored. I
do care about that.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
The Eagles blatantly false start when they run it. That's
against the rules.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
You can't have your guards and tackles clearly be ahead
of the ball before the ball's even snapped. And if
you've seen the shot going around on social media. It's
not even close. The Eagles helmets are already passed the
ball before the ball is even snapped.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
That's not a play that is against the rules. That is.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
I I'm not offended by the tous push because it's
boring or tedious or any of that nonsense. Too bad,
But if it's an actual, blatant false start, then there's
a problem. Here's the other problem, guys. I think the
writing's on the wall. I think that this this play
has one more year. I think they will ban it
next year. So I think the Sirianni knows that, and
I think he is going to run this thing till
the wheels come off. Like we saw it so many

(03:32):
times yesterday, We're gonna see it even more.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Is like, you know, like if you know, like you're
if a kid, you know your PlayStation is going to
be taken away at the end of the day.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
You just play that thing for hours, you get blisters
on your thumbs.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
We're going to see so much toush push.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
So if you hate it, get used to it, because
this year, oh my god, they're going.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
To run it so much.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
The Detroit Lions put up fifty two points last week
in one game in one game, and you know, hidden
amongst all the Bears talk with Ben Johnson and Caleb
this and Caleb that they do have a defense and
this guy is on it, Montes Sweat. Okay, very simple,
right now, there's chatter out in these streets in Chicago

(04:13):
that this guy makes a lot of money, he has
a very very highly paid defense events and the production
is not there.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
It's only two weeks.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Maybe it comes sack combs and birds in spurts, but
somebody has to make a play on this defense. Somebody
has to do anything on this defense. They have to
win this game this weekend. They have to get to
one and two. And I'm being very gentle here because
I respect Montes Sweat. He's a good vetteran, He's a
really talented guy. But let's just say the Bears fans
are not being gentle, and they're basically saying.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Where the bleep are you?

Speaker 2 (04:42):
I know where you should be this week, and it
should be in the backfield.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
I believe you will.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
But until we see it, like nobody is making any plays,
defense will be for the Bears.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
It needs to start with this guy.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
I think it's interesting to look at it through the
prism of last year in which they never really looked
good all year and they won fifteen games. So now
they don't look good but they're losing. It's they're just
stacking losses and eventually becomes too many. My take on
these Chiefs is that there is one thing that will
convince me that they are cooked and that I should panic,
and it is mathematics. When they are mathmatically eliminated. And

(05:15):
let me tell you why. I'm not just talking off
the top of my head. Let's say the Chiefs lose
to the Giants. Let's say they lose to the Ravens
and they're sitting there at zero to four. What I
know about this team is that in the month of December,
Patrick Mahomes is twenty two and six. In the month
of November he is twenty one and four. And follow this,
the last four games when the Chiefs could be coming

(05:36):
and scrapping and cloying, and they got Worthy and they
got Rice. The last four games on their schedule, it's
the three divisional opponents and it's the Titans. That is
an opportunity right there to go four and oho in
December and say we're taking this thing back because we
don't need the Chiefs to win the division even you
just don't want the Chiefs in the club in January,

(05:57):
having riddled off let's say five of the last six,
and they have their full Arsenal and Rice and Worthy
in everybody right now, it's not pretty at all.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
I would not be shocked if they lose.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
To the Russell Wilson New York Giants this weekend and
then the Lamar Jackson Ravens after it's zero to four.
But until those guys are cold, mathematically done, I am
not bailing on it.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
I've seen him late season too many times.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
I've seen the weapons they're getting back, and I love
the schedule in December that break glass in case of emergency.
They got to win those games. There's an opportunity. So
in terms of the rooting against factor, let's look at
the Eagles. The head coach check. Yes, Now, what I
mean by that is I like Nick Sirianni, but he
is not one of these figures like Andy Reid who's

(06:41):
just across the board lovable and everybody likes him. He's polarizing. Okay,
big check there. The quarterback, I like him. Jalen Hurt
says some things that the everyman fan does not like
about him.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
He is really handsome. That can work against you.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
He has a distinct way of speaking in press conferences
that is off putting to some people. I think there's
some of that. Plus he's the face of the Tush push.
We'll get to that morn a bit fan base, Oh yeah,
big check.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Infamous fan base.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Off putting to some people, not for everybody. The general manager.
Check Howie Roseman's coming up with too many dubs. People
get annoyed by someone who's that successful that often. He's
got kind of this grand Moth Tarkin feel to him.
Now where he's this overseer. He checks it. Now, you
got to have a wild card if you want true
fan dislike, all right. For the Patriots, it was all

(07:27):
their collection of gates and the appearance of impropriety. Honestly,
for the Chiefs it was Taylor Swift. People had strong
feelings about her otherwise it was this whole thing that
made part of the conversation.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
And for the Eagles it's a touch push.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
It is a hugely controversial thing that I think this
past weekend against the Chiefs took a massive jump in
terms of being hated, being controversial because it appears to
be an a legal play now, not just a polarizing one. Also,
if you want to sprinkle some more on top, I
still think there's some backlash the Eagles attached to Jason
Kelsey and how ubiquitous his and people are saying they've

