Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
Michael Bumpus. Play fake going to roll right, jumps it
off into the right flass.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
To Michael Bumpers, who bounce us off of one tackler
gets inside the forty down of the thirty five yard line.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Powered by seahawks dot Com. Matt Pumpfake's looking at the
gold line.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
He throws it into the m zone.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Touchdown. Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching
the end zone.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
A ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpus, and the kid
out of Washington State has found himself a place on
this team.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Now, here's your host, Nasa Choviie.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk, the Seahawks getting
ready to take on the division rival Los Angeles Rams.
We are broadcasting live from the Seahawks Podcast Studio, presented
by Sony, the official headphones partner of the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
Bump sponsor sponsor. Now, yeah, let's go, Mama. We made it.
We're big time now, big time money. We'll be doing
it for like five years or something, but we got
it big. He's gotta be patient always, you know. I'm
persistent per system is right, just like the seehow's got
to be this week because we got to get over
what happening. It's Buffalo, it's been flushed, It's Thursday. Talked
(01:07):
about it. I had to hash it up by myself, solo. Man,
I'm sorry, you good.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
I know it's true. Bump didn't just flake on me.
But you know I still do it by myself. And
I had to suffered through that, and so did everybody else.
But Bump is back. We're getting ready to break down
these division rival Los Angeles Rams.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
What's on tap?
Speaker 1 (01:27):
What's on tap?
Speaker 2 (01:29):
But Los Angeles Rams three and four last place in
the NFC West, but they really more like a half
game out.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
It's not even really last place. They just chilling right now,
you know the chilling. They send one less game than
the rest of us.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
They did lose a tough one of the Detroit Lions,
which you know is a good team. They got beat
down by the Cardinals forty one to ten. That's the
one that's interesting on the schedule. They beat the forty
nine Ers. Another interesting one lost to the Bears, lost
to the Packers two game winning streak, beating the Raiders
and the Titans as of late bump, and we've played
the game and we've fallen for the Rams trapped before,
(02:02):
not doing it.
Speaker 5 (02:03):
This time, not at all. Respect him.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Last year the Rams, where I believe, were three and
six before they played the Seahawks down in LA.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
And JB.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Long, who's the voice of the Rams, their play by
play guy. He does a great job, joins our pre
and post game show every year or every game we
play him and he wrote an article that week about
how the Rams still had a shot to get to
the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
It was crazy we.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Read that, where like, come on, man, he like his
first lines are like, I understand if you're not into
all this like optimism or whatever, but here's the real path.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
And we laughed.
Speaker 5 (02:32):
We did laugh at him.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
And I called a game with him, the Washington State
Santos a stay game this year, and I reminded him,
I go, we laughed at you, JB. And you were right.
So I've learned my lesson. I will not sleep on
any opponent. Well I don't, but I slept on their record.
Their record made me think there was no chance. But man,
you got to you gotta play every.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Game anyone you know, any team coached by Sean McVay.
Things are gonna happen. They're always going to be in it.
And what did you see from the game against the
Vikings last week? I saw an offense that was back.
I saw on offense. I was ready to go the Rams.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
They got a big lift all right heading into the
game because Cooper Cup and Pooking the cool They were back,
all right. They're both playing in their first game since
Week one, which is crazy week one, and they still
got to win against the Niners in week three. They
did it without those two, right, which was impressive. Now,
the game started off with a game. The first four
possessions of the game ended in the passing touchdowns for
both teams. Each drive will go at least eight plays
(03:26):
in exactly seventy yards.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
The last one of those touchdowns was when.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
Matthew Stafford connected with Cooper Cup for the seven yard touchdown.
Speaker 5 (03:34):
Time to score at fourteen a piece.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
After halftime, the Vikings would have to settle four field goals,
while the Rams scored back to back touchdowns, both to
DeMarcus Robinson that made the score twenty eight to twenty
with six minutes left in the game.
