Speaker 1 (00:11):
Today, it's a Fantasy Live edition of the Fantasy Football Podcast.
I'm Patrick Clayban. I'll be joined by Adam Rank and
Cynthia Freeland and Falcons running back b Jon Robinson, a
top fantasy pick, joins the show. Plus, we'll discuss the
second year breakout candidates and we'll tell you which players
will outperform their ADP. Every Right, Welcome to the NFL

(00:32):
Fantasy Live presented by best by Patrick Claibon. Here with
Adam Rank and Cynthia Freeland. A Happy birthday to the Rams.
Kyraen Williams. Big birthday weekend over the rank for a
lot of reasons, but really a big one on this show.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Yeah, only Kyron Williams, and that's it. Nobody else shares
a birthday with Kien Williams.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Every birthday, Syphia, I hope.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
You'd forget and then I wouldn't have to get any
so yeah, it works out.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Cynthia Freeland's twenty third birthday, Happy birthday to Cynthia Freeland
as a president. Falcons running back John Robinson is going
to join us on the show, so I here, it's
going to be here in studio.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
Right.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
We're still efforting that okay, much like we were efforting
our college apparel where ranks rocking the cal State for
Leutenant Jersey. I got my Troy sweatster in the Boston
College Eagles being represented by Cynthia free Lovett. You guys
can represent yourself. You go to NFL dot com, slash
fantasy and sign up for a league because we want
you to play fantasy football. We're going to help you
get ready for your draft, especially if it's a late draft.

(01:35):
Because we're looking at the ADP rankings, Jamar Chase at
number one, John Robinson there at number two. Again, John's
gonna spend some time with us year on the show. Saquan, Jamiir,
Justin Jefferson, and Ceedee Lamb rounding out that top group.
So let's get some first round debates, because only one
player can be good. Cynthia Freeland, I mean, you gotta
take it. You gotta make a choice. You gotta choose

(01:56):
between Saquon Barkley and Jamiir Gibbs.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Well, I'm going on with Saquon Barkley on this one
for a number of reasons.

Speaker 5 (02:02):
The first is because I actually.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Think that the Eagles to be playing with the lead
quite often which I know he goes on first down
and second down and third down and sometimes fourth down,
But ultimately I think that this is a very good
opportunity for him to not maybe not quite the same
total number as last season, But it's all about those
deep gashes, ten plus yard runs, all those different things.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
That is what matters to me.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
You know what, if I had to make the choice,
I would go at Jamiir Gibbs. He's actually my number
two running back on the board right now. Despite the
defections of Ben Johnson and Tanner Engstrom and all those
guys from the coaching staff that are now on the
various staffs of the Bears and the Jets, the talent
of Jamiir Gibbs still remains. And I think that to
anybody who's taking over this role in Detroit is going

(02:48):
to be like, I'm going to get the ball to
number five and number twenty six. This is the best
way to attack defenses this season. Last year, Jamiir Gibbs
had close to twenty seven percent of the team's scrimmage yards.
That was the fifth highest in the NFL thirty one
scrimmage touchdowns over the last two seasons. That is tied
for the most in the league over that time. I

(03:10):
don't see that going I don't see that decreasing. I
think that he's going to be just as good, if
not better. So I'm gonna go out. I would take
two mere gifts.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Yeah, just an electrifying player who makes so many plays.
Tough to make a wrong choice in some of these circumstances.
They'll try to get rank to make one here because
a couple of good wide receivers. Two options, Justin Jefferson
or CD Lamb. Which one are you doing?

Speaker 2 (03:29):
You know what? I have been in that three hole
in so many drafts. It's been amazing, And every single
time I haven't veered course, I haven't been like, oh
I have too many shares of this guy. Nope. I
go all in on Justin Jefferson every single time. I
have confidence on all the receivers off the board. If
I ever had the number one pick, I would go
at Jamar Chase. But when presented with the opportunity to

(03:52):
go with Justin Jefferson, I'm all in eight games with
at least twenty Fantasy points in twenty twenty four. That
was the second most amongst wide receivers. Averaging just about
ninety seven receiving yards per game. His ADP right now
is the fourth is the fourth overall pick. I think
a lot of that has to do with Chase going first,
the two running backs going ahead of him. But honestly,

(04:13):
I love taking Justin Jefferson, and this might even be
even more insanity to this. I am happy to stack
him with JJ McCarthy. I might, I might draft another quarterback,
but I will make sure that if I have Justin Jefferson,
I will for sure have JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
I'm gonna let you take the JJ McCarthy swing. I'm
just gonna keep it with a known and to see,
and that's Dak Prescott throwing to Ceedee Lamb. Ceedee Lamb's
opportunity just gets so much better with George Pickens there.
I also am very unclear about their run games.

Speaker 5 (04:44):
Seems a little maybe a little non existent.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
So perhaps the guy who's really good at YAK, the
guy who they count on for seventeen plus Fantasy points
per game in each of the last three seasons. By
the way, the only other guy to do that is
Justin Jefferson. I'm just gonna go with the guy who
has a quarterback that I know is a proven entity
in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
All right.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Again, tough to make a wrong choice between those. But
the reason we do this exercise is because generally, if
one of these players is available, you have to you
have to make that choice. Yeah, the other ones.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
I don't like when these people you listen to them
and they'll be like, oh, even one of them's great,
like yeah, try doing that at your draft. Then just
be like that even one's great, like, okay, I'll pick
for you. Is that what you want me to do?
So you got to make the tough choice. Yeah, and
then somebody I Cynthy and I are here. Someone's trying
to fight you, yeah, to get a picks. All right,
So it's into the first round. Ring Drake London, Milik Neighbors,
and Nico Collins are all available for you.

