Speaker 1 (00:00):
Today, it's a Fantasy Live edition of the Fantasy Football Podcast.
I'm Patrick Claybon. I'll be joined by Adam Rank and
Marcus Grant. As Week one kicks off on Thursday, we'll
tell you which quarterback, running back, and wide receiver we'll
be ranked this time next week at number one, plus
which players do we think we'll get off to the
fastest starts this season?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (00:35):
What's up every running off in the NFL Fantasy I'm
Patrick Clavon here kicking it on a Tuesday with Adam
Rank and Marcus Grant, who are both still not done
drafting fantasy team this week ones on the way.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
I got two more tonight, and I'm sure that there's
gonna be one that presents itself at some point over
the next couple of days.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Now I'm done.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
I did have a surprise one pop up on Saturday evening, like,
oh no, hey, there's a draft.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
That is why I kind of jump in and scramble.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
But I'm okay, Yeah, I always love the surprise fantasy
football drafts. It's definitely not because we're in so many
leagues that we forgot.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
People just literally.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Spring them upon us, and we're gonna spring some fantasy
notes and nuggets upon you as we get two.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
The first chance for me to say this twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
The ones, the ones.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Let's project the players that will be top at their
position in Week one?

Speaker 5 (01:20):
Who's your quarterback? Right?

Speaker 3 (01:21):
I'm gonna go with Jalen Hurts just so on Friday
I can sit here and be pretty confident I have
a fifty to fifty chance of at least being correct.
After the first game on Thursday, I do again. This
is one of the things that we go through with
Jalen Hurts every season is that people just continue to
disrespect him. I was guilty of this for a while,
where you just feel like you can't run for fifteen

(01:41):
touchdowns every season? Can he know? He absolutely can? Probably
absolutely will. I think this is one of the areas
where Kenny Clark will make a huge difference for the
Dallas Cowboys. But in Week one, with the Philadelphia Eagles
unveiling their banner against the dreaded Dallas Cowboys, I just
believe that Jalen Hurts is gonna have a monster game.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
Oh, Jalen Hurts can have a monster game. If there's
another guy though, that can run for fifteen touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
He's probably Josh.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
Allen because he's been Buffalo's goal line back since the
day he was drafted last year. Four overall QB one
finishes ten weeks as a top seven fantasy quarterback last year.
And I look at this game, I expected to be
a high scoring I expect both teams.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
To go back and forth.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
But while the Ravens can win without Lamar Jackson playing
at his peak, I don't know that the Bills can
win without Josh Allen being at his absolute best. So
I think he comes out firing in Week one and
I think he's your QB one.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Yeah, two really good quarterback options in that game. Only
probably one gonna be playing in the Saints Cardinals game,
and that's Kyler Murray.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
And as I.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Looked for a chance to confirm my priors on this,
I wanted to see his historical success against Brandon Staley.
It wasn't very good, but you will note that Brandon
Staley on that Rams defense had one of the best
players of all time, and he's not walking through the
super dorm door, and there's a lot of New Orleans
Saints that are not walking through as well. I think
Kyler gets in on the ground and has a decent

(03:03):
day through the air. And this isn't just like the
old Kingsbury cliff projecting the Cardinals to eventually fall off.
Kyler is a better quarterback at the start of the season.
So those are ones at QB.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Let's go to the running back position, right, I'm going
to go with Bucky Irving and this one last season
one of the dynamic rookies that we are on board with,
will continue it into this season. And now he's going
up against the Atlanta Falcons, a team that can be
pretty generous against opposing running backs, especially for running backs
who can catch the ball out of the backfield. Last season,

(03:35):
in his last game against the Falcons, Bucky had seven
receptions in that contest against the Falcons, The Falcons a
load allowed the most receptions to running backs in twenty
twenty four. They did make some improvements on the defense.
You don't necessarily want to say that, you know, nobody
improves or anything like that, but I have a really
great feeling about Bucky Irving and really do believe that

(03:55):
he's going to have not only a breakout season, but
a breakout that happens in Week one against the Falcons.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
So while I don't think Saquon Barkley's follow up to
last year is going to be quite as.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Great, I do think he'll have some spike weeks. I
think this can be one of them.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
Regardless of what Jerry Jones is saying, I'm not sure
that Kenny Clark is the piece to solve what was
one of the worst run defenses in the league last year.
I think this Eagles offense is going to get out quickly,
and I think especially in the second half, I think
game script is going to favor Saquon Barkley and the Eagles.
I think we'll see them run a lot. Plus, as
you mentioned, Rank, they're unfrilling the banner.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
It's ring night.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
It's a whole celebration to start the season. Remember last year,
you know they have to start the season overseas. I
do think that we're gonna see Saquon get up to
a quick start this year.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Another Kenny Clark mentioned on the show today. We're talking
about more Kenny Clark because he played for the Green
Bay Packers last year and in the first game against
the Packers. Jamier Gibbs had five point nine yards per
carry in Week one of twenty twenty four, Jamir Gibbs
had seventeen Fantasy points on just fifteen touches. I think
his touches go up this year. I think Jamiir Gibbs

(05:01):
has a great season, and I think he starts that
great season here in Week one against the Green Bay
Packers in Lambeau.

Speaker 5 (05:07):
From there, we go to the wide receiver one.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
It will be Travis Hunter.

