Speaker 1 (00:04):
NFL Game Deview is a production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Everybody, Welcome to game debut, Patrick Claymont. Here is Greg
Rosenthal and Cynthia Freeland. Get you ready for Week eight?
And what a time, What a spectacular time we've been
having picking football games with the people.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
It's the time of year and I love picking games
with you. Although this show it drives me crazy because
then I just root for my picks and the picks
are inevitably wrong.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
That's when I switched to the picks.

Speaker 5 (00:32):
When you switch your picks, things go wrong. You need
to trust your gut. You need to believe in yourself.
You need to just listen to what's going on inside.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Sony.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
Yeah, I have a gut year and you have a
computer model.

Speaker 5 (00:42):
I'm actually gutless.

Speaker 6 (00:44):
This is Greg when he doesn't stick to his picks.
Let's look back.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Last week, Greg and Cynthia went eleven and four in
the picks.

Speaker 6 (00:51):
Triple g would have done.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
He would have gone thirteen and two if he had
stuff with his gut and not changed his Colts and
Brown's picks. Last second, the standings, It's happening. Cynthia is
coming for the crown for the time being. I will
currently wear that at sixty six and forty one. Despite
being betrayed by the Dolphins and Chargers last week, Greg
isn't won the whole grudges, but you know who.

Speaker 6 (01:12):
Mike and has a big date with his ex this weekend.
Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 7 (01:19):
Still waiting for an answer from Aaron Rodgers this viewers
will retirement. The man hasn't seen the playoffs in several
years now. I don't need it for my ego, I
don't need it. The decisions made from the soul are
usually pretty fulfriendly Mike Tummy. I've been a fan of
his for a long time.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Aaron Rodgers, He's going to dawn a black and gold.

Speaker 6 (01:42):
I'm pretty sure this is it.

Speaker 5 (01:43):
I've played twenty pricking years.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Yeah, it's been a long run.

Speaker 7 (01:47):
This was really about finishing with love and fun and peace.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
I've been in this thing a long time.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
There's no substitute for intimacy and spending time together.

Speaker 7 (01:56):
This was a decision that was best for my soul.

Speaker 6 (01:59):
I'm excited to be here. Very unsettling animation there.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Let's look back at Aaron Rodgers time with the Green
Bay Packers Oh yeah, he won four MVPs, He's the
all time leader in passing touchdowns, won that Super Bowl
against the Steelers, and got the Super Bowl MVP. Eleven
career playoff wins, the fifth most by a quarterback with
a single team.

Speaker 6 (02:22):
And so we're calling it revenge.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
He's gonna get shot at revenge Sunday night when Jordan
Love and the Packers come to town.

Speaker 6 (02:27):
Aaron says it's not a revenge game for him.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
He also said it felt good to beat everyone associated
with the Jets. It also doesn't come close, he said,
to playing Green Bay because of the eighteen years.

Speaker 6 (02:36):
So there's a bit of a contradiction there. Good.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Yeah, I don't think looking for consistency in Aaron Rodgers's
quotes is really something you want to do or necessarily.
Like how he's played on the field this year. Look,
he's been better than I expected. But you saw the
old Am radio he was on like time comes for everyone.
His coach and the quarterback there, I think they're not
as good as the young guys over in Green Bay,

(02:59):
especially Jordan Love.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
When Jordan Love.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
And Matt Lafleur are on offense this week, and I
consider them a tandem. I think it's the mismatch, like
Mike Tomlin got lit up because that defense was predictable
last week, and that was against Joe Flacco. Jordan Love
is starting to play his best ball. Thought it was
a good game against Arizona. Thought he made more plays
on the move. That's where he has a lot of

(03:22):
confidence when you know he's making plays.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
That aren't just in structure.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
And I think in structure they will pick on the
Steelers defense. I don't think it's close. Thirty six to twelve,
the Packers get the win.

Speaker 5 (03:33):
The last time the Packers won in Pittsburgh, Bart Starr
beat Terry Bradshaw. Wow bit a minute since then, but
I have it happening just by one point. Though twenty
three to twenty two is my final score in this one.
I think that I like the balance with green Bay
better so on offense, their best on third down, but
on defense. In addition to this man that comes for

(03:53):
your life for your quarterback against a potential situation with
their O line where Aaron Rodgers said something along the
lines of like I like his, I like his he talks,
but I'm also forty one years old some version of that.
So long story short, Micah Parsons is coming for him.
But in addition to that, the Packers defense is also
really good at stopping the run, So that's why they

(04:14):
have the edge for me.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Yeah, specifically, the edge in the run game is why
I'm picking Green Bay to win as well. I've got
them winning by six points because they are successful on
the ground while the Steelers might not be.

Speaker 6 (04:25):
The Packers confident in their ability to.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Run or pass, but the run rate is the third
highest in the league while they are being a top
ten team in the league in terms of rush efficiency.

Speaker 6 (04:34):
They've got eight scores on the ground to the Steelers three.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
The Steelers may be getting three when they get in
the red zone, whereas I think the Packers might end up.

Speaker 6 (04:42):
Getting six in their opportunities.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
There one a season once again for Josh Jacobs. As
we yes are all picking Green Bay Packers mimus away
Steelers fans, but it's signed for Who's Eating Good presented
by Applebee's.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
Let's ask a.

Speaker 6 (04:56):
Question about Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
I think there's some conversation about him coming into this
game more or less Cynthia than two hundred and eighteen
passing yards.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
Well, we've seen Aaron Rodgers get rid of the ball
very quickly again this season, that's maybe where some of
that time is coming for him. So I think that
it ends up being more not necessarily because he's throwing
heel Mary's, which we did see. We saw one. Was
there begin to that, yes, but I'm not talking about that.
I'm talking about shorter passes, two tight ends. That has
been the formula for him, and especially with Micah Parsons
coming for you, you want to get rid of it very quickly,

(05:24):
which is what he'll do.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Our next matchup does take us to Denver, Colorado, where
the Broncos altered one of the wildest comebacks we've ever
seen last week against the Giants. As we start the
fourth quarter, remember they scored eighteen unanswered points to win
in Philadelphia two weeks ago to come from.

