Speaker 1 (00:10):
Welcome to another edition of the Fantasy Cheat Cheat. Hi
Fukus Grant Joey by Michael and Florio and Lakwan Jos.
How are you feeling on this Thursday, fellas?
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Good, good good. It's almost a weekend.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
It is literally There's a lot of things we're gonna
get into, including Florio's gear. But I do want to
start the show with a little bit of personal news.
I'm gonna take this opportunity to tell you that this
is gonna be my last cheat sheet because I have
been elected Pope, so I'm gonna take over. I'm packing
my things moving to Vatican City right after we are
(00:43):
done here. So but it's gonna go to ride. I
appreciate all yourself.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
It sounds good, sounds good. First split second, I was like, wait,
you're not really gonna tell us you're leaving live on air, right,
Like we've earned more than that. I got shocked for
a second. I was like, no, don't please, don't do this.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
That that would have been an f up thing to
do for sure, that would have been screwed up. No,
I'm not actually leaving. But yeah, they did announce a
new pope. You know, social media is going crazy with it.
A lot of the pick is in sort of thing.
Yeah right, the Cardinals have made a selection. We had
some stuff to get into today. We've got some news
(01:20):
headlines with some fantasy veteran winners and losers. Awesome. You know,
we'll take your comments, anything you guys have to say,
any questions you guys have, We're certainly here for all
that as well. But because this is a show where
we also engage in nonsense and that sort of thing,
we should probably start with the New York Knickerbockers, who
have a two lead in the in their series against
(01:45):
We have that mostly because we want to just get
this in. We wanted to see that.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
It's the person tattooed of themselves on their arm that
is that is amazing?
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Is that?
Speaker 2 (01:56):
What is that you?
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Because I was assuming that was like John Stark's or something.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
I think it's supposed to be me, like an AI
version of me with a me tattoo apparently.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Oh yeah, I mean I know that was an AI
version of you. I just thought you were you had
John Starks on your or something.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
This should definitely be your background on your phone. Man,
just downloaded it.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Should be probably should ai gave me the crazy eyes.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
They did give you the crazy eyes. That's that's kind
of way.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
It's kind of scary looking at it.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Yeah, that's that's kind of what Jonathan. That's kind of
what I does. I'm distracted looking at some other things here. Yeah,
the next roup two oh and apparently the secret the
secret sauces to get down by twenty and then let
Michel Bridges pick Jason Tatum's pocket and uh, you know,
it's all good.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
I came out here on Tuesday and said it was
the most televised chain graban, Richard Sherman and Michael Crabtree.
This is the most televised one since two days ago,
or every one of those five pigs, mikel Bridges and look,
people are being like, if Boston hits their shot, they're
gonna win this series. Okay, great. Josh Hart was the
leading scorer last night. He had more points than og
(03:06):
Ananobi and Jalen Brunson combined. And the Knicks won. Please
stop acting like the Knicks are playing their best ball
right now. Last night was one of the worst games
I've seen them play, and they somehow won. I don't
know what's going on. I am I am loving every
single second of it.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Though, Oh yeah, I'm sure you are certainly and that
now you're great.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Like I'm like seeing Knicks fans happy though, Like this
isn't like a happy Cowboys fan or a happy Eagles fan,
Like this is a happy fan base that you guys
deserve this, man, I'm actually happy that you and my
friends are happy right now.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Oh, because you know Cowboy fans like Cowboys have won
championships in my lifetime, I am. I am nearly half
a hundred, and I have not lived to see the
Knicks win a championship. I'm not won a title in
my lifetime.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
I've really started watching, like I remember like the Patrick
Ewing Knicks and stuff, but I really started watching like
right after two thousand so since i've been like an
actual fan. The closest they've been to the Eastern Conference
finals was last year. Like, wow, this team has been
and it's not even like this team was like had
(04:11):
fun years, Like this team had decades where it'd be
like one solid season and and that's it. And like
Nick fans are there every night, the ticket price has
never dropped. Their loud all the time, Like I know
people hate us and I don't care because no fan
base has deserved the right to celebrate more in my opinion,
than the New York Knicks.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Yeah. Look, I'm cheer for you, mostly because I just
don't want Boston sports teams to prosper. So I'm on
your appreciate. This is not an NBA Playoffs live stream,
No that it would be fun.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
But the Knicks are the podcasts, the team of this podcast, right,
even though you're a Warriors guy.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Mark, Yeah, they're They're They're in a different conference, so
I don't have to worry about them for the time being, so,
you know whatever, I'm fine with it. But they were
fantasy football talks and NFL football. A couple of news
headlines of note before we dive into our face fantasy
veteran winners and losers. Here. News that hit yesterday. These
Steelers have traded away George Pickens to the aforementioned Dallas Cowboys.
(05:11):
They got draft picks and stuff in return. The actual
football side of it is for a different time, on
a different show, not this one where we're talking about
the you know, the actual offense of of it and
the the expectations of it. So George Pickens leaves Pittsburgh,
which has to be kind and uncertain quarterback situation to
(05:33):
Dallas Cowboys, where they know who their starting quarterback is
going to be when healthy, it is Dak Prescott. So, Lakwan, you,
being the George Pickens whisperer on this show, how far
should he move up draft boards?
Speaker 2 (05:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
I just made that up.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
When did that happen?