Speaker 5 (05:12):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
You know what the last time that we had a
wide receiver that was this highly anticipated in the NFL.
I think it was Randy Moss back in nineteen ninety eight,
and I remember having Randy Moss on my fantasy team.
I remember watching the Week one game I believe it
was against the Buccaneers we were at I do remember
being at the Imperial Palace watching this game, popping off

(05:33):
to a bunch of old heads being like, oh, this
Randy Moss is incredible. Everybody was dismissive. They're like, no,
that guy he played at Marshall, He's not gonna be good. Similarly,
I think that everybody is really looking forward to seeing
what Travis Hunter will do in Week one and before
we get a true chance to see what Liam Cohen
has in store. How defenses will adjust to him and
stuff like that. This is a perfect opportunity for him

(05:54):
to go out there have a Moss like performance. I
think Moss had close to one hundred yards. I know
he had two touchdowns in that game. I think Travis
Hunter comes out a blazing in this first game against
the Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
As somebody who drafted a lot of Travis Hunter, I
would love to see it. I'm gonna go a lot
more Chalky though, and give you ceedee lamb. Remember all
those things I just said a few moments ago about
Saquon Barkley and game script and the Eagles running the
football a lot, Well, sort of apply the opposite of
that to the Dallas Cowboys. We anticipate now that they're
gonna have to throw the football a lot. They were
already throwing it a lot, They're gonna have to throw

(06:28):
it even more so. I do see a scenario where
you see the Cowboys playing from behind in the second half.
It's gonna be Dak having to get.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
The ball out a lot. We know CD's already a
target monster.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
I think in Week one they especially showcase that ability
in an effort to try and stay close with the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Well, if Ceedee Lamb is chalky or Marcus, I will
take the entire bottom of the board where the chalk
remnants of lived for centuries, and take Jamar Chase being
the wide receiver one against a Browns team where he
had touchdowns in both games, and the Cleveland Browns in
twenty twenty four gave up more yards per target to
wide receivers than any other team. This coming into a

(07:04):
twenty twenty five season where they're already dealing with injuries
in the secondary. So Chase is my wide receiver one.
Why don't we give the folks a tight end right
for week one?

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Well, if that was chalky, this kendall our research. You
even know what chalk is when you went to school,
you didn't now? Okay, in any event, this is the
chalkiest of all chalk picks. They don't have chalk anymore.
I go as a professional racecord. It's all try e race.

Speaker 5 (07:28):
Cords, all that to the sidewalk chalks.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
That's okay, fair enough. I will say this, brock Bowers
is the easiest play for the tight ends this weekend.
If you look at it, he's literally he's not a
tight end. Let's be realistic. He's a slot receiver that
gets a tight end designation. And when you look at
the matchup against the New England Patriots, the slot position
was a spot where the Patriots struggled. Last year. They

(07:55):
allowed the sixth most receiving touchdowns to the slot. In
twenty twenty four, black Bowers had the third highest percentage
of routes run from the slot. It's so ridiculous, but
it is a cheat cut in fantasy football, and you
know what, you should go out and take advantage of it.
Brock Bowers will be the tight end one, although I
do have high hopes for Evan Ingram this week.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
All right, you can pick one defense the entire league
markets so you got well rank mentioned Evan Ingram.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
I'm gonna take the defense on the team that Evan
Ingram plays for. It's the Denver Broncos. I mean, here's
the thing about the Broncos defense.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
It's good. You look at them statistically.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
Last year they ranked third in scoring defense, they were
first in sacks, they were seventh in takeaways. They just
get after you in any way they can imagine. And
this week they get to face an offense that's mid
Those aren't my words, those are cam Ward's words. He
said that about them during the preseason. This is a
team that last year they were twenty seventh in scoring,
they had the most giveaways, they had the fifth most sacks. Now,

(08:49):
I do expect some improvement from the Titans. I don't
expect that improvement to take hold immediately, and they start
with a really difficult test against this Broncos defense.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
So those are our predictions for Week one's top players.
If you want to make some more predictions, you probably
helped to get news and information.

Speaker 5 (09:05):
So let's get that to you with.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
In case you missed it, because we did reveal the
top ten players of twenty twenty five as voted by
their peers, Pats of Tan, Justin Jefferson, Miles Garrett, Darrenck, Henry,
Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes at five, Jamar Josh Lamar, and
then Saquon Barkley the number one player. Congratulations to Saquon
a great season, he wins the Super Bowl, gets a

(09:30):
chance to be the top player.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
But the question is we.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Love Bijon on this show, Butjon comes On has spend
time with us on Fantasy Show, record taking Bijon over
Saquon after all he.

Speaker 5 (09:41):
Did last year.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
Well, we regret it. You know, it's very you need
to make a choice. This is one of the things
that I've been bemoaning for the entirety of the summer,
is that you eventually, at some point have to make
a decision whether you're taking Saquon or you're taking with
Jehn Robinson. And I will tell anybody who took Saquon Barkley,
don't feel bad about it. I think you should really
celebrate it. He truly is, according to his peers, and
according to those people with eyes, the best running back

(10:05):
in the NFL. And again you can look at they
go back and they look at these statistical history of like, hey,
running backs who have rushed for two thousand yards, take
a step back, or guys who are on the cover
of mad and take a step back, guys who hang
out at the Wiener Circle or whatever it is, and
whatever it is, it doesn't matter. My point is is
that Saquan is a great player. If you're sitting there

