and you know when we traded, but Deontay, who were

turned out with the season, and that's so sure he
would have resigned and things like that. So we'll just
move on and we get a lot of our young
guys some more opportunities, and uh, pretty proud of the
way the young guys played this past weekend. Get and
certainly Jaydon Coker and we know that Adam Feelam is
close to coming back, and so you know, that's just

it's one of those deals. When we traded for Deontae,
I believe we swapped Dante Jackson uh to Pittsburgh for him.
So you know, that's the way the way the world goes.
And I think nowadays, Jordan, I think with the different
general managers are younger, there's a there's a whole lot
more activity than years past.

nice job this year. You mentioned it just before, just before,

I don't disagree with the trade, but it's just okay,
at some point, we want to get good players and

to get back on it from underneath trading players that

Listen, Now we have a full assortment of draft picks
right going into the draft next year and one extra,
so we have our whole draft. We lost the Dj
Moore because the organization at the time felt it was
time to go up and get a quarterback. And you know,
the story's not done yet with Bryce, but so far
it hasn't worked out in that regard, right, So, and

then the Brian Burns deal that kind of sounded like
a contract just couldn't be reached for whatever reason, whatever side,
it couldn't be reached. This is where I'm coming from.
I truly believe I've got more optimism now than I
did last year at this time. And I'll tell you why.
I'm seeing some of our draft picks and some of

the you know, rookie free agents guys we signed, they're
playing a lot, and there's some flashes there. You've got
to build through the draft, and yes, you can supplement
in the offseason.

So, I saw an offense last year that we had
trouble running the football, and we had trouble blocking last
year in sacks. So I saw in one off season
we saw on Damian Lewis and Robert Hunt. And yes,
we got Corbett back and Brady Christensen was able to
come back. And I watched our offensive line go from
probably the weakest part of the team last year to

the strongest part of the team this year. Right, So
that was addressed. We've been decimated by injuries on defense.
You would assume we will address a lot of the
defense next year in free agency. We should be pretty
good salary cap wise, right, and so then we get
another draft.

You need a draft class to hang your hat on.
For sure, we had that.

I think we had a lot of measurables and things
of that nature and possibly potential ish, but those just
a lot of times those don't They don't work out,
you know, to be quite honest, and I think Dan's
very big on college production and things of that nature.
Brent Tillis is another one that came from Kansas City

and they built through the draft and they would supplement
free agency along the way, but it was a built
through the draft type of situation. So my take is, listen,
Deontay wasn't going to be here.

back this year or not, but someone who was a

the fake the trick plays at the end of the game.

I don't have that much of an issue with it
when I've done it. No, But listen, that's Sean. That's
how Sean is. Sean has an edge, and especially on
game day. Sean's won that. He's a different person on
game day. And listen, there is something there from the
Panthers and Saints with Sean. I never saw that, Jordan,
when I was with the Panthers early on. I think

it was with three seasons I was with the Panthers
when Sean was with the Saints, and it never really
got to those type of opportunities. I think we won
a decent amount of those games. But then I think
a lot with the Luke Keikley days and the Thomas
Davis and Cam Newton and Greg Olsen when we were
really good, they were still really good, and you know
it was bravado, so to speak, and that's Sean. Sean

will do that you know, yeah, you got to stop it.
I like JC kind of saying something. I kind of
like that a little bit, and it should piss you off, right,
it should, and you kind of file that away. And
you know, listen, Sean has his right to do what
he wants to do. And I just think I think
the NFL has a way of what goes around comes around.
You don't know when it's gonna happen. And certainly we

don't play Denver nearly as much because it's opposite conference,
But the NFL has a way of kind of working
itself out in that regard.

Well, Jake, my high school game on Friday night was
the final game of our regular season. We won, Okay,
we finished seven and two. Now we're heading to the playoffs.
So I say all this as it pertains to the
end of our game. So our seating for playoffs is
all based off of your max Preps ranking. Okay, so

margin of victory matters. So this is screwy. This is
so we're up nine, we got the ball three minutes
to go, like on our own thirty yard line.

Times, like they have zero time out. So if you're
just winning the game, what do you do.

Exactly, But not in current high school football. We're throwing
that thing because we need to get margin of victory
as big as possible because we're neck and neck with
another team for the fourth seed to have a buye
and a first home home roun on the second. So
we're out there running down two minutes. Jake, Okay, all right,
and it's just screwy as heck. So I'm like, this

coach is gonna think I'm a jerk, but we've all
learned now you got to try to score as many
points as possible and that's a heck of a deal.
So maybe Sean Payton was thinking about a Max Preps ranking,
is what I'm getting at.

Field on us and put up like fifty or high forties,
and they're scoreboard watching the Green Bay Packers and Brett

the playoffs though this week Jake hosting a playoff game
Friday night. Supposed to rain all day Thursday, all day Friday,

We're playing the team that last year we had to

when he's out, just due to his versatility. They've had
some online issues which they might have got one of

healthy last week. Pete Warner came back. They still played
pretty hard on defense. They did lose Lottimore of the cornerback.
But it's not nearly the same team we face in
Week one, So hopefully our offense can kind of do

one thing that that's been a subject of content is
the fake the trick plays at the end of the game.

Jake, do you have any problem with how that played
out at those trick plays with the Broncos.