Speaker 5 (03:46):
That offense looks good on film right now.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Yeah, they're they're they're scary good man.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
I mean, when you add two of the game's best players, yeah,
Cooper cup and Nicole.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Robson, we already called it, Cooper Cooper, one of the
game's best.
Speaker 5 (03:59):
Were ready for that?
Speaker 2 (04:00):
No, no, no, no, I mean, like in a snapshot of
like right now. Obviously he's been hurt, but when healthy,
I could say he's in the conversations, become a triple
Crown guy out of nowhere.
Speaker 5 (04:09):
Yeah, you don't.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
I got to see it one more year though, but
I respect it. You know, there's me underestimated game, my bad,
he's you know, I like you, Cooper.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
But to finish out that game, bump both teams with
pun On the next two drives, Vikings get the ball
one forty six left down eight, Vikings are back up
to their own five yard line, incomplete passed, and Seam
Darnold gets sacked in the end zone for a safety
which ended the game.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Might have been one of the.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
Biggest misscalls I've ever heard, thinking that was A man's
neck doesn't just turn like that by itself.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
His helmet almost went all the way around his head.
Speaker 5 (04:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Now, they missed the call. That's not why they lost
the game, but they did anyway. Matthew Stafford finished the
day twenty five to thirty four, two seventy nine four touchdowns.
He only had three coming into that game. Kyra Williams
led all ball carriers twenty three carries ninety seven yards,
and then Pooka Acua and his return seven receptions one
hundred and six yards. Cooper Cup did his thing also
(05:00):
reception fifty one yards in a touchdown. And yeah, man,
so the Rams are kind of back yep bump when
you look at the head to head what jumps out here?
Speaker 4 (05:08):
I did this last week and I looked at the
numbers and I said, ah, the Bills, the numbers they're mid, right,
you know, you look at the total offense, they were mid.
I'm looking at the Rams there, twentieth overall total offense,
they're twenty first overall total defense, twenty sixth rushing the ball,
fourteenth pass, and twenty third when it comes to points score. Defensively,
they are twenty third against the run, sixteenth against the pass,
(05:29):
twenty second when it comes to points allowed. But they
did most of this without Puka and Cooper Cup and
Matthew Stafford is back in his zone. I'm watching the film.
He's holding the safeties, he's going through his progressions. He
looks good. For the Seahawks. They're ninth overall, twenty ninth
running the ball, the best pass game in the NFL
right now, thirteenth when it comes to scoring ports points defensively,
(05:51):
twenty second overall defense, twenty ninth against the run, thirteenth
against the pass, and nineteenth when it comes to points
per game.
Speaker 5 (05:59):
These numbers meaning to me, they mean nothing to me.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
You know why, I'm not gonna do that no more
because I also think that when the Hawks are running
the ball, well, they are explosive.
Speaker 5 (06:08):
Ken Walker is one of the more explosive players in
a game.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
So I'm gonna look at that twenty ninth and when
it comes to running the football, and I'm gonna say,
all right, I see it, I gotta respect it. But
they have top ten ability if they get things going.
