Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
Michael Bumpus. Play fake, go to roll right, jumps it
off into the right flass to Michael Bumpers, who bounces
off of one tackler, gets inside the forty down of
the thirty five yard line. Powered by Seahawks dot Com.
Matt pumpfake's looking at the go line, he throws it
into the end zone. Touchdown, Say Hawks, it's Michael.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Bumpers with a diving catching the end zone on ten
yard touchdown reception for Bumpers, and the kid out of
Washington State has found himself a.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Place on this team. Now here's your host, Nasa Jovie.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk this week, the
Seahawks getting ready to take on the Atlanta Falcons.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Bump.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
But before we get into that, we weren't able to
connect before after the forty nine Ers game, but we
just want to touch on that a little bit. We're
not gonna take a lot of time, so don't worry
about a y'all, but a couple of.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Main takeos I want to get to.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
And last Thursday night was tough, Bump because the Seahawks
have lost. Now six in a row to the forty
nine ers, which just pains me to say night. It
just hurts my soul. But when you look at all
the last six games, that game was the one I
think the Seahawks really.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Could have gotten. Yeah, man, it felt like a missed opportunity.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
And when you break through that game, you know the
Seahwks obviously didn't play incredibly well. They were down twenty
three to three. It looked like things were in really
dire straits. But then our guy Leabiscus Chanal takes it
ninety seven yards to the crib. Then the Seahawks get
a stop thirteen played ninety four yard drive, found themselves
down six points. Then unfortunately Genos Fith gets picked off
on the attempt to decay.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
But after all that Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Score bring it to twenty nine to twenty four a
minute forty four maning with all three timeouts, and if
it wasn't for a procedure penalty, they could have scored
with four to forty six were to have completely changed
the game anyway, seventy six yard run by their running
back and it's kind of over there. So despite everything
that we saw, despite as poorly as they played at
times when you look at the film when you had
time to digest it or your kind of main takeaways

(01:54):
from that game.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Main takeaways was, you know, the Niners they're turning a corner.
It's been tough for them to year and they're starting
to figure themselves out. I mean, Mason has been great
this whole year, and they're just for sure tacklers. It
seems like the tackling has gone down for the Seahawks.
And then I went out, I looked up the tackling
right miss tackles. I just knew the Seahawks are going
to be up there. Went through PFF. You wouldn't be surprised.
Niners have the least miss tackles at four. Team the

(02:18):
most are like the Buccaneers at forty four and the
Hawks are like right in the middle around twenty four.
So it's not a huge problem, but it's something that
popped up. I look at the Niners' offense, they just
do a great job of getting bodies on our linebackers.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Baker and Dodson had a tough day.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
If you get guards free releasing to these backers, it's
gonna be tough for any linebacker to get loose every
single play and then again not being able to run
the football. You come out, you tried to run the football.
What twenty carries or fifty yards or something like that.
You tried to run it. You tried. But then once
you get behind, it's twenty three to three at one point,
Thank goodness for Laviska for taking that kickoff to the house.

(02:54):
Once you're down, the game plan is different. I know
you came in grab you want to run it, but
his hands are tied. At some point he has to
score quickly. They become predictable and then they start dropping
seven and eight and makes it harder for Gino to
make some plays. But like you said, they were still
in it. If there was a game for them to
win against the Niners, this was the one. That's why
it hurts so much.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Well, the nice thing the Seahawks play the forty nine
ers down in Santa Clara.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
It'll be off of a bye week.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
I don't know if that's happened during that streak, so
it'll be nice to see that happen playing them well
rested and despite the three losses, in some tough moments,
but the Seahawks have been within a touchdown in the
fourth quarter of every game they've lost during the streak,
so it's pretty wild. They haven't played their best football
over this stretch, but they're still in games, which is
good to see. One thing though, we'll talk before we
get into the Falcons a couple of roster moves. The

(03:38):
Seahawks bolster their defensive line depth, adding Roy Robertson Harris.
He's thirty one years old, paired in one hundred and
six games with sixty two starts since coming out of
the league undrafted at a UTEP in twenty sixteen. He
played in Chicago, was just late lately in Jacksonville, starting
forty nine to fifty four games, including seventeen starts each
of the past two seasons. Over the course of eight years,

(03:59):
he has one hundred and ninety eight tackles, nineteen sacks,
twenty six TfL sixty six quarterback hits, and thirteen passes defended.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Bump How does he help this front seven big boy win?
Washing the film, first thing I noticed was pop. You
know when you see the offensive lineman and defensive lineman
go to the sled and it's popped the sled and
you feel the violence. I felt the violence through the
film with this dude right here. And also he can
play inside and play outside as of lady. He's been
playing kind of outside d n kind of look with
the Jags, but he's also played inside as well, so

