Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, this is not More and you're listening to the
Dolphin UK podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Jeep Steady.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Well, hello, welcome to the Dolphin UK podcast. Coming up
on the show this week, we'll do a quick assessment
of the season to date as we come out of
the bye, we'll look forward to the week seven matchup
against the Colts and we'll have the usual Pickam League

(00:51):
update and trivia. Talking of byes, it's time for players
to have some time off, perhaps take a trip away.
We saw Tyreek and his wife in London and Paris.
Someone else who took a trip during the bie is
Lee who is back and here as always?

Speaker 4 (01:06):
How are you doing, sir? Very well? Thank you, I'd
say glad to be back. I'm glad to be back
and have a game of football to watch this weekend.
But yes, I did enjoy a lovely cruise for the
last six days.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
So yeah, I thought you think? He said to me
that had it not been for a Dolphins game coming
up this week, and you'd have been quite happy to
stay on the cruise.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
Yeah, if it had been an option. Well, to be honest,
the internet was so good on board I was actually
able to stream some games on Sunday night. So had
it been an option to stan on board, I might
still have done that. It was a really nice six days,
even though it was six days at sea, which is
not necessarily everyone's cup of tea, but so it's a

(01:52):
bit of an adventure. I flew into Athens and boarded
a ship and basically didn't really see land for six
days until we arrived in teneryf yesterday. Mornings.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Awesome, welcome back. Let's talk some football, shall we.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
Let's do it.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Right, I thought, well, we do Lee, first part of
the show. We've had a buyer, as I said earlier,
but let's take a bit of a sense check, shall we,
and see where we think the Dolphins are coming out
of the buyers we head into week seven, What are
your thoughts, Lee, We've had a week to kind of
just take stock and assess where the season is today

(02:30):
after having played five games. What are your thoughts, Lee,
in terms of where the Dolphins sit right now?

Speaker 4 (02:36):
I think it's really interesting because although we're not where
we would like to be, obviously, there's multiple reasons for that.
I don't think there's any on this show, for sure,
there's not any panic about where we are heading right now.
We need a few more things to play out, I
think before we get into any sort of any sort
of panic mode. But I would say as far as

(02:59):
having a week, this might have been as successful by
week as you could possibly hope for with the way
the division played out over the weekend, as well as
getting hopefully some good news back on players return into
practice posted Buyer, and then some good news for the
health going forwards.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Yeah, it's a good opportunity for plays to get healthy,
isn't it if one or two have got niggles. But
I look at it as also an opportunity for the
likes of Tyler Huntley. I know they have some time off,
but they have another week to kind of learn a
bit more about the playbook, don't they. After celebrating a
win against the Patriots in New England, which was a
successful performance in the whole scheme of things, you got

(03:43):
to look for Tyler Huntley to make a little bit
more progress and get a little bit more settled into
the offense now as well, don't you.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Oh? Absolutely? And I think I think we mentioned it
last week that there's a lot to be learned when
the tape is not great and after the first performance
there was some ups, there was some down. It used
a lot to learn from. But having a performance where
you come off with a win, there's a few more
good things in there that you can take and then

(04:10):
extrapolate from that, hopefully build upon. As opposed to saying
I don't want to perhaps make this mistake again, or
we don't want to do it this way again, you
can actually say, oh, this was great and we can
build from here. So hopefully it's an exciting opportunity for
him to grow in the offense, like you said, and
hopefully propel us to a win Sunday.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Yeah, you can look at the bye week as a
pivotal moment, especially with other results going our way. I
know the Bills won, but the Checks and the Patriots
are now behind us in the division. But another pivotal
moment that perhaps could be more significant than a bye week,
and maybe a lot of folks are focusing on this

(04:48):
is the potential return of Tour. And obviously we know
he's not going to play this week in Indie, but
there is a possibility, and we're too early to tell
yet that he might return the following week. Arizona and
I talk about pivotal moments, and it's quite a timely
return if he does return for that Arizona game, because

(05:09):
everybody's now looking forward to him to provide that spark
and that inspiration to get the team back on track
for the rest of the season, aren't they.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
Absolutely, And like you say, it's too early to say
that he will be playing in that game, but it
definitely felt like positive news that came from McDaniel at
the start of this week in regards to his wanting
to play and that being his goal going forward. So
I think that's definitely a cause for everyone to get

(05:38):
a little bit excited, because, let's be honest, two last
year was one of the most exciting players to watch
in the entire NFL. So that's the kind of player
that you're excited to get back. He saw some of
the other moves that happened this week within the division,
with teams panicking basically I think based on their performances

(06:00):
the last few weeks and bringing in wide receiver help. Well,
we know that we're getting one of the best passes
in the NFL back, hopefully at some point soon. And
I mean no, that changes the game for any team.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Yeah, I just want to continue to talk of pivotal
momentsly because it feels like this game coming up is
also a pivotal moment in that the Dolphins are two
and three, but they have a bit of form having
beaten the Patriots. Their morale has been boosted. They won
with a really good running game, so that could be

(06:33):
the difference heading into any potential to a return that
three and three if they can manage to get out
of win. Conversely, if they don't and they lose to
the Indianapolis Colts, they're going to be sat at two
or four, potentially two or three games behind the Bills
and a tiebreaker in their favor as well. So their