(10:27):
drafting and you're playing this game where you're afraid of injuries,
I hate to break it to you, every player who
steps on the field has a one hundred chance of injury.
Just draft great players. If you preferred Saquon Barkley over
Bejean Robinson, you should not feel bad about that at all.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
Look, I definitely made the point multiple times about the
two thousand yard thing. But in the end, I understand
why Saquon's ADP is what it was. I get he's phenomenal,
he had a great season. I totally understand that he's
in a good offense. It's the thing we wanted for
him for years when he's with the Giants. That being said,
I had the number one pick in my home league

(11:04):
draft over the weekend.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
I took Jean Robinson.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
I think there's still a lot there that he has
yet to tap into. I think the Falcons are going
to go heavy using him this year. So that was
the choice I made. But look, if somebody decided to
go the other direction, it really is hard to find
fault with that decision.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
Yeah, and like Grank said, you do have to ultimately
make a choice in the top three between one of
these guys in general, and ultimately it's what you prefer
in terms of these players, But the long term projections
looking back fifty or sixty years with two thousand. Yeah,
it doesn't have anything to do with what saque A
lot of them.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
Still finishes RB ones though, Yeah, I think like half
of them. Four of them at least finishes. RB one's
Chris Johnson, I think, was the RB eight the year
after a rush for two thousand yards. So there is
president of these guys still bouncing back. Saquon Barclays. With
a great organization, a great team, with something to play for,
I think it's going to be just fine. The most
interesting part of that list, though, Patrick Mahomes was number five,
because when we draft quarterbacks and fantasy like everybody sleeps

(12:02):
on Patrick Mahomes where all the players are sitting there
telling us Patrick Mahomes is still one of the best
in the game.

Speaker 6 (12:08):
As opposite right side one Tyron Williams lead block five
run right pylon touchdown, n Williams touch down away.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
From the shotgun. Look he left, grows right receiver.

Speaker 6 (12:24):
Screeds cost block touchdowns looking a coup touch downway and.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
I'll fantasy a lot of time for more or less
presented by draft Kings picked six the Texans and the
Rams across the street at so far, Let's discuss these
Rams Marcus.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Yeah, look at a Pookinakua.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
I'm gonna go with less than the zero point five
receiving touchdowns just because he hasn't really been.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
A touchdown monster.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
Gets a lot of catches, a lot of yards, but
averaging one touchdown every twenty nine point six targets so
far in his career. But on the other side, with
Tyrone Williams, I'm gonna go more than the sixty six
and a half rushing yards. He had had more than
that in two twenty of his twenty seven career starts.
He is absolutely a monster when it comes to opportunities.
We know Sean McVay likes to be a one running back.
Coach Kyri Williams, I think it's a lot of opportunity.

(13:09):
Plus with the Matt Stafford factor, maybe they want to
sort of limit his exposure as he's sort of dealing
and recovering from this back issue. But on the other side,
nicocollins more than seventy seven and a half.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Receiving yards, I do like the more in that one.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
He had more than ad In seven of the twelve
games he played last year. Ten different receivers had seventy
eight or more receiving yards against the Rams last year.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Plus no Joe Mixon.

Speaker 4 (13:32):
We're not sure what his situation is or when he's
going to play, but it could cause him to be
a little bit more pass heavy. I don't think the
Texans really want to have to lean on Nick Chubb
or their running backs this early, so that could mean
we see a lot more CJ. Stroud early and off
in going in the direction of Nico Collins.

Speaker 5 (14:00):
The crown is yours.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Overall.

Speaker 5 (14:05):
NFL dot Com folks are.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Running over and they finished they draft, and they're picking
up some a lot of running backs off the waiver wire.

Speaker 5 (14:12):
Nick Chubb, Jerome Ford, Braylan Allen, Oli.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
Gordon, and Christian Kirk free agents, but a lot of
folks this time next week will be available on the
waiver wire. And remember that Jim Caviezel show where he
got the newspaper before things actually happened. That's what we
want to do here as we're predicting the waiver wire
targets that everybody's going to be running to get next week.

Speaker 4 (14:34):
Who's yours, Marcus Well, when thereway ranking of guys named Woody,
there's the cowboy doll from toy Story, There's Haroldson, And
by the end of week one, we're gonna add Woody
marks to that list. Because you saw Nick Chubb there
at the top of that list of guys that people
are picking up. Yes, he's going to be the RB one,
but I think the Texans want to be very cautious
with a guy who's still getting a little bit older,

(14:55):
but more importantly, has had a couple of major knee
injuries in his career. They don't really him all that
excited about giving Damian Pierce much more opportunity. But Marx
was impressive during the preseason. The coaches raved about his
past protection skills, which means he can get on the field,
especially in third down situations, and one of the things
he did very well during his collegiate career over a
couple of different schools was catch the football. So we

(15:18):
could have a lot of upside and I think by
the end of the week a lot more people will
know the name Woody Marks. Another name that I like
this week and I think is going to be very
interesting is oh, that's not that guy.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
I thought you were going to launch into Woody Woodpecker,
and I was remiss and not saying it. However, Rashid
Shahed is somebody who I think a lot of people
were fading during draft season because you would see a
lot of individuals looking at the draft board and being like,
I'm not taking Avin Kamara, I'm not taking Chris Alave.
Rashid Shahed might have actually been the safest because he's

(15:50):
kind of a pop player. Anyways, However, as the world
is fading the New Orleans Saints this week, here comes
rank picking. Not only the Saints win this game, but
I do believe that people will be rushing out on
the waiver wire and be like, oh, maybe Rashid Shaheed
is actually good and we should get it Kellen Moore.
We'll find a way to get this guy open. I'm
really confident of that. So I think that waiver wire,

(16:12):
when we do the waiver when the waiver wire, Hot
Sauce is allowed to come back, and I'm been smirching
Arizona's Mexican food and all that stuff. We will be
talking about Rashid Shahed.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
Yeah, whenever he's on the field, he's catching deep passes.
It's been staying healthy and consistent, which has been a
lot of the issue for the Saints' wide receivers. And
there was an issue staying healthy and consistent in the
first edition of Amari Cooper as a Raider, and now
he's back, and with some questions surrounding and some uncertainty
surrounding Jacoby Myers, there's also huge name value with Amari

(16:45):
Cooper where if he gets into the end zone with
a Geno Smith pass, yeah, it's gonna get hot.

