out with Aaron Rodgers on a full moon. Okay, that's
number one, number two Lamar Jack's and was just franchise
tag by the Ravens. It absolute chaos. Fans are freaking
out everywhere. What is going on in the world of NFL.
We have my good buddy and literally Monday morning, I

woke up and I said, I need to talk to
Dan Hans is okay, we need to get Jets fans
temp this week. So without further ado, Dan take it away.
Oh okay, welcome to the Bench with Banetta podcast. This
is a new this is a new one for us folks. Okay,

well online for I don't know, probably about thirty five
to thirty eight dollars with the shipping, and it was

Jets fans a year ago, this time, you were trying
to kind of create Zach Wilson as something that is

which clearly he was not this past season, and it's
put the Jets in some unprecedented territory. It is pretty crazy. Rachel.

you know, flashpoint moments potentially in the history of the Jets.
Were in the waiting period right now, and there are
enormous organizational and fan implications over what could happen even
in the next hour. So good timing on the book.
I gotta tell you. I woke up Monday morning, texted
my producers right away and I was like, what if
we had And this was just after finding out that

Derek Carr had signed to the Saints. I was just like, Dan,
I need Dan on the podcast because I saw you know,
you guys chatting. You know, Derek's a nice like backup
plan if we don't get Aaron Rodgers. Now that safety
net is gone. I was like, we gotta get zoos
around the pod. And then the things that have unfolded
within the last thirty minutes even okay, so let's just

update the peeps. Diana Rassini just tweeted the New York
Jets have flown on a private plane to California to
meet with Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers got permission to chit
chat with the Jets. I mean, what are you feeling
as a fan wearing a Zach Wilson his Goose shirt?
What do you what are you thinking? Like? The Jets

are going to Aaron Rodgers, they want this to happen.
Is this something that could potentially come to be within
I don't know, the next twenty four or forty eight,
I don't know. Oh, absolutely it has the potential. At
this point, getting on the plane means they are on
the ten yard line potentially here. You know, here's the
thing you know in life, when when you're maybe in

a bit of a rough patch and things aren't going
your way and you feel like you got to mix
things up and say yes to some things that you
would typically say no to, whether it's a job or
you know, a significant other, or you know, going on
a vacation or doing this or doing that, and usually
you'd be like, no, that's not me. But sometimes you're like, man,

I gotta do something to change my life, so I
will say yes. And that's how I feel about Aaron Rodgers.
That there's so much as a Jets fan that concerns
me about Rogers at this stage of his career and
quite frankly, his life that makes me wonder how this
would work. And I actually worry less about his statistical

drop off last year because he was obviously so good
winning VP the two years before that, and he was
injured and didn't have a great yeah right, they didn't
have a great supporting cast around him in terms of playmakers,
So that concerns me. Last what concerns me more is
if he comes to the Jets and this is a

city and a region starving for the Jets to be
relevant and be a champion after fifty three straight years
of nothing like there is, it's going to be a
circus that's kind of potentially on par with Tebow for
people that were following football ten or eleven years ago,
and it will just be madness. And is Rogers at
(07:55):
a place in his life where he could process that,
tune out the distractions and focus on giving the Jets
a Super Bowl trophy? Again, I don't know. I don't
know if that's where his headspace is at. And I
think that's part of this fact finding mission that the
Jets are taking part in right now, flying to California,
face to face conversation and see where this guy is at,

if he's willing and capable of the responsibility of being
the face of this team. Okay, yes, yes, a thousand times. Yes,
I wanted you would potentially be excited. Let me ask
you this. Okay, I was scrolling TikTok last night and

that has anything to do with the day that Aaron
Rodgers has chosen to meet the Jets. I mean, he's
kind of he's kind of a goofball, so I think
that yes, I'm sure he is staring at the stars
and looking at the signs and the astrological implications of

March seventh, two thousand and three. Would anything surprise me, No,
involving him, So yeah, it would be a full moon
moment now that the Jets. Like again, if you know
recent football history, the Jets have done exactly this. Who
Bret Farv was just as famous, if not more so
than Aaron Rodgers fifteen years ago. And nobody could ever

imagine Brett Farve being on another team after the legacy
he built in Green Bay, and he went to the
Jets and it actually there was some off the field
stuff that was unpleasant and we could leave it there,
but he was actually an excellent quarterback until his arm
got hurt. So people look back at that as, oh,
the Jets, this didn't work last time, why would it
work now? That actually did work until the football god

said no, Jets, you can't have nice things, and I
think this would work too. Like above anything else, rage,
it's the it is such a smart football fit for
this roster. I know, financially it's a little dice because
he's so expensive, but they all they need is somebody
who's proficient at that position, and they could win ten games.
If they have a star at that position, they could

do it. They could do the whole thing, the whole thing,
And don't even think if you are Aaron Rodgers like
he's I feel like I've constantly heard him talking about,
like I still have gas in the tank, I still
have so much love for this game, and I feel
still so competitive, But like you can't ignore the fact
that he's just had issues with the Packers, with the

