Speaker 1 (00:00):
Wow, Wow, everybody, it is a Thursday, July thirty first,
twenty twenty five. Welcome to a special edition of the
NFL Fantasy Football Podcast. It's me your man named G.
Marcus Grant joined by Michael F. Floria. We are here

(00:21):
at Loyola Marymount University at RAMS training camp. Chance to
sit down with some of the guys with the Los
Angeles Rams. Really sad about this opportunity. I know we
have to do Charger Camp a couple of years ago.
Today we have to do RAMS camp. You know, our
boy Lakwan Jones is standing by envious. I was getting
to talk to some of us dudes.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
He's here, and I was here for one reason only.
I wanted to find out who the best hooper on
the RAMS was. Yeah, like, that's all I care about.
So we will find out for you which one of
their skill positions is the best one.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
High chants to sit down with a couple of the
running backs. Talked with jar Quest Hunter and Blake Krum.
Also a couple of the wide receivers with Twuta at
Well and Canate Mompfield. So I gotta get their feelings on,
you know, their expectations for the team. This year, just
sort of life with the Rams dealer with coach Sean McVay,
and of course finding out who the best hooper on
the team is. Uh So, looking forward to it. Enjoy,

(01:10):
enjoy what should be a really fun show. Chance to
talk to a couple of the wide receivers for the
Los Angeles Rams, joined by to two out well and
can I te Momfield fellas, appreciate your stopping body man.
How's camp going for you?

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Camp going great? Appreciate you for having us? Yeah, great, great, great.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
So I just gotta ask about you know, you gotta
be out here like you know. Can I tell this
is your first year, your rookie season. You were getting
some praise from from one of the goats, man Davante Adams,
had a lot of great things to say about you
so far. What has that meant to you and what
have you kind of learned from Davante's that you've been here?

Speaker 4 (01:41):
It means a lot, you know, truly a blessing to
get recognized by somebody that I grew up watching, So
I mean, it means the world.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
But I mean just being a sponge from all.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Those guys, from Davante to Tutu to Pookah, just learning
and absorbing as much as I can so.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
And first training camp, Tuta, you're the veteran in that
wide receiver room.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
You've been there longer than anyone.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Do you have to like show guys where the vending
machines are and like the bathrooms are. So like, what
does it mean to you being the longest tenured RAMS
wide receiver?

Speaker 5 (02:08):
It means a lot, man, you know, just I did
my time just from coming into twenty one and you know,
had a greater amount of guys that come in like
O'Dell Coop, Robert Woods and Shawn Jackson. I learned from
those guys, and you know, just meeting Devonte and the
rest of these rookies, just trying to get to know
them and you know, just teach them something and learning
from them as well.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
So it feels good.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah. I mean to see you were one of the
few guys left from that Super Bowl team. I mean,
what does that mean? What what sort of experience can
you can you share with these guys about what it
means to win a championship?

Speaker 5 (02:39):
It means a lot, man, you know, just be on
that team. We had a lot of great players and
you know, just back in back back in that year.
You know, Sean had a great he ran the organization
the team as a great a great, a great.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
Way to run it.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
And you know, just it's about winning and taking care
of your players, you know. And I feel like everybody
want to be here, and everybody want to come here
to see what it's like to win and just bring
these guys along as the rookies, you know, just showing
it away and what it takes for.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
And this is one of the more talented wide receiver
rooms in all of the NFL this year with you
guys and Puka and Davante. But like you said, over
the years, there's just been so a surplus of talent
and a great head coach to play for.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
So for you, what's it like.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
You after hear getting to play with so much talent,
And what's it like walking into the rooms rams locker
room for the first time?

