Speaker 1 (00:04):
Welcome to NFL Daily where we're not getting involved in
another PFF grading debate. I am Greg Rosenthal. I am
here in the Chris Westling podcast studio. It is a
full house. My favorite day Wednesday with Steve Weisch, Jordan
Rodriege and Patrick claybaughn We're all back.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Yes, I love it, even front four three, Front four
three fun.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
We do a liability at nose tackle here.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
See we do when they go. If you're watching on
on YouTube, thank you like and subscribe. Hey, if you're
listening in the podcast, give us a review, give us
five stars when they go to the two shot. If
you're watching on NFL channel or YouTube, we definitely keep
Steve next to me to protect me from any like
you know, blindside defenders coming coming out.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
It's just a very uneven distribution.
Speaker 5 (00:53):
I got you no its proportion wise, we have to
keep it blocked up. We get it blocked up for
thirty five inch arms right here. Patrick, allow us to
be your shield.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
So we we divide the shows every week. If you're
new on Wednesdays to AFC and NFC home teams, this
will be the final doubleheader week of the year. It's
gonna be the final London game of the year, so
it's a little lighter on like the Sunday afternoon games.
It might be the final doubleheader of all time, and
(01:24):
they got two of the best games of the week.
But we're not starting there.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
No, we're not starting there.
Speaker 5 (01:27):
We're starting with a great game in the AFC, Yes,
with the Indianapolis Colts at the Los Angeles Chargers, who
are favored by one and a half points the over
runners forty eight.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
And a half.
Speaker 5 (01:37):
Iron Eagle JJ Watt Evan Washburn on the call as Greg.
The Chargers got a little bit of their mojo back,
do they keep it going against one of the best
teams in football right now?
Speaker 1 (01:47):
That win that the Chargers had was so necessary and
yet like didn't make me feel any differently or better
about where they're at right now. Like their center Bradley
Boseman is a problem. He's starting to get targeted right now.
He is on pace to give up more pressures than
any center of the last six seasons. So I find
(02:09):
this matchup really interesting because I think the weaker sides
of the ball will face off against each other. So
I think the Chargers offense right now is the weaker side.
The Colts defense is frisky, but it's the weaker side there,
and then the stronger units will also face off against
each other.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
So when the.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Chargers have the ball, I am curious of like what bespoke,
you know, defensive game plan lou and Arumo comes up
with to attack this Chargers team. Right now, we're assuming
as we tape that this will not be the game.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Joe alt is back.
Speaker 6 (02:38):
Is just like the Ultimate Revenge Tour though loop for
Lou Anaarumo. Yeah, it wasn't me. I was not the problem. No,
look to Forrest Buckner, probably swing back a little bit
over the nose tackle, He'll probably play a little one,
little three. I just I'm with you that Chargers win
just because Miami's a disaster.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Didn't move the knee.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Me.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
I don't know how they're favored right here, because Colts
are playing good football, and you know, we talk about
maybe the defensive side not being the strongest side, but
it's pretty damn it's pretty damn good and it's getting better.
I just don't know if the Colts are I'm sorry,
the Chargers, as well as they can play on defense,
can slow down this offense.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
With Daniel Jones in this running game.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
It's the top offense in the NFL right now, certainly
top five, top three in most if not all categories.
They are number one and EPA per play number one
and EPA per rush rushing success rate at nearly fifty
percent and Daniel Jones guys is number two in the
NFL through Week six and PA per dropback. But what
(03:40):
I love about what they're doing and I think it
will continue to give this Chargers defense that really came
out of the gate incredibly strong but has sort of
slipped and struggled with some identity issues in the game
since you know, the weeks one and two and three
of the season. They're so balanced the Colts are. They
are running the ball, they're in twelve personnel, they're eleven personnel.
(04:03):
They're an eleven personnel two to one ratio to twelve personnel,
which means they're really balanced with how they want to
pass the ball and then the different looks they can
get into both in lighter sets and heavier sets to
run the ball. And they're so balanced. They're running the
ball almost fifty percent of the time, but they're not
doing it super predictably. They're not doing it just on
early downs or things like that. They're mixing things up
(04:25):
very well. Chane Steiken's in his.
Speaker 6 (04:27):
Bag, his bag in large part too. Their offensive line
is killing. Yeah, their offensive lines playing really well. You
talk about playing that twelve personnel Tyler Warren anybody, right,
and you.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Can't even count as twelve personnel. It's like one hundred
personnel with Tyler Warren.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
They stopped even playing like a fourth receiver last week.
And they can change up what they want to do
depending on the week, depending on the game plan.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
And how they want to attack teams, especially deep where
coming end of the season. My entire brain on the
Daniel Jones situation was based solely on one stet eight
completions of twenty or more are yards during.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
His entire time, Yeah, entire time in New York. Drafted
in twenty nine.
Speaker 5 (05:04):
He's crazy crazy, He's got five already by freeze.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
All of them are, all of them to your guy, No,
not all to Alec Pierce.
Speaker 5 (05:11):
Of them are, but still like he's he's gonna eclipse
his entire deep passing numbers here before we even get
halfway through the season. And then over on the other side,
we talked about coach lou they're not necessarily in the
top half in the top third of the league in
terms of pressures, but when they do get pressure, ye
quarterbacks are only completing forty percent of their passes.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
So like when when the wins are there, they they
win everywhere.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
And the Chargers traded for a Dafe away because they
don't have much of a pass rush right now, and
he helped out last week in terms of their pass rush.
But with Jones, he had two plays last week which
again if you're watching like you can see these throws
where he is making game winning type of plays against pressure.
There was one where he just stands in there early
(05:56):
and hits a pass over the middle. Oh to your guy, Alec,
who I like that. They're using him on a more
of a variety of routes lately.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
That's an inn.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
And that's Daniel Jones, like standing in there against pressure.
Late in the game, they have a third and eight
and you remember the Jonathan Taylor run to take the lead,
and you remember the Jonathan Taylor being able to end
the game when they know the run is coming and
they have eight in the box. But that's only set
up by Daniel Jones. Standing in there on a third
and eight before taking a hit to maybe the most
(06:28):
underrated slot receiver in the league in terms of Josh Down.
So I don't know if the Chargers defense has enough
for them.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Yeah, I mean I expect them to kind of keep
doing what they're doing and hope that this pass rush
has evolved enough with Oway's arrival and sort of getting
a week at least under his feet to bring back
what they really want to do under Jesse Minter, which
is play like that match zone out of the shell
and really make it tough for all these passing layers.