Jordan Love situation, with the Javante Adams leaving last year,
Like it's just not it's just been a tumultuous few years,
and like, if you are going to come back, this
is probably what he was thinking about in his darkness retreat.
If I'm gonna come back, why don't I do it
Tom Brady's style? Why don't I leave prove everyone? I
don't know why these men that have so many accolades

still feel like they need to prove that they are
someone special, like two time MVP and he's thinking about
coming back, why not go to the Jets and be
like I am the man, and I am rewriting all
of these narratives about me. But Dan, I want to
play a game today, because who knows if Aaron Rodgers
is going to come to the Jets. But you know,
we're real friends outside of this, and I care about you,

and I just you know, when somebody brings home a
new partner and you see all these red flags, you
know you want to make sure that they understand what
they're getting into and how you know they're gonna spin
these red flags to make me feel a little bit
more comfortable. So I'm gonna give you, let's say, Aaron
Rodgers signs of the Jets. Okay, congratulations. I am going

to give you a couple of different scenarios of what
could unfold the next year or two, and you ay
tell me if you're okay with it and be if
you would, if you want to play a little yes,
and I would love for you to spin this for me.
So I'm going to give you something that Aaron Rodgers
has done and you as a Jets plan. Look at
the shirt that you are wearing. Okay, you buy into

your quarterback, You're buying into Aaron Rodgers no matter what
he does. You're gonna spin it for me, and you're
gonna tell me why it is actually good. Okay, okay,

of course, of course. Okay, first things first, Aaron Rodgers
doesn't think the team should drink water because he's heard

it's actually bad for you. Well, I mean, listen, you
don't know, there's an issue that people have with trusting
the government too much. I mean, I think that's been
going on forever. Look what's going on the balloons. They
don't want to tell you everything. And I think this
is another case like you don't know what it's going

through those pipes, and until you know for sure everything
that's in those pipes, let's drink some you know, doctor
pepper or whatever. Aarons we should be drinking. Okay, I
love that. A Plus, Aaron Rodgers is going to go
on a darkness retreat during the bye week. He is
cutting off all communication with absolutely everybody. You are not

going to hear from him for you know, ten days. Yeah,
I mean this is necessary. Absolutely. The Jets are. They're
nine and oz at their bye and now it's become
very clear that the Super Bowl that the team has
been looking for for half a century is within grasp.
What better time during the bye week to clear your

head and prepare for a journey that will make Aaron
and the rest of the Jets immortal. So obviously it's
okay Aaron Rodgers to kick off the season the celebration.
He has started a book club with Jets fans and
the first book on the list because he wants to
open his mind to supernatural he wants the Jets fans

to keep an open mind. The first book on the
list is Twilight. Yeah, I mean, that's that's on the surface,
you know, adope, vampire romance book. But if you actually
read it and really kind of understand the subtext, it's
about loyalty and it's about being ride or die and

coming together for a common cause. And that's obviously what
Aaron wants the rest of the Jets to do on
their way to Super Bowl fifty eight. Okay. And then
finally the last one. He has designated himself the team
DJ before games and the only artist that he will

play is Enya. I thought you were gonna say, Kanye
I was gonna be tough, and yeah, I mean she
is Irish. She is associates from the Emerald Aisle. The
Jets are green Sonny Werblin once upon a time renamed
the Jets from the Titans because of his Irish heritage,

So it only makes sense in terms of a full
circle organizational moment to embrace the greatest songstress to ever
come out of that beautiful land. I am not worried
about this union one bit, Dan hansis now. I want
Aaron Rodgers to go to the Jets more than anything.
Let's put him aside for a second, because we also

got other breaking news today. Lamar Jackson has been franchise
tag by the Ravens non exclusive. He has the ability
to shop for the best deal possible. This is what
Schefter tweeted. Baltimore will have the chance to match any
offer sheet he signs, or opt for two first round
picks instead. What have you? What do you make of

this first off? And is there a world I don't
even know if this could happen, if the Jets even
have what it takes. Could the Jets go for somebody
like Lamar Jackson if Aaron Rodgers doesn't work out, Yeah,
I think so. I mean there's even you could you
could think and about conversations because it takes a while
to get from Jersey to wherever Aaron is in California,

where there are conversations on that plane about like, huh,
that's interesting. Doesn't actually make more sense to go after
the twenty six year old former MVP instead of the
thirty nine year old who might be completely nuts even
though he has four MVPs. No. I think the Jets
are all in on Rodgers at this point obviously, but
now they have part of the thing with a Derek

