Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
Michael Bumpus.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Playfake, go to roll right, dumps it off into the
right flat to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off of one
tackler catch inside the forty down of the forty five
yard line. Powered by seahawks dot Com. Matt pumpfakes looking
at the gold line. He throws it into the end zone. Touchdown, Sahawks.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
It's Michael Buffas with a diving catch in the end zone,
a ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpers, and the kid
out of Washington State has found himself a.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Place on this team. Now here's your host, Nasa Chobee.
Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
The Seahawks getting ready to take on the New York
Jets from the Big Apple Seahawks. Rolling into week thirteen,
we are broadcasting live from the Seahawks Podcast Studio presented
by Sony, the official partner.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Of the Seattle Seahawks.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Bump the Seahawks taking a trip across the country to
take on Aaron Rodgers in the New York Jet East Coast.
Son Now on paper were and again into all the matchup,
all this stuff on paper, this looks like a game
the Sea Auction win.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Man, I'm almost reluctant to say it, but you know what,
to be great, you must embrace the greatness and set
expectations and meet those expectations. Right, So the expectation now
is that they win this ballgame because of what they've
shown over the last win three or four weeks, and
what the Jets have shown all year.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
So yeah, let's get this done again. You're right, I
never want to look ahead or do all that stuff.
Because the Jets have a lot of good players. We're
going get into every one of those talents and why
they're good. But this is the game the Sea Auction win,
and we will spend the next thirty minutes telling you
why that is the case.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Let's get into those Jets. What's on tap? What's on tap?
Three in eight record, third place in the AFC East.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
They're not in last. The New England Patriots are actually
in the last place.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
That's tough.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
They have lost to the Niners, the Broncos, the Vikings,
the Bills, the Steelers, the Patriots, the Cardinals, and the Colts.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
And you said it, it's been a rough year.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Let's call like it is then all the hype Aaron
Rodgers comes back. Everyone coming into the season was talking
about them being a potential contender in the AFC Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
I'll drinking to kool aid. I was right there with him, like,
look at his roster, why wouldn't they.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Be And it didn't really go that way.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
So they start off two and one and things were
going okay, but guess what, They've lost seven of their
last eight games, which included a five game losing streak.
To make matters worse, they fired their head coach, Robert
Sall after a two and three start. Then defensive coordinator
Jeff Albrich took over as interim. Hasn't had been much
better luck. They're one to five with him at the helm.
Then things not even worse. They decided to get rid
of their general manager, Joe Douglas after week eleven. So

(02:33):
it's safe to say things did not go the way
everyone anticipated they would go.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Even though they do have the talent.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Like Aaron Rodgers or Breist Hall, Garrett Wilson, DeVante Adams,
DJ Reedzace Gardner, all these players bump However, it is
still not going their way. They're three to eight, but
The one thing that did happen for them is they
will have a bye week heading into the Seahawks game
on Sunday. But last time out, Bump, it was a
heartbreaker for those Jets.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Yeah it was man.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
They lost in them Colts and Anthony Riches and maybe
he made his returns lineup and he didn't disappoint. They're
trailing twenty seven to twenty two. With two forty one
left in the game. Richardson led the coach right down
the field sixth place seventy yards, ending with a Richison
finding the end zone with a four yard touchdown in
a game winning touchdown.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Richardson was three for three on that drive for sixty yards.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
The Jets got the ball back with forty sixcess seconds
left training trailing twenty eight to twenty seven, but Aaron
Rodgers was sacked twice and the Colts held on to victory.
After being benched two weeks prime, Richardson had his best
NFL game twenty of thirty two hundred and seventy two
yards in a touchdown, ran for thirty two yards and
two scores on ten carries.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Nice to see him bounce back. I'm glad.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Look when they first bnched him. I'm thinking, what are
they doing. They're putting him on time out. Let the
young rookie kind of go out there, sink or swim.
But they benched him because he tapped out, and you know,
so you had to send a message to the team.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
But they didn't give up on him. I appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
On the other side, Aaron Rodgers had an ok day,
totaling two or twenty nine one hundred and eighty four
yards two touchdowns, but the Jets had a brutal start,
not getting a first down until their sixth offensive possession.
They did score twenty seconds left in a twenty second
half points and took the lead late before giving up
the game winning drive. Devonte Adams six receptions, seventy two yards,

(04:13):
Breeze Hall one hundred and twenty one total yards and
two touchdowns. This doesn't make sense to me how bad
the Jets are. They've made all the changes. You get
rid of your head coach, you get rid of the
offensive coordinator, you get rid of your GM. So they
believe there's something wrong with a process and not the
actual product that's on the field. Maybe they fix some things,
hopefully not this week. Yeah, man, it doesn't make sense.