(04:27):
he can take on these double teams. Man six five,
two hundred and ninety pounds, he's a big boy.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
He's gonna help with this rotation. I'm watching film.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
Man, it's hard to take on double teams consistently and say,
fresh Hankins tough. I see him late in the game.
My man is tired. Cam Young if he were tired,
it's just when you's two against one, it is hard
to keep that same tempo throughout the game. So you
get Bira Murphy back this week hopefully, and then you
gotta We'll see how much Roy plays, and I think

(04:55):
it's gonna help their rotation. The good thing about defensive line,
it's one. It's not an easy position. They'll get me wrong,
of course, but if you are going to insert somebody
in a short week and say go ahead and get it,
defensive line is where you do it. This is your gap.
He can look back to Dotson or Baker. I wear
my hat line me up. This is my gap. Cool,
I'm gonna go get it.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
No. And the thing about defensive lines, even when the
Sious had their best defensive line twenty thirteen, they weren't
playing seventy ninety percent of the snaps. They need to
be rested so they can really get after when they're
in there. So it'll be good to see what he
can do. There some unfortunate new see US play starting
safety Rayshawn Jenkins on IR on Wednesday, meanings he's gonna
have to miss at least four games. Jenkins was a

(05:34):
free agent this year, third in the team in tackles
and played every snap on defense. Bump so obviously a
huge bummer there. He's been trying to get through it
the last couple weeks with that club on his hand.
But the cool thing about this for me, Bump is
just going to get an opportunity for guys like Kobe
Bryant and Cavon Wallace.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
How do you think they're gonna step into this? I
think they'll be fine. Man.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
We've seen Wallace a few times this year. He's actually
made some plays this year in the flap. I'm the
one I'm more excited to see is Kobe Bryant because
he started his career off great forest fumbles. He can
play nickel corner, the safety. He's versatile. But they bring
some guys in and he kind of gets lost in
the mix a little bit. So I think he's been
chomping at the bit. This is a hiss opportunity. The
thing I like about Kobe is just what I mentioned.

(06:14):
He's played everywhere in that secondary. McDonald's not gonna say
something that's gonna confuse him.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
He should be ready to go.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
And then Wallace he's been around too, So it just
creates opportunity. Man, I'm gonna be looking at special teams. Man,
I want to see Okata. I want to see young
o'cada out there, get some play man.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Big Sky love out there. So Ty, all right, let's
get back into these Falcons. What's on tap?

Speaker 1 (06:38):
What's on tap?

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Atlanta Falcons four into first place in the NFC South
with losses to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Kansas City Chiefs,
but wins over the Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints, Tampa
Bay Buccaneers, and the Carolina Panthers. But these guys are
playing some really good football. Winners of the last three games.
The Pathers are down bad right now. I'm not gonna
lie to you, So take that is however you want

(07:02):
to take it. But guess what, they're an NFL team.
They handle business, did what they're supposed to do. Kirk
Cousins is now the starting quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons,
So they're doing some good things.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
So bump, they're a lot better I think than people think.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Yeah, And the thing about that for me is stability
right at quarterback the last couple of years. Who's been there.
It's been Marcus Mariota, it's been Desender.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
So Kirk who people probably feel a certain type way
about him. In Minnesota, he was up and down right.
I think he's a good quarterback. He obviously got paid
all that money. Now he's in Atlanta, and I think
he's really helped them stability. And we're gonna talk about
all their playmakers that they have and holime, he's kind
of helped them Last week against the Panthers, I mean
Bijon Robinson Algier story of the game. They ran for

(07:44):
like two hundred yards together. The game was competitive, it
was a five point game, but then the Falcons would
alsogere the Panther sixteen to three and the second half
en route to the thirty eight to twenty win, and
a lot of that was because of turnovers. Two turnovers
by the Panthers and a turnover on downs. Kirk Cousins
finished the day nineteen to thirty two, twenty five, one touchdown,
Algie and Robinson, Like I said, one hundred ninety yards rushing.
Drake London six receptions seventy four yards in a tud

