Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
Michael Bumpus.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Playfake going to roll right, dumps it off into the
right flaf to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off of one tackler,
gets inside the forty down of the thirty five yard line.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Powered by Seahawks dot Com, Matt pump fakes looking at.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
The gold line.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
He throws it into the m zone. Touchdown, Say Hawks.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
It's Michael Thumpas with a diving catching the end zone.
A ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpers, and the kid
out of Washington State has found himself a place.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
On this team.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Now here's your host, Nasa Jovie.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
What welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk, getting you
ready for the Seahawks in the forty nine ers on
Thursday Football this week, bump But unfortunately we do have
to spend a little bit of time on what happened
last Sunday. I'm not gonna let to you. I am
the team without question, did not overlook the Giants.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
But I did.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
I did, Yeah, I did. I didn't.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
I knew that the D line was gonna be good,
of course, but I didn't realize that D line would
essentially win the game for these guys. Yes, Daniel Jones,
it is thing. Yes Robinson showed up. Yes Slayton showed
up as well. But I thought that we'd be okay,
that would be okay.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Obviously disappointing. We know the Seahawks didn't play to their capabilities.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
It was unfortunate.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
So we'll try to hustle through this kind of spare
you this a little bit.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
But we got to touch on it real quick. What
had happened, See what happened at first what happened was
what had happened was unhawked talk, so bump for me.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
I feel like every season for almost every football team
at any level that's pee wee, middle school, high school,
Division one, two, three, naia, you name it.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
All the pros got them all covered. Arena arena too.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Yes, you're gonna have a game where you just go, man,
you're gonna kicking yourself there in the season. You're like,
we're gonna really be sad about that one, and you know,
hopefully it's not gonna hurt the Seahawks later in the season.
But usually every team every season has one of those games.
This was that game on Sunday for the Seahawks right
out the gate. The Seahawks would punt on their first drive.
Then the Giants would go sixteen plays seventy nine yards

(02:02):
all the way down the field, which included converting on
a third and seventeen, but on fourth and goal for
the one yard line, Eric Gray got the ball punched
out Jerome Baker bump. I didn't react at all because
I just knew it was getting called back.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
I'm looking for flags all day.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
I didn't see one but a mice getting called back. Nope,
your boy ray Sean picks it up with a club
on his hand. So first of all, just throwing that
out there. Anyone who's ever played a game with like
a club or something on your hand, you know, have
your hands out there. I didn't realize you have the
club when it's hand smooth. Look it up, man, I
mean it was just wrapped up. He didn't. I mean,
it was just no finger nothing. He picked it up,
runs it smooth. Longest return in Seahawk's history one hundred

(02:38):
yard touchdown better be.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
I mean, well, no, I should say that longest were touchdown.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Defensively, Tyler Lockett had one hundred and five yard return
touchdown those longer, so the longest defensive touch Okay, but
that made the score seven zero, and then the next
two drives ended punts. But the Giants would respond with
another eight play eighty one yard drive forever, this time
ending with a seven yard touchdown to Wanda, and that
tied things up at seven.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Man, Then the Giants will kick a field goal, and
the Hawks will respond right before the half with a
field goal of their own, going forty five yards and
twenty seconds to tie it up at ten.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Things wouldn't go well for the Hawks in third quarter. Now.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
The Seahawks got to stop on the first possession, but
then would turn the ball over after DK would fumble.
People are questioning his ball security. You keep fighting for yards, DK.
People are asking me today, Oh, what are you gonna do?
You're gonna bench them? Come on, come on now, get
out of here. If you ever come up to me
on the streets and ask me something like that, I'm
just gonna eat a blank stare. I'm a and we're

(03:35):
moving on to the next okay, man. But the Giants
took advantage and they march down the field. They go
four plays, seventy seven yard drive any with a thirty
yard touchdown to Darius Slaton.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Slaton ballt on Sunday Man.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
That made the score seventeen to ten, both teams within
trade field goals, but then disastrous strike for the Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Going forward on fourth and one.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
I wasn't even mad at the fourth and one go
for it on the thirty five yard line. Gino was
sacked by Brian Burns and Seahawks turned the ball over
on downs. Was not mad at the fourth and one.
Felt like they would bring pressure. I'm sure Grub would
run it back and call something completely different. Ie Mike
McDonald say, yeah, we probably didn't handle that the way
he wanted to, but I like the aggressiveness.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
I wasn't mad at the decision. Wells tinsight, right, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
If Burns plays it differently, he crashes down the line
to screamage something happened. You know, it's a clean look.
It's the first down. We're not having this conversation. Unfortunately,
that's what happened. The Seahawks went not be able to convert,
but the defense did come up big help them to
a field goal, So that made a two possession game
at twenty three to thirteen. Then After trading punts, the
Seahawks offense would finally resemble themselves, going on a fourteen
play ninety five yard drive that ended with a five
yard touchdown the Jackson Smith and Jigbob. It was a