Speaker 5 (16:51):
On the waiver wire.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
So perhaps go ahead and get in there early, before
you know you give up on some waiver wire priority.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
Let's get back around. Who else are we looking at? Marcus?

Speaker 4 (17:02):
I was so excited I almost jumped the gun here
to talk about Troy Franklin because he's the guy that
has been talked up a lot by Sean Payton. And
now I usually try to take things Sean Payton says
with a grain of salt, because you know, sometimes.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
He likes to lead us astray a little bit.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
But I think we saw some flashes of Franklin last year,
plus the Broncos are really trying to figure out who
is the number three target behind Courtland Sutton and Evan Ingram.
Right now it's Franklin and Pat Bryant sort of battling
for that opportunity. I think Franklin's gonna get the first
crack at it, especially working out of the slot. So
I think this is an opportunity for bo Nicks to
find him. I think he has a couple of big plays,

(17:38):
and I think he's.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
Gonna be that guy.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
It's gonna be a nice sort of bench spot, potentially
a flex option in deeper leads for you.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
You know, I'm gonna go with Ray Ray McCloud of
the Atlanta Falcons and another opportunity for me to fade
the public. I'm going with the Falcons in this game.
And I do believe that Michael Pennix is going to
come out throwing the football. And now obviously everybody knows
about Drake London. He went in the second round third
at the latest. Kyle Pitts is a you know, a
topic a conversation in the fantasy community. But with an

(18:07):
injury to my guy, Darnell Mooney. I think that Raray
McLeod gets a real chance here. He's gonna get into
the end zone, probably with the football too, and he's
going to be setting the waiver wire ablaze because people
are gonna want to have shares of this Falcons offense.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
Yeah, the Falcons offense that was very productive against the
Bucks last season, of an offense that got better as
Michael Pennock Junior became the starter. We got more discuss
here on NFL Fantasy Live.

Speaker 5 (18:32):
Still ahead. You might have questions about some mid round.

Speaker 7 (18:35):
Receivers, but we think you're going to get an answer
right out of the gate as soon as the season
starts from a few of them are early season predictions
coming up next on NFL Fantasy Live.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
We're here, look at it. We here.

Speaker 8 (18:55):
We just show hey everything you got. It's not you,
it's not everything you need to be. No reason to
be fairful, no reason to have anxiety. He did everything
you needed to decide. God give it to you. We
live a great life. Well listen here when his money go,
when it's same goal.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
The only thing you really got is your name and
your reputation.

Speaker 8 (19:14):
Where they gonna say about your name, where they gonna
say about your reputation. Where they gonna say right join
that film, Mom, I know where they gonna stay bout me.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
We's some dog man.

Speaker 5 (19:21):
Let's get it, man, see who you say you are?

Speaker 1 (19:24):
Man went on, and the Commanders would go on and
do just that on their way to the NFC Championship.

Speaker 5 (19:31):
Game time for a next gen nugget.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Congratulations to Commanders, fans and Terry mclart, managers and Terry
on his new deal.

Speaker 5 (19:37):
Why was he worth it?

Speaker 1 (19:38):
He's averaged the fourth highest air yards per target among
top receivers last year.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
If you're worried about a slow start, don't.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
The Giants gave up almost sixty percent completions on deep
passes last season, the highest rate in the entire Next
Gen Stats.

Speaker 5 (19:52):
Era, and against Terry and Jaden.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
That's not good, as he had career highs with yards
and touchdowns on deep path last season. Get more in

to ask a coach how important is a fast start,
and the coach is gonna say things, and ultimately it's
gonna mean nothing. But in fantasy football it can mean

(20:36):
that you can sell high by low with regard to
how players start.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
So let's start with the fast starts. Who is going
to have a fast start in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
I'm gonna go with Alvin Kamara. I just talked about
this a moment ago because everybody's fading the Saints, but
I really do believe that they come out and they
take it to the Arizona Cardinals in Week one against them,
because who else are the Saints going to feature in
this game like he would last season and led all
running backs in targets and receptions and all these things.

(21:05):
He is one of the most prolific players in fantasy football.
And it's funny too, because obviously people avoided him in
drafts because of the situation with the Saints. But if
he goes out there and has a great couple of weeks,
now he's somebody that you can flip somewhere around weeks five,
week six, because again, if this Saints season goes the

(21:26):
way that we think it could and it ends poorly,
Alvin Kamara might not be It would be one of
those things like, ah, he's got a back injury. As
they continue the March for Arch or whatever it is.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
I'm throying Arch madness. I think that's the way we
should be going with this whole thing. I'm saying Mike
Evans gets off to a fast start this year, it's
less about the schedule for me and more about just
the situation around him. Right, No Chris Godwin to start
the year, No Jalen McMillan, Kate Atten. They're hopeful will play,
but he's been dealing with an injury late in training camp.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
And in the preseason.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
So it looks like it's going to be the Mike
Evans a Mecca Abuka show early on in the passing game.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Yes, Bucky every will be involved, certainly, no doubt. But
and I think this is one you just ride the wave.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
If you drafted Mike Evans, you did it with the
thought that he's probably a wide receiver one for you.
So I think this is just really reinforcing your decision
to draft him where you did. I think the upside
to this Patrick, too, is that I don't think we're
gonna have to wait until the final snap of the
regular season for Mike Evans to get over a thousand yards.