Speaker 1 (05:50):
I literally just made that up on the fly. How
far should he move up draft boards? Though? Now that
he's going to a place where a guy that we
know can deliver the football.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
So before the trade, like on Sunday, I was doing
a best Ball draft and I looked up at where
he was going, and he's going in the seventh round,
which is not terrible of like where he was going.
So like if with this trade and expectations of this
Cowboys offense, I could see him move to the fifth
round and that's only two rounds up. But this is
where you get the room of dunesdas the Jordan Addison's
the chrysal Lavees, and like we got to understand, like
(06:21):
this is gonna be a heavy, heavy wide receiver like
draft this summer, Like what's going on with guys and
how this best ball. You know, drafts are going right now,
so I could see him like as a guy, like
if you need a solid wide receiver too, you could
bank on Dak Prescott healthy to go out there and
throw a lot of touchdowns. Because when we look at
Dak in his last couple of years, since twenty nineteen,
(06:42):
he's been a guy to have just as many thirty
plus touchdowns as a Patrick Mahomes, as a Joe Burrow
and Josh Allen. It's only four guys in the league
that have been able to do that. So when healthy
Dak is slinging that rock and all we need from
George Pickens really it's just a couple of deep balls
because when we look at his best season, which was
twenty three hit one thousand yards, we only had like
(07:03):
sixty catches. Like he can get his yards and chunks,
so where Cedee Lamb can still exist as that number
one alpha and still get the change moving and do
everything else. So I'm looking at, you know, George Pickens
as a wide receiver too that you should be targeting
on this Cowboys often.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
So I mean that sort of sounds like Florida, Like
it's kind of same as it ever was, right, because
wasn't he basically just a wide receiver too in Pittsburgh
that we were kind of targeting in the mid rounds.
I mean, I guess he moves up, but I guess
the outlook doesn't really change, right.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
Yeah, you know, it stays pretty similar. I The only
difference is it's a huge QB upgrade. And the thing
is I compared the like Russell Wilson's numbers to well
him and fields for the games that they played to
Dak Prescott's last year, and they were actually better than
Dak was last season. But I think that was circumstantial.
(07:53):
Like I still to believe Dak is a pretty high
quality QB in the NFL. He just he now has
someone opposite of Ceedee Lamb who can win because last
season there really wasn't a lot of help out there,
especially when Jake Ferguson was out. They didn't really have
a strong run game. The O line was questionable, and
(08:13):
that I think got overlooked a little bit as well
that they used their assets to try to rebuild that
O line this offseason. But who I really think is
a winner here is Ceedee Lamb, because not only does
defensive attention gets taken off of him. But now they
have a true guy who could play out wide and
be an X and where CD thrives. Look ced can
(08:35):
win outside. There's nothing he can't do. But where I
believe he's at his very best is in the slot.
And last season he got to do that on about
half of his routes. I wouldn't be surprised if that
number shoots up a little bit higher this year. And
that is the path of Cedee Lamb getting back to
because I know last year he was very good, but
he wasn't what he was two years ago, and that's
(08:56):
how he can get back to that in my opinion.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
I mean, there is no doubt that he needed some help, right,
He needed somebody to take attention off of him, and
certainly George Pickens is going to be the guy to
kind of do some of that stuff. So it gains
It's back to Pittsburgh though, right they bring in DK
Metcalf and I know there was some talk I guess
that you know they could move George Pickens, so you
(09:20):
know Florida, you say Pickens going to Dallas helped ceed Lamb,
does Pickens leaving Pittsburgh help.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
DK Metcalf potentially in the sense of the fit was
a weird fit that they both were kind of similar
styled wide receivers. They went in different ways, like DK
is a better separator, Dickens is a better contested catch guy,
but they both are primarily out wide wide receivers who
win downfield. So it seemed like they were gonna kind
(09:48):
of be eating off of one another's plates a bit.
Now there's more volume that is going to go DK's way.
Still got to see who the QB is. And I
still don't know if the Steelers are done here because
even let's say they bring in Aaron Rodgers, like they're
gonna want more, You're gonna want more receiver help, right
(10:09):
Like I think Keenan Allen would slide in perfectly as
a slot guy here. But Amari Cooper is out there,
Gabe Davis is out there. Maybe Aaron Rodgers calls up
Randall Cobb, bro Allen Wizard or something like that. Like
they're still a work in progress, I feel like. But
from a real life standpoint, I'm like, your offense is
pretty much what it was last year, right, Like one
(10:31):
alpha wide receiver and that's kind of it, but instead
you gave up a lot of draft picks and a
ton of money to get there. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Yeah, Do we know who's on the stick though, it's
it's Arthur Smith. This is literally the Falcons offense all
over again. Like you have the premiere running back in
a Bijon Robinson a ka Caleb Johnson. Right now you
got the scab back the guys.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're gonna slide that bias. You're comparing
Caleb Johnson to be John Robinson.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
In his eyes. This is what I'm saying. He's going
to have them split the carries here, and what this
offense is looking like is going to have a mid
tier quarterback, which I don't believe they're going in Week
one with Mason Rudolph. But even if you insert Aaron Rodgers,
we haven't seen Aaron Rodgers play good football in like
three years, so I don't even know if he's going
to be the upgrade that this offense needs for DK
Metcalf to be the wide receiver one to get that
(11:22):
return because honestly, he's going in the fifth round strong
as the wide receiver twenty eight and that's in the
range of where this draft is very heavy in these
best ball leagues where you have twenty eight to thirty
wide receivers off the board in the first four rounds.