(04:39):
shame that we didn't see that earlier in the game,
but they're playing with desperation and they got it done
when they needed to that May to score twenty three
to twenty. The Seahawks defense would finally set up get
a huge stop, forcing the Giants to punt bump and
down three points. Seahawks getting the ball back at two timeouts.
Buck forty left, I'm like, we're winning this thing.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
It's a rap.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Then Gino runs thirty two yards in that scramble, helped
out by Jays. That is that's teach tape.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
Right, That is that is awareness. That is awareness. On
ninety eight on Matten, he's running down the field, he
sees that Geno scrambling, He digs even harder, throws the
hand up. Eyes got big, like he's really catching a
football to two defenders with him.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
That added at least ten twelve yards for that run.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Yeah, and anyone making fun of the defenders there if
Jackson Smith and Jagba is running past me.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
He is throwing his hands up.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
I'm doing the same thing, sure, because in your head
you're thinking oh no, oh no.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
And he's got a step on them.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
All right.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
Yeah, so I mean, great play head to play there.
But at that point you're feeling pretty good. Then there's
an incomplete pass to Jason on thirty and four and
the Seahawks would have to settle for a field to
tie the game. My mind immediately switched over to like, okay, defense,
you got to come out there and get another stop,
a time up on the clock, and of course I
looked too ahead because the kick was blocked ran back
for a touchdown. Seahawks fall of the Giants twenty nine

(05:48):
to twenty. Bump and coach McDonald spoke about it after
the game. It's a legal play. Unfortunate they schemed well.
They won that matchup, but it definitely makes me think
that you're going to see that across the league everywhere,
because it happened to the Giants last year and they
lost the game because of it. So definitely think it's
a technique that we're gonna see moving forward. Teams are
gonna start coaching it.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
And then the other team's gotta start coaching it up,
like be ready for this, get your head up, you know,
see what you're blocking.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
And yeah, the Giants just put everybody on notice.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Yeah, that was that was tough. Seahawks lost time possession. Overall,
not a great day for the Seahawks, but even though
things didn't completely go the way, there was still some
playmakers touch.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Playmakers down Holy We'll start with the quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
You know Smith, he was twenty eight to forty two
and eighty four yards in one touchdown. He had four
carries and seventy two yards bump career high in rushing
yards for the big man.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Let the team baby.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Almost led to the Seahawks in the game winning drive, game
time drive. That's what he normally does. In this case,
they had a set of full field goal and that
was blocked. Unfortunately, Gino was sax seven times on the day,
so it definitely was the smoothest game. It was hard
to stay on the field offensively. That was in big
part to the Giants defensive front Dexter Lawrence getting in there,
Brian Burns, all those guys causing havoc.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
But you know, Jim did okay last game.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
Yeah, Gina was fine, man.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
You mentioned he completed seventy percent of his passes, had
some big throws, one to Tyler Lockett. Tyler Lockett at
four receptions for seventy five yards on six targets with
a long of thirty three. Lockett had a Lockett type
of game, very solid, a quiet kind of seventy five.
He did have a big play, but Gino Lockett on
the same page looked good.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
And then Jerome Baker welcome back.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Fourteen tackles, eight solo, one sack, one QB hit a
force fumble. That was his first game back since Week
two against the Patriots. So I'm good to see Baker back, man.
He brought a little pop to this game. On defense.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Yeah, you know what I love about Baker.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
The hand tape, no gloves, the raw make you feel
like he's okay about to smack somebody. But good to
see Jerome Baker back out on a defense. Defenses not
the same without him. Rayshawn Jenkins. He had the five tackles,
one thumber recovery, obviously the longest touchdown in club history.
Second longest return overall by Tyler Lockett I mentioned earlier
with one hundred and five yard kickoff return. It was

(08:09):
only one of two touchdowns on the day, so I
have big ups the race on there. Then you had
Derek call six tackles, a four solo, one sack, one TfL,
two QB hits. Hoping Derek is back this week, Bump.
He's really taking that next step this year with the Seahawks.
So looking good there, and then we'll wrap it up
sorrow dots in nine tackles, one sack, one TfL and
one QB hit.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
So Bump, we did it.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
We talked about it, flushing it.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
It's gone gone.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Teams already flush it.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
They are on the San Francisco forty nine ers, and
that is what's on tap.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
What's on tap?