Then setting up the run. The Chargers love to play
(06:55):
with a light box that will not bode well. Yeah,
I guess Jonathan Taylor, this is a bad match up
the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
That's the game. There's gonna run the ball.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Yeah, and they can and they should.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
It's a team in terms of the Colts that is,
you know, among the league leaders, and in terms of
blitzing defensive backs and some pressure. So it will really
ask the offensive line to sort those things out and
justin Herbert to sort it all out. Ultimately, you look
at their four wins and he's done something crazy in
each one. Of them, and that has Jim Harbaugh's quote
(07:25):
of the week.
Speaker 7 (07:25):
Mission Impossible movie The Final the Final Reckoning, I think
it's called. I was watching that on the caught a
little bit of that on the plane on the way
back from from Miami, and that's what I was like, Hey,
like Ethan Hunt, justin Herbert, I mean, there are people
(07:47):
don't realize all the you know, the things that they do.
You know, Mission Impossible kind of says it all. Then
he just he's like Ethan Hunt.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
I love that Jim Harbaugh isn't watching game film on
the way home, He's watching Mission Impossible.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
Like that's my kind of cove.
Speaker 6 (08:05):
I've actually had like conversations with him about this at
the league meetings. Steve, you got to watch this crazy
like Mission Impossible type show. I've watched it streaming driving
here from wherever and it was the worst.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
It was like, it was horrible.
Speaker 6 (08:21):
I'll never tell him that unless he's listening here, but
I was like, yeah, this is Jim.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
I could see him and Tom Cruise getting along.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
I can see him just I don't know, like I
see him more as like a Mattlock type of guy.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
But uh, I guess okay, he's a Jack Richard, you know.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Keep an eye on the injury report for this game.
Charvarius Ward, you know, had that concussion last week. And
so they're getting it done, winning games with Makai Blackman,
Jonathan Edwards and Chris Lammon's as they're starting cornerbacks, and
so those are real people. When when people are like, oh,
how could the Eagles win without one just average cornerback,
(09:01):
It's like the Colts are getting it done with guys
that that you have not heard of. And then, unfortunately,
Brett Rippen was signed to be their backup quarterback because
Anthony Richardson. I say unfortunately, I'm saying it's unfortunate because
Anthony Richardson had the most unfortunate injury of the year.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
Breaking You used to remember.
Speaker 6 (09:24):
When he started that game against the Packers for the Rams,
and that's that's the change.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Fortunate, it changed everything.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
Yeah, rough, make sure that those those exercise bands are
fully stable. Everybody nothing happy, especially on a rough one
as Richardson's fractured orbital from a resistance band in its attachment.
Let's go to a team that could win the New
Jersey State championship over the course of two weeks. The
Denver Broncos playing host to the Giants. They are favored
(09:52):
by seven. The over under is forty and a half.
The best to ever do it. Kevin Harland, Trent Green,
Melanie Collins on the call, Steve As we get a
chance to see Jackson Dart go up against the defense
that we probably don't want Jackson Dark to play. No
but a seven point favorite. I mean Denver's offenses has
not gotten on track.
Speaker 6 (10:10):
I mean you're you're waiting as he flashes, but they
haven't really gotten going in The Giants defense is problematic.
I mean, they can cause some issues. The way they
rotate guys up front. You know, I fully expect Denver
to win this game because their defense is so insane.
Nick Benito e po Y, I mean he's real, folks.
This is the second year in to row he's done this. Yeah,
(10:31):
I mean he's done. But I mean the way they
rotate guys through uh, defensively, this is this is gonna
be so hard for the Giants to get anything going.
So I just I love watching Denver's defense and what now,
how you're seeing Talao Hufunga just like everywhere, Like he's
really vance Joseph's like, okay, exactly what to do with
(10:52):
this chess piece, Like they are just taking to the
next level defensively. So this is not gonna be I'm
not saying it's definitely not going to be great for
Jackson Dart, but it's not going to be good.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
For Jackson Dart.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
Well. I think you're going to see another game where
you're concerned about, like the physical well being of Jackson
Dart as well as Cam Scataby with some of the
hits that they're going to be taking because they will
try to go human battering Ram and Jackson Dart's going
to have to try to run it because he cannot
complete deep passes unfortunately for him. Malik Neighbors being gone
is a huge part of that. He only has one
completion of ten deep pass attempts so far since he
(11:25):
took over. And the Broncos can play the Giants as
tight as they can and coverage because they are that
good in the secondary, and they are forcing the NFL's
lowest passer rating for quarterbacks on short, quick passes, which
is really the only thing that Jackson Dart is able
to do with this passing offense. So he's going to
take off and run a lot, which is kind of
(11:47):
feast or famine if you're the Giants and they're still waiting.
By the way, don't go in the blue tent, guys, Okay,
we're just they're still waiting to hear what the just
don't go in there. It's not for you. It's not
a place for you. Don't go in. That's it.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
He I worry that he will be going into that
blue ten because of the way that he plays. He
has such a wild statistical profile. You mentioned the deep passes,
Like he is throwing deep passes if you even extend
it out to like, you know, fifteen plus, like at
among the highest rates of anyone in the league. Like
he's giving his guys chances to make plays, but they
just have not been good throws and they're not.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Making those plays.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
He's also running at by far the highest rate of
any quarterback in the league if you combine scrambles and
design runs, both of those, actually he's top two. And
then when you combine them, like they're as run heavy
as any team out there.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
That said, I thought he made really good decisions.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
Yeah, and that's that's why I'm really curious to watch
this matchup because the Broncos specialty is making substandard passing
games look awful. Yeah, but I don't know, maybe the
Giants are a substandard passing game. They're coming off a
pretty impressive performance against the Eagles, one of the worst
game of the Vic Fangio era. I would say it
was last week against this Giants passing game.
Speaker 5 (12:58):
And I think the quick change of into subout Quinon
Mitchell and maybe some you know, we.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Don't know if he's going to be available. That's a
good note, Thank you.
Speaker 5 (13:06):
Having to to kind of make these these constant adjustments
when they haven't really known what they wanted to do
opposite Quinnon, and so like the sudden change there probably
was a little bit of an issue. But to go
back to Nick Benito because if if you go on
next gen sets and you sack quarterback pressure percentage, of
course there's going to be a bunch of blitzers at
the top. Right, Nick Benito is the only edge defender
(13:29):
in the top twenty, Like it's all linebackers.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
Yeah, can you hear us?