So it's like, do I want to jump into that
bag where it's going to be a very limited offense.
It's going to be a run heavy offense. And what
they're postering for because you got Robert Woods for what, oh,
(11:45):
the run block because he's very good at that. The
boy gave Davis is on the street right now. If
they want to give him a call to stretch the
field and run block, they could do so. But it's
just forming into this Falcons offense that we have seen
to where the wide receiver one which we can insert
dk Metcalf here, was Drake London a very limited wide
receiver one. He's like a fringe wide receiver one that
his price right now in drafts and what it's possibly
(12:07):
going to be because he's going to see a high
target share from a mid tier quarterback. It doesn't sell
me to go out there and draft them. So my
take on it is, I'm staying away from the Steelers
offense unless it's a running back like Caleb or if
Jayalen Warren's going to be getting a little bit more
dip out of that passion game.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Well, it's it's interesting to hear you turn a corner
on Caleb Johnson considering you were considered. I mean, you
felt like you needed some no doe no doze and
a thermist full of coffee to watch his game tape,
you know, during the offseason before the draft, and now
you've kind of come around on him a little bit. Also,
you started listening off wide receivers and I was waiting
for you to say a name that would get me excited,
(12:43):
and you never got there.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Nobody lives.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
There's just there's nothing exciting about the Steelers offense. And
I think I think the argument for DK Metcalf is
who else are they really going to throw the ball to?
I mean, that's kind of it, right, There's there's nothing
else exciting about it. I would be okay with him
in bestball situations, but even that as like a third
wide reason no, I mean a low wide receiver two.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Yeah, I thought about that too, because you're gonna have
to pay that wide receiver two price for him though, though,
because like I just said, like thirty wide receivers went
off in the first four rounds and the one Best
Ball League I did on Sunday, I looked before that
it was close to that twenty eight mark of where
they were going.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
In the first four rounds.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Even when we did our mock, wide receivers were flying
off the board and you're like, what's happening. So when
you really look beyond that fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth round,
you're looking at some really nasty wide receivers in that
range where you're like, yeah, I shouldn't have waited to
get this wide receiver too. I should take the risk
on some of these guys in the first four rounds.
But DK's not one of them, then I'm willing to
(13:46):
roll the dice.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
On Yeah, that's kind of where I am too.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
So top twenty wide receiver in points per game once
in his career and nasty even in recent years when
like one, he never this is the cheapest he's been
in a while. But like even like last year, all
the hype was there for him. It's always so boom
or bust because that is the style of play and
wide receiver that he is. Like I was kicking myself
(14:11):
last year because I allowed the hype of like the
new BOC and stuff to suck me in. I'm done.
I for years I was Tyler Lockett over DK Metcalf.
But I don't know if I'm ever going to draft
DK again.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
We don't we don't need Aaron Rodgers to I mean,
I guess we do in the sense of we can
just stop talking about it and just have it be done.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Yeah, that's where I'm that way, Like I'm sick of
saying his name. I will never say his name again.
After he signs, that's when we'll react. I'm not saying
it again.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Yeah. I he only makes them marginally better. I think
that's it. Yeah, he's better than Mason Rudolph.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Like at least we can have some touchdowns on the table,
you know, Like I think Aaron Rodgers would be better
in that red zone in getting them to the red
zone versus of Mason Rudolph with a very low touchdown percentage.
I mean, the guy hasn't started more than eight games
in his entire career. That's why I'm posturing like it's
either Kirk Cousins or it's the other guy. Like there's
no other way that we can really see them going
(15:08):
Week one with Mason Rudolph.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
You're debating between Aaron Rodgers and the one starting quarterback
who like was noticeably worse, like not one, but one
of the few that were noticeably worse than he was
last year. Like and to me, Rogers lost the deep
ball last year, right like DeVante Adams was not winning
on the deep ball at all last year. Neither was
Garret Wilson. I think it was of the qbs who
(15:30):
attempted as many passes as him. I believe his air
yards per throw was second lowest in the NFL. Like,
and now you're you're giving him a wide receiver who's
a stretched the field specially like, by the way, interesting
decisions and doesn't fit.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
By the way, being better than Mason Rudolph is like
being the tallest kindergartener. You're still.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Hot takes. They might perform better with Mason.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Hey, look how they won more games with that wil
Just one more games with Zach Wilson they did with
Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
That is true. They made the Steelers made the playoffs
with Mason Rudolph.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
To you, true, so true, so but a season long thing.
I think it was only five games he played.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
I mean, yeah, he played him in the end. But
that's what they like because they lost the Bills in
the playoffs. I remember like they were really hot coming
into that game and people were like, this is all
we need. And then Mason threw a deep ball in
the playoff game and people were like, see, like.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
I have the best friend back home who's a Steelers fan,
and like he's part of that crowd, Like he's okay
with Mason Rudolph, Like he looked me dead in my
face from facetimes, like, bro, we're going to the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
From Mason Rudolph, I'm like, are you serious right now? Like,
to be fair, they made no matter who the QB
has been, so I at least I like it makes
They're like, we did it with Kenny Pickett, we could
do it with Mason Rudolph.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
I guess man, it's real crazy.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
Okay, Sure, I don't agree, but I'm just saying I
could see where they're they're getting their delusion, where they're
getting the sickness.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
So one of the comments from Fantasy's Finest Thing, I
need Kirk Cousins traded to the Steelers for the sake
of my dynasty team. He's my QB three.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Sure, he's your QB eight man.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
But speaking of Dynasty, we talked about the Carolina Panthers
who bad news for Jonathan Brooks. He is on the
pup list because of the ACL that he toured late
last season means he is done for the entirety of
twenty twenty five. I mean, lakwan at this point, if
you have Brooks in Dynasty, I mean, are you? Are
(17:36):
you moving on now? I feel bad for the kid.
