Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
Michael Bumpus. Play fake, go to roll right, jumps it
off into the right flass to Michael Bumpers, who bounces
off a one tackler gets inside the forty down of
the thirty five yard line. Powered by Seahawks dot Com,
Matt pump fake's.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Looking at the gold line. He throws it into the
end zone. Touchdown. Say Hawks, it's Michael.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Bumpas with a diving catching the end zone on ten
yard touchdown reception for Bumpers, and the kid out of
Washington State has found himself a.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Place on this team.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Now, here's your host, Nasa Chovie.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk, getting you ready
for the Seahawks Week eight matchup taken on these Buffalo
Bills at Luminfield this Sunday.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Bump. Before we get into all of it, trade alert
breaking news, boom boom bow. Let's get it now, this
is huge.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Seahawks agree to trade Jerome Baker to Tennessee for draft compensation,
bringing in exchange for Ernest Jones, the fourth twenty twenty
one third round pick. Jones Spanish firstseason with the Rams
so Seahawks fans should be pretty familiar with him out
there was traded to Tennessee prior to the start of
this season. Jones took over the starting job midway through
his rookie year, started seven games and started eleven games
(01:11):
in twenty twenty two, and then fifteen games last season.
During the twenty twenty three season, his first is an
everydawn linebacker. Jones recorded to Rams franchise record one hundred
and forty five tackles, four and a half sacks, six
passes defended, fourteen tackles for loss in six quarterback hits.
Bump sad to see Baker go, but I am incredibly
excited about Ernest Jones.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
What have you seen from him on film? Yeah, I'm
hip man, you know.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
I was watching the film on on Ernest, and the
first thing got noticed was just the violence he attacks
these guards trying to climb.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Up to his second level.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
So it made me go and look at Bakers as
height and weight, and I'm like, man, he seems so
much bigger than Baker.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
They're almost the exact same size.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
It's just it's a different, this different type of approach
when it comes to Earnest Man long arms plays with
some balance to him.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
He's good at diagnosing the plays too.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
There are a lot of times with this defense where
I felt like guys were waiting to be one hundred
percent sure they knew what they were looking at before
they wouldn't made the play. You look at Ernest, he's
sniffing it out. Oh, guard's pulling there. Bam, I see
the mesh.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Bam.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
I'm shooting my gap right now. So he seems like
just a savvy football player, a violent football player. You
lose a little bit in coverage, but not not too much.
I think he can still drop back and cover. And Yeah,
this is what this defense needed. You needed some violence
on that second level. With that D line getting healthy,
You're throwing a little Ernest Jones in that thing.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
It looks pretty good so far.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
No, I feel good about it too, And I really
feel good about is he played in a similar system.
I'm not going to say it's exact same. I'm not
in the meeting rooms there, but their defensive coordinator was
a dB coach with McDonald and Baltimore, so at least
it's not being dropped into something completely different and all
that stuff.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
So I'm excited to see him on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
You know, you know who he played last week, the
Buffalo fill so he going back to back on him.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Come on now, let's go. Hey, that's gotta be dope.
You're like, okay, I know who they are and their
checks are. And he's got some insight because he can
be like, no, this is what they actually did on
that field, So no, it should be should be fine.
I'm really excited to watch number thirteen, Ernest Jones, the
fourth this week as the Seahawks get ready to take
on the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
What's on tap?
Speaker 1 (03:12):
What's on tap?
Speaker 3 (03:13):
These Bills are five into first place in the AFC
East with wins over the Cardinals, Dolphins, Jaguars, Jets, and Titans.
Losses to the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans. Now
bump this Buffalo team similar to other teams we've talked about.
They're off the a great starrty. They're in first place.
They've won this division four years in a row heading
into twenty twenty four. That's crazy, so much success, but
(03:35):
with great success comes all the expectations.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Right.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
They've lost in a division round of the playoffs last
three seasons after reaching the AFC title Game in twenty twenty.