Speaker 4 (03:30):
I mean too, it's amazing, Like you said, the talent,
you know, it was off the charge and like I said,
being able to be a sponge and learn from everybody,
not even just receivers, and just how people go about
their business, how pros act like pros. So I get
to kind of see that firsthand. Shoot, Like you said,
great coat of staff, great people. So it's an amazing situation.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Can I tell I was going through your Twitter feed
and a lot of a lot of retweets of like
videos of routes and other players for you. Who are
some of the guys you've patterned your game after?

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (04:01):
Yeah, man, I got a list. I try to get
like a bits and pieces from everybody.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
You know. That's the beauty of receiver.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
But I know, growing up big for me was Amari Cooper, Uh,
Davante Adams.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
I like Jerry Judy. I like Deontay Johnson's game a
little bit.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Uh taking back Stevie Johnson a little bit, you know,
I was. I'm a hooper, so I kind of like
kind of matter those or look at guys that kind
of move in the same way I do, I think.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
So you mentioned you're a hooper. I've heard that you
are a hooper as well. Which who is the best
hooper in the Rams? Wide receiver?

Speaker 5 (04:37):
I got a little little three point range shot I got.
I can hoop a little bit. I ain't playing high school,
but I can hoop on some. But you got Hookah's great.
You got Xavier Smith, Uhdvante Adams hoop as well. I
don't know what I was hoping yourself.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
He got a chair to show myself, you know, ween,
we ain't play, Yeah, but I like me, That's what
I was like.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
We having three point content. I like me, but I
can pay a little bit though.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
But you you.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Went to Pitt, there was another ram great who went
to Pitt. Have you had a chance to meet Aaron
Donald at any point?

Speaker 4 (05:16):
So I met him. I think he was in the facility,
maybe like a couple of weeks ago. I was up
here all summer. So finally got a chance to meet
him face to face. I said, I introduced myself. We
talked for a little bit, and but I used to
see him all the time in the facility when he
came back to pit, you know, working out. He got
his own locker and everything. You got to stay away
from his locker. So but now I definitely got a

(05:38):
chance to talk to him.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Ready to keep that Panther legacy going out.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Here and see it.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
Yeah, I'm trying to focus off being the best version
of myself, and that's a great player, and I want
to be a great player as well. So I mean
right now, just taking the day by day, like I said,
learning and making the best of every opportunity.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
So and to too. We know that you used to
play quarterback back in the day. Do you ever go
to the quarterback needed or like tell Stafford like hey,
like like this is what you should be looking for.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
Yeah, I go to the quarterback means me and Pooka
we go there. But I don't tell Stafford sit And
I observed he know I'm that sponge to soak everything
in and just listen to the calls they make and
listen to the reason he might say what I could
do this or what Pooka could do that, And you know,
just just being there, just my prisons in there, it
means a lot and just learning for those guys and

(06:25):
see what they see.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
It's a blessing of being.

Speaker 6 (06:27):
There and.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Keep going to there.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Yes, and Coach mcvader dropped some maybe a couple of
throws for you somewhere.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
We had a couple of ones throughout my years here.
You know, had one last.

Speaker 6 (06:37):
Year with d Rod.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
He started a bounce I threw like we competed a
two point conversion when I threw on the Stafford we
play against Dallas. Whatever was last year, No, that was
the year before. But you know, we got something. We
have some stuff in for you guys.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
We need to see some trick players.

Speaker 5 (06:52):
Get that ar work and I got warm up.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
It's been a minutester, so couple of fun things for
you guys. Who controls the music out of here practice?
Who gets the out here bert?

Speaker 3 (07:06):
I don't know nothing about that.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
The equipment staff, I'm quite sure you could tell them
what so on they want to play, but they have
their own little playlist.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
I don't mess with the players. I let it, I
let it ride out.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Well, go ahead.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Have you guys, you've been here for a while now,
but have you had a welcome to al a moment yet.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Like a celebrity setting or big just like I'm here
in l A kind of thing.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Uh. I don't really know if I had a welcome
to l A.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
I think just the vibe and like the the sits in,
like the land, you know, kind of the mountains and
things like that.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Just it just always chill, you know, weatherwise.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
But I mean, I've seen a couple of celebrities, but
not too many.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
I haven't got a chance to really.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Have you been a starstruck yet.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
Nah, I haven't been start. I don't really look at
people in the other ways.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
That's probably for the best. Before we let you go,
your guys, expectations for what you guys think of you
happened on the field.