(06:54):
backs are going to be up against it if they
don't manage to win against the Colts, but seem to
be very much back in the race if they do
beat the Colts. So again, another pivotal moment.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
I think absolutely. This is another one of those moments
that we spoke about so many times last year where
your destiny is kind of in your own hands. You know,
if you if you can take this game by the
scrusher and they can find a way to win like
you did against New England, it doesn't have to be pretty.
You just have to get get a win and get
another one in the in the win column, and all

(07:25):
of a sudden, you know, things can start to look
very different, very quickly. And like you say, you know,
it keeps us in contention within the division, which is
obviously always the goal at the start the season. And
I'd say, with all the all the trying times that
you've had in the last few weeks, if you come
out of this three and three with the potential of

(07:46):
getting your starting quarterback back among other players set to
return as well, you'd have to do well to contain
your excitement for that. I think I think I would be,
you know, really looking forward to that back end of
the season with hopefully fingers cross some health that there's
a real opportunity. We know the schedule gets really hard

(08:09):
in the later part of the year, but we also
know some of those teams are not performing the way
that people have predicted in the preseason. And you know,
we said plenty of times, you know, that's why you
can't run away with the schedule and say, hey, these
are wins and these are losses, because you just don't
know what teams are going to look like by the
time you face them, you know, hopefully, like you say,

(08:31):
we get a little bit healthier, get some players back,
and then all of a sudden, you know, there's a
good chance to make a run here throughout the rest
of the season and build momentum without having that by
as a momentum stopper. And I think we've seen that
in the past, Like the buy can be really interesting

(08:52):
kind of you said, it's a pivotal moment, and it
really can be in regards to it can help be
the catalyst to start a change, or it can also
be a real stopper for a team that has momentum.
So hopefully, you know, I mean we're not in the team.
I know we're coming up with a win, but I
wouldn't say we're a team with huge momentum right now.

(09:14):
So you hope that's not the fact, and it can
be the catalyst for a terrific back end of the season.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Just looking back slightly on the first five six weeks
of the season, you mentioned teams that haven't performed as
well as they were expected to do so before the
season started, and you can clearly put the Dolphins in
that category. Why do you think they've had those struggles
to date. Are we putting too much stock on relying

(09:43):
on tour to lead the team? Where is one of
the reasons why we seem to have struggled to date?
Do you think because it's totally unexpected? Isn't it given
the performance of the offense in particular last season? And
let's be faced, let's face it, we are talking about
the offense because the defense have played really to be well,
it's pretty much the same personnel given one or two changes.

(10:04):
But so, why do you think that the team have
struggled lead? Is we haven't really done any sort of
deep dive into this yet because we've focused on the
outcomes each of every game each week. But where do
you think we sit now in terms of the issues
that the team have had offensively?

Speaker 4 (10:23):
I think you're right. You know, it'd be easy to
just sit and say that it's all kind of based
on having lost starting quarterback, and you know, people will say, oh, well,
backups are able to win in the NFL. I think
too is one of the hardest quarterbacks in the NFL
to back up because I think his style of play
is so hard to match. There's not many players that
play with the anticipation plus the quick release the way

(10:45):
he does, and you see, I think we've seen every
week opportunities where two if two, it was there. You know,
he can make those stories where some of the other
guys who struggled because their game is slightly different. That's
not an insult, it's just they they don't play the
same style of football. I think I think, you know,

(11:08):
to open the New England game and even throw from
the Tennessee game, we saw a few throws from from
Tyler Hunty where he looked a little bit more to aresque,
where like he was able to hit that back foot
and just let it ring and that felt more like
a tour style throw. And guess what, they were successful
plays because that's what works in this offense. But I
think it's really difficult, and you know, I think there's

(11:33):
a as a willingness for people to want to try
and downplay the importance of losing a quarterback. But I
think in this instance there's no no way to I
also think, you know, missing Raheem Moster for three of
those games was I think it's three games, right, Yeah,

(11:55):
I think three games train a.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
Bit because he started against the Jags.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
He did start openly yet. But do you know what
I mean? I think, you know, I don't think that
can be taken into caount because that you know, if
you put a backup quarterback in you want to lean
on the run game. Now. Raheemos was one of the
one of the best running backs in the NFL last
season and then you lose him as well, And that's fine.
We're all very excited about watching Devon a Chan, Jalen
Wright and Wilson as well, but Wilson got banged up.

(12:28):
You know a Chan has been banged up as well.
Jayden Wright's a rookie like that. Again, the drop off
from a guy who was one of the best in
the NFL last year to the backups at the same
time as playing with a backup quarterback doesn't allow you
to just lean on the run game. And I think
when the when you saw things turn a little bit
last week against New England, it is when they were

(12:48):
able to get consistent plays of positive yards without the penalties.
And raheem Oster is excellent that he absolutely excels there's
two yards, He's going to get you two yards. He's
not always looking to break the big run. If it's
there he's going to but he's not always looking to
break that big play and then lose yards on the

(13:10):
plane doing so. And I think that keeping the team
on track is something that with a backup quarterback you
want to be able to to to rely on. And
I don't think you know, him being back and us
winning against New England is necessarily I don't think there's
there's no correlation there. I think they're definitely there. Definitely