(04:33):
You're right, because they have a ton of good athletes
and roster. But Robert saw was a great coach.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
He was here in Seattle, then he goes down to
San Francisco and is a great defensive coordinator. It just
didn't work out for them. Obviously a lot of other
factors behind the scenes, but for whatever reason, the Jets
are what they are in the NFL. You are what
your record is, and their record is three and eight.
When we look into deeper into the numbers, let's take
a look at the head to head comparison Seahawks and Jets.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
It took the offense.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Seahawks have the twelve rank off averaging three hundred and
forty six yards per game running offense and number you
don't love to see. They're twenty eighth in the NFL
at eighty nine pass offense or number two in the
league two fifty seven. In points per game, they are
fifteenth at twenty two. On the flip side, for the Jets,
they are twenty seventh in total offense, averaging two ninety
four a game, thirtieth in run offense, worse than the

(05:19):
Seahawks eighty seven yards per game, eighteenth in the air
two hundred and seven yards and then eighteenth twenty seventh
averaging eighteen points per game. So offensively, while the Seahawks
don't run the ball as well as the Jets do,
the Seahawks are definitely a lot higher up in the
rankings and it definitely shows with the record, Yeah, it does.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
And then defensively, what the Jets do the best combats
what the Hawks do the best. Hawks are the number
two throwing offense, Jets are the number two passing defense,
So we'll see what that matchup looks like. Overall, the
Jets are number eight when it comes to total defense,
giving up three hundred and five yards per game. The
Hawks twenty run defense, Jets twenty second third pass defense.

(06:01):
Just mentioned that for the Jets or second, the Hawks
fifteenth in points allowed, the Jets are thirteenth and the
Hawks are fourteen. Time of possession is the same. There
are a lot of similarities here. The strengths match the weaknesses. Overall,
on paper, it's set up to be a good game,
but again you have to look at the film and
break things down and see what's going on with this
Jets team and how this Hawks team has been playing

(06:23):
so far. What this tells me is that the Jets
are capable, according to numbers, to put up a fight.
You never go into a game thinking a team is
just gonna lay down and let you walk into their
house and win a ball game.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
They have personnel to make this interesting.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
But collectively, over the year, they haven't been performing the
way that teams have hoped or if they have hoped,
and as of late, the Hawks have been playing some
good ball.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Yeah no, it's definitely a game where if the Seahawks
play the way they're supposed to, you think they'd have
the advantage. But to your point, you don't have the
number two passing defenses late in the year by accident, right,
or the eighth beens defense overall by accident. They have
some dogs on that side of the ball, which we
will talk about here in a second.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
But these teams, they don't play every once in a while.
They play about every four years or so. Let's know
the history, No, your history.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Seahawks lead the all time series thirteen to eight. Hawks
have won the last five matchups dating back to two
thousand and eight.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
That's a good year. I was yeah four and twelve
that year. One of those last was against the Jets.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
The last time the Seahawks played the Jets was at
Luominfield here in twenty twenty two. They won twenty three
to six in Week seventeen. This helped the Seahawks get
back to the playoffs, as they won their last two
games of that season and got some help from Detroit
to get in as a wild card. This game also
completed the personal suite for Gino Smith. Gino beat all
his former teams in twenty twenty two, his first year
fully starting for the Seahawks, which was cool. Got a

(07:42):
boy beat the Chargers, beat the Giants and the Jets
in that game. He didn't put up a ton of
big numbers, but he was very efficient eighteen of twenty
nine one to eighty three two touchdowns. Ken Walker had
his second highest total in his career with one hundred
and thirty three yards on twenty three carries. So hoping
to see some more of that come Sunday. And then
tight ends had a great day. Kobe Parkinson and Tyler

(08:02):
Maybury caught touchdown passes. That was the first Aby only
touchdown pass for Tyer Aby, so I was definitely hyped
about that.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
And yeah, the Seahawks.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
They played well that game at home, so hopefully they
can keep that mojo rolling as they take on the
Jets on the road. But before we get to the
Jets and the Manda Man matchups, let's figure out what's
going on in the division.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
What's the word and the Seahawks? So the NFC West
champs again, what's the word? In the west On Hawk top?

Speaker 3 (08:33):
The Seahawks sitting on top at six and five of
the NFC West. Arizona Cardinals are six and five, but
there's something called a tie breaker and guess what the
Hawks have that could you beat the Cardinals straight up?

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Last week?