And then as far as the rams, I've watched too
much film to look at these numbers and say these
are accurate.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
Yeah, man, fool me once. Shame on me, fool me
you know twice. Can't can't get.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
Full of can't get full of gives.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
You know what I'm saying, not gonna have it not here.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
The Rams are a good football team, despite what some
of the numbers say, and we know that. And let's
be real, if you're a Seahawk fan and you've watched
any of the games over the Rams over the last
you know, fifteen years, it doesn't matter who's a roster,
doesn't matter, who's coaching them, doesn't matter. They give the
Seahawks problems and they're gonna be tough out. So let's
look back at some of the history and know the history,
no your history. Seahawks leave the all time series twenty
(06:55):
seven or twenty six. Rams have the two to oo
edge in the playoffs. Seahawks are two and two in
their last four matchups and last year Bump, we alluded
to this game already. Seahawks fell seventeen to sixteen down
there in California, and that game is when you can
circle that cost the Seahawks the playoffs last season. A
lot of things changed after that, but that was the
game the Seahawks definitely could have had jumped out through
(07:16):
thirteen to nothing lead. We're still up sixteen to seven
heading into the fourth quarter. Gino, if you remember, missed
some time in that game. He hit Aaron donalds Helmot
had to come out. I think he messed up tweaked
his elbow. They would come back, make it a sixteen
to fourteen game. Drew Locks through an interception while Gina
was out. The Rams would then go on another field
goal drive fourteen play, seventy five yards to kick the
(07:37):
go ahead field goal. They were out seventeen sixteen. Seahawks
had the ball back again, thinking it was gonna be
one of those drives when Gino Smith does his magic,
had a huge completion of DK. You thought they were
gonna get there. Things kind of got discombobulated towards the
end of the drive. Had to settle for a fifty
five yard attempt by Jason Myers, which is in his
range he's made. We saw him make a fifty nine
yard earlier this year. Unfortunately that one was way off.
(07:58):
They didn't make it. Seahawks lose the game, and it
was a tough one. The Rams swept the season series
last year, which I don't think anyone saw coming. The
Seahawks swept them the season before, but you know it
seth Man I think the Rams. They're a pesky bunch,
they're well coached, and this is the game the Seahawks
got to have. So hopefully the history will change around
a little bit this weekend as we get ready for
the Rams.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
But let's take a look around the NFC West.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
What's the word and the Seahawks or the NFC West champs?
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Again, what's the word in the West? On hot Talk?
Speaker 4 (08:33):
The NFC West is a weird place right now. There's
a log gem, all right. You got the Cardinals form four,
Niners forum four, Hawks form four, and the Rams are
three and four. If the playoffs were to start today,
the Cardinals would be in first place because I had
to head win percentage over San Francisco and Seattle.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
That's crazy.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
At one point I was already just not even worried
about the Cardinals.
Speaker 5 (08:56):
But they find a way to stay in the fight.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
So but the division is But I know it feels
weird for the Hawks because they're not playing their best football,
but they are still in the fight, tied up at
first place.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
All right. Last week we had the car the Cowboys
at the forty nine ers.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
Remember watching this game, This game had was gonna tell
us a lot about what was going on, all right,
But it was much anticipated game between the two teams
and they both really needed to win. And the game
itself did not disappoint. It was full of momental swing
from both ends. The Cowboys jumped to a ten to
six lead at halftime after the forty nine ers offensive struggles.
It was tough got to settle for two field goals,
(09:32):
they punted twice and turned the ball over on downs.
In the second half, all changed as brock Perty led
three straight touchdown drives. He had a four yard touchdown
at Isaac Rindo, the running back who sealed the game
for the Niners here at two yard touchdown to George Kittle,
a two yard run by Party himself that made the
score twenty seven to ten heading into the fourth quarter.
(09:53):
But just when you thought the Cowboys were finished. They
always played well from behind. They're not a team that's
gonna jump out on you, right, but you thought they
were finished, they got quick score from Ceede Lamb, held
the Niners to a field goal, then marched down the
field in fifty three seconds, and Dak Prescott found Ceedee
Lamb again for another touchdown, making it a one score game.
With three minutes left, it's thirty to twenty four. The
Cowboys defense will get a stop and get the ball
(10:15):
back with just twenty seven seconds left, but the forty
nine defense would hold on, forcing a turnover on down
and on downs and ceiling.