Speaker 2 (13:34):
We need we need Gregg the tweet here too.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
The crazy thing is we were patting him on the
back all season two incredible how he like took all
the games from last year and built on it.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
In one poorly worded tweet, so.
Speaker 5 (13:46):
Like once once you're able to get that pressure, because
like the the instant impact of Jackson Dart was to
unlock the full day ball RPO experience. And what we've
seen by so much Jackson Dart running is when the
run in the instant, that first read pass aren't available
for Jackson Dart, he's out the gate. But how much
of that is going to be available against this defense
(14:07):
where it's just hard to imagine other than a lot
of scataboo screens.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
And like short and said, yeah, power up the middle.
Speaker 6 (14:14):
I'll tell you this. Let's say this that skataboo. I mean,
anyone who plays you never show your numbers. You never
show your numbers. He shows his numbers.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Man. He takes shots like he delivers shots.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
He likes it.
Speaker 6 (14:24):
Yeah, I talked about in about week thirteen. He takes
some blows.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
I think that one thing that is promising that I
know the Broncos are scouting this week about what worked
for the Giants is I was pretty impressed with how
Jackson Dart handled kind of all of his assignments at
the line of scrimmage for somebody so young and so
inexperienced relative and he's kind of an older prospect and
all that. But like I point at Greg when I
say this, because you hate old quarterbacks.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Oh I thought it says I was the old one,
But no, I got Steve here with me.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
You're not.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
Usually I am, Usually I am.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
But but he he was getting a lot of information,
like gathering a lot of information with some of the
hard counts. He got the Eagles to jump off sides.
He got them to move early or declare their pressure early,
and that's something that you know, Yes, quarterback's worth anything
in the league. Do this right. But at the same time,
the little tells and the little advantages and edges, like
the Broncos will bring pressure, bet on that, and they'll
(15:18):
bring a lot of different types of pressure, and they
want to try to make him run so that they
can sort of keep the cap around the quarterback, as
they say. So I feel like this is going to
be really interesting because they're going to give him everything
he's got. He's going to try to do the old
some of the old tricks that Dabll is going to
remind him to do in the headset right before it
shuts off, and then after that it's kind of going
to be like two bowling balls versus an entire defense.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
And he's been pretty good in the quick game too,
which they didn't have him do at all in college.
So like he's shown some really good progress, I think
from even where he was as a prospect. Whereas if
you reverse bo Nix's two seasons, I think people would
be panicking just a little bit. And that matchup when
they have the ball is interesting too. I'm not ready
to declare a Shane bowensons or anything, but I do
(16:03):
think the Giants defense last week did more of what
everyone's been asking for. They benched Deontay Banks, they were
much more creative and how they attacked Jalen Hurts, and
I thought they had a good week.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
So can they build on that? The run defense has
been been pretty bad all.
Speaker 5 (16:19):
Your on the Giants defense, though, Greg there was still
that moment where DeVonta Smith was running down the field
by himself, like they're doing it.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
They're making the same mistakes that they've made.
Speaker 5 (16:31):
It's just Hurts and the Eagles offense a little wiggily
that one, But a fun game. Nonetheless, looking forward to
the Giants at the Denver Broncos, but not as much fun.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
It's our next match. It's gonna be a ten.
Speaker 4 (16:46):
The Jordan Games.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
We're going back to London.
Speaker 5 (16:49):
The Los Angeles Rams, off of a narrow somehow win
against the Baltimore Ravens, are favored by three against the
home team in this one. Jacksonville Jaguar's forty four point
five is the over under the games on NFL Network.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Where we care about people and each other. Rich Eisen,
Kurt Water, and Sarah Wallas to see the Jacks trying
to bounce backward. I love Barley Morning Football on Sunday,
Ryse Shine and watch. Are you ready for this?
Speaker 3 (17:19):
I'm so ready.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
It's the McVeigh bol What did they say to Patrick
at the all hands meeting this week?
Speaker 3 (17:30):
It's the McVeigh tree Bowl. It's the sneed Tree Bowl? Right,
It's the what the hell cast might happen between either
of these two offenses Bowl? Because my god, are both
offenses making some mistakes? Despite the win loss record? Watching
these games, you think yes, yes, yes, yes, no no
no about four plays a game from both of these offenses.
(17:52):
The big story lines out of each side this week
is Puka Akua, obviously, the Los Angeles Rams star receiver,
might not play this week. I would expect him to
try to go, knowing him and knowing what he did
a couple of years ago on a short week against
Minnesota where he's ruled out and then suddenly ruled back
in and really surprised that that Thursday night football game.
(18:12):
But I don't know that it would be smart necessarily
to play him in this one that far away from home,
with that long of a flight back in case something
else happens. And then in Jacksonville, Devin Lloyd, who's leading
the team in takeaways right now, is also ruled out.
So that's those that those star players on either side
key storylines coming out of there this week.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Yeah, it's huge. And they're also trying to integrate Greg
Newsom into their defense. Immediately put him like with tough
assignments a week ago, and he gets burned a little
bit the Jaguars defense.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
So I think the.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Loss of Lloyd as big as a loss as Pooka is, Like,
don't underrate the loss of Devin Lloyd to that Jaguars defense.
Speaker 6 (18:49):
Yeah, I mean, and he's a guy who's you know,
if there's a comeback player of the Year for nine
even players so far, it's it's Devin Lloyd.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
So what Sean gonna do.
Speaker 6 (18:56):
He's going to try to hit some stuff in that game, backer,
a lot of running back passes coming, winning ten some.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
Stuff that way.
Speaker 6 (19:05):
So it's interesting the Jaguars are are confounding team to
me because you see all the talent. Of course, Trevor
is kind of lynchman because he's just so hot and cold.
And I think this is a game if that the
Rams defensive front as aggressive as they are, If Trevory
runs the football like we saw him do a couple
of weeks ago, if he's Clemson Trevor, They're gonna put
(19:25):
the Rams defense in some predicaments. And so I think
this is this might end up being the game of
the week. I think it's gonna be hell.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
Of a game. Patrick has already hyped it up to
the point where it should.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Be, and I Patrick's not the only one everyone's fired
up for this.