Speaker 3 (08:44):
The Rams are five and six, the Niners are five
and six. It's still a tight race. Ain't nothing guaranteed.
It's still till you gotta be on point. But man,
it's crazy what a couple of weeks do for you.
A couple weeks ago, where we're down in the dumps,
we're feeling like who knows where this team is going?
But they take care of business against divisional opponents, which
is key.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
Imagine if one.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Play goes the right way against the Rams, you would
be undefeated against the division. But you know what, we're
over that. Ye, you're in first place for you at
six and five. All right, let's talk about the the
Niners and Packers game.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Man.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
After the loss to the Seahawks, things have gone from
bad to worse for the defending NFC champs. Last Sunday,
you have to travel to Green Bay take on a
tough Packers team without starting quarterback Rock Perdy, starting left
tackle Tren Williams, and without the man Nick Bosa. But
as we know, nobody will feel bad for you. In
this league, no one cares. Next man up. You gotta

(09:33):
show up and you gotta perform. They mess up though,
didn't take care of the football. We know when the
Niners turned the football over, it's all bad. They turned
it over three times, committed nine penalties, and missed a
bunch of tackles.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
And there's a man, Josh Jacobs, who had himself a
good game. Oh yeah, ran all over them boys. He rushed.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
This is a crazy stat about that game. Jacobs became
the first player in the past fifty five regular season
games to rush for one hundred yards against the forty
nine Ers. It was the longest a team had gone
without allow one hundred yard rusher since nineteen fifty five
and Jacob's with one hundred and six yards on twenty
six carries with a three touchdowns. So, man, you know

(10:09):
you're doing something when the Niners had not fifty five
games a long time to give up, to not give up.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
If you told me that before the podcast, I'd be like, Ah,
you're lying.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
I would not believe you.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
I mean, for context, it's only been a couple games
for the Yeah, so you're roping about fifty five some man,
that's nuts.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
Without party out there, the forty nine has turned to
their backup Brandon Allen at QB, who had a just
ten career starts and hadn't started a game since twenty
twenty one. He finished seventeen to twenty nine with a
buck ninety nine, one touchdown in one interception. Christian McCaffrey,
this ain't right. Only thirty one yards and eleven carries.
You can tell he's easing into it. When they played

(10:48):
against the Hawks, I saw that he didn't seem right.
Wasn't putting his foot in the ground the way that
he's used to doing it.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
It just is he doesn't look healthy.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Yeah, I mean, first of all, took you, like we
said many times in this podcast. He had to go
to German you try to chiure out what's going on.
So there he's he's probably not right, and it kind
of shows with how they're playing because McCaffrey that you
look at those numbers, eleven carries thirty one yards.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
That's not Christian mccawn now whatsoever.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
The one bright spot George Kittle did return to the
lineup after missing the Seahawks game. He let all receivers
six receptions eighty yards and one touchdown Jordan Love thirteen
or twenty three one sixty three two touchdowns as the
Packers blew out them forty nine ers thirty eight to ten,
and Bumba does not get easier forty nine ers. They
traveled the Buffalo to face the Bills on Sunday night

(11:32):
football like.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
The go Bill. I get to watch that, you know,
you get to watch that. We got an early game
on Sunday. Oh yeah, and we get to watch this
go down.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Yeah. I can't wait for this one. Then the Eagles
in the Rams Seahawks is getting held from all over.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
You need lovetimes. It takes a village. Now we talk
about good games. Josh Jacobs did something the Niners hadn't
given up for fifty five games. Then there's another little
guy called Saquon Barkley. Heard of him, Giants fans Barkley anyway,
he's single handedly He ran all over the Los Angeles Rams.
He rush for two hundred and fifty five yards on

(12:05):
twenty six carries, two touchdowns. He had touchdown runs of
seventy two and seventy bump.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
The Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Have been around a long time, and that's the most
yards anyone has ever ran for in that uniform.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Yeah, that's impressive. I forget who the analyst was saying,
Nick right is the guy.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
I believe Fox? Yeah, he said I was.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
Obviously the phone listens to you and it heard me
talking about Saquan. So I pull up my phone on
Instagram and it's him saying he doesn't think Saquon would
be an impact player for the Eagles.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Man, So that in age.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Well, but as analysts, that's what we do, right, We
throw out there, take ward and we'll see if the
six that one didn't stick. He racked up the ninth
most rushing yards in an NFL game. Barkley had three
hundred and two total yards, becoming the twelfth player in
NFL history to top three hundred and the first Eagles player,
while also becoming the first NFL player with two seventy
yard touchdown runs in a game since him JD. Maurice