(08:07):
Kyle Pitts three receptions in seventy yards. So despite who
they just played about, their playing some good football. Yeah, man,
and they got weapons too.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
You know, we're gonna talk about their defense and the
struggles that they've had on defense, but offensively, this is
why you're bringing Kirk Cousins in to help Drake London
take the next step. Who's doing great this year Kyle Pitts,
and you have two great running backs in the backfield.
Kyle Pitts is like the weirdest tight end in football.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Now, are you.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
Really a tight end, Kyle Pitts. I mean they'll line
you up there and you'll look like a tight end,
but your body type says I'm not blocking nobody on
this line, but you're finding ways to get these guys
the ball. Kirk Cousins is in the He's the perfect
quarterback for their situation because you just drafted Michael Pennings.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
We know all know who that is.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
Pennis is sitting there learning and they're winning ball games
at the same time. When you have a game where
you throw over five hundred yards, man, you're doing something right.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
So offensively, you can't sleep on these dudes, not at all.
And when we look at this head that had a
good segue here.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
The Falcons eighth best pass offense in the off total
offense in National Football League, averaging three hundred and sixty
eight yards per game twenty first in run offense one
hundred and thirteen yards per game, six in passing offense
two fifty four, and eleventh in points per game at
twenty four.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Flip it over to the Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
They are just ahead of them in total offense seventh
averaging three hundred and seventy three yards per game twenty ninth,
which hurts in rush offense in ninety six and a half.
First in pass offense in the National Football League at
two seventy six per game and they are thirteenth in
points per game at twenty four point three.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
So these teams are pretty close.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
They both can throw the paill right now, and they're
both kind of struggling to run the rock. The Falcons
obviously have two really talented backs we're going to talk about.
They did really well last week, but it was only
their second game rushing for more than one hundred yards
of a team. So the Seahawks and the Falcons actually
stack up pretty well when it comes offense.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
Yeah, it's it's scary how similar they are on offense
and on defense you can say the same thing. Total defense,
the Hawks are nineteenth, the Falcons are seventeenth. Run defense,
the Hawks are twenty seventh, the Falcons are twenty fifth,
pass defense the Hawks are tenth, the Falcons are ninth,
and points allowed the Hawks are twenty fifth and the
Falcons are fifteen. Not only are they similar when it

(10:10):
comes to stats, and they're both birds, Seahawks versus Falcons
is a bird gag game. So now the Falcons have
five interceptions, they also have only sacked the quarterback five times.
So if there's anything wow right, some tells me interceptions
are a lot harder to get than sacks for some reason, you.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
So the fact that it's five and five is crazy
to me. We'll talk about some of these matchups, but
that's where you have the edge on these guys.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Man, you gotta be able to protect that quarterback, no
question about it. Man, five sacks, that's that's rough. Man.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Hey, listen, I love to see it because whether Seahawks
have been going up against recently, when we talked about
Adon Hutchinson, when you're talking about Nick Bosa and talking
about Thibodeau and Lawrence, Yeah, I think Gino and the
wrestling boys are loving that. Let's flip it over to
these teams, Michael Bama said at the Bird game. They've
played a lot recently, and let's know the history, no

(11:01):
your history, or at least over the course of time.
Seahawks lead the all time series twelve to nine. Falcons
had the advantage in the postseason with the two and
oh record.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Last meeting.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
The Seahawks fell at home to the Falcons twenty seven
and twenty three and twenty twenty two. This was a
tight game and I remember when it happened again because
twenty twenty two We really didn't know what to think
about the Seahawks teams. They're kind of figuring out. That
was a game I really felt they should have won.
In the first half of that game, the Seahawks scored
on four of their first five possessions, including touchdown passes
from Gino Smith to Will Disley and DK Metcalf. Falcons

(11:32):
also scored on three of their five possessions, with both
teams going to the locker room Seahawks up three. However,
Seahawks had only three possessions in the second half, resulting
in just three points.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
Three possessions. Yes, goodness gracious, what happened was turned that
ball over then?

Speaker 1 (11:45):
Huh?

Speaker 3 (11:46):
I don't remember that.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
No, it was just the Falcons were just possessed running
the ball too. I think pat Devil Patterson had a
career high. Yeah, he kind of stole the show for them. Yeah,
one hundred and forty one yards on seventeen carries. But
it came down towards the end. The Seahawks with force
the phone will get the ball back down four. Late
in the game, they were driving the Falcon serratory, but
on a third and eight Gino got sacked. Then it
was fourth and eighteen, he had to throw up a

(12:07):
desperation pass got intercepted. He finished that day gino thirty
two of forty four three twenty five, two tuds, one pick.
Lockett led receivers with nine receptions seventy six yards. So
that game, I remember was started by Marcus Mariota. They
were kind of it started well from that season and
then it completely unraveled. Obviously, they move on from their
coach and a kind of wholly different realm than they

(12:29):
were then. So it'll be interesting to see how these
two teams match up. But a very very important game
for both teams. But let's check in on what happened
within the division.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
What's the word.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Side now the Seahawks or the NFC West champs?

