Speaker 1 (00:02):
It is Thursday, January second. This is Jaguars Happy Hours.
And now a guy who always keeps all of his
resolutions in the jar on a shelf in the kitchen.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
JP chack Ridge, welcome in.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
It is Jaguars Happy Hour on this Thursday, January third,
January second.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
What day is this January second? I've lost track of it.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Goodness gracious, I have a resolution to keep track of
things better, and I've already lost it.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Well, you got a lot going on, there's a lot happening.
Final week of the regular season. What's left for the.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Jaguars, and probably more importantly, what's next for the Jaguars.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
We'll get into that coming up.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Baptist Health Entry Report, Doug Peterson, Joe coming up at
five o'clock. We're on ten to NEXTL ninety two two
point five f Ben, Jaguars dot Com, Jaguars YouTube, JP Shadwick,
Jeff Logoman, Happy.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
New Years, Happy New Year. It's hoping for a good
year once again. Twenty twenty four was a good year,
but a trying year, and I hope it's a lot
better than twenty twenty four. Jaguar Land. Yeah, that's that.
That Yeah, that's I think that's part of it, Yeah,
for sure. And I think twenty twenty five going forward,
I think that uh, you know, most importantly, I think

(01:28):
what a lot of Jaguar fans would like to have
as a little bit of clarity, you know, what future
holds and what this team can be and what's the
direction of this franchise and and uh, because you know,
one way or the other, you know, that's that's what
fans want. They want to know what's next, because I mean,
right now, I mean, is there really any interest in a.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Game that really doesn't have a whole lot of meaning
for much meaning at all, It has nothing to mean.
It stand for draft position.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
And then you know, and and look, you grasp on
this anything that you can have sometimes and and that
right now is an opportunity to have a winning record
in the division, an opportunity to sweep another division opponent,
and those things are all fine and dandy, But I
think in the grand scheme of things, I think, you know,
most fans want to see a team win and do well,
but they also want to know what.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
The future holds. Maybe we'll find out next week. We
don't know, I don't know, we don't know. Head coach
Duke Peterson earlier this week on the approach going into
the final week of a lost season.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
Well, obviously you're trying to win the game, bottom line,
you know, So the key is to make sure that
everybody stays locked in and focused on the task at hand, right,
I mean, that's the that's the most important thing. And
then and then you want your team to to, you know, uh,
prepare this week for that. I don't I don't necessarily

(02:52):
use it as developmental, you know, for anybody. I think
that you still go in and the guys that are
healthy and can play. But again, if if there's somebody
that's that's you know, dressing that is a younger player,
you might want to you want to get him in
and see what he can do.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
That's head coach Jirk Peterson. I mean, I guess at
this point, loges, how many true developmental.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Guys are there left that haven't done anything yet? Not many.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Well, I mean it's look, this is this is the NFL.
It's professional football.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
I mean, it's it's not like this is a farm team,
you know that's trying to grow good football players for
the future. I Mean, the reality is is that the
majority of the players that you have, you're utilizing already,
and some of the ones that aren't playing aren't playing
for a reason. Now, sometimes there are developmental players or
younger players that aren't playing that may be close to

(03:46):
being at the level of some of the guys that
are playing, and in the future you may sit there
and go, Okay, look, the reality is is that player
acts who we expect to move on from player Why
is a young player.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
That we have that we're hopeful for, excited for, Let's
let him go because he's close to where Player X is.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
I mean, that's really about it. I mean, it's not
like you can all of a sudden or you have
a JV team and hey, we're gonna go ahead and
just elevate the whole JV team and let them play
this week the B team game. It's not like you
have that, so, I mean, you know, it is what
it is. I mean, it's probably out out of the
entire roster, there's one guy. Deentre. Prince is a guy

(04:27):
that we haven't really seen yet. I mean, everyone else
we've seen to some extent at some point. Keeland Robinson
is another one. But Jefferson, George Jefferson played well last week.
I think I told you in weeks past. I like him.
I think he's strong, I think he's physical. He's very
tough at the point, and the reality is that somebody

(04:48):
has to go down for him to get up, whether
it's Tyler Lacy's Von Hamilton, one of those type of players,
because that's the position that he plays, kind of that
bigger defensive tackle, slash snows tackle. And I thought he
played well. Kudos to him. He played well. Secondary you
mentioned Prince, but I think you know, real quick, I
think it'd be a great argument JP to say, okay, well,

(05:12):
who's going to be the nose tackle going forward? Jordan Jefferson,
Devon Hamilton. That's an honest question, you know, and because
you know, you kind of compare the two similar players,
similar roles, similar traits, big strong, space eater kind of guy,

(05:34):
Devon Hamilton been around a little longer. But then you
also factor in, okay, pay, how much is one player
getting versus the other player. There's a there's a very
big difference in there, and at some point the economy
or the reality of economy and football has to be
looked at, and that's also something that has to be
taken into consideration, and that would be an honest question.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Devon Hamilton three year, thirty four and a half million
dollar tracked, and you know you could probably there's there's
still a dead cat money.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Next year. And also with Devaughan, is he playing to
that level?