Carr situation. Although none of it was surprising because the
Saints wanted him bad from the start, and it made
sense for Car to go there. Every Jets fan they got,
you know, the butts, they got a little tighter, put
it that way when that happened, because it felt like
you didn't really have a great clan. B Yeah, the
cheeks clenched with Car gone. Now, if the Jets lost

on Rodgers, if this goes sideways, and it absolutely can,
by the way, there's so many things you still have
to go right for him to end up on the
Jets Rogers. I think the Jets it would make so
much sense to pivot and just go Ham and go
go for Lamar, give him the Shaun Watson contract, give
up the two picks, and I think they might even
do that, honestly, just because this regime with Joe Douglas

and Robert Salve, they need results. They need to make
the playoffs at least, I think, to keep their jobs
in season year three, and beyond that, it would be
such a pr nightmare to come out of this whole
mess with Andy Dalton. There's something like that at quarterback.
I think they're now they're in so deep and so
publicly have put it out there that they need they're
(17:44):
getting a big upgrade veteran that if they don't get
Derek Carr, if they don't get Aaron Rodgers, I think
they will go all in for Lamar Jackson and give
the keys to the Kingdom to him and maybe come
out of it a big winner, even without Rogers. But
I think that it seems like it's gonna be Rogers,
that everything's pointing to that. But yes, that would make sense.

But what's up of the Ravens has go ahead? Well, now,
I was just gonna say, I don't even understand the
Ravens putting the transition tag on him, because they're basically
saying we don't want to give you the money. Go
see if anybody else will give you the money that
we're not going to give you. In what in what
world does it make sense that he would ever go
back to the Ravens where they would match someone else's offer.

At this point, it's basically just getting the two first
round picks is and doesn't seem like there's been some
people irked, like it seems like there's bad blood there
now and like you were saying, sometimes you wanna you
can need a fresh start. It's a full moon, baby,
you got a manifest the next you know, the next
chapter of your life. As we're sitting here, I know
with this is literally just unfolded in the last like

thirty minutes, um is that? Would you as a Jets fan,
would you prefer Lamar Jackson? Do you need do you
need a twenty four hours to process this? Like you
were just saying, he's younger, but he's got you know
it is Lamar Jackson, he's got the weird illnesses that
pop up and the injuries. And but then it's Aaron
Rodgers who's drinking ayahuasca and is older and you know

both of them. Where do you sit with that right now. Yeah,
I think Rogers is my choice as well. I've said
that on ATN It just feels like a better fit,
and not because Nathaniel Hackett's there or anything else. It's
just they. I think bringing in a veteran as decorated
as him, his ability to put the ball anywhere he wants.

Lamar as great as Lamar is, he's a very his style.
You have to kind of build an entire offense around
what he does right Whereas I think the Jets have
pieces already in place and they're going to get the
offensive line better to really plug and play Rogers and
be ready to roll and be a very good offense potentially.
I just think he makes more sense for where this

team is right now. But Jackson would be an incredible
Console Asian Prize if that didn't work out. I just
think Rogers just fits. It makes sense to me. I
could see it. I can't really see Lamar. I would
assume you'd feel better about the parachute plan of Lamar
Jackson than you would about Derek Carr. Yeah, I think
that's an easy one. Yeah, because Lamar so special and

he's shown it. But Car would have been very good
on the Jets. He was a good fit for them too,
and he's a great leader. Yeah who Derek, Yeah, I
don't know, is he? I guess I look at what
that team just went through in the last three years.

little annoyed when, like different teams would like who was it.

I think it was a Joey or Nick Bosa, just
like when after him basically calling him weak and soft,
and I expected the team to really rally to his defense,
and I don't remember it really happening, but you're right.
He was like doing the weird crying stuff in press
conferences that I don't think was necessary and was very

but he was tearing up in a press conference and

somebody went to ask, question, you what, huh, I'm not done?
Like it was like my performance. He just interrupted my monologue. Okay,

I got a deadline. Maybe he's a sensitive fellow for sure.

