Speaker 1 (00:04):
Welcome to NFL Daily, where the vibes in this room
are dope as hell.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
I'm Greg Rosenthal here in.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
The Chris Westling podcast studio with my friends Patrick Clayban
and Jordan rod Rieg.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
This is NFL Daily.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
We're all coming down from QB Island episode, but we're
here with the Week six preview and a great.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Week it is, except for the teams that are, you know,
looking for their first one. No, no team has ever
started zero to five and made it to the postseason.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Okay, but you know the Jets yet the Jets. The
Jets could change everything. And yeah, if you're new here,
we do conferences separately, and I alluded to the room
in the NFL where the vibes are dope as hell.
But you're gonna have to hang around to all the
second block of the show to find out.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
What that's a deep tease. You won't guess which room
is dop as But let's start with a team that's
played in some dope as hell football games. The Seattle
Seahawks in the game of the Week last week, going
on the road to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars, who
are favored by one and a half at home. The
over under is forty six and a half. Chris Myers
Christina Pink on the call, Greg, how did the Jags

(01:17):
come back after a big, emotional, fun win on Monday
night football.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
It is a tricky one to have to play this
Seahawks defense right after, like, you know, such a high
and I am curious though, how the offensive line specifically
holds up against the Seattle pass rush, because I think
that's two units that we should.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Be talking about.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Number one is that the numbers in the eye test
for the Jaguars, their offensive line have been elite, Like
you would not have expected that they would have been
one of the best offensive lines in the league. Part
of that in terms of pass protection might be because
of the opponents that they face, and you would think
that this would be a tougher test. Then again, watching
that Seahawks Bucks game, I was kind of like, Man,
did I overrate this pass rush? Do they need like

(02:02):
a couple, not more dudes, but a dude or two
at a higher level because they got dominated. Maybe it
was just a one week thing, but that's that's one
matchup I'm really looking at.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
This is a team I think to very much keep
an eye on ahead of the trade deadline. As it
pertains to that very topic, they've been a little banged ups. Yeah,
the Seahawks, they've been a little banged up, particularly at
the edges. The interior is doing fine, I think, but
they really need some of that outside rush. And part
of the problem as well is they've been banged up
at both safety and corner, so it's kind of tough

(02:31):
to know. Okay, it's not going to be sending Ernest
Jones on a blitz every single time, and they need
to get more pressure on the outsides. They had one
quarterback back hit in that game. Game of the year
in my opinion, and it is an incredible game. One
quarterback hit didn't happen to the fourth quarter, and that's
something that Mike McDonald is being pressed by reporters on
all week this week, and kind of interesting that they

(02:53):
weren't in necessarily on that o'dafae owait grade because there's
some connections there as well.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Boy Mafe though chetna Uosu Derek Hall is not really
an out soid it's going to potential. You would think,
were you, by the way, Jordan disappointed, because I know
you were watching that game that you couldn't recap it
on the show.

Speaker 5 (03:09):
I was. I was texting you.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
I said, every time Kevin Harlan even calls a good punt,
I'm smiling and kicking my feet.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
I don't disagree. That might have been the game of
the year.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Yeah, I think you got it. No, those teams going
up and down the field, and on game de view
when I saw the initial score that you picked because
you had the Bucks defense given up thirty and I'm like, oh, Greg,
that's not gonna happen. Both teams did. In fact, like
the points per game allowed for the Seahawks was sixteen
point eight going in to this game, and then Baker
and company put up thirty eight. And I'm willing to

(03:39):
chalk it up to that being an anomaly because, you know,
especially considering how different these teams are in the way
that they operate. And we got the yolo version of
Trev where he was running a whole lot on Monday
Night football. You got to see him at his best,
like hitting those throws to the outside where he can
show off the arm strength there. But I think it
works a little bit differently in this matchup where the

(04:01):
Seahawks defense is more than it's more about the sum
of the parts than any particular player stepping out and
making a big play. I'm excited for it, but I
don't think we're gonna get the high flying shootout that
we got.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
I think the availability for the players for the Seahawks
makes a big deal because we skipped it a little
bit in last week's previous It's a big deal that
Devin Witherspoon and Julian Love are not on the field
for the Seahawks the last couple of games. Those are
their best two players in the secondary, and you think, well,
Mike McDonald, he can scheme it up, like there's a
point where the players matter more. Darien Kendrick near am

(04:34):
i a pritchet. Their number one quarterback this year has
definitely been Josh job which credit to him. He's playing well,
but he was a guy that couldn't make the Eagles
a couple of years ago. You know, Kobe Bryant's playing well.
They had the safety o Coud. It like they're just
not talented enough if they don't get those two guys back,
maybe to match up against a Jaguars passing game, which

(04:55):
I think the arrow was pointing up for Travis Hunter
and Brian Thomas Junior.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Yeah, that's a huge match A point to me because
there's talk locally of some of those defensive backs coming back.
Even though they might come back, they're still banged up.
They're coming off of injuries, and so that has forced
them to miss one, if not more games. And this
passing game for Jacksonville, as messy fun as it was

(05:21):
at times this week on Monday Night Football, you could
really tell it's starting to find a clear identity. They're
starting to figure out which receivers work best in different spots.
I think I like to point to Patrick Claibon for
rightfully shaming all of the Brian Thomas Junior inbreaker calls,
because you're seeing actually more outbreaking routes and outside perimeter

(05:45):
shots for Brian Thomas Junior, and you're seeing Travis Hunter
make some big plays and really find his place on offense.
And I think that this game you might see another
Travis Hunter offense game. Because the Seahawks like to go
in twelve personnel, they like to use these combo one
and two receivers JSN and Cooper Cup. Cooper Cup made
some pretty crucial third and medium third and short catches

(06:07):
and in doing so last week set up himself as
a threat on a lot of the under concepts. So
they were able to deploy a lot of their combination
routes with JSN as the over, including for that touchdown
absolute dime by Sam Darnold, who's dealing right now. And
so I think that having less necessarily a need for
multiple corners, you need to make sure you're guarding the

(06:28):
receivers obviously, but Devin Lloyd in the middle of the field,
and you know some of the safety play they're getting,
Jordan Lewis is really holding it down for them as well. Jacksonville,
I don't know that you need Travis Hunter so much
on defense this week. You definitely want him on offense
to try to attack these banged up corners and safeties.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
And that's the promise that we all hope for, was
being able to utilize this player and deploy him in
the way that you need him for a particular matchup,
because playing every single snap on offense and defense looks
to be an impossibility, So why not utilize him in
the right way, and there's more targets to go around
when I think it changes the offense a little bit
because Britain Strange was playing so good at tight end

(07:06):
in the run and the pass game. He's going to
ir so he's going to be down at least four
weeks now.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
That is a big loss for them and its strength
and strength when you think about the Seattle's deep passing game,
they're one of the best deep passing teams in the league.
Against a Jaguars defense which prevented the big pass like
heavy zone team. I did want to update just on
the announcers for this game. We have confirmed it will
be Mark Schlareth on the call with Chris Myers. Mark

(07:35):
Santez will not be on this car. Okay you said
Mark there, No, it'll be Mark Slack, Mark Slareth.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
Yes, they started with an s too. I had me
in the first half.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
I'm not.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
To our next game, the Los Angeles Rams rightfully a
seven and a half point favorite at the Baltimore Ravens.
The over under is forty four and a half games
on Fox. So Kevin Burker, Tom Brady and Andrews Tom
Rinaldi clearly they picked the team on the call when
they thought that this was going to be a fun,
exciting game. Jordan the Baltimore Ravens are morose.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
Woo. Yeah, you know.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
I came in Patrick and I started talking to you
about it, and I was like, this is how the
Ravens can beat the Rams.