Speaker 3 (06:11):
I mean, that's the question that you ask and and
I would say that, you know, since he's had the
back injury, he's been a solid player, but I don't
think he's been the player that you were expecting when
you gave him that contract. PR Production is the official

the Jaguars and the Colts coming up this Sunday at
Lucas Oil Stadium. We're on tjn XL ninety two point
five FM, Jaguars dot com and Jaguars YouTube.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
One young guy really playing well is Brian Thomas Junior.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Clearly, and he among the Jaguars players today that were
named as Pro Bowlers. Well, he's an alternate. He's the
first alternate wide receiver. Brian Thomas Junior congratulations to Logan Cook,
Jaguars punter, Ross Manisik Jaguars long snapper. They are starters
for the AFC of the Pro Bowl. Josh Heinz, Allen

(07:11):
Trevon Walker also named as alternates for the Pro Bowl.
So down the road, down road alternate. It's not like
first alternates or anything like fourth and fifth. It would
take a few defections for them to get in there.
But BTJ has a chance. But Logan Cook gets his
first nod in the Pro Bowl and russ Mannisick is
second year in a row deserving.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
You know, I think you could make the argument that
the Jaguars have the best three specialists in the National
Football League. And I'm being serious about that. I mean,
if you consider age performance, all of the above, I
would say that the Jaguars have the best three that

(07:50):
there is. Cam Little has had a wonderful year. If
you look at his field goal percentage, the Jaguars are
fourth in the National Football League with a field goal
percentage of my tiny two point three. And that's all
Cam Little. He's had a game winner when given the
opportunity last time against the Colts. Logan Cook is not
only an outstanding punter, but he's also a great holder

(08:11):
for cam Little. I remember a couple of years ago
talking to Joe de Kamillis, who's wonted arguably one of
the best special teams coaches in the National Football League
for years, has always said that Logan Cook is he
thought was the best holder in the National Football League.
And so when you have a young kicker that comes in,

(08:31):
to have somebody of that caliber is great. A snapper
of the caliber of Ross Madison also of the ability
for him to cover. Congratulations to those two guys and
very deserving, and sometimes when you play on a team
that's not very good, it's hard to get the recognition.
I'm glad they did.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Let's hear from Logan Cook just outside the Jaguars locker room.
Finally making it to the Pro Bowl.

Speaker 5 (08:54):
Ever since, of relief, just because I feel like I've
had a few seasons that were good enough. Again, all
part of God's timing, and that's something that I've had
to trust and it's kind of sometimes it's it's hard
to trust that, you know, But yeah, it all worked
out when it was supposed to work out.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
So I'm excited.

Speaker 5 (09:08):
I mean, I think statistically, yes, as of now know
we have one more game left. It was definitely by
far my best until Oakland just kind of down game,
which you know those are going to happen, and but
uh yeah, I think probably statistically probably one of my best.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
So that's Logan Cook. Of course, by Oakland, he means
Las Vegas, the Raiders. It happens to everybody from time
to time.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Everybody's a bad day to the off. The one thing
also about Logan which a lot of people don't think
of because they just say, okay, he's a punter. He
does the same thing over and over and over. He
literally has about five to seven different ways that he
punts a ball, whether it's the helicopter, the end over,

(09:49):
and the kick it deep spiral, get as much distance
as you can, a higher hang time, and it's very
i think difficult sometimes for return units to kind of
get a beat on what he's going to do. And
on top of that, he does a great job of
directional punting and also of angle kicking where the punt
is landing out of bounds and then he's getting a

(10:09):
really good spot and a net. You know, the only
guy that's ahead of him, I think in net punting
average in the National Football League I believe is Jack
Fox of the Detroit Lions, who was number one, and
Logan is number two in the National Football League and
net punting average and so well deserved there. Ross Mattisik
I thought should have been there last year. You could

(10:30):
make an argument that both of those guys should have
been there last year. Ross was well, I mean both
of them, and the combo exactly the combination of the
two of them. And because Ross last year, I think
he was like the highest rate of special teams player
on PMS. Right yeah, A bunch of tackles, fumble and
all that stuff, right yeah, I had a really strong

(10:50):
He had linebacker time in college at Palor, which helps
him obviously down the field tackling situations. So you have
to really account for him well. And the most important
thing of what he does is that he's good with snapping.
You know, okay, because all these other things don't matter.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Guess what the name of the position is, long snapper.
You might want to be good at that.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Well, it's actually just snapper, which I don't know if
he wants to be called that some some may take
offense with that term. But long snapper short snapper, because
back in the day there was a differentiation between the
two of them. Nowadays, because the player is protected on
short snapping. Now you can have a two hundred and
thirty pound and if you want to, a two hundred
pound guy doing the short snapping. Back in the day,

(11:31):
when they could line up two guys on the head
of the snapper, you weren't even thinking about a two
hundred and thirty pound guy doing the short snapping. But
now they protect him, which is smart, you know, it's
smart instead of having those guys just get crushed all
the time. But ross is great, his velocity is great,
his accuracy is great, and then a lot of people
don't realize this and when it comes excuse me to

(11:55):
short snapping. When the snapper snaps the ball, he literally
is trying to get the ball to rotate a certain
number of exact times so that when the holder catches
the ball, he catches it literally with the laces outward,
so all he has to do is place the ball
down and hold it with the one finger. A lot

(12:15):
of people don't realize that and think that they just
catch it and then they spin the ball before the
kicker kicks it. No, the whole idea of short snappiness
to have the ball spind perfectly once caught by the holder,
so all he has to do is place it, not
spin it whatsoever.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
Absolutely, and that's the case, and it's all these guys
work on all day long practices. Is that science behind that,
And you might get a handful of opportunities a game
to go execute. Well, hey, they don't know your name
until you don't exit, ye, until you mess it up,
until you mess it up. But yeah, it's a really
good threesome. And you know, those guys are always pretty unique,