And then Lindsay Rhodes, formerly of NFL Network and like

a friend of the pod, got David to connect with Derek,
and then David and Lindsay came on the pod and
got us unblocked. So wow, I just want to tell
you that he does show the capacity to change his mind.
He isn't someone that's a stubborn person, and I think
you need that to be a high quality individual before

you go. You know, we didn't have this plan, but
I just remembered. You know, you guys, every single time
I came on atn this year, you were always asking
for bold predictions. Obviously, in the last like hour, the
NFL world has re exploded. Is there something that you think,
There's something that you're craving that you really want to
happen this offseason that all of us are going to
be like and don't say Tom Brady done retire. To

give me something, Give me a bold prediction for something
I really want to happen. Uh, take your time, we'll
edit it. You know what I think. I think the Lions,
excuse me, I think the Rams should just embrace the

suck and tear it all down. And that means trading
Matthew Stafford to one of these quarterback needy teams. Hell,
it could be the Jets if things don't work out
with this current situation, and that means maybe even trading
Aaron Donald to a place he would like to play.
They're already going to trade Jalen Ramsey. They've already cut

Bobby Wagner. Let's not no half measures here in this
kind of don't reload, just rip it down, send all
these funds our players elsewhere and make the rest of
the league more exciting while Sean McVeigh figures out how
to build that thing from the ground up with a
bunch of draft picks. I would like that. How about
that new new quarterbacks in Baker Mayfield? What do you think?

I know you like Baker more than I do, but
I don't. I think Baker is fun for a kind
of a memorable buzzy moment once or twice a year.
But I don't know. But maybe if you were embracing

up right now. And I am keeping tabs on all

Dan does not seem to does not seem too invested

in the future of Baker Mayfield in the NFL, but
there are some rumors that he could be a staying
with the Rams or b This one I find very interesting.
Heading to the forty niners, Albert Brier, who is a
writer on Sports Illustrated, mentioned some some good points. Okay,
Purty's UCL surgery is reported to take anywhere from six

months to a year to come back from, depending on
the type of procedure he undergoes, and he says, second thought,
the forty nine ers don't believe Trey Lance can stay
healthy or be a quarterback they can win with right now.
And then he also mentioned Baker Mayfield great at starting
in random places. I mean, he was put in under
the utmost pressure for that Rams Thursday night football game.

I mean you could say the Rams were already bad
and there was no pressure at all, but there was
a lot of pressure. There's a lot of pressure for
Baker himself because he's like, Okay, I just left the Browns.
I went to the Panthers that didn't work out. I'm
coming to the Rams. I gotta show that I can
still do this. Because people love to hate Baker Mayfield.
They were they would have been so quick to write
him off. If he had an absolutely terrible game, he
(26:32):
might not have started an NFL game again, you know,
in certain circumstances. So I love this. I think it's
a perfect match, and I want success for Baker Mayfield.
And I feel like that team has so many weapons
and stars on it that somebody like Black Purty could
come in and succeed. Somebody like Jimmy Garoppolo, who a
lot of people didn't believe in, could come in and succeed.

So even if it's Baker, you know, having success because
he's shielded by all of these very successful plays. I
am buying all the way the hell in. Okay, I
want this to happen. I would absolutely love to see it.
When this brings me to the worst thing that I
saw a week, lots of stuff going on. I don't
if you live in California, if you live in Los Angeles,

you know that it has just been non stop raining,
and just when you thought that we were out of
the woods, it rains again. I am in my garage. Okay,
this is where my new little office is set up.
Everything was flooded. There was water on the floor. My
house doesn't even have gutters. My house doesn't have a gutter.

My garage doesn't have a gutter because it doesn't rain
in Los Angeles, California, and Los Angeles is not equipped
for wetness, water, snow, even a strong breeze. Okay, I'm
worried that this baby's coming down on top of me.
There's no gutters. All the water came in here. My
Christmas tree but I'm hiding behind me, is ruined. I

just got it this year to get We're getting a
bad Christmas right, everything is a mess. And now I
Rachel Vanetta, one who has already built a deck, built
a hotel, builds Hosana. I'm gonna have to put gutters
on my house. Do I know how to do that? No,
I'm I gonna figure it out. Yes, it does seem
relatively easy, but I'm not happy about it. And that
is the worst thing that I saw a week And
just when I cleaned up the mess, it rains again.

number one, number two Lamar Jack's and was just franchise
tag by the Ravens. It absolute chaos. Fans are freaking
out everywhere. What is going on in the world of NFL.
We have my good buddy and literally Monday morning, I

woke up and I said, I need to talk to
Dan Hans is okay, we need to get Jets fans
temp this week. So without further ado, Dan take it away.

well online for I don't know, probably about thirty five
to thirty eight dollars with the shipping, and it was