Speaker 6 (05:42):
Behind Giants nineteen dead or not.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
That the three receivers outside his right Nicks on a
designed quarterback run, bolls out to damps.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Stop Holy Matral.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
The Broncos are an extra point away from putting thirty
on the Giants in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 6 (06:02):
Now they motioned everybody out empty set for Dart.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Dart pumps his right leg takes a snap, he's gonna
run with it and he fives ahead.

Speaker 6 (06:11):
He break the play though, sure after we hear hearing
the play, it's a touchdown. Maget Tombey for the extra
point snap is good. He had gone its ways. He
missed it, Mecca.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Tommy has fished two extra points, an attempt of thirty
nine yards for the win.

Speaker 6 (06:33):
Snap placement kick on the way.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
He's done that thirty point fourth quarter, including coming back
and score with thirty seconds as the kickers fall. Now,
the Broncos play host to Dak Prescott and the Cowboys
on Sunday. How will Denver follow up last weekend's miraculous
wins well a.

Speaker 5 (06:57):
Four point win, which would keep on track with their
trend of having one possession wins or less. So four
points twenty seven to twenty three is what I have
in this one. And we saw something at the end
of that game from bo Nicks. Now, maybe you could
say that the Giants defense played some weird defense there
and Bonix was able to take advantage. But if you're
looking at the end of that game plus what he

(07:18):
does on third and fourth down combined, where he has
six hundred and seventy three total yards, including lots of
rushing yards. The screen passes work, folks, But ultimately I'm
seeing improvement from Bonnicks and this is a situation where
the defense has really helped keep the offense kind of
getting through some of their struggles. But I think it
starts to pull together against this Cowboys defense in this matchup.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
I like points in this game more than I like
either of these teams. Ultimately, I went with Denver, but
I don't think Denver's defense is going to be able
to stop this Cowboys offense.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
That's how good they are.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
But they will make a few plays and it probably
comes from the linebackers.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
Maybe it's Justin Strnad.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Yes, I love a good last name that starts with
four straight continents. If you have Justin Stronad on the field,
you don't know if he's dropping back and coverage big
pick last week, or he's gonna rush the passer.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
Three and a half sacks.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Six QB hits already career highs for a guy who's
been on.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
The roster for six seasons.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Drey green Law suspended this week, and I don't think
it's gonna hurt them because frankly, they should have strenad
on the field every down. He really has been a joker,
a difference maker. They have two great linebackers still in
the lineup with Alex Singleton, so they make a couple
big plays and get a close win.

Speaker 6 (08:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
I love this Denver Broncos defense, but this matchup here
is leading me towards taking the Dallas Cowboys. I've got
the Cowboys winning twenty four to twenty one. I don't
have a problem being all alone here because I feel
like the option pass game with the Giants might have
highlighted some places where Schottenheimer and Dak Prescott can take
advantage in that aspect of the game, and when things
need to be a little more traditional they can be.

(08:49):
Because George Pickens has been winning these contested Cats situations and.

Speaker 6 (08:53):
He's gonna have them. Look, here's Sauce Garter him fighting
with it. Marshau Latimore was doing it a couple weeks ago.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Don't know where jac Horn is on this play, babe.
He probably could have been on George Pickens. But Riley
Moss has been target it more than all quarterbacks in
the NFL except for five other ones, which is a
weird way for me to say that Stephanie top though.

Speaker 6 (09:10):
In terms of getting.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Targets because of who's on the other side, I think
there's only one Patrick Soutan made in either CD or
George Pickens. It gets a good matchup, and I like
the Dallas Cowboys in this one going all by myself.
It's time forget more with Getko as we stay in
this game, Cynthia, which star receiver is more likely to
score a touchdown?

Speaker 6 (09:31):
Cortland Sutton or CD Lamb.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
Well, I know this is gonna sound crazy, but I'm
actually going with Courtland Sutton in this one. Number one.
You talked about that number two factor, which is the
Pets or Tan situation and the Riley Moss situation, which
for me leads to more of an opportunity for the
end zone for George Pickens or potentially, I don't know,
say a tight end National tight ends day. Perhaps that's
the answer. I just think that the wats or Tan

(09:55):
will be deployed will be to try to shut down
Ceedee Lamb and maybe the jah De Baron breakout moment.
As a rookie that's they drafted this year, he kind
of lines up in an area where SE runs a lot,
so I think there's been a lot ask of him,
But for me, Courtland Sutton has a better opportunity against
a defense that has been very vulnerable to deep passes.

Speaker 6 (10:12):
I am very vulnerable to particular storylines.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
This is the Javonte Williams revenge game. He and JK
Dobbins both averaging about five yards to carry, which one
of those guys Greg is more likely to rush.

Speaker 6 (10:24):
For over sixteen.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
This is a layup Davante Williams not only in the
revenge game, but he's just running through tacklers week after week.
The offensive line is making big holes for him, but
it's the yards after contact which have been so impressive.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
Plus, you know he's the guy.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
I mean, if we could go back to training camp
and tell all the fantasy owners out there that it's
just Davante all the time in the Cowboys backfield, he
would have been drafted so high. Meanwhile, I know it's
been heavy JK Dobbins lately, but if you told me
that it's a Harvey week, yep.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
For the Bronco exactly what it could be? A Tyler
Batty week? Here is it?

Speaker 3 (10:59):
But day I don't even know he changed sometimes in
terms of Harriet You just don't know when it's Sean Payton,
but you know when it's Javonte Williams.