(12:55):
you know, spending time with having spent time in locker
room with those guys, they have a lot more free
time than other guys. Uh, you know, for example, they're
not in meetings all day.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
They got a little bit of free time. I remember
one here in the early days we had Brian Barker
and Mike Hollis and they'd be out there with a
remote control cars in the parking lot, racing each other
and stuff. You're like, dud, why don't you get a
real job, do something like go hit the weight room
or you know, study film or but anyway, but it's yeah,

(13:29):
the congratulations of those guys, and Brian Thomas Junior, by
the way, real quick on him. A little disappointed to
some extent that he didn't make first team. He could argue, yeah,
he has better numbers than the two guys said Zay
Flowers and Nico Collins. He's got better numbers than both
of those guys. Nico Collins been hurt for a little bit.
But the Pro Bowl a lot of times, it takes

(13:51):
you two years to make it. One year to get
the recognition, the second year to get the votes.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
The starters in the AFCs, Mar Chase, Jerry Judy, he
knows who guys.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Are very deserving, and then you have Nicocollins and Zay
Zay Flowers almost said z Joe.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
I did yeah, very close. Right, there's only two days
that I know of. We're back in a moment and
we'll rewind log. We're gonna look back all the way
back to week five. What happened week five?

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Uh, that was the meeting with Indianapolis. It was it's
a long time ago. It was a long time.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
It seems like another season ago. We'll review it when
we come back. Kyle Stevens joins us in studio at
four point thirty today that at five o'clock the Doug
Peterson Show, we'll have the head coach in studio with
us and this is Jaguars Happy Hour.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
Yeah, they got more guys on defense back, you know,
than before. Obviously Jonathan Taylor, we know what he can
do and two weeks ago he was two hundred and
eighteen yards and about one hundred and twenty plus yards
this past weekend. I mean, just a solid running back.
You know, Anthony Richardson again, you know, he's he's rushed
for five hundred yards. You know this season, you know

(15:15):
a lot of it scrambles, but some of it's been lately,
some of it's been designed runs and you know, so
offensively they've changed Dunam you know a little bit you
know in that regard defensively these guys, you know, it's
again it's another good defensive front. You know, with ninety
and ninety nine coming off the ball, there are two

(15:37):
really good d tackles in this league. That that that
you know, present problems and you know our hands are
full there that.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
Chok Doug Peterson earlier this week discussing the Indianapolis Colts
who have been eliminated from playoff contention with their inexplicable
loss to the Giants last week. Welcome back, it's Jaguars
Happy Hour as we head into Week eighteen.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
Jap Shadwick with Jeff Logoman.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
We're at the Hyundai Studios of the middle of Electric
Center ten ten XL ninety two point five FM, Jaguars
dot Com and Jaguars YouTube. The Jaguars and the Colts
coming up one o'clock Sunday from Lucas Oil Stadium in
downtown Indianapolis. But way back in Week five, the Jaguars
hosted the Indianapolis.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
Colts and it was a wild win at the Bank.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
The Jaguars led twenty to ten at the start of
the fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
The Colts scored.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Twenty four fourth quarter points that it came down to
a field goal with seventeen seconds left. Cam Little from
forty nine yards hit the game winner. Tank Bigsby had
a big run. Brian Thomas Junior had really his big
breakout with an eighty five yard touchdown in the game.
Trevor Lawrence threw for three seventy one and two scores

(16:54):
and the Jaguars got their first win of the season
against the Colts team that was without Jonathan Taylor that day.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
The running back was inactive. And let's not forget about
the Jaguars defense nearly epic collapse at the end of
that game that allowed Indianapolis to score I think it
was fourteen points and ninety seconds. Alec Pearce had like
three catches for one hundred and forty plus yards at
the end of the game. I mean it was. It

(17:20):
shouldn't even have been a close contest. The way that
that thing ended was a huge disappointment, but nonetheless, because
it was the first win of the season, it was
a good feeling. But when you look back on it,
you go, how in the world can that happen? But
it did, and it looks like Joe Flacco is gonna
be back at the helm again.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
Yeah, Anthony Richardson didn't practice again today, So all right,
you know what's gonna happen. Joe Flacco is not gonna
run all over the yard, so he's gonna throw it
all over.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
The two things here. If I'm thinking about it from
a team standpoint, I want Anthony Richardson to be because
he's a sub fifty percent passer. He's only a legitimate
running threat. He hasn't figured out how to play quarterback,
and on top of that, he might tap out. Not
a bad thing. Okay, okay, but Joe Flacco is not

(18:17):
the best, most accurate passer in the world, but he
is aggressive, throws the ball down the field. If you
compare the numbers of Pittman and Alec Piers with ar
or with Joe Flacco, it's it's not even close. And
if you ask those two guys, they'd rather have Joe Flacco. Plan.