Speaker 3 (12:46):
Again, what's the word in the West? On?

Speaker 5 (12:49):
HOWK talk?

Speaker 4 (12:51):
All?

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Right? Man?

Speaker 4 (12:51):
The Hawks are no longer in first place all alone
in the NFC West. They are tied with the forty nineers,
and technically the forty nine ers are in first because
they have the tiebreakers. The Niners three and three, Seahawks
three and three, the Cardinals are two and four in
the Rams are one and four. Let's look at the
Cardinals against the Packers. The Cardinals are still a tough
team to try to figure out.

Speaker 5 (13:13):
Man.

Speaker 4 (13:13):
After a huge rows win in San Francisco, they followed
that up with a sloppy performance against the Packers. The
Packers jump out to a twenty four old lead in
the first half, and the Cardinals were just playing catch
up from that point. They tried to make it interesting
by scoring on the next thirteen points, but a twenty
yard touchdown of Romeo Dobbs late in the third quarter
put the game out of reach.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
Packers got it done thirty four to thirteen.

Speaker 4 (13:35):
The Cardinals turned the ball over three times were penalized
thirteen times for one hundred yards. Hate to see it.
That was the main difference in the game for the Packers.
Jordan love Man Jordan love Man twenty two or thirty
two for four touchdowns. I think he has like four
touchdowns in twelve games or something like that. One interception.
Romeo Dobbs had three receptions for forty nine yards and

(13:55):
two touchdowns to his first game back after being suspended.
Because my man just decided not to come to practice
practice important. It is important. You just didn't hear the alarm,
Like what happened? You sleep in what's going on? Robo
Kyler Murray had an average day. He was twenty two
or thirty two for two fourteen to one touchdown, just
fourteen yards rushing. Trey McBride let all receivers with eight

(14:16):
receptions for ninety six yards.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
That's a tight end for you.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
Adding insult to injury, the Cardinal star rookie receiver Marvin
Harrison left the game with a concussion in the second quarter.
Once again, I still have no idea who this Cardinal
team is. How are they getting it done? You beat
the Niners, you lose to the Packerskler Murray rushes for
a few touchdowns, only fourteen yards one week.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
They're just they're consistently inconsistent.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
And the thing that's frustrating about that is, you know
when the season started, we weren't really sure and you
look at them and you can say, maybe, oh, those
are probably two wins for the Seahawks, and you still
hope that, but you just don't know what team's gonna
show up now. Obviously they just showed they beat the
Niners at Santa Clara at Levi Stadium, so they're still
a good football team.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
But every week you just don't know.

Speaker 5 (14:59):
Man.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Mmmm, that's a young football team right there, So we'll see.
But let's flip our attitude back to these Atlanta Falcons.

Speaker 5 (15:06):
Man up, man, man up on Hawk Talk.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
We've talked about him a lot already, Kirk Cousins taking
on this seak defense, bump and and Kirk has been
around the block, yes, several times. And I can't believe
how long he's played. This is thirteenth NFL season.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
That's crazy.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Spent the first six seasons with the Commanders, in the
next six season with the Vikings, and Kirk he's definitely
not thought of. I don't think is an all time great.
But when you look at the numbers, Cousins is twenty
first all time in career passing yards in NFL history
with forty one thousand, sixty nine yards. Only four active
quarterbacks have more, Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Safford, Joe Flacco, and

(15:50):
Russell Wilson.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
How many Hall of famers Aaron Rodgers? Check is Matthew Stafford?
He got still thinks Super Bowl?

Speaker 3 (15:56):
I think check Hey, Russell Russell talk to me at
three the end of this year. Yeah, he got an
opportunity this weekend.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
He had a Hall of Fame resume in Seattle, yeah,
without question. Yeah, but what happened in Denver is just
kind of muddy the waters a little bit, and we'll
see he falls in his court.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
Joe Flacco, I don't know. He got a Super Bowl.
He does, but I don't know, man, I gotta look.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
At his numbers because you got to have some style
points to be a Hall of Famer too.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
He's up there, I mean forever, I don't know, for
a decade. We asked the question, is Joe Flacco elite?
That was like the funny sports radio question, And I
don't know, man, he has numbers. It's just when I
look at Stafford, it's kind of like, Okay, the way
he played the game and his numbers, it just feels different.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
It feels different. Even though Joe Flacco got the Colts
over there winning games right.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
Now, Hey, he's been He helped out the Browns last year.
He's been helped out the Jets for a little bit.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
So anyway, going back to Kirk Cousins, four time Pro bowler,
most recent coming in twenty twenty two, he's been really
durable throughout his career too, and from twenty fifteen to
twenty twenty three, he started one hundred and thirty six
straight regular season games. I call it one thirty six
straight because technically won in there he did not start,
but they were arresting their starters. But all that came
to an end last year when he tore his achilles
with the Vikings. That didn't stop the thirty six year