Speaker 3 (08:46):
San Francisco forty nine ers two and three second place
in the NFC West.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Wouldn't be me.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
They lost win over the Jets, lost of the Vikings
Los Angeles Rams, and lost of the Cardinals win over
the New England Patriots, and Bump, I think this team,
as we.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Know, it's way more talented than that record.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
They had a lot going on in this offseason.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
Me and you've kind of talked about this a little
bit throughout these you know, what's the word in the West,
Brandon AYUK, Trent Williams contract holdouts. Then you had Christian
mc McCaffrey going to Germany trying to figure out that
Achilles tendon ightis doing.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
Illegal stuff over there. You going to Germany to get
something done?

Speaker 1 (09:21):
You know, some would say maybe just progressive way to
look at it. I don't know, I don't know, but you.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Can't do it here. That's why you're going over there.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
He's trying to figure it out.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
All right, man, well's healthy, just not this week we
get and he won't because they ruled him out, So
we're safe there you go. But yeah, he's obviously difference
maker and they're not the same team without him. But
they're still loaded weapons all over the field. But bump,
they are owed and to in the NFC West because
of what happened last week against the Cardinals.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
All right, this game was weird, man. It was a
head scratcher.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
The Cardinals team who was just embarrassed at home forty
two to fourteen against the Washington Commanders last week, went
to Cali meet the Niners twenty four to twenty three.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
That was our first win against.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
The forty nine Ers is twenty twenty one, and this
marked the second time this season that San Francisco blew
a double digit lead in the fourth quarter to a
division ridle rival, having done it in Week three against
the Rams Man the Niners bad tendencies, get off of it,
don't do it.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
I'll actually do it again. We'll do it again this week.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
Niners lost this one division game the past two seasons
when winning NFC West titles, but are zero and two
already this year after the six blown double digit win
lead in the fourth quarter in the regular season and
playoffs under Kyle Shanahan. This sing what they do, but
for some reason it's popping up this year. Yeah, and
you got to be concerned. If you're a Niner, if
you're a Seahawk, you're looking at this and saying you're

(10:34):
never out the game. So if you're up a score
or two scores on Thursday, you don't panic. The Niners
might keep you in this game. The Niners were shut
out in the second half. The forty nine Ers second
half drive and win interception downs, nope, fumble interception.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
It was crazy for the Niners. Man.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Yeah, you know their offense is so explosive. So when
you saw it like we're obviously working the seas galom
keeping an eye on their score, and then once the
night go up ten, you go, okay, this game's over right,
but the Niners stuck in it. Kyler Murray led the
Cardinals with a game winning drive, going fourteen plays seventy
five yards, making the score twenty four to twenty three
with one thirty seven left the regulation. Knowing the Niners
getting the football back in the NFL, that might might

(11:14):
as well be an eternity down one point, just needing
a fuelgal to win. Whoever brock Party would throw an
interception two plays after having a pass tip picked up
by Kaizer White. Murray finished the day nineteen of thirty
one hundred and ninety five yards, one touchdown, one interception.
He also had eighty three yards rushing on seven carries
on one touchdown, which included a fifty yard touchdown where
he threw up the Peace signed dog at the line

(11:36):
of scrimmage.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
That is so disrespectful.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
He saw the speed, he saw the field, he knows
his speed, saw the angles. He did math in zero
point five seconds and said we're good. Check the deuce
up man I wish I was ever that fast to
do something like that for real, man, what that feel like?

Speaker 1 (11:50):
I would know? I would have got hot like five yards.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
James Conrad today also nineteen carries eighty six yards, and
for the forty nine ers Brock party, he went nineteen
of thirty five. I have two hundred and forty four
yards one touchdown in two interceptions. Jordan Mason had fourteen
carries for eighty nine yards, and then Brandon.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Dyuk showed up.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
Bump had his best game of the season, eight receptions
one hundred and forty seven yards.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
In the defeat, Ayuk went crazy. He got them, He
got them season legs. Now, he's good. You know I
need to get some reps?

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Are you? Goodness? Gracious?