(13:31):
is And I wouldn't have been surprised if you were
able to pull out a win against a Tennessee because
that game was close throughout. Like you said, the defense
has played I think some really good football so far,
and if we can get to three and three, I
think the offense would be able to pack the defense
on the back and say thanks guys, now our time,

(13:52):
our times to try and take it from here and
get some wins as well, give them, you know, try
and run up the score a little bit where you
know you're strolling an offense rather than just trying to
keep in games and kind of play that more scrappy football.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
Do you think there's a conversation to be had that
teams have caught up on knowing how to address or
how to tackle a Mike McDaniel offense, because last season
they were pretty much unstoppable until the end of the season,
that kind of when teams had got a lot of
tape to review and gain plan which they wouldn't have
had early in the season necessarily, And that trend seems

(14:30):
to have continued a little bit into this season. Do
you think teams have now caught and on and found
a way to defend that offense? And that would mean
it's a test of coach Mike's coaching acumen if you
like that it's now forcing him to develop and step
up another another level as a head coach and an
offensive play caller. Do you think there's a conversation to

(14:52):
be had there.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
I think there's probably a little bit of it, But
I think we're looking at such a small sample size
when it comes to this season that it would be
hard to say if they've caught up because you've seen
six quarters of play now, granted, where they the best
six quarters of play we've seen under Mike McDaniel. Absolutely
Not one was Week one. I think you know you

(15:18):
could give some reasons as to why that may be
the case. Heading into Week one. I don't think football
across the NFL is necessarily at its highest point in
Week one. Obviously, the Week two performance was not going
the way that you wanted to go before the before
twour got hurt. But I think we need to see
some games of this offense as close to full strength

(15:40):
as it can be before we start to probably have
that conversation. But yeah, I mean it's always going to linger, there,
isn't it. Because you go from being the high scoring
offense in the NFL to struggling on our offense, those
questions are obviously going to come. And unfortunately, when you're
the headman and it's your playbook and your calling play is,

(16:01):
the questions only fall at one person's feet, so there's
no one that can help you or protect you, you know,
So it's not surprised that sometimes those media those questions
come from the media or like you say that that
you know, fans want to bring it up and have
that conversation. I think for me, I'd be pumping the
brakes and saying, let's see four or five weeks of

(16:24):
you know, a healthy ish offense and that you know,
obviously harps back to probably having two under center.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
The outcome of this game against the Colts for me,
would determine whether the Dolphins perhaps get a C grade
for the start of the season as opposed to an
F when they're either at three and three or two
and four. That is the importance for me for this game.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
I think, Okay, I mean it makes sense. I think
the one thing I think that you know, there definitely
would be a conversation about and saying that is the
is the discipline and the penalties that didn't take, because
that's a controllable factor, isn't it. It's one of those
things that a presnet penalty is absolutely in your hands.
That is, there's very little excuse that can be given

(17:12):
where it's going to make it acceptable to take some
of those penalties. And if you just kept yourself on track,
we've seen that you can grind out wins. Tennessee was
a winnable game. Who else would play Seattle? And again
that game was close in the third quarter. You know,
you could argue a couple of drives where you put

(17:32):
field goals on the board. All of a sudden you
actually ask some questions of Seattle rather than kind of
letting them play on their own tempo. But yeah, I
can understand that. I think we should be very happy
as fans. So if we come out of this with
a four game stretch without without your starting quarterback, and

(17:54):
not only a start quarterback, but one of the best
stanting quarterbacks in the NFL, and you come out of
it with two and too, I think that would be
a you know, maybe as much as you could ask
for in that situation.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
Okay, before we reach halfway point of the show, any
further thoughts on the review of the season so far.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
Yeah, I think maybe just a couple of minutes here
just talking about the defense. I think the defense have
been exceptional. Again, there's just say some injuries, we've seen
some moving parts, but they found ways to make plays
and keep this team in games. You know, we may
have been frustrated with the loss, you know, a couple
of the losses, but we were frustrated with them because

(18:35):
they had chances in those games and that was thanks
to the defense and the way they've played. And I
think coach Weaver deserves a lot praise for the way
the guys have started out the season. We know it's
not easy learning a new system, a lot of new
players on the defensive side of the ball as well,
as well as obviously dealing with some injuries there, but
again players to return on defense, So hopefully this defense

(18:58):
continues to grow and continues to rank highly in a
lot of categories as they do right now statistically.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
I know, obviously we lost Jalien Phillips, which was a
blow to that defense, but that's kind of going to
be offset, isn't it by the eventual return of Bradley
Chubb whenever that may be, And we still still don't
have any news on that. So, like you say, there
are plays to return from injury, and Bradley Chubb now
will be returning in a position of need.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
Absolutely. It just goes to show again the importance of
drafting a Chop Robinson as well. He's going to have
the opportunity to grow and get more playing time than
possibly you might you know, we may have predicted at
the start the season, but he's played some good games.
I think all those active snaps as a rookie help

(19:47):
build you going forward. Still be some mistakes, there'll be
some things that you are not perfect, but then he's
going to get some players back to help him as
well and help him grow. So it's a very interesting opportunity.
Do you like you say you also got a player
the caliber of Bradley Chubb returning to the defense. Yeah,

(20:09):
and also a little bit of love for Clais Campbell,
who I think it's been playing exceptional, as well as
Zach Seler. But those guys up front have been doing
have been really good. And you know, it's easy to say, oh,
but Clais Campbell's really old, but he's getting up there
in years, but his performance does not look like it.
It is really something to watch.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
I saw a score prediction for the Colts game, which
will come onto that our game preview shortly, but one
of a national reporter predicted a win for the Colts
and highlighted the struggles the Dolphins have had in stopping
the run. And we don't see it like that, do
we at all?