Speaker 5 (08:14):
Throw at the corners.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
And then Patrick very aptly said, Cooper Rush, throw out
the corner rooms.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Oh Man is taking too much heat for last week.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
He was fine the rest of this this organization that's
falling apart. But you're right, that is going to be difficult.

Speaker 5 (08:29):
Here's the problem.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
This has been a thing, and this is more maybe
less so about how this game specifically will go, because
we understand where the Ravens are struggling right now, and
I have no doubt that this Matthew Stafford, who Kunakua
DeVante Adams, Kyron Williams, whichever tight end Sean McVay feels
happiest with this week to throw out there, like I
have no doubt they're going to score points right on

(08:50):
this Like battered Defense. However, it's more of a commentary
on like the Rams have serious problems that they have
had since the spring, or questions that they've had since
the spring, and to be legitimate down the stretch, especially
against the type of blueprint that Kyle Shanahan once again
deployed against them in another one of the best games

(09:11):
of the season so far, clearly daring the corners to
press tighter. The Rams clearly don't trust them to do so,
and had them back sitting in that deeper zone and
then the patient team can pick and poke and then
mac Jones was able to take his shots when he could,
and they just they don't trust without a Kello Witherspoon,
who was a they're better, one of their better corners
who will press. They they just don't trust them, clearly.

(09:35):
And this has been a question mark since the spring.
And it is the way to beat the Rams if
you can mitigate the passage.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
They have good receivers the Baltimore Ravens. I mean I
saw Za Flowers put Derek Stingley in the dirt. That
play was not replayed enough that c Flowers literally put
the best cornerback in the league perhaps like on the
ground in Cooper Rush gave him a dime.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
Yeah, great, Cooper Rush.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Was like thirty five to seven at that point, but
still it happened.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Wins football games. The problem is the issues up front
and the protection in the past game are the same,
except you don't have one of the more imaginative and
creative players in the NFL in the past twenty years
back there you do have Cooper Rush. And again not
to demean or you know, but not like Cooper Rush.
But the six highest paid players on the team were

(10:21):
out last week, and I don't know we're here on Wednesday.
How many of them you get back in this home
game against the Rams and a part of the season
where you hope to be able to slide through a
couple of these games at home. And if you go
back and watch, like all of the CJ. Stroud touchdowns,
he's in a pocket virtually. With even more time, he

(10:43):
could have thrown the ball twice with some of those
pockets that he threw out of, and they made CJ.
Stroud look electric on the outside. And Nick Chubb is
flying past people with twenty twenty five where they're not
just hurt, they're slow. They're slow, and there's some schematic
issues as well. It's all bad.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Was out of practice on Wednesday, and I think it'd
be quite surprising if he plays in this game. And yeah,
you hit on it with the with the like just
total lack of team speed on the defensive side, and
you think about this matchup specifically, it is I believe
the number one team in terms of success rate in
terms of design runs. The Rams give me some more

(11:21):
Blake Korm in this game. Like I do feel like
the Ravens defense at this point is kind of a
defense you can just kind of work on some things against.
Like that they fix the Texans, and so I think like,
let's get let's get Ferguson in the mix that site,
and let's get Korm in the mix in. The Ravens
run defense is twenty seventh in the league against the run.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
Yeah, Kyron Williams, the Rams starting running back, looking to
rebound from another fumbling issue that was pretty costly in
last week's game. You mentioned fixing some things. This is
kind of a sneaky thing to watch for the Rams
this week. Justin deed Itch has still been starting at
left guard, even though Steve Avula is not on the
injury report or now. He was our second round pick

(12:04):
a couple of years ago and has played really, really
quality football for them. But it's super interesting that he
has not been activated fully in these games. He's been active,
he hasn't been activated fully in these games. And it's
an undrafted free agent former center who's playing or left
guard right now.

Speaker 5 (12:19):
And that's something a little bit to watch.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
If Ravens should try to trade for him.

Speaker 5 (12:24):
It's just they should.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Is that tape. It's like another part of the team
where they actually don't have injuries. Well that's not true.
Ronnie Stanley has been out of practice, although I think
he was practicing Wednesday. That the Ravens out Rokan Smith,
Marlin Humphrey Shoudobi a woozy. That one is a little new.
Another cornerback in Patrick or card in addition to Lamar,
So they could have a couple players back, but not

(12:48):
not a lot.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Yeah enough, not a lot of reasons to be confident,
but a lot of reasons to be confident in the
Rams in seven and a half.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Points, Yeah, it doesn't seem like enough.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
It's time for the Sunday presented by Toyota. Let's go places.
It was not enough ten and a half for the
Detroit Lions against the Cincinnati Bengals last week, and now
they're going to go on the road at Kansas City,
who are favored by two and a half points. Greg
in a sign of disrespect to Dan Campbell and I'm
on Ross Saint Brown who keeps track of disrespect? Today

(13:20):
Night Football, Mike Tarico, Chris Collinsworth, Felicia stunk Oh Florio's
on the call, coaches.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Players not on the call.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
That is not actually he's on the pregame h And
it's you know, it's not our mic, It's not the
good mic, it's the other mic. How do you feel
about the Kansas City Chiefs spiraling in twenty twenty five?

Speaker 1 (13:39):
They feel like the opposite of the twenty four Chiefs
where they're better than their record, right, because I think
the defense since that Week one game has looked better.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
I think they've found answers in the secondary.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
They got to cook up some pass rush, but they
have been pretty effectively and the offense looks explosive. Patrick
Mahomes is doing exactly what I asked to. Just bring me.

Speaker 5 (14:01):
He heard you, Just bring the fun, got your email.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
Just bring the fun back.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
He's got seven throws this year completions of over twenty
air yards. That's almost as many as he had all
of last season. He also leads the NFL in yardage
in terms of throws outside the pocket, so that's Patrick
can create mode. I think the offensive line is playing well.
I know they lost that game. It was a fluky game.
To me, they almost put up five hundred yards. That's

(14:26):
just one game, but we've put two together and they're
going up, I think most importantly against a Lions team
that are going to be without their two starting cornerbacks
Terry On Arnold and DJ Reid, and this is a
bad week for that to happen to Detroit.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
Terry On Arnold, the situation is a little strange. I'm
happy for him. If he's on a more positive course
then maybe it was initially reported by Dan Campbell who
said that he was probably going to be out with
that shoulder injury for quote a long long time. But
then reports came out earlier this week that he got
a second opinion and maybe it's less than they expected.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Which is bid a couple of weeks say now, But
I always worry about that second time.