Speaker 5 (10:22):
The football game.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
Rock Purdy finished a day eighteen to twenty six, two
sixty and one touchdown. The George Kittle went off six receptions,
one hundred and twenty eight yards one touchdown. Gorendo had
eighty five yards and a touchdown on fourteen carries for
the Cowboys. Dack was twenty five to thirty eight two
forty three, two touchdowns, two interceptions. Ceedee Lamb thirteen receptions,
one hundred and forty six yards and two touchdowns. The
(10:44):
Niners are off this week. They traveled to Tampa after
their vibe that.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
Was that was a big win. That was a big win.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
If the Cowboys won that game, I think Jerry feels
a bit better about the situation and you start to
build momentum the Niners man getting her done.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
Yeah, No, it was. It was a game.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Unfortunately, both teams couldn't lose. One had to win that one. Obviously,
I was rooting for who are you rooting for? Well, no,
rooting is an interesting word. I was hoping for. I
was rooting for the forty nine ers to lose.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
How about that?
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Yeah, that didn't happen. I'm they're a good football team.
That was a tough game that both teams really needed.
And now the Seahawks obviously aren't looking over the Rams,
but they have the forty nine ers after the bye,
so it'll be interesting to watch. You know, it's nice
if the Seahawks get the forty nine ers after being rested,
and they're gonna play the Tampa next week, so we'll
keep it posted a see what happen there. We're definitely
a big win for the Niners. Elsewhere in the division,
(11:33):
the Cardinals took on the Dolphins, and look at these Cardinals.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
You mentioned it, they've won three or four games.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Man, after beating the Dolphins, kind of spoiling to a
tongue of I Lowa's return.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
Hey big up to it?
Speaker 4 (11:42):
Oh yeah, man, he ran the ball and he slid
my man, oh and got up it pointed too talking
that to let.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Me tell you something, Man, I don't know what indie
period is like now in Miami.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
But that's all I'd be doing.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
I'm sliding, I'd be getting down all different kinds of scenarios.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Yeah, we just working on the slide.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
But no big ups to two because they they finally
kind of looked like a glimmer of what the Dolphins
were expected to be this year with him a quarterback.
Murray had a good game, let two scoring drives in
the fourth quarter to rolly the Cardinals from a nine
point deficit, and you know, they've won consecutive games for
the first time since twenty twenty one.
Speaker 5 (12:19):
I saw that. That's crazy.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
That's wild.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
And had a pair of one hundred yard receivers for
the first time since twenty twenty one, which was Aj
Green and Christian Kirk. Marvin Harrison had a nice game
one hundred eleven yards and a touchdown on six catches,
and then Trey McBride let the Cardinals with nine catches
one hundred twenty four yards. Murray finished today twenty six
of thirty six, three oh seven, two touchdowns. By Loach,
I mentioned Tua went twenty eight, not for twenty eight,
(12:43):
that's the typo. He did have two hundred and thirty
four yards and a touchdown. Cardinals man in first place.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
What is that Cardinals?
Speaker 4 (12:50):
You know, if they weren't in our division, i'd be
happy for him, but unfortunately they are in our division.
I can't be happy for him because there's been so
much going on with the Cardinals the past couple of years.
You know, Call of Duty six dropped the other day
and I was worried for Kyler Murray. Oh no, you know,
I'm taking it back to contract. I was worried for Coylin, like,
don't focus enough. But Marvin Harrison we knew coming out
of the draft he was the best receiver, the most polished,
(13:12):
ready to go. And then McBride the young man. I
believe it's a Colorado state. Believe good tight end man.
Tighten games have been stepping up as of late. I
just mentioned Brock Bauers is having a sneaky season for
the Raiders that no one's talking about. But tighten game
has been stepping up. Cardinals are real. Can't sleep on them.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Yeah, and they're They're the team that will do that
and get your hopes up feeling good about them, and
then they'll drop a game. So the Cardinals are definitely
a team to watch for. The Seahawks are getting ready
to play them in a couple of weeks, so we
will check in and see their reminder of broadcasting live
from the Seahawks Podcast Studio presented by Sony, the official
partner of the Seattle Seahawks. Let's get back into those
Los Angeles lams. Man Up, Man up.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
On Hawk Talk.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
We usually start with the quarterbacks bump. Today is gonna
be no different.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
We're looking at Matthew Stafford in this Seahawks defense. The
Seahawks continue their streak of facing pretty good quarterbacks. This
time is Matthew Stafford coming into town. Stafford's a guy,
been around the block.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Yeah, we know that.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
We've kind of talked about this a little bit on
the on the program. Stafford has some pretty damn good
career numbers. The tenth in NFL history the entire history
of the league when it comes to passing yards fifty
seven seven and eighteen three hundred and sixty four touchdown passes.
