Speaker 1 (00:04):
Welcome to another episode of the Game Preview Podcast presented
by LifeLock Jets, Browns.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Thursday Night Football.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Feels like it's very late in the year for a
little Thursday Night football action. For the Jets have never
played this late in the regular season on TNF, but
the last year we are.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
The Jets coming off a.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Thrilling thirty eight to twenty thirty eight thirty to twenty
eight win over the Washington Commander Cynthia Freeland in the House,
John Polano in the House. No coach Sala this week
because of the quick turnaround. He needs to do what
he's got to do.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Behind closing coach the team.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
He needs the team.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
He always does, but you know, sometimes he carves out
a little time for us. This time he couldn't make
it into a schedule, which I'm sure a lot of
fans are probably listening to, like, that's right, you're coaching
the team.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Here we go. That's my coach, that's you, that's my coach,
my guy, Yeah, that's your guy.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
Perfect.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Well.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
The Brown's also coming off a pretty i wantn't say
a big win, but points wise, big win over thirty points.
Joe Flacco at the Helm and we're gonna break this
all down, but since it's a short week, let's dive
right into it. John Pilano, your bat lead off again.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
I'm excited. Yeah, I gotta I gotta rep under my belt.
So you do such a.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Good job batt and leadoff last week that you've earned
the leadoff spot again.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
That that really my heart. I'm my heart's full.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Yeah, you might not have been the world's best baseball player,
but you're still a pretty good leadoff batter here in
the game preview pots.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
I'll take him.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
My podcast skills are better than my my hitting schools.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Fair enough. What about bunting, Yeah, it's very important. I'm
pretty quick, so I feel like as long as I
can get it down, I can get the.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
First Okay, you got it. That sounds like an inexperienced bunter. No,
never mind, All right, here we go.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
All right, So we are headed to I love Cleveland.
I'm from upstate New York, so we always.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Felt let about people from upstate New York and the
Midwest that love Cleveland.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah, I mean, first off, I said upstate. That was
my fault.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
I'm from western New York, so I'm from Rochester, which
is near Buffalo, near Cleveland. I think we all kind
of band together where we all just get pounded by snow.
And I just love Cleveland so much, in particular the
fact that they have a section of their stands called
the dog Pound. Of course, I know you all know
that it's just the absolute best and as a dog
owner myself, and I know Cynthia is a dog owner herself.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
I know Ethan you like dogs, but I like dogs.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Okay, I'm not a don't I'm gonna, I'm gonna what's
it called poka, I'm trying to find a little cale here. Yeah,
do you own the dog or do your parents own
the dog?

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Okay, that's tough man, the dog.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
I currently live with a dog. Yes, that Cynthia is
the only true dog owner. You grew up with dogs? Yes,
I did not grow up with dogs. Yes, my mom
is terrified. She is about five foot tall. Terrified of
dogs and animals in general, any animal. It could be
the world's smallest animal. Scared of it, scared of it.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
Yeah, we can't all have a Gordy like Cynthia. But
shout out to Harrison, who's my personal dog.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
I lived with a dog before, though, what one of
my old roommates had a dog, Miya.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
She's fantastic.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Yes, we've heard about Mia. We love Mia.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Yeah, I love See, we do love me. So are
a bunch of dog lovers? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Here, Well, so the Jets are going to play in
front of the dog pound. So again I have my
three matchups for you guys, because I just love matchups.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
It's my favorite thing.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
And I want you to, in the spirit of the meme,
who has that dog in them? I want you to
pick who on this side of the matchup is going
to have this dog in them come game day?

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Okay, love it all right? Awesome?