Speaker 5 (15:03):
He was playing great. Yeah, it's like it was for me.
I gave the event.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
You know, he is playing great before the injury, playing
really well, really helping to bring that secondary to life
in a big way. And I think it is one
of the bigger stories of the season. We were hoping
for this, objectively speaking, but we were hoping for this,
that this Kansas City Chiefs offensive line with a rookie
and a left guard who changed positions would be looking

(15:31):
like this at this point in the season. They to me,
they look really good, and every week they are looking
more and more solid and stable. Giving him I know
Treyvon Walker was out last week, but giving him, giving
Patrick Mahomes felt like years at times to throw without
having to scramble around and make one of those like
hero ball throws, which I think is bodes very, very

(15:52):
well and dangerously for everybody else.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
Yeah, I think those deep passing attempts can be more
of a credit to the offensive line performing better than
like some sort of vast difference between Patrick Mahomes in
this offense. And my concern for the Lions is without
Terry on Arnold, right, they play man at one of
the highest rates in the league. Shepherd coming out and
pointing out that even for those who were critical of

(16:14):
Terry on Arnold, they put a lot on him and
they ask him to do a lot. I don't know
that they can execute the game plan that they would
like to thankute against this KC team that's having to
have you know, Juju run run deeper routes. I know
they have a whole lot of speed, but a lot
of that offense is running through Juju going out there
and setting Andrew Boget screens for Travis Kelce when things

(16:35):
get constricted a little bit, and so like you need
your guys on defense up against the chiefser I.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
May pick the winner of this game based on Taylor
Decker's availability because he missed last week, and I know
they won that game easy. But Giovanni Manu, who has
always been on my radar because he was a guy
that the Lions gave up multiple mid round picks to
trade up for, that was like a CFL guy had
barely ever played football, And it was definitely a moment

(17:03):
of Brad Holmes feeling himself, just like, I'm going to
give up two picks for this guy that you know,
not that familiar with, and it's it's taken him a
little bit while he finally got his first start. In
terms of Taylor Decker was out lasting And I know
PFF isn't perfect, but his PFF pass blocking grade is
not old enough to vote you know it was it
was rough, like what was happening in that game?

Speaker 2 (17:23):
And then you think about, you know.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Him against this Chiefs defense would send pressure and just
confuse what a left tackle has to do, and maybe
this Lion's offense won't you know, hum as well in
a tougher matchup, if Decker is off the fleet field.

Speaker 5 (17:39):
Always hard to be the one guy who stands out
that way.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Yes, the rest of the group looked great against Satty.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
Yes, well yeah against Cincinnati yeah right, I mean all
year they have, really, I mean it's this this lie.
I think we're going to get another fun one, and
I'm excited for that, especially because it's the you know,
the prime time, you know, we get we We've been
getting some really fun ones in the late in the
witching hour, the late witching hour, not the early chaos window.
And I think this is gonna be another fun one

(18:07):
because I just can't see Kansas City like letting this
happen to them.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Honestly, because it's the Lions.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
The Lions are so smothering and incredible. They are best
team in football right now. But like, and I'm probably
gonna curse im sorry in advance, because I do that
apparently it's me.

Speaker 5 (18:22):
I'm sorry, but I I really don't.

Speaker 4 (18:26):
I can't see I mean Patrick Mahomes, especially with some
of the weirdness that tilted that game the way that
it did for the Chiefs last week, and then like
the ultimate like gut punch of the shot of Chris
Jones just kind of watching Trevor Lawrence stumble bumble tumble
hair flowing into the.

Speaker 5 (18:47):
Into the end zone. I mean it's like, obviously you don't.

Speaker 4 (18:51):
Think the play is still going and all of that,
but like it's just objectively watching it for them.

Speaker 5 (18:56):
You're you're angry, You're mad as hell.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
And also you could say, like the universe evening things
out because Bolton makes the stop on the Trevor Lawrence
breeze sneaky sneak trying to go over the top a
fraction of an inch before. And then at the end
of the game, Chris Jones comes out, you know, against
the double team like a man on fire, seas Trevor
on the ground and he's like, oh, wait, why are
we still playing?

Speaker 1 (19:19):
Wait? What about the world even in itself out in
terms of not karma but just luck on some level
of like Chiefs in one score games that like it.
Like now they are losing these close games. They had
that Lions game which sticks in your mind from a
couple of years ago to start the season, where the
Lions went in they got a big victory in the

(19:39):
kickoff game, a game that is supposed to be almost
impossible for the road team to win. I do love
the way their linebackers are playing. I just wanted to
give a shout out to Alexanzeloni and Jack Campbell and
Derek Barnes, who's a reminds me of old school nineties football,
like a real strong side linebacker over there, and he's
just like the bigger guy and he's set in the edge.
But Angelo and especially Campbell have been amazing. And then yeah,

(20:02):
Aiden Hutchinson, not O'Connor against your boy, Josh Simmons.

Speaker 5 (20:08):
I'm excited.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
That's excited.

Speaker 5 (20:09):
I'm excited for that.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
I think he would be my defense I think he
might be my defensive Player of the Year candidate or
pick right now. And that's that's because they have the
fourth highest four man pressure rate in the entire league,
the Detroit Lions, and it's basically one guy. Yeah, I
mean without them, I just without him I just feel
like it all falls apart, and.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
I think right because for Hutchinson, you can go and
watch all of the chips and the and the double
protection scheme that Josh Heines Allen have to deal with
on Monday, and I think it's going to be a
very similar way, yeah, that the Chiefs approach him coming
up on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
I am really looking forward to this, the NBC and
the schedule. Gods, they've done it again. Looking forward to it.
Let's take a quick break. On the other side, we
will talk about two teams which I said I saw
in person, oh play American football like with my eyes.
Over the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
That was the Sunday Drive presented by Toyota. Let's Go Places.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
Back on NFL Daily, the Browns chose not to take
their buy after going overseas.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Now that they were, they weren't there that long.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
But still, you know, that's a decision that they chose
to make, and then they're put on the road this
week in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 5 (22:07):
They're also young and spry.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
Now, yeah, they're young in spry. They got rid of
Joe Flacco. They got the problem out and not just
kidding Joe Flacco. Now Cincinnati Bengal. It's Dylan Gabriel making
his second straight start, first start in the United States
of America, taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers Jordan. They are
favored by five and a half points. The Steelers got
some time off. When they are back on the field,
I excuse me, an Eagle, JJ Watt and Evan Washburn

(22:32):
will be there to see what we get for Arthur
Smith and Aaron Rodgers with a chance to sit back
and relax and execute a game plan against a very
good dev.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
Yeah, first and foremost. For some reason, my Instagram algorithm
kept giving me the clips of JJ Watt talking about
his haircare routine.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
I haven't seen that one.

Speaker 5 (22:50):
They're pretty good.

Speaker 4 (22:51):
He's like pretty I think he's pretty solid, like good
sense of humor about himself, like talks about bringing his white.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
Hair to fire style a lot. I have noticed that.

Speaker 5 (22:59):
I appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (23:00):
I appreciate someone who's confident in themselves on that front.
So the biggest thing about this game to me, besides
the volume in JJ watts hair, is that Mike Tomlin
sounded really optimistic so far this week about getting Alex Heismith,
Joey Porter Junior, and Jalen Warren back this week. All
three of them have missed at least one game. Joey
Porter Junior has missed three with that hamstring. This is

(23:23):
potentially huge. It's potentially the Steelers with with you know,
the catbird seat and the AFC North and key players
returning on defense at this point.

Speaker 5 (23:33):
I mean, it's potentially massive for them.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
Mike Tomlin was asked about the AFC North picture with
the other teams struggling, and he said, I'm not a
big picture guy. And I was like, well, shouldn't you be.
You're the head coach of a football team, Like.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
I mean, what what would that change for him?