(13:00):
Jones drew in two thousand and nine. Giants, I know
you sick, yeah, man, I know you're sick.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
Every time I think about the hard knocks in that
clip when they're having the conversation about it, Man, offseason
hard knocks is brutal.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
I think they need to stop doing the off season
hard knocks. I don't know if anyone's gonna want to
be out there.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
I mean, they just made that situation worse with the
GIANTSH goodness documented this.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Wow, that's that's rough man, the Giants. Giants. If you're
just sick, you're just sick. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Outside of Barkley, though, Jaalen Hurst, he did to have
a decent game fifteen to twenty two, one to seventy
nine to one touchdown. AJ Brown had six receptions one
hundred and nine yards in one touchdown. Stafford he was okay.
He's twenty four thirty six two forty three, two touchdowns,
and Puka and Kua led all receivers with nine receptions
one hundred and seventeen yards. But I mean the Eagles
dominated dominated, forty one to two ninety bump terms of

(13:51):
total yards, out rushed him three fourteen to ninety two.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Now the Rams they hit the road, traveling to New
Orleans taking on the four and seven Saints. Nothing is guaranteed,
but you feel like they could be able to handle
that one. So after living six games in a row,
the Saints are now in a two game winn a streak.
So go out there and play your player. You know
your game. But the Hawks took care of business. So
if they keep taking take keep taking care of business. Goodness,

(14:18):
grace as ness, Shelby, keep taking care of business, they
should be all right.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
No, that's the thing. There can't be a letdown at all.
We've talked about the Jets as good as they are.
But as a Seahawk fan, we we're not coaches, we're
not on the team, so we can look ahead.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Yeah, and when you look aheady go, oh my god.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Okay, you take care of business this week, you beat
the Cardinals. You are truly in the driver's seat. And
so but as you know, that's why they play the
games on Sunday. So let's get back into these jets.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Man up, Hey, who you got? Who you got?

Speaker 1 (14:45):
You know what time it is? Man up, Man up, Brother,
Man up, man up on Hawk Talk first matchup.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
We're gonna look at here, mom, Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
How can we not got to the leader, the leader
of the CE Aaron Rodgers. His tenure York has been
definitely filled with drama. He definitely gonna get your pop
Corrinne with this. The Aaron Rodgers We've got to know
over the past twenty years, he's one of the best
in the game, one of the best to ever do it.
His resume speaks for herself. Ten time Pro bowler, four
time All Pro, four time MVP, over sixty thousand passing

(15:16):
yards appeared in two hundred and forty one games. Only
QB and NFL history was sixty thousand passing yards and
three thousand rush yards. But bom, this is in Green Bay,
this is New York, and it's been a struggle. It
has his first game on national TV. Last year, rupshit
his achilles after one pass.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
Done for the year.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
This year, his numbers aren't awful, but they're not that
Aaron Rodgers the standard that we've been used to and
accustomed to. On the season, he's two hundred and forty
one for three to eighty two thousan four hundred and
forty two yards, seventeen touchdowns, seven interceptions. He has been
sacked twenty six times.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Now.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
Lots of rumors about where Aaron Rodgers is gonna be.
If they're gonna shut him down the season, what was
gonna happen. So what we're hearing now is that Rogers indeed,
so it'll start according to their interim head coach on
Sunday against Seattle.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
Why wouldn't he That'd be the dumbest thing in the world.
I don't care how bad he's playing. You paid them
all this money to come here. He assisted in getting
some guys fired on this team. He's got to go
out there and improve it.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
You're ready to give it him the keys to a
certain extent. Anyway, those are nonsense. Anyway, Rodgers will play
a courting to an interim head coach and beyond the season.
He hopped on the Pat McAfee show, and he says
he doesn't even know if he wants to play next year,
but if he does, he would like to be in
New York.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
I think that's like the worst thing he could do
this year was keep going on that dang show. He's
the one that's saying, you know, distractions and all that stuff.
I'm good with players having podcasts. Everyone has a podcast,
but that one's a bit different. That one's like ESPN.
Every single week. You got to answer some questions and
Pats his boys. So Pat don't press him to much neither.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
No, he takes care of him, but it's still you
want to talk about distractions that can't not be distraction,
especially the way that they're playing defensively. The Seahawks are
twenty to total defense, allowing three hundred and forty four
yards per game. However, the Hawks I've only allowed sixteen
point three points per game since Week nine, which is
fourth in the NFL during that span.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
Bump.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
So Aaron Rodgers, he's not playing to the level he's
played before, but you don't have his credentials for no reason.
So he's still that same guy that you have to respect,
and he's still the same guy's going to get you
jump off sides, all that same stuff. Man, Rodgers, he
might not be doing all that he was doing a
green bag. But he's still a guy.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
He got respect.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
He's still had dog that the owner says doesn't bite.
But you look at him and say, yeah, he just
my bite stid. I don't care how much training he's
gone through. He got it in him. That's how look
at Aaron Rodgers. He still got some bite in him.
So don't don't sleep on him. I'll just talk about
Albert quarterback Gino Smith. He had a solid outing against
the Cardinals. He didn't have any The stats weren't crazy right.