Speaker 5 (05:34):
I'm good with all of them.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
What do you mean now I'm gonna go with I'm
gonna go with Milik Neighbors. I love the clear upside
of Milik Neighbors definitively. He is my number four wide
receiver on my board right now. Ask me tomorrow it
might be Brian Thomas Junior, But now Milik Neighbors. I
think he's absolutely fantastic, and we saw last season it
truly doesn't matter who the quarterback is going to be.

(05:57):
He was the wide receiver six in total points last season.
He had one hundred and seventy targets. That's the second
most in the NFL, most by a rookie since nineteen
ninety two. And I say, regardless of who the quarterback is,
and I need it to be Jackson Dart selfishly for
a super flex league that I have, I don't think
it really matters. And I think he can feel very

(06:19):
confident going with the leak Neighbors. And honestly, I've seen
him because people will hit us up on cameo and
they'll be like, hey, great our draft boards. I've seen
him go as high as second in some leagues, and
I'm like, you know what, I salute that person because
that's a great choice.

Speaker 5 (06:33):
I'm good with all of them. Wait, I'm just keeping.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
But I'm looking at Drake London in part because when
you're making these fine tune decisions, I'm going to go
with the one who's defense I feel the least confident
in as it they'll be throwing the ball late in games.

Speaker 5 (06:47):
This is the harder schedule.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
I know that that front for the Giants is really good,
and I know that the Houston Texans have a really
really good defense. So I'm looking at Drake London and
his opportunity to do at least what he did last year,
if not more. Fine, find me a guy sixty percent
of his team's end zone targets and the next closest
player yeah, forty six point two. So find me a
guy even over fifty percent.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
I'll keep waiting.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
But I don't think that changes in a full season
of Michael Pennix makes me feel better. And like I said,
I'm just picking the one with the defense that I
think is the most questionable.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Yeah, I do like all of them. I loved everything
other than that towning flag on Drake London in that
highlight pagage. I hated that It's not fun at all
to me. Nico Collins would be the choice for me.
He was targeted almost thirty percent of the routes that
he ran last year on offense, and I believe will
be better in Houston, and last year he had five
touchdowns inside the opponent's ten yard line. They have high

(07:39):
usage for him in there once they get more goal
on opportunities, much like they had in the preseason on
a fourth and five, I think some of those opportunities
will go to Nico Collins. Again, the ranks point, you
do have to make choices how to make the call.
You have to even when all of the players are good.
But we would like to get the value from these
high picks, and the best way to get value was
to kind of project breakouts for some guys in the

(08:01):
fantasy football season. So let's look ahead and see which
particular player is a second year breakout candidate. Cynthia, who's yours.

Speaker 5 (08:10):
Well, We've been.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Talking about it over and over again, but I think
I'm gonna stick with Marvin Harrison Junior here. In many ways,
I'm very curious to see what a full year of
Kyler Murray means. Remember, it's so funny. We kind of think, like,
what's the Cardinals season ceiling? And they could very easily
wind up in the playoffs. They were like one game
out last season, And so when you're looking at the

(08:32):
opportunity for Harrison the other guys on the team, just
a lot of volume is forecast to go to him.
So it's interesting and My second guy is Drake May.
I love this pick. I think the Pats will end
up second in their division. I think the Pats could
very easily be a wild card. I have a lot
of hopes for Drake May. I think this is going
to be a really fun fantasy pick for you. I'm

(08:54):
going to try to get him as a second quarterback
everywhere that it makes sense for me.

Speaker 5 (08:58):
I think this is going to.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
Be the season where, especially now Will Campbell in his
short arms.

Speaker 5 (09:02):
Just kidding, I don't care about that, don't you, Dare.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
One of the players I love to make a second
year breakout is Ricky Piersoll. When you look at the
situation in San Francisco right now, they're close to one
hundred and thirty vacated targets from the twenty twenty four season,
and when you look at it, and I know this
is a small sample size, but when you look at
the end of last year, he led the team in
red zone targets from weeks fourteen through eighteen. He averaged

(09:28):
close to twenty two Fantasy points per game in those
contests where he had at least six plus targets. So
I look at this situation with them and I'm like,
it's got to be Ricky Piersall, and you think of
what he overcame last season to be able to perform
in such a way. I've seen him just flying up
draft boards and going out there and do it. My
second guy is Roma Dunes because oh wait, I don't

(09:50):
get two apparently not talk about Bucky every minor years.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Yeah, I will go to Bucky Irving, and I know
that there may be those folks out there right that
are like, well, Bucky JRVN broke out. Yeah, but I
think it's a huge year coming. Look at last year.
He finishes in the top fifteen, but he only had
thirteen carries once through Week twelve and then he went
on an absolute there. I think he's well in that

(10:15):
RB ten range. I think he's inside of perhaps the
top seven in terms of running backs, which definitely means
he outperformed his ADP for sure last year. I think
he did it this year. Let's go with some guys
who are going to outperform their ADP. Started with the
quarterback position, right, Well, I want.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
To circle back to what I was talking about with
JJ McCarthy a moment ago, where I'm saying, like listen,
I'm not leaving my draft without him. I want to say,
what's going on? Why is she raising her hands?