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Now?

Speaker 4 (23:50):
We've got now explains everything.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
Now, go ahead, house this one against the Browns. Because
the other teams were bad. It doesn't necessarily I get it.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
I get it. I am curious.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
You guys watched that game, you know, on television, and
being there, I was really no, no, I'm.

Speaker 5 (24:05):
You par you on your screen.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
I was because they see different things. If you're home,
you see a lot of extra things. If you're home,
then you see other extra things if you're there. But uh,
I felt like all we talked about on our broadcast
was Darnault Washington in that game, And I really did
think their personnel choices in that game led almost directly
to how effective they were. They dominated Minnesota upfront, and

(24:33):
Washington was a huge part of that. They essentially benched
John Hue and Friarmouth, although they played it like a
heavy personnel the whole time, and man that offensive line
playing that well, it was just one week, but they
were moving people, and what a great matchup this is
when the when the Steelers have the ball, Like, I
think we can see if that's real, if that's a

(24:53):
one game offensive improvement. Was that just a one week
game plan, because this is as tough of a matchup,
Patrick like you can get against this Browns defensive line.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
Well, I think we'd have to wait for another week
because if it doesn't work against the Cleveland Browns, we
could easily say, well, the Browns are stronger against the
run than most teams in the league.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
But maybe like even if it's a dry if they're
like if they're not dominated even against the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
Yeah, and you've come into this game where Broderick Jones
is allowing a high pressure rate relative to rest of
the left tackles in the league, and so he'll see
a lot of Miles Garrett and kind of a bounce
back performance for coach these defense where the Vikings put
a lot of stuff out there that made them look

(25:37):
kind of normal, and seeing Quinn Shawn Jenkins have all
the success that he had on the other side, but
Jordan Mason was moving the ball as well.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
I like this Browns team. I feel like, if I
had to pick, is this like a one in four
team other than the Ravens to turn it around this
year and just be compe Like I think the Browns
have a lot of positive ingredients if they can get
good play out of Dylan Gabriel, like I think they
did his first start.

Speaker 4 (26:03):
Well, I would agree with you, because it's all nice
to have if you're Mike Tomlin to have some of
these guys, especially Alex Heismith, kind of helping bring your
front to life a little bit more. But I feel
like Dylan Gabriel is going to get the ball out quick.
I feel like they're going to try to run the
ball with Quinshawn Jenkins, And I feel like this is
a cool game.

Speaker 5 (26:20):
You always kind of joke and I actually really like
that you do this, Like I actually do. I'm sorry,
but I.

Speaker 4 (26:24):
Do really like that you do this when you're like, oh,
that's a Jordan Coda game.

Speaker 5 (26:28):
Because this kind of is you got it.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
Take it.

Speaker 4 (26:32):
There's a lot of but there's a lot of jokery
type of players on both sides of the ball in
this game, starting with the tight ends. Because I could
really see this being a huge Dylan Gabriel hits Harold
Fannin on every single type of concept you could possibly
think of as this jokery player, especially if Jalen Ramsey

(26:53):
cannot get back from this hamstring issue that he's been
dealing with. On the other side, you guys mentioned Mount Washington,
like he he being used in so many different positions.
He's taken handoffs, like he's doing all of these different
things that are really really interesting and I think makes
these defenses have to think more. But it's not just
that they're doing it with scheme and math. They're also

(27:15):
really physical football teams too.

Speaker 3 (27:17):
Yeah, I love the idea of Darnell Washington getting like
being in a meeting room next to John Ousmith and
Arthur Smith looking at both of them and having these
visions running all these fun plays with Darnell Washington. Where
I am, I'm mainly interested in how fast Dylan Gabriel
got rid of the ball in the very first start.

(27:38):
It was the second fastest time to throw over the
course of the game that we've seen all season, and
making his first career start on the road internationally against
Brian Flores's defense, where it's is that it was that
an anomaly, like, are we going to get a whole
lot of you know, chips on TJ Watt and quick
passes to Fannin and Ndjoku.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
I think so Tomlin called Dylan Gabriel's superpower processing, and
I think there is something to that. He's an older
quarterback who's played that and I really don't I know.
I like to point out how like, you know, c J.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Stroud your agist.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
It's fine, you know, still like two years younger than
Michael Pennox and Bo Nicks, like like, let's give the
kid some time. But Gabriel I think showed a lot
of maturity and when there were so many quick pressures
in that game that he actually got away from and
made smart decisions. The problem is his you know, his
offensive line is is not amazing and it's a tough match.

Speaker 4 (28:33):
All I really want. I don't know how this will
even be possible, but I would like to see a
photo of him standing next to Darneld Washington, just to
see the difference. That's all I would like out of
this game. And also some epic tight end play.

Speaker 1 (28:47):
I think you're gonna get it.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
I think we're gonna get it. The picture might be.

Speaker 5 (28:50):
I'm trying to think, if I go one for two,
I'm good.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
It's like maneuver some some college Shenanigans to get Darnel
Washington in that picture. I'm all about it. Should Vagan's
up plenty for the Arizona Cardinals last week, and it's
no easy bounce back opportunity. They are on the road
at the Indianapolis Colts, who are favored by six and
a half points the over unders forty seven and a half.
Kevin Coogler, Moose Johnston and Alison Williams on the call. Greg,

(29:17):
how did the Cardinals bounce back from what was the
biggest donation of twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
I think it will tell us a lot about how
this season is going to go. They've been very underwhelming.
They should have been three and two if not for
that fluky and just brutal way to finish that game.
But they would have been such an underwhelming three and two.
And if they don't get this win, you know, they
have the Packers, then they have a bye like you

(29:43):
could be going into the bye week on a four
game losing streak, and the schedule after that is really difficult.
In general, so these are the types of weeks that
really test a head. Coach Jonathan Gannon was asked about
what's happening there in the building this week, what is
the kind of five.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
And energy in this locker room and like this week,
and how do you.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
Kind of keep that today? Dope as hell? Honestly, it
really was.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
It really was.

Speaker 6 (30:14):
I couldn't start the meeting on time because of the
energy in the room.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
So that's good. See. But that's good to see. But
we have to make sure that we're in the details
in the meeting room and walk through and practice. But
it was really good.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
It was really good.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
I'm such a sucker that I see that.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
And I also heard Mike gha follow talk on Good
Morning Football that this whole touchdown thing from Mario Demercato
is like a rallying cry now for the team. I'll
fall for it and be like they are going to rally,
they are going about they are.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
Going to play hard.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
Listen, I understand what a coach and a team is
like trying to do out of that moment, especially if
the coach and honestly bad look bad moment, honestly for
bad bad mistake, bad moment. Also bad mistake by Jonathan
Gannon as well, who was fine earlier this week as well, and.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
By the team, not by.

Speaker 4 (30:59):
The by the team, Yeah, yes, and that's important. Was
that was pretty rare. Actually, I think the last person
that's happened to is Bruce Arians. So Arizona's tense sometimes,
but I feel like this is I understand what a
coach and a team is trying to do, like being
sincere in addressing the team, which I tend to believe

(31:20):
he was being sincere about making mistakes and taking ownership
and trying to scrap all of it, bury the tape,
all the things that they say.

Speaker 5 (31:29):
I get that.