They've also had their season end at the hands of
Patrick Mahomes and you can't see the Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
Three of the last four postseason everybody an AFCN then
lost to Pat Mahomes.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Yeah, you know what I mean, So that there's no
shame in that, but like it sucks if you're a
diehard Bills fan or whatever. The regular season matters, but
it also doesn't because you're like, Okay, well what are
we gonna do in January? Which is a rough way
to live, in a good way to live because you
have expectations. That's good anyway. So they're a good team,
but you know, they make a huge trade. They're bringing
(04:10):
to Marii Cooper, so Von Diggs and with them anymore so,
and he made his first debut this weekend, Mark Cooper
did against Tennessee Bump.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Yeah, Amari Cooper scored a touch and I believe only
had what eighteen players or something like that. So they're
still they're bringing them in slowly, but they that's what
you do with ballers. So you put them in the
red zone, you put them in the slot. He's looking
at ke On Coleman saying make sure I'm doing the
right thing.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
He runs a little pulling a little post and you.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Get it to him. So no, it's a good replacement.
It's as good as it could get at this time
of the year because on no other baller receiver was
being moved. You went to one of the worst teams
with the worst situation, you got their best receiver, and
Amari Cooper's shown that he still got some ball left
in them.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Yeah, no question about it. So he'll definitely be a
bigger part of the offense this week. We'll talk about
a little bit later in matchups. But last weekends those Titans,
the Bills overcame a slow start and beat the Titans
convincingly thirty four to ten at home. The Titans were
down their starting quarterback, with Levis turned the former Steelers
quarterback Mason Rudolph. He had the Titans out to a
ten on lead, but then after a little bit it
(05:10):
was all Bills. Man thirty four unanswered points and scored
on every single drive of the second half.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
Man Bills were looking good. Josh Allen celebrated his one
hundredth career start. Dang already, I know, Dann his twenty
six three hundred yard outing while finishing twenty one of
thirty three for three hundred twenty three yards and two touchdowns.
He improved to sixty eight and thirty two as a starter,
matching four players Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, Brett Farv and
Aaron Rodgers for six most wins and in quarterbacks first
(05:37):
one hundred starts. Andy's taking care of the rock. We'll
get into that later, but Josh Allen playing some good football.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
That's a good list to be on with those dudes
anytime you're on it. We mentioned Cooper four catches, six
six yards, one touchdown and eighteen offensive steps. Keon Coleman
aside a big day four receptions one hundred and twenty
five yards, Titans continued their free fall dropping.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Sorry Helmus laugh at there was spectful.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
No, no, I didn't mean to be respectful, but I'm
just looking at the numbers. Dropping the one to five
the worst started the season since twenty fifteen. At one
and six. They have failed the top seventeen points for
the fifth time had their season. Holy smokes, it felt
different when I was in Tennessee. I'm like, this guy
got some thumpers. Yeah, some playmakers hasn't gone that well
for them. Anywan bumb looking at his head to head,
(06:22):
what stands out between the Seahawks and the Bills?
Speaker 4 (06:24):
Man, The numbers are lying to me right now, because
you look at the numbers for the Bills, and as
the kids would say, they look very mid.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Okay, the numbers are mid.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
Offensively, they're eighteenth running the rock, nineteen passing the ball.
Eighteen points per game is where they stand out a bit.
They're fifth, averaging twenty eight points per game. So that
just tells me they're fishing in the red zone, they're
getting the red zone, and they're scoring. Total defense their
twentieth against the run, theer twentieth against the pass or
seventeen points allowed. Boom, This is where pops a little bit,
all right, their eighth allowing nineteen points per game. So
(06:57):
it's like the big picture, it looks a little cloudy,
but when you narrow in on how much they're scoring
and how much they're they're not letting their opponents score,
that's where it pops a little bit. So for the
for the Seahawks or eighth overall, twenty seventh running the rock,
the best passing game in the League get them and
their eighth when it comes to scoring points. Defensively the
twenty first overall, twenty eighth against the run, thirteenth against
(07:20):
the pass in nineteenth when it comes to allowing points,
twenty three point four.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
But I looked at this and I was trying to
find the status, like, how are they five and two right?
Why does it seem like they're way better than they
ar I'm looking at the numbers. Doesn't make sense. Here's
what does it?