(18:37):
They scored a lot of points against the Giants last
week with Joe Flacco. It's just the Colts defense get
to that in a minute was abysmal. But if I'm
a pass rusher, okay, I want to have Joe Flacco
because I know he's going to pass number one, number two.
He's not going anywhere you know to be. So if
I'm Trayvon trying to get the double digits, sitting there

(18:58):
at nine and a half sacks, I want. If I'm
Josh hinz Allen trying to get a Jaguar team record
sacks in a career, I want Joe Flacco. If I'm
a Jaguars fan or Jaguars player, just in general, I
want Anthony Richardson, he he doesn't scare me. The only

(19:21):
thing that he worries me about is his ability to run.
But as a passer, the Indianapolis Colts guy seriously consider
moving on in the off season. And that's not a
good position to be in when you have a number
four overall pick in the second year that you're sitting
there maybe even thinking about that. I'm not saying they

(19:41):
are of thinking about that, but I guarantee a lot
of them are thinking about that, and that we least
have to maybe have some kind of alternative plan because
right now it's not looking good. And here's a crazy
number for you. Anthony Richardson has started fifteen out of
a possible thirty three games so far. That means eighteen
games he was injured and did not play. Okay, Now,

(20:05):
out of those fifteen games.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
He didn't finish five of them.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Seriously, So he's played ten games in their entirety out
of a possible thirty three games so far in his career.
And it looks like he's not going to play this week,
so it's going to be ten out of a possible
thirty four in his career. That's not a good place
to be and when he's been out there.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
To your point about his passing numbers among thirty four
qualified quarterbacks this year, he's last in the league in
completion percentage forty eight percent, last in the league and touchdout.
What was that percentage again? Eight you're saying below fifty
percent forty eight is last I checked below fifty Yes,
eight touchdowns twelve interceptions at ratio is last passer rating

(20:54):
of sixty one point six, last in the league for
Anthony da.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
That's not good. But he hadn't practiced yet this week.
It doesn't look like he's going to be playing, and uh,
you know, his head coach kind of left him out
to dry a little bit last week when he was
talking about him and his injury. He kind of said, well, he's,
you know, back his sore. He's not practicing. You know,
we'll see about whether or not he's going to play.

(21:20):
He left the team out to dry sometime. Yeah, it's
my point. It's so a lot of people were thinking
that he was tapping out again, and then Anthony Richardson
came out I guess and responded said that, look, I
couldn't even stand up on Tuesday. I've got a disc issue.
They're saying that it doesn't need surgery, but it still

(21:40):
it just doesn't look good.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
And then Pat McAfee got involved with the whole tap
out slash podcast thing. There was a podcast issue with Zire.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
Franklin and E. J. Speed. They're doing a podcast with
the Colts, and those kind of things can be very dangerous,
you know, when you want to kind of become stars
or whatever, then all of a sudden you start making
comments about other players and other teams, and then all
of a sudden, karma happens and all of a sudden
it bite you.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
You just kept your when you played, you kept your
off the you know, not just regular locker room media, right,
you did your media in the outdoors space, So you
kept it away from football.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Well I did. I did a weekly football show football TV. Yeah. Yeah,
I was a part of a show with Sam Kovars
when I was playing. But you know, there you have
to understand that, look, everything that you say can be
scrutinized and be reprinted, re said, shown to the opponents,

(22:42):
especially today in this day and age, and just flip
it around in ten seconds and have it out there.
So you can do things like that. But you just
have to be respectful and also understanding that your words
may end up coming back to haunt you if you
if you're not careful. And e J. Speedsire Franklin without

(23:03):
going into great detail, but if folks, if you want
to be entertained. It was from The Athletic, which is
the New York Times. The guy wrote an article about
some of the things that are going on with the
Indianapolis Cults organization, from the head coach to Pat McAfee,
to the podcast gate to Anthony Richardson. I mean, it's
just it describes the organization in an absolute state of disarray.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
One guy that has not been in disarray lately is
Jonathan Taylor, the running back over the last three games,
four hundred and fifty yards rushing and multiple touchdowns the
last two weeks for him warming up towards the end
of the season. He did not play in the first
matchup this year, but we know firsthand what he can
do if given the opportunity to break free. He had

(23:50):
a two hundred and fifty three yard game against this
team way back in twenty twenty. That has been a while,
but thanks for that remind And he's been inactive he
hasn't played against the Jaguars but once over the last
four meetings.

Speaker 2 (24:04):
Well, his average is still pretty good even though he
doesn't play those games.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
Right, he didn't play this year, He missed the first meeting,
last year, missed the second meeting in twenty twenty two.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
He's hot right now. Yeah, three and forty three yards
rushing in the last two weeks. And I know you
alluded to the five touchdowns. Those have both been in
the last two weeks. And with one more touchdown, he
is gonna break the Colts franchise record for most touchdowns
in a person's first five years of a career, which, oh,
by the way, Lenny Moore, the Hall of Famer, has

(24:34):
that record for the Colts. Colts and going back quite
some time to the Baltimore days, I'd say so. I mean, look,
he's a great player, and it's a good offensive line
that's up up front. They've had some injury issues up
front with the Colts offensive line. When the Jaguars met
them in Week five, many considered them one of the

(24:55):
top three offensive lines in football, right up there with
the Philadelphia Eagles. Who else would be up there at
the top. I'm trying to think Philadelphia Eagles what we're
talking about, best offensive lines in football. Ravens. Ravens aren't
kind of up there a little bit.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
Cowboys, but they're hurt. They've kind of fallen off a
little bit.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
But the Colts were considered, I think top two, top
three in the National Football League now kind of dropped
a little bit because they've had a lot of injuries,
but it's still a good offensive line. Kelly's back in
the lineup at center, Quentin Nelson's playing really well at
left guard. The left tackle, Ryman's a good football player.
They've got a rookie playing right tackle. They got Glewinsky

(25:43):
back at right guard who has been was hurt earlier
in the year, so they're settling back in. One of
the reasons why they have all the yards rushing that
they do in the last two games has been the
performance of that group pretty good.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
Let's come back in a moment. We'll hear more from
head coach Doug Peterson and Kinnannie Steven, Jaguars reporter, will
join us in studio ahead of Week eighteen, the Jaguars.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
And the Indianapolis Colts coming up.