Speaker 5 (22:26):
No, they're not risking it this year.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
This is gonna be something that happens well earlier in
the season.

Speaker 5 (22:31):
And good luck to Mike. I hope he accomplishes that.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
I'll stay in Florida with Tuatungovailoa had a career high
in pass demps per game last season at thirty six
point three.

Speaker 5 (22:40):
The Finns did struggle to get things going on the ground.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
He had almost twenty four points per game against the division.
And this is purely a schedule related thing for me,
because three of the first four games are in the
division against the AFC East, and the opener is against
the new look Colts defense in Lucas Oil Stadium, where
the Finns speed might be a problem. And I think
this is actually going to be consistent. I don't think
this is something where you're gonna have to win stuo

(23:04):
we're gonna fall off. I think you can trust to
it as this season goes on. But there are some
players we think might have some slow starts to the season.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
Who are those right, Well, I'm gonna start with Caleb Johnson,
a running back that I have high helps for this season,
but I think in the first couple of weeks it's
gonna take him a little bit of time to get going.
And anytime you have a veteran presence in the backfield,
somebody like Jalen Moorean who just ended up signing a
two year extension, it might take him a little bit
of time. It'll be similar to last season where Bucky

(23:32):
Irving did not necessarily come out of the gates swinging
something that you all let me know about very early on,
like oh what up in a Buckie Irving? And then
you all disappeared by the end of the year. And
that's fine. But the thing of it is, Caleb Johnson
will start off slow. He'll probably get released in a
lot of spots. People will rage drop him or do
whatever they do. You need to be mindful and go

(23:54):
add him to your roster once he has dropped and
the fantasy community has soured on him, because he is
going to be a force for this team in the
second half of the season.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
We see it so many times rank with rookie running backs,
and that's why I'm going to take one as well,
because there was a hamstring injury in the preseason for
Cam Skataboo, and if not for that, I think he
would have been a legitimate threat to dethrone told Tracy
as the starter, but now feels a bit more solid
in that number two spot. And I'm not saying he
won't be a major player later in the season. I

(24:25):
think he will be as they transition to an all
rookie backfield and Jackson Dart eventually takes the starting quarterback job.
He's already been named the number two, but with two
of the top four scoring defenses on the schedule in
the first four weeks, I think it's going to be
a little bit slower for camp.

Speaker 4 (24:40):
Well, I'll keep the rookie running back theme going here
and get you Omari in Hampton, and I know folks
in the fantasy community absolutely love him. I am a
little bit feeling like I think people are sort of
underestimating the Naji Harris impact here, and I get it.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
Near Harris had the eye issue.

Speaker 4 (24:58):
We really didn't see him all throughout t a camp
in the preseason, but I think Greg Roman has made
it clear that they want to use both running backs.
I think they wanted to use two guys last year.
It's just that JK. Dobbins was so much better than
Gus Edwards. Edwards also had some injury issues, but I
think Naji Harris will play a role. The other part
of this is the first three games that the Chargers
player against teams that were ranked in the top half

(25:19):
of the league in run defense this year. So I
just think matchup plus having another guy behind him means
Omar and Hampton not gonna be great, but be patient,
it will get better.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Marcus, Thank you, Patrick.

Speaker 4 (25:55):
It is time now for Marcus my words where I
look at some.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
Things that are going to have you during and.

Speaker 4 (26:01):
After Week one, and so we'll start at the quarterback position,
because look, if you have two fringe qb ones, chances
are you're gonna start the wrong one. Okay, you thought
it was a good idea to take a guy like
Jared Goff and pair him with an upside quarterback like
justin Fields.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
You look at the schedule, you see the.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
Packers, you see Michael Parsons. Oh, no way, you're starting
Jared Goff right. All that guarantees he's gonna go for
three hundred and three touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
Or he's on the other way. You decide to start
justin Fields, chances are the.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
Steelers are gonna clamp down on him in the revenge game.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
You're just gonna be frustrated. Don't worry. You'll get it
right at some point. Just probably that in Week one.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
Next up, you are going to overreact to Week one results.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
We do it every single year.

Speaker 4 (26:41):
Let's look back to last year, though, shall we Your
wide receiver ones after Week one of last season, Jaden
Reid and Cooper Cup. Let's not forget that Alan Lazard
also went out had a big game in the season
opener for the Jets. Just take a breath and remember,
a big Week one doesn't guarantee long seas season long sss. Similarly,
a bad Week one doesn't mean that everything's falling apart

(27:04):
on your roster. And finally, you're gonna spend too much
fab on a waiver wire option in week one? Yes,
I know, usually the waiver wire hero of the year
shows himself in the first couple of weeks of the season.
And yeah, that wide receiver just popped out of nowhere,
But maybe be a little bit judicious. Don't go blowing
ninety percent of your fab on the one guy. This

(27:25):
chances are you're gonna need to fill that RB two
spot somewhere late in the season to try and make
the playoffs when you only got a dollar left. Gonna
be feeling pretty sad about it. So spend, but spend wisely.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
Patrick, Yeah, the spending definitely definitely occurs when they're rookies,
and they can get even worse than the Dynasty's circumstances. People,
oh oh is gonna be the greatest player of all
time after Week one. So you've ranked your top ten rookies.
We've got the first five already up there, Ashon Gent,
Trevion Henderson, Lamar and Hampton Tenorllald McMillan, and Travis Hunter.
How do you fill out the rest of your top ten?