Speaker 5 (11:06):
Yeah, I'm with you on that one. I think that
we saw some RJ. Harvey looks in the red area
last week. That could just mean a little bit more
of an opportunity for Javonta Williams, who is the Lion
share guy like he is there bellcow Back on that team.

Speaker 6 (11:18):
I love this matchup.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
The game also gives us a fun chance to look
back at about a decade plus of Sean Payton to
Dallas rumors. Remember those days, those were fun.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
It was all we know. You started them, Sean Payton.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
You're putting things out suddenly through the media.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
Even then, Well, Gregs, get after shot.

Speaker 6 (11:34):
I love the parties. Just getting started here on game
debut coming up.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
The Eagles passing game on fire last week.

Speaker 6 (11:39):
Don't worry. It wasn't literal. They were just very good.
They got a big rematch with Jackson Dark and the
g Men. Big Blue embarrassed the Birds two weeks ago.
Can they sweep them?

Speaker 4 (11:49):
Find out?

Speaker 6 (11:50):
Well, we're flipping back on game debut.

and the Eagles. Jackson Dart back in MetLife, enjoying the
opportunity on Thursday Night football, Jalen Carter reportedly not playing

(12:36):
because of.

Speaker 6 (12:36):
The turf, and here's how the scoring started for the
g Men.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
It's a nineteen yard touchdown run by Jackson Dart at
his first hug of the night from Brian day Ball.
As Jalen Hurts and the Eagles saw themselves down ten
in the fourth quarter, Cardile Flott jumps the route in
front of Johan Dotson.

Speaker 6 (12:53):
And takes it all the way back. They had a
red zone.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
Opportunity that got turned into a red zone opportunity for
the g Men, first interception in three hundred and five
regular season attempts, four hurts, and then Cam Scattabou finishes
it off. That ten point lead grows even farther. His
legend grows as he does a backflip.

Speaker 6 (13:12):
He would take his shirt.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Off in the postgame interview and Aj and Devanta not
feeling great about the game.

Speaker 6 (13:17):
They've got a chance for a rematch.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
As it's time for Seas the Season presented by Caesar
Sportsbook just a couple weeks later. As we're gonna look
at the first touchdown score on It's according to our
friends at Caesar, Saquon and Jalen Hurts leading the way.
There's Cam Scaltabu ahead of AJ Brown and Dallas Goddard.
A lot of birds on that graphic. A big rematch
between the Birds and.

Speaker 6 (13:40):
The g Men.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
The Giants coming off of the big collapse against the Broncos,
but they could sweep Philly if they get a win.

Speaker 6 (13:46):
Do they get it, Cynthia.

Speaker 5 (13:48):
They haven't done it since two thousand and seven.

Speaker 6 (13:50):
Oh, they're not.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
Going to do it here.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
I'm twenty eight to nineteen for the Eagles in this matchup.
Let's look at Saquon Barkley this year. Let's take a
really good look at it, because he has had games
with fewer than sixty yards now five times that he
only did it twice in all of last season games.
But when you're looking at the opportunity here now last time, Okay,
not a great outing, we get it. But these outside

(14:12):
rushes are still a great spot to target the Giants
if they used the jumbo package like we saw last week,
which they went back to. That was part of what
was so successful against the blitzing Vikings. They go to
the jumbo package and they're going to say, oh no,
we got to drop back in converage. They're going to
throw it like they did Saquon Barkley, We'll run to
the outside. So I think we see a nice Saquon game.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
You got me thinking about those two thousand and seven Giants.
They would go on to win the Super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
That's right.

Speaker 6 (14:39):
And you know what, I'm not taking the Giants to
win this game.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
I've got them winning the Eagles, dude, twenty four to seventeen,
just based on what they are able to do on offense.
We saw the confidence from Jalen Hurts in the passing game.
Remember this pass attempt to the Vonza Smith that was
actually Jalen hurts lone deep pass miss against the Giants.
He was five for five against the Minnesota Vikings on

(15:05):
deep pass like attempts.

Speaker 6 (15:06):
There's Levonta Smith.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
They can do that, they can throw deep and considering
the recent success even when the offense wasn't playing well, Greg, Yeah,
I think they go deep a lot against the Giants
team that has struggled to stop deep pass.

Speaker 6 (15:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
I am always wary of picking a team to sweep
a division rival, especially if there's a talent in balance.

Speaker 4 (15:24):
And let's just think of who's in this game.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
Who's not You mentioned Jalen Carter is back for the Eagles.
You know who's out for the Giants most likely hasn't
been at practice this week. Paulson Adebo and Javon Holland.
That is a big deal because that is their number
one cornerback and potentially their best safety. And it's a
big drop off for this Giant secondary when Deontay Banks,
their former first round pick.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
Comes in last week.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
That was really when the defense started to fall apart.
And sometimes it's about who is on the field. And
if you think back to that game, Lannon Dickerson, the
great Eagles guard.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
Was also not on the field for that game.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
He looked as good as he's looked all season last
week and Quinion Mitchell got hurt in that game. He's
healthy now too. So with the Giants secondary, look, they
already struggle. And the Giants pass rush didn't get a
lot of heat last week against a good offensive line.
I don't think they will this week. Egles win easy,
all right.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
The season season is brought to you by our friends

Speaker 6 (16:30):
Congratulations to fans of the Baltimore Ravens.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
Also fun quarterbacks Lamar Jackson back at practice this week.
The two time MVP missed the last two games with
the hamstring injury. The Ravens would drop both of those games,
one of them significantly, so Lamar's squad coming off of
the buy. They are playing host to a Bears team
that's won four straight games. Baltimore one to five on
the season. Do they get win number two, Cynthia, They.