This is Jaguars Happy Hour.

Speaker 4 (26:40):
But when those two guys are playing and playing at
a high level, that makes it hard on quarterbacks. It
makes it hard on offensive linemen, tackles, and you know,
this year coming in kind of learning a new scheme,
some new technique things takes a little time, you know,
and they're they're they're working through that as the season
has gone on, and you know, but you get in

(27:03):
those known passing situations, you just want to cut these
guys loose and let them go play.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
Head coach Doug Peterson this week discussing Josh Heines Allen
and Trey Von Walker, both are Pro Bowl alternates announced
today fourth and fifth heins Allen and Walker, respectively, Welcome back.
It's Jaguars Happy Hour for the Honday Studios ten Texel
ninety two point five FM, Jaguars dot Com, Jaguars YouTube,
all the Places, JP Shadwick, Jeff Logoman, and every week

(27:33):
at four thirty Kay Nannie Stevens in studio, good.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
Afternoon, every week.

Speaker 6 (27:37):
Week eighteen.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
This is our last one.

Speaker 6 (27:40):
I think this is our last one for a little while.
I think so for a little bit. This feels like
a long season. Has it felt like a long season?

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Anyone else? Snail's pace this thing?

Speaker 6 (27:49):
Gosh?

Speaker 2 (27:50):
Yeah, how many weeks have team been out of contentionention?
Mathematically eliminated five weeks at least five or six, five
or six something like that. It felt like longer than that.

Speaker 6 (28:00):
I think technicalities right for a while, right, I mean you.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
Know when you have a one percent or.

Speaker 6 (28:05):
Five percent the Houston game, right, and then like technically
the next week we were still in him, but not
really once we lost the Houston game, Yeah yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
We could have like won them all and everybody else
loses them all and snuck in back like five weeks
left or something. So you're saying there's a chance, yeah,
no chance flies of a movie of all time excellent.
So here we are, Week eighteen, Jaguars Colts Rematch You
know JAG's got him back in Week five. Anthony Richardson
didn't play in that game, either did Jonathan Taylor, who

(28:35):
is back and is rolling right now. So I guess
that's the number one priority on defense is don't let
him get.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
Loose this week.

Speaker 6 (28:42):
Yeah, and obviously Jonathan Tilor has been a huge problem
for this defense when he is played and been healthy,
so that is a concern. I'm my mentality for this
will be a little bit of where the effort's going
to be at as much as it was last week
with the Titans, like kind of who wants to play,
who wants to win this game? Obviously, the Jaguars had
a lot of younger play that are out there trying
to make a name for themselves, haven't got a lot

(29:02):
to playing time maybe earlier in the season, so they're
trying to do a little something. Titans really kind of
laiden egg last week. I mean, I'm not the Titans.
This sees me the culture really laden egg last week.
So I don't know what that's gonna look like this week. Essentially,
what I'm saying, if it's the same kind of effort,
then I think the jag should be fine. But yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
Look, I'll mean the Jet Look Jaguars had one like
that last year against Tennessee. Yep, okay, yeah, then.

Speaker 6 (29:27):
The season you know, or even along that whole stretch
in the back end the Tampa Bay game on Christmas
Eve that was terrible. There was a lot of bad ones.
So it uh, we've obviously been there before. We understand that,
I Will says, as we've been talking, they've been out
of contention for a bit, but you've still seen that effort.
And maybe that's because of so many younger players playing.
But again, I think a lot of it will be

(29:48):
I think you'll be able to tell around and kick
off what it might end up looking like.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
I'm wondering how you know the cults are going to
bounce back after that, right.

Speaker 6 (29:57):
Because it's not like there's even oh hey, let's kind
of regroup the last month. This is their last game.
So if that was the effort you put out last week, I.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
Don't know a lot of conversation going on it. And
first thing that really stood out to me was, all
of a sudden, the practice report on the easier report
for the Colt was an estimation on Wednesday because they
didn't practice. Who the hell doesn't.

Speaker 6 (30:18):
Practice after that showing?

Speaker 2 (30:20):
I mean, are you I was shocked, shocked and I
don't know, I mean didn't where they maybe a little
hungover from New Year's Eve, you know, party a little
bit too much. Maybe they gave them like a little
day to rehab. And if I'm the coach, I hope
that it wasn't. Hey guys, we're just gonna have a
walk through Wednesday, so you know, make your players think

(30:44):
of a known now they're like, here we go, let's
bring in the new year. Would you got a CanCon
or Cabo if you were trying to like mail it in.

Speaker 6 (30:53):
I believe Cobo's the new right away.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
It's a long flight, I think, sure.

Speaker 6 (30:59):
But then you're a little more ice because you're fright
away from people. Cankuon's a little more populated.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
I imagine Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Mexico.

Speaker 6 (31:05):
I don't know it's your preference point, or do you
go Caribbean? You know, Turks and Caicos something like that.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
Maybe way way way prefer that Turks and Caicos amazing
rather bring in the New Year there, you know they
what do they say about Cabo and what's the other
one you gave Alter Canon Can Coon.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
Can Coon before, and I might need to go to
Cancun right now so I can lose some weight.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
Oh it's one of those.

Speaker 3 (31:32):
Okay, if you're if you're Onna Zuma's I'm aware, thank you.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
Yeah, don't you didn'trink the water? Yeah? I didn't drink
the water. I'd brush my teeth.