I don't have that much of an issue with it
when I've done it. No, But listen, that's Sean. That's
how Sean is. Sean has an edge, and especially on
game day. Sean's won that. He's a different person on
game day. And listen, there is something there from the
Panthers and Saints with Sean. I never saw that, Jordan,
when I was with the Panthers early on. I think

it was with three seasons I was with the Panthers
when Sean was with the Saints, and it never really
got to those type of opportunities. I think we won
a decent amount of those games. But then I think
a lot with the Luke Keikley days and the Thomas
Davis and Cam Newton and Greg Olsen when we were
really good, they were still really good, and you know
it was bravado, so to speak, and that's Sean. Sean
(07:46):
will do that you know, yeah, you got to stop it.
I like JC kind of saying something. I kind of
like that a little bit, and it should piss you off, right,
it should, and you kind of file that away. And
you know, listen, Sean has his right to do what
he wants to do. And I just think I think
the NFL has a way of what goes around comes around.
You don't know when it's gonna happen. And certainly we

don't play Denver nearly as much because it's opposite conference,
But the NFL has a way of kind of working
itself out in that regard.

Well, Jake, my high school game on Friday night was
the final game of our regular season. We won, Okay,
we finished seven and two. Now we're heading to the playoffs.
So I say all this as it pertains to the
end of our game. So our seating for playoffs is
all based off of your max Preps ranking. Okay, so

margin of victory matters. So this is screwy. This is
so we're up nine, we got the ball three minutes
to go, like on our own thirty yard line.

Jake, what do you do?
Speaker 2 (08:49):
You're up nine three minutes to go on your own

Speaker 4 (08:52):
Times, like they have zero time out. So if you're
just winning the game, what do you do.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
You have but two scores? You run the ball.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
Exactly, But not in current high school football. We're throwing
that thing because we need to get margin of victory
as big as possible because we're neck and neck with
another team for the fourth seed to have a buye
and a first home home roun on the second. So
we're out there running down two minutes. Jake, Okay, all right,
and it's just screwy as heck. So I'm like, this

coach is gonna think I'm a jerk, but we've all
learned now you got to try to score as many
points as possible and that's a heck of a deal.
So maybe Sean Payton was thinking about a Max Preps ranking,
is what I'm getting at.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Yeah, well, one, I'm surprised you have to go by Wow,
the score, that's that's insane, Jordan, I was part of
an NFL game like that.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
Did you know that that had Max Preps rankings for
Idaho playoffs?

the New Orleans Saints traveled to face the Carolina Panthers

The computers were all gonna say everything nineteen It was
nineteen hundred, and you'd look outside and there'd be horses
drawn carriages and like an early model T prototype that'd
be it.

Well, that's exactly right. So we were awful.

The Saints were what three and twelve at the time,
ended up three and thirteen. But I watched Steve Berline, Musin, Muhammad,
Wesley Walls, who else that was it, Donald Cole what
was his last name? Number eighty four, and then the
Jeffers kid from Virginia.

They went up and down the.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Field on us and put up like fifty or high forties,
and they're scoreboard watching the Green Bay Packers and Brett
Fahr they're putting up a bunch of points.

So yeah, so that actually happened. Once I'm in an NFL.

Game because the was there a head to head or
something was that there was something that at the.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Time breaker and then the points and it was something
like that.

Certainly the Saints, we didn't have anything to do with
it because everybody knew Mike Ditker was going to be
fired and we had three wins going into the game.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
Game. Well, I'm just surprised the scoreboard works.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
And due to Y two K and such, we're into
the playoffs though this week Jake hosting a playoff game
Friday night. Supposed to rain all day Thursday, all day Friday,
kickoff at six pm on Friday, and the.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
Highs supposed to be like forty one that day. Good conditions.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
What's the matchup look like?
Speaker 4 (11:39):
We're playing the team that last year we had to
go see when we weren't as good at the end
of the season. We went all the way to them
in Eastern I. Oh, and it was a snowstorm and
they thumped us. So kind of cool that we're getting
to play them again, But well, I'm not speculating anything.
It's playoff time, baby. Isn't that hilarious too? That the
Panthers still.

Have nine more games and to buy and I'm like
winding her down out here.

Uh, and speaking of Jake, Yes, what do you got
planned for Halloween? I'm guessing not much since you have
one kid that's in high school.

Well listen Sunday evening. Uh, my family they did.

They did a little Halloween ish type deal get together.

They went to a few of the houses and things
like that.

Because we all, I will be any volleyball tournament, the
spook Tacular volleyball tournament that is done every year right
around Halloween weekend. So we play Thursday, we're all Friday,
and then you'll have the seating and then Saturday it
will be the final.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
So it's a really big tournament.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
You know.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
They will have the costumes and things like that.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
So they play in costumes.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
No they don't, but you'll have like the manager or whatnot.

I mean they'll it's a it's a cool little deal.
So that's what I think you should wear.

I think you should wear a costume, Jake. And here's
what I think it should be.

I think it should be like you should go as
a founding father with like the white wig, you know,
the tights with your pants tucked in and just play
it cool, sit in the stands as as let's let's

We we mentioned the old days. Give me a little
look at this game, Jake. It's only been a few
weeks since we played ten to forty seven. Last time
we went down to Narlens. Can we expect anything different
this time?

Listen the Saints, they've been on a slide. They've had
tons of injuries. I haven't we haven't heard yet. I'm
assuming it sounds like Derek Carr will be back for them.
Taysom Hill was back last week. He's missed a bunch
of time. He's had a big impact on their offense
when he's out, just due to his versatility. They've had
some online issues which they might have got one of

their guys back Ruiz. Defensively, they got a little bit
healthy last week. Pete Warner came back. They still played
pretty hard on defense. They did lose Lottimore of the cornerback.
But it's not nearly the same team we face in
Week one, So hopefully our offense can kind of do
a little, you know, get something going, you.

Know, and I'm anxious to see what we do quarterback wise.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
I'm not exactly sure if Bright is gonna go again
or if Andy's thumb is is healthy enough. As we're
taping this, we haven't had a practice yet on Wednesday,
so that's gonna be interesting to see. Love to see
us get back to the run game, try to establish
that run with Cuba in the old line.