Speaker 2 (07:37):
I know where it is.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Turnover differential Bills are plus ten number one in the
National Football League. The Seahawks are minus three, tied for
twenty first, And that's what it is. They take care
of the ball. They're good in the ren zone, and
it shows because if you had all those numbers, these
are numbers of a team that's three and three or
you know what I mean, four and three, three and four,
something like that. So it's about turnovers, it seems like
(07:59):
with this team. So the Seahawks definitely gonna want to
change that a little bit. They're coming off a big
game a lot of takeaways, so hopefully that trend will
continue moving forward. But these teams, they don't play as
off and they're more about every four years out there
in the AFC East.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
Let's know the history, No your history.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Seahawks lead the all time series eight to six, including
two and two in their last four matchups. The Seahawks
last played the Bills in that twenty twenty COVID season
lose into the Bills forty four to thirty four. That
game really wasn't that close, and it was really kind
of the end of all the Russ.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Let Russ Cook stuff.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Yeah, yeah, because after that game, I feel like Pete
kind of reeled everything in. They went on to win,
go six and two and win the division all that stuff,
but like letting Russell throw it sixty times a game
and all that stuff kind of calmed down after this game.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Bills jumped out to a fourteen to nothing lead at
the end of the first quarter. They're up ten at
a halftime.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
Seahawks will make it a one score game in twenty
seven to twenty in the fourth quarter, but the Bills
will score fourteen straight points put that game out of reach.
Josh Allen had a big day thirty one into thirty eight,
four hundred and fifteen yards and three touchdowns. Stefon Diggs
at all receivers nine receptions, win, eighteen to one touchdown
for the Hawks. Russell had a good day twenty eight
to forty one stat wise, three hundred ninety yards, two touchdowns,
(09:14):
but he also had two picks and two fumbles loss.
We turned the ball with four times and that was that.
Seahawks went up to Buffalo. They took that l but
like I said, they would go six and two the
rest of away win the Nantcy West title. Won't talk
about what happened after that. And yeah, but the only
thing real quick bumpball say before we get to us
the word Jared Reid is the only person still on
the Seahawks defense from that day.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
And he made his way back and he left and
came back.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
When you think about the names on the defense, Quintin Dunbar,
DJ Reed, Trey Flowers, Carlos Dunlap, Jamal Adams, Quandre, LJ. Collyer, Pooniford,
kJ Wright, Jordan Brooks Wags, it feels like it's a
long time ago but also suit recent because I'm like,
I mean, some of these guys, but dang man.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Time, Jamal Quandre, DJ Reed, big up, DJ Reid balling
over there with the Jets man Trey Flowers ended up
playing in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
Carlos Dunlap is still out there flowing.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
Yeah, it's a team looks a bit different than back
in the twenty twenty for show.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
And shouted to Carlos because he finally got his ring,
went out to k C and got that.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Oh yeah, yeah, you're right. Carlos still was a great dude.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
Anyway, Le's get back into what's going on in the division.
What's the word and the Seahawks or the NFC West
champs again.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
What's the word in the West?
Speaker 1 (10:30):
On Hawk talk.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
Seahawks back in first place in the NFC West. They
are four and three, the Niners three and four, having
a bunch of injury issues over there. The Cardinals are
two and four, and the Rams are looking like they're
trying to rebuild over there, and they are two and four.
Let's focus on the game of the week. I was
looking at this game, you know what, and I thought
the Niners were gonna get this one. Now remember that,
(10:52):
and you and you the positive guy that you are,
He said, Nah, Chiefs got this and that's what happened.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
It was. It was a good game.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Man.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
If you just looked at the stat line for Mahomes, man,
you might think the forty nine Ers came out on top.
Mahomes had an alright day. He's been having an alright year. Honestly,
he's been.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
He's been. He's a mediocre man.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
He was sixteen to twenty seven four one hundred and
fifty four yards, no touchdown and two interceptions. The Niners
were dominant running that thing one hundred and eighty four
yards on the ground. The biggest storyline was Brock Party's afternoon.
He was seventeen or thirty one, two hundred and twelve yards,
no touchdown in three interceptions. The most costly interception came
midway through the fourth quarter with the forty nine Ers
(11:31):
trailing twenty one to twelve. After a long drive, the
Niners face third in goal from the Kansas City five
yard line. Party tried to force it to Chris Connolly
and it was picked off. Tough day for Party man.
He's gonna have to start elevating guys man. Yeah, he's
got to be that dude.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
I don't want to judge him off of a couple
of games, because we watched him here in Seattle and
he was pretty dang good. But yeah, it's different, bump
when you're gonna have to be the dude rand if
you have so many all pros all.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Round, but a lot is gonna fall on his play. Yeah,
he's he's got to step it up, man.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
He did.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
He did have two rushing touchdowns though, so it wasn't
all bad. The Chiefs took advantage with a game selling
drive going twelve plays eighty yards, ending with a Micole
Harmon eighteen yard touchdown that made the score twenty eight
to twelve. The Niners will score touchdown late, but it
was too late for for that squad. The Chiefs won
twenty eight to eight. Team Mason had fifty eight yards
(12:23):
on fourteen carries. Adding insult to injury, Deebo Samuel only
played four snaps as he's.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Dealing with a form of pneumonia. Man. That's uh.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
When the rains and poor is over there for the Niners,
but these guys are gonna get healthy. Worst news all
you is done for the year. This is why you
hold out and get paid. I know I made fun
of buy. You can say, go to practice, man, but
this is why you hold out because things happen and
you want to make sure you're paid. So you got
his money and they got a few games out of him,
and now he's out for the season. They're banged up.