Speaker 6 (19:41):
I mean, this is one where I think it's it's
the running backs, you know, etm if he gets it going,
you know, if Kyroen gets it going, I think that's
those two guys in the running pass games are gonna
be the difference.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
It's two defenses where that is where you think you
want to attack it. And the Jaguars started the season
as one of the best looking running teams in the league.
Is slowed down just a bit that the Rams numbers
on the ground are fantastic, and you mentioned that battle
in terms of the Rams pass rush. It is a
reminder the Jaguars offensive line to me, because I was
(20:12):
quoting some numbers last week of like how careful you
have to be with like what opponents they face this year,
because their offensive line numbers in some of these games
has been fantastic, but it was against some of the
worst pass rushing teams in the league, and then last
week you show up against a real deal pass rush
and it goes horribly. And they also were without Robert Hainsey,
(20:35):
which ball Knower's like Ali Connelly have been saying maybe
one of the most underrated best centers in the league
and really has changed their offense. We don't know about
his status for this week, so they were without him.
And the Rams meanwhile are second in the NFL in
terms of QB knockdown percentage like either a sack or
a QB hit and they barely blitz. So that is
a great four man rush and a big test for
(20:55):
the Jaguars, But they are.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
The Jaguars are really thanking the Baltimore Ravens for that
last quarter when Tyler Huntley stup. Huntley was in the
game ye and reminded everybody in the building and everybody
watching advanced scouting from Jacksonville that the Rams pass rush,
for as fearsome and talented as they are, still have
so many issues covering running quarterbacks quarter when quarterbacks go
(21:21):
on the move. Steve brought it up earlier. I think
that if they do that type of plan against Trevor
Lawrence specifically, not only do you mitigate some of that
pressure against the offensive line that you know they're going
to bring, but also you if you can create out
of structure at all against this front, because they are
having trouble containing running quarterback. The Rams secondary I do
(21:43):
not trust at all. The safeties are good, but I
do not trust. I do not trust any of the corners,
the perimeter guys. This is this is I think a
big crucial plot point of this game.
Speaker 5 (21:54):
And an opportunity for you know, Trevor Lawrence and Travis
Hunter as well as Brian Thomas Junior to make those
sorts of players that we didn't see. We saw BTJ
make a play, but Travis was lined up a foot
of side.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
Probably Thomas's best game of the year. It made me
feel good.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Yeah, a little bit better.
Speaker 5 (22:11):
But we can get BTJ to, you know, make some
plays on the ball a little bit higher, not let
the ball get into his body a little bit more.
And over on defense, I'm just concerned with as much
zone as they play, like one of the most zone
dominant defenses in the league, without Devin Lloyd being a
midle of it against Matthew Stafford. Zone up, Yeah, sut
it out all season, dangerous, dangerous matchup.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (22:34):
Can I kind of raise a hand for somebody who's
just falling right now? Is Nate Lanman.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
Yes, I just gonna say, when I see a dude.
Speaker 6 (22:40):
Get seventeen tackles, that's usually when your team is getting
the break speed off of it and one dude's making
all the play seventeen tackles.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
And force another and a fourth down stop as one
of those.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
Like man, you know, when you're Trevor Lawrence, And yes,
I fully expect them to come in with the game plan.
If you're running the football, be careful running it in
anywhere in Nate Landman's direction, because mister fumble, Trevor Lawrence
is gonna have a hard time holding onto that football
against the punch out of Nate Landman. Enter Landman.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
I do like that you brought up Lawrence's playmaking because
I've been pretty critical of Lawrence this year and even
how he played last week. But the playmaking is a
big reason why they were able to stay in that game,
and he had a bad luck and he has been
doing better with that. I am curious in this game
too if they can get you know, if there's no Puka, like,
can we get DeVante unlocked a little bit?
Speaker 4 (23:33):
To my eye, he looks good.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Yeah, but some drops this year for sure, it's been
quite inefficient throwing to him, Like just a lot of incompletions.
If you just look at the catch percentage, they're quite
bad in the red zone and a lot of those
throws have been to DeVante Adams in the red zone.
He was supposed to help there. His contested catch percentage
is low. Like it it just hasn't all been clicking
(23:57):
yet for him. And this will be a big spotlight
game on NFL Network.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
Wish I was there. Wembley Stadium.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
The Jaguars'll play at Wembley Stadium every year. The other
games are at Hottenham Hotspurs Stadium. And yes, this is
the last London game of the year. We're just getting
going on the previous show. Let's take a quick break
and we'll come back and we'll talk about one of the.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
Best rivalries in football.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Before we took a little break, I teased this upcoming
game between the Chiefs and the Raiders, saying one of
the best rivalries in the league. And maybe the outsiders
will say it's one side of the Chiefs are heavily favored,
but the fans hat each other, and rivalries are about
the fans. I mean, I really do think that's where
you get the college football type atmosphere. And I will say,
(24:51):
maybe the rest of the league doesn't care too much
about Antonio Prierce like losing his job in terms of
their wins and losses. I think the Chiefs are one
team that's happy Antonio Peers, Yeah, lost that job because
Antonio Piers had a pretty good beat on the Chiefs
offense over the last couple of years, and the Raiders
made those games close.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
Yeah, one something too.
Speaker 5 (25:09):
In fact, I think we don't get a couple of
chief Super Bowls if the Raiders didn't win and drive
that bus around. He take a victory lap, and Andy
Reid said afterwards, they won that game, so they can
do anything they want to do.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
But then he added, that's not our style on Kansas City.
Speaker 5 (25:26):
John Cruden era go to three Super Bowls after that,
and now they play host to those Las Vegas Raiders.
They are an eleven and a half point favorite. The
over under is forty five and a half CBS one.
It's Jim, Tony and Tracy on the call as Greg.
The Chiefs are gonna get Rashi Rice back? Are they
a fully operational battle station?
Speaker 4 (25:46):
They are?
Speaker 1 (25:47):
They are ready are one of, if not the best
offense in the league before getting Rice back. It's like
it's crept up on us a little bit. But they're
second in DVOA. Like this is the best three game
stretch I mentioned in terms of points scored that they've
had since two It's a really good offensive line and yeah,
when you look at those strength, the schedule numbers. Sometimes
it's about when you play him. This feels like the
(26:08):
worst time to play the Chiefs getting Rice back. Meanwhile,
you know the Raiders are going to have just their
static defense with all the guys play all the snaps.