Jets fans a year ago, this time, you were trying
to kind of create Zach Wilson as something that is

going to work, manifest Zach Wilson as a successful NFL quarterback,
which clearly he was not this past season, and it's
put the Jets in some unprecedented territory. It is pretty crazy. Rachel.
We're speaking right now, you know, shortly afternoon Pacific time
on March seventh. This is kind of one of the

you know, flashpoint moments potentially in the history of the Jets.
Were in the waiting period right now, and there are
enormous organizational and fan implications over what could happen even
in the next hour. So good timing on the book.
I gotta tell you. I woke up Monday morning, texted
my producers right away and I was like, what if
we had And this was just after finding out that

Derek Carr had signed to the Saints. I was just like, Dan,
I need Dan on the podcast because I saw you know,
you guys chatting. You know, Derek's a nice like backup
plan if we don't get Aaron Rodgers. Now that safety
net is gone. I was like, we gotta get zoos
around the pod. And then the things that have unfolded
within the last thirty minutes even okay, so let's just
(05:38):
update the peeps. Diana Rassini just tweeted the New York
Jets have flown on a private plane to California to
meet with Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers got permission to chit
chat with the Jets. I mean, what are you feeling
as a fan wearing a Zach Wilson his Goose shirt?
What do you what are you thinking? Like? The Jets
(05:59):
are going to Aaron Rodgers, they want this to happen.
Is this something that could potentially come to be within
I don't know, the next twenty four or forty eight,
I don't know. Oh, absolutely it has the potential. At
this point, getting on the plane means they are on
the ten yard line potentially here. You know, here's the
thing you know in life, when when you're maybe in
(06:24):
a bit of a rough patch and things aren't going
your way and you feel like you got to mix
things up and say yes to some things that you
would typically say no to, whether it's a job or
you know, a significant other, or you know, going on
a vacation or doing this or doing that, and usually
you'd be like, no, that's not me. But sometimes you're like, man,

I gotta do something to change my life, so I
will say yes. And that's how I feel about Aaron Rodgers.
That there's so much as a Jets fan that concerns
me about Rogers at this stage of his career and
quite frankly, his life that makes me wonder how this
would work. And I actually worry less about his statistical

drop off last year because he was obviously so good
winning VP the two years before that, and he was
injured and didn't have a great yeah right, they didn't
have a great supporting cast around him in terms of playmakers,
So that concerns me. Last what concerns me more is
if he comes to the Jets and this is a
(07:34):
city and a region starving for the Jets to be
relevant and be a champion after fifty three straight years
of nothing like there is, it's going to be a
circus that's kind of potentially on par with Tebow for
people that were following football ten or eleven years ago,
and it will just be madness. And is Rogers at
(07:55):
a place in his life where he could process that,
tune out the distractions and focus on giving the Jets
a Super Bowl trophy? Again, I don't know. I don't
know if that's where his headspace is at. And I
think that's part of this fact finding mission that the
Jets are taking part in right now, flying to California,
face to face conversation and see where this guy is at,

if he's willing and capable of the responsibility of being
the face of this team. Okay, yes, yes, a thousand times. Yes,
I wanted you would potentially be excited. Let me ask
you this. Okay, I was scrolling TikTok last night and
I don't know how this ended up on my for
you page. You're such a zoomer. I'm not a witchy woman, Okay,

but there was a video that popped up and that said,
if you're watching this video before Tuesday, March seventh, you
are so lucky because tomorrow, on March seventh, on Tuesday,
which is when we're recording this podcast right now, it
is a full moon, and it is like the end
of the last two and a half years is out
the door, and you're manifesting what's in front of you

in abundance, and da da da. Do you think that
that has anything to do with the day that Aaron
Rodgers has chosen to meet the Jets. I mean, he's
kind of he's kind of a goofball, so I think
that yes, I'm sure he is staring at the stars
and looking at the signs and the astrological implications of

March seventh, two thousand and three. Would anything surprise me, No,
involving him, So yeah, it would be a full moon
moment now that the Jets. Like again, if you know
recent football history, the Jets have done exactly this. Who
Bret Farv was just as famous, if not more so
than Aaron Rodgers fifteen years ago. And nobody could ever
(09:45):
imagine Brett Farve being on another team after the legacy
he built in Green Bay, and he went to the
Jets and it actually there was some off the field
stuff that was unpleasant and we could leave it there,
but he was actually an excellent quarterback until his arm
got hurt. So people look back at that as, oh,
the Jets, this didn't work last time, why would it
work now? That actually did work until the football god
(10:07):
said no, Jets, you can't have nice things, and I
think this would work too. Like above anything else, rage,
it's the it is such a smart football fit for
this roster. I know, financially it's a little dice because
he's so expensive, but they all they need is somebody
who's proficient at that position, and they could win ten games.
If they have a star at that position, they could