Speaker 4 (03:30):
We will start first with David and Joku, the Browns
tight end versus the Jets linebackers and safeties. So obviously
the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback right now is Joe Flacco,
their fourth starter of this year. But in Joku's stats
with Flaco versus without Flacco are absolutely crazy. Since Flacco
took over a week thirteen, he has four touchdowns, two

(03:50):
hundred and fifty six yards and twenty four receptions in
the eleven games. Prior pre Flaco, he had total two
total touchdowns. So just Cynthia from what you know, I
know you do a lot of stuff with the Cleveland Browns.
How has Flacco both opened up this offense for in
djoku and for just the entire offense in general.

Speaker 5 (04:08):
Well, they're using in Joku in opportunities to earn yards
after the catch. In fact, he leads all tight ends
and yards after the catch, and he has for since
basically Week fourteen when Joe Flacco took over. So it's
interesting because they're not really running, they're kind of running him.
How we're used to Travis Kelcey running with a lot
of the different looks, like as a wide receiver. Sure,

(04:29):
he's always a tight end, but if they line him
up as a wide receiver, maybe he's a wide receiver too.
Who knows, but I think that that's a it's a
huge matchup advantage for him because of the way that
they're scheming open. Remember, their O line has been super
bangs up. They've had a lot of different combinations of
a line that's maybe probably another question, but.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
That's been an issue. And putting in.

Speaker 5 (04:47):
Djoku in different situations to disguise some of that has
helped mitigate some of their tackle woes.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Yeah, And between Djoku and obviously Amari Cooper. They've had
some good weapons this here. Mario obviously went at sloop
berserk last week eleven catches two or sixty five yards
and two touchdowns. But he's gonna be going against that
Jet's second ranked pass defense in yards and touchdowns. Ethan
in your mind, who draws that matchup in the middle
against Djoko?

Speaker 1 (05:13):
I feel like it's got to be Quincy Williams mostly.
I mean he's got the speed for sure. He's I
haven't looked this week, but he was PFF's number one
coverage linebacker, So if you're a PFF believer, that obviously
bodeswell for you. He just had an interception last week
against the Commanders.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Which he called.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
By the way, if you have not seen the clip
on Twitter or Instagram, go check it out. Basically, Quincy
was micd up and he's like, I'm gonna get myself
a pick.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
I need one. I need one.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
He gets it and then he yells, I stole Christmas,
And you know what, good for him. He's been a
fantastic player this year. He's done a great job in
coverage specifically, and Quincy Williams talked about having the speed
like in prior matchups to match up with running backs
like Rahem Moster Devon a Chan to me, those two's
got speed to burns actually in coverage, so and Djoku

(06:01):
to me, you're probably looking at Quincy Williams.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
All right, all right, I just think it's interesting that
the Just defense has been so good this year. They've
allowed sixteen total passing touchdowns. Seven of them have been
to tight ends, which is just a little bizarre that,
like they're almost allowing as ma touchdowns of tight ends
as they are running backs and receivers. So, Cynthia, you
can answer this one first, which side has that dog
in them?

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Well? Which one between between.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
Which like the basically Cleveland passing offense and Joku versus
the Jets linebackers and safeties.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
Okay, so here's what I'm gonna tell you. The Jets
are a low blitzing team. Nineteen point one percent of
all passing downs they've brought the blitz, which is the
second lowest rate in the NFL. Yet they have the
third highest pressure rate forty one point nine. So you're
able to drop seven into coverage, You're able to create
different mismatches.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
This isn't like this.

Speaker 5 (06:52):
World beater of a I mean, we've got Amari Cooper sure,
and those vertical routes are gonna be something that needs
to be attended to. David and Jok who has been
really interesting as well. But it's not like they have
seven different guys. It's not like Miami with like a
ton of different guys who could all be a threat
of these vertical routes in every single down. So I
actually think that the Jets defense has a bit of

(07:12):
an advantage here.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
I will say in Jok, who's the question mark?