Speaker 5 (16:55):
Do get win number two. I think the margin is closer.
So as of right now, everybody looks like they're playing AH.
Be careful of the injury report. That Baltimore is gonna win,
have a two point win twenty seven twenty five. The
one that matters the most, though, Lamar Jackson. If you
want kind of a thing to think about for the future,
potentially think about him as your MVP. I know right
now Patrick Maholmes is the front runner, but if you

(17:18):
believe that the Ravens could potentially make the playoffs, you
have to also believe that it's because Lamar Jackson is
playing lights out, which he has been doing. Look at
how Grady has been on downfield passes. That's an area
where the Bears have given up Oh, I don't know,
just the second most touchdowns. And if you're looking at
the opportunity with play action, also Lamar chreck and remember

(17:38):
he can also run too, So I just think it'd
be fun. Like if you're looking for something where you
get good value and you're kind of relying on one
of the best players, like, why not look at him
as your MVP. Just a thought, just for something to
think about.

Speaker 6 (17:51):
Not just speaking of fun.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
If you are a player, a person without a vested
personal interest in this game, it could be fun. The
Bears have all those explosive plays this season, more explosive
runs than anybody else. Ben Johnson doing a great job.
But I will take the Baltimore Ravens here twenty seven
to twenty six in a highest scoring affair where perhaps
I'm wish casting. I understand that there's a possibility of that.
But the blocking up front, not just for Derrick Henry,

(18:15):
can get better. A Ravens team clearly that is getting
stuffed at the line of the scrimmage almost twenty percent
of the time. They are a better running team with
Lamar back, obviously, marginal improvement by the offensive line and
the defense. Maybe they squeeze out a win against one
of the hottest teams in the league, but it is
very frightening because the Bears are on fireway.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
You know, Patrick is worried when he just gives the
one point Ravens win for his favorite team.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
I think it's gonna be by a little more.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
I got the Ravens by four points, and I think
if you go back and you think the Ravens season
is turning around this week, actually go back to Week
six and look at how that defense played against the
Los Angeles Rams, one of the most efficient offenses in
the league. The Ravens held them down to just a
field goal in the first half of that game. They
made some big plays. They seem to solve a few things.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
They also got a.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Couple players back, and more of them are coming back
this week.

Speaker 4 (19:07):
Let's go through the list.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Brokwan Smith expected to play. Marlon Humphrey is back. Kyle Hamilton,
he was back in that Rams game, helped out big time.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
Nate Wiggins has actually been playing great all season. That's
just on the offense. The defensive side. How about Ronnie.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
Stanley the left tackle coming back along with Lamar Jackson.
The first six weeks of the season never happened.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
One in five. Forget about it.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
The season starts now for the Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl.
They were my pick before the season. Here we come,
We start all over.

Speaker 6 (19:35):
It's like a game. The trouble with the season is
is cumulative those five.

Speaker 4 (19:39):
It doesn't matter, none of it happened. Oh it's gonna matter.

Speaker 6 (19:42):
As we go to the math. Let's do that math.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Cynthia Caleb Williams passing for more or less than two
hundred and twenty one yards against what reg Seas doesn't
improved Raven Steeples.

Speaker 5 (19:52):
Yeah, I think it's gonna be fewer yards than that
for two reasons. Number one, where the Bears have improved
the most over the past four games and especially the
past two games is in the run game. That's where
Ben Johnson creates these interesting offer tunities. Right, So I
think they're just going to run the ball more often.
Not only will that serve to slow the ball game down,
and I think by the way the Ravens will run

(20:12):
as well, fewer possessions, but I also think that it
will be not as many deep passes. Think of what
Jared Goff does, Think of what happens in those situations.
If they try to blitz all the it's not going
to be necessarily because he runs the ball more than
that's not going to be like a Jared GoF output,
but just fewer yards in that because of the game
plan to leverage the ground.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
I also think the Ravens have shown a great ability
to come out of the bus playing well.

Speaker 4 (20:36):
Yes, they've won a lot of games.

Speaker 5 (20:37):
Still going on with my Lamar Jackson situation for MVP.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
And they fixed out the problems that they have. Think
about the situation with where Kyle Hamilton was at a
year ago. They've had two weeks to get ready for
this game and it fell under the radar. But Caleb
Williams is coming off one of the worst games of
his career last week. Their passing attack was lost against
the Saints, so I do not trust him on a
week week basis.

Speaker 6 (20:58):
All Right, we'll see.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
We saw CJ straut look great against the Ravens a
few weeks so still to come there. Despite all the injury,
CNC and the Niners had raced out to a five
and two start.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
They got a big matchup down in Houston. Is Kyle
Shanahan squad need to.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
Be an Upsett alert?

Speaker 6 (21:13):
One of us thinks they do. We'll tell you who
coming up next. On game debut.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Christian McCaffrey has carried the load tonight that he stands
behind Matt Jones.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
Jones takes agains, Christian touching up inside back pen leagues.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
White plushy pushhape, push eck. They out a man run
up front for the Niners tonight. Huh, touchdown, maybe not
put it away?

Speaker 2 (21:49):
San Francisco, It's time for the Reid presented by Microsoft
co Pilot.

Speaker 6 (21:54):
Microsoft co Pilot, your.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
AI companion for NFL game day and every day we
ask co Pilot for the top three matchups to watch
in the Niners Sexans game.

Speaker 6 (22:03):
Stopping cmcnumber one.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
The case for every defense to play San Francisco, Mac
Jones gets an aggressive Houston pass rush, and the coaching
connection between Kyle Shanahan and Demico Ryans.

Speaker 6 (22:13):
Let's discuss this.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
Game a little bit more than Niners shut down the
Falcons last week in Santa Clara. Meanwhile, at two and four,
Houston is in must win mode.

Speaker 6 (22:21):
How does this play out? Greg?