(17:42):
It was twenty two or thirty one, two fifty four,
one touchdown in one interception, and it was a bad interception.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Wasn't a good one, but it is what it is.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
He still led a thirteen play drive that lasted eight
minutes and thirteen seconds in the fourth quarter, setting up
a Jason Myers game selling field goal. He's second in
the NFL with ten the game when he drives since
twenty twenty two. You want to win a ball game,
just be within striking distance. Give Gino the football and
he'll give you an opportunity.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
You want to win, Put Gino in. Want to win?
Put Gino in. Come on, now, get that T shirt done?

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Coming into this matchup against the Jest, Gino needs one
three hundred yard passing game to ty Russell Wilson for
the most three hundred yard games in a single season
in a franchise in this franchise history with five.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
That is impressive. I didn't think he was anywhere near
that at this point. Honestly, it's gonna get done easily, too.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
There's no way that he goes well, we've got six
games left without one more three hundred yard passing game.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
I can see it happening on Sunday. Yeah, I can
see it too.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
Right now, Gino's fifth place in franchise history and attempts
fifteen hundred and seventy six, completions one thy seventy one,
passing yards eleven thousand, six hundred and seventy six, and
passing touchdowns with sixty seven. Let's look at who he
is amongst his peers in this league. Passing yards in
the NFL, he's first. Completing percentage, he is fifth, sixty
nine point one percent completions he is first. Attempts, he

(18:58):
is second. Right now, I think the biggest thing Gino
can improve on is turnovers. Obviously, he's done a great
job of the last two weeks minus two plays. I'm
not mad at, you know, for trying to make a play,
especially down in the red zone where there have been
some issues, but I think, you know it's got to
be calculated. And here's one thing too, I'm not making
an excuse for Gino. If I'm Tyler Lockett on that interception,

(19:20):
I'm drifting towards the back of the end zone because
I know I have a flat defender right there. I
think that both just weren't on the same page. Saw
an opportunity try to get it in quick, just didn't happen.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
Yeah, and he's gonna have his hands full this week
because they have good defensive backs, which we'll get into
in a second, but their eighth and total defense and
second against the pass, as you mentioned, So.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
The Jets are gonna bring it.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
As long as you know takes care of the football,
is gonna be good for the Seahawks offense. Flipping it
to the other side. Breesce Hall in that running game
for the Jets. Breess Hall has been as good as
advertised since he's coming to this league. Second round pick
in twenty twenty two, thirty six overall out of Iowa
State or he wrote every rewrote every record in the
Cyclones record book, two time consensus All American Big twelve
Player of the Year, all con friends, all that jazz,

(20:01):
So the dude was good. Got off to a great
start as rookie rush for four hundred and sixty three
yards on eighty carries for tuds, but he tears his
ACL after seven weeks. Has a good bounce back here
last year missing one thousand yards by just six yards. However,
he's a dual threat, so he had one five and
eighty five total yards and nine touchdowns, and this year

(20:22):
he's picked up where he left off in twenty twenty three.
So far this season, he's got one hundred and fifty
two carries for six hundred and thirty two yards, forty
six receptions for four hundred and one yards, and two touchdowns,
so he leads the team in rushing. He's second in
the NFL among running backs when it comes to receiving
yards four hundred and one. He's one of eleven players
with one thousand yards from scrimmage in one of two

(20:42):
with four hundred plus yards rushing and receiving. Recorded a
career high on hundred and three receiving yards in Week
seven against Pittsburgh.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
So it is what it is.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
Bump, It's obvious he can hurt you in the run.
In the pass game, Bressaw is definitely a guy that
you have to contend.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
With whenever he's the new running back.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
These new running backs, the only one who doesn't have
to receive the ball out the backfield is Derek hen Right, they.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
Don't man fathered in.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
Yeah, he's he got rollover minutes and all that stuff.
Everyone else you've got to be able to catch the football,
and Breeze Holmes is a perfect example that the best
running backs are dual the rest of these days.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
Yeah, no question.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
And the good thing in this matchup for the Seahawks though,
is what they're doing defensively, especially against the run. Seahawks
run defense continues to approve. After allowing one hundred and
fifty yards plus rushing yards in four consecutive games, the
Seahawks have only allowed two hundred and forty eight in
the last three. Since Week nine, the Seahawks have only
allowed eighty two yards per game, which is fifth in
the NFL. You'll hold James Connor to eight yards. That

(21:37):
was his worst game since his rookie year in twenty seventeen.
The Cardinals run for forty nine yards as a team.
The previous two weeks they had combined for three to sixty.
The Cardinals also had zero rushing first downs last week. Wow,
that's only been done five times in franchise history. So
the Seahawks are playing some good ball up front. Ernest Jones,
Tyree Knight, the front seven, Leonard Williams. They've really put

(21:58):
it together the last couple of weeks. So that continues
on Sunday against these Jets.