Speaker 3 (27:56):
And I'll understand too, people want to put Travis Hunter
maybe a spot or too high. I'm not gonna argue
with you. That's fine, but I'm gonna go And I
actually just made a switch recently. I'm gonna go with
the Mika Abuka at the number six spot for the rookies.
If you look at this Buccaneers offense last season, they
show that they can support two wide receivers, and even
with the loss of Liam Cohen who went down to Duvoh,

(28:20):
the Buccaneers offense is still going to be very good.
I expect them to put the ball up into the air,
and until Chris Godwin comes back, Amika Abuka is going
to be the number two wide receiver in this offense.
So I'm gonna be putting in right there at number six.
The guy that I had had there initially moved down
a spot, not necessarily because it was anything that he did,
but I'm gonna go with R. J. Harvey. Now, listen,

(28:42):
this is like that great movie with Sean Payton. The
Home team spoke to us, I still believe the words
that are coming out of the mouth of Sean Payton.
I do believe that when he is starting to talk
up players like RJ. Harvey, I believe that he's going
to have a huge role in this offense. It's easy
just to sit there and do one of those things

(29:02):
where you do a lazy comparison like this is Alvin Kamara, however,
sort of is this is exactly what this is, exactly
the kind of offense that Sean Payton is putting together.
Bo Nix has a lot of the same characteristics as
Drew Brees. Similarly, his wide receivers and his running backs
starting to do the same thing.

Speaker 5 (29:19):
We got Kevin James to make the movie about this season.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
I know Kevin James needs to we need to reboot.
We need to reboot. Okay, I'm gonna go. I wasn't
gonna do this at first, but I'm gonna go with
Colston Lovelin, and I know that a lot of people
other than going with Tyler Warren much higher in their drafts.
The more I watch the Bears, the more people that
I talk to in the Chicago Land Area. I feel
more confident going with Colston Lovelin in this spot. Remember

(29:45):
Ben Johnson drafted this player, and again not to be
too lazy with our comparisons, but he was on the
staff that drafted Sam Laporta. There is a definite role
in mind for Colston Lovelin. I feel real confident if
you missed out on the tight end run of this
happened to me a couple of times during drafts and
I ended up with Colson Levelin. I'm cool with it.

(30:06):
I don't think you need to really stress about it
too much. Although again, if you prefer Tyler, I am
not gonna argue with you, because there is a player
right here who could end up being the most targeted
pass catcher in this Colts offense. When you think about
Daniel Jones and is I don't want to say inability.
I think he can throw the ball down the field,
he just doesn't do it a lot. So I'm looking

(30:26):
for the wide for the pass catchers who are going
to be closer to the line of scrimmage, which includes
Tyler Warren and Josh Downs and players like that. Tyler Warren. Again,
it's one of those things that I've been seeing him
go in the I mean, we've drafted now. I feel
like I'm one of the few lunatics who are still
doing drafts right now. But if you got Tyler Warren,
you should be very happy with that, and he's gonna

(30:47):
be very good for the Colts. And then I got
Cayleb Johnson. I just talked about this a moment ago.
Expect a slow start. You're gonna need to be patient
with Caleb Johnson. But he is a good running back.
He fits this Steelers off. We've seen over the last
number of years with Mike Tomlin in charge, they'll run
with two running backs. I think early on they're gonna
go with Tyler Warren. You just have to be ready

(31:09):
for that. Caleb Johnson needs just to remain on your bench.
The moment will arise. It happens every year. Don't be
that person that over that, that overreacts to everything that's
going on. It's happened a couple of years ago. I
think Ramadre Stevenson was the best example of this. Like
everybody was in on Remandre and he hit so many
waiver wires in week three and then by week five,

(31:31):
everybody was scrambling to pick him up again. That will
happen if you drop Caleb Johnson. So make sure that
if you did draft him, you hold on to him.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
So all top ten of Adam Rank's rookies for the
twenty twenty five season. Once upon a time there was
a clear cut rookie coming into an NFL season and
coming up you thought it.

Speaker 5 (31:49):
Was time to quit him.

Speaker 2 (31:50):
We're quitting cop hits wrong.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
Adam Rank has a guarantee you need to hear before
Week one kicks off. Next on NFL Fantasy Lack. The
twenty twenty five NFL season is almost here. A single
game tickets are on sale now seventeen games for all
thirty two teams. Visit NFL dot com slash tickets to

(32:15):
purchase verified tickets through the NFL ticket network including Ticketmaster,
Seat Geek, and Sports Illustrated Tickets.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Take your tickets to the window, Tom to take it
to the rank. All right, Patrick, thank you so much.
Time now for a season long look as we go
for my first ever review. But take it to the rank.
But we all start off with America's team, Dallas Cowboys.
We're talking about Dak Prescott. The Cowboys were already one

(32:42):
of the most pass happy teams in the NFL before
everything happened with Michaeh Parsons last season, the second most
attempts pass attempts per game this year. So I expect
Dak Prescott to be firing it up. And if you
look at him, if you look at his career when
he's healthy, ready to go, he is had over thirty
seven hundred passing yards and four of his will hold

(33:03):
on mister four of his six career seasons. And I
say he does that again this year because guess what,
you can take it to the rank that was a
terrible toss. Listen, it's still preseason for me, all right,
Let's talk about the running back position. In the running
back position is not dead. The Las Vegas Raiders made
Ashton Genty a top ten pick in the real NFL draft.