Speaker 3 (10:44):
So that's so hard on someone with an achilles and
we don't know.

Speaker 5 (10:47):
I like, be nice to him. Don't make him have
these huge expectations him. Let him develop.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
No huge expectations.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
Iet I would say, like his floor is what we've
seen out of Sam Darnold and Brock party I would
expect that of him coming into the league. Like this
is one of those things where when you get anybody
from the Mike Shanahan coaching tree, and that includes his
son Kyle Sean McVay koc, they do really well with quarterbacks.

(11:15):
Do you even see it with some of the lesser
guys like Nick Mullins and CJ.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
Bethard. Those guys will go out and perform well for
a game or two.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
But when the guys who are like truly talented, truly exceptional,
like Sam Darnold and like Brock Purty, they go out
there and play really well. So I expect I have
high expectations for JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Right right now, Tony Pollard is going as running back
number twenty six. What this is a guy who had
tena more yards on almost twelve percent of his rushing
attempts last season. That's tenth right there amongst running backs.
And he gets an upgrade and offensive offensive line, he
gets an upgrade at quarterback, like, this is a great
situation for Tony Pollard, so twenty six that is, I'll

(11:54):
be targeting him somewhere on the teens. I think this
is a much better situation. Their O line is much better.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
I got an auto packed auto picked him the other
day and didn't like it. But now you've maken me
feel a lot better. One better that I purposely have
been drafting all over the place, and Mika Buka, as
a matter of fact, I will pick him and Ricky
pearsall when we get into those middle rounds, when you're
looking at some of the wide receivers that you feel
like their ceiling has been capped, I will go for
the high upside guys. And I think the double E

(12:22):
can go to Tampa Bay and be a true difference
maker in your fantasy season. When you think about the
injuries that they have right now in Tampa Bay. Jalen
McMillan not going to be playing for a little bit.
Chris Godwin is coming off a thing, and I truly
believe that him as a wide receiver too, could end
up with t Higgins.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Like production, I feel like Tyler Warren gets maybe a
little bit overlooked. He's your tight end number ten right now.
I think he could easily perform that. We know Daniel
Jones as a starter. He is not a guy who's
going to run as often as we would have from
Anthony Richardson. So now we need a situation here where
sheen Steichen. He needs to figure out who that outlet
pass is going to be too. And if you go

(13:02):
back and watch some of the film from college, I
know it's a little bit different, but still one hundred
and four receptions. That's bananas. That's a huge number. It's
type and second most an FBS. So I'm just going
to tell you I think that he will outperform that
number ten tight end slot.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
Oh who is one of the best running backs in
the NFL. That would be John Robinson, number one on
so many draft boards because of his excellent play got
him to the Pro Bowl in twenty twenty four, and
also he's able to spend time with us here today.
John Robinson Falcons running back. Welcome to NFL Fantasy Live.
Love the mic cub segment there. I had a chance
jon to watch her micd up at the Pro Bowl.

(13:39):
It was you and Jami Gibbs talking about the rest
of the league, the rest of the running backs. And
I'm wondering now that you're in it where multi year
vet in the NFL, is your fan relationship to football
still the same even though you're one of the guys.

Speaker 6 (13:52):
Yeah, man, yeah it is. It is.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
Like you know, me, I've I've always been a fan
of just the game outside of like me playing it. Man,
just there's so many players that I've just loved to
watch and love to, you know, just talk to daily,
especially like the legends like LT and all those guys. So,
you know, for me to be one of the guys obviously,
like with fantasy football, and and I have like a

(14:15):
brother like jamiir and guys like that that are that
are so big into it as well, you know, it's
pretty cool to to to see that for fans, and
you know, obviously just grows the game so much more.
And for me being a fan and a player of
the game, like.

Speaker 6 (14:29):
I think, I think it's pretty cool, you.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
Know, I'm sitting there, I'm I'm looking at you in
that that Texas and those Texas colors. I mean no
disrespect coming up to you in this cal State Fullerton Jersey.
Back in two thousand and four, cal State Fullerton beat
the University of Texas. My guy, Augy Garrito. A lot
of love, a lot of love for Aggy. He was
a friend of mine. I know he's a Texas legend

(14:52):
as well. Speaking of Texas legends, I can't. I gotta
ask you. I'm gonna put you on the spot. I'm
so sorry.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
I gotta do this.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Earl Ricky, you rank.

Speaker 6 (15:01):
Them, Okay, I'm gonna go.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
I'm gonna go obviously like all for myself just because confidence,
but I'm gonna go be realistic. I'm gonna go Wreaky
at one and then Earl two, and then I'll go
I'll go three.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Re's Back's back.

Speaker 6 (15:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
Yeah, Well we're gon We're gonna keep it with college
and obviously Texas is a p's number one ranked college program.

Speaker 5 (15:25):
Do you think they can go a wire to wire?

Speaker 3 (15:27):
Are we going to see a national championship featuring the
Burns Orange?