Speaker 4 (31:31):
I don't have any reason to believe that the Cardinals
are made of stronger stuff than what we've seen.

Speaker 5 (31:35):
I don't have any.

Speaker 4 (31:36):
Reason to believe that they're made of more resilient stuff
than we've seen. And in fact, I was listening to
Mina this morning and she pointed out this week on
her show kind of a lack of resilience. Stat Now,
she did not frame it this way. I don't want
to put words in her mouth, but when I'm thinking
about this team's like inability to close or come back
or to make up for bad moments.

Speaker 5 (31:58):
Crazy stat.

Speaker 4 (31:59):
Arizona is first n EPA per play on defense Jonathan
Gannon's bread and butter here through the first three quarters
of a game and drops to twenty seventh in fourth
quarters this season. So you want to talk about lack
of resilience, show me some resilience come back literally and emotionally,
you know. I mean, I just have no reason to
believe that yet.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
Also, they're just not that good at football on the
offensive side, which is more important. Yeah, Like, there's no
reason to believe that they're.

Speaker 5 (32:25):
Oh you don't want the poetic moment.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
No, No, I agree with all that, And I think
that's all about our feeling. I think that's true, and
I think that's a great note about the defense, and
I find it interesting. But I don't have any real
big reason to believe that, like this offense is going
to figure it out. Kyler Murray, by the way, was
out of practice on Wednesday, So this could be Jacoby
Brissett with a revenge game in Indianapolis. I don't think

(32:49):
that's a revenge. They kind of revived his career.

Speaker 4 (32:51):
He's kind of the perfect backup there too, because he
can still throw it around and he knows that offense,
he's been in that system.

Speaker 3 (32:57):
He's kind of a perfect backup just in general. Yeah,
for Jacoby Brissette. And two, I don't think right the
Colts are the opponent that you want in this bounce
back situation for the Arizona Cardinals. And you can make
the case it's the toughest of this stretch where they've
lost by Again, these are game winning field goals that
are happening in the closing moments, right.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
The same thing happened to the forty nine ers game
as well.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
Yeah, and so it's not like they are out of
these games. But I think we can get the best
version of the Arizona Cardinals and they could still lose
this particular game. And so, like, I don't not to
bury the team, but it's just the schedule sometimes determines
these things and this is a doozy.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
For Jermaine Pratt was signed today by the Indianapolis Colts,
so a reunion with lou Ana Rumo. He had played
like almost every snap of the Raiders' first four games
and then was inactive and then was cut. I'm not
sure what happened there. I do want to mention just
how good Josh Downs looked last week and it was

(33:59):
a reminder, man, they just have so many receivers. They
have six receivers over one hundred and thirty three yards
last week. They benched eighty Mitchell last week, which I
thought was a little harsh until I watched Ashton Doolan
look like one of the best receivers on the team
when like he suddenly got some run and there was
like a third to third and twelve played to dimes,
which I think really encapsulated where they sent a perfect

(34:20):
blitz the Raiders did on him last week, and he
just saw it very calmly, like hit Downs who made
a play after the catch to pick up the first down,
and Daniel Jones just took a shot and he stood
in there and he delivered and Downs then made a play.
And that's that's what I think with this team. Like
he's not taking any sacks. He's taken four sacks all

(34:42):
season long, and they just have answers whenever opposing teams
like the Cardinals, who are a tough matchup, give give
you tough questions.

Speaker 4 (34:48):
Well, I think it also speaks to how complete the
team is that their receivers and the quarterback have numbers
like that, and still Jonathan Taylor's.

Speaker 5 (34:55):
Leading the NFL and rushing. And I know we.

Speaker 4 (34:58):
Talk about the Daniel Jones's sons a lot, and we
should and stoked for him, but the.

Speaker 5 (35:03):
Tailor sons has also happened.

Speaker 4 (35:05):
Yes, and yes, Daniel Jones did make it onto QB
Island yesterday. I know that the world was a little
worried we might forget about Danny Dimes over there.

Speaker 5 (35:13):
No, no, we would never. But it speaks to their balance,
it really does.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
This is a well balanced team that is built to
continue to do this as long as they can stay
healthy because of how complete they are.

Speaker 5 (35:24):
They're getting the ball done.

Speaker 4 (35:26):
They're getting it done through the air and on the ground,
and it's pretty incredible to watch.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
The line of sans is what made those other soanss possible.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
It's fair.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
They had veteran departures. We wondered how they were going
to rebuild it, and they have played spectacularly.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
Sances good point, and that's that's a feather in the
cap of of Chris Ballard and that coaching staff of
They've been pretty consistent being able to develop and target
offensive linemen and be better than you would expect.

Speaker 3 (35:55):
My apologies to mister Ballard, not familiar with your game.
The next game up is the Los Angeles Chargers, favored
by four and a half, coming on the road all
the way to Miami to take on the Dolphins. Forty
four and a half is the over under Andrew kettle On,
Charles Davis, Jason mccordy, and A. J. Ross. Greg is

(36:17):
the Dolphins defense the cure to what ails this Chargers offense.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
Yes, it's the worst defense in the league. It's a
matchup of like bad on bad when the Chargers offensive
line tries to run the ball in this game, but
everyone's looked good running the ball against the Miami Dolphins.
Kenneth Grant is getting just targeted. They have so much
money invested up front and it's not really working that

(36:43):
I feel like, you know, one team has justin Herbert,
the other team has too, which if you remember used
to be a big debate on bad talk shows, you
remember that it was a debate. Trua is coming off
what I thought was his best game of the year.
You know, Tua, if you threw out Week one has
looked fine. He just looked like I don't think he's
looked great, yea.

Speaker 4 (37:01):
Well relative to what he relative to where he's been.
I mean, he's looked like himself.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
Maybe I'm not going to say they're better without Tyreek Hill,
but I don't know. They look pretty like cohesive.

Speaker 4 (37:11):
Well, they're better when they're they're getting the ball to.
Darren Waller speaking of soanss like in a big way, like,
you know, it's it's crazy to watch how productive he
isn't and you know, if this is for real, and
I think and we think it is, because he's still
there and producing and a big part of what they do.

(37:32):
Happy for him, happy for both of them. But I
don't think they win this game because the Chargers need
to gather themselves. I mean, it's embarrassing what happened to
their offensive line. There's this audio clip floating around between
Bradley Boseman and Justin Herbert where Bradley Boseman misses an
assignment and Justin Herbert says no, no, no, no, pointing
out a different assignment, and then they still go with

(37:54):
the first one because the snap's already happening, and Justin Herbert,
you know, yells, yeah, dang it. And I'm saying the
polite version of it, because I don't want more work
for the producers having to bleep me out once again.
But it's it's bad. It's that offensive line is This
is from a colleague, Daniel Popper. Since he got to
the NFL in twenty twenty, Justin Herbert has been hit
five hundred and twenty five times, which is the most

(38:16):
of any quarterback in that span. And Jim Harbaugh was
adamant that they did enough at depth all along the
offensive line. You never obviously planned for both of your
elite tackles to be out. But locally they're saying, no,
this was not enough upfront.

Speaker 3 (38:33):
Yeah, oh yeah again, like the sheer volume of injuries,
It's gonna be tough, like considering roster limitations for anybody.

Speaker 5 (38:39):
Exactly to deal with this.