He just can't seem to stay healthy.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
You have to.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
I think you were ready to move on after we
heard and got noticed, Like this year is a deep
running back draft class, so you were probably able to replace,
you know, replace him rather easy if you were drafting
correctly in your rookie drash.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
But it's just one of those sad stories. Man.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
He never got off the ground. You know, we never
ever really got to see him at his peak, all
the hype coming out of college. But it's just one
of those situations where it's like if you wait too long,
if you want to play this game, to hold on,
like now, we'll wait until he bounces back in twenty six,
twenty seven, You're you're gonna be looking in the past.
You're gonna swerve off the road, and your dynasty league
is gonna look terrible. You're not gonna win any game.
(18:16):
So I think now it's the time to strike, To
move on. You might get a couple of those folks
who are still interested in him, that still live off
of that college hype and it's still in their brain
and memory of like, hey.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
You know, if he gets an opportunity, he may be good.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
But I just feel as though, like it's it's a
doub it's over.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
Yeah, it's it's unfortunate. Man, he's a kid with it.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
I'm not giving up. See sell it to Florio. What
do you think? I'm not paying up for him? But
I feel like most people are gonna be like, ah,
he's out all year and everything, and I to me,
this is kind of Look, not getting hurt is best
case scenario, but not rushing him back I think is
best for him and giving him the time to recover
(18:56):
he might be done. Two way SLS could could do it. Look,
if I could get him for real, cheat, I'm willing
to take that upside Dart.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Yeah, I mean, look, I guess you know. The upside
as a dynasty manager is that you're not going to
have to give up much to acquire him at this point.
So if you have the space and it's worth, you know,
worth the wait, then you give it a shot, give
it a year, and see what happens after that. For sure,
I'm gonna have three other small bitter news. Julian Edelman
(19:24):
is going to be inducted as the thirty seventh member
of the Patriots Hall of Fame. Question I always like
to ask in these situations is is Julian edemle is anybody?
But is Julian Edelman in this instance? Is he a
fantasy Hall of Famer for you guys? No?
Speaker 2 (19:40):
And I'll look, these are some people who have more
career receiving yards than Julian Edelman. Marshall Falk who is
not a wife, okay, Jeremy Macklin, AJ Brown, Alan Robinson,
Marvin Jones, Chris Godwin, George Kittle, Like Justin Jefferson's been
in the league for four years, he already has more
(20:01):
receiving yards than Julian Edelman did in his career. And
the argument people always make for Edelman as a real
Hall of Famer is like, look what he did in
the playoffs, that doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
For fans.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
So yeah, like he's he's a good player who was
propped up by one of the best to ever do it.
But no, he's not getting in my fantasy Hall of Fame,
no way.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Yeah, and I'm looking. I'm looking at it right now too.
Like the run was relatively short and the high the
highs were not very high, right, I mean his career
high in yards for a season and seventeen seven touchdowns
was a career high. He also is one of those
(20:44):
guys who, if you like me, are against full point PPR.
He's one of the people who radicalized you against it, right,
I mean you know, I mean this guy one hundred.
I'm looking at twenty thirteen one hundred and five, which
is for one thousand and fifty six yards just slightly
(21:04):
over at sen yards to catch.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
Like, yeah, I like to make the debate because I
think you guys made a gesture before when I said
this that Cooper Cup should be in the Fantasy Football
Hall of Fame and in the Hall of Fame in
general in real life.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Yeah, yeah, he is a stronger case than you guys
have a strong case in Edelman.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
I just want to check the temperature because I thought
we were going to come on here and get crazy,
and like, yeah, Julian Edelman had his moments and had
his highs and wide receiver seven and twenty nineteen. I
thought we were gonna put him in there, sneak him
in there.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
But I'm gonna draw back, no, you guys.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
I mean, look, he's got more touchdowns than Edelman, He's
got more receiving yards than Edelman. He's got a stronger
case than Edelman for both fantasy. Like I'm not I'm
not putting him many. I'm not giving him a gold
jacket yet, but I'm telling you his case is stronger
than Edelman's, said the Falan Fronder the pod.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Adam Thielen has like fifteen hundred more career yards than Julian.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
Edelmans I put him in my notes, So I was like,
I'm a rather have Adam Thielen in there, man, because,
like I think Julian Edeman was a good player at
the time, Like of course he was propped up by
Tom Brady, but like he's he was like a top
twenty wide receiver at best, you know what I mean,
most of his career at these peaks, like I don't.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Know, yeah, yeah, you know, it's just like I just
I mean, when I first saw the headline, I'm like, oh,
I wonder right, because you know, there were moments, there
are times where it's like, yeah, you wanted Julian Edelman,
you wanted him in your starting lineup. But I think
when you step back and you kind of look at it,
you're like, yeah, no, no, I don't think.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
He has five hundred more career yards than Tyler Boyd.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
Only thirty six touchdowns in his career, and he wasn't
really a full time starter until his what's fifth season,
you know, I mean he was kind of, you know,
a starter.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
For all the hype that his playoff numbers get too.