Speaker 3 (22:23):
I think it plays out like a lot of Texans games,
very low scoring. I have the forty nine Ers defense
really carrying the load here. Twenty to sixteen is what
I like. And it's this no name defense that has
been playing with so much spirit over the last few weeks.
You lose Nick Bosa, you lose Fred Warner, and they
have been absolutely fantastic. Anyways, it is a coaching matchup

(22:46):
that I really love to watch. You also have to
love what Christian McCaffrey has been doing last week on
the ground, they were finally efficient. Like I know, he's
had a lot of volume numbers and he's the most
valuable receiving back in the league, but the way that
they were able to compliment the good defense with an efficient,
funning game, they were getting a lot of more of
those five six seven yard carries.

Speaker 4 (23:08):

Speaker 6 (23:09):
I'm going with a lower scoring game than you, Greg.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
I've got eighteen to thirteen San Francisco winning, which also
resembles the year that it looks like Texans offense comes
from the Niners score goes down a little bit because
of familiator from the staff.

Speaker 6 (23:24):
The Texans score maybe like if you take.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
The Ravens game out, they've got the third lowest success
rate in the league. I know that Seattle has a
very good defense and they were playing on the road,
but it just looked disjointed, bad, weird decisions from Houston
where I just don't feel comfortable picking them to win
a game at this point, especially not against the five
and two very good despite the injuries forty nine Ers teams.

Speaker 5 (23:47):
Cnthia, this is one where my model it makes me
feel like, but I do have Houston winning this game
by two points. Give me that five number twenty one
to nineteen, I will say, Bryce, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 6 (24:01):
So they feels about the model Ers.

Speaker 5 (24:03):
That's how I feel about it. That's pretty much dead.
I feel dead. But part of it is because Bryce
hoff is no longer going to be playing in this
game for the San Francisco defense, And part of it
is because Jake Brendle is also not there. And you
know what happens when your old line gets not as
good as normal.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
Cooper cup throws the pass for an interception.

Speaker 5 (24:20):
Yep, Cooper Cuple throw the pass for the somehow Cooper
Couple get his way all the way traded to Houston
in time to throw a pick against them. But look,
it's really the ability of this Texans defense to exact pressure.
There are just tipping points that happen when it comes
to injuries. I thought we were already there with the Niners,
but Christian McCaffrey in is one hundred and eighty five

(24:41):
touches absolutely bananas. But in this matchup, that defense just
gives Houston a slight edge, especially now that no Brayce hoof.
You have to admit that's got to be that's hard
to overcome. Yeah, eventually, Nick Bosa already.

Speaker 6 (24:56):
Eventually the amount of injury.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
Without Fred Warner, You guys, maybe when you play like
a real offense that wasn't eighteen thirteen.

Speaker 5 (25:04):
If he has a ton of time to work with.
We've seen CJ. Stroud be effective.

Speaker 4 (25:08):
He's great. It's everything else.

Speaker 6 (25:10):
Yeah, there's a lot going on.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
The game is expected to be one of the lowest
scoring fine of the weekend.

Speaker 5 (25:15):
Week helped me out here, Houston people.

Speaker 6 (25:16):
Yeah, we'll see if that number comes through.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Let's check out the rest of the projected lowest scoring totals.
According to our friends at Caesars, it's like that old
Baker Mayfield commercial where he's staying there. The Browns live
on this particular graphic. They're there with the Patriots.

Speaker 5 (25:31):
Defense.

Speaker 6 (25:31):
The total is forty and a half. Exam in the
offensive so much.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
That's Finns, Falcons, Packers, Steelers at forty five and a half.
As we get to the it's time for the two
minute drill, presented by the Wells Fargo Active Cash credit Card.
Let's make some quick picks here. In week eight, the
Bucks and Saints in the five fourth. Tampa's coming off
a disappointing loss in the Lions on Monday night.

Speaker 6 (25:54):
Does Baker's squad announce back?

Speaker 3 (25:56):
Greg, I'm going to New Orleans this weekend and they
are going to have a spirited effort in a one
point loss, So you know they're christ We lost four
and a half. Yeah, the Bucks are gonna win because
only one wide receiver, only one player in this game
is under one hundred and fifty pounds. Baker Mayfield revealed
that Tedes Johnson, who has been a complete receiver across

(26:17):
the field, great hands, explosive, is playing at one hundred
and forty two pounds.

Speaker 4 (26:22):
I feel like this is.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
One of the most underrated stories in all of sports.
He is breaking the boundary. Everyone wants to go crazy
about Victor Webbin Yama. Wow, a guy that big doing
things we've never seen. We have never seen one hundred
and forty two pounds man putting up touchdowns in the NFL.
Let's go Ted Johnson, just letting all the skinny guys
out there have a little bit of a dream.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
Yeah, shout out to the folks who are not dipping
the scales in any capacity.

Speaker 6 (26:49):
You know, he's dipping the scales for the team. The
red hot Browns. Not the red hot Browns. The Patriots
are red hot. New England's won four straight. Did they
may get five? In Roal Cynthia against the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 4 (26:58):
They do.

Speaker 5 (26:59):
But just my six points. I don't even know how
to deal with this right now because thinking about all
of the things Greg said. But I have a six
point win because of Drake May. Because Drake May is
doing things through the air that he almost shouldn't be.
If you look at just his tight window situation, he
has the highest completion percentage on tight window passes. So
when the receiver has one yard or less of separation,

(27:21):
it's sixty two point five percent. That's fourteen and a
half percentage points higher than the next closest guy.

Speaker 4 (27:26):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (27:26):
So despite how great this Cleveland defense is, and it
absolutely is, that just shouldn't be happening, and yet it
still is. So I think Drake May gives them in.
She's just that army.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Yeah, you confident, And Greg and I have the same
exact score that Brown's defense scariness here.

Speaker 5 (27:43):
Oh we obviously explained.