Speaker 3 (38:40):
And the clip is hilarious because Herbert spins most of
the play clock adjusting.

Speaker 5 (38:45):
Yeah and fixing having yeah.

Speaker 3 (38:48):
Having Gaston adjust to hot for the blitzer coming off
the edge, and then he's about to snap the ball
in both points to shift the line. No, no, and
then he has to snap the ball. But yeah, Darren Lawler,
I think has fixed the biggest issue for the Miami
Dolphins over these past few years, which is like giving
them some sort of idea to how to go about
things in the red zone. Yeah, it's get the ball
to Darren Waller, and they've gotten touchdowns by Waller and

(39:09):
off of Waller where it's like, hey, this is even
better than the Jon Ussans of twenty twenty four.

Speaker 2 (39:15):
It's an incredible story.

Speaker 1 (39:16):
He was picked up on waivers in my son's ten
year old fantasy football league. So that's when you know
kind of he's hit you, Like, they're not really like
grinding tape. So if he has gotten me if, yeah, exactly,
that's the word I was looking for. When when the
Dolphins have the ball, though, you said that's been their
biggest problem, it's been one of them.

Speaker 2 (39:34):
But the running game is part of that, right, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
I just combined that and like they had zero running
game last week and that's another big weakness on weakness matchup.
And it is funny how like a couple of weeks
can change something. And I'm not picking on you for
calling them the best team in the league. I didn't
think that was crazy either, But when you think about
like Jesse Minter now versus Jesse Minter three weeks ago,
he's been kind of undressed the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
I think, like coach, and it's.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
A reminder like it's more about it's always more about
players than coaches. I always personally think that we overrate
coaches in general, and like when things are going well,
they get like a lot of credit. It's like quarterbacks,
and when things aren't going well, and it's always somewhere
in between, and they probably don't have enough players, but
like stable and then last week with the Commanders and

(40:20):
even the Broncos game where Bonnicks missed a million coverage
busts and that they could have put up forty against
the Chargers. Like I think opposing offensive coordinators are dictating
the matchups we talk about dictating of like we're gonna
get your guys on the perimeter and have to make
some tackles that we know can't and you're gonna have
these lighter boxes. And they're one of the worst tackling

(40:41):
teams in football, and they've kind of been steamrolled the
last couple weeks by like formations I think, and by
by just not having the big enough guys to stop
the run.

Speaker 4 (40:51):
Yeah, I will say I agree with you twofold. First
of all, the injuries have completely turned around what this
team was versus what it is now. I mean, when
you compound injuries like that upfront, when you miss, you're missing.
Part of the reason they traded for Adolphe always is
his potential. I know he wasn't producing in Baltimore, but
his potential from previous production is something they're very clearly

(41:16):
keying on.

Speaker 5 (41:16):
They are deciding.

Speaker 4 (41:17):
They're telling you right now that they think this defense
will have to carry this team, because that is the
move that they made.

Speaker 1 (41:24):
But they're an average defense right now, and they're not
that injured on defense, to be fair.

Speaker 4 (41:28):
But that's what I'm saying, or trying to say, is
missing Khalil Mack completely changes what front structures Jesse Minter
wants to play with. It completely changes how you can
attack them, just like you said, not just upfront, but
along the perimeter, because it changes to ripple effect of
every single player who lines up behind that front. And
that's part of what's happening here, and it's a failure

(41:49):
to adjust completely. And it's also needing dudes, needing guys
back playing and hitting and tackling and actually like executing
a more malleable vision than when Jesse Minter started the season.

Speaker 1 (42:03):
Well, they've got a Dafe Oway and he is expected
to play. According to Jim Harbaugh, who compared him to
Khalil Mack, that he's a lot like him direct rusher,
but as it has depth. I get what he means.
He's just saying that he's that type of player, like
the skills that's what they need. Yeah, is similar, and
that he can definitely help stopping the run. But look,
we talked on this podcast coming into the season, we

(42:24):
thought pass rush depth was one of the biggest problems
on this team because I think County on Khalil Mack
to be a guy that just carries you in the
year twenty twenty five is too much, and you could
see that they didn't have enough players behind him that
said they could They could right the ship here and
just get to four and two. Just just win a game.
While you're bringing up let's take a break and on

(42:44):
the other side, we're going to get to the international
game this week back on NFL Daily. In heading back
over the pond, I admit it, I'm still feeling it
a little bit on the back here. I just placed

(43:07):
almost empty coffee cup onto the table next to me,
except the table wasn't there and it just just dropped
right onto.

Speaker 5 (43:15):
The the idea of a table.

Speaker 1 (43:16):
I want to see the crowd bring it in Tottenham
this week. It was so good last week in terms
of the energy, but it wasn't quite as good and
I haven't mentioned this on the show yet as the
energy at Arsenal that I went to on Saturday. I've
never been to a Premier League game before and I

(43:36):
sat in the visitors section for west Ham because I'm
a I'm a hammer and shout out to Rob Pritcher
who works for west Ham. I've known him over the
years and he hooked me and my friend Nat Combs
up with tickets and that was a unique experience which
I wish we could bring to Like the American audience, it's.

Speaker 5 (43:54):
Always good chance, is the chance? Yeah, they're creative.

Speaker 1 (43:59):
The west Ham could not have looked worse. They were
absolutely blown out in this game, even though it was
only two nothing like no chances, totally miserable and yet
the second day, like go down to nothing. They're chanting
at the rest of the stadium. You're gonna win fall,
You're gonna win fall and then some other chant about
second place that they're gonna finish in second place because

(44:20):
that's what Arsenal does all the time. And they had
some former west Ham great was sitting in the visitors
section and they just started chanting about him for ten
minutes and his nickname was Ginger Pele back in the day,
and that was like the most fun ten minutes I
had the whole day. So like, I want that kind
of energy. You're getting your teeth kicked in and you're
still out there having fun and talking trash. That's my

(44:41):
kind of energy, all right, Well, darright.

Speaker 3 (44:42):
Energy no that we're gonna summon as we discuss a
game that's coming up on NFL Network where we care
about people and each other. Aaron Glenn's chests looking for
their first win of the twenty twenty five season. They
are getting seven and a half points to try to
come back and get the the Denver Broncos, who just
beat one of the NFL's last unbeatens. On if the

(45:05):
Broncos beat one of the last unbeaten and turn around
and lose to the only winless team in the NFL, Jordan,
can it happen? Forty three and a half, Rich Eyes
and Kurt Warners. Sarah Waltz on the call.

Speaker 5 (45:17):
Bah both Jesus Christ. Both of you are frightening me
big time in a big way right now.

Speaker 4 (45:24):
Stickers bar went flying, Greg's hands, Patrick's hands. I'm in
the danger zone. You know, it's all good. Speaking of
the danger zone. What is going on with the Jets?

Speaker 5 (45:34):
Guys? What do you think?

Speaker 4 (45:36):
Just just a little little fun interactive game here, okay,
kind of three, both of you guys, say what you
think the biggest problem with the New York Jets is?

Speaker 5 (45:45):
Ok right now?

Speaker 3 (45:46):
One two three, Elijah, Arry Tucker's out.

Speaker 1 (45:50):
You didn't say anything, I know, because I was gonna
say ownership, and then I thought, hmm, that's tricky. I
would say defensive coaching.