Speaker 3 (22:02):
Look in the run game, numbers aren't a fluke. The
Cardinals can run the rock. That's what they do, That's
what they prefer to do. Sometimes you get these numbers
against teams that aren't really great at running the football.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
You packed yourself in the back. But context matters.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
The Cardinals were a are a good rushing football team.
Big up to that defensive line in those backers. Man,
let's talk about their receivers. They got some guys Garrett Wilson,
DeVante Adams, and despite their office the numbers, the Jets
still got some dogs in the receiver room. Man Jackson,
Smith and jag Wood played with Garrett Wilson. So you
know that's a OSU is now wide receiver. You it

(22:37):
is what it is hard to argue.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
Else he is the only one that can kind of
get in the conversation.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
But it's still and they got some guys coming out
this year that it keeps going. Man, oh man, apparently
we got beef with Garrett. He stole the Rookie of
the Year award away from Ken Walker. I agree hundred
percent with.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
You, man. I mean we got got twice by the
j say a year, man made no sense.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
We got him on the field though, Yeah, I got
him on the field. It's all that matters and helped,
you know, get as sweet. So there's some silver line
in there. Wilson was drafted tenth overall by the Jets
in twenty twenty two and has done nothing but produced.
In twenty twenty two, he won the Rookie of the Year,
but he also went for a thousand yards, receiving each
of his full two NFL seasons. He's reliable, he's you

(23:23):
know what I see him in an interview. He's a
smart dude too. Yeah, he's a sharp guy.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
This year.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
I mean he's first on the team with seven hundred
and seventy two yards. He recorded his fifth most receptions
in the NFL this season with sixty nine, so he's
he's having himself. Because it's weird how individuals are having
good seasons on this football team, but collectively as a
team that is not putting it together.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
No, you can't.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
And it's it's wild to me too, because again, when
they initially got Aaron Rodgers, I was like, Okay, you're
getting partnered or you already got a number one developing
wide receiver in Garrett Wilson. You had one to start
the year, so I was thinking he was going to
go off even more. The only thing, sorry, this is
not even in context for the Jets right now. Yeah,
how did Ohio State not win a national championship? C

(24:06):
J Stroud, Jackson Smith and Jig Budd, Jared Wilson, Chris Olave, Like,
come on, Marvin Harrison Junior.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
They were all on one offense.

Speaker 3 (24:16):
Sorry, I just can't like coach Man, coach Day, you
gotta get it done.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Coach Day. Holy, I mean coach Day.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
What's different, different conversation for different podcast, but my goodness.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Oh man.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
Now they added Davante Adams the Jets acquired him via
trade after a week six for a conditional third round pick.
Here's who he is on papers at three time All
Pro Guy, six time Pro Bowler, one of three players
NFL history to record eleven thousand yards receiving and ninety
plus touchdowns in their first eleven seasons. Since twenty sixteen,
he's second in NFL and receptions eight hundred and twenty

(24:51):
eight and receiving yards ten thousand, three hundred and thirty nine,
and first in receiving touchdowns with ninety three.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
There's no denying who this guy is. Man.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
He went to Vegas after leaving Green Bay and still
had back to back one thousand yards seat fighting.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
Man.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
I felt bad for the dude over there. Man, you
got a quarterback carousel going over there. You go over
there to join your coach teammate. They even live together
for a little bit, and then he gets shipped off.
And now you got at O'Connell throwing you into football.
You got Garner Minshoot throwing the football. I want to
say there was one one was Marriote over there for
a little bit. Yeah, yeah, it's just but he still
continues to reduce man even though he's not having the