Speaker 6 (15:31):
I think we are.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
I think we are like you know, obviously I'm representing
this College Colors Day this week that starts on Friday,
So like you know, with us in Texas, like it's
so big, especially because we're playing I think I think
this this week is what's gonna start us off, you know,
for the season, because obviously we have Ohio State, so
you know, if we if we take care of business

(15:52):
against them and to start it off on the right step,
like I think, I think the rest of the season's
gonna be a breeze because they're the best team in
the best even college football, and we have to go
to their house and take care of it. So if
we have that business, then I think we'll I think
we'll go all the way to the to the ship
of course.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
Uh Jehan, You know you look around that locker room.
Of course, there's a big time Florida Gator there. Your
quarterbacks are Washington Husky as well as a Hoosier. How
do you guys manage watching games on Saturday and preparing
for games on Sunday along with any you know, potential
Jersey Swamp wagers and things you might be made.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
Oh, I know, them boys are sad. Like I'm having
a great time I'm having I'm having a blast week
two week because we just out here, you know, beat
blowing people out while they're losing, you know, Mike and
and Kyle you know, their teams aren't so.

Speaker 6 (16:41):
You know, productives. But I'm in there and.

Speaker 4 (16:48):
Having a good old time, you know all my teammates,
you know. And now I got Jalen here Walker, so
he's he's another Georgia guy and he will not live
it down and telling me that they beat us last year.
So when we play them again down down to Athens,
I'm there and we when we beat them, like, it's
gonna be a fun uh fun little little rivalry. So

(17:10):
it's always fun. Man.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Yeah, you gotta love the college rivalries. And let's talk
a little bit though about the NFL. Michael Pennix Junior
is now getting an opportunity to be the full time starter,
getting a full training camp. What has that transition been
like for him? The second year guy? You guys growing
up together. What what what can we expect from the
Falcons this year?

Speaker 6 (17:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (17:31):
Man, you know, I think with us, like you know, obviously,
we have a lot of talent on this team. We
have a really explosive offense and just our defense has
been looking really well. But you know, I feel for us,
like you know, I think what got us in a buy.
You know, these past couple of years i've been here,
we've always kind of looked ahead, and we've always talked
about like, you know, we want to make the playoffs,
want to win the division, We want to you know, do.

Speaker 6 (17:51):
All these great things that obviously we're is in our goal.

Speaker 4 (17:54):
But you know, for us, like you know, taking care
of weeks a week, taking care of it one one
game at the time, and you know, every game is
important in this league, as we now know because you know,
last year we had such a run and then we
had a had a losing streak that like really hurt
hurt our chances of going to the playoffs. So for
us this year, like you know, us just you know,

(18:15):
like how Rahiem says, you know, we're moving in silence
this year. But it's a real thing because you know,
we we don't want to you know, talk about it
and then lose. You know, we want to just handle
what's in front of us, you know, handle every single
week like it's the last, like like it's a championship week,
and then you know, everything else will speak for yourself.
But you know, if we do everything they were supposed
to do, and when we do everything they're supposed to do,

(18:38):
and then everything will be taken care of.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Speaking of handling it week to week, listen, did you
even know that you were like the running back or
one dot one for fantasy? And are you going to
live up to those expectations for all of the people
who drafted you?

Speaker 6 (18:52):
Yeah, I even know that.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
I even know one dote memes, so like, you know,
I actually went to the to Public's a couple of
days ago and and like obviously everywhere I go, like
people talk about fancy football. But this this one lady
came up to me and she was I couldn't believe it.

Speaker 6 (19:13):
She was like, yo, like this is like the best
day of my life.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
You're my You're my one dot one or one dot one,
she said, and I just can't wait for you.

Speaker 6 (19:25):
To do it. And I was like, what does that
even mean?

Speaker 4 (19:26):
And she just started laughing, and I was like, yo,
I know, and then now I understand what it means.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
Sorry, next time, I won't come up to you in
the grocery store time.

Speaker 6 (19:39):
Yeah, but uh, grocery store, yeah, Groy story.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Yeah, Twitter, I know, Jean h. Those who are fans
of Outer Banks love your performance as Warwick. We hope
to see more. We know you can't revealing about plot
lines and spoilers, but thank you so much for spending
time with us here on NFL Fantasy Live and good
luck to you in the Atlanta Falcons in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 6 (20:03):
Absolutely, I appreciate you guys for having me.

Speaker 1 (20:05):
John Robinson on an NFL Fantasy Live and on a
Fantasy Live league. I'm drafted him one dot one for Brazion.
Let's look at Fustnia other guys who are probably not
going one dot one, but they're very comparable to some
other veterans. So rookie or vet, which one do you pick?
We discussed next on NFL Fantasy Live. We're back on

(20:34):
Fantasy Live on Friday, September fifth. Patrick Mahomes and the
Kansas City Chiefs take on Justin Herbert and the Los
Angeles Chargers in South follow Brazil. Don't miss the unbelievable plays,

(20:55):
for moments we Love presented by Barefoot Wine. We love celebrating,
We love celebration. A couple of rookies did so in
their final preseason game. How about Isaac Taslaw paying homage
to the days of your and doing the worm?

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Yes, I was a big Scottie too, Hotty fan as well,
I'm sure. Oh what if he did Rakishi's dance? That
would probably be not as good.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
Down in Tampa Bay, Tess Johnson gets in the end
zone and goes full Olympian. Oh my god, landing on
two legs.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
You know who would have been proud of that?

Speaker 4 (21:25):
Who?