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Let's look at this head to head ump.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
The Seahawks offensively still up there, seventh overall in the
Nation Football League three hundred and seventy six yards average
on offense running the ball lower than you'd like, twenty second,
one hundred and five yards on the ground. Passing offense
still up there, third in the NFL at two hundred
and seventy yards per game. In points per game, they
are eleventh. When you look at the forty nine ers,
they're still a force to be reckoned with on offense,

(12:43):
second overall offense in the league, four hundred and seven
yards per game, eighth best rushing attack at one hundred
and forty four yards without Christian McCaffrey. Pass offense their
fourth two hundred and sixty three yards per game, and
points per game twenty fifth, so their tenth. So the Niners,
they're not putting the record, you know it's two and three,
but we obviously know this team is more talents of

(13:03):
that offensively, and they can put up points to the
drop of the hat.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
Yeah, nine has been putting up points since like eighty seven.
This is what the Niners do. Apparently. Defensively, they're ninth overall,
ninth against the run, twelfth against the pass, and twelfth
when it comes to opponents scoring points, opponents are averaging
twenty one point two. The Hawks still a top ten
defense overall, twentieth against the run, seventh against the pass,
seventeenth when it comes to points, allowing opponents opponents to

(13:29):
score twenty two point eight points per game.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
Time of possession.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
Thirty four minutes for the Niners, twenty eight for your Seahawks.
Niners have four interceptions. Hawks have two interceptions. That's still
something that needs to get right. Take the ball away,
need more takeaways, no.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Question about it. And Perty has four interceptions on the year.
And when the Niners lose is typically when they turn
the football over. These teams NFC West rivals. Obviously there's
plenty of history between them. Let's get to know it,
no your history. Seahawks lead the all time series twenty
nine to twenty one in the regular season. Postseason matchups
are tied at one including the playoffs. The forty nine

(14:07):
Ers Bump unfortunately, have won five straight matchups against the Seahawks.
But before that, I like to really remind my forty
nine er friends that are in my life that from
twenty twelve to twenty twenty one, the Seahawks were seventeen
and three and the group traps were quiet there.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
It was hush.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
It was quiet for about a decade. So they've revived.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Obviously, you know, it is what it is Niner fans
out there, but that's what it is. And rightfully so
right now they've held the advantage. The last game, the
Seahawks went down to Clinton Santa Clair and lost twenty
eight to sixteen last season, and the Seahawks did all
they could to keep it close.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
You're without Geno Smith.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
Drew Lock started that game put up a solid effort
twenty two to thirty one, two hundred and sixty nine yards,
two touchdowns.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
However, you also had two picks. It was fourteen to
ten at halftime.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
It was close to Niners, though right away out a
halftime long drive Deebo Samuel touchdown, they made it twenty
one to ten, but the Seahawks did respond quickly by
I the best play call that we saw on.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
The Shane Waller.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Yeah, that was nice.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Without question.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
The Niners run a play against the Seahawks the year before.
You fake a screen one way, fake a screen the
other side, hate the tight end team in the middle
for a touchdown. The Seahawks did that with Kobe Parkinson
for twenty five yard touchdown. Two point try failed. The
Seahawks trailed by just five, but the Niners would answer
in a three play touchdown drive with a forty four
yard score to George Kittle. Seahawks were kind of outmatched

(15:25):
up outmanned that matchup that brought that season to the
fourth game they lost in a row. Kind of brought
the season to a halt. The Seahawks kind of fought
back later in the year. Just was not enough. But
a lot of different players in this game, right obviously,
coach McDonald, completely different staff, a lot of different players.
Even for the forty nine ers. While it's pretty similar,
you're not gonna have McCaffrey. You have a new defensive

(15:46):
coordinator and former Seahawks defensive back coach Nick Sorenson. Our
guy kJ Wright is over there on the which is
so weird to me.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
It is weird.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
In the mayor with that, Polo be like, this is different. Yeah,
I used to hate these guys. I know it's business though.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
It is what it is. Well, we still love you,
k still love kJ. But let's figure out what happened
in the rest of the nscu's what's.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
The word the Seahawks or the NFC West Champs again.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
What's the word in the west On Hawk talk?

Speaker 4 (16:23):
Hey, things are changing, but they remaining the same at
the same time. In the division, the Seahawks three and
two at the top, Cardinals two and three, Niners two
and three, and the Rams are one and four. Man,
that is crazy. The Rams one and four. They always
find a way to kind of climb out of a hole.
Last year there were with three and three. We talked
to JB. Long and we kind of laughed at them.