Speaker 3 (31:41):

Speaker 2 (32:07):
If you're pointing at so, so, I kind of flashback
here because the last last, well, the last time I
was in Cancun. This is kind of funny. Do you
guys remember the on ABC Sports? Right, I mean on Saturdays,
ABC's Wild Wild World Sports. Do you remember the Superstars faintly?

(32:30):
You guys are too young to remember the Superstars. My goodness,
really okay? Anyway, tell us.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
Obviously Superstars was kind of this thing to where they
had athletes from all all across the spectrum, football, baseball,
track athletes, and they would bring them all together and
they competed in the Superstars. So they would have different events,
you know, advice.

Speaker 6 (32:57):
So not their own events like other San Kayak.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
I don't know all kinds of things. I was there.
You were in the repete Superstar in.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
The Superstars you do back in like ninety I want
to say it was winner of ninety two?

Speaker 6 (33:15):
Was it deer hunting?

Speaker 3 (33:16):
No, they didn't have any that I would have won
that second, but I did win the kayak paddling contest.

Speaker 6 (33:22):
Excellent. Who did you be? Do you recall?

Speaker 2 (33:25):
Well? I mean look, I mean if if you've ever fished,
you know how to paddle a boat and keep it
going straight. And these guys couldn't keep the amateur you know,
it wasn't it was a kayak. I think it was
a robot. Who else was in the field? Who's who
would you be? Christian Okoye? I'd have to sit there
and think. Brian Jordan baseball player to two sports star.

(33:47):
There was a track athlete there. I'd have to go
back and look, but it was yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
And that's where I ended up getting a little fill
in the stomach.

Speaker 6 (33:57):
And well, I mean, you were paddling, so maybe it
was awesome.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
Wait I was.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
I was partying a little bit too fire. Remember you
were in bed by eight thirty every night.

Speaker 6 (34:07):
I had some ice. We had some ice in those drinks.

Speaker 3 (34:10):
Yeah, that might have been too Yeah, yeah, all those
ice filled drinks.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
Yeah. Uh huh. Jaguars have pro bowlers.

Speaker 6 (34:19):
Kay, they sure do. Pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (34:22):
You heard from Logan Cooke earlier. We'll hear from Ross
Madison coming up in a little bit. The Jaguars long
snapper and.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
Putter are in.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
There are three alternates as well, Ryan Thomas Junior, Josh
Ans Allen, Trayvon Walker. But I mean we've talked about
punters and long snappers in.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
The show already.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
But there's a reason that Ross Mattiss going back and
a reason why Logan Cook's finally.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
Getting is not.

Speaker 6 (34:45):
There are concerns I have about this team on most
facets of this most fastest facets of the game, but
special teams is not one of them. I'm happy that
the specialists are being recognized. Obviously, if you don't say
the long snappers seam, that's a good thing. And we
don't talk about ross at so that's good. And then
Logan's just obviously very gifted at what he's able to
do in his specific placement of the football. We've seen

(35:06):
a ton of that over the years, and unfortunately he's
punched a lot this year, so we've seen that quite
a bit. And uh, yeah, I'm just happy for them.
That's great. Hopefully, Brian Thomas, I believe, is one of
the first alternates, so if someone decides not to go,
we should see him in as well. Yeah, be really great.
We'll make it, I think so, I mean always even
I think because at least three of the four I
think ron playoff teams. So by just by that, I

(35:27):
mean most people usually opt out because.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
If I'm Jamar.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
Chase, I'm not going to risking I'm not going to that,
I'm not risking getting any.

Speaker 6 (35:34):
It's a long season, you're tired at that point. They
don't do it after the season anymore.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
It's now you don't have a big contract yet. Yeah,
I mean, that's a no brainer for Jamar Chase to
opt out on that. No way.

Speaker 3 (35:44):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
I mean if you're in your first year of a
contract like Brian Thomas Junior, it's different. But Jamar Chase
is getting ready to get paid thirty one thirty two
million dollars a year. Yeah, are you going to put
thirty two million dollars a year?

Speaker 6 (35:58):
Nope, We'll take the nod and just stay home.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
No, no, you take your Pro Bowl. You can have it.

Speaker 6 (36:05):
Anymore. Right, it's like football now or what is it?
I agree. I'm just saying like in terms of actually
going to the risk of from what I recall, it
was interesting.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
I've got some our crack research staff has gone back
and looked at the Superstars results from nineteen ninety two.

Speaker 2 (36:23):
Mike Powell, I just remembered his name. Yeah, you didn't
win a darn thing.

Speaker 6 (36:29):
No, was I lied?

Speaker 2 (36:33):
No?

Speaker 6 (36:34):
No?

Speaker 2 (36:34):
You did what not?

Speaker 3 (36:35):
In the kayaking Mike Powell won it? You finished eighth? Yeah,
now this is all combined. Yeah, that's yeah, what are
you talking about? I won the paddling event. That's all great,
that's great, But I will tell you I did.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
The swimming thing, and I remember this, and so you know,
every day there were certain events and if you won
the mall, so.

Speaker 6 (37:02):
It just fine. He won every event.

Speaker 3 (37:04):
I overslept, so I literally I wake up and I
looked at my watch and I went.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
And I didn't say, oh my god, something else. Oh
my god. I've got to be down at the pool.
In like ten minutes the race starts, and so there
I go. I got hair laying sideways, got major bed ed,
was out very late the night before. You have a
very bad influence from gosh, the tight end from Kansas

(37:32):
City that hung out with Pakoy.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
Me and him were hanging out. Anyway, I get down
to the pool, I start swimming at the you know,
the snap of the gun. I almost drowned at a
five foot pool. Yeah, it was not good. It was
not a good swimming effort. I might have had to
put my feet on the bottom of the pool to
make it back.