do it. They could do the whole thing, the whole thing,
And don't even think if you are Aaron Rodgers like
he's I feel like I've constantly heard him talking about,
like I still have gas in the tank, I still
have so much love for this game, and I feel
still so competitive, But like you can't ignore the fact
that he's just had issues with the Packers, with the
(10:51):
Jordan Love situation, with the Javante Adams leaving last year,
Like it's just not it's just been a tumultuous few years,
and like, if you are going to come back, this
is probably what he was thinking about in his darkness retreat.
If I'm gonna come back, why don't I do it
Tom Brady's style? Why don't I leave prove everyone? I
don't know why these men that have so many accolades

still feel like they need to prove that they are
someone special, like two time MVP and he's thinking about
coming back, why not go to the Jets and be
like I am the man, and I am rewriting all
of these narratives about me. But Dan, I want to
play a game today, because who knows if Aaron Rodgers
is going to come to the Jets. But you know,
we're real friends outside of this, and I care about you,

and I just you know, when somebody brings home a
new partner and you see all these red flags, you
know you want to make sure that they understand what
they're getting into and how you know they're gonna spin
these red flags to make me feel a little bit
more comfortable. So I'm gonna give you, let's say, Aaron
Rodgers signs of the Jets. Okay, congratulations. I am going

to give you a couple of different scenarios of what
could unfold the next year or two, and you ay
tell me if you're okay with it and be if
you would, if you want to play a little yes,
and I would love for you to spin this for me.
So I'm going to give you something that Aaron Rodgers
has done and you as a Jets plan. Look at
the shirt that you are wearing. Okay, you buy into

your quarterback, You're buying into Aaron Rodgers no matter what
he does. You're gonna spin it for me, and you're
gonna tell me why it is actually good. Okay, okay,
spin spin zone. Okay. By the way, hashtag real friends.
That that means a lot to me, Rachel, thank you,
of course, of course. Okay, first things first, Aaron Rodgers
doesn't think the team should drink water because he's heard

it's actually bad for you. Well, I mean, listen, you
don't know, there's an issue that people have with trusting
the government too much. I mean, I think that's been
going on forever. Look what's going on the balloons. They
don't want to tell you everything. And I think this
is another case like you don't know what it's going
(12:59):
through those pipes, and until you know for sure everything
that's in those pipes, let's drink some you know, doctor
pepper or whatever. Aarons we should be drinking. Okay, I
love that. A Plus, Aaron Rodgers is going to go
on a darkness retreat during the bye week. He is
cutting off all communication with absolutely everybody. You are not
(13:20):
going to hear from him for you know, ten days. Yeah,
I mean this is necessary. Absolutely. The Jets are. They're
nine and oz at their bye and now it's become
very clear that the Super Bowl that the team has
been looking for for half a century is within grasp.
What better time during the bye week to clear your

head and prepare for a journey that will make Aaron
and the rest of the Jets immortal. So obviously it's
okay Aaron Rodgers to kick off the season the celebration.
He has started a book club with Jets fans and
the first book on the list because he wants to
open his mind to supernatural he wants the Jets fans

to keep an open mind. The first book on the
list is Twilight. Yeah, I mean, that's that's on the surface,
you know, adope, vampire romance book. But if you actually
read it and really kind of understand the subtext, it's
about loyalty and it's about being ride or die and
(14:27):
coming together for a common cause. And that's obviously what
Aaron wants the rest of the Jets to do on
their way to Super Bowl fifty eight. Okay. And then
finally the last one. He has designated himself the team
DJ before games and the only artist that he will
(14:48):
play is Enya. I thought you were gonna say, Kanye
I was gonna be tough, and yeah, I mean she
is Irish. She is associates from the Emerald Aisle. The
Jets are green Sonny Werblin once upon a time renamed
the Jets from the Titans because of his Irish heritage,

So it only makes sense in terms of a full
circle organizational moment to embrace the greatest songstress to ever
come out of that beautiful land. I am not worried
about this union one bit, Dan hansis now. I want
Aaron Rodgers to go to the Jets more than anything.
Let's put him aside for a second, because we also