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Mary lou Retton revolt on this August edition of NFL Fans.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
I guess Simone Biles then maybe made a little bit
more recent, but we celebrate.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
All Olympians here. Who is the other one who is
carried by her coach? That will be Chris allenrook Oh,
that's who it was. Who would ever remember that name?
Speaking of illustrious and magical work here by important people,
Cynthia Freeland has made projections for eleven specific stat categories.
NFL dot Com Go to NFL dot com slash Freeland
to see them. Let's get a couple on the show.

(22:04):
So they are starting with touchdown passes. Who's projected to
lead the league.

Speaker 5 (22:08):
Well in passes?

Speaker 3 (22:09):
Now, remember I got a lot of flak from some
Bills fans being new to just relax. It's Joe Burrow
for passing touchdowns thirty nine. Now that can easily go
over forty. I like to pair a really great, proficient
quarterback with a defense that maybe isn't quite as known.
And we did get some good news Trey Hendrickson is back.
It's going to be good upfront. However, that does not

(22:31):
solve all of their defensive woes. I think that they're
going to be in battles. They gave up twenty five
and a half points per game last season on defense,
which just means they're going to have to score even
more points on offense. And I think they're very, very
well suited.

Speaker 6 (22:43):
To do that.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
Yeah, it's one of those things that when you look
at last year's totals. I know people go out there
and they get a little apprehensive, but the situation is
exactly the same. They are going to have to score
a lot of points offensively because we do not anticipate
them stopping a lot of people defense, so this is
a huge opportunity. I have Joe Burrow as my quarterback too,

(23:04):
and I feel really good about it.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
All right, So they let's get this next statistical category
are coming for you from for receiving in twenty twenty five.
What are your projections there?

Speaker 3 (23:16):
Well, Isaac Teslat just kidding. It's of course you know
Jamar Chase, Look, maybe he has the worm too. This
is more of the gritty that I'm talking about. But
it's it's so interesting because it's hard to repeat as
a triple Crown winner and have never actually projected people
to go back to back in this category until this season.
But it makes a lot of sense for everything we're
talking about with the defense, but also when you're looking

(23:38):
at the fact that t Higgins is still there, the
fact that they've actually, you know, in the past catching
as a unit probably have at least matched, if not
exceeded last season. So I think they start off stronger
this year. They start off faster. I actually think they
start with a win. You know, if you're a Bengals fan,
you know, maybe sometimes first two games they don't always win,
but I do think they start off that way and
Jamar Chase U no time. It's just un no time,

(23:59):
over and over again, just like it was last season.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
Yeah, it's one of those things that why we saw
so much of Jamar Chase and Joe Burrow in the
preseason was for that reason, like to get off to
a stronger start last year. Not playing well in Week
one possibly cost them the playoff.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
I mean I actually did.

Speaker 2 (24:18):
But it's one of those things too, Like as bad
as everybody talks about the Bengals defense being like, oh,
there's not they still won nine games last year. They
got in because you know, the Chiefs did the finger
poke of doom and I don't I'm not saying that
they they didn't play maybe all of their starters in
that final game, and nobody was really sad to not

(24:40):
see the Bengals in the playoffs, if you know what
I'm saying. But at the same time, Cincinnati has really
put an effort in to be ready in Week one,
not to be shocked, and to go out there and
hit the ground running.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
There. We'll see what the points look like, especially with
the defense that we feel they called them to need
to score a few more of those points. Let's get
the bucket getters Cynthia, who leads the league in total touchdown.

Speaker 5 (25:02):
There we go.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
There he is Jon Robinson, and yes this was calculated
after the offensive line switches were made.

Speaker 5 (25:10):
I'm sorry for their O line. That stinks.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
It does make it more of the These are total touchdowns,
so remember that includes both catching, receiving touchdowns and running
rushing touchdowns together. So I think that they're going to
have to rely on Robinson and that yack, both types
of yak to be able to carry them and this
offense to where they hope to go, which is the playoffs,
because I think this is a year where it's a

(25:33):
little bit make or break for this organization, for this regime.
Sojeon Robinson, lots of upside for him for your fantasy team.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
I mean, I love that, I like Jean Robinson and
everything like that. But I'm gonna go back to Jamair
Gibbs and just say, you know, this is a legitimate
touchdown machine. I mentioned this earlier in the show. Thirty
one scrimmage touchdowns since twenty twenty three, that's tied for
the most in the NFL. And he's doing it in
an offense where David Montgomery was all scoring touchdowns too,

(26:01):
so he was sitting there doing it unselfishly. There is
a real opportunity that with a new offensive play caller
in Detroit and he's like, yeah, just giving it to
Jamier all the time and he gets all the touchdowns.
This is the reason why I have him as a
very close number two when I'm ranking my running back.

Speaker 6 (26:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
Those guys absolutely get in the paint on a consistent basis. Again,
if you want to see Cynthia's work and check out
all eleven stat categories, go to NFL dot com slash freelance.
You had the total touchdown leader as Jean Robinson, a
spectacular football player. The NFL is back with four days
of football, but twenty twenty five season starts on September

(26:40):
Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys taking on Jayalen Hurts and
the ragining Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Didn't get ready
for a weekend full of your favorite teams. NFL Kickoff

on NBC. Go to watch dot NFL dot com for
the full schedule. It's time for that decision that comes

(27:00):
up so often in our fantasy drafts, rookie or the VET.
We're going to put a couple of different players on
the board and see which ones right and Cynthia like
the most. We'll start with wide receivers both in Florida,
Travis Hunter versus Jalen Waddle.