(12:51):
We'll see what was available when they play the Seahawks
later on this season.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Yeah, it's gonna be Yeah, it's hard. I don't want
to get ahead, obviously, we're talking about the Bills, right, No, right,
but me and you can get ahead, we can do that.
This is a time to get San Francisco. This is
absolutely the time. I don't know another time or they're
going to be down. And we'll talk about this a
lot in the coming weeks. The Seahawks for the first time,
and god knows how long, have a by heading into
(13:15):
that game, and the Niners were playing the week before,
so my first time, the Seahawks really have an advantage.
So we'll see what happens over the next couple of weeks.
But that could be a huge game in the Seahawks
come off of bye Niners hosting the Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
I'm really intrigued about.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
That because, my goodness, the sky's already fallen in Dallas,
that's already fallen.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
I mean, they might revive their season.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
I mean, it's a big game because either way, I
would love to listen to talk radio in either city,
and I might just do it because that's the kind
of person I am.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Anyway.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
Other games in the NFC West Raiders were at the Rams.
Rams got back on track after two consecutive losses. Beating
the Raiders twenty to fifteen. Wasn't in a great football game.
Rams forced four turnovers, including a scoop and score touchdown,
which was the deciding factor in the game. Bad luck
for the Raiders they all starting quarterback eight on the
second series of the game. Your guy Gardner Minshew, of
course back in the duty. Things that go very well.
(14:05):
Fifteen to thirty four, one to fifty four, zero touchdowns,
three interceptions. Also was the one he wasn't ready. He
wasn't ready responsible for four turnovers, So yeah, go kooks
to for your guy Gardner. On the flip side, Matthew
Stafford also wasn't that great. Fourteen to twenty three, one
to fifty four, zero touchdowns, went interception. That was Stafford's
lowest passer rating in four years he's been with the Rams.
(14:28):
But they did run the ball effectively seventy six yards
on twenty one carries, two touchdowns for Kyron Williams. Raiders
did make it close late, pulling within five points, but
they would get the ball back down five one to
forty left unfortunate for them. Three plays later, Gardner Minshew
turned the ball over again and that was all she wrote.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Anyway.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
The Ray Rams trying to stay relevant again. We know
that game in two weeks is going to be tough,
so it'll be interesting. But the Rams get it done.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Yeah, good for them. Let's move on going.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
But Cardinals, oh, I still I don't know what this
team is, man, but they found a way to get
a win. You see the numbers of that dual cast
Monday Night Football, Only like a million five people watched
the Chargers game.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
ESPN ain't gonna let y'all know that though. That's why
you shouldn't do it.
Speaker 4 (15:15):
If you're gonna have two games, play one early, play
one late, and come on, I want to watch both
of them.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Come on you.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Kyler Murray made to play the game the way forty
four yard touchdown run down the sideline that gave him
the lead in the fourth quarter, and then he was
clowning too. He gave a burst for about fifteen twenty
yards and then eased off the guess that's howe what.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Time he's done.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
It's disrespectful with this, The Chargers would add two field
goals and take the lead fifteen to fourteen with a
minute forty five remaining in the game. Then Murray would
leave the Cardinals on a seven play fifty six yard drive,
setting up the game winning field goal that Chad Ryland
that was set up by a thirty three yard pass
and run by James Carter. He finished the day with
(15:55):
nineteen carres one hundred and one yards two receptions for
fifty one yards. Kyler Murray was fourteen of twenty six,
one five, one touchdown, one intercession. He also added sixty
four yards on six carries and a touchdown. It was
a frustrated night for the Chargers offense man they gained
three to ninety five yards but couldn't find the end zone.
Justin Herbert completed twenty seven to thirty nine of his
(16:17):
passes for three forty nine. His coach Jim Harball's first
loss on Monday night, dropping him to six and one. Dang,
I didn't realize he was that dominant On Monday night.