(16:44):
All the Rams are gonna make the playoffs, and then
they make the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
They did.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
Yeah, but the division is crazy. But the Hawks are
still at the top of this thing. Let's let's revisit
what happened to the Rams last week. The Packers at
the Rams. The Packers went down to La and got
the job done twenty four to nineteen against the Rams.
With the score tight at seven, late in the second quarter,
Jordan Love threw a pick six. That was a disturbing
pick six too. It was a bad I get what

(17:09):
he was doing. He's in the end zone, he's rolling
to the right. He's trying to toss it out of
bounce Will Levis style. Because Will Levis did like the
same thing. He kind of underhands it. Easiest pick six
I've ever seen from a dB phil bad for Jordan,
but it is what it is.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
That is football.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
The Packers would then score the next seventeen points and
go a twenty four to thirteen Late in the fourth quarter.
The Rams will get back into the ball game with
eleven play ninety one yard drive that ended with a
DeMarcus Robinson touchdown that made the score twenty four to nineteen.
The Rams would get a stop on the next Packer
drive and get the ball back With two minutes and
fifty seven seconds left in the fourth quarter. They were

(17:48):
down five, but it wasn't meant to be for the
Rams man. They turned the ball over on downs eleven
plays on their final possession. Matthew Stafford finished the day
twenty nine to forty five two hundo sixty yards, one
touchdown win in reception whims low key balling this year, people,
I mean check check this young man out. He let
all rushes with one hundred and two yards, twenty two
carris and one touchdowns for the Packers. Jordan Love finished

(18:10):
the day fifteen to twenty six, twenty to twenty four yards,
two touchdowns, one interception, and Josh Jacobs has seventy three
yards on nineteen carris for one touchdown. Tight End Tucker
Kraft stole the show with four receptions eighty eight yards
and two touchdowns. And the Rams Man they're hurting right now,
limping into the bye week. Yeah, you know they're hoping
to get Cooper Cup back. Obviously, pookering cool is out

(18:31):
third team that I'm not going to underestimate at all.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
When the Seahawks play them. I think it's November third
somewhere in there. It's still gonna be a dog fighting
it always is with the Rams. They have one win
and it was against a pretty darn good football team
in the forty nine ers, So they're still there. But yeah,
they definitely need their bye week. It couldn't come soon enough.
But let's get back to those forty nine ers.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
Man up.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
This man, Man up on howked talk often? We start
with the quarterbacks, and today's gonna be no different. Rock
Purty take it on the Seahawks defense. And he's done
a lot bump over the year the last couple of
seasons to prove that he's a legit starting quarterback in

(19:12):
the NFL. After helping the forty nine ers to another
Super Bowl appearance. And yes, we know he has tons
of weapons. We're about to talk about all yeah, he
got a lot, but he's played some pretty good ball.
In twenty three, he was voted to his first Pro
Bowl after throwing for four two hundred and eighty yards
in thirty one touchdowns.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
Here's that ranked.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
Last year he was fifteen yards third and touchdowns fourth,
and completion percentage first in QBR first and QB rating.
But despite his success, and I'm guilty of this at
times two, he still has tons of doubters considering all
the weapons he has offensively, It's not his fault the
situation he got into.

Speaker 4 (19:47):
He was mister revelevant, he was drafted late. He's playing
with good players. It's like when you marry into a
rich family. You didn't know it, you know, You're just like, oh, yeah,
I love this girl. Let's go meet her parents. And
you walk into the house and you're like, damn, you
got all of this.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
You know.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
It's it ain't party's fault that he married into a
rich family.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
I just got to show up, you know.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
No, obviously we know he works hard, but no, I
think with him, it kind of came on to play
last week. I know a lot of people have reading
some articles, whether it's the San Francisco Chronicle a couple
different places, and I'm like, damn, they're really getting after
this dude. Where is the high profile offense. We thought
we were going to see his rock Purty soleing this
down because.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
You know, he's super athletic.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
He makes a lot of plays on the run with
his feet, which has helped them extend plays and make plays.
Last week was a good example. He got sacked a
couple of times and because their kicker got hurt yep
one of them. One of the times, I believe it
knocked him out of field goal range because their punter
was kicking and he's range was only too like you know,
twenty seven or thirty yard field goal. So it made
people feel a certain type of way. And so far
this year, you know, he has shown the ball with