He needs three passing touchdowns to pass el Eli Manning
for tenth most in NFL history.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Only made it to two Pro Bowls.
Speaker 5 (14:34):
That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
I mean, you're in You're in Detroit for a long time.
Still put up numbers that did he did. But yeah,
I was shocked by seeing that. I figured to be
still six or seven or something like that. And this
year his numbers are down a little bit. But you
talked about it. Why is that when you have two
of your best weapons out Cup in Nakua, things are
not going to go your way. He did his best
to kind of stick in there. It just wasn't really working.
But now you know, after last week he's back on
(14:57):
twenty five to thirty four two seventy nine touchdowns. And
here's a crazy thing. But according to next Gen stats
here NFL faster, Stafford didn't throw a single incompletion to
the right side of the field, finishing eight for eight
with ninety four yards in two touchdowns. When targeting Cooper
Cup and Nikola, Stafford was twelve to seventeen one hundred
and fifty seven yards in one touchdown with one hundred
(15:18):
and nineteen passer rating.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
My man was efficient. I gotta confess. I used the
stat on our show today. I saw I opened up
the email, I looked at the sheet. I go, that
is a stat I need to use because there was
a great stat. Man he's efficient when he's throwing to
his dues. Whenever a man is in the NFL and
he has grays and his beard, you know he's around.
Speaker 5 (15:39):
Four reasons.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
You don't just have grazing a beard in the NFL
and be Okay. The NFL gets ridd of guys real quick.
And he's been hanging around. He's having a good season. Well,
he's starting to have a good season because he's got
his guys back.
Speaker 5 (15:52):
He's in rhythm. I watched film.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
That's the first thing I thought about when I watched film,
and how he's moving. He's in rhythm. He has guys
he can trust over there. Let's talk about it. Our quarterback,
Gino Gino, after having one of his better games of
the season against the Falcons.
Speaker 5 (16:06):
He worked well under pressure.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
I think going into that game he was a third
most pressured quarterback in the NFL. But he had an
ok They finished twenty one to twenty nine, two twelve,
zero touchdowns in one interception. He also let the team
in rushing, which is not good. And if you're going
to lead the team in Russian, let's have more than
sixteen yards. Okay, sixteen yards. He led the team in Russian.
But on the plus side, he still has led the
Seahawks to the number one passing game in the NFL
(16:29):
through eight weeks, number one and passing yards six when
it comes to completion percentage, first in completions, first in attempts.
He faced a defense who's getting healthier on defense too.
I believe they got a cornerback this week. They're twenty
first in total defense. I'm talking about the Rams sixteenth
against the pass, twenty second points per game, twenty eighth,
and when it comes to sacks. So there's opportunity there.
(16:52):
And we know how this this offense has to go.
You gotta run the football. But if Gino does not
have a Geno type of day, I'm talking like seventy
percent completion, two hundred fifty two touchdowns and maybe throw
an interception, things happen and they'll be in the mix.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Yeah, and we talked about a little bit before we
got going bump. You know, typically i'd be like Aaron
Donald versus our body. That's somebody I lock in. Thank
god he's retired. Hey go love it. No more nightmares.