(25:30):
year that he wants with the Jets. You can't sleep
on DeVonta Adams. He's he has the best release in
the game. I'm interested to see how many times the
Hawks walk up and try to press them.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
Yeah, man, I'm still I'm still bitter.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
I think I have very distinct memories and tough SIAK
losses throughout the year. Wild card or divisional playoffs twenty nineteen.
We need to get a stop on third down. I
want to say DeVante's either there's a couple of different
ones because he had which there's when he beat Trade
and then another one he got oogle on.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
That we really needed late in the game. And he's
still one of the best to ever do it. Man,
he is. It's weirdest production right.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Three games with the Raiders, eighteen receptions, two hundred nine yards,
one touchdown. With the Jets five games, twenty six receptions,
twenty seventy eight yards and one touchdown.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
They're just not clicking over there. This this something ain't
something right.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
And the crazy thing is Rogers and Adams had the
most lethal combination out of anyone in the NFL from
twenty eighteen to twenty twenty one, they ring first in
the NFL and receptions for twenty five, receiving yards five thousand,
two fifty seven, and receiving touchdowns forty seven. So that
duo was unstoppable in Green Bay.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
Yep. Not the case this year.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
And then they lost Alan Lazard, another one of Aaron
Rodgers homies that he brought in there.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
I'll tell you what a good year though, he's having
a good year before win and then I want to
we talk about Aaron Rodgers, but he's loyal.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Man.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
Yeah, if you do any good, people give you one
too many chances.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
Oh goodness.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
Well, the Seahawks they're fifteenth against the pass on two
hundred fourteen yeer game. But Riquel and Spoon, Julian Love
and defensive player of the week Kobe Bryant, let's go.
I haven't played some good ball. So the Seahawks secondary
I believe will be up for the challenge. Now, let's
fok go over to our receivers and man, we've talked
about it the last three or four weeks.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
JSN, he's here. He's here. If anyone will question it,
by the march, can by the march. Now he's here.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
Last week he had six receptions seventy seven yards one touchdown,
set a single season career high for him, sixty six
receptions and yards at seven and fifty five. He was
just twenty three yards short of his third one hundred
yard receiving game, which would tie the club record. DK
Metcalf said earlier this year he's eighth in the NFL
on receptions. He's one receiving touchdown shy of his career

(27:46):
high with five. He needs one hundred and twenty three
yards to pass Steve Largin for the most receiving yards
in a four game span with four nineties. So Jayson
balling out, let's go DK came back. He's still kind
of coming off that knee injury. Been back line it
for two games after missing two games with that MCL
against Cardinals, four receptions fifty nine yards not crazy good performance,

(28:07):
but did have that really clutch third down conversion thirty
eight where Gino as scramble around found DK huge one
that set up the game ceiling field goal against the Cardinals.
So DK still doing his thing. Forty six receptions, six
ninety seven, three touchdowns. He's got twenty twenty receptions less
than JSN and He's only like forty five yards behind
him and two less games played, so hoping to see

(28:29):
some more big playability from dk explosive.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
You just need one deep attempt. Oh, he almost had
a big one last right. Two defenders man so close
to coming up with that football. I believe there's a penalty.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
It would have got called back anyway, but still it
was exactly what you want.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
It's still nice to see. If you need one or
two of those this game to see what he does.

Speaker 1 (28:47):
Then you got Lockett. Lock It doing to the Lockett things.
Thirty eight receptions, four ninety five two touchdowns early the season.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
Ala, he's done.

Speaker 1 (28:54):
He became the second player in franchise history thirteen thousand
combined yards, needs two more touchdowns to pass Marshawn Lynch
for third place at all time touchdown list. And he's
just the He's the go man. He's second in everything
Seahawks related for talking receptions, yards, touchdowns. Unfortunately, the guy
who's number one is like number one by lot.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
Yeah, he was one of the greatest receivers of all
time in this league.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
It's gonna be hard to catch. It's gonna be hard
to catch Steve Large in any category. But bump. For
them to have a good game, they're gonna have to
take on these dbs from New York.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Yeah they Let's start with Sauce. I mean, we we
all know the name. We all know where he came from,
the same school as our guy, Kobe Bryant. Didn't win
the JI did win the Jim Thorpe saying he was
in Defensive Player of the Week. Last week he was saying
he was he might be having a down year depending
on who you talk to. But they also have DJ
Reid over there. They're one of the best two combos.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
Yeah in the league.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
I mean, all jokes aside, we understand who these guys are.
Love seeing Dj Reed do his thing.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Man.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
The Hawks claimed them off of waivers when he was
released by the Niners in twenty twenty. If you know,
his story is great at JC. Guy works his way up.
Love his story. And uh, what I like about Dj
Reid is his his aggressiveness because he's a he's a
smaller guy, and you know, as a smaller dude, the
dbs are typically the smaller guys on the on the
football field, you have to be aggressive, and he does

(30:15):
it exactly that.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
So big ups to uh to DJ Reid doing his thing.
The combo.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
You have the aggressive guy with the smooth guy on
the other side and Sauce. And now Sauce isn't known
for his past excuse me, his interceptions more forward, just
being sticky in his past breakups.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
So I say, go at him. I like the matchup.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
You respect these dudes, but also say, I like DK
against Sauce, DK against DJ. I like Jayson against both
of those guys. I like Tyler Lockett against both of
those guys. So just uh, just keep the good times.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
Rolling man.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
DJ has eight passive defendive, one tackle, two tackles for looso,
one quarterback hit. Sauce has thirty six tackles for passes defendant,
one sack, one QB hit and one TfL.