(20:47):
four times in five games one O three for one
to fifty seven one, three hundred and seventy four yards,
six touchdowns, four interceptions. He's been sacked twelve times on
the year. Also has twenty two carries for one hundred
and eight yards, but has found it sets against the
Seahawks six yards passing, eight touchdowns, two interceptions and sacked
six times in those games.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
That's four games including the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
I'm sitting here trying to figure out who his backup is. Okay,
you got Brandon Allen and Joshua dives over there. Yeah,
go ahead, and start them. Then if the meeting is
stripping over there, go ahead and start those dudes. If
y'all don't want brock party over there. He's solid, but
every everyone has their tough years. Let's talk about our quarterback,
gene No smith Man. He didn't have a great week,
but didn't have a bad week. He still completed seventy

(21:32):
percent of his passes twenty eight to forty for twenty
four one touchdown seventy two yards on the ground. Through
five weeks, Gino was first in passing, fifth in completion percentage,
first in completions, first in attempts, and eleventh. When it
comes to QBR, he's going up against the defense as
ninth overall, twelfth against the pass.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
Look, you got to get the run going. I think
that's kind of been.

Speaker 4 (21:52):
The the the phrase that I've heard all week, get
the run going, Get the run going.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
But Gino still got a ball out too.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
He still needs his thirty five attempts through the air
and protect him and he'll eat the way the pass
might open up the run. I think that's kind of
what you need to happen, because the run hasn't been
working yet.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
And it doesn't have to be one or the other.
It doesn't have to be like bump.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
Run run pass, run run pass, because fans would feel
the same way if you get stopped twice and then
you go three and now mm hmm, they'd be like, well,
why aren't we throwing the ball? So it's a it's
more about To me, it's more about balance. When I
think of balance, it's like, Okay, what kind of game
are you calling? Even if you're throwing you a bunch
of pass plays, is that opening up the run? Is
it difference up? Because John Boyle made this point earlier

(22:33):
today when we were speaking. I think this might have
been on The Insider's podcast, but he said, think about
that first play, first drive the second half, Seas get
a stop tire Lockett off of play action gets that
big pass down the table. Obviously there's a fumble later
in that drive, but different things can happen. So to
your point, I have no problem with them getting Geno
going early with receivers. We've seen the success they've had.
We're just hoping that the run game can also get going.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Speaking of the run game, though Jordan Mason not a name,
I was super famili not gonna lie.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Heading into this year, you.

Speaker 4 (23:01):
Didn't know who he was, I think super familiar. You did,
You wasn't familiar at all.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
I had heard the name, Okay, I didn't know where
he was from what he was about.

Speaker 4 (23:11):
I'm sure I've heard of Jordan Mason sometime in my life.

Speaker 3 (23:15):
And so he's feeling it Forgression McCaffrey. One of the
most dangerous running backs in the league. That from McCaffrey.
We know the Swiss Army knife and the Seahawks were
lucky that he's not playing. But Jordan Mason is filled
it in a big way. And he's not just like
kind of getting it done.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
He's balling.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
He's second in the NFL and rust yards only behind
Derrick Henry, who's a completely other story. The fact that
he's doing what he's doing right now, and it's pretty
cool because he was undrafted. He leads the whole NFL
in carries and I was doing some research on him.
So at Georgia Tech, he had some good seasons and
then his senior year he essentially gets he.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
Doesn't get bench.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
He still played, but when you're when you kind of
get bench as a senior, and that's pretty tough. Yeah,
that's hard on the confidence. But when you hear it's
because of a guy named Jamir Gibbs.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
There you go.

Speaker 4 (23:57):
You go, well, okay, yeah in the moment, rough, but
I'm sure once it all went down and he watched
what Gibbs is doing, you're.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
Like, yeah, okay, and then Gibbs goes Alabama and then's
the first run.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
But it makes sense.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
Yeah anyway, So he's great on the ground. One hundred
and five carries, five hundred and thirty six yards, three touchdowns.
Seahawks defense has been struggling against the run. They will
be tested early and often because that Shanahan's scheme is
always evolving and always won that it doesn't it seems
like anyone has success in the backfield. Not taking away
from any of those backs, but it's gonna be hard
for Sea Austin and have to be on it this week.