(17:05):
old from getting paid four years, one hundred and eighty
million dollar contract this offseason.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
That was after he got paid with the Vikings. All
that his guaranteed contract stuff is him.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
Sure it did, his fall, sure did. So that didn't
stop him obviously. So he comes out, you know, after
the injury, and it's still been pretty good for him.
He's got the Falcons off to four and two start,
fourth most passing yards in the National Football League so far.
In Week five, he threw fifty eight times for a
franchise record five hundred nine yards and a thirty six
or thirty victory over the Buccaneers. So far this year,

(17:35):
he's one thirty eight two O seven one thousand, five
hundred and ninety eight yards, nine touchdowns, five interceptions. So
but you know, we talked about it prior to Cousins
coming in there. It was Ritter and Mariota really unstable.
Since Matt Ryan left out Seahawks. On the other side,
they have dropped to nineteenth in total defense, lying three
hundred and thirty nine yards per game. Hawks are tents
against the pass, allowing one hundred ninety five yards per game.

(17:58):
So it'll it'll be interesting here, another work cut out
for him. The nice thing about Kirk He's not going
to be making plays like Rock Party did, at least
with his legs nah, So if that front seven can
really get after him, it'll be important.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
He want to operate from the pocket. He don't have
that twitch. Paul Moyer call it that the Larry Bird
first step. That's what Rock Party had, And it's crazy
because I'm like, yeah, yeah, okay Moyer. But then, like
the first couple series, you see that Larry Bow first step.
I was like, Party, I don't hate you, I just
dislike you, all right, Geno Smith, it's the Falcons defense.

(18:29):
Geno Man tough game. Worst game of the season for sure.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
Man.

Speaker 4 (18:33):
It was the first time all season one of his
interceptions was mostly his fall.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
Right.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
We can make a case for all the other ones,
but that one was on him him won to locket. Yes, yes,
DK stepped up to the podium and said, look, there
was a miscommunication area. He drifted his route on that
second interception. DK owned it great accountability. That first one
was definitely on our guy Geno. He was thirty of
fifty two three hundred and twelve yards one touchdown in

(18:59):
two interception against the forty nine ers. It was also
the first time Gino did not complete sixty five percent
of his passes three of his five prior games, Gino
was over seventy percent. During the three game losing streak,
Gino has been under a lot of pressure. Nick Bosa
alone generated fourteen pressures last week. The Giants defense pressure
Gino thirty five percent of the snaps with seven sacks.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
It's hard to operate on the stress. Yeah, it's hard
operating pressure.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
Like he can make up for some of that, but
as consistent as the pressure has been getting to him
the last couple of weeks, I mean, you gotta be
realistic about what he's going to be able to do.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
Of course, and then the last one bump Aiden Hunderson
ten pressures alone.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
Yeah, come on, man, Aiden, big ups man. That injury
last week was brutal friendly fire too.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Man, that's the worst.

Speaker 4 (19:45):
It's like, you know you're gonna get hurt eventually in football,
it's gonna happen. But for him to be having the
year he was having, leading the league in sacks, second
or well second year in the league, third, third year
in the league, and then just to have his leg
just whipping around and hit his homie like in the
knee or the or something like that, snap that leg.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Some UFC stuff like you see it in UFC, but
just like that, Oh godly, And when they start saying
stuff on the broadcast like hey, we're not we're go
ahead and not children.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
Because I didn't realize, like when it happened in real time,
I'm thinking, what the heck happened? But then when I
heard that, I go, yeah, it ain't good for my guy. Man,
So big ups, man, big ups. But through six weeks,
Gino's been playing Okay, oh for all I know, you're
looking at the last week and people want to, you know,
talk about that. But overall, and Gino is first in
passion passing yards, he is eighth in completion percentage, first