Speaker 5 (08:00):
Shit, h looking forward to having another great year. I
feel like I improved every year that I've been here.
Make that most of the opportunities I had when I
got in and got my opportunity. So you know, just
looking forward to just keep doing that and keep elevating
and pretty much just man, just having a great season,

(08:20):
hoping have a great season, Hoping the whole the whole
team and the whole Rams have a great season.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
So looking forward to that.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Yeah, how about you.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Yeah, just same, you know, hoping that everybody has a
great season, from all the coaching staff, players, including myself.
But you know, just just focusing on being the best
person I can and best player I can each and
every day coming in, just stacking days and whatever role
that's given to me, just play it at the best
of my ability. So I mean, whenever you know my

(08:48):
name is called, just be the best. Like I said,
be the best version of myself. But right now, just
like I said, being a sponge from shoot to to
Davante Pooka X Jordan Woodington.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
You know, I mean, I'm loving it so far.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
You know, you guys, Do you guys think Sean McVay
is because he's been hitting the gym clearly.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Is he trying to suit up with you guys? I
don't know that.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
What day I've seen him out there running like full sprints.

Speaker 7 (09:14):
I know what he got place for himself, coach.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
I think he's still.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Awesome. Hey, fels Man, we appreciate the time that's left
this season. You appreciate appreciate us. Joined now by a
couple guys from the RAMS running back room, joined by
Blake Corman and Jarquest Hunter. Guys, appreciate the time. Man.
How's camping going for you?

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Can's been amazing. Can's been an absolutely amazing.

Speaker 7 (09:39):
We've come out here last week and a half. I
guess you could call him and we're dominating, you know,
on both sides of all three phases, special teams, offensive defense.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
We're looking great. So I got said you gott Michigan, you
got notre dame. You're a right, there's a rivalry there,
but no, Kying.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Is not your dame. Do you guys have that rivalry
in season?

Speaker 6 (10:03):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (10:03):
Notre Dame mis Michigan. Yeah, we have played.

Speaker 7 (10:05):
We played each other in twenty nineteen before I got
to Michigan, and I don't think they're on the schedule.
I couldn't tell you. I don't think Notre Dame in
Michigan are playing for a while.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
God yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
But so what for you, like year two, how is
that different from year one where you're coming in as
a rookie who which our question is now dealing with
all this new stuff as a rookie.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
How do you feel more comfortable in your two?

Speaker 7 (10:29):
The game slowed down a lot. The game slowed down
a lot for me. I feel like for me year one,
I was trying to be perfect and everything that I
did right, I didn't want to make any mistakes, you know,
I was trying to be as perfect as I possibly
could be, and that slowed me down a little bit
in terms of my capabilities. But now I'm just out there,
you know, letting it loose. You know, I'm playing at

(10:50):
a lower way. I feel faster, I feel more agile,
and I feel great. So really, just between that and
just everything slowing down the game slowing down.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
That's that's the biggest difference.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
Jock quest. For folks who aren't maybe familiar with your game,
what can people expect from you this year?

Speaker 6 (11:06):
Uh, expect the I got I'm pretty down here runner,
and I got decent speed, and I gotta run people.
That's most of my game is getting bogging downhill and
I running people.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
And what was it like for you?

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Because we saw the excitement in the behind the scenes
from from Les Need and Sean McVay when they drafted you.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
What was it like for you to watch that and
see like they were so excited to bring you here.