got other breaking news today. Lamar Jackson has been franchise
tag by the Ravens non exclusive. He has the ability
to shop for the best deal possible. This is what
Schefter tweeted. Baltimore will have the chance to match any
offer sheet he signs, or opt for two first round
picks instead. What have you? What do you make of
(15:53):
this first off? And is there a world I don't
even know if this could happen, if the Jets even
have what it takes. Could the Jets go for somebody
like Lamar Jackson if Aaron Rodgers doesn't work out, Yeah,
I think so. I mean there's even you could you
could think and about conversations because it takes a while
to get from Jersey to wherever Aaron is in California,
(16:14):
where there are conversations on that plane about like, huh,
that's interesting. Doesn't actually make more sense to go after
the twenty six year old former MVP instead of the
thirty nine year old who might be completely nuts even
though he has four MVPs. No. I think the Jets
are all in on Rodgers at this point obviously, but
now they have part of the thing with a Derek
(16:35):
Carr situation. Although none of it was surprising because the
Saints wanted him bad from the start, and it made
sense for Car to go there. Every Jets fan they got,
you know, the butts, they got a little tighter, put
it that way when that happened, because it felt like
you didn't really have a great clan. B Yeah, the
cheeks clenched with Car gone. Now, if the Jets lost
(17:00):
on Rodgers, if this goes sideways, and it absolutely can,
by the way, there's so many things you still have
to go right for him to end up on the
Jets Rogers. I think the Jets it would make so
much sense to pivot and just go Ham and go
go for Lamar, give him the Shaun Watson contract, give
up the two picks, and I think they might even
do that, honestly, just because this regime with Joe Douglas
(17:24):
and Robert Salve, they need results. They need to make
the playoffs at least, I think, to keep their jobs
in season year three, and beyond that, it would be
such a pr nightmare to come out of this whole
mess with Andy Dalton. There's something like that at quarterback.
I think they're now they're in so deep and so
publicly have put it out there that they need they're
(17:44):
getting a big upgrade veteran that if they don't get
Derek Carr, if they don't get Aaron Rodgers, I think
they will go all in for Lamar Jackson and give
the keys to the Kingdom to him and maybe come
out of it a big winner, even without Rogers. But
I think that it seems like it's gonna be Rogers,
that everything's pointing to that. But yes, that would make sense.
(18:05):
But what's up of the Ravens has go ahead? Well, now,
I was just gonna say, I don't even understand the
Ravens putting the transition tag on him, because they're basically
saying we don't want to give you the money. Go
see if anybody else will give you the money that
we're not going to give you. In what in what
world does it make sense that he would ever go
back to the Ravens where they would match someone else's offer.
(18:27):
At this point, it's basically just getting the two first
round picks is and doesn't seem like there's been some
people irked, like it seems like there's bad blood there
now and like you were saying, sometimes you wanna you
can need a fresh start. It's a full moon, baby,
you got a manifest the next you know, the next
chapter of your life. As we're sitting here, I know
with this is literally just unfolded in the last like
(18:48):
thirty minutes, um is that? Would you as a Jets fan,
would you prefer Lamar Jackson? Do you need do you
need a twenty four hours to process this? Like you
were just saying, he's younger, but he's got you know
it is Lamar Jackson, he's got the weird illnesses that
pop up and the injuries. And but then it's Aaron
Rodgers who's drinking ayahuasca and is older and you know
(19:12):
both of them. Where do you sit with that right now. Yeah,
I think Rogers is my choice as well. I've said
that on ATN It just feels like a better fit,
and not because Nathaniel Hackett's there or anything else. It's
just they. I think bringing in a veteran as decorated
as him, his ability to put the ball anywhere he wants.

Lamar as great as Lamar is, he's a very his style.
You have to kind of build an entire offense around
what he does right Whereas I think the Jets have
pieces already in place and they're going to get the
offensive line better to really plug and play Rogers and
be ready to roll and be a very good offense potentially.
I just think he makes more sense for where this
(19:54):
team is right now. But Jackson would be an incredible
Console Asian Prize if that didn't work out. I just
think Rogers just fits. It makes sense to me. I
could see it. I can't really see Lamar. I would
assume you'd feel better about the parachute plan of Lamar
Jackson than you would about Derek Carr. Yeah, I think
that's an easy one. Yeah, because Lamar so special and
(20:17):
he's shown it. But Car would have been very good
on the Jets. He was a good fit for them too,
and he's a great leader. Yeah who Derek, Yeah, I
don't know, is he? I guess I look at what
that team just went through in the last three years.
That's fair. That's fair. That's fair. I always got a
little annoyed when, like different teams would like who was it.
(20:38):
I think it was a Joey or Nick Bosa, just
like when after him basically calling him weak and soft,
and I expected the team to really rally to his defense,
and I don't remember it really happening, but you're right.
He was like doing the weird crying stuff in press
conferences that I don't think was necessary and was very
like Oscar Like I don't even know if you remember this,
but he was tearing up in a press conference and
(20:59):
somebody went to ask, question, you what, huh, I'm not done?
Like it was like my performance. He just interrupted my monologue. Okay,
this is my self tape that I'm sending in and
I got a deadline. Maybe he's a sensitive fellow for sure.
He blocked me and Greg on Twitter I love years ago.
And then Lindsay Rhodes, formerly of NFL Network and like