Speaker 4 (20:51):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
I don't get the sense that the Dolphins have struggled
to stop the run because the defense have played at
a relatively high level. So it's amazing to see the
difference between national perception of the of a defense that's
playing really well compared to couple of people who watched
the team.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
We can weak out.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
I just thought that was quite amusing that they're making
assumptions that the team are struggling, therefore they must be
struggling on run defense as well.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
Yeah, it's really interesting, isn't it, Because I get the
feeling at times that people may only look at the
box score or they certainly haven't watched the games in
their entirety, whether they've watched highlights or or low lights
or anything in between. It doesn't feel like they've kind
of actually sat and watched the games start to finish
like we have as fans. And you know, it's a

(21:38):
particular bugbear of mine is the way the media do
this at times And put a news article in the
group the other day about drafted a tackle which made
no reference to Patrick Paul. Granted he's only played one game,
but he played some really good snaps in that game.
He also, you know, stepped into them. I think was

(21:58):
it one series or one player in the Seattle game,
But you know, but he played one week and did
a pretty good job. I think he gave up one
one pressure, one QB hit, one sack. Like you know,
rookie starting on a on an offense that is awfully
complicated to run and is now being run by you know,

(22:20):
different quarterbacks and he's struggling, you know, multiple facets. I
thought he did a good job, and you know, it
made no reference to him at all. And I was like,
have you watched the Dolphins play? Do you know about
the Dolphins roster? I don't know. It just makes me
question it. Yeah, at this time of the year. Yeah,
I agree.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
I mean I didn't necessarily disagree with the pick because
the versatility of the player that they chose was quite
clear and he could pretend actually play anywhere along the line.
It was the rationale that we didn't disagree with because,
like you say, didn't mention anything about Patrick Porl at all.
It was just then assumption that the left tackle was
a position of needs. Yeah, I didn't, like I said,

(23:02):
didn't necessarily disagree with the pick because of his versatility.
Nobody need to get their rationale a bit more on track.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
Yeah, because it sounds like the the fact that that
you didn't disagree the pick is not because they were right.
You know, It's like when you get the answer right,
but you got the workings out all completely wrong. It's
that kind of thing, because yes, yeah, we could probably
do with an alignment that's absolutely a fair comment, but
you didn't know that when you put that in here,

(23:31):
you assumed that it was a left tackle, you know.
So yeah, you're right, not necessarily upset with the pick,
But I just think it shows would you have made
that same pick? How do you have had the same
you know, done the same research as maybe fans of
the team that watch them every week.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
Yeah, my daughter's doing her gcsc max at the moment,
and with regards to her maths, they get points for
workings out, so you could clearly say that this ESPN
report who made the pick would get a grade F
as well. I think because these workings out were all wrong.

Speaker 4 (24:07):
Yeah, you get you definitely get a mark for getting
a good pick, but you'd also get downgraded for not
necessarily doing your workings out correctly.

Speaker 3 (24:15):
On that note, it's halftime.

Speaker 4 (24:18):
You have another So last week, as a trivia question,
we asked you how many touchdowns did net Moore have
during his career? And Simon, did you know this before
you looked up before you spoke to Nat, I did
not know. I did not know.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
I wouldn't have had a clue, to be honest with you,
But seventy four is still a huge number, because don't forget,
during a lot of that time, he was certain for
a couple of years he was playing behind the likes
of Claytland. Duper, wasn't he? So seventy four? But then again,
he's had thirteen years in the NFL, So thirteen year career,
seventy four touchdowns is still pretty good.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
Oh yeah, absolutely, it's exceptional. Yeah, not saying that I
would have known, but that brings us onto this week's
trivia question. And do you want to deliver it though? Now?
Go aheadly, Okay, The Dolphins team captains this year Tron Armstead,
Kalaius Campbell, Tyreek Hill, Ala King Gold, David Long Junior,

(25:23):
Jalen Ramsey, Zach Sealer, and too a tongue of ila.
How many Pro Bowl selections do these team captains have
between them? Hang on, I'm going to try about this
out now because I haven't seen the answer, and you
put the question in this week, SOA.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
And I deliberately didn't put the answer in the team
in the notes league because I wanted to see if
you had any inkling or even got in the ballpark
of the correct answer, because it's a really good trivia
question I picked up from the Communications Department's weekly release
heading into the Indianapolis game, and I thought it was
a really interesting start, and it shows you the value

(26:00):
of having experienced captains because a number of Pro Bowl
selections that these have had their there's quite a few.
So I'm interesting to see Lee, what kind of ballpark
figure you've got in mind for the answer to this question,
which will reveal the answer next week, of course.