You're thinking you're cool, No, hold on a minute, because
these guys get after him still. Ricky ed Rusher, Jared
Verse done a great job getting after the quarterback. He's
the second highest. He has the second highest pressure percentage
(17:26):
across the NFL. In eight weeks of the season, he
ranks inside the top ten quarterback hits and tackles for
lost across the NFL. Thirty two pressures rank eleven across
the NFL, and the nineteen hurries have him tied for nineteenth.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
So they get after the quarterback. They also got Fisk.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
In there doing his thing, fist, Kobe Turner, Bobby Brown.
No one on that defensive line has more than two
years experience in the NFL. They are young, and they
are red to go. And the thing is ignore the
sack number. So that's misleading.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
You say, oh, they've only sacked fourteen times, but they're
affecting the quarterback and it's gonna be tough. The offensive
line is definitely gonna need to bring it stay on
the rams side of the ball. Offensively, We're gonna go
to Kyron Williams Man Kiren's had really just kind of
become a force for them. Right fifth round pick in
twenty twenty two, didn't do a lot of rookie season,
you know, they said cam Akers, Darryl Henderson all that
(18:14):
going on, taking up a majority of carries, only had
one hundred and thirty nine yards and twenty two since
then became the lead back.
Speaker 4 (18:20):
Last they got rid of him for a reason. Absolutely,
what is this young man could do?
Speaker 2 (18:24):
He had one thousand, one hundred and forty four yards
on two hundred and twenty eight carries, twelve touchdowns or
twelve games. Last year he got his first Pro Bowl
nod and he's just kind of continued that this year.
Before last weekends the Vikings, he had nine consecutive games
with a rushing touchdown. He's second currently in the NFL
with eight rushing touchdowns, only behind Derrick Henry. He does, however,
have ten straight games with a touchdown rushing and receiving,
(18:45):
which is the longest streak in the National Football League.
On the year, five hundred and thirty three yards, eight touchdowns,
one hundred and thirty nine carries. Also got nineteen receptions
for ninety yards and two touchdowns. The Seahawks thrown in
their side has been run defense.
Speaker 5 (18:58):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
They've given up for one hundred and fifty yards in
each of the past four games. Something you want to
see change, but you know this game bump. The numbers
look bad, but that doesn't mean you're that far off.
The problem is it's it's being consistent across the board,
right you guys in a defense.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
Dotson moves over to will Ernest Jones.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Was here, had a practice in a half essentially and
on a Wednesday night, started on Sunday essentially, had one
padded practice, played one hundred percent of the snaps.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
That's hard. So it's gonna be a little bit of
a j justment period.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
But if the Seahawks win this game, it's going to
start by at least slowing down the run game because
he can't give up another one hundred and fifty yard
plus game.
Speaker 5 (19:36):
And do for Ernest Man, he's playing his old team.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
Do it. Do it, dude, get him Earnest baby, come on.
Speaker 5 (19:41):
Let's get it all right.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
Next one, Cooper Cup and puking a cool We mentioned
they are back, man, they got two of the best.
I'm gonna say it. I was hating at the beginning
of the podcast. Okay, I'm going to say Pook is
one of the best in the game. Okay, you don't
just throw fourteen hundred yards up there for nothing. Both
players that haven't been in the lineup since Week one
when Cooper Cup is healthy. As you guys, I know
he's one of the best in the game. He's a
local dude, Davis High School, went to Eastern Washington and
(20:04):
he beat my koogs when he was at Eastern Washington.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Yeah, he put up a lot of numbers on my
dog too, though.
Speaker 4 (20:10):
He was all right, I saw my by myself perfect
all right. As we know, man. He had one of
the best seasons ever for a wide receiver in twenty
twenty one when the Rams won the Super Bowl. He
had one hundred and forty five receptions, nineteen hundred yards
and sixteen touchdowns. He led the league in all those
categories gave, which gave him the Triple CRAM that led
to being a first team All Pro guy in top
(20:32):
five in MVP voting. If there were every year a
receiver could get the MVP, it was that year. I'm
convinced a receiver will never get the MVP. You gotta
go for like twenty two hundred yards and twenty touchdowns
because they're going to give it to a quarterback or
a running back.