(20:32):
in completions, first in attempts, and thirteenth.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
When it comes to q p R, he's going up against,
like we.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
Mentioned, the seventeenth overall defense, the Hawks are see me,
Falcons are allowing three hundred and thirty five yards per
game in ninth against the past, they are allowing one
ninety three.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
So they got to get secondary back there.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
Yeah, they do, and we'll see how their health wise
goes because Justin Simmons a guy who has been dealing
with an injury, and if another one of their safeties
on ir but Gino, we know what Gina can do.
Gino is an elite quarterback in this league. I will
stand on that because which he played that way and
he's played through some pressures, so he's allowed to have
a game or he's not at an unbelievable level. And

(21:10):
that being said, he wasn't horrible. His numbers look a
lot different if there isn't a procedure pedal. Now there's
a forty to fifty yard pass DeCamp. Anyway, I don't
need to get on here and get on my pedestal
about how I feel about Gino Smith. It's clear and
the evidence is in the tape. So we'll see how
he responds against the Falcons. Now on the flip side,
we're to talk some running backs. The Seahawks have struggled there.
We're looking at Bjehn Robinson and Tyler Allgier against Seahawks

(21:33):
front seven, and they're going to face another good duo.
Those two are are pretty good, man, They're pretty especially
be John Robinson, man first round pick out of Texas
dual threat running back, got to a great starting rookie campaign.
He led the team in rushing and was fourth in receiving.
Dual threat last year he had nine hundred and seventy
six yards four touchdowns and then he also had fifty
eight reception for one hundred and eighty seven yards and

(21:56):
four touchdowns, and those numbers got him selected to the
All Rookie team last year. So far this year picked
up where he left off eighty two carries three hundred
and eighty yards, twenty one receptions for one hundred and
sixty one yards. So he is definitely that dual threat
will kill you both ways. He is a hell of
an athlete. His teammate, Tyler als Year, has also had
a really nice start today's career. He rushed for a
team leading one thousand yards in the twenty twenty two season,

(22:16):
added another six eighty three Last year twenty twenty four,
He's got two hundred and eighty three yards on fifty
one carries, five point five yards per carry in one touchdown.
This duo was on full diest play last week, obviously
second time though Atlanta's went over one hundred yards rushing.
The other game was against the Eagles that had one
hundred and fifty two yards rushing. And here's the other
thing too, Bump Kirk Cousins, I was kind of going

(22:37):
through some stuff on their side. He told the ROC like,
what do you want to do this week? He's like,
I want to run it And he said We're gonna
run it till they stop it. And the Panthers didn't
stop it. And I'm sure that's going to be a
part of the game plan this week given the Seahawks
struggles in the run game, their twenty seventh overall allowing
one hundred and forty four yards per game. The last
two weeks, the Seahawks have allowed one hundred and seventy
one hundred and seventy five yards rushing to the Giants

(22:59):
in two twenty eight to the forty nine ers, but
but but let me say this. Here's why I have confidence.
This coaching staff has had entire weekend off. Guys, get
out of the building. We're getting some guys back healthy.
I promise you, I'll go out and pedestal and say, Okay,
this run defense is going to be a lot more improved.
The Sea are gonna have their first full week, but

(23:20):
they haven't had a good full week of practice. Haven't
been able to put on the pads since before the
Detroit game. They played three games in eleven days. I
know it's the NFL blah blah blah, but this is
the first week they're getting back to normal, another week
where they could really self scout and tell the truth.
Everyone's kind of talked about a DK talked about that
meeting on Monday where every kind of told the truth
forgu out what's going on. I promise you we're going
to see a much improved effort this Sunday. And I

(23:43):
can't wait to circle back to this on Monday. And
if it's not, then the intensity now I'm gonna stand
on it.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
But I am so confident.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
Okay, y'all heard it here, man, It's going down. All right,
Let's look at their receivers. Man, they got a cool
trio over there. Well, I would say two receivers in
a tight end slash receiver and got Drake London, Darnell Mooney,
got Kyle Pitts. The leader of this group is Drake London. Man,
he's he's becoming a start in this league. He was
a first round pick out of USC in twenty twenty two.

(24:15):
He hasn't been putting up crazy numbers, but you kind
of see the progression that's going on with London.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
He's been the most targeted receiver on the Falcons.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
In twenty twenty two, he was targeted one hundred and
seventeen times and one hundred and ten times last year.

Speaker 3 (24:30):
He hasn't had consistent quarterbacks. It's hard to be on some.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
Chemistry when you got rid of you have Mariota over there.
But he's finally found this guy, and I think Kirk
Cutbin's gonna be there for a couple of years. This
year he has thirty eight receptions for four hundred and
twenty eight yards and four touchdowns. Really liked him out
of SC two sport athlete also hoops. Other guy got
Darnelle Mooney. He spent four years with Chicago. He had
his breakout season in twenty twenty one, where he had

(24:54):
his only one thousand yard season. He's another guy who
has suffered from four poor quarterback play and miss rookie season.