(33:25):
He's going in the first round of your fantasy football drafts,
and the reason being Pete Carroll Chip Kelly have both
shown over the course of their careers they love to
lean on that running game and it is going to
benefit Ashton Genty, who will be another one of those
running backs who goes out and tops over one thousand
yards So this is it. Ashton Genty will have at

(33:45):
least a thousand rushing yards this season, and guess what
you can take it to the rank.

Speaker 5 (33:51):
Better?

Speaker 3 (33:52):
We're getting better with the tosses. All right, Let's go
to the Jets, who will once again be having a
new starting quarterback, only this time it'll be former Justin Field,
who is Justin Fields, who's going to be reunited with
his Ohio State teammate Garrett Wilson. And we're not talking
about the pass connection. We're talking about the departures from

(34:13):
the backfield. That's right. Justin Fields is one of the
most prolific runners in the NFL. When you look at
his projection, they have him at six hundred yards projected
rushing this season. I say the Justin Fields will far
exceed that expectation. And guess what you can take it
to the rank? All right, we'll time it up, We'll

(34:33):
time it up all right. Now. Finally, listen, if Kyle
Pitts has no fans, but that means I have departed
this earth because I am still one of the biggest,
if not the only, fan of Kyle Pitts, and I
know a lot of you are disrespecting him. Not going
to go back there and do it again. But when
you look at the history of what Kyle Pitts has

(34:54):
been able to do, he had one thousand receiving yards
as a rookie, and now Michael Pennix, when you look
at the connection they had last year, Darnell Mooney already
having injury problems. Kyle Pitts is gonna go out there
on a revenge tour this season. I say the Kyle
Pitts has well over his projected five hundred receiving yards
this season. And guess what you could take it to

(35:15):
the rank. I am going to get that card toss
good one of these days. But there it is Patrick,
the first ever or the first take it to the
rank of.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
The season and the best thus far, as Tom for
asking for Fred here on NFL Fantasy Life. As you
guys have looked at your sleepers and decided which ones
that you truly believe in, I will tell you how
we feel about your sleepers, starting with this one from Ronsona.

Speaker 5 (35:41):
Matthew Golden Baby?

Speaker 3 (35:43):
Is that for me? I really like Matthew Golden. Coming
into the draft season, I thought that he was going
to be the top receiver off the board. I thought
that's who Carolina. Actually, I thought Carolina should taken Colson Lovelin.
But Matthew Golden is a great receiver. Then he went
to Green Bay and I don't feel them. No, I'm kidding, No,
he's a good pick.

Speaker 5 (35:59):
I agree with you.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
Matthew Golden's gonna be very good.

Speaker 5 (36:01):
All right.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
Next one's for you, Marcus. That comes from Henry Base
Old Teuton.

Speaker 4 (36:06):
I am rooting for Tuton, but I'm gonna tell you
that you're going to have to be patient, right because
Travis Etn is still there.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
He's still the lead running back.

Speaker 4 (36:14):
Tank Bigsby was very efficient last year and his opportunities,
so you know, it's gonna take a while. I think
for Tuton to sort of break through here, it might
get kind of messy, kind of muddled, but I think
by the end of the year you might have something there.
So as long as you can wait it out. Again,
I'm I'm here rooting for Tuton.

Speaker 5 (36:31):
Yeah, I love Base Old Tuton.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
Let's go to darn Tutin.

Speaker 1 (36:36):
This one comes from Pokemon Trainer or Brian to look
on Cash and the Ball. Dante Thorton Junior will win
Fantasy championships, he says, I think perhaps we could eventually
get there. I know Pete Carroll would like to run
the football. Gino Smith did throw a touchdown to Thornton
in the preseason, but you have to consider just how
much volume he's gonna get with a receiving group that

(36:56):
includes Shacoby Myers, Brock Bauers, Amartin Cooper coming in could
get a little bit crowded. But maybe as the season
goes on, I get more opportunity for Thornton and more
chances to catch Pokemon back to you rank to.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
SLA, I prefer Darryl Rivian of the Innate. No such
player and it's an electronic whatever. No, he was very
excited during the preseason, but I think one of the
things with the Detroit Lions is that they have so
many available weapons out there. When you have Jamier Gibbs
and David Montgomery in the backfield, Jamo to go along

(37:28):
with a mon Ross, Saint Brown and Sam Laporta. I
really liked what he did. I think he's a great
long term prospect for the Lions, but I think this
season he's going to be a very exciting, highlight play
type of dude. And we'll see him on That helps
no one to be on the waiver wire hot sauce
at least once. But I don't see him being a
consistent guy week in and week out.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
Okay, Marcus, next player question or thought coming for you?
Was the sleeper belief coming from Stole Stelenski Here Mason
Taylor with DNA from Jason Taylor and Zat Thomas.

Speaker 5 (37:59):
It's a no brainer. He's doing genetics. How do you feel?

Speaker 4 (38:02):
Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna stay away from the genetics
part of the whole thing. I do like Mason Taylor.
I think there's an opportunity. I think he's a talented
player in an offense that look, as long as I've
been alive, the Jets have never really had a tight
end of note. I think he can actually be that
guy this year. But I mean, look, there's a there's
a quarterback in Cleveland whose dad is a Hall of
Famer who doesn't really seem to be, you know.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Lighting the world on fire just yet.