He has five career playoff touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
He's just had. He just came up big and big
moments for them. That's what it was.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
He had a three hundred and forty two yard game.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
All the gas came from Boston in the Super Bowl
from the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Wow, no, wait, that is not.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
Is he the best like among like New England wide receivers, Like, no.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Randy Moss was. It was short lived, right, yeah, I
mean like the peak was insane for Randy Moss. But
he just wasn't there. I mean, he didn't win a
super Bowl. No, he did not. He did not because uh,
you know, Eli Manny in the helmet catch stopped him
(23:39):
from winning a Super Bowl. So yeah, it's.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
All pros, Like, what are we what are we doing for.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Adam Wes Welker ahead of Edelmund?
Speaker 1 (23:49):
Yeah, all right, Welker, Wes Welker, Julian Edelman or Danny A. Mondola.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Dude, It's like it's like a Pokemon. Danny Ammidola is
the starter, then they evolve into Julian Edelman and the
third evolution is Wes Welker.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
I mean, you know, play like a an FMK with
the Patriots slot receivers or something like that.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
You know, I don't know, that's.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
Mister Patriots. It's a claim Randy Moss. That's probably fair. No,
that's right fair. I mean Randy Moss to me is
always a Viking. He's a Viking.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
Welker had five seasons with over one thousand yards and
he had a fifteen hundred yard season. Yeah that's crazy.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
Yeah yeah, So all right, so we are we are
I think we were all decided that Julian Edelman is
not a fantasy Hall of Famer.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
Sorry, Julian Edelman, you were just mine in your own
business and we kind.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
Of piled up.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Yeah, it just it just sort of happened. Anyway, the
main topic of today show now that we are, you know,
twenty five minutes into it, I was talk about Fantasy
veteran winners and losers from the dress. You know how this,
you know how the cheat sheet goes. It's just it's
a little bit of chaos, Fantasy veteran winners and losers.
We each picked one winner, one loser. Lakwan Els your
(25:17):
your winner because your winner is a guy that I
did have on my list. He's not the one that
I ultimately picked, but he was on my list. So yeah,
who's your winner?
Speaker 2 (25:26):
Yeah, Baker Mayfield. Man.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
I mean, look, he got all his weapons back plus one.
So it's like, okay, well, this offense is still dangerous
and like when we look at the Bucks offense last season,
they were top five offense in scoring, so a lot
of touchdowns are going to be coming from this offense.
And having a Mecca Abuka as like the most lethal
debt piece that they can have on this offense. With
Jalen McMillan, Godwin, Mike Evans, etcetera, etcetera. It's like, if
(25:49):
any of these guys drop off or if there's injuries,
you have a guy that's ready to go fresh legs
that we know can perform and produce. So I think
Baker Mayfield is set up for the future, at least
for the duration of his contract there to be one
of these top fantasy quarterbacks. I understand that Liam Cohen's
not on the sticks anymore, but when we look at
what Baker did last year, man.
Speaker 2 (26:10):
Like he's just relentless.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
He like I comp his toughness to Matthew Stafford, like,
and you look at how Tampa just opened armed and
kind of like we're just like, yeah, this is our
guy very quickly in the two seasons he's been there,
Baker set up to be like successful for a very
long time. So and like in those dynasty leagues, like
I'm happy I'm looking at Baker Mayfield as like a
QB one. So it's definitely one of those situations like
(26:33):
you feel good about Baker on your rosters, and he
definitely came out of winner post draft.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
It's so funn with the way we talk about Baker
Bayfield now you know, the Browns could have used the
guy like that.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
Are even the Panthers the.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
Panthers at least, I feel like the Panthers, you know,
like we're still holding out hope for Bryce.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Ye listen, I was thinking about that when he came in.
Speaker 3 (26:57):
I was like, if he just waited two more years
at the time line shifted to where right now we're
at the spot where we need a guy to rejuvenate
his career.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
Baker would have been a perfect one man.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
Yeah, you always had that TNF game though, against the
against the Raiders, wear the sweating.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
I mean, I don't want to be I was a
Baker Mayfield fan the entire night.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
I mean literally, dude didn't even know where the lunch
room was and is out here slaying touchdown.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
Did even go to the facility? I don't want to
think like he didn't even Christmas down. I don't want
to be a hater here, but I don't think I'm
going to be, you know, hmm Okay, it just seems
like a natural regression. Like he had the highest of
all qbs last year. His touchdown percentage was higher the
(27:44):
highest over career average to me forty one touchdowns when
he never had a thirty touchdown season. Seems like a
pretty big.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
Regression, all right. I think that's I think that's fair.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
I longer thirty more touchdown then I.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
Do where were I would say that the argument in
favor of him, though, is at least the draft price
isn't ridiculous for Baker Mayfield, So I think I think
that can sort of counterbalance. I think some of that
a little bit. If you do a loser right now, lakwantwu.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
Oh sure tank though, I mean this is real quick.