Speaker 3 (25:01):
He had mis Trubisky. No, I ain't hating, but it's
mich Trubisky.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
And then he had a young justin fields behind a
rough offensive line.

Speaker 3 (25:09):
Mooney's off two A get started in twenty twenty four.

Speaker 4 (25:11):
It's got twenty seven receptions, three hundred and sixty eight
yards and three touchdowns. Lastly, the fourth overall pick out
of Floida in twenty twenty one, we're talking about tight
end Kyle Pitts pits out. He's had an interesting start
to his career, one that has huge expectations considering where
he was drafted.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
You drafted number four. People want you to do something.

Speaker 4 (25:30):
In this rookie season, he had sixty eight receptions oney
twenty six yards in one touchdown. He was voted to
the Pro Bowl and selected to the twenty twenty one
All Rookie Team. Its production dropped off after that. In
twenty two, his season was ended after ten games. He
had an MCL surgery. He appeared in all seventeen games
last season, but only had fifty three receptions for six
hundred and sixty seven yards. They're high on this guy

(25:54):
this year. So far this year, eighteen receptions, twenty sixty
three yards in one touchdown.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
He's just versatile. I kind of post fun out him.
Is he a tight end? Is a receiver, but he's
a tight end with receiver capabilities?

Speaker 4 (26:04):
Right, you can line him up on the line of scrimmage,
get one on ones with those safeties. If you want
to go big, move him to the outside. He is
what will bring some versatility to the past game when
it comes to the Falcons.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
You know what, not exactly in how they play, but
how he's categories. Right, it made me think deep pull here,
bump Marcus Colston.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
You remember Mary the Saints. I remember.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
I don't play fantasy football anymore, but when I did,
he was like a cheat because I'm like, hold on,
he's a tight end, but you can line up at
the flag was the whole thing. But like he I
think with him, the expectations are were so high. Anytime
you're drafting the top five, it's gonna.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Be especially as a receiver. That's crazy.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
But he's talented, the dude can play, so it'll it'll
definitely be a matchup for the Seahawks tenth in the NFL.
And it comes to passing defense, Now, bump DK, Tyler
jays sound, let's get back to our receivers his Falcons secondary.
While Gino Smith leads the league in passing yards, attempts, completions,
the receiving corps has been a quiet as a late
in terms of numbers. Last two weeks, no receivers had

(27:03):
more than seventy five yards or eight receptions. Prior to
the Giants game, dkm Metcalf set records in franchise history
with those three one hundred yard games in a row. Now,
to be fair, DK would have gone over one hundred.
I know you can't play this game, but if Walker's
feed are set and the ball snap, that's to your touchdown,
He's over one hundred yards.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
And we're looking a little bit differently when it comes
to the numbers.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
But there's definitely plays he wished he could make, could
have made in that last game. But we know how
talented this group is, right DK on the season four
hundred and sixty nine yards, two touchdowns. Lockett three hundred
and thirty nine yards one touchdown, JSN three hundred and
ten yards one touchdown.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
We know where they can be and what they have
been able to do.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
And if the Seahawks, which I think is gonna happen,
can protect a little bit better this week, I would
expect these three to come off and have a much
better game. Falcons secondary is led by All Pro safety
Justin Simmons, who is in his first season with the Falcons.
Also features other first round picks Mike Hubes and aj Terrell.
Falcons are ninth against the pass, sell one hundred and
ninety three yards per game. We'll see if Simmons is
gonna make it out there this week. I know he's

(28:02):
battling an injury, so this will be a matchup. I
really hope the Skaws can exploit and get back to
what we saw a lot, whether it's that Patriots.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
Game or against the Lions. Scheme up a little bit.

Speaker 4 (28:11):
Yeah, Atlanta has a good pass defense with ninth in
the league, I think is what we said. But this
is the strength of the Seahawks right now is throwing
the football and these three receivers, so they gotta leave
the charge.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
Yes, run the football, run, the football. Get Kin Walker
the ball.

Speaker 4 (28:24):
Let's talk about the Seahawks running backs against the Falcons
front seven. They gotta get this thing going, man, Yeah, yeah,
get it going. I don't know what you gotta do.
Double team? Who we got a double team? Get to
those linebackers. But the last two weeks have been a struggle.
Against the Giants, kin Walker and Zach Sharpeney combined for
just thirty yards but only seven carriages.