Speaker 5 (20:45):
That was his chance to get it. I was disappointed
for him.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
He's a dog man, but he hasn't been healthy very
much Bump twenty four. He's only played in twenty four
last forty one games. But when he's out there to
prid of Davis High School. You remember back in day,
for those who you know, pay attention to Cooper Cup,
he was a pretty good basketball player.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
You sit me that that thing on, I g yeah,
Ja Zack Levine locked him up.
Speaker 5 (21:09):
Both they whooped him to state championship.
Speaker 3 (21:13):
Don't sleep on Eastern Washing though. For real. There's always
one team in either hoops or football that can ball out.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
Yeah, and like we mentioned, they also have Pooka Nakua.
Last year, he had the best rookie season that we've
seen out of a receiver. Man, he he was impressive.
He went to U dub right and then went to
b YU, so we kind of I.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
Knew who he was.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
I believe you knew who he was as well, But
when he hit the scene, it was it just looked different.
Speaker 5 (21:37):
Man.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
He had what he had the most working receptions the
NFL season and then a rookie in NFL history. Uh,
the record stood for sixty three years. Man, sixty three years.
He came in and broke that he caught over eighty
three percent of his targets on play action passes. So
you know the run game is hot with the Rams.
You know, Pooka's nice with the play action, Cooper's nice
(22:00):
the play action.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
It's going to be tough.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
And he returned last week had seven receptions for one
hundred and six yards.
Speaker 5 (22:05):
I like Puka's game.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
He's not a real precise type of runner when it
comes to routes, but he just has a good feel
for space. And in this McVeigh offense, you don't have
to be really nice when it comes to route run him.
Speaker 5 (22:16):
You just get to where you're supposed to be.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
Let all that motion the stuff confuse the defense and
you'll get some targets.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
Yeah, and he bursts on a scene against the Seahawks
last year ten receptions, one hundred and nineteen yards, So.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
We know in Week one those Week one Week one, Yes,
first NFL game.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Dang. And the thing.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
The last thing I'll say about those two is they
really impacted their RAMS offense when it comes to the
red zone. They came into Thursday Night Football, I hadn't
scored just eleven touchdowns to twenty three trips. They scored
on all three of the red zone drives, and you
can't tell me that those two didn't have something to
do with it. A lot of different guys you have
to defend there. So we'll see about that Seahawks in
any big games. From Riek one, Devin Witherspoon, the rest
(22:52):
of the secondary, hopefully Trey Brown gets back out there
to help as well. And then looking into the Seahawks receivers, man,
I'm really hoping the DK Metcalf is back in the
football game, bump. I feel like his absence was definitely felt. Yeah,
I'm not saying if DK was out here the Seahawks
w win that game, because they just didn't play well
enough to beat the Bills, obviously, but when there's a
guy in NUMBH fourteen's on the football field, you pay attention.
(23:13):
If I'm in the secondary, okay, who can run me
over and run past that guy, I'm gonna have an
idea of where he's at, and so I'm hoping JSN
and Tyler can have some big games kind of bounce back.
JSN had six catches sixty nine yards last week. But
the thing was is no other receiver had more than
one reception. Man so it's gonna be hard. Especially you
(23:33):
talk about getting Gino in a rhythm and that passing game,
that's not really it. There's a bounce, right, not enough
last week, too much. Earlier in the season were throwing
fifty times, So try to find that bounce. How do
you find that bounce? You got to be on the
football field. The Seahawks were one to seven on third
down last week, so that was part of it. So
I'm just hoping Jaysn. I'm waiting for him to kind
of have that second breakout game. We saw it against
the Patriots and since then he hadn't had a game
(23:55):
over fifty yards until this past week. But I'm waiting
to see him kind of again do his thing. But
to do it, he's got to be on the field more.