Speaker 6 (27:13):
Who do you choose?

Speaker 2 (27:14):
You know, I would take the opportunity on Travis Hunter.
I just feel like the upside is there, it's exciting,
it's a little bit new. I'm not really ultimately confident
in the situation with with what's going on in Miami,
but I think with Jacksonville there's a lot of unknown
We got Brian Thomas junior there, who is great as
during his rookie season. Liam Cohen is coming in, and

(27:35):
while I don't believe that Travis Hunter is going to
be consistent week to week, because I do believe he's
a special player who will have big moments, I still
would lean to him just on the just on the
chance that he has. He really just has this tremendous
rookie season.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
Same I would take Travis Hunter as well, in large
part because I think that this isn't This is a
very the word of look for here is exciting team
from the standpoint of what we think there maybe outcomes
could be versus where they were last season. I still
think he's got a good quarterback. I think that I'm
a little confused about their O line, but we'll see
what happens. We'll see what is the secondary. I think

(28:13):
he's going to be used a lot, and he's electric.
He could easily break for a touchdown on every single drive.

Speaker 5 (28:19):
And I really trust that both he and.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Brian Thomas Junior are going to be healthy, meaning they'll
help each other out in terms of clearing out defenses,
so they have great opportunities.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
Let's go to a couple of running backs the thirty
three and thirty four range, Cam Scattabo at thirty three
or Jordan Mason at RB thirty four. You know what
this is.

Speaker 2 (28:36):
I'm actually going to lean towards the veteran right here
because I love the opportunity for Jordan Mason going to
a good situation in Minnesota. Obviously the scheme is going
to be very similar, so we have a good idea
of what Jordan Mason is going to be able to
do in this offense. We saw when he got his opportunities,
he really made the most of them. He averaged about

(28:56):
thirteen Fantasy points per game in his sixth career start.
All of those were last year in twenty twenty four,
and right now where he's going off the board, I
really do believe that he's going to end up being
the number one running back for the Minnesota Vikings. So
I've been taking him fast and furious in a lot
of places.

Speaker 5 (29:14):
Got a lot of shares of the Vikings there. I
now I've just spread the love here.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
And I'm gonna actually say I would look at Cam
scataboo why Because when I look at his opportunity, he's
got a very thick base, meaning he's got strong legs,
which means in the opportunity to kind of get yards
after contact, even in a bunch of traffic like you're
seeing right there. And I know this is preseason, so
blah blah blah, but ultimately I think he's kind of
this hammer head where if you look and watch his
college film, I don't actually know if he like he

(29:42):
doesn't care. He just like I'm going to go, who
cares if ten people try to tackle me? I still
believe I can do it, and I think they're going
to rely on him quite a bit to do that,
because I'm still a bit uncertain about this giant soul mine,
but I think Scataboo will outperform that expectation of thirty three.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
All right, let's go to a tight end in in
the division that both of you were very familiar with.
Colston Loveland is the TE one hundred and twelve or
Tucker Craft as the TE one hundred and eleven. Right,
it's gonna pick.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
The packer, Colston Lovelo. Let's be serious here for a moment.
I do have a little bit of an apprehension about drafting
Colston Loveland as your tight end one because I think
there's a lot of there's a lot of mouse to
feed in Chicago. There's Dj Moore, there's Roma Dunza, obviously
Cole Comet. But I think, ultimately, and I've said this
time and time again, I will not leave my draft

(30:28):
without Colston Loveland being on my roster because even if
I drafted Trey McBride or Brock Bowers, I still would
want Colston Loveland for the potential. There is a reason
why Ben Johnson went out and drafted him why he
felt this was the guy that he needed to put
on his roster. So for that reason alone, he needs
to be he needs to be rostered. Do not let

(30:50):
him sit on the waiver wire in Week one or
anything like that. So I'm gonna go with Colston Loveland here.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
I mean, I'm going to Tuger Craft for the exact
reason he said, you took all my points. There are
a lot more mouths to feed in Chicago, and ultimately,
I still have yet to be really clear on what's
going on with the wide receivers for the Packers. I mean,
I who's won two three, what's going to happen? But
I know Tucker Craft, he's going to be an end
zone guy. He's gonna be a guy they look to

(31:17):
when they want to score touchdowns. That's what he was before.
I'm a fantasy player. I like six points. It's typically
more than one point, you know, always, So ultimately, I'm
looking at Kraft because I just I just feel like,
let's go with something where we know exactly what's going
to happen with the quarterback and the receiver, as to
something where.

Speaker 5 (31:34):
There's you know, DJ Moore, There's just so many other options.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
Yeah, so many times the nome commodity takes precedents there.
Speaking of known commodities, they're not the one hundred and
eleventh and twelfth drag tight ends, just eleven and twelve.
We got it.

Speaker 5 (31:46):
If I'm messing with us, Yeah, if.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
You wanted to get players in the one hundred at
certain positions. Sometimes it's guys who were hurt in the
previous season. We're not a fantasy Live with NFL Plus

There are folks who have a concept, as we get
to upgrade your Game Day presented by best Buy, that
they need to draft a player that backs up another
player they draft, which we call handcuffing here in the
fantasy football community. Some folks believe in it heavily, some

(32:31):
folks do not. Adam Rink, how do you feel about
handcuffs and which one would you talk.