Speaker 4 (38:25):
So I'm gonna stay away from the whole, you know,
family lineage.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
Part of this whole game.

Speaker 3 (38:30):
I was like, wait, is Brian Sipe's son playing for.

Speaker 5 (38:35):
This will go from Hercules. I'll take it. It's Tory
hilt Horton. If you know, you know, and I agree.

Speaker 1 (38:41):
I think the size and the speed definitely makes sense
when you consider that Sam Donald had all those deep
passing attempts. But my question is, is Mike McDonald going
to allow Sam Donald to throw some of those yolo
balls at Kevin O'Connell was comfortable with him throwing in
Minnesota last year. I said, good luck Hercules, but I
might hold off on the Tourry Holton believe, Tory Horton belief.

(39:02):
At this point in the season ten, Welcome to the
Divisional Round, the most highly anticipated matchup.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
Of the season. May more trying to love y'all.

Speaker 1 (39:13):
That's the second turnover the night from Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 6 (39:16):
To Alan Keefer and he's gonna run it.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
In seventeen is a scoring the.

Speaker 6 (39:21):
Ship Fireton coal Mine touch down Isaiah Likely and now
it pumps down to a two point conversion.

Speaker 3 (39:30):
The whole season comes down to display.

Speaker 8 (39:33):
Oh, the ball was shopped.

Speaker 3 (39:35):
They had the two point conversion in his hands.

Speaker 8 (39:37):
The Mills have won twenty seven twenty five.

Speaker 1 (39:40):
God Tonight, Rich Eisen, Kurt Warner, Steve Mariucci, Gerald McCoy,
Colleen Wolf, our dear friend Cynthia Freeland, and the NFL Insiders.

Speaker 5 (39:50):
Get you ready for a kickoff week.

Speaker 1 (39:52):
On NFL Game Day Season Preview, Kyle Brant sits down
with the man who won that game there, NFL MVP
Josh Allen, plus Super Bowl, the Biggest Threat to the Eagles,
and more. Don't miss the Game Day Season Preview tonight
at eight eastern on NFL Network's time for.

Speaker 5 (40:08):
Us to do something woulda, could have, should have?

Speaker 1 (40:10):
As we look to some things that we look back
on our draft season and said, oh, maybe I could
have done that a little bit differently.

Speaker 5 (40:17):
What's yours, Adam?

Speaker 3 (40:18):
Right, Well, I guess I should have waited on bres
Hall because apparently not everybody was excited about Breece Hall
as I was. I was doing my league with Golf
Tech and in the Hackers Paradise, and I'm like, I
gotta get bres Hall here right at the end of
the second round, early third and like everybody's like, yeah,
we weren't taking them there. I'm like, oh, okay. So
as as drafts went on and I started getting him

(40:38):
in the fifth, I felt like, Okay, this is a
better value. I thought that everybody would see that Tanner
Engstron came over from Detroit, it was going to run
a style similar to what they run in Detroit, and
be like, oh, we got to be all about this guy. No,
everybody's like he's a Jet, so I'm not drafting him.

Speaker 4 (40:55):
Well, I should have probably skipped drafting any sayints, And
I do appreciate Adam Rank trying to make me feel
better about Rashid Chihed. There are a couple of different
drafts where I kind of got to mid the late part.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
Of the draft, I sort of panicked.

Speaker 4 (41:06):
I was like, ah, and I drafted Rashid Hihed. I
just am not excited about this Saints offense this year.
My fear is I'm gonna have him, and he's gonna be,
you know, too good for me to actually drop, but
never really good enough for me to feel confident about
having him in my lineup.

Speaker 2 (41:19):
So that's maybe one of the big regrets I have
from draft season.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
Yeah, as the draft season rolled on and I kept
seeing folks fade Tyreek Hill, especially now if you're still drafting,
and he got not named a team captain, and folks
were wow, that's that's it. It's over for Tyrek Hill.
I should have drafted more Tyreek Hill. I was in
multiple drafts where guys like Marvin Harrison Junior T. Higgins
were going ahead of a guy who was on pace

(41:42):
to shatter every receiving record just two years. It was
not that long ago for Tyreek Hill, and I thought
I perhaps overthought a little bit about other positions on
my team. I should have got a player of huge
value in my opinion in twenty twenty five and got
more Tyreek Kill.

Speaker 3 (41:58):
Well, we were talking about it at the end of
the last week about how much we liked Tyreek Hill,
and I'm like yeah, And so over the weekend I
started doing that. I started getting more and more shares
of Tyreek Hill because I really do believe that he
has an opportunity to be good and regardless of what's
going to go on in that Miami Dolphin situation, I
know that he was removed from captain. So that's that's
a big motivator to their Patrick.

Speaker 1 (42:18):
Yeah, it's like his there was a big seat in
his locker and the entire team marched up to it and.

Speaker 3 (42:24):
Pulled it off.

Speaker 2 (42:25):
It was like it was like the reverse reverse Rudy Right.

Speaker 4 (42:28):
They all just said, we're gonna, we're gonna put our
jerseys here until you take the sea away from it.

Speaker 5 (42:31):
We don't want to see on Tyrek Hill. It wasn't
like that. They just voted for somebody else. We hope
you keep supporting us.

Speaker 1 (42:37):
Join us tomorrow after Old's Fantasy Live for Adam rak

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