Dicker booted field goals fifty nine to fifty, twenty eight,
forty seven, forty too many got to score touchdowns. You
don't want your kicker, you know, lining up and kicking
that many times. So Los Angeles has gone sixteen consecutive
(16:39):
offensive drives without a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
That is tough.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
The Cardinals continue to be one of the most confusing
teams in all the LAMB and the Chargers are still
trying to figure out how to win ball games.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
Yeah, man, I again, week to week by week, we
don't know what Cardinals team is gonna They get bigger,
blow you out, they can get blown out, they can
go up and down. It's hard to tell. The one
thing we do know Kyler Murray's health of an athlete.
He's gonna make plays, so we'll see there. But let's
get back into these Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Man ups, man up on Hawk Talk.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
The guy that's gonna get a lot of attention throughout
the week as leading to this game is the quarterback
Josh Allen taking on the Seahawks defense. And for me,
Bum making no mistake about it, Josh Allen is one
of the most elite quarterbacks in the National Football League.
He's now in his seventh season Josh Allen's two time
pro bowler, finished in top five in MVP voting three
two of the last three seasons. Josh Allen's really helped
(17:40):
the Bills become relevanting because they were a doormat for
a long time, and he's led the Bills to the
playoffs in five to six seasons. Prior to that, the
Bills have been in the playoffs just one time in
eighteen years.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Business gracious, but.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
There's always been one knock on Josh Allen. Turnovers turns
him over like crazy, Josh Allen. He has seventy eight
career interceptions. He threw a career high eighteen of them
things last year eighteen one eight. But this year he's
figured it out. He's talked to the turnover Jesus whatever
it reprais to He's thrown zero interceptions.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
It's impressive. Now, bum I would take credit for this
stat like it was on me. Okay, it was not me.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Shout out John Boyle slash. I think the Bill's senior
writer over there. But since twenty twenty, the Bills are
now twenty and one in averaging thirty four points per
game when Josh Allen has zero giveaways. So that's interceptions,
the fumbles. Their only loss was earlier this year against Houston.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
It's impressive. So I think we should try to take
the ball away. Yeah, you good on that. That's a
good formula. Always take the ball away.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
And you know what, it was a while before last
week before we saw some legit takeaways by this defense.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
So get her done against Josh Allen in the Gang.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Well, and the other thing about Josh two, he was
second player in the NFL history record at least twelve
touchdown passes and no interceptions first seven games running Alix
Smith two hundred and eighty six consecutive attempts without an
interception dating back to last season, as long as of
his career longings in Bill's history. He's got fourteen hundred
yards on the season, twelve touchdowns, no picks. He's only
been sacked nine times, man nine.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
It's tough.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
Well, last week it was the same story, right, Yeah,
and did a good job protecting Kirk.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
So you know those numbers mean nothing to me.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
Yet they do though, remember last year Jared Goff came
in throwing how many passes without without a pick? Brown
pick six? So let's uh, let's let's get that going.
Let's talk about our guy, Geno smith Man. He was
on point last week. You can look at his numbers
and not be impressed, but if you watch the game,
you understand what I'm talking about. He was eighteen of
(19:44):
twenty eight twenty seven yards, two touchdowns and no interception.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
QB rating of one to ten.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
It was the highest of the season, first time Geno
Smith was under thirty attempts since Week one against Denver.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
You love that. Fifty is too much, forty is too much.
You gotta run that football.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
According to the NFL Next Gen stat Smith was pressured
on fifty percent of his drawbacks against Atlanta, the highest
pressure rate he has faced in a game. It didn't
feel like that because it didn't phase him. But it
didn't feel like that because of how good Gino is
exactly moving in that pocket, doing his thing when facing pressure.
Smith completed seven to thirteen attends for one hundred and
twenty three yards and two touchdowns. A good are good
(20:21):
for a one to twenty five point eight rating. Gino,
keep being a thing. I like what you're doing. Must
protect him a little bit more. Through seven weeks, he
is first in passing yards six in completion percentage, first
in completions, first.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
In attempts, and tenth.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
When it comes to qb are, Gino has to Seahawks
as the number one passing attack in the NFL, averaging
two hundred and seventy yards per game. Come on out, Grub,
And you know when I think of Gino, I think
of Grub too.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
Man.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
I know Geno's on the on the field making things happen,
but you know you got to give Grub some love too, no.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
Question about it.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
And taking on this Bills defense twenty eth and total
defense seventeen against the past eight eight in points per game,
so well, interesting to see. Von Miller is also not
going to play, dealing with his last of his four
game suspension, so we we'll see what Gino can cook
up against these guys. Speaking of Cook, we'll go over
to the running backs for the Buffalo Bills, James Cook.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Ray Davis. I know it's too bad, James. The spot right.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Bill's rushing attacks led by third year player James Cook.