Speaker 6 (11:30):
Oh yeah, they put a smile on my face just
seeing them how happy they was and they drafting me.
I mean, it made me and my family very happy
and very proud to see that, to see the excitement
they had on their face when they picked me.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Blake for you, you went, You played in college for
Jim Harbaugh, now you're playing for Sean McVay. Compare it contrast,
just like the personalities of those two guys.

Speaker 7 (11:50):
Yeah yeah, I mean they're both great coaches.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
You know.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
I love playing for coach Harbor. I was at Michigan.

Speaker 7 (11:56):
I love playing for coach McVay right now, the culture
he's built with the Rams, the way he taxed each
and every day, How consistent he is, you know, his
enthusiasm is love for the game.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
It's amazing. And I would say that's similarities.

Speaker 7 (12:09):
They're both just super consistent, you know, and you can
tell they both really enjoy the game.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
You know. Coach Harball he likes you know, maybe a little.

Speaker 7 (12:17):
More strict, I guess, I guess you could say where
coach McVeigh he really is a is a people's person.
He's a players coach, and he likes to have fun,
you know, and so you know, you can really relate.
You know, he's on the younger side, where coach Harball,
you know, is getting up there in age. But both
phenomenal coaches. But man, I love playing for the Rams.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
And the Rams have the most member of the Michigan
National Championship team, So the most NFL players are on
the Rams.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
Three.

Speaker 5 (12:47):
Yeah, but the Chargers got a couple of your coaches.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Has that made the adjustment to LA easier for you
or you know, anywhere you go you would like to,
you know, have someone on the team.

Speaker 7 (12:56):
You know, uh, you know that you've played with before, right,
so when first guy here, obviously they picked Josh up,
so it was like comfortable, you know, all right, I
already know someone, But I'm a people person at the
end of the day, I like building connections, you know,
I like talking to people. So you know, it really
wasn't hard for me, you know, coming here, making friends,
getting to know the guys. But you know, it's always comfortable,
you know, knowing someone that you've played with before.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Uh Jarckqus, I know you were a powerlifter. We've noticed
coach McVeigh getting kind of swollen out there. Has he
challenged you? Have you challenged him? Is there something going
on maybe like a powerlifting competition there in the locker.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Room or something.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
He ain't challenged me yet. I don't think he.

Speaker 6 (13:32):
Want to do that because I got I still got
the strength from high school that I had when I
was doing power edge, and so I.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
Feel like he don't want to. He don't want to
do that challenge.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
You just said.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
He might be gearing up to play you guys.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
Think can he full back full back a block for
you guys or get.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
Open some holes for Yeah, he might be able to.
He's got the size. That's for sure.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
So I mean, as you guys look into you know,
to this year and everything, your expectations blake for you know,
what the Rams can accomplishing. Maybe what you if you
have any personal goals for this year.

Speaker 7 (14:03):
I think you know for right now, you know, we
just take it one day at the time, right you know,
you can only be where your feet are, and I
think that's our approach, you know, going into the season.
You know, we're going to take it one day at
a time, you know, keep you know, stacking days, creating blocks,
and we'll see where that goes.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
You know.

Speaker 7 (14:18):
Obviously you know our plan is to win, but like
I said, you have to be where your feet off
for the meantime.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
So we're just going to focus on that right now.

Speaker 7 (14:24):
And then you know, personal goals, just do whatever I can,
you know, to help the team win, you know, whether
that be playing, whether that be you know, breaking off
explosive plays on special teams or the running back, but
just whatever, you know, whatever I can do to make
sure you know, this team, you know, gets to where
we need to be.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
That's what I'm here for.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
And I always like to create some friendly robberies. And
I'm a basketball guy. So who's the best hooper in
the Rams running back rooms?

Speaker 3 (14:46):
Me challenge? You can tell Shot too strong?

Speaker 1 (14:54):
None of them?