They're one of the only teams they just play two
cornerbacks and that's it. And Q Blue Kelly and Eric Stokes,
they will be out there for every single snap, and
I feel like they're gonna.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
Have a difficult time in this one.
Speaker 6 (26:27):
I think Jordan and I are quietly chuckling when you
said the Chiefs offensive line with all the tweets wee
exchange earlier this year, like oooh left tackle, right guard, man,
that's an issue, but the unbalanced but they've looked so
good and that's without their left tackle playing last week.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
Or probably this week. I'm glad glad you mentioned.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
Yeah, that's everything's okay. I don't really know a lot.
Speaker 6 (26:46):
Real peculiar about going on, but they they they got it.
I don't know if it was Mahomes going and the guys,
it's over flipped the switch. Let's go because Kelsey's playing.
Get both tight end involved in the passing game. Opening
up everything from intermediate to the deep passing game, and
all of a sudden, their run game looks legit, like
(27:08):
where's the checko?
Speaker 2 (27:09):
Ben?
Speaker 6 (27:09):
Like, now he's showing it up Kareem Hunt finishing off
games the way they're playing.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
So they just had it.
Speaker 6 (27:15):
You could tell it was like, Okay, it's time to
get it going, same thing they did last year, and
they are rolling right now. And then the Raiders, Man,
I you know you're away from me to your away.
Yeah it's your favorite, it is, but it's true.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
I think with the Chiefs offense, the best way I
could probably describe them is looming in a good way
for them, in an ominous way I think for everybody else,
because you can see some of the little cogs and
wheels and Andy Reid's brain and Patrick Mahomes's brain starting
to turn a little bit more with some of the
(27:49):
things that they're setting up more under center runs last week,
for example, Okay, you're setting things up to have that
stability to start moving Patrick Mahomes's spot in a way
that's natural, not him running for his life in a
way that's starting to unlock some of the misdirection and
some of the things that we know Andrew really wants
to do vertically and horizontally. With these speed receivers, You're
(28:11):
starting to see the offensive line dig in and sink
in together, even with the leage's highest paid backup left
tackle or swing tackle played pretty well left to your point, Greg,
and so, I feel like this is like the Chiefs
starting to you know, when someone I mean, I've never
been punched, but when somebody is about to is winding up,
they're about to haul back and hitch you. That's what
(28:34):
the Chiefs are doing right now. They're they're locked and
loaded here.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Yeah, we've got fresh off of a team getting hit.
The Lions.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
Did not actually mean.
Speaker 5 (28:51):
Man who sees, And some defenders around the league have
reached out and said, like, Branch did nothing wrong. Apparently
there's like some sneaky heat with Juju and a lot
of defenders.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
Oh, I feel like Juju is very much like in
the CJ.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
Gardner Johnson mode, just like someone that you know just
pokes the other team. And there was a clip of
him with a totally dirty blind side block on Brian
Branch with three minutes left in that game, so that
that provided some context to that post. Right, I'm not
saying I'm not defending, but it gives context.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
I was like, Okay, I I accidentally sidetracked into the conversations.
I know who Patrick would like to hit.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
No.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
One, Chip Kelly.
Speaker 5 (29:37):
Well look, if I'm in the Patrick violence draft, kicked,
chip Kelly is way.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
Down the list.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
Okay, you know what, You're right?
Speaker 1 (29:44):
How about among NFL figures though you know he'd be
high up there.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
Still still you know, if we're doing wish casting, you know, I'm.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
Not a I mean, what's he doing to Geno.
Speaker 5 (29:53):
It's like it's a lot of short passes where it's
like we're hiding g know at this point, and maybe
hiding the rest of the offense, which is.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
Probably like a good idea.
Speaker 5 (30:05):
Ashton Genty able to have a thirty two percent mistackle rate,
but that not necessarily translating to that many yards, especially
like if you think about a guy like Bijan who
we saw in space creating breaking tackles like Ashton Genty
breaking tackles to a similar extent, but having to do
so much work behind the line of scrimmage where it's
(30:25):
it's just not necessarily happening, and so yeah, like not
to put it all on chip, but at some point
you got to do something different if you want different results.
Speaker 3 (30:34):
Yeah, it's that and the offensive line and no brock Bauers,
all in confluence.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
Bower is not expected to play in this game at
this point, and all.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
In confluence with each other, and the inability to coach
around it. And I think all of that at once
is true.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
So we alluded to it before.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
But just to clarify, Josh Simmons, their first round left tackle,
is away from the team with a personal issue.
Speaker 4 (30:55):
He was in California.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
They asked Patrick Mahomes about it and he said he
was pray for Josh Simmons. And that's just where we're
at with that situation. Otherwise, it's a very healthy team.
The Kansas City is one of the most in the
entire NFL, and I think replacing those Juju snaps with
Rashid Rice snaps is going to add even more speed
to a speedy offense.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
They may be old, but they're healthy, but they're healthy.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
And the defense looked like a Chief defense.
Speaker 6 (31:24):
Chris Jones balled out, Car laugh Is balled out, you know,
Nick Bolton balled out Jue Trank.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
Will we say it every year like charges.
Speaker 6 (31:33):
Actually let us go go like he shows up like
that defense is playing Chiefs defense down too.
Speaker 5 (31:39):
All right, congratulations to the resurgent Kansas City Chiefs who
have been doubted and disrespected enough and I guess they're
going to go back to the action. So long on
the heels of all of our collective disrespect. Speaking up,
the Miami Dolphins are on the road at the Cleveland Browns,
where we'll get to see Kyllan Gabriel going once again.
Two and a half point favorites are the Browns at home,
(32:02):
Spiroddis out of Marchalletta, and Aditi Kinkabala there in what
has been a tumultuous week, a whole bunch of tumultuous
weeks in Miami.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
Steeve, who do you side with them?
Speaker 6 (32:13):
And and Tuas facing the guy who broke all his
high school records over on the island of Owahu.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
That's pretty cool, just before we even get into that's
it's pretty cool. Two left handed quarterbacks from Hawaii, one Hawaiian,
one of Samonan descent, one who is like kind of
like a childhood hero, a guy he looked up to.
Speaker 4 (32:31):
To the other, it's pretty cool.
Speaker 6 (32:32):
Yeah, I mean This is going to be in the
two teams of chaos right now, the Browns trying to
figure it out. Miles Garrett saying, must be nice to
be able to rush the passer with the down lead.
After last week's game and Tua basically airing out some
home business when he should have kept that to himself.