Speaker 4 (45:59):
Yeah, and it shouldn't be that way because this is
an Aaron Glenn football team, and the lack of discipline
and the lack of adjustments and just some of the
you're just seeing some of it. I mean, it's just
it's just not what you would actually expect to see
from a team that Aaron Glenn is the head coach of.

(46:21):
And obviously he's not coordinating the defense. That's Steve Wilke's
doing that.

Speaker 1 (46:25):
I'm not giving him any path on that.

Speaker 4 (46:27):
No, I'm no, I'm not either. I'm just saying it's
like it's his team. What I mean, That's where I'm like,
what what are we going? I mean, I know, I
know he's lean. He has leaned on Steve Wilkes in
getting into this job and and what to expect and
to look for and kind of some of the advice
and having a veteran confidant to is really really important.
It's a really difficult, one of the most difficult jobs

(46:50):
to take over, if not the most difficult.

Speaker 5 (46:52):
Job to take over in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (46:54):
Seems to be open often and it's just like, but
but this is not working.

Speaker 5 (47:00):
The defense is not working.

Speaker 1 (47:01):
I just said how we tend to overrate coaching, and
maybe I just did it too by making that like
the number one thing because they have some guys that
just got yeah, shouldn't be on the field.

Speaker 5 (47:10):
It can be both.

Speaker 1 (47:10):
It's fine Tyler baron this defensive end, I was like
Jamie and Sherwood had another game where he was just lost.
Last week. Michael Clemens has low lights. Week after week.
They got Mauaga at another linebackers spot was just getting
picked on. Granted, it's a tough match against Cowboy, but
it's gonna be a tough matchup against the Broncos and
a lot of their opponents.

Speaker 3 (47:30):
Yeah, I mean, they're not going to have an easy
matchup considering the relative talent disparity all over the place
for the Jets, and they've been in a couple of
these games, and it's one of those situations where even
when the scheme looks great and the players ten of
them execute, there's there's one guy little Yeah, either put
the ball on the turf, miss a block, have a

(47:51):
blown assignment. It's just like there's one of these situations
where when you're when you're bad, bad things happen.

Speaker 1 (47:58):
But they they end up getting close in these games
or closer at the end. But they I think Red
have not scored a touchdown in the first half of
any game since Week one, so like an offensive touchdown.

Speaker 5 (48:12):
So they were a yard away I know in the
running kills me.

Speaker 1 (48:16):
The thing that's crazy is the running game is good.
So if you're going to make a case for this
game being surprising close in the fourth quarter, it's that
they have been pretty effective dictating with the running game,
and if there is a way to attack this Broncos defense,
you definitely want to do it on the ground versus passing.
So maybe they can have these long drives that actually
finish in a touchdown occasionally instead of it just tends

(48:39):
to be like these eight minute drives that end with
three points and then their defense gives up like a
huge play right away, and it's.

Speaker 4 (48:44):
Like, okay, great, Yeah, it's it's tough because they can't
count on their defense and also they can't come back
from self an early self inflicted mistake. And that's what
has happened with this team. Everything changed when Braylen and
Allen fumbled, Like the Jets look like one of the
most interesting, uh physical running teams and looked that's that

(49:08):
opening scripted drive a couple weeks ago, a couple of
games ago, like it was everything that they wanted to be,
and then they make a mistake and the ripple effect.

Speaker 5 (49:17):
They cannot get out of.

Speaker 1 (49:18):
The samething happening against the Cowboys. Every opening script looks
good and then they always they end up with three.

Speaker 4 (49:24):
They can't step sidestep the wake of the mistakes that
they make, and I think that that's that is a
culture thing, that is a mental thing, that is something
that a team builds over time by getting through those
types of things, by adjusting and understanding. You have to
overcome certain things that have that you that you do
to yourself during the game, not even so much the opponent.

(49:46):
And that's what I think this issue is. I don't
know that the Broncos will be forgiving at all against
those types of stakes.

Speaker 1 (49:53):
Now.

Speaker 4 (49:53):
I do think bon Nix will make his share of mistakes.
He's been not as consistent as they need him to be,
and he's played better week over week, especially later in games,
but he's made some mistakes.

Speaker 1 (50:04):
We get one normal steady Bonnicks game, yas one. Let's
get that has happening.

Speaker 4 (50:08):
Be you Bo, don't try to be Matthew Stafford, don't
try to be CJ. Stroud, Like, just play your game,
take take what's being presented to you.

Speaker 3 (50:15):
You know, I think the Broncos fans would feel like
it was a waste to get the solid Bo Knicks
game to be this international game against the Jett But.

Speaker 1 (50:23):
You got you got to start. I know Broncos fans
will defend him, and it hasn't been the bad. He's
good in terms of like his eyes are good, he
makes good decisions. He just misses yeah a lot like
he is. And I think, yeah, I.

Speaker 5 (50:34):
Don't think he's a bad player.

Speaker 4 (50:35):
I think everything's right and then the ball comes out
of his hand and sometimes and you're just like, oh no,
just off, just a little off here and there.

Speaker 1 (50:43):
I think this indicates kind of what PFF values and doesn't.
But like, he is still one of the lowest graded quarterbacks.
He's below Gino, he's below Flacco, like because I think
he's just missed so many times and he hasn't made
up for it with like great plays, but he has
had like the turn overworthy plays.

Speaker 3 (51:01):
So this is it. They're going to get a solid
bow game. Do you want to note the Jets are
significantly better on offense this year than they were last year.

Speaker 5 (51:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (51:09):
The majority of the Jets problem, yes, as pointed out,
are on the defensive side of the ball.

Speaker 2 (51:15):
And special teams.

Speaker 1 (51:15):
They might have the worst special teams in the league,
which like they have this is there on their like
fourth kick returner thiks we do get Garrett Wilson versus
Patrick's utan.

Speaker 4 (51:24):
Yeah, I love that and I also think this. You
saw it a couple of weeks ago, Sean Payton really
making an effort to get JK. Dobbins going, got him
to that one hundred mark. He was at seventy nine
yards last game rushing. You could see Sean Payton once
another one hundred yards rushing performance out of a single
running back versus a committee. I think this is a game.

Speaker 5 (51:46):
You do it. I mean the Jets cannot stop anything.

Speaker 3 (51:48):
And also a lingering heat from the preseason Jets Broncos
discussion from a couple of years ago.

Speaker 5 (51:55):
The parties, Oh my god, I forgot about in.

Speaker 3 (51:57):
Florm Park are no longer there. But Sean Payton, Dohn
Peyton remembers.

Speaker 1 (52:01):
He really does.

Speaker 5 (52:02):
He remembers everything.

Speaker 1 (52:04):
He had the Bronco's bus drive through Broad Street just
so they could rub it into the Eagles fans after
beating them. What a move.

Speaker 3 (52:13):
I kind of love that a team that would like
to take some fun bus rides. The Vegas Raiders did
it a couple of years ago the Tennessee Titans at
Las Vegas, where the Raiders are favored by four and
a half points. Anny Albert, Jonathan Vilma, and Megan Olivy
on the call as Greg, we want Gino to stop
throwing the ball to the other team.

Speaker 2 (52:34):
This would be a good game to do that.