Speaker 6 (37:55):
To Just stand up, Jeff, please stand up.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
Yeah, here's the By the way, you finished second in weightlifting,
yes to Seth Joyner. Yeah, Seth Joyner, by the way,
great linebacker Philadelphia Eagles blitzing guy. Uh, super good dude too.
I got your third and kayaking. No, it's what the
website says.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
Maybe I won my heat. We're talking all right, we
got there.

Speaker 3 (38:25):
Hey, Jaguars all access tonight. We need to put him
through some obstacle courses or something.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
What do you got? Who are the guests.

we'll have the two pro bowlers and also came little
with us as well.

Speaker 2 (38:40):

Speaker 6 (38:41):
Hour long Jeff for you, they would do anything. I
am sure, sure, mission I don't. I don't think I
have it in me because Jeff brought in venice and
chili today. I'm very fool.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
It was really good, really good. Thank the wife, not me,
my wife. Thanks to amazing cook, amazing always.

Speaker 6 (38:55):
Thanks to Tara always.

Speaker 2 (38:56):

Speaker 3 (39:00):

up it's right there between.

have the head coaching studio Doug Peterson with us for
the Doug Peterson Show on the Jaguars Radio Network.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
This is Jaguars Happy Hour.

Speaker 7 (39:45):
I get a lot of credit for tackles, but I
really prided myself on just getting the bottle lo again
the right location and doing my job in protection in
this scheme, and I was just kind of doing your
job and you kind of go unoticed until you get noticed,
which is kind of cool. I take pride in it.
You know your job, you know, playing linebacker and Callee
definitely helping my ability to cover downfield. And then you know,
after you being in the league for a few years,

(40:06):
you kind of get some you know, a little tricks
from guys like Dewey and DT, guys that I've covered
a lot of punts and a lot of kickoffs in
the league, and you kind of you kind of learn
from them. Really, you learn from your teammates and learn
from watching film and you kind of figure out, you know,
what kind of player you want to be and are
you gonna be a savvy guy, You're gonna be a
speed guy, You're gonna be an effort guy, and uh,
you know you kind of just Belgian repertoire of tools

(40:27):
to use in coverage. And I feel like I've been
a pretty good job got through in my career.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
That's ross Manisick. Pro Bowl long snapper for the second
year in a row.

Speaker 3 (40:36):
Last season he was the first team Associated Press All
Pro selection.

Speaker 2 (40:40):
We'll see what happens there this year.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
Last year, a bunch of tackles had a force fumble
and a recovery and some highlight plays a season ago.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
That's ross Manisick.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
He'll be one of the guests tonight on Jaguars All
Access Television. Welcome Back is Jaguars Happy Hour from the
Hyundai Studios ten to Excel ninety two point five FM,
Jaguars dot Com and Jaguars YouTube JP Shadrick, Jeff Logeman
Our thanks to Kay Nannie Stevens. In time now for
the Baptist Health Injury Report Baptist Health changing health care

(41:11):
for Good.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
We start with the Jaguars.

Speaker 3 (41:12):
Walker Little did not practice, already called done for the year.
He won't play at left tackle, so colv and Landon
will go there again. Ezra Cleveland with an e issue
limited both days the left guard Ventrel Miller ankle injury limited.

Speaker 2 (41:26):
Both days so far.

Speaker 3 (41:29):
Darnell Savage, out of the concussion protocol, went full today
after limited Wednesday. The jag safety we'll see where he
kind of works into the organization on the back of
the defense coming up this week, and then Brandon Sheriff heads, shoulders, knees,
and toes limited again on Thursday. Guys, I gotta give
some credit to the old guys, which Mitch Moore some

(41:52):
Brandon Sheriff, Yeah, right, I think Brandon Sheriff had his
best year as a Jaguar yet, which kudos to him.
Got more physical this year, I think than he's ever been,
and like everybody, he's battled through a lot of injuries,
and I just want to make sure that everybody understands
everybody battles stuff.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
Mitch Morris also, I mean we have here. You got
two guys that are in double digits in years of
being in the National Football League and to make it
through a complete season and play all the games, I mean,
that's impressive. So kudos to those two guys because they
have been very consistent and one of the reasons why
the Jaguars offensive line, who I think has been the

(42:35):
most improved position group of the year. Colts have five
players on the list, but four of them have been
full both days this week. That includes cornerback Julius Brentz,
wide receiver Josh Downs, guard Quinton Nelson, and wide receiver
Michael Pittman, with the respective injuries both full. Anthony Richardson,

(42:56):
though with a back issue, has not practiced yesterday or today,
so that's not a good trend for him moving forward
into this game.

Speaker 1 (43:04):
Now.

Speaker 2 (43:04):
The crazy thing is that he's going to have to
forever live with the tap out, and so any time
there is ever an injury that is that he is
dealing with, people are gonna say, oh, is he just
tapping out? I mean right, And that's just the way
it is. He's the one who made the decision of

(43:24):
doing that. Never seen a quarterback do that, have you?

Speaker 3 (43:28):
I don't remember it unless there's like a real injury
or something something more than I'm out of brath.