(32:53):
I'm sure he's endeared himself to some Thanksgiving dinner invitation
by his team. Look, this is this is one right
here where I think Cleveland's if they're going to win
a ball game.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Sorry, this is good.
Speaker 6 (33:08):
This has got to be Their defense has got to
show up against an offense. I can't figure anything out.
Dylan Gabriel, you can show up. You can you can
beat two again. You already be got his high school records.
You can get him again. Because this Dolphins defense, the teeth,
there's just there's just there's nothing there. You're seeing Jalen Phillips,
a good player, just getting you know, unable to bring
(33:28):
quarterbacks down.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
It's it's it is.
Speaker 6 (33:32):
And after what happened last week, I mean, you talk
about something that can blow a locker room up, this
is that is absolutely the powder keg with Tua did
after that game where it's every it's gonna be every
man for himself pretty soon.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
And I'll take Patrick's line. The thing that matters most
and it's compounding the issues that that are clearly surfacing
week after week after week in that building, and the
frustrations with each other, and the bad looks by Tua
and bad looks all around for this entire team. The
worst of all is that they can't stop anything. And
(34:06):
just when they're starting to get their offense itself back together,
starting to look okay in the passing game at least
even without Tyreek Hill, Darren Waller's really come around. Miami
is allowing opposing offenses to score sixty percent of the time.
Speaker 4 (34:21):
That is huge.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
Thing that is that is a record since two thousand.
Like that is that is the most important thing.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
No, it's not their cybersecurity attendance reports.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
Tua did apologize, you know, he said, I think he
got some internal heat too, Like he apologized on Wednesday,
and they all tried to move past. He said he's
going to keep things in house from now on over
but I agree with you, it is ultimately the house.
So they they did make some changes last week. I
noticed Kenneth Grant playing a lot less their first round pick.
(34:56):
They put Minka Fitzpatrick in the slot, so that helped out.
I believe in terms of their secondary they have you know,
three safeties on the field essentially at the time, but
they've just had such surprising no shows. Chop Robinson has
six pressures this year. Oh, I'm shocked by that. He
looked so good last year not and he's not on
the field that that much, but six pressure is crazy.
(35:19):
Chub hasn't been hasn't been good. And their second round pick,
you know, Jonasavanea on the offensive line, like that might
be the worst guard combination him and Cole Strange in
the league. So they're trying to overcome a lot and
this is a very tough defense to try to overcome
it against. But on the flip side, like the Browns
offense is a sinkhole too, so it's it's weakness on notair.
(35:43):
This week could be a quinch on Duck.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Yeah you could be.
Speaker 6 (35:47):
Yeah, you playing fantasy, you might want to have him
starting for you this week.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
I noticed PFF has, you know, they they rank receivers,
which it's not like the perfect position, but I just
happened to notice a lot of the guys who had
twenty targets out of sixty eight wide receivers ranked sixty
seventh and sixty eighth, where Isaiah Bond and Jerry Judy
and like. Out of eighty seven receivers in ESPN's receiver score,
Jerry Judy was eighty seventh. I mean, he is killing
(36:12):
them with drops and penalties and not being as open.
And Gabriel has n't been perfect, but they had five
drops on him last week.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
Killed one including one where I really saw. I mean,
I've been kind of high on Dylan Gabriel anyway, since
hearing all about him when he was still a prospect
and what scouts were thinking of him and all that stuff.
But there was a throw the Dylan Gabriel and I
think that they connect done this this week, Dylan Gabriel
getting the ball to Harold fan and I think that's
a huge part of what in the end zone game plans. You. No,
(36:41):
it is down the left sideline and he was going
to go all I mean, it was going to be
for sure a house call, and Harold Fannon dropped it
and it was a beautiful could not have hit him
anymore and let him with the throw. Could not have
been a more gorgeous timing throw, And it was like,
that's the that's the future of what this game is
going to look like and what the next few games
(37:02):
are going to look like for the Browns. If they
can connect on those, you're scar you're gonna start to
see some positivity kind of leaking out of that Brown's offense.
And certainly that building the.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
Vibes for the loser of this game will be.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
I got to horrendous vibes are going to be bad
no matter what.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
Now, the winner, the win, it'll it'll feel better. Dolphins,
they can't lose this game. But I would say the same.
And yet, and yet they're underdogs to the Browns.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
Sixty. Speaking of sixty, that's most of Greg's first name.
Speaker 5 (37:32):
Dolphins run to the left sixty one percent of the time.
Huh they're one handed on offensive on hn gets hit
behind the line of scrimmage when they run right fifty
six percent of the time.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
Oh yeah, only.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
Twenty nine percent winning the other way.
Speaker 5 (37:49):
Uh so, yeah, that that's the direction Miles that the
Fens will be running my house.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
He playing on the right side this week?
Speaker 5 (37:55):
Yeah, hopefully you know, no meeting attendance reports will be
shared because apparently that's the worst thing to ever happened.
Speaker 3 (38:01):
Sixty percent.
Speaker 5 (38:03):
It's a lot to our next matchup the resurgent Carolina.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
Here, we're going on the road. We'll see a Vizio
ever squad, which is incredible.
Speaker 5 (38:13):
It's Charlotte can be good on the road at the
Jets in New Jersey as they try to bounce back
from a nightmare performance in London, Jordan. The over unders
forty two and a half. Chris Meyers, Marks Laith and
Sarah Kustock on the call. Do fields in the gang
bounce back?
Speaker 3 (38:30):
I can't believe I'm saying this right now. This feels
like a trap game for the Carolina papers.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
Honestly, behind an emerged running game, they are third in
offensive rushing success and excuse me, third and offensive rushing
success rate and have improved to number fourteen overall for
the season in EPA per play on offense. They are ascending.
They did, and people were quick to point this out
(38:58):
to me. I am cumulative here. People were quick to
point out they played the Dolphins and the Cowboys defenses. Okay, fine,
but for the entirety of the year This is a
dramatic upswing and improvement week over week by this team
that's starting to figure it out, that's getting an identity
behind Rico Dawdle. This is pretty cool. They're getting some
(39:18):
guys back, but caid Mays. They're getting Austin Corbi back,
but cad Mays might keep the job. He looks great
at center.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
Yeah, I look schedule matters they I checked this because
I was curious, Like, offensively, they faced the second easiest
schedule in the league and it's for them and they
needed it right, It's only got to get easier this week.