I just reel bad for him, Like, man, you got
Jalen Nole and Jayden Higgins there, and it's like, even
if he comes back, and like let's just say, these
two rookies are developing very well, not even killing it,
how do you fit him back in what's being formed
now in this offense with the Texans? And like this
(28:35):
injury was gruesome, Like I watched it just before like
prepping for the show. I'm like, yeah, I don't know
this guy comes back the same, Like it's gonna be
one of those situations like he's barely gonna be on
the field, Like what do we do? So like them
drafting two wide receivers from the same team from IOSA.
It kind of looks like they're ready to move the
chapter and kind of move on now rather than wait
(28:57):
later to take the band aid off and they miss
out on some good quality or else.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
The Texans are really trying to sell some merchant, that big,
huge Ames Iowa market. You know, I just gotta kind
of brought it right. He just gotta make sure you
got it. You lock up the Ames. You know, the
Dodgers have locked up Japan with show Hey, and now
the Texan is trying to lock up Ames with Higgins.
And no, I don't even know what Ames is.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
It is the home of.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
Iowa State University, where those time all right, Florida, you're
your winner and your loser.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
My winner is Chase Brown, who was awesome last season.
And despite being awesome, it was like, are the Bengals
going to go out and add a running back this offseason?
And then he survived free agency and you're like, okay,
But the big thing was always the draft. It was
such a deep running back class. Could he come out
(29:53):
as the lead back there? And he did? Like I know,
they used to pick on on Taj Rooks. They signed
some j p Ryan Like, none of these to me
or moves that are like these guys are coming for
the starting gig. To me, these are our backup options. Guys.
You could you know, sprinkle in You're you're gonna have
(30:14):
to use other backs besides Chase Brown. He's not gonna
be a three hundred and fifty touch guy, but he's
going to lead plenty and again bigger than anything. I
think he's gonna be on the field for a ton
of passing downs. So Chase Brown, who finished as an
RB one last year, uh, is someone I'm really excited about.
And then oh, I didn't want to pick him. But
(30:35):
DeAndre Swift is also a huge winner. But I had
a list of running backs that I was like, hopeful
would survive the draft, and on it was Jalen Warren,
and unfortunately he did not because Arthur Smith drafted in
his mind, Jon Robinson two point zero as we heard,
and he's.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
Running a wild not the talent comp the situational man.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Geez No, But I do agree with you. I think
that Jalen Warren is locked into the role that he's
been locked into behind Nauji Harris. And the hope was
he could eventually free himself of nausey and run wild.
But now they have Caleb Johnson for the next four years,
so that that is unfortunately not going to happen for
Jalen Warren and he is what he has been the
(31:17):
last few years. And RB three that I'll have some
nice weeks and some single digit weeks that you hate.
Starting that nice week is probably like twelve points. To
be honest, I don't.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
Be interested in twelve points at your beak.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
Yeah, oh yeah, it's a Fantasy finals. Who's asked Caleb Johnson,
he goes Jeon Robinson two point zero. You must have
missed the earlier part of our show here when Lakwhan
was trying to make a point about the Steelers offense
and using analogies for Arthur Smith and saying that Caleb
Johnson is Bejon tendency, basically saying he's gonna play the
Jon Robinson role, not that he is Bjon Robbins.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
But john was capped like we're sitting here like why
is he not getting.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
In goal line carrier? I mean this might be you know, a.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
Little different, hopefully for Kaleb Johnson, but that was very
frustrating to watch and see.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
So does this mean.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
James Warren starts vulturing touchdowns?
Speaker 1 (32:09):
Does this mean Jaalen Warren is going to be the
Tyler Algier of the Steelers offense?
Speaker 3 (32:13):
Is that the I can see it happening because Algier
was catching more passes, running more routes for a period
of time than Bijon and then that's kind of swipped
over in the midute of the season. So like it
was just really just be Sean not getting red zone
carries or goal line carries. It was crazy. I mean,
Desmond Ritter had more than him at one point. It
was disgusting. Let's not do that again in Pittsburgh, please, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
The good thing is Aaron Rodgers is too old to
do that, and Jaylen Warren is too small, and John
Smith isn't there either. Unfortunately, all right, he should, although
I will say outside of ul Q, Arthur Smith does
deserve some credit for that because we bashed him that
whole year and being like you're using John Smith over
(32:55):
Kyle Pitts and then he was proving he kind of
it didn't come out right.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Where does Arthur Smith goes?
Speaker 2 (33:03):
Jith fan behind LQ.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
So there you go. There it is my my winners
and losing my winners. Caleb Williams one. He gets Ben Johnson,
who not only is a great play caller, but apparently
has a wicked slider. If you saw the first pitch
that he threw out, the first pitch he threw out
at the Cubs game, just just filthy movement apparently on
(33:28):
whatever he was throwing up there. But they also went
out and they added more pieces. Yes, they lose Keenan Allen,
who's getting up there in years. They draft uh Luther
Burden in the second round. They draft Colston Loveland in
the first round. So it is apparent that Ben Johnson
has plans for them. Maybe they are going to take
Loveland and try to make him a new Sam Laporta.
(33:49):
Maybe they try to figure out some things with Burden,
put him in the slot and let him sort of
operate where Keenan Allen used to operate. But either way,
I mean he went on and got a little bit
of offensive line help too in the so they are
really trying to build this thing in Chicago around a
quarterback that they believe can be their guy for years
to come. So I think Caleb Williams a big winner
(34:10):
and I think the expectations understandably are going to be
ratcheted up for him this year staying in the division
for my losers. It's I was like I was saying.
I was like, is it Christian Watson? Is it Romeo Dobbs?