Speaker 1 (52:36):
The Titans defense has quietly been disappointing, I think in
its own right. Like the offense is obviously the bigger issue.
But other than Jeffrey Simmons, who on another team might
be a defensive Player of the Year candidate and would
be an amazing trade candidate, like I think he could
be up for grabs, it's not a good defense. I

(52:57):
do think about that block kick at the end of
the Bears Raiders game, though, like this early in the season,
those like one play games matters so much more. We
would feel so differently about the Bears at least at
one in three if if the Raiders just hadn't had
that kick block. And if you were the Raiders coming
into this game, you probably wouldn't think that you were
some great team, but you'd be favored to get to

(53:19):
three and three on the season if not for that
one block kick. But that would probably be hiding the
problems underneath this team, which is a really bad defense
and missing their best offensive player this season, which I
we werarely haven't mentioned that much on this show. Missing
Colton Miller to me was kind of the depth now
for this Raiders team. Like when he went out, I

(53:39):
think like the hope of it getting a ton better
kind of went with him.

Speaker 4 (53:43):
I was like, brock Bowers, we have talked a lot
of you said best offensive player, and.

Speaker 2 (53:48):
I was like, ye, Cob Miller.

Speaker 1 (53:50):
Colton Miller was playing like lights out this year and
Brock Bowers hasn't been healthy, and I just think it's
like a cascading effect that I had just failed to mention,
and I wanted to there with Colton.

Speaker 5 (53:59):
Miller one thing that could be helpful to them.

Speaker 4 (54:02):
It looks like, per local reports, Michael Meyer is cleared
from the concussion protocol, So that's good news. Still kind
of up in the air on Breck Bowers considered week
to week. Pete Carroll early this week, and it is
interesting that the shift from how eager and believing that

(54:23):
they would compete right away Pete Carroll was early.

Speaker 5 (54:28):
In the season and adamant.

Speaker 4 (54:29):
Remember he's this is a shorter contract than most coaching
contracts when he signed, and part of that was the
intent that he if he was going to come back,
he wanted to come back and win a lot of
football games right away, and went out and got his
guy in Geno. And none of this has worked out
the way that any of them are expecting. And I
was listening to some of Pete Carroll's comments earlier this week,

(54:51):
and he was like moros. He was like, I can't.
I would never call Pete Carroll moros. Maybe his floor
is like mildly disappointed, such a positive guy.

Speaker 2 (55:01):
But morose Pete Carroll is bad news.

Speaker 1 (55:03):
Yeah, we kind of felt for it in this offseason,
like we were buying what they were selling.

Speaker 4 (55:07):
Yeah, and I do believe that they have a good
cores in place, Like I think that these guys will
know how to build a team. I think that they
made moves that on paper look like they should really
work out. You really are in terms of the roster,
like who among us? None of us were expecting this
to happen to Gino Smith, None of us are expecting
bruck Bauers to be dealing with some of the stuff.

(55:29):
And injuries happen every year to every team. But in combination,
you know, we're not expecting this offense to look like this. Yeah,
we're kind of expecting this offensive line.

Speaker 1 (55:37):
We went into the season though, saying this was the
least talented defense on the league, so that was their
choice and Pete Carroll and Pete Carroll, to be fair,
was a difference maker as a defensive coach or a
head coach.

Speaker 4 (55:48):
Well, I thought Patrick, I thought Patrick Graham would have
a really positive influence on on what people.

Speaker 1 (55:55):
You're making a face, Yeah, no, I mean he's got
a losing record over the last five years.

Speaker 2 (55:58):
I'm just saying that's.

Speaker 3 (55:59):
Like a hard Pete.

Speaker 5 (56:01):
He's already having a bad week. Greg.

Speaker 1 (56:03):
I'm not coming hard at him, but I don't think
he's shown to be a difference maker for a minute.
It's certainly not on defense.

Speaker 3 (56:11):
Well that that's why you go out and you get
a difference maker, the former Ohio State offensive coordinator to
come in and really turn things around.

Speaker 5 (56:18):
But I honestly think I was waiting for it.

Speaker 3 (56:21):
We've well, if we're taking shots of people, why not
you know.

Speaker 5 (56:24):
Do you mean you're chipping away a little bit?

Speaker 1 (56:26):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (56:26):
Bit by bit Jackson Powers Johnson giving up four pressures
against the Colts, Like the Colts are front looked incredible
and you know they've been solid all year. But Parham Forsyth,
like the the Raiders have significant issues up front because
we talk a lot about in the in the run
game and I don't know, Gino's leading the league in interceptions.
He's playing poorly. They're playing poorly upfront.

Speaker 4 (56:48):
Yeah, yeah, it's a combination of things. And like I said,
I think we could have expected some of them. Like
I wasn't necessarily thrilled with their offensive line coming in
to the year, but I didn't think it was going
to look like this.

Speaker 1 (56:58):
And this could be Well, it's Jeffrey Simmons. He's not
getting much help on the edge the Titans. Look, the
Titans are gonna look at this game and think creditable
if we're ever going to win a game on the road.

Speaker 3 (57:12):
Again, second week in a row.

Speaker 2 (57:14):
This is a pretty good candidate.

Speaker 5 (57:16):
And cam Ward's playing awesome. He's so fun to watch.

Speaker 1 (57:20):
Last week was a very typical cam Ward game where
he had some groaners, some like what are you thinking?

Speaker 5 (57:26):
I don't even care about those?

Speaker 2 (57:27):
And he had I'm just here for the ride five.

Speaker 1 (57:30):
Or six throws in that game, most of him in
the second half that were just they just took your
breath away.

Speaker 5 (57:35):
Yeah, I love it. I love the potential here.

Speaker 4 (57:38):
I can't wait for I can't wait for five years
from now when he has a team around him.

Speaker 1 (57:42):
You know, so, I don't remember who I was listening
to that ask could you fire someone after a win?
That's because just because of how Brian Callahan handled this
game game management, and because of how happy he was
when he would just get these lucky touchdowns. He was
like celebrating on the field and buy everyonever. But if
I was Brian Kelleen, I'd be happy to must have
felt good. Why wouldn't you? Wouldn't you celebrate? These are

(58:04):
teams that, by the way, and we're going to wrap
up here could be very interesting at the trade deadline? Yeah?
Would would they ever listen about Max Crosby? I checked,
like no dead money? Would they? They definitely would listen
about Jacoby Myers. You would think, who's on the last
year of his contract? Here's one that would have been
interesting before the Bengals went and got Joe Flacco. Would

(58:26):
they would they think about trading Geno it was really
on a one year contract? No? Would they would a
team that needs a quarter like would the Vikings? Like
if things go really sideways or I'm trying to think
of a team that like be like.

Speaker 5 (58:41):
You have them a decent line.

Speaker 2 (58:42):
Greg, Hey, I'm.

Speaker 1 (58:44):
Just saying like, yeah, hey, you're probably not gonna keep
Geno next year at this rate. There's like kind of
no long term punt. I'm just saying Calvin Ridley would
be another one.

Speaker 3 (58:53):
The problem is a team with a decent line is
probably not in position to be trading for a quarterback anyway.

Speaker 5 (58:58):
I mean, if your quarterback gets hurt, m don't wish
that on anyone.

Speaker 1 (59:02):
Knock on wood, Okay, that was it. Raiders Titans, We're
gonna be battling to see who gets that beauty. The
mess off Sunday morning, looking forward to it. Also looking
forward to our NFC preview. So keep listening, hang tight,
and we'll be right there with the NFC