As I mentioned, Cook is a former teammate of Kenny
McIntosh down at Georgia, member of that twenty twenty one
national championship team and in college Cooke didn't put up
amazing numbers, but it's because they had three NFL players
in their backfields a mere white Kenny mctosh himself. That
didn't stop him from getting drafted in the second round
of the Bills. During his rookie season, he played in
(21:39):
every game and rushed for five hundred and seven yards
two touchdowns, but split time with running back Devin Singletary.
Singletary got out of there and that's when he really
established himself, going for over one thousand yards last year,
two touchdowns, forty four receptions four hundred and forty five
yards in four touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Those numbers earned him a Pro Bowl nod.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
So far the season, a little off that pace, he's
got eight to two carries three hundred and forty one
yards to five touchdowns. Also has eleven receptions one hundred
and twenty three yards in one touchdown. His other running
back mate out of Kentucky, Ray Davis, he spent time
in Temple Vandy, Kentucky and College ran for a thousand
yards his last two seasons down there. So far, he's
got fifty one carries two hundred and thirteen yards in
(22:19):
two touchdowns. The Bills do not have a dominant run
game bump. They're nineteenth in the NFL, averaging one hundred
and sixten yards per game. So I want this to
be the game where the Seahawks shut it down, lock
it down, straight up, start to finish. Seahawks built off
a good second half last week, so we'll see they
can do moving forward.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
Guys are getting healthy. I'm saying that box is looking
good right now. All right, let's look at the pass catchers.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
Man.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
You got Keon Coleman, great athlete, you've seen him, Dounel
with basketball, a man three to sixty through the legs,
great athlete, Khalil Shakir. You got the tight end, Dalton
Concaid kink excuse me. And then Amari Cooper the new addition.
They got a big lift with Amari Cooper. Cooper has
a He's had a really good career and it didn't
(23:02):
look too good over there in Cleveland. And there's a
lot of reasons why. All right, and we're not going
to get into it. Y'all use your imagination, Google Cleveland
Browns and some reading. Yeah, I'm sure some things will
let you know. Uh, he's now in his tenth season. Man,
and when he's with his fourth team. He's gone over
one thousand yards seven of his last nine full season
in NFL. He's a five time Pro Bowler, including last season.
(23:24):
So when I see a guy have a horrible season
in the year before he was bawling, I don't I
don't just assume that he's done.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
I assume some some things were happening over there.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
In twenty twenty three, he had seventy two receptions twelve
hundred yards and five touchdowns and seven games with the
Browns twenty eight receptions for three hundred and sixteen yards
and three touchdowns. His catch percentage is forty five percent
over there in Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
That's the one that jumps out because the three hundred
yards and a couple of touchdowns, you're like, that's okay,
But the catch.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
Percentages crazy forty five yards.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
So in one game he had four receptions for sixty
six yards on eighteen snaps, he had a touchdown. And
then the leading receips is the young man Keon Coleman
out of Florida State. He's known for his personality. He's
already making money. I forgot saw the commercial bookt or
something like bookings dot Com or something like that.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
Get your money, young fella, get your money.
Speaker 4 (24:13):
He's coming off the best game of his career so
far gets the Titans. He has seven receptions for one
twenty five so far this year, sixteen receptions for three
twenty six and two touchdowns. Kalosha Cure he's another impact
player for the Bills. A third year player out of
Boise State, has a team leading twenty seven receptions, three
into fourteen yards and two touchdowns. Did you know you
(24:33):
have to say Boise or they would get mad you
It's not Boise, it's Bois Bois Boise.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
I was never said that I was down in Boise
and I said that he knows like it's Boise, all right?
My bad? Is that what Chris Peter? I don't feel
like he'd be saying that. I don't know, but he's
a guy. Father thought him. Do whatever you put me
on game. Next time I'm down in Boise, you go.
You might get a free drink. He said it right. Lastly,
he's not a receiver, but you got Dalton kink Man.