a friend of the pod, got David to connect with Derek,
and then David and Lindsay came on the pod and
got us unblocked. So wow, I just want to tell
you that he does show the capacity to change his mind.
He isn't someone that's a stubborn person, and I think
you need that to be a high quality individual before

you go. You know, we didn't have this plan, but
I just remembered. You know, you guys, every single time
I came on atn this year, you were always asking
for bold predictions. Obviously, in the last like hour, the
NFL world has re exploded. Is there something that you think,
There's something that you're craving that you really want to
happen this offseason that all of us are going to
be like and don't say Tom Brady done retire. To

give me something, Give me a bold prediction for something
I really want to happen. Uh, take your time, we'll
edit it. You know what I think. I think the Lions,
excuse me, I think the Rams should just embrace the
(22:30):
suck and tear it all down. And that means trading
Matthew Stafford to one of these quarterback needy teams. Hell,
it could be the Jets if things don't work out
with this current situation, and that means maybe even trading
Aaron Donald to a place he would like to play.
They're already going to trade Jalen Ramsey. They've already cut

Bobby Wagner. Let's not no half measures here in this
kind of don't reload, just rip it down, send all
these funds our players elsewhere and make the rest of
the league more exciting while Sean McVeigh figures out how
to build that thing from the ground up with a
bunch of draft picks. I would like that. How about
that new new quarterbacks in Baker Mayfield? What do you think?

I know you like Baker more than I do, but
I don't. I think Baker is fun for a kind
of a memorable buzzy moment once or twice a year.
But I don't know. But maybe if you were embracing

Dan does not seem to does not seem too invested

in the future of Baker Mayfield in the NFL, but
there are some rumors that he could be a staying
with the Rams or b This one I find very interesting.
Heading to the forty niners, Albert Brier, who is a
writer on Sports Illustrated, mentioned some some good points. Okay,
Purty's UCL surgery is reported to take anywhere from six
(25:50):
months to a year to come back from, depending on
the type of procedure he undergoes, and he says, second thought,
the forty nine ers don't believe Trey Lance can stay
healthy or be a quarterback they can win with right now.
And then he also mentioned Baker Mayfield great at starting
in random places. I mean, he was put in under
the utmost pressure for that Rams Thursday night football game.
(26:12):
I mean you could say the Rams were already bad
and there was no pressure at all, but there was
a lot of pressure. There's a lot of pressure for
Baker himself because he's like, Okay, I just left the Browns.
I went to the Panthers that didn't work out. I'm
coming to the Rams. I gotta show that I can
still do this. Because people love to hate Baker Mayfield.
They were they would have been so quick to write
him off. If he had an absolutely terrible game, he
(26:32):
might not have started an NFL game again, you know,
in certain circumstances. So I love this. I think it's
a perfect match, and I want success for Baker Mayfield.
And I feel like that team has so many weapons
and stars on it that somebody like Black Purty could
come in and succeed. Somebody like Jimmy Garoppolo, who a
lot of people didn't believe in, could come in and succeed.
(26:53):
So even if it's Baker, you know, having success because
he's shielded by all of these very successful plays. I
am buying all the way the hell in. Okay, I
want this to happen. I would absolutely love to see it.
When this brings me to the worst thing that I
saw a week, lots of stuff going on. I don't
if you live in California, if you live in Los Angeles,

you know that it has just been non stop raining,
and just when you thought that we were out of
the woods, it rains again. I am in my garage. Okay,
this is where my new little office is set up.
Everything was flooded. There was water on the floor. My
house doesn't even have gutters. My house doesn't have a gutter.

My garage doesn't have a gutter because it doesn't rain
in Los Angeles, California, and Los Angeles is not equipped
for wetness, water, snow, even a strong breeze. Okay, I'm
worried that this baby's coming down on top of me.
There's no gutters. All the water came in here. My
Christmas tree but I'm hiding behind me, is ruined. I

just got it this year to get We're getting a
bad Christmas right, everything is a mess. And now I
Rachel Vanetta, one who has already built a deck, built
a hotel, builds Hosana. I'm gonna have to put gutters
on my house. Do I know how to do that? No,
I'm I gonna figure it out. Yes, it does seem
relatively easy, but I'm not happy about it. And that
is the worst thing that I saw a week And
just when I cleaned up the mess, it rains again.