Speaker 4 (24:28):
Yeah, that's a good story, Mace. I know I make
fun of him. I didn't know who he was at all.
I'm gonna be real on the podcast, but I know
who he is now though, because he is making plays. Man,
he looks good back there. I'll let's talk about these receivers. Man,
you got d Bo, Brandon Aiyuk, and Wan Jennings. You
look at any position on offense, Niners got a guy
or two who can get her done. In twenty twenty three,

(24:49):
Brandon Ayyuk seventy five receptions, thirteen hundred yards and seven touchdowns.
This is why he wanted to get paid. This is
why he held out and said, look, I'm one of
the best in the game. He held out the twenty
twenty four season, got a slow start. Now I think
he's got his legs under him. He's ready to go.
But he signed a contract right four years, one hundred
and twenty million dollars, but it took a while for

(25:11):
him to get going. Last week he had thirteen receptions
for one sixty seven. He looked like the guy that
the Niners paid for in twenty twenty four. So far
he has twenty one receptions for three hundred and fourteen yards.
And then you have Deebo, who's not even a position player.
He's like a real life flex player. You put him
anywhere you want to. He can ball out man. He

(25:33):
missed one game so far this year because of a
CAF injury, but so far, seventeen receptions two hundred thirty
three yards and fifteen carries for thirty six yards. Who
won touchdown. Don't let the numbers fool you. He's a volcano.
Willie rubbed at any moment. But one of the biggest
surprises Jan Jennings. Man Jennings He's you already knew who
he was. He had himself some good years in the league.
But so far this year he has twenty two receptions

(25:55):
for three hundy seventy seven yards and three touchdowns. So
they got they got too that they can lean on,
and three different type of receivers, which always makes it
more difficult for a defense to defend.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
Yeah, I mean you said at the beginning of that
that there's someone at every level that is dominant and
that you could argue is the best at what they
do right, which is difficult anytime you're facing off as
that kind of five power. I think the Seahawks, with
a quick week, knowing what's happened recently, are arguing to
be on their p's and q's, but they're gonna have
to work for it. So you know, Rieke Wollen is

(26:26):
a little banged up. I'm expecting I'm hoping for a
big balance back game from Tray Brown. Yeah, we know
what Spoon can do. I'm hoping to get one of
those Spoon games.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
Been waiting. It's time.

Speaker 3 (26:35):
He's due, lighting people up, getting a couple of interceptions
just cause and have it because that's what twenty one does.
So the Seahawks secondary will definitely have their hands full
now Sickond with the forty nine ers.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
Nick Bosa. I don't really need to talk a ton
about Nick Bosa. We know who he is.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
One of the best linemen in the league since twenty nineteen,
Defensive Player of the Year in twenty twenty two with
eighteen and a half sacks. Last year he still made
the Pro Bowl, but his numbers are down. Okay, but
I would say any NFL player, any person for that matter,
would take fifty three tackles, ten and a half sacks,
sixteen TFLs and thirty five QB hits.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
So if that's a down year for you, good for you.
And he's been pretty active.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
Film of the stats sheeet this year so far, not
crazy dominant, eighteen tackles, three sacks, six TFLs, one forced umber,
one pass defended, and six QB hits. Big Bosa, we
got to know where he's at every time. Obviously ninety
seven bump. All you gotta do is turn on the
film to know how impactful he can be. And I'm
really excited to see him match up with Charles Cross,
him match up with some forceythe and just kind of see.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
But he's definitely number one problem in that front seven.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
And here's the thing too, man, these tackles have seen
some guys so far this year Aiden Hutchinson and then
you had Burns and Thibodeau last week. I mean, they
they've seen it so that they should be they should
be ready for this, but it's going to be a challenge.
Let's look at the Seahawks running backs and the Niners
front seven, specifically Fred Warner. Dude is a baller. The Seahawks,

(27:59):
they didn't see much action against the Giants. Ken Walker
zach Scharbeney can bind for just thirty yards on seven
carries is crazy to me.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
It didn't feel like that. For some reason.

Speaker 4 (28:07):
It felt like they touched about more, probably because they're
active in the past.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
Game, so I saw them get a few receptions so
far this year.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
Ken Walker thirty seven carries toward it in two yards
and four touchdowns. Zach scharbeney forty four carries, one sixty
seven and three touchdowns. The forty nine defense is they're
too good to be one dimensional. We know how good
the Niners defensive line is, but they are good. And
the guy right behind him is the best linebacker in

(28:33):
the game, and that is Fred Warner. Warner into the
league in twenty eighteen and has over one hundred tackles
in every season, and not just like down the field tackles.
I'm in this box. I'm meeting at the line of
scrimmage type of tackles. He's been a Pro Bowler in
a first team All Pro for the past two seasons.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
He's the best in the game so.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
Far this year thirty nine tackles, one sack, one TfL,
one quarterback hit, four passes defended, three forced fumbles, two interceptions,
and one pick six.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
What was at the week before this Cardinals game?