Speaker 2 (32:35):
I do and I don't. I would rather go for
a guy that I believe is going to eventually be
the starter. It was a very similar situation last season
with Bucky Irving. There was a rookie I'm like, I
think this is the guy. They're like, well, what about
Rashad White or what about I'm like, it doesn't matter.
Bucky Irving is the better player. And I think there's
a similar situation in Dallas right now with Jaydon Blue.
When I look at him, when I watched him at Texas,

(32:57):
you know, and Texas has churned out all these great
running backs over the last couple of years. I really
thought he was going to be special when he came
to the NFL level. I thought when the Cowboys drafted him,
I'm like, perfect situation. Again. I know, Javonte Williams is there,
but we've seen Devonte Williams, We've seen his ceiling. I
truly believe that Blue has a much higher ceiling, and

(33:17):
at some point this year he is going to emerge
as more than a handcuff. He is going to be
the number one running back for the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (33:26):
Well, sometimes you just have to listen to teams when
they tell you things. And I got a chance to
go to training camp at the Cardinals and they told
me we really like Trey Benson. And you got to
know which teams are lying, liars who lie, and which
teams aren't. And I don't think that the Cardinals are
such a team.

Speaker 5 (33:40):
Now.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
I understand that you got James Connor. He's there, we
get it, totally understand. But they like Trey Benson a lot.
I think if you watched to see how he runs,
it's the types of stuff that they want to do.
They could even use him at the same time. I
don't even know if this is even like a traditional handcuff.
I think this could be something where you actually get
additional value from him as well.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
So they let's say there's a team in that division
that might not be willing to share information as readily,
but we look at what they do instead, and they
traded for Brian Robinson Junior did the San Francisco forty
nine ers, And I like right, don't necessarily agree with
the concept all the time of a handcuff. I look
for players in backfields who do different things, and there

(34:20):
are very few people on planet Earth who do what
Christian McCaffrey does, They're going to ask Brian Robinson Jr.
To perform a different role, and so not only does
he get those opportunities if CMC goes down, but I
think he has a role regardless on the San Francisco
forty nine Ers team. Otherwise they wouldn't trade it for the.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
One thing I'm finding in drafts, though, I think that
I've said this recently when this trade went down, it's like, well,
now you know who the clear handcuff is. You got
to have Brian Robinson if you have CMC. I have
not seen or heard of one person who's been able
to get CMC and Brian Robinson, including our own Tom Pelasaro,
who was in a draft this weekend and I'm like, listen,
make sure make sure you get Brian Robinson. He text

(34:58):
me later he's like, Nope, somebody got him in front
of me.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
Well, Sarah when here too, just sayings.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Eagles all over, Uh, Cynthia. Let's let's look over at
another concept that people go with injury stashes. Who are
you looking at who may have fallen down the ADP
ranks a little bit because they got dinged up last year.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
Let's start with one of Baker Mayfield's favorite targets when
he's back, Stash Chris Godwin. Why because you know that
he's very good and when he gets back, they're going
to target him. This is a guy who you know, look,
you're you're there's a season ending anglotry, we get it.
But he is your wide receiver to tracking before that.
So I think it's going to be a very nice
thing when he comes back. It could be confusing for

(35:39):
your other pass catchers, but who cares stash Chris Godwin?

Speaker 5 (35:43):
And then we're.

Speaker 3 (35:44):
Going to the fibbing fibbing team. Who fibbs Brandon Ayuk?
Now I don't know a lot about this past catching
situation there because when I watched them live, I got
a chance to see them against the Broncos in preseason,
it seemed like they were you know it was. It
was a little confusing Ricky Pierson and then who's going
to be healthy, Who's gonna be able to play? But
I do know that when Brandon Nyuk is available, he
is a guy who is one of their favorite targets.

(36:06):
Big body, contested catch monster, and he catches those balls.

Speaker 5 (36:10):
On the perimeters.

Speaker 3 (36:11):
So I think it's worth the stash now, don't do
it too high, but stash him for later.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
Yeah, I understand that, I go, but I feel like
sometimes that's too much whisk casting. Because speaking of Brandon Ayuk,
I was talking about it earlier in the show how
much I love Ricky Pearsall. I think that over the
next couple of weeks, as Ricky Pearsall gets an opportunity
to establish himself as the number one wide receiver, I
think that it's just going to be that that's stude.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
Brock Purdy is going to go to So Brandon.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
Ayuk's going to come back, He's going to have to
go through training, He's going to have to go and
try to get up to speed. But I think with
Rickey Pearsl already going out there and establishing himself, I
would rather go out there and have a guy like
that same thing in Houston, where Joe Mixon is going
through some injury concerns and what hey, Mark says, an
opportunity to go out there and establish himself as the
number one running back. I would rather take the chances

(37:00):
on those guys as opposed to hoping that those guys
come back.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
Yeah, I look at it. Really, it's a conceptual thing
to determine how you feel about whether it's an injury
stash or you're just picking a player because they have
that upside. I'm watching, as Rang mentioned, Joe Mixon, Joe
Mixon fall down these boards. We had Demko Ryan's step
to the podium last week, and we thought he was
going to give us an update. There was no update,
and we're seeing Nick Jump have this resurgence and it's

(37:24):
causing this crater. And for Joe Mixon's ADP where it's
RB twenty seven right now, it could be even lower
than that coming up tomorrow or if you're drafting later
this weekend. And so I think it's just an opportunity,
not necessarily for a stash, but to take advantage of
the circumstances of where players are being drafted.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
Right.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
Yeah, I don't think the ADP is caught up to
that because I keep seeing Joe Mixon fall tremendously.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
Yeah, and there's guys where you won't necessarily have an
opportunity to stash them, you won't have a chance to
even pick them because they're going very very early, like
Jamiir Gibbs. But how early is too early for some
of the best players in fantasy football?