Speaker 4 (26:20):
And I've just taking it in there now, and I'm
going to say twenty five. I haven't looked it up
for anything, so if I am right, then I'd be
surprised if I'm right. But I say, you've got some.

Speaker 3 (26:33):
Long to reveal the answer next week.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
Yeah, you've definitely got some long termers in there as well.
And it's interesting, I know. Yeah, I'm not going to
you give way too much, but yeah, off the top
of my head, I'm going twenty.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
Yeah, I think the likes, Yeah, the likes of Amstead
Campbell Hill probably has had more Pro Bowl appearances than
ingold long junior Zack Seiler. And two, I'm not too
short of the top of my head, how many Jon
and Ramsey has had. Maybe he sits somewhere in between.
But yeah, they've Certainly there's a pattern here, isn't there

(27:12):
with regards to the captains that they've selected.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
That's that much clear.

Speaker 3 (27:17):
I don't Yes, as David Long Junior actually made the
Pro Bowl, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
I don't know more than once.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
Definitely, we'll give you, Yeah, we'll give give you the
answer next weekly, or I'll tell you off air whether
you're close or not.

Speaker 4 (27:36):
You can tell you, can you define to make you
wait till next week, but yes, you will reveal the
answer next week. So do you want to give us
a weekly pick them update? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (27:47):
Well looking forward to this one actually. So at the
bottom of the table, we lost another player, having had
three consecutive blank score weeks, so Blue e Co is
now rooted to the bottom of the table on forty
five predicted scores that he's got right now. Interestingly, that's

(28:09):
actually Steve who attended the watch party last week and
who was in the running for the Jalen Ramsey jersey
right at the end. Unfortunately he lost out, but it
was good to meet Steve there, who incidentally traveled over
from Ireland to watch the game at Spurs as he
was the winner of a couple of the tickets we
did on the charity raffle, So he had a great weekend,

(28:32):
so nearly going home with the Jaalen Ramsey jersey as
well as attending the game courtesy of the Dolphins. But
unfortunately his predictions leave a lot to be desired.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
If he'd won the jersey as well, I'd be playing
the lottery, I think winning tickets and the jersey. Definitely.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
Yeah, maybe he would have got fourteen out of fourteen
last week predictions. But just above him is Lee Finn's
fan who got ten, who sits a point ahead on
forty six. Also Rob Ashton that's it's on forty six.
Bris Mark fifty nine is on forty nine, and Dan

(29:07):
Crows on fifty having scored a really good twelve this week,
so good recovery from Dan. There at the top we
have Stokey Dolphin on sixty, the really fluky David Meyers
is on sixty two, Builto is on sixty three, seventy
two equals Perfection is on sixty three, and ray Bottomley

(29:29):
Raybot's seventy nine is on sixty five and has opened
up a little bit of a gap now I've slipped
out of the top five, so I'm not sure where
I am anymore. But shout out to Chef Randall who
got fourteen out of fourteen this week. I think he
might have been one of the only ones that got
full marks on every single game, so well done to
him well and also to Ray Bottomley is still out

(29:52):
in the lead.

Speaker 4 (29:54):
Brilliant. And that brings us onto the state as a division.
And we already spoke little bit about this with the
Bills and Jets playing each other last week, But side,
do you want to give us the divisional matchups this week? Yep?

Speaker 3 (30:11):
So the Bills at four and two, having beaten the
aforementioned Jets, as we say, and they are playing the
Tennessee Titans at home, who are one and four. The
Jets are traveling to Pittsburgh for another difficult matchup against
the Steelers, who are currently at four and two, and
the Patriots, off the back of a heavy defeat to

(30:32):
the Houston Texans, travel to the one and five Jacksonville Jaguars,
who have returned from I watched in London. Actually, isn't it,
of course? I say at Jacksonville. It's at Wembley Stadium.
In London. So not a great matchup for the Wembley
crowd seeing two teams at one and five, but an
interesting matchup nevertheless, as one of those teams are going

(30:54):
to be sat right at the bottom of the NFL
basement after that game, so important for both teams there,
and we have to be reinting for the Jags, I think.

Speaker 4 (31:03):
Don't we. Oh, absolutely, we always want divisional losses. It's interesting,
isn't it, Because I actually think that might be a
more interesting matchup because they're evenly matched, Whereas I think
sometimes when you get a lopsided matchup, I don't know
if it Eagles necessarily best of football. It just means

(31:24):
it's more one sided, whereas maybe with two teams you
get that close finish.

Speaker 3 (31:32):
I think the overseas viewers have had a couple of
unfortunate games head their way. I mean, don't get me wrong.
To see NFL football overseas is always a privilege. We've
seen it in London for many a year now, and
it's always great to know the NFL recognize a good
market and happy to send NFL games this way. And
of course there's been a game in Brazil and the

(31:54):
game in Germany this season and Spain in Madrid next season.
But to have a two to one and five team
one in five teams play at Wembley, and then in Germany,
you've got the Panthers and the Giants. It's really unfortunate
how those two games have turned out, isn't it? For
the spectators in terms of the quality of teams that
are coming over.