Speaker 4 (24:59):
He's a good tight end at a Utah playing the
Rolls Bowl in twenty twenty two. Last year, he was
the team's third leading receiver six hundred and seventy three
yards with seventy three receptions and two touchdowns so far
this year twenty four receptions, two sixty nine and one touchdown.
The Hawks are thirteenth in the NFL against the pass,
allowing one ninety seven per game. Hey, lock up the run,
(25:22):
lock up the pass. Make Josh Allen have to do everything.
I like that formula.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
Yeah, keep everything in front of Marie Cooper. Obviously, I
think he's rejuvenated.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
He's in a place.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
You go from where he was at to playing with
Josh Allen and the Bills competing for a Super Bowl. Yeah,
I mean that's a pretty good start. So I expect
him to be a lot more involved in the offense.
It's going to be a tough task, but I think
the Seahawks are game for it. I'm hoping depending on
what the injury situation is with Riek One and Trey Brown.
We saw some good things from Eamai Pritchett. We saw
Josh Joe make some plays, So I think the Seahawks
(25:51):
will be in good hands in the secondary. But it'll
be a fun matchup. Now, let's look at our receivers.
The DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Jackson Smith and Jig but
taking on this Bill's secondary. DK Metcalf. He had a
huge bounce back game against the Falcons with four receptions
ninety nine yards.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
I wanted that one hundred yards for him so bad. Oh,
I wanted it so bad for him. Man, two huge receptions.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
One saves his boy JSN from a he he snatched
the interception from them. Dude, like a job. I mean,
we talked about it in the recap. Receivers are going
to throw that there.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
You you call a double pass. That receiver's letting it
go and like this is wives was great. Thank god.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
DK Metcalf is out of this world athlete to be
able to butt out. Made it nice play there and
right before halftime the Seahawks, I know, almost slip right there.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
That was tough.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Right before half time, he had a huge catch in
the end zone from Geno Smith DK In the NFL,
he ranks third in the entire NFL five hundred and
sixty eight receiving yards sixteen point two yards perception is
fourth in the NFL. Fortunate for the Hawks, you can
mecalf status for this week is uncertain with that knee injury.
He's got a minor MCL said the CO which timeline
(27:00):
is not sure, not long term, which is good. So
prayers up to DK hopefully can get back out there
this week. But if he cannot, where's the slacking and
go chocking Smooth and Jigba Definitely someone for me to
watch this weekend. DK can't play after he had that
really breakout game in Week two against Patriots, kind of
flashed what he can do and why he was drafted here.
That day he had twelve receptions one hundred and seventeen yards.
(27:22):
It seemed like Ryan Grubb made a really concerted effort
early on in that game to get him the football.
Since then, he's been pretty quiet. He hasn't had a
game with more than fifty three receiving yards. Not that
he's played bad by any stretch of just how the
cookie crumbles as a receiver. So if something, keep an
eye for the Sunday, especially if DK can't play, And
then you got obviously the og Tyle Lockett on the air.
Locket's got thirty receptions three eighty four, one touchdown. Jackson
(27:45):
has thirty seven receptions three nineteen in a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
The Bills.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
Again, we talked about earlier average and most stats defensively
seventeenth in the NFL and comes to the pass, giving
up two hundred and nine yards per game. But one
nice thing though, it's cool. We'll give a little shout
out to Demor Hamlin. He's leading the Bills with two interceptions,
and between him and JaMarcus Ingram they have nine passes
defendant combined. But really cool to see him out there,
and we're talking about his play and now it happened
(28:09):
last year, so obviously, big upster tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
He's a starter now.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
Man.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
Last year when that whole thing went down, he was
a special teams guy. So big us to tomorrow for
doing this thing.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Man.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
Happy to see him make plays.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
All right, let's talk about these rbs RB's against the
Bills front seven. The Seahawks running game took some strides
last week. They ran four hundred and three yards on
twenty six carries. I believe ken Walker. If ken Walker,
he's probably more involved in a game if he's not sick.
And even though he was sick, he still has some
exciting plays. If he's not going to get a lot
(28:41):
of yards, just give me the touchdowns. And that's what
he did. Last week, despite being sick, Walker had sixty
nine rushing yards and fourteen attempts, including a twenty yard
touchdown to the right side behind two rookies Chris Haynes
and Michael Drell also had another touchdown to gated by Hole.