Speaker 1 (28:59):
Care Yeah, he was tired in the end zone.

Speaker 4 (29:01):
Yea, it was gas. He tried to celebrate. He did
one motion and then took a knee. He said, I
need that oxygen. But he's the type of guy that
can change a game. So you got to know where
he is at all times. Fred Warner is a beast.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Yeah, he absolutelys a beast.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
And again, I think I've said this in the last
couple of years that he reminds me of a young
Bobby Wagner.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
And he has now hit the absolute prime of his career.
He's in it right now, we're seeing it.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
So fifty four is gonna be all over the field.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
Bobby crowned him too. Bobby said he was the best
in the game at one point.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
He did, yeah, and he knew he was coming. He's
seen it. And then lastly, we'll finish up with the
forty nine ers.

Speaker 3 (29:33):
George Kittle. George Kittle. Obviously he's last in this lineup
and not the least. He remains one of the best
tight ends in the NFL. He's fourth in the NFL
when it comes to receiving yards among tight ends. He
has twenty three receptions two hundred and twenty five yards
in three touchdowns. He's a guy that gets done in
the run and the pass game matchup nightmare. The thing
about Kittle that you look at is he's a dude

(29:54):
that'll that'll pancake defensive ends and then go down and
beat you for a fifty yard touchdown.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
So Kittle is dangerous.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
Career against the Seahawks, He's had a lot of success
fifty one reception, seven hundred and fifty yards, five touchdowns
in twelve games, not including the postseason matchup where he
also went off.

Speaker 4 (30:10):
Just messed up. Yeah, guys, wish to do that in
a season. He's done it in twelve games against the Niners.
I mean the Hawks crazy.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
Yeah, So it's gonna be different matchup, different defense, different
players going on. But Bump, they are incredibly talented, but
so are the Hawks. The Hawks are ready the three
in two. Let's figure out how they're gonna get this done.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
Pat the victory after forty five waits for the staff,
Michael Dixon puts it down.

Speaker 2 (30:35):
That kick is away. If that kick.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
Is gone, to say off when it's gone, it's a
path to victory. On Hawk Talk.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
First divisional matchup for the Seahawks on the season and
number one for me. Bump, I think it's pretty simple.
It's stop the run. A lot more simple simple to
say than it is to do. But the forty nine
ers will make you pay if you don't look at
the last five games in this matchup to limit the damage.
They have so many weapons. You can't shut everybody down,

(31:04):
but no one can get go off. And for me,
it starts with the run game.

Speaker 4 (31:08):
Yeah, you can't have Mason go for a bucks sixty five,
you go for a hundred kittle goal for a hunting
You gotta you gotta maintain these guys and put some
pressure on parties. Not having the greatest year so far,
so just stay in his head. Right, he will turn
the football over if you put some pressure on him.
And it's time to see a big game from two

(31:28):
to one man, we've been waiting for him. He's played
he hasn't played bad, but no, he just hasn't had
that big play that we're used to seeing him make.
And then offensively, you need to start fast and you
need to stay on the field, run the football, be
stubborn with him, mix the game up, make it a
physical one because it's gonna be physical regardless.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
Yeah, you don't have an option, so you'd rather be
the hammer out the now right.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
The Niners have had success at Loominfield the last two times,
which I know's got to rub a lot of people
the wrong way. And it's a huge game front of
national audience on Amazon Prime. So protect Gino Smith because
NAS is not the standard. We know that, and don't
let Nick bos to ruin the game. We talked about
this five game streak. The Seahawks had dominated this rivalry
for so long. The Niners have been in control. But

(32:10):
as every coach knows, last year doesn't mean anything. The
last game means nothing. It's about right here and right now,
and it'd be really cool to see coach McDonald get
a big signature win in primetime at home.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
I'm excited.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
I think the Seahawks can do it. It should be
a fun matchup. Pregame show on the radio will get
going at two pm on your seatow stations following Bump
in Stacey.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
It's a long day for your long day, brother, Yes,
I hope. Sorry. Reminder you can getch us anywhere.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