(08:00):
seen enough of that to blow back against it. One
of their most bit Saquon. I think it's very likable.
I don't have a lot to look at him every time.
Everybody likes watching Saquon play football. So there are some
things going for.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
The Eagles in terms of likability, But.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
There is a huge, huge mountain that is getting bigger
every single week in terms of unlikability. But the best
part is the Eagles are the kind of team, personnel
and town to say, awesome, we love that.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
We're not fun warm.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Little Kansas city with our barbecue and our big drum
and Melissa Athridge and Paul Rudn No, No, the Eagles are like, yeah,
you think you're better than me, try to take me
like that's their whole deal. So they like that. They
don't be like they didn't like that they're not liked. Yeah,
and I think we've arrived there. The new York Giants.
It's not just they've had the last few years. Most
of time they lose, They lose a lot at home.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
They have a really.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Rough experience for the fans at home, and I know
that drives ownership crazy. You're at home this weekend and
National TV it's at night. You can bring the family.
The Chiefs are coming to town with the same record
as you. You're all owing too. They're bleeding, they're susceptible,
they're vulnerable. This is an opportunity for like an estate
win for this season. Beat Patrick Mahomes and Kelsey and

(09:14):
Reid and all those guys, which you can based on
what I've seen. I don't look at it as doom
and gloom yet. I know they're Rowe and two, but
there's sparks and last week they scored a lot of points.
You beat the Chiefs and you be the team to
send the Chiefs to zero to three, then that's finally
something to hang your hat on and build from.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
It's not time to be down in the gutter.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
It is it time to say, let's cash in this,
what this opportunity.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Do the great things you're meant to do.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
New York Giants come on I love this year that
we're onto week three and there has been what very
little MVP talk. I enjoy that this MVP topic in
our industry has way bloated and out of control, and
by that after week one people start saying, who's your
MVP front runner? It's absolutely nuts. And last year I

(09:59):
think it hits Apex with the two of them. Now
that was genuinely intriguing down the stretch because it could
have gone either way. But this thing now, I think
it's because people can gamble on it, and I think
it's because people are just hungry for content. I don't
want to hear MVP talk until after Halloween.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
We get into November and then we can start saying it.
You google it. Right now it's like.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Justin Herbert MVP and it's like, guys, we just kicked
off easy on the MVP talk. There's so many other
things to talk about. I don't like MVP talk this early.
See me after Halloween, then we'll do it. But right now, pleasantly,
refreshingly very little. This team is so ten and seven
slash nine and eight. I can't stand it. They are

(10:38):
right there. After two weeks. It's exactly what you want.
But here's my take on this. We said Mike Tomas
never gonna up thirty points twice the row to start
the season. His defense, he didn't really. And let me
explain why you guys know this. I'm coaching youth tackle
football fifth and sixth graders for the first time ever.
We had our first game over the weekend. We did win,
but there's a moment in the game where we're in

(10:59):
like the fourth quarter, guys, and our offense for three
and a half quarters has run.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
The exact same cadence.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
You just go on one down, set, hut, over and
over and over.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
You got to keep it simple.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
In the fourth quarter, we were having trouble running the ball,
so we call it time out. We bring all these
eleven kids over and we look all at them. We go, listen,
we're gonna go on too. Don't fall start. We're gonna
go on too. They're gonna jump off sides, We're gonna
go on to. We had to call it time out
just to talk over that. We were going on to
you ready, Are you ready? And they're yes, yes, yes,
and we're like they go. We send them off, and

(11:31):
all of us coaches are like, hold on to your butts.
Here we go and they go down set hut and
one of the kids moved and it's all right, it's
all right, we've went.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
We false started the kids. It's week one. Fine.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
The reason I'm bringing that up is that you could
have taken that kid or all eleven kids on my
fifth and sixth grade football team and put them back
returning kicks for the Steelers, and none of them would
have let that ball go into the end zone and
just sit there, all right. You could have taken a
ten year old or an eleven year old. None of
them are making this play, all right. That is inexcusable
for the NFL. It's excuseable for the Steelers standard, in

(12:06):
which they literally say the standard is the standard.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
This is not on the Steelers defense.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Don't put it down in history that they give up
thirty points two weeks in row, because they did not.
They did not give up that touchdown. I'm telling you,
we could have looked at any of our collection of
Aiden's and Caden's on my whole team, and all the
Aidens and all the Catens would have picked up that kickoff.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
But the Steeler didn't.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
I don't know if the Titans are gonna win ten
games this year. I don't know if they're gonna win
six games this year. I think I'm least worried about
them because I think they have the right quarterback.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
It's a broader picture of the Titans.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
I know that it's been modest statistically with cam Ward.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
I just think the optics and.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
If you watch the games outside of the highlights and
you really watch the Titans, everything about his presence and
his body language and his confidence is there. That's all
I care about right now for cam Ward. I don't
need them to light it up statistically. I just want
him to look like he belongs and he does. Maybe
not this year and yet, but I'm not worried about
the Titans long term. I think they made the right choice.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
I get it that the number is. It doesn't imply
where the Titans you think are at in terms of
their skill set and the guy that they have a quarterback. Kyle,
I'm wondering why you said you were supposed to say Texans.
Is somebody get in your ear and say, hey, you
should really say the Texans. Are you feeling some obligations?

Speaker 2 (13:14):
It's just like you look at the lists and like
they're winning playoff games and stuff. They're in there, and
it's like, well, we should probably say the Texans because
everybody picks them to win the South.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
They just beat the Chargers in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
A year ago, and yet I look at them and listen, Obviously,
there's a lot of teams I'm highly concerned about, but
one that jumps off that you're like, no, no, I
think they're fine.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
It's tough.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
Somebody goes to the Chiefs, sure, listen, Bears, heavily concerned, Giants,
and all these are obvious.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
The Texans should be.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
The one that's like, hello, we're the Texans. But based
on this year alone, like I don't love what I see.