He's got targets, all that kind of stuff. So rams
are middle of the pack against a pass along on
two hund and twelve yards per game with seventeenth in
the NFL, But you have five interceptions, so we're gonna
have to wait and see man.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
Yeah, spread the ball around, spread the law, spread the wealth.
Speaker 5 (24:15):
DK's back.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
If he's back, he's gonna stress the field and open
up the intermedia stuff.
Speaker 5 (24:19):
And that's where Jasn and Lock is shine man.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
That those those shallows, those deep crosses, they work together.
Speaker 5 (24:25):
So get it done.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
Need it bump, and the Seahawks need a victory.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
They need it in the worst way.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
We're broadcasting live from the Seahawks Podcast Studio presented by Sony,
the official headphones partner of the Seattle Seahawks. We're gonna
tell you, obviously, Gus can get this done.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
Path the victory.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
After forty five waits for the snaff, Michael Vickton puts
it down.
Speaker 5 (24:46):
That kick is away.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
If that kick.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
Is gone, good day on Gwen bitch Gun.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
It's a path to victory on Hawk Talk.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Coach McDonald has only been obviously a head coach in
the NFL for eight weeks.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
This is week nine.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
But this is the biggest game in the coach McDonald's era.
Second divisional game at home, and the Seahawks, you know,
have lost in that or have lost four last five games,
and every team of the Vision has four losses. This
game will go a long way when it comes to
tie breakers when happens with the division title. You could
easily say what happened last year that those games against
the Rams cost to Seaousa playoffs.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
We don't want that to be the case this year.
So this game is huge.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
Yeah, they have to start fast. They've been struggling starting fast.
I looked at some stats. I believe in the first
half they're like twentieth when it comes to scoring in
the first half. They figured some things out in the
second half, typically in the third quarter. But you gotta
star fast man, get this offense in rhythm, get Geno
on rhythm, run the football.
Speaker 5 (25:41):
Play action that thing.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
You gotta do all of this and give him a
clean pocket, no turnovers. And like we've been asking every
single week, run the name ball. Thirty two yards will
not get you done. Thirty yards on the grounds not
good enough, especially with the talent you have back there.
I can understand if you were banged up and you
didn't have your dudes. You got your dudes back there,
so you got to be able to do that.
Speaker 5 (26:01):
You need to.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
I want to see a hundred yard game out a
K nine. I need to see that and defensively stop
the run. Hey, every week, same thing. But you know what,
Ernest is gonna get his second game, and I think
he was He played good last week. Ernest is getting
his second game. You got Harris, Who's who's getting into
the mix as well. There is potential there that a
buck fifty what last four games doesn't feel good, but
(26:22):
there's talent out there.
Speaker 5 (26:23):
I think this could be the week.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
And it's about just putting together, man, And it's there's
enough talent on that defense to get it done. We
know that, and you just got to find a way
to get done because this is what it is.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
Man.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
You lose this division game, you're in tough shape. So
obviously I will never say I hate taking must win
You can't. There's no must win games in week nine.
But this is about as close as you can get
to a feeling like a muscle, and it just set
the tone in the division.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
Man. You want to own this division.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
You want to own the NFC wast He starts here
and you know with Sean McVay you gotta keep rising
in the right spot. This is going to be tricky defense.
But defensively again, you talked about stopping the run, stop
the big plays.
Speaker 3 (26:57):
Cup and Nakua are going to catch the football. Yep.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
You're not going to hold them receptionless, but they just
can't go off again. So get after the quarterback. There
tops in the league about allowing pressures for Matthew Stafford,
but he needs to feel it. You need to get
after him turnovers and this will be a good time
to get that done this NFL season. Feel every play,
every hit, every moment with the Sony one thousand x

Speaker 5 (27:34):
Bump that's a heck of a readA You know, I
think so too.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
I thought it car out.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
We did.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
I'd only read it once time before this, and I
thought I did a good job.
Speaker 5 (27:42):
I appreciate you saying that.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