Speaker 6 (38:04):
Did you reach?

Speaker 1 (38:05):
Will teach you how to feel about your reaches? Coming
up next on NFL Fantasy Live. Back here on NFL
and Fantasy Live, it is time for you reach. I
teach because you guys have set in some pretty interesting

(38:28):
scenarios in your fantasy draft, and we're going to tell
you whether or not it's a little bit of a reach,
and how you should feel about the fact that maybe
some of you are acknowledging that you reach. So the
first one goes up to Adam Rank to review. Got
brock Boers in the first with a tenth pick. How
do you feel?

Speaker 2 (38:45):
I feel that's not bad.

Speaker 1 (38:47):
You can do that.

Speaker 2 (38:48):
I think everybody goes back to that season that Travis
Kelsey had a number of years ago. That was so
preposterous and that was a once in a lifetime type
of season. But if there is every situation where that
could be duplicated, it would be with brock Bauers in
Las Vegas.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
So I don't hate it all right, Thanks Zay for
the question. Next one for you, Cynthia Friedland coming from
Long Lived Bratzo want to draft Gibbs so bad at
one dot one but can't convince himself to pass on Chase.
What do you think I.

Speaker 6 (39:19):
Like them both?

Speaker 3 (39:20):
I mean, I really do now, but honestly, I really do.
I get it that Jamar Chase is the number one,
not one, like we get it. But if you want Gibbs,
it's not like you're sacrificing a huge drop off. It's
maybe a couple of points over the course of the season.
So I think you're okay on either one.

Speaker 5 (39:39):
Truly.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
It's just do you want to have to pick a
ride receiver later or a running back later?

Speaker 5 (39:43):
So that's the choice you have to make.

Speaker 1 (39:45):
Yeah, and ultimately it's a reach of two picks.

Speaker 2 (39:48):
At the word, you'll hate yourself. You'll hate yourself if
Jamar Chase is the one point zero one by a
large margin and you didn't do it.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
That's true, Jordan says, Lamar he has the fifth pick,
and when we're taking Lamar are in the second round,
Jordan that that's I love. Look, I love Lamar Jackson.
That feels like a considerable reach. Now, maybe this is
a league where the points are a certain way and
you don't want to have be in a situation where
you have a quarterback that you don't like and you're

(40:16):
watching them every single week. But yeah, I feel like
we can get Lamar after that. Maybe risk it and
hold on and try to get him in the third
at the very least. Rankless ones for you from Adam Rose, Sharmonay,
Zach Charbonay. Making sure they're taking him every league. He's
gonna take over by week four, Zach Scharbonay a reach.

Speaker 2 (40:34):
No, By the way, I still have my Adam Rose
T shirt from the WWE. I was a big fan
of yours. Once they change your theme music when you
left NXT, I thought was the worst thing, and they
your character was great. I think Russell Brand actually killed
it because anyways, No, not a reach on Zach Sharvionay.

Speaker 1 (40:52):
I agree with you.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
I think sharbon A is gonna have a monster year.
Make sure he's on your roster.

Speaker 1 (40:57):
All right. The actual Adam Rose just got to be him, right.
This is Brandon Farrow Cynthia for you. There was a
guy who drafted DK tenth overall in a in a
buy in league that was he was flabbergasted. Did the
DK drafter reach for DK?

Speaker 3 (41:12):
Well, I think that's a reach, but good for him
because he was the one who did it right unless
he's the guy and he's telling us a story.

Speaker 5 (41:18):
But I don't know, let him all let him was
that person?

Speaker 1 (41:22):
There was a guy I know, a guy who drafted
DK tenth overall. Uh, this is the big ounce which
all ounces of the same size this year. It's Romeo
o doonzay And like so many things, it depends on
where you draft him. But I don't think Romo Dunze
is a reach. I think Romo Dunda is gonna have
a solid year, a solid and productive year as well.

(41:44):
And one more thing. On the show, look what you
made us?

Speaker 4 (41:48):
Do you?

Speaker 1 (41:48):
Two Travis have become engaged, leading to a lot of
contrived discussions about how this is going to impact his
fantasy numbers.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
Out of the producers were in a hey, can we
talk about what this is?

Speaker 1 (42:00):
Fantasy production?

Speaker 3 (42:01):
They're plan it, they're gonna hire someone and you can
you can plan a bang up wedding, I can tell you,
and the Mendo usually do much of the planning, and
you can plan a pretty bang up wedding in ten weeks.

Speaker 5 (42:11):
So just so we're clear, it'll be fine. It's not
gonna affect him at all.

Speaker 2 (42:15):
There were it's not going to be as good, though,
I can guarantee.

Speaker 1 (42:18):
You notifiable data regarding an engagement Fantasy Live. So we're
gonna have the top sixteen quarterbacks a discussion.

Speaker 2 (42:27):
Now you goes down now because he's engaged one more
ring for Travis Kelson.

Speaker 1 (42:32):
He's not gonna try it extra hard anymore. More hard
hitting news coming up all the network insiders. His next