Speaker 5 (07:15):
Though for me a little bit more than some of
the other people because of the fact that there's this
weird tight end situation in the red zone where the
Jets have had a vulnerability.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Yeah, I want to say, like, I'm just looking it
up here in terms of the PFF stuff, because I
was curious the two top linebackers in terms of coverage
grade among players who have taken a minimum of eighty
percent of the snaps. Number one remains Quincy Williams. He's
the only linebacker in the NFL who's broken ninety He's
at ninety point three. Number two in the NFL is CJ.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Moseley. So if the.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Jets if there were ever a linebacking corps to be
well equipped to cover David and Joku. To me, it's
this core I understand, like I don't cover all thirty
two teams as linebackers with a fine tooth comb, like
I cover Quincy and CJ. But PFF has them the
two top graded coverage guys. I think that stands for something.

(08:13):
I think Cynthia's made it a great point about David
and Joku. And look, when you have the Jets secondary
with Sauce and DJ Reid, and to Cynthia's point, you
obviously have to watch out for a Mari Cooper. To me,
if I'm Joe Flacco and you're like, okay, like those
guys most likely gonna be covered more times than not.
I'm looking at David and Joku because maybe they're gonna

(08:34):
they're gonna try to design a play where somebody else
is gonna have to cover number eighty five the chief
great nickname for David and Joku, by the way, who's
just had an incredible story with the whole Burns thing.
I mean, it's crazy to think to me that he
that he's playing at such a high level so quickly
after like burning his face office, which is crazy.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
I think that I'm gonna lean towards the Jets.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
I think this game in general is probably going to
be a low scoring game with both defenses playing at
an elite level. And I do think you have to
beware of what joke Who's been doing though over the
past four weeks specifically.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
Yeah, so we it seems like as a group we
like the Jets defense in this matchup, which is which
is promising going into it, especially not a short week.
All right, next match up, We're gonna completely flip to
the other side. I want to talk about the Jets offense,
but I specifically want to talk about their Jets offensive rookies,
because obviously the Jets were eliminated and a week ago
against the Miami Dolphins were eliminated FRO playoff Tenchin and

(09:30):
Slid has made it a point to get some of
these other guys, these young rookies, more and more snaps.
You have, Iziabana, Konda Jason Brownlee, Joe Tipman, Xavier Gibson.
I want to ask you guys, how you think they're
gonna do, specifically against this Brown's defense that has just
been so terrific all year long. Ethan, do you have
a favorite offensive rookie this year who's like just really progressed.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
I don't know if it's a favorite. I've very much
enjoyed watching the progression of Joe Tipman, I would say
more than any because if you think about where he
was in the preseason before the first game, which ironically
to bring this full circle, came against the Browns in
the Hall of Fame game, It's like he wasn't getting
a lot of run with the first team at all.

(10:14):
I was really like it, not even the second team
at the time, he was getting third team reps. Then
he plays in the game, and coach Salos has said
this multiple times, starts to take reps in the game,
You're like, wait a minute, that was pretty cool. And
then he plays the Panthers, You're like, wait a minute,
we might have something here.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Then he gets hurt, plays guard, gets hurt.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
Now he comes back as center, and I'm gonna try
to find the tweet. But I feel like every week
on Twitter, the day or the day or two after
the game, someone has tweeted something about Joe Tipman and
not allowing pressures in pass blocking situations. And for me,
I think that I want to talk to him about this.

(10:53):
This is gonna sound so silly. I think I think
you can kind of tell by the way he walks
that he's playing a little better, you know, like Sala's
always he says like confidence. You can hear it in
someone's voice in the huddle. I think that if you
were to talk to a Ligneman, they would tell you
that Joe Tipman sounds a little more confident inside the
huddle calling out protections. He always had a little bit
of a wobble to him with his walk, a little

(11:15):
bit of a peacock chest. I think he's been doing
that a little bit more lately. The mullets in postseason form.
It's in super Bowl form really, And so that's a
long answer to your question. Who's been the favorite? For me,
it's him, and I think that against this Cleveland Browns
defense that has Miles Garrett, z a Darius Smith, I
understand those guys are the bookends on the outside, but

(11:38):
the whole offense.