Speaker 4 (27:44):
Oh number, we're having it well under that we win.

Speaker 5 (27:47):
That's interesting.

Speaker 2 (27:48):
Oh, none of the Bills and Panthers Andy Dalton expected
to start for the injured Bryce Young.

Speaker 6 (27:51):
Buffalo has lost to in a row.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
But I think they win a close one here by
a score of nineteen to seventeen, the Panthers defense vastly
improved and the Bills have had some trouble separating on offense.
Me And while the Bills defense is getting too much
separation when it comes to the opposing running backs, and
they play one of the more persistent rushing attacks in
the league, the Bills giving up a higher percentage of
explosive runs than anyone. I think that's enough for the

(28:18):
Andy Dalton led Panthers to keep this one a little
bit closer when we come back. Nobody wants to play
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs right now. They've won four
of their last five. They've got Marcus Mariota coming in
on Monday night. Mike the backup provide a new and
different opportunity to attack KC.

Speaker 6 (28:37):
We'll see if somebody.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
Makes that case.

Speaker 6 (28:38):
When we come back on game debut. They bring it
back around and they toss it to him.

Speaker 5 (28:54):
It's Rice cutting too, and he's in the ze for
a touchdown. Mahomes down the middle and hey Wood were
the touchdown.

Speaker 6 (29:10):
Book's leftos.

Speaker 7 (29:11):
Then it has couched by Rice for a second touchdown.

Speaker 4 (29:15):
Of the game. This is why they're so difficult.

Speaker 6 (29:22):
Everybody's gotta eat.

Speaker 2 (29:25):
Some for Once Ahead, presented by Credit One Bank, The
Commanders and Chiefs Monday Night in Arrowhead. Jaden Daniels is
out with a hamstring injury, so Marcus Mariota will start.
Does Mariota find a way to keep it close?

Speaker 5 (29:37):
Cynthia to seventeen in the City, it's been closer two touchdowns.
It's not a pick against Washington or Mariota for that matter.
It's a pick for what Patrick Mahomes has been able
to do. And what we're seeing now is just him
dealing to so many different receivers. They finally have their guys,

(29:59):
like we're without Rashid Rice to begin the season, if
you're Worthy for some points too, and now they're just
doing a lot of different things. But I want to
point out how they can spread the field horizontally now
in addition to vertically. So you've got speed with Worthy,
but then you have Juju smiths Uss You're just like
kind of everywhere and Hollywood Brown like kind of everywhere else.
So ultimately you're not only seeing things vertically enhanced for them,

(30:21):
but also horizontally, so they're getting to play true Patrick
Mahomes style football, which is like I don't know whose
lead receiver is going to be. It doesn't matter, but
you just know it's going to be deadly from literally
any arm angle.

Speaker 4 (30:33):
You know who is loving this traviss.

Speaker 5 (30:35):
My mom, oh my mom my mom loves it.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
Like Travis Kelce, who just you know, is watching all
these speed receivers throw Taekwon Thornton in and then he
has all this open space. Who else loves it is
Chris Jones. Like in this Chiefs defense, because they're never
on the field. They played about twenty to thirty snaps
last week. You watched Kelsey especially last week in that
game where you did see Brown receive Rice and Xavier
Worthy on the field for the first time, and he

(30:58):
just had so much open space. Now opposing defenses are
having to pick their poison, and I think it's just like, okay,
we'll just let Travis kelcey go down the field. And
then you think about this matchup in particular, the Washington
Commanders linebackers, Bobby Wagner in particular, not great in coverage,
not great against opposing tight ends. And so I think

(31:18):
you're going to see Travis Kelce get back to the
production that used to have him getting picked so high
in fantasy drafts.

Speaker 4 (31:25):
He could be that dude the rest of the season.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
Yeah, the Chiefs offense fully operational. I know, folks, myself
included concerns about the ability to run the ball. Ultimately
doesn't matter. They're still gonna score points. I got a
win in twenty eight to seventeen, but o't on the
other side. Yes, memus away you spectacular children. But I
am starting to feel a scary familiar feeling. And I
might need you guys to talk back off the ledge
here because I'm thinking about the old Kingsbury cliff. Oh

(31:50):
you lackis in Arizona. There was concerns last year about it.
There's questions that Dan Quinn as the Commander's offense started
slowing down. We think about how the second half of
those seasons went, especially once things ended. Yes, I know
there were a couple of seasons where Kyler got hurt.

Speaker 6 (32:06):
But it's just am I wrong to be concerned.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
I'm more worried about the cliff. The defense is falling
off because the offense. Jayden hasn't been healthy, the receivers
haven't been healthy, but the defense. Sometimes age can be
a cliff, and that is one of the oldest defenses.

Speaker 4 (32:22):
In the league.

Speaker 5 (32:22):
Is there some like Patrick Mahomes reverse Jinx Mode, kings Bear.

Speaker 4 (32:27):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (32:28):
I'm just thinking maybe we need to go back to college.
I don't know, maybe we're sport.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
It's a revenge game against Mariota for that time he
took the Chiefs out of the playoffs by throwing a
touchdown to himself.

Speaker 6 (32:38):
So himself.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
Speaking of the Chiefs sailing into Week one, they had
the fourth best odds to win the Super Bowl. Now
they're the favorites because everybody doubted and disrespected them, and
as the super Bowl favorites, these are the week one
versus Week eight Super Bowl odd To see the change
there is the Ravens about a significant fall off, the
Chiefs going up, as well as those Detroit Lions on

(32:59):
their way. It's time for make the case the fields.
The Ravens, the Eagles were the preseasons, but.

Speaker 6 (33:04):
That's why we play the games.

Speaker 2 (33:06):
Greg Josh Allen's Bills have shown some weaknesses, make the
case for why they can still win it all.