Speaker 7 (14:56):
Shot is too strong for me. I'm flip fluid man.
It comes off the wrist. It's like, you know, what's
going on.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
I don't know if.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Anyone stopping him if he gets back to the basket. Also,
have you had like a welcome to a lay moment
yet since you've got here?

Speaker 3 (15:17):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (15:18):
Not really.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
I don't think I had that moment yet.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
I haven't seen Lebron yet. I gotta ask you, Blake,
because you were talking about the National Championship team. J
J McCarthy. I know he didn't get to play last
year unfortunately, was injured. You got to play alongside of
him for fans, you know, for those fantasy nerves and
stuff like that. What can folks expect from JJ?

Speaker 7 (15:37):
I think he has a great opportunity to be a
great quarterback in this league. I think he showed a
little bit of what he could have done in preseason
last year obviously before he went down. But you know,
he's really smart. You know, he's a field general. He
loves the game. So he's going to be in that
film room. He's going to do whatever the coaches ask
him to do. You know, he's going to ask questions
and I mean, I think he's going to be a
phenomenal player and it's going to be a phenomenal year

(15:59):
for him, especially with the talent he has around him, right,
I mean from the running back position to the wide outs,
to the tight ends to the line. You know, they
have a solid team. So and obviously you know their offense.
You know, it's kind of like ours, you know, under
coach mcveigh's you know, umbrella. But you know, I think
the sky's the limit.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
For him, you know.

Speaker 7 (16:16):
So you know, if you're a fantasy, if you play fantasy,
he might be a guy you want to pick.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
I think it's gonna be a good.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Year, all right, cool ah, I was gonna say so,
we were asking about who plays the music and stuff.
If you had the offs court, either of you guys,
what would we expect to hear?

Speaker 3 (16:31):
It just depends, you know.

Speaker 6 (16:32):
I have a mood each and every day we wake up,
wake up and want to listen to Some days I
could listen to rap music, some days I can listen
to country music.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
And then someday we're want to listen to some blues
you know, Okay, okay, okay, that might not play well.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
All right, well, hey fellas, we appreciate the time. Man,
best of luck to both of you this season. Man,
we appreciate talking to no, appreciate y'all. Appreciate y'all. Thank you.
Thank you to the RAMS for helping us out with this.
I enjoyed talking with all the guys here and are
we decided. Of the four guys we talked to, I'm

(17:06):
I'm gonna say, Momfield's the best hooper on this, I'm gonna.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Say darkas Hunter because he utmost confidence, was like, it's me,
so I think he backs that up.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
I would say, look, if you pair them up, you
got a solid inside outside game Shack and Kobe. Yeah,
it's a modern night outside game the pair of the
two of them up. But should be an interesting year
for sure. With the Rams, we got a chance to
watch practice. So looking forward to kind of seeing these guys.
That wide receiver room looks potentially stacked this year.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
Yeah, and it's I mean the running back room and
so much talent, Like obviously Kyron is the headline, but
behind him is so much talent. This is going to
be a team that you want players on your fantasy
roster from.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Yeah, absolutely didn't get a chance to see Matthew Stafford
obviously still kind of dealing with the back issues, but
you expect once he is back and ready to go,
this offense will be up and running for sure. So again,
thanks to the Rams for all their help. We appreciate
it with Gavin and Christy and Cynthia for helping us
out as well getting things set up out here, So
we appreciate everybody for helping out. Heads up. On Tuesday,

(18:04):
we will be joined by actor Scott Porter. You may
know him better as Jason Street from Friday Night Lights,
Clear Eyes, Full Hearts Care. We'll be talking fantasy football
with him. I know he's a Denver Broncos fans. Maybe
we'll get his thoughts on bow Nicks and the Broncos
as well. Look forward to that. In the meantime, we
appreciate you hanging out with the NFL Fantasy Football Show.
Stay happy, safe and healthy, do good and live well.

(18:25):
Enjoy the Hall of Fame Game, Enjoy the weekend everybody,
and we'll talk to you again next week.