Speaker 3 (28:45):
You get down by a few scores, you gotta throw
the football.

Speaker 4 (28:48):
Against the Niners, the Seahawks definitely tried to run the ball,
but didn't find much success.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
They ran it twenty times for fifty two.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
Walker had fourteen carriage for thirty two yards in one touchdown.
The Seahawks are also looking for their first one hundred
rusher since Week one against the Broncos. Ken Walker got
that done. On the year, Walker has two hundred and
thirty four yards and five touchdowns. Charba Name has one
hundred and eighty seven yards and three touchdowns. Man, let's
get right. The Falcons are twenty fifth against the run.

(29:14):
They allow a buck forty two a game. This could
be it. Man be stubborn early, but you know if
the run can't get going, and things changed and you
have to adapt your play calling. But I'm sure Grub
has been in the lab trying to figure out how
to get these dudes going.

Speaker 3 (29:30):
No question about it.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
Yeah, it's hard to win football games and to call
the game you want to call and do all the
things you want to do if you can't run the
football right. We know this about Ryan Grubb. We know
this is about coach McDonald. We know about this team.
They want to run the ball. They haven't been able to.
But I'm excited to see if they can get that
going against the Falcons and get right.

Speaker 3 (29:47):
But let's tell the people bump how they're going. Yet
it done. Path to victory.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
After forty five waits for the snat, Michael Vickton puts
it down.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
That kick is away. If that kick is good, day off.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
When it's gun, it's a pass to victory.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
On Hawk Talk, Hawks need to get back in the win,
call a bump, find a way. Don't want to have
another four game losing streak. It's been a while, but
as much as it seems like the sky's falling, I said,
this is the beginning. The Seahawks have had an opportunity
to win. The last three games, they have been within
one score in the fourth quarter of each of those games. Yeah,
so ah, they're not playing their best football. They're not
as far off as the teams bump and.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
They got some rest.

Speaker 4 (30:26):
When you play three games in eleven days, that body's
gonna hurt, the mental is gonna be tired, gonna be fatigued,
and all that stuff. It's not an excuse, that's just
exactly what it is. But in order to get back
in the win calling, the Seahawks have to stop the run.
We talked about Bejon Robinson, we talked about all the year.
Algier is like the probably the sneakeest one two punch

(30:47):
out there. He rushed for a thousand yards last year
and nobody's really talking about this dude. So they got
a nice combo over there and stop being supposed to
plays man. Big ups to the number three running back
for the forty nine ers, I don't.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
Remember his name, Isaac Garrindo. Grindo.

Speaker 4 (31:05):
When you can break off a seventy yard run to
seal the game, man, that's demoralizing. So I know these
guys take pride in what they do. They're gonna get
that going and stop this run.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
It's the explosive place, right because the thing that sucks
about it and you can't play this game. Coach McDonald
talked about it at the podium this week, where you
can't take away a couple of plays and look at
the numbers. Yeah, but it does show you, like, hey,
we weren't bad against the run the entire game, but
when you give up explosives, that's what happens and it
looks bad. So kill the explosives. Gotta get that done
and let's take the ball away. Bump, Yeah, gotta take

(31:35):
the ball away. Thisxs are minus six turnover to Frenchill.
When I looked at that, I'm like, holy smokes. Only
the Titans and Raiders are worse right now, and it's
hard to win football games that way. That's a huge
stat that's a huge stat. You gotta take the ball
away and they're just not doing it right now.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
Yeah, can we get over five hundred this time? This
three and three? Life? Ain't it? This? Ain't it?

Speaker 4 (31:53):
You get over five hundred, we'll see what the nine
nine ers have the Chiefs, so we'll be scoreboard watching
seeing what's going on there.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
But take care of your house. Man.

Speaker 4 (32:03):
I know we're going to the Falcons, so let's let's
let's what are the kids doing kicking through the front door.
Oh yeah, you know the celebration they're doing right now
when need one of them. My daughter showed me that
celebration the other day. So yeah, let's get it. Ye,
strap strap, whatever it is, man, get it done.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
I feel good about it, and like I, like you said,
the Seahawks could be right back all alone in first place.
If the Chiefs take care of business against the forty
nine ers. It should be a fun one. It's gonna
be early ten am Pacific time. Seahawks pregame show starts
at seven am. You can hear Michael Bumbas, Paul Moyer,
Ray Roberts getting that thing done. So Seahawks taking on
the Falcons. Hopefully we'll be talking to you on Monday

(32:39):
about a Seahawks victory. This has been Hawk talk. He's
Michael Bumbas on Masa Troby. Until next time.