But in terms of like the defensive improvement, they just
shut down one of the best running games in the league.
So they turned a total weakness in terms of their
run defense into a string. It's bizarre though, because to
(39:46):
use a fantasy football term, they're a pass funnel now
where they're much better stopping the run the Panthers run
defense than they are, they're still pretty bad stopping the
pass the Jet.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
That's not a good matchup for the Jets.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
Yeah, the Jets are not a team that can take
advantage of you through the air, especially without Garrett Wilson,
and he's not practicing Wednesday. It's uncertain if he'll play,
you know, this week, but it's not sounding great.
Speaker 6 (40:11):
I'm looking at the Panthers, you know, rico' donald's got
like what four hundred.
Speaker 3 (40:15):
Plus fifty five.
Speaker 2 (40:16):
Yeah, in two games.
Speaker 6 (40:18):
They're running the ball well, and it's not like they're
handcuffing Bryce. I mean, I think you do it just
just more than twenty times last game, but he do
it thirty the previous game. He's being fairly efficient. He
hasn't thrown for more than two hundred yards in those games.
That's what the short the quick passing game. But te
Roa McMillan got his first touchdown. He looks right. This
offense is fine. I love the way that some of
(40:39):
the blocking schemes that they're doing. And then Rico donnall,
once you get to the next level, he's doing his thing.
The Jets aren't great defensively, there's no reason to think
the Donald train's gonna stop. And offensively the Jets, you know,
I think it might be time for us to look
at justin field and say, maybe it's not the offensive
coordinators of this game.
Speaker 2 (40:58):
But that the quarterback.
Speaker 3 (40:59):
But that's why I'm saying this, this feels like a
trapped There is some interesting splits in like how Bryce
Young and this defense, by the way, has played in
home games versus away games. The passerrating difference is ninety
four point eight at home games, seventy six point eight
in away games. The stats touchdown interception ratio is not
that different five to two at home five to three away,
(41:21):
But his completion percentage drops on the road, and his
EPA per play drops on the road, and so but
so I'm like, Okay, I've been seeing Bryce Young put
it together right, and this run game is really stabilizing
him and some of the decisions that he's making and
that laser on fourth down to Hunter Renfro to just
(41:42):
basically essentially win this game last week, and the way
the confidence that he's playing with, Like I see it,
and I'm like, don't play down to your opponent this week.
Speaker 1 (41:51):
I mean, they were the underdone get trapped until everyone
started betting it, so at least when it opened, like
the Jets were considered their favorite.
Speaker 4 (41:58):
I don't think they're at the line is four groog No,
I can hear that.
Speaker 1 (42:01):
I get it, but either way, it's sort of viewed
as a as a toss up. I do think the
Jets defense played so much better in that game in
London than they had all season long that you could
at least hope that a turnaround is happening there because
there were pretty specific changes that they made, like Jarvis
Brownlee has turned into a dude in the as their
(42:23):
slot cornerback who they traded for Jermaine Johnson was back
and that kids that changed a big time upgrade.
Speaker 4 (42:29):
And then who is it they benched? It was their
safety Tony Adams.
Speaker 1 (42:34):
They just stopped playing him and they played Malachi more
and so they made some changes and so maybe their
defense to give some positivity is on the upswing for
the Jets.
Speaker 5 (42:42):
Yes, to the extent that you know, Sean Payton was
making rage play calls.
Speaker 2 (42:47):
Just out of sheer frustration.
Speaker 1 (42:48):
So too A Hubbard might be back for this game,
but there's no vision to make.
Speaker 4 (42:52):
There's no promise.
Speaker 1 (42:53):
It sounds like they're going with Rico Daudle as the
starter because he said there's no promise that they're going
to start Chebah.
Speaker 3 (42:58):
The Jets defense is watching the pan. There's defense and
this is the Lord. I've seen what you've done for
others game.
Speaker 5 (43:04):
Yeah, hope before a turnaround that I did not think
was possible. But they've done it, and so like previously,
as of three weeks ago, I was old Briest goes
huge in this game, But considering what we've seen in
the past few weeks, I'm not necessarily.
Speaker 3 (43:18):
Get a win.
Speaker 4 (43:19):
Get the four and three, Carol.
Speaker 2 (43:20):
I'll tell you. The Panthers to me are one of
the top four or five story lines.
Speaker 3 (43:24):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (43:26):
Did not see this comment.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
I love them because they've taken so much smoke over
the last They've earned it. They've earned they've earned it,
but especially on defense, and man, I just I like
seeing them play with more confidence. I don't want to
hear about their schedule. I'm sorry they needed like, yeah,
I had.
Speaker 1 (43:42):
To explain so much in the NFL, That's okay, It's
just how it works with the Patriots.
Speaker 3 (43:46):
But beat the teams you're supposed to beat, competent teams,
beat the teams are supposed to beat. This team hadn't
been competent. Now they look competent and then some and
I love it, and it's near and dear to my heart.
Speaker 4 (43:55):
Greg half this speaking.
Speaker 5 (43:58):
Of those New England Patriots. They are a seven point
favorite on the road. As Mike Rabel makes his return
to Nashville, Tennessee to take on the franchise that ruined
well gave him a great opportunity to go coach with
a team that he used to play for. The over
under is forty two and a half. Andrew cattle On,
Charles Davis, Jason mccordy, and AJ Ross on the call.
Speaker 2 (44:20):
Do the Titans get the coach firing bump, Greg?
Speaker 1 (44:23):
I think they will. I think they'll play tough. I
believe in the mystical power of the fired coach principal.
Our guy Spice Rack, who's been on the show many times,
you know, has the numbers, and the numbers support it.
And in this case, it is a revenge game. Mike
Rabel certainly did not like how ownership in Tennessee handled
(44:45):
the end of his tenure, not just allowing John Robinson
to trade AJ Brown, but then then how they fired
Mike Rabel for Ran Carthon and he didn't even last
a year there. And you're right, it did end up
happily for Rabel in a place familiar with. He did
have to spend a year with the Browns before that,
so that couldn't have been that much fun.
Speaker 3 (45:04):
And adjacent to Ohio State where Jim Kelly.
Speaker 4 (45:10):
That's he learned a lot had some players there.
Speaker 2 (45:12):
Though.
Speaker 1 (45:12):
Let's listen to Mike Rabel talk about his return to Nashville.