And I was like, por those? Why not both? Here's saying.
We sat and we griped about the Matthew Golden draft pick, right,
(34:33):
and look, I guess it works out for Jordan Love
because he just has another guy to throw to, But
it does not work out for Watson or Dobbs, who
were sort of on the fringes to begin with, and
now they've got a battle even more for targets in
this offense. You know, Dobbs has been underwhelming. I think
(34:54):
through his entire career, Watson has just been so inconsistent,
so hit or miss, that it's just, you know, at
least for fantasy, it's really impossible to try and count
on him on a regular basis. And now he's at
the point where, like, I'm not even sure that he's
better in best ball, Like he just kind of is
sort of thing. So yeah, adding Matthew Golden to that
(35:14):
group does not help either one of those wide receivers,
So yeah, you could throw Jayden Reid in there as well. Yeah,
although I still feel like, I mean, I don't think
Jaden Reid is what we wanted him to be, But
it also still seems like he's the guy that they're
actually actively working to get the ball to.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
Yeah, he's the one with the design plays. But then
I'm like, all right, so how does this work with
Matthew Golden If he's going to be a deep thread
intermediate threat and can also be a line of scrimmage
threat as well, So it's like he could do everything
almost better than Jayden Reid in a sense, he doesn't
really need to be designed, you know, Like I don't know,
I mean, the regression this season was crazy, Like I
(35:53):
was all in on Jayden reed to be like a
huge wide receiver three flex, but there were times where
he went on like four or five games weeks of
just not being even like startuble.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
So it was just I'm kind of out now.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
So it's like you adding another wide receiver in that room,
a high profile guy, like a guy that's going to
be able to contribute immediately. I don't see Jaden red
even being like usable at you know, mostly.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
There is a usable packer wide receiver, Like I don't
think so as of right now, I'm not sure, but
I was gonna say, I think this save on Williams
picking the third round gets overlooked because he's like a
receiver that you generate touches for.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
And I'm like, you already have a guy like that
and Jayden Reid, so like I agree with the comment
mister Scamper's winner, Jordan Love loser every other because I
don't think I want.
Speaker 3 (36:41):
To talk about I mean, is he gonna get more
involved because he's a yak guy, so I would think
like he would have to be like somewhat in the
game plane.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
Yeah, I mean I.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Don't think I'm drafting any package.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
Yeah, I mean, like sure every time you every time
you get excited about Tucker Kraft, then like here comes
Luke Musgrave showing up too, right, so like make your
life miserable again. Like what I do think is funny.
I think it's funny that during the Aaron Rodgers era,
they spend a lot of time in a lot of
draft capital on offensive linemen and they never drafted wide receivers.
(37:16):
Now with Jordan Love, they're getting all these wide receivers
that are not getting any.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
O line help, like they can't stop.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
It's okay to balance things out, packers, Like you don't
have to do all of one thing. It's like it's
like watching my kid eat all of one thing on
his plate before moving to the next. It's like, no, man,
you can take bites of like different things all at
the same time. Like it's fine. Yeah, I used to do.
He'll eat all all of the apples, and then he'll
eat all of the sandwich, and then he'll eat all
(37:42):
of the Cheetos. Like I'm like, you can you can
take a bite of each bite each man, Like it's fine,
It's okay, yeah for you. A couple other things, uh
some some chatter in the chat about uh some of
the the winners and losers, Matt Carmody saying Tracy could
(38:03):
be a loser with the scatman in New York and
uh scot Man, Yeah, Fantasy's Finest, also agreeing with that
that the Scataboo could make life hard for Tyrone Tracy,
which yeah, I mean I could definitely see that. It's
just frustrats. I don't know that either one. I don't
(38:23):
know that either one. Of them is good enough alone
to be sharing, Like I think, for them to be relevant,
one of them has to take the lead. But you
might be right that they probably are gonna split opportunities
and it's gonna be really frustrating. I think for all
of us.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
If Scott hits the ground running early and like the
media jumps on it and then the fans jump on it,
and he.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
Does seem like a guy who could like be a
fan favorite in New York.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
He's already.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
I mean, look Kyle Brandt on Good Morning Football every
single day. Scataboo, scataboo, scat for every topic. His name
was in everything that.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
It's also fun. It's also just fun to say scataboocatboo, scataboo,
like it sounds like something Adam Sander would say, like
it was just.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
Like it really does. I hope they get him to
say it, geta boo.
Speaker 1 (39:12):
He can say it in his Adam Sanders voice for sure.
All Right, we should talk about this this the film festival.
We need to come up with a we should go
with a category. I know you said havoc is one
you you suspected, So I'm I'm thinking maybe we just
do Netflix Action movies.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Yes, I like that because.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
Like none of them are like, none of them are
super great and some of them could border on terrible.
Like it just seems like a really interesting mix, like
and like the way, you know, the way Netflix works,
once you watch one of them, it's just gonna start
feeding you all of them in the algorithm. So yeah,
so maybe we just do Netflix action movies. Gavin suggesting Extraction.