Speaker 2 (30:57):
Go at him. I like the matchup. Let's see what
they do. Yeah, I think a lot of things with
Sauce too.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
Is people got at some point get scared almost the
Richard Sherman treatment. Where we start, We're gonna stop, you know,
tackling half the field.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
No I'm not.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
You're in tell way and grave to take away half
the field. Now go after them. You have some of
the best receivers in the game to go after him. Right,
one thousand percent agree. But it should be fun matchup.
Got your popcorn ready because they gonna be talking.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
Yeah, you already know this might be the most the
most active game when it comes to Trashdoll.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
I think fourteen will be talking too, because he'll be
celebrating in the end zone.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
Market down DK Metcalf touchdown this week.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
The last matchup we'll look at is Quinn Williams or
a body er body this man. You want to talk
about a guy that can wreck a game? Bro We
encountered this last time we played a team from New York,
Dexter Lawrence. Same type of player who can ruin the
game from inside. Dominant. He's in a six season, two
time pro bowler, was an All Pro and twenty twenty
two might be on his way to another All Pro season.

(31:55):
He's recorded a third sacks, third most sacks for an
interior lineman and franchise history with thirty nine, and this
year he started every game. In twenty twenty four, thirty
two tackles, seventyfl six sacs, sixteen qbits, and thirty six
pressures man from inside, second most pressures from an interior
lineman this season.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
He's a dog.

Speaker 3 (32:16):
Top three interior lineman in this league. Right now, you
gotta throw Dexter in there. I'm still gonna get Chris
Jones in the mix. You don't ignore that, dude. And
then there's this guy. I was watching film of them
last night and it's just it's just violent, it's big,
it's strong. So good for you, Quinnen and you guards
and centers. Do you think, olu, yeah, Olu gains laking.

(32:40):
Let's go, let's get it go need you yeah, get
those lunch pails ready. So we just went through all
those guys for the Jets.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
After going through, you're like, these guys got a lot
of players, but we'll let you know how the Seahawks
run and get this victory in New York.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Path to victory.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
After forty five waits for the snap packet victory puts
it down, that kicks away. If that kick is good,
good day of quinn fifth gun.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
It's a pass to victory.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
On Hawk Talk, the Seahawks are not just in the
race bump, They're in first place all alone in the NFCS.
Is a gear up for the last six games of
the season. We were in the stretch run. As we mentioned,
we just went through all the dogs that Jets have.
They're three and eight. But you can't take this team
for granted. With all the Pro Bowl, All Pro caliber
players Aaron Rodgers, Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, Quinn Williams, Savante

(33:30):
Adams to name a few, these boys can rise up
and beat you any given Sunday. You saw it happen
against the Houston Dexans a little bit ago. But for me, bump,
gotta start fast, jump on them early. The way this
defense is playing, you give them a lead. Good luck
in that back.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Yeah, man, don't uh, don't give them any type of hope.
You let them like, look, be who you are. You're
not a good football team. We're gonna remind you you're
not a good football team. So please do that. Stop
the run and force the forty one year old man
Aaron Rodgers to try to beat you, you know, force
him to try to beat because Leonard is going to
jack all of that up. Man, if he plays even

(34:03):
a little bit like he did last week, it should
be a tough way for these guys. And then you
got to find a way to get the offense going.
We say this every week. Get the run game going,
all right, it's been a while since we've seen ken
Walker do his thing. He's had some electric plays, but
it's just been a while. You got to give him
a chance to get positive yards and.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
Just give him opportunity. There was one play last week.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
I believe it was a fourteen yard run by him
running off the right side, and I'm watching it go
down and I think it was Cody White on the
backside who didn't push Crack to the safety. It's like,
you're one play away. And excuse me if I got
the name wrong, but there was a backside safety or
backside receiver that didn't push Crack to the safety. And
if you just get it get in his way, Kitin
is gone. So just put a body on his body.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
No, it's the little things in the run game. They
feel like it's close. It's not quite there yet, but
we're hoping it can get there. Broadcasting line from the