Speaker 4 (32:13):
Yeah, I think it's happened a few times, hasn't it,
including when the Dolphins first played that. You know, remember
that all the way back to that first game in
two thousand and seven when the Dolphins faced the Giants
at Wembley, and you know, they were really a shell
of the team that they had looked like being going

(32:34):
into the season, again with injuries as much as anything.
But you know, it kind of robbed, robbed the matchup
of what it could have been. And I think the
Giants Giants went on to win the Super Bowl that year,
didn't they. So it's weird because there's actually been a
number of teams that have gone on to win Super
Bowl that played in London beforehand. But yeah, some of
these matchups have not looked have not been quite what

(32:58):
they look like in the offseason by the time they
actually arrive, which is unfortunate, but like you say, anytime
you get to see the NFL in person, it's great.
We love the fact that it's still such a growing
market and people are so dedicated to watching the game
in this country and even coming to the watch party
and supporting us and the Dolphins. Remind me.

Speaker 3 (33:21):
At the end of the show, Lee, I want to
talk a bit about the International Series and potentially what
might happen in the future, and got some interesting news
on that front to share if the listeners haven't spotted
it already, but we'll cover that in the end of
the show.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
Absolutely, so that brings us onto our game preview. So
the Dolphins play cool. So the Dolphins play the three
and three Cults this week. They're coming off a twenty
to seventeen victory at Tennessee the Dolphins. The Cults come

(33:58):
in with many injury worries of their own, including Anthony Richardson,
Jonathan Taylor, the Forest Buckner among them, and the offense
ranks thirteenth in the NFL. Their rushing rank it's seventeenth.
They passed in ranks fifteenth, So everything kind of around
the middle of the league there, but their defense ranks

(34:19):
thirtieth overall, thirty first against the Rush, and twenty six
against the past, so that makes for an interesting matchup
heading into Week seven. So do you want to give
us some Bins facts? Yeah? I do. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (34:43):
We haven't given any Finns facts for a while now
because we only tend to do that when there are
lots of interesting facts to give up, particularly after a win.
But a Dolphins win against the Colts would improve Mammi's
leads to forty seven and twenty eight in the all
time regular season series with the Colts. A Dolphins win
would improve Miami's record to three and zero coming out

(35:04):
of the bye week under head coach Mike McDaniel. It
would be the dolphins twenty fourth victory on the road
against Indianapolis, and it would also be Miami's first win
over in d since Week ten of the twenty nineteen season.
And a Dolphins win, would you believe it would be
the Dolphins four hundred and ninety ninth overall regular season win,
putting them one went away from becoming the nineteenth franchise

(35:26):
in history to each five hundred overall regular season wins. Wow,
it's a lot of wins. Well, that is part of victory. Yeah,
we'll come on to our part of victory then, Lee,
shall we absolutely?

Speaker 4 (35:43):
Do you want to go first? Or would you like
media first? Go on?

Speaker 3 (35:47):
You go first?

Speaker 4 (35:49):
Cool? So I think my part of victory is I'm
going to relate back to the defense, and we go
to defense a little bit of love earlier. And I
think it's important here that the Colts exput Anthony Richardson
to start this week, and that leads to kind of
an interesting one because not only do you have a

(36:10):
young QB coming off of an injury, but for all
the highlights that Anthony Richardson has put up, there's also
been some inconsistent play. And I think that actually is
in the Dolphins benefits slightly and I might live to
regret that saying that, but I think, you know, similar
to what we saw in the Titans game when Will
Levis went down and Mason Rudolph came in, that Joe

(36:32):
Flacco is probably a better calm in presence that is
just consistent and isn't going to make those mistakes that
kill the match up for you, whereas I think Anthony
Richison probably gives you a few more opportunities to do
so being a little bit younger and more inexperience. So yes,
his ceiling is obviously way higher. And now I've said

(36:54):
that he'll probably come out and play that way. But
at the same time, I think the consistency of Joe
Flacco could really hurt you in a match up like this,
So I think there's an opportunity here for the Dolphins
defense to get out early, get after him, and keep
him uncomfortable and essentially just stop him getting into that rhythm.
The Colts were kind of struggling when he was playing
earlier this season, so I'm not putting that all down

(37:17):
to him, but obviously he gets some of it attributed
to him being a starting quarterback. That's the way it goes.
So yeah, that's my past to victory is get out early,
keep him uncomfortable, and allow a lot of defense to
try and dictate the game a little bit.

Speaker 3 (37:35):
For me, I think it's let's have more of the same.
From the Patriots game, we saw how successful they were
running the football, particularly on that scoring drive when at
engeled caped haf seven running plays in a row. I
think to get that TV and let's have more of
the same of that, and I think you mentioned just
now the Colts defense currently ranks thirtieth overall and thirty

(37:58):
first against the run. So the path to victory for
me clearly is offensively control the game by running the ball.
Not only do you move up and down the field,
but you eat up time on the clock and keeping
the aforementioned Anthony Richardson off the field. And I think
they can do that as well, with Rahen Moster now
having come back, we don't and jail and Wright seeing

(38:20):
more reps. We don't yet know the status of Devon
hamp but if he does make the game, we will
have a good triple headed running back threat there against
the one of the league's worst rushing defenses. So it
must be more of an opportunity, you think, to continue
where they left off against the Patriots. In addition to that, Lee,

(38:41):
I would suggest they need to be more clinical in
the red zone and make the most of scoring opportunities.
Last time against New England, there were too many field
goals where drives stalled. Yeah, they got the points, but
they need to convert those opportunities into touchdowns rather than
field goals. Because arguably the Colts have much better offense

(39:01):
than the Patriots too, so I'm not sure they can
afford to continue to not convert in the red zone
if you like, and settle for field goals. Defensively, I've
got similar to you, and that they need to stop
the run. Obviously, a lot depends on whether Jonathan Taylor plays,

(39:22):
because he's the key to the whole offense. Yes, you
have the high ceiling of Anthony Richardson, but for me,
he's like a kind of a lesser version of Josh Allen.