Speaker 3 (33:11):
Because the team that looks the best in Week seven
is almost never the team and the team that sometimes
you never see coming, like the twenty three Chiefs, for instance,
is the one that breaks through and gets a Super Bowl.
This Josh Allen team with a great offensive line like
the twenty two Chiefs, like the twenty three Chiefs. That's

(33:32):
the number one recipe to go win a Super Bowl.
A great offensive line and a transcendent quarterback. The defensive
problems are real, but they have a running game. And
what I've seen from Sean McDermott and Brandon Bean over
the years is that they self diagnose and they improve
on defense very often throughout the course of the season.

(33:52):
So this Bill team has lulls very often during regular season,
but they figure it out. And more than anything, my
argument is built on the fact that they play in
the American Football Conference. I know the Chiefs are there
and they're the bugaboo, but like it is not nearly
as deep. I do not think it's going to be
as big a gauntlet to get through the AFC.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
All right, So let's go to the NFC because Cinthy,
you originally picked the Eagles to make it back into the.

Speaker 5 (34:13):
Big right, but I picked the Bills to win. Just
want to be clear, But.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
Let's make the case for the Eagles getting back to
the Super.

Speaker 6 (34:19):
Bowl once again.

Speaker 5 (34:19):
Well, first of all, if you looked at that cute
little board that we put up there, the number was
very tasty for them as well, just so we're clear
on that. But I'm looking at everything that's going on
with this offense and despite pretty much every Eagles fan
I know want and Kevin Botulo out of their situation,
I don't think the players do. I mean, if you
saw what happened last week against the Vikings, the Vikings

(34:42):
were like, we will not let Saquon Barkley win this game.
We will not let him because we're going to challenge
Jalen Hurts to throw it deep to Devontae Smith, to
AJ Brown, maybe to Javonte Smith again. And you know
what happened.

Speaker 6 (34:53):
They didn't miss.

Speaker 5 (34:54):
He didn't miss. He two hundred and fifteen yards, his
most undep passes in his career in a game. So
I think this offense will get even better as a
season goes on. It's not dissimilar to last season for me.
And you made the case about the AFC. To me,
I'm looking at the NFC and saying the value of
that soul buy is going to be so valuable. And

(35:14):
I think the fact that the Eagles are most likely
to get. That buy drives them to have better chances
to get to and then you know, ultimately potentially win
the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
For me, the third year in a row, I picked
the Baltimore Ravens to win the Super Bowl. Did I
foresee them starting the season at one in five? No,
A lot of people didn't the overall favorite. But they
do have a viable path to win it all. They
have the twenty third oh easiest remaining schedule and thanks
to Joe Flacco, picked up a half game full of
Steelers during the bye.

Speaker 6 (35:42):
And look at this. This is Lamar Jackson passing the
ball on play action this season. You think it's good.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
He's completing ninety one percent of his passes when the
Baltimore Ravens run play action.

Speaker 6 (35:53):
Cynthia's making a case for the win the MVP. I
think you can make that kank you from the Jackson
to win the MVP. He is an exceedingly valuable player.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
And if they get something something figured out on the
offensive line and on defense, yeah, I don't think it's
out of the rebel possibility they could get back.

Speaker 5 (36:10):
In contention, I don't get a chance to use my
banker words a lot anymore. But by the dip, by
the dip, let's figure it out.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
Our friend out of rank would always say that that
used to be his job when he was working for
a minor league baseball team. Still to come, Danny Dimes
and the Colts offense is humming in about a thousand horsepower.
No chance they stumble against the Titans, right right.

Speaker 6 (36:33):
Our picks for Titans, Colts.

Speaker 4 (36:35):
And the rest.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
So the weekend Slave coming up next on game debut.

Speaker 6 (36:51):
He has a hat trick. Maphew's got fine running around.
I'm fooling around burning the ground.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
Excitement's got a hole on the Prefshie Rush in easy
Mac made weird.

Speaker 6 (37:05):
Should I do a free?

Speaker 2 (37:08):
There's Chasey Suzy Chance.

Speaker 6 (37:12):
Viition is asc This is a victory.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
Slaverer, Doctor Iant Denver scores thirty three.

Speaker 6 (37:28):
Points in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 4 (37:30):
This is a say of victory.

Speaker 2 (37:36):

Speaker 2 (37:59):
Time for quick picks here on game debut, will go
to the AFC South, the Titans and the Cold And
he lit up the Chargers for thirty eight points last week.
Do they put up a fifty pointer on the division
rival greug No?

Speaker 3 (38:10):
Another forty burger for the second time this season against
this same team, the Tennessee Titans, because they got all
their offensive weapons. Josh Downs is back this week. Alec
Pierce came back last week. I love the volume. This
is Patrick's dude, But I get to talk.

Speaker 4 (38:23):
About him this week. Everyone should be talking about him.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
Haven't you ever just like looked at old Pro football
reference pages and thought that was a cool sport back
when Lance Alworth was catching like thirty five passes for
nine hundred yards. Wow, what must football look like a
Raymond Berry forty catches for eight hundred and fifty yards.
That's what Alec Pierce is doing week after week. He's
not the leader in yards per catch this year, but

(38:47):
he's still at like twenty yards per catch.

Speaker 4 (38:50):
He's old school. He's a deep threat.

Speaker 5 (38:52):
I thought you didn't like divisional matchups in a rematch.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
To swite, don't try to use the words I said
earlier today on our NFL Daily podcast where we have
this show too. I said it here too. Get the sweep.
It's tough to blow. But this is a unique case
and it's the worst team in the league against the best.

Speaker 5 (39:08):
Jillie Weeks, we all kind of agree, and.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
More targets for Alec Pears is why he's not leading
in yards for catch it any more.