The Seahawks are still looking for their first one hundred
yard rush since Ken Walker in the Week one against
(29:02):
the Broncos.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
It's gonna change this week.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
On the year, k nine sixty five carries, three hundred
and three yards, six touchdowns, twenty three receptions four hundred
to sixty yards in one touchdown, and he's done that
while missing two games. Zach Charbadae has fifty seven carries
for two hundred and six yards and three touchdowns. This
will be another great opportunity to get the run game
going against the average Bills defense. That's weird to say,
the average Bills defense. For years, they've been one of
(29:27):
the best defense in the game.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
Yeah, and obviously this ye still got to come out
their next que They're not gonna come up to Seattle
on laydown, but their twenty against the run, so we'll
see what happens. But as we put a bone in
this thing. I'll tell you how the seahus and get
a victory. Path to victory.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
After forty five waits for the snat, Michael Victon puts
it down. That kick is away. If that kick is gone,
good day off.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
When it's gone, it's a path to victory.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
On Hawk Talk Bump, another huge opportunity for the Seahawks
to take advantage atop the AFC West and extend that lead.
Who knows what's gonna happen in the forty nine ers
this week in Dallas, but the Seahws got to regain
home field advantage. They started off the season good, have
dropped the last two at home and when need to
get that fixed. And then another one for me up
top is starting fast. It is so much easier to
(30:14):
play when you have the lead. Obviously, I'm not breaking,
I'm not making any am I going out on a
limb in any hot takes here, but it's just so
much easier to play that way. So if the Seahows
can start fast, you can definitely see opening everything up
offensive defense.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
So looking forward to that.
Speaker 4 (30:28):
Man, I looked in the media, guy that you give us,
and I believe since twenty ten my numbers might not
be completely accurate, but I'm close.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
They're ninety and like nineteen when they win.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
The turnover battle, So it's twenty ten all right, So
let's take care of the football. You need another day
of turnover free football, and you snatch it from the Bills.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Man.
Speaker 4 (30:46):
The Bills had the league's best turnover differential for a reason.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
Turnovers have been huge for them.
Speaker 4 (30:52):
I believe they have seven interceptions and five fumbles recovered.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
They lost two fumbles, no interceptions.
Speaker 4 (30:58):
So that's that's where you get that numb the play
plus ten plus ten and you need to unlock the
run game it started last week.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
Let's see it come home here to Seattle. Yep. Absolutely
definitely need that run game going.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
And defensively, like we talked about, turnovers gonna be big
aspect of this game. It's gonna be tall tasks, right,
Josh hasn't done it. When you look through some of
the numbers and some of the film, he has had
some throws that could have been intercepted. Yeah, just like
I think he said that. Yeah, yeah, I think there's
definitely a couple different ones. So you got lucked lucked
out there. So let's be let's be that person that
takes the football away. When you're in the right spot,
(31:30):
good things happen. So hopefully this week this he also
get that done and bump though it's America's Game of
the Week.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
Dog.
Speaker 4 (31:36):
Oh, I didn't know that America's Game of the Week.
Tom Brady on Tom, I'm going in the booth, but
are you.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
I don't know. I almost rubed elubles with Tom in Germany.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
Yeah, we remember, we did our postgame show kind of
like outside in the locker room area. Well, Tampa was
right on the other side of that, and then there
were some there was just a lot of money in
the middle.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
I couldn't get close enough.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
I was just kind of walking by doing a little job,
and a bunch of big, famous soccer dudes we're talking
to him.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
So I was like, oh what. But I looked over.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
I was like, wow, that's so much more money than
I'll say anyway, But maybe you'll pull up.
Speaker 4 (32:12):
We'll see if the door's open and there's no security,
I'm walking through the door.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
Oh goodness, No one's listening to this. No, but for real, though,
the Game of the Week. The reason I bring that
up is because there's gonna be a lot of eyeballs
on the set. The Seahawks have a really good opportunity
to show what Mike McDonald and company have been building
here and.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
I can't wait to see it. Yeah, man, let's get it.
Come on, need it, Come on Hawks.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
The Seahawks pre game show will begin at ten am
on Sunday. Seahawks taking on those Bills kick off at
one oh five. Reminder you can catch us everywhere new
on YouTube, Seahawks Press Pass Channel, Apple Podcast, Spotify, Serious XM,
and more.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
Bump This has been fun.
Speaker 3 (32:49):
Hopefully we'll be talking about a Seahawks win over these
Bills come next week.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
He's Michael Bumpus On. That's Sjoeby. This has been Hawk Talk.