Speaker 5 (11:39):
Yeah, okay, coming ask you like, they've got a bunch
of people, So.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
I'm my eyes are on Tipman Man. Well, so that
was kind of my next question. For you, Cynthia.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
Are these numbers, These aren't just like flash numbers that
we haven't watched a ton of Cleveland this year. These
aren't flashy pass rush numbers from these Cleveland Browns and
this Cleven Browns defense.

Speaker 5 (11:55):
Right, No, I mean look that if Okay, so here's
the here's some context. We know that defensive fronts and
backs work together. And you know, Miles Garrett didn't get
a sack in four games. That was like his longest
streak ever. But pressure matters significantly. But look at these
deep passing numbers. It's just tell you a little bit
something about the path pressure. So in terms of ten
plus ariyard passes, the Jets have allowed fifty six ten

(12:18):
plus ariyard completions. That's second lost in the NFL. Do
you know who's lower the Browns with fifty four. So
it's the front working together with the back. And you know,
remember like so it's kind of like you're thinking about
this defense, also think about the like the Jets events.
It's not they're they're very different. This is a Jim
Schwartz defense. It's just a little bit different construction, but
same general idea really good pass rush up front some

(12:40):
really key anchor corners like Denzel Wards back for them.
And then they've got Martin Emerson who's been playing out
of his mind as well. So it's not that dissimilar
to the Jets in terms of how it has netted out.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
I just want to say this about Joe Tipman because
I found the tweet Michael Nadia tweeted it has allowed
zero pressures or he allowed zero pressures on fifty five
pass blocking snaps against the Commanders. It's his fourth start
of the season where he allowed zero pressures, the most
by Jets rookie old lineman since Nick Mangle Nick Mangle

(13:16):
two thousand and six twelve games. Yeah, there's something there.
I mean, aside from the hair and the beard and whatever. Like,
Joe Timman has been playing very well, and I understand
that Jets have had a revolving door at offensive line.
They're probably you're if you're a betting person, which we
are not. We don't bet, but you're for the league.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
How would we even do that?

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Yeah? Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
I literally don't even know how you'd go about placing
a bet.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Yeah, what is betting?

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Don't google it because we don't want to know anyway,
if you're a betting person, you're gonna assume Joe Douglas's
going to add to the offensive line, right, I think
that's like a foregone conclusion. But knowing that you have
a piece in Joe Tipman, a piece coming back, and
Elija Verah Tucker, at least you got two very very
promising young pieces to build around. Despite if the Jets

(14:03):
going out a veteran, if they add another rookie, which
is supposed to be a talented oh tackle group when
offensive line group, so Jets are going to have options.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
But Joe Tipman is definitely going to be a big
part of this future. So you love Tipman.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
Just to talk about all the other rookies in general,
between Gibson and Brownlee and Ibanakonda, this is going to
be a short week against a really really good defense.
And I know they've already done it kind of once
this year when they played on Black Friday. But is
there any concern from either of you with these guys
getting ready for a really good defense on a short week.

Speaker 5 (14:31):
Not more than I think that they'll like, I think
they're coming along really well, right, Like this is a
it's not going to be it would even if they
had the full extra few days.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
It's not gonna be an easy defense to prepare for.

Speaker 5 (14:42):
So I just think, like you're seeing them, especially last game,
you saw them like fight through some adversity, and Reesa
had these mass numbers and is he also was able
to contribute, so it was it was a I don't.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Think that'll be. I mean it will.

Speaker 5 (14:55):
It's gonna be a problem in general for this to
face this defense, but it's not going to be any
more of a problem.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
I think they'll they'll get him ready.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
I agree with that.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
I also think that it's gonna be it's gonna be
a little different going from the thirty second ranked pass
defense and defense to the number one ranked defense in
their house on a short week. So I think that's
a cold splash of water on your face. Whether it's
Thursday night, Sunday afternoon, Saturday, like, it's gonna be a
tough matchup. I will say, whenever I hear Martin Emerson,

(15:25):
just the name Martin Emerson, I immediately think of Garrett
Wilson and his first touchdown Week two thirty one to
thirty last season, because he put Emerson on skates. YEP,
that was throwing the pill so ry true.