Speaker 2 (43:33):
No, you might see a quarterback do one of these
saying I'm hurt, please come out here and help me,
but not tap in your helmet because I'm tired. Terrible.
By the way, speaking of injuries, the last time that
the Jaguars played the Colts, there were a lot of
injuries that the Colts had. First of all, Kelly the

(43:55):
center didn't play in that ball game, but for the
most part, the Colts offense was healthy in that ball game. Kennymore,
their nickelback, was not available in that game. Quit he
pay did not play. To force Buckner, who is the
best defensive tackle for the Colts, definitely, you could make

(44:16):
the argument he's one of the two best defensive tackles
in the AFC South, did not play in that game.
He was on injured reserve. So those guys look all.

Speaker 3 (44:26):
To be available this week, So it's gonna be a
little bit different, a little bit more of a challenge
than it was the last time around. The Jaguars currently
hold the number five spot in the twenty twenty five
NFL Draft order, and there are four teams ahead of them,
all at three and thirteen. Even if all four were

(44:48):
to win this week and the Jaguars lose, they would
still have a higher strength to schedule than the Patriots.
So the highest the Jags could go in theory would
be second. Yes, if they were to win or other
ones have to win and the rest happen to. Yeah,
Jaguars have the worst strength of schedule. In other words,
their opponents have a very bad win loss record, So

(45:11):
the Jaguars would go to the front of the line,
so to speak, on the draft pick if the records
were the same as everybody else, with the exception of
the New England Patriots, because that.

Speaker 2 (45:21):
Records would be the same that they have a worst
strength of schedule.

Speaker 3 (45:24):
So if they win, they're going to end up somewhere eight, nine, ten,
somewhere in that range, because they're going to be again
at the bottom of the wrung or first in line
to pick because of strength of schedule with other teams
that would have a similar record of five wins. Jaguars
have made eight picks in the top five overall since
twenty ten, the most in the National Football League in

(45:45):
that span.

Speaker 2 (45:46):
That's not a good number. Not a good number. Can
you name them since twenty ten? Let's see Blaine Gabbert's
in there right. It's tough. I was actually looking at
this earlier in the day. I'm gonna have to pull
it up again.

Speaker 3 (46:03):
Okay, I can give you twenty twelve, obviously, justin Blackman, Yes,
twenty thirteen would have been a Luke Jokal Twenty fourteen
would have been what Blake portals?

Speaker 2 (46:16):
Right? I think he was right at five, wasn't he? Yeah?
And No. Three? And then twenty fifteen would have been
is that Dante, Yeah, that's the right, Dante Fowler.

Speaker 3 (46:27):
Dante Fowler twenty sixteen would have been Jalen Ramsey right correct,
twenty seventeen Fournette. Twenty eighteen was late because they weren't
in the top ten that year. Was they wanted twenty seventeen.

Speaker 2 (46:48):
Let's see, I'm gonna go back here and start at
the beginning, just so that people can can remember exactly
who we're going back to. Ten.

Speaker 3 (46:55):
Ten, okay, Ten was Tyson on a lot of tenth overall,
that's right, and then eleven was everyone was playing Gabbert.

Speaker 2 (47:01):
Yeah, he was tenth overall. Right, So far was twenty
twelve Justin Blackman at five correct. Thirteen was Luke Jocoalle
at number two overall, got that one. Fourteen was Blake
Borderal's at number three overall, got the Dante Fowler in
fifteen was three overall, and sixteen Jalen Ramsey was fifth overall.

(47:23):
Leonard Fournette and seventeen, was fourth overall, could have had
Patrick Mahomes there, Tavian Bryan he was late though, it
was twenty ninth. That's right end of the first round.
Josh heinz Allen in nineteen seventh overall, twenty twenty.

Speaker 5 (47:40):
C J.

Speaker 2 (47:40):
Henderson. Is he even playing in the league anymore? I
don't think he's been active. He's been hurt. Ye. He
was ninth overall twenty twenty one. Obviously, Trevor twenty twenty two,
Trayvon obviously. CJ.

Speaker 3 (47:53):
Henderson's with the Steelers currently, but practice squad or active
rocks active. He's been dinged up.

Speaker 2 (47:59):
Yeah, And then twenty twenty three Anton Harrison and then
twenty four Brian Thomas Junior. Pretty amazing that Brian Thomas
Junior the twenty third overall pick. One of the great
draft picks in Jaguars history so far. It's early, but
let's not forget too that they traded back twice.

Speaker 3 (48:17):
We did, And that also goes to the point that,
all right, you can get good players if you pick
good players in any part of this round or other
rounds too. Good players exist in most of the top
rounds of the NFL draft, and even the deeper rounds,
you can find a gym. But as long as you
pick the guy that's right for you in the organization

(48:38):
and they for the and they're a good player, then
you've got a good player.

Speaker 2 (48:42):
But for the one position, it's different. I mean, if
you look at the history of the quarterback position in
the draft, you've got to be at the top or
near the top to be able to get what many
consider to be an elite player. Now, look, there are
outliers to that. Patrick Mahomes was not top pick. Aaron
Rodgers was not a high first round pick. Lamar Lamar

(49:06):
was again a late first round pick. Yeah, which was
Jaguars cut had him too. By the way, where was
Josh Allen? Was he three? I'm trying to remember where
he was because if you look like the great quarterbacks
of today, Patrick Mahomes, where was he at like twelve, fourteen,
middle of the round something like that?

Speaker 3 (49:29):
Josh Allen? Allen was seventh, seventh, there's another one not
in the top five. I mean, it's just shocking. Gosh,
who else, uh, top quarterbacks in the league of today?

Speaker 2 (49:41):
Yeah, Lamar was the same year as Josh Allen.

Speaker 3 (49:44):
Let's look at it. From the standpoint of passer rating. Okay,
just out of curiosity. Better hurry, I know, I know,