Speaker 4 (39:32):
If you like.

Speaker 3 (39:35):
They're wide receivers, I don't think are elite either. Michael
Pittman and Josh Downs are their two leading receivers, and
both of them are currently carrying injuries, so we don't
yet know whether one or both of those or neither
will play. So they could also have a depleted wide
receiver corps, and you'd like to think that the likes
of jan and Ramsey and Kendall fur Or if he

(39:56):
is back, or whoever's playing corner or safety would be
able to cover those receivers. Obviously, they are a good offense,
they rank middle of the pack offensively, so they do
cause problems, and I think where they can give the
Dolphins problems is where Anthony Richardson improvises plays a little bit,
because he's certainly better that than Joe Flacco, who's a

(40:18):
traditional pocket passer. So two parts of the victory there, Lee,
and I think the Dolphins are more than capable of
doing that, especially running the ball.

Speaker 4 (40:28):
As I say, yeah, I agree with you. I think
you know, if you've been struggling on an offense, this
is the kind of defense on at least statistically that
you want to try and see, don't you. It's no

(40:48):
match up in the NFL is easy, but you'd like
to think if this team is struggling to stop teams running,
and that was what seemed to be the catalyst, but
opening up a few of the players in the past
game that this is kind of hopefully the way to
go that you know, you can get some get some

(41:10):
results there in the game and keep things moving. And
I think you know, like you said, we definitely saw
that late in a New England game. How that benefited
the team, and hopefully they can replicate that this week.

Speaker 3 (41:23):
I was watching an old Dolphins Cults matchup the other
weekly and it was when Dan Marino faced off against
Peyton Manning for the first time, and that was a
good old shoot out. I remember the game being featured
live on sky Sports, I think, and it was a
terrific game to watch. You had the young up and
coming whip a snapper in Peyton Manning, and you had
the old experience head of.

Speaker 4 (41:45):
Dan Marino.

Speaker 3 (41:45):
And ultimately Da Marino came out on top of that game,
but not after Peyton Manning gave them a good game.
And I don't know whether you or the listeners have
ever seen that game, but if you get a chance
watch it, because it's it's a bit of a doozy, I.

Speaker 4 (41:58):
Will definitely try find a way to watch it. I've
got feeling that one's online. Isn't it on YouTube? I
think could be wrong about that, but I will have
a look. Yeah, I'm not sure.

Speaker 3 (42:09):
I was going to give us a weather watch lead,
but then I realized that it's in the dome, isn't it.

Speaker 4 (42:13):
I mean, you can tell us about the weather anyway
if you want, you can go for Michael fish Fish
as the guy.

Speaker 3 (42:18):
I did do my research. Yeah, I did do my research.
And in Indianapolis, there are going to be scattered clouds,
it's going to be sixty three degrees fahrenheit. But that's
going to have no bearing on the game whatsoever because
it's on.

Speaker 4 (42:29):
Well, you say that they can play with the roof
open right at Lucasol Stadium. They can play with a
roof open. The Dolphins did once know that, so perhaps,
but hopefully it's closed and the weather's not a fact
that we just get a good game of football.

Speaker 3 (42:49):
Yeah, you just want to say that to justify the
fact we're doing a weather watch.

Speaker 4 (42:52):
Really, I think, yeah, I'm trying to help you outright,
just go with it. Teamwork, right, Mike mc daniel be
proud of us right now.

Speaker 3 (43:02):
Absolutely so.

Speaker 4 (43:04):
Where I was going to say say exactly what you
just said, So, yes, where can we watch the game?

Speaker 3 (43:12):
As far as a know, League game passes the outlet
this week. I don't think Sky Sports yet have announced
their fixtures that they're going to be broadcasting this weekend.
I checked earlier. So at the moment, your main outlet
for the game is going to be game Pass.

Speaker 4 (43:29):
And you said that you wanted to mention something else
before we let the show.

Speaker 3 (43:34):
Yea, There's a couple of things I want to talk about.

Speaker 4 (43:35):
First.