Speaker 5 (15:39):
I know it's such a the whole thing comes full
time is a flat circle.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
We don't know.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Yeah, that's that's where I stand up, mart.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
Now, I mean Joe flaccol pud really well in that
game last year. There's something about that stadium that he
showed us last year. He just really likes to play.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
Joe Flacco has that dog and the dog pounds.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
So you're saying, yeah, yeah, yeah, all right.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Wait I have one question yet, Cynthia. I'll ask you
can answer first if you were to say Joe Flacco,
like what breed of dog is Joe Flacco just as
a human, not like as a player, not the way
he plays literally, just like as a dude.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Maybe it's the way he looks.

Speaker 5 (16:17):
No, it's what Scooby Doo again, he's a great Dane.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
He's a great day.

Speaker 5 (16:24):
I was gonna that's long limbs, like long limbs, long
like he's a great dan like a like you know,
like it looks easy when he throws those deep balls.
But he's been more effective as a deep passer than
any other Browns quarterback we've seen in the past two seasons.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
So I.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
Was gonna say Great Dane if you did not really, yeah,
because like this he's long limbed, like you said.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
Long limbs.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Yeah, this is going to come off so wrong, and
I will.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
I just want to press where we're going there. Anyways.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Yeah, Great Danes have kind of like, I don't know,
like droopy looking face a little bit Joe Blacko.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
Do you know he's a little older.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
I'm with you, a little older.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
With scruffy gray scruff. I mean, like, I just think that.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
And and for what it's worth, there's something about the
way the Great Dane kind of like Prance is around
that's kind of like a little slow, a little regal.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Joe Flacco's like football royalty at this point.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
I like it. Yeah, I mean for sure.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Maybe he's not like, you know, the royalty of Tom
Brady or Joe Montana, but he's modern day football royalty.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
He's a superbor ring, That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Super Bowl MVP, heads up, Jets fans.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
There are more identity threats than most people realize, and
you can't catch them all on your own.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
It takes a team.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
LifeLock catches the identity threats you could miss if something
happens your own US based identity restoration specialist will work
to fix it back by our million dollar protection package. Plus,
Jets fans can score thirty five percent off their first year.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Jets or use code Jets got checkout. That's thirty five
percent off LifeLock dot com.

Speaker 4 (18:04):
All right, for this last one matchup, I want to
go with Breis Hall versus the Browns rush defense. But
I just want to throw this kind of like magic
number at you guys. So last week the Jets rushed
for one hundred and sixty four yards as a team,
So this is Briesent kind of everybody in company for
the season. When the Jets rush for seventy plus yards,
they are five and two. When they rush for less
than seventy yards and seventy yards like, still, isn't even

(18:26):
that match less than seventy yards, they are one and seven.
And also for Breeze specifically, when he has ninety scrimmage
yards plus, the Jets are six and zero. When he
has less than ninety scrimmage yards, they are zero to nine.
So just kind of I don't know a ton about
this Jets, this Browns rush defense because we've only kind
of got just gotten into it leading up to this
short Thursday game. But Cynthia, since you know so much

(18:48):
about this Browns defense, what is Briess looking at in
this matchup?

Speaker 5 (18:53):
Well, look, we talk about how they're number one against
the pass, and they kind of have been for several
weeks now, pretty much like the entire season.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
They've been like two and three, two and three.

Speaker 5 (19:05):
Like bouncing in the top four against the run in
most major metrics. So it's not an easy task. Like Jokay,
Jeremiah Owusu Corromoa out of Notre Dame, he's a problem.
He's a menace. And the linebacker level is like the
most targetable area of that defense. But it's still not
so great now that they're kind of the defense has

(19:27):
been winning them games.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
How about that?