Speaker 4 (39:13):
He's still nineteen point eight. That's amazing.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
It's big. He's number two. He's all the way down
to number two, all the way. Dolphins and Falcons in Atlanta.
Great vibes coming out of Miami lately, Cynthia, what happens
in the.

Speaker 5 (39:23):
Football Well, but Jean Robinson happens in the football game,
and eight point win is what I have in this matchup.
It could be even bigger, but all you need is
to make it eight.

Speaker 4 (39:32):
There you go.

Speaker 5 (39:32):
Then it kind of tells you everything you need to know.
But the way Jon Robinson has been handling defensive mayhem
has been really, really spectacular. If you look at his
ability to just diagnose any flaw in a defense and
exploit it. That's why you're watching all this Bills fill right,
it was just a massive In an alternate universe, He's

(39:53):
probably still running on a Bill's defense. It's gonna do
the same thing against the Miami defense that has been
extremely vulnerable to their run. So Fijon, Fijon, Blomore, bes On,
whichever you want to call it, Bijeon Bejeon all of
it for him this week.

Speaker 2 (40:07):
Yeah, probably some Tyler ELL's here as well.

Speaker 6 (40:10):
In that game.

Speaker 2 (40:11):
Let's go to the Jets and Bengals in Cincinnati. Joe
Flacco revenge game of a possible five. Joe Flacco some
revenge games. I think he gets it.

Speaker 6 (40:18):
In this one. The Bengals went it twenty three.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
To eleven, and we get to see more of Joe
Flacco operating.

Speaker 6 (40:24):
Under center, like this pass to T Higgins.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
They were really successful when they did it, and I
think that success allowed them to be more successful in
the shotgun as well. He started two games this season
for Cincinnati. He has two positive EPA.

Speaker 6 (40:36):
Games this season.

Speaker 2 (40:37):
That's infinitely more than the zero that he had in Cleveland.

Speaker 6 (40:41):
Joe Flacco looks great.

Speaker 2 (40:43):
He's having fun, Like Candid conversations about eating by himself
and restaurants.

Speaker 6 (40:47):
Just all the lands are coming up Flacco.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
Right now, guys shout out to the total lack of
effort on that first t Higgins touchdowns by the Steelers.

Speaker 4 (40:55):
Secondary.

Speaker 3 (40:56):
Wow, something to watch for, just something to think about.
Maybe coming up and write this down.

Speaker 6 (41:01):
Greg is putting the microscope. He's getting in deep on that.

Speaker 3 (41:04):
Steelers keep jogging over there watching him go in. I'm sure,
I'm sure they talked about it.

Speaker 4 (41:09):
I am sure that.

Speaker 5 (41:10):
Let's go pro Joe. We love Joe. That one positive note.

Speaker 6 (41:14):
We come back. It's our favorite time of the weekest
time for write this down.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
We're gonna you our favorite player props for the weekend.

Speaker 6 (41:21):
Greg has a real banger. In fact, he just tastes it.
He's gonna say a team's not trying hard.

Speaker 4 (41:29):
On that play. They were not trying hard, not trying
hard enough.

Speaker 6 (41:34):
We're back in NFL Game Day morning is back. Jordan
rich Eisen, Kurt Warner, Cynthia Freeland.

Speaker 2 (41:39):
And the rest of the team as they get you
ready for kickoff. Kyle Brant sits down with Baker Mayfield
as he looks to get back in the win column.

Speaker 6 (41:46):
Plus our Trick or Treat Halloween segment.

Speaker 4 (41:49):
The crew.

Speaker 2 (41:49):
The crew separates the contenders from the pretenders.

Speaker 6 (41:53):
That's Sunday, nine am Eastern on NFL Network. I love
all those upper torsos there.

Speaker 5 (41:58):
On that glad to find out what we're talking about.
I don't know about this church treat segment.

Speaker 6 (42:02):
Okay, ready for it.

Speaker 2 (42:03):
Okay write that down the sound for these folks to
write down our player prop oadictions for a week eight.

Speaker 6 (42:09):
Start us off, Greg, I know you're excited.

Speaker 3 (42:10):
I'm on a one game winning streak after Ladnaconki.

Speaker 4 (42:13):
Went a yard and a half over for me.

Speaker 3 (42:15):
Sometimes you feel really confident in a particular side, in
a particular team. I think the Green Bay Packers go
over twenty three and a half point I got on
the Steelers. It's not really about the effort. It's more
about the age in the secondary and the mismatches in
terms of the offensive innovation Matt Leclair is going to
bring to the table against Mike Tomlin and this defense.

(42:36):
I think it's a great offensive day for the Packers.
Way over twenty three and a half. They might do thirty.
If you can make an alternate universe.

Speaker 5 (42:43):
Line, well, I'm gonna go with the National tight End
Day theme and talk about Tyler Warren, who has the
most receiving yards among all tight ends, not just rookies.
I'm not sure if he was even born for the
first National tight End just kidding. In story history, he
was there, so I think he's gonna end up in
the end zone in this one against the Titans.

Speaker 2 (42:59):
Yeah, the National Titan Day never really discussed, and we
won't hear it discussed on Sunday, but I do.

Speaker 6 (43:06):
Think I have a tight end having a successful day.

Speaker 2 (43:09):
Evan Ingram getting more than thirty receiving yards against the
Dallas Cowboys. I know Greg hears me in his head
anytime we talk about a number, saying that that number
is encouraged to get action.

Speaker 6 (43:20):
Well, they got me.

Speaker 2 (43:22):
Thirty number feels very low against this Evra flu s
led defense that I know has some positivity coming off
of last week. I don't know if they keep evaning
under thirty yards. And thanks for spending thirty or so
minutes with us. For Cynthia Freeland and Greg Rosenhal, I'm
Patrick Claibon.

Speaker 6 (43:37):
Thank you for watching game debut.

Speaker 2 (43:39):
Enjoy the games this week and we'll see you next week.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