I think I started Extraction and is that Uh, yes,
(39:59):
I believe that is uh that is one of the
hymns Worth Kids, And I think they actually made a
second one. I think there's a sequel. Oh apparently, as
I do a quick google, there's three of them.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
So I've never heard of anything.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
I think I started like it was like I had
it on on a Saturday afternoon and I wasn't fully
paying attention. I'm not sure if I finished it, but.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
Yeah, apparently.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
There's a third one, and I don't think it has
been released yet. It's supposed to come out late twenty
twenty five, but there are two of them currently on Netflix.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
You guys are so much braver than me, are just
picking random movies watch like I had.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
We watched R R r and that was a long
dope if it doesn't get recommended me, I'm not that
one was dope.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
You know, like if I just see a random movie
and if I've never heard of it, I'm like, all right, movie.
Speaker 1 (40:46):
I'm not sure how I landed on Extraction other than
I think I saw a bunch of billboards for it
or something like that. I was like, you give it
a shot. So uh, but you haven't saying the extraction
films are good, So all right, I'm down. Hey, all right,
I guess we'll start. We'll start with Havoc because that's
the one that Lakwan suggested. So next Thursday we can
talk Havoc on this show.
Speaker 3 (41:06):
If anybody's seeing that, you know, the chaos that we're
talking about, Like there was like at least nine thousand
rounds of AMMO used in that movie, and then there
was like twenty three thousand bodies, Like it's just like,
what the heck is going on?
Speaker 1 (41:21):
Does anybody punch a tiger?
Speaker 2 (41:24):
Ooh?
Speaker 4 (41:25):
Are now?
Speaker 1 (41:25):
Are somebody punched the tiger or or the horse?
Speaker 2 (41:30):
On the brands for this time next year where we're like,
all right, we're starting off the film festival with Netflix's
very owned one hundred man versus one gorilla. Yes, like
that's what it's gonna be. So we're gonna do game
shows as a theme.
Speaker 1 (41:43):
I love that they're gonna make.
Speaker 2 (41:45):
It an action movie somehow somewhat. But would you do
it with protective medieval gear?
Speaker 3 (41:50):
Like I saw something online where they're like, if you
do it with safety perfec, that's not fair. Go out
there and fight, it's not fair, like you're trying to
fight the No, because if you're because if you're bringing
one hundred ninety nine other guys with you, then you know, like, no,
then you don't.
Speaker 1 (42:06):
Get to have gear Like that's unfair. No, because at
the old point, one hundred are supposed to beat a
gorilla and you don't gets to have weapons. That's no fair.
Armor at least armor, and then you and your ninety
nine friends to go and take out King Kong or whatever. No.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
Stop, I mean we're talking to a man who thinks
he could be a king, could beat up a king.
Speaker 3 (42:34):
Yeah, I think I have the lateral speed and the
surprise at all.
Speaker 2 (42:39):
Right, we need to get a kangaroo expert on and
have him break this down. Yeah, look, I'm not the
only one who think they could beat a kangaroo.
Speaker 3 (42:48):
Tyler Booker, the offensive lineman for the Cowboys, he thinks,
so people think that didn't make him true.
Speaker 2 (42:54):
Okay, but Tyler Booker is six foot five and probably
three hundred and something pounds. I'm not saying he can win,
but he's got at least a reason to think he.
Speaker 1 (43:09):
Could for sure. Man. By the way, before we leave.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
I would pay money to see you try.
Speaker 3 (43:18):
With protective gear because I've seen the nails that that's
the scariest, most frightening thing on a kangaroo. I ain't
worried about.
Speaker 1 (43:25):
Anything, right until he raises up on that tail and
puts his feet through your chest.
Speaker 2 (43:33):
Yeah, with those back legs.
Speaker 1 (43:35):
All right, this has really gone off the rails here
at the end. My last thing, the last thing I'm
gonna say before we get out of here is Gareth Evans,
who I believe directed, at least produced Havoc, also is
the writer of The Raid Redemption.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
So that was going to be the surprise. I didn't
want to actually think.
Speaker 1 (43:55):
He was the director of the raid. So all right,
so I'm in. I'm in because the Raid redemptions that
how we got recommended for you.
Speaker 3 (44:01):
No, I random fredit Friday night and I was like,
I keep seeing this on the timeline, so I'm gonna
watch it. Like it was actually off a Blue Sky
and I watched it. I'm like, I can see why.
This is like a nostalgic nineties action. We like all
the elements, like I'm talking slow motion shooting and then
the overkills and then the crazy.
Speaker 1 (44:19):
We get John wo doves flying somewhere.
Speaker 3 (44:24):
It's it's ashes, fire and bullets casings that if that
that will.
Speaker 1 (44:29):
Be that cool?
Speaker 2 (44:30):
Before we go Michael Quinzel and the Chad Axe, name
a player that resembles all of these Netflix.
Speaker 1 (44:35):
Okay, so that'll be the thing. We'll watch the movie.
We'll watch the movie, and then we'll come up with
a player that fits the movie that we could see
in one of these gas like that. I like that.
Who's a player that's like, oh yeah, no, he could
have been in this movie or whatever. So that'll be
the thing. All right, cool? I like it.
Speaker 2 (44:53):
I like it again.
Speaker 1 (44:55):
I got my thanks everybody for checking us out hanging
out with us here on the cheats. You will be
back with you of course next Thursday. Rgulary the regular
Pod on Tuesday as well. I don't know, we're gonna
talk about maybe the Knicks, who knows. We'll figure. One
last look at Ai Florida celebrating the next win, the
next going up to to oh Over the Celtics. Uh.
(45:18):
In the meantime, enjoy the weekend, everybody. We will talk
to you again here next week.