Speaker 3 (43:36):
One I mentioned about the international series. We talked about
it earlier. Now interestingly, the Jacksonville Jaguars have had formal
approval to renovate their EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, which has
confirmed their commitment long term to remaining in Jacksonville, which
is great for the local population. But one of the
consequences of that is that the renovation is going to

(43:59):
happen over a series of years, including twenty twenty seven,
when they are going to be playing a whole season
away from Jacksonville in terms of their home games. So
in twenty twenty seven, one of the games they are
due to host is against the Miami Dolphins, So clearly
the Dolphins are not going to be playing in Jacksonville

(44:21):
that season. They're going to be playing at a stadium
to be confirmed. And given the talk of an NFL
team being based permanently in London, you do wonder whether
the Jags would play a whole season in London. And
I'm clearly obviously speculating because we've got a vested interest
in them doing that, because if they do, then it's

(44:41):
going to be an opportunity to see the Dolphins play
in London once again. At the moment, though, the agreement
that the Jags have, and I've done a little bit
of research into this in terms of playing overseas and
international series games, commits them to three overseeries games in
twenty twenty seven, So that doesn't necessarily mean it's home

(45:03):
or away, but they are committed to playing three up.
That agreement can be amended, of course, given the fact
that they need to find a new home for that stadium,
you do wonder whether Wembley would be an ideal venue
for the NFL to try out there. Like I said,
purely speculating because we have an interest that if the
Jags do come over, we'll be seeing the Dolphins in England.

Speaker 4 (45:25):
I think it's interesting to speculate, isn't it. And if
it was me, I would think this is the perfect
opportunity to answer that age old question of is a
franchise sustainable in the UK. This is a way to
do it with no commitment. It's not like when we've
seen in the past. You know, the first time the

(45:47):
team went to Vegas and it didn't really work it out,
and then moving back and we've seen teams move around
in the history of the NFL, but here it's kind
of no commitment. I suppose the only downside be if
it works really well, then the actually gets ramped up
to put a franchise here or to at least play
a full slate of games here during the year. But

(46:07):
I mean, this would seem like one of those things
where kind of the opportunity has kind of presented itself
to test out the to test out that theory again,
you know, like you said, complete speculation, but it's an
it's an interesting one. It's going to definitely keep an
eye on over the coming month.

Speaker 3 (46:27):
Yeah, Just to extend that point a little bit more,
Roger Goodell did a Q and A with UK fans
when he was over here for the game in London
last week, and he talked a lot about the eighteenth
game and how that might look like and the conversations
surrounded lessening the preseason to two games, extending the regular
season by one game, and potentially have conversations about that

(46:50):
extra game being solely international games. So that would be
an interesting concept if that one materializes in a few years.
I think, given that you have one, I don't know
whether it would be I don't think it would be
one week where everybody plays international series games. It would
perhaps be spread out overseas, I thought, but an interesting

(47:11):
concept to keep an eye on.

Speaker 4 (47:12):
I think, yeah, I suppose it could be done either way.
I think, don't I do that something similar in college
football where a lot of the games in Week one
and week zero, sorry, in neutral site games. Someone who
knows more about college was probably best to answer that
question other than me, But yeah, put it out there

(47:33):
and going back, sorry, just going back a second. Sky
have announced their games for Sunday evening and it is
not the Miami Dolphins. Surprisingly, it's the Lions against the
Vikings in the six o'clock slot, and in the nine
to twenty five slot you've got the Chiefs at the
forty nine Ers.

Speaker 3 (47:50):
So yeah, games this week, aren't they?

Speaker 4 (47:54):
I think? Yeah? I be honest, it'll be fun to
watch the Chiefs and the forty nine ers play after
the Dolphins and the Colts on Sunday. Good match up
the Super Bowl rematch, So that's always a fun one
to watch if you can.

Speaker 3 (48:13):
Yeah, I do want to talk talk before we go,
Lee about a couple of podcasts I listened to on
the Miami Dolphins Network this week. The Fish Tank with
Joe Rose aka the Big Dog. I don't know if
you've listened to it, but that was a really good
listen reminiscing about the days he played with Dan Marino
and the likes of Claytonland Dupa back in the mid eighties.

(48:33):
That was a fascinating listen. So if you haven't checked
that one out, have a go and go and find
it because he come up with some really good stories.
And the other one was the Drive Time podcast with
Ali King Gold and it wasn't one of those players
that went away during the bye week. He stayed at
home for the after his dogs, but he did appear

(48:54):
on Travis's Drive Time pod and gave a really insightful
interview with a particular focus on the running game at
the Patriots game. So that was great for Travis Ingle,
Travis and Alec Ingald to have that conversation. So again,
another good podcast to go and check out.

Speaker 4 (49:10):
No I've got in my list of podcasts to catch
up on having been on board, I kind of just
took a week away from the podcast, but I am
looking forward to getting getting those listened to. And I
think it's definitely a good time to extend the offer
to Alec and Gold if he ever wants a dog
sitter that we'll be happy to look after his dogs
for him.

Speaker 3 (49:30):
Yeah, I don't think he would want to look after
our dog, strangely enough, because he's a mini sausage dog
and he's a bit of a handful.

Speaker 4 (49:38):
Amazing. So with that being said, we are going to
make our exit board tonight, and don't forget to check
out us on all the different social platforms, including TikTok,
which people seem to be enjoying at the moment, which
is great as it was something so I started a
few weeks ago, so thank you, so you appreciate that

(50:01):
and the clips that you've been putting out there. Check
out the Dolphins social channels as well as YouTube Travis
and the Drivetime Show as I mentioned, stefan oj and
the Fish Tank and all the other Dolphins social content
and Dolphins HQ which I've got to catch up on

(50:22):
as well. I believers, and you want dropping this evening,
which is always good for first thing on a Friday morning.
But with that being said, let's hope for a win
on Sunday and we will talk to you again very soon.