Speaker 5 (19:29):
Even before Joe Flaco came along off his couch, the
defense has been winning games. But I do have a
really good Breeze Hall stat for you, and I need
to get this out because it's really good.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
You ready for it?

Speaker 1 (19:39):
I'm excited because I have breesssee Hall on my fantasy
team and I'm in the championship, So yeah, I'm ready.

Speaker 5 (19:46):
Okay, So we had ninety five rushing yards ninety six
receiving yards. There are six players in all of NFL history,
all of NFL history, who have had more than one
game with ninety five of each type of yards earned,
and Breeze Hall has played twenty two games and he's
one of those people.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Damn, do you think he knows that? Should we tell him?
I don't know if he knows that, but I think.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
We should absolutely tell him. He needs to know, really must.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Can we get a little fantasy advice in terms of
Breze Hall, Like you can't.

Speaker 5 (20:19):
Correct, you don't have anyone that's better than Breese haall.
You just gotta be careful. You got to find some
upside like elsewhere, because like you said, not a high
scoring game, right, which doesn't not really great for fantasy.
And but it's he's got to really say floor, you
know what I mean, Like, you can't not play him
because some other people's floors. Plus it's Thursday, so again
throw him into your running back spot so you could

(20:39):
flex someone else later in the week. If you absolutely
need to find like disproportion to upside points.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
There you go. You get a little Jets Brown's preview,
little fantasy advice. Wou'd you come for? I'm loving it.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
I'm loving it so much, right, But just one more
question for you though, Ethan on Breee, I feel like
in this last game, obviously he led our team in
receptions and solid in his press conference literally earlier today
to say it's Tuesday, said that he's his hands have just
like gotten so much better and that it's just like
a huge part of his game. Have you seen that
from your perspective watching the press box, being on the
road with him.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
I would say that sala has seen more of like
the actual reps where you go upfield like that. That's
what I want to see because I feel like from
a running back perspective, what we've seen from Breesall, you've
seen a little checkdown, You've seen a little screen like
I would imagine most running backs catch those types of passes.
What I would like to see and which I'm sure
Salah has seen over the course of Preestall's career, is

(21:37):
him progressing in terms of route running, shaking free and
then bringing down the football. Like there was that one
play that there was no pass interference flag thrown. We
all kind of thought maybe there should have been, but
That was one of the plays where I was like,
wait a minute, is that is that Prieste, Like I
would have liked to see Priest catch that without a defender.

(21:59):
If the defense didn't, I think interfere with him, because
I think that's where he can really take this offense
to another level for the remainder of the regular season,
which is only two games. I understand that, but I
do think that's all has gotten better as a receiver.
I mean, his vision is crazy once he has a
ball in his hands. And my concern and I'm sure

(22:20):
Cynthia like you're more equipped to talk about this, Like
if you're Jeremiah Ousu Cormoa and you've seen the amount
of screens and check downs that Bresol just got last game,
aren't you just sniffing that out like you're gonna say, Okay,
I know I have speed.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
You have speed. I trust my speed.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
If I start to see you leak a little bit,
I'm just gonna try to cover you. So that's where
my concern is as an employee, and if you're a
Jets fan, that's where my concern would be too.

Speaker 5 (22:50):
Yeah, But I also think that I think it's smart
to think that this staff is gonna say, hey, there's
two games left. This guy's shown a good improvement this season.
Let's keep that rolling for the last two games of
the season. Let's get in some ones that are a
little bit more untraditional, meaning maybe it doesn't look like
a screen that they've pulled out in the past few games, right,
go back six eight games, maybe even more, because typically

(23:13):
about four games is the amount of film people watch.
So let's go back to something that came out of
our bag of tricks, like way earlier in the season.
So we can try to keep the good. You know, momentum,
I don't we can we Momentum not real, but psychology
is real. And the ability to be able to see
things ahead of time, you know, understand how to visualize
something and then go for it, that's real. So you

(23:34):
know that's I think that's more what they will be
going for.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Yeah, I think it'll be interesting. Is that all you
have for?