Speaker 8 (45:16):
This is going to be probably a lot to be
said about this, and I think would file under the
category of you know, is it interesting or important? And
I would probably say this would be very interesting, but
in the end not very important to our preparation or
what we need to continue to try to do to
improve as a team.
Speaker 1 (45:35):
Love that that I'm going to go through just inspired
by Rabel here some things.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
What I called you interesting but not important? How would
you life?
Speaker 2 (45:46):
That would be right pretty much on point.
Speaker 1 (45:49):
I think that could be a segment I feel like
for our show, just throwing out things, whether it's interesting
or important. Marcus Jones important one sneaky one of the
best players on the Patriots this year, certainly outstanding as
a returner, but he is getting done week after week
at cornerback for a couple of years though, Yeah, but
(46:11):
this this year it's been next level. Sometimes cornerbacks have
those years where not just the ball finds them, but
that they make game changing plays, like week after week
he has been their best cornerback, much better like than
Carlton Davis is making all that money. For instance, the
Patriots are dead last in the league in EPA per rush. Yes,
I would say that's interesting and important.
Speaker 3 (46:30):
Yes, and only thirty three percent rushing success rate, which
is also way at the bottom of the league. And
they're not blocking it either, less than a yard before
contact per rush.
Speaker 4 (46:41):
Oh yeah, I put almost nothing on Carbon and Remandre.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
Important and interesting.
Speaker 1 (46:46):
Yes, the fumbles are on Remandre, but they can't block,
which just outlines how well.
Speaker 4 (46:53):
May is played. And I think schedule is massive.
Speaker 1 (46:56):
I think it's massive, Like schedule really does explain a
lot of like what we talk about in the NFL,
and sometimes you just have the cake schedule, the personal shot.
And the Patriots have had a cake schedule and they're
going to continue to have a cake schedule. Like if
you look at the bottom ten teams in terms of
like EPA per player or whatever in this entire in
the entire league, like they're all on the Patriots schedule.
Speaker 4 (47:17):
And that's helped Drake me out.
Speaker 1 (47:19):
But I the level of that he's playing is higher
than I could have even expect.
Speaker 6 (47:24):
We could say this every year though, when it comes
to there eduling it and things like this, Here's here's
why they gets you know, interesting and maybe not important.
Not only when you mentioned John Robinson getting fired with
Mike Rabell was coaching in Tennessee because the A. J.
Speaker 2 (47:36):
Brown trade.
Speaker 6 (47:37):
Brian Kellahan just got fired because Mike Rabils taking his
young quarterback to New Heights. Brian Callahan took him nowhere.
So I think that factored into part of that decision
as well, because they were a disaster. Look, I don't
think Tennessy gets the bump. I just hey, you know,
winner's good spirits. They got no players. I mean, I'm
(47:57):
just and and I say say this, take a shot
at them. But I do not understand the roster construction
for over the past three years, for how they tried
to build this team.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
Now they finally got their quarterback.
Speaker 6 (48:08):
Sievers are all over the place, the offensive line's all
over the place, the defensive defense has Jeffrey Simmons and
who else. Like it's one of these things where at
least with the Patriots now you can see some semblance
of their roster construction. They're trying to fix an offensive
line that's not good. They got the quarterback, they got
him going, They've got some offensive pieces they're trying to
(48:28):
get going. Tians have no identity, and it's gonna take it.
It's gonna take them a while to get that identity
because we don't even know if Raganzi he's leading this
coaching start, it's gonna be back as GM. He's only
been with the Chiefs, which is why Matt Neggy's being
mentioned this potential head coach camp.
Speaker 2 (48:43):
For that job.
Speaker 6 (48:44):
And I think he's He's definitely would be stunned if
he doesn't get an interview.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
But I don't this week. I just don't think they
get the bump. I think the Patriots go five and two.
They've got the high breaker over them.
Speaker 3 (48:56):
Are they buyers at the deadline?
Speaker 4 (48:57):
Greg?
Speaker 1 (48:57):
If they if they have tons of cap space, they
want to take advantage of this opportunity going into vision.
Speaker 2 (49:05):
Maybe they look across the sideline. That's some pieces. You know.
Speaker 5 (49:08):
Personally, I think the Titans could, you know, build for
the future and ship out Snead and Simmons to Baltimore.
Speaker 3 (49:13):
You know, no reason whatsoever.
Speaker 1 (49:17):
Simmons would be an interesting doesn't really make sense on
the Patriots, where their best position I guess is defensive tackle.
Calvin Ridley feels like a guy that should Buffalo and
will be traded. I wouldn't necessarily want them on the Patriots.
Just seems like an inconsistent player. They got enough like
solid receivers, I.
Speaker 4 (49:38):
Think, Greg.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
I know, I'm just saying Keyshon Boody is is worth
keeping in the lineup.
Speaker 4 (49:46):
Tefon Diggs is doing his thing.
Speaker 1 (49:49):
If you're gonna go get someone, go get a J Brown,
you know, go go get like a premier player. But
they don't. They don't need another two slash three. Mike Frabel,
by the way, not getting too sentimental about it, it
said that a good will off Eighth Avenue in Nashville
got a fantastic haul of his Titans memorabilia. He's not
(50:10):
a guy who keeps mementos, So my guess is there
it's gone by now because he moved quite a while ago.
But that's if you're looking for, like a sweaty undershirt
with Titans on it, sustaining, probably not.
Speaker 5 (50:25):
Like not all sweaty. The coaches get a lot of merch. Yeah,
and for him for not pitching it welcome back to
the to the head coach merch World, Mike McCoy, uh
five and eleven in that last Philip Rivers year for
the San Diego Chargers back in our lives as the
Titans interim head coach.
Speaker 1 (50:42):
Yeah, I uh I was there. I was there for
Mike McCoy's final game. Was It was a sad day
because Chargers fans, you know, have to say goodbye to
the old Jack Murphy to their team. And uh, I
will never just forget the smell in that stadium. It
just it is never I've never been at a sporting event.
(51:03):
And including the Doctor Dre halftime show that just more
people were smoking joints the entire game.
Speaker 4 (51:09):
It was just like a.
Speaker 1 (51:10):
Big old party. It was as San Diego as it gets.
Uh this show was ill. I'm not going to say
as san Diego as it gets, but it was. It
was relaxed, it was fun a lot like San Diego.
We're gonna stop right here. We're going to be back
with all the NFC games, So listen up.
Speaker 3 (51:26):
Matthew Stafford