Speaker 4 (23:39):
That's all I have to shout out to my two dogs,
I mean two dogs handing all the information out loving it.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
What kind of you get my dog in here?

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Yeah, get Gordy involved.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
I have one question for you before we wrap up
here on the game preview podcast presented by LifeLock. Obviously,
this seems to be a very challenging task for the
New York Jets. Zach Wilson remains and protocol will not play.
Trevor Simeon going up against the number one defense in
the NFL. You never know what the what the lake
effects is going to be like in Cleveland, what that

(24:09):
means for the weather, what it means for the temperature.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
It's going to be night, which means it's going to
be colder.

Speaker 1 (24:14):
How did the Jets win this game on offense or
what do they need to do on offense? Because I
think at this point of the year, I know Joe
Flacco has been great. He's thrown for three hundred yards
each of his last three that's for the first time
in his sixteen year career. I think most people are
feeling good about where the Jets defense stands. How did
the Jets escape Cleveland and get comeback off a short

(24:38):
week into the mini bye week, as they put it,
with a.

Speaker 5 (24:42):
Win limit explosive plays from the defense. So you know,
Amari Cooper got all those yards last week on downfield routes,
right like, so when in vertical routes went seven for
two fourteen and both of his touchdowns came on vertical routes.
So that's an area where this Jets team is really good.
But explosive plays, especially in what should be a low

(25:05):
scoring game, a few explosive plays can change the trajectory
of the game. So limit explosive games in the run
and pass, and two on the offense, stay in manageable
downs and distances so that you don't have to worry
about potentially Miles Garrett's Darius Smith coming for you. That
is not a fun pass rush to go up against.
So if you're leveraging Breisee Hall, who's super dynamic, you're

(25:27):
leveraging Izzy. You're leveraging all I mean you have. When
it comes to Garrett Wilson like this, it's not a
good matchup for him, but you still have him drawing
away that coverage to create space for someone else, even
if it isn't necessarily him, who's going to do the
catching of the football, right, So keep those downs and
distances manageable. You don't need to do anything crazy. We
actually saw it last week. It's like really smart game

(25:49):
plan of just rhythm football. Stay in rhythm, exploit the
layer of the linebackers where you have the best opportunity
and just stay in third manageable, third, manageable Morford.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
That's it. That's it.

Speaker 5 (25:59):
Simple, Keep it simple, stupid, right, isn't that what we Yeah?
Yeah right, it was not from like.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Whatever.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
Yeah, keep it simple, stupid. I've heard that time or two,
you know. Yeah, So look, it's going to be a
challenging task. But this is again, it's the NFL. Any
given Thursday, any given Sunday, any given Saturday. This is
week seventeen of the game preview podcast, Jets Browns in Cleveland.
A couple familiar faces, one of them being Joe Flacco,

(26:28):
the other being Elijah Moore, the wide receiver for the
Cleveland Browns, And we'll see what happens. And then I
can't believe I'm about to say this, but the next
time the three of us are back in studio, rock
and rolling, it'll be twenty twenty four, New Year, Happy
New Year.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
The games out of the way because you can go
do fun things. Some people got a game.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
That night, they got that is absolutely true.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
Bengals and Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (26:52):
Those fans are going to be in a freezing cold stadium.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
Yeah yeah, they will watch.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
New York fireworks. I love the New York fireworks.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
New York fireworks are always great. And if you're a
Jets fan, you can just enjoy your Sunday. You do know,
stress levels, you know, just do whatever you want to do,
order some great food, make some great food, hang out
with some great people, ring in the new year, and
then we'll wrap up this podcast for the twenty twenty
three season in twenty twenty four, when the Jets take
on the Patriots,
