Speaker 1 (00:04):
NFL Game Deview is a production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Everybody, Welcome to Game Day you Patrick Claybon back here
with Greg Rosenhalt and Cynthia Freeland. Week two is upon us,
and we gotta do better at our picks. Good.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Yeah, it's like, oh, it's a new season. Everything's crazy,
We're starting all over and then oh, the predictable picks.
Queen just back on top, Thirs.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
No, it's predictable that you would beat us. That's the predictable.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Yes, that's what I mean. That's what I mean. Wow,
it's a compliment.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
I felt like I just was catching as stray there
straight back, Niche.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Would you like to see photographic evidence that Cynthia is
ahead of us? There? It is eleven and five in
week one with the crown, No actual crown today. We
save that again for the end of the year when
Cynthia predictably beats it.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
There is an asterisk. Though I don't accept the results
of the Ravens Bills games, Ravens actually wear the right pick.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
That is a fictional universe where I would like to
also reside Cynthia's leading me. I'm good can be attributed
in part to that game, including some other fourth quarter comebacks.
In prime to this week's game of the week is
a Super Bowl rematch Eagles and Chiefs rematch in Arrowheads Sunday,
Casey coming off a lost Week one to the Chargers,
Andy Reid's squad in danger of starting zero to two. Greg,
(01:17):
does that happen?
Speaker 3 (01:18):
It does not. I have sat in this chair so
many times over the years when the Chiefs are looking
vulnerable and oh they're a home underdog because of various
reasons why it's not coming together, and I pick against him,
and I get it wrong. I'm not making that mistake
because Patrick Mahomes did what we asked him to do
in Week one, which is bring back the explosive Patrick Mahomes,
(01:39):
the fun Patrick Mahomes, the big game hunting Patrick Mahomes.
You see the special plays with him on the run,
you see all the scrambling, you even see some deep shots.
And so if you tell me you got the best
quarterback on Earth in a game that he absolutely needs
to win, I feel like this happens a lot where
you get the playoff loss and everyone talks about revenge.
(02:01):
It doesn't really matter if you get that regular season,
but in this case, it's like how the Bills beat
the Chiefs. Always in the regular season, the Chiefs get
a little bit of revenge with the win. This week,
I have just.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
A little bit of revenge also.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
Twenty three to twenty two, just a one point win
for the Chiefs at home. But like you said, they're underdogs,
So I think this is a really fascinating matchup for
a lot of reasons. But let's talk about Hollywood Brown
for a second, because he's basically kind of the only.
Speaker 5 (02:26):
Thing left in that amongst the wide receivers.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
There's a lot of injuries on available players. But when
I'm looking at his ability to connect with Patrick Mahomes
on the deep ball, I do think that comes back.
Speaker 5 (02:37):
But what's different in this game, Well.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
I think they just roll out more twelve personnel, so
they go back to the heavier tight end formations to
keep that front away from Patrick Mahomes. I think their
run game has a little bit of an uptick this game,
and then that leads to more deep passes. We're going
to see that. You talk about the fun Patrick Mahomes.
I miss those deep touchdown passes. It wasn't because of
Tyreek Hill. It it was because of a lot of
other things. So let's just get those deep Hollywood Brown
(03:00):
in the end zone, deep pass, Let's go.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
I also have a close game, but I have the
team that beat the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl,
winning twenty seven to twenty five. These teams have played
some great games. I know the Kansas City Chiefs would
like revenge. The Eagles could get revenge for the game
that they lost a few years ago. Jalen Hurts still
has that as his lock screen. So again, I think
both teams will try hard here, but I want to
look back to that Super Bowl where Kansas City was
(03:23):
able to hold Saquon Barkley to just fifty seven yards
on the ground. They say you have to pick a poison.
The poison that they picked was the one that got
them beat as Stags of Squad saw Devanta and aj
Brown get into the end zone and that one Jalen
Hurts had a plus twelve completion percentage over expected, was
only pressured seven times in that game. Yes, the guy
(03:44):
who called that game is now coaching in New Orleans,
but the folks who executed that game plan again, which
wasn't that long ago, remain in Philly. So I right
will proudly take the stray bond here and go with
the Super Bowl champs from a Super Bowl rematch to
a division rivalry. The Jets saw the Steelers come back
to win in Week one, and we all saw the
Buffalo Bills come back from down fifteen in the fourth
(04:05):
quarter last Sunday. Alan fires down the left side.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
He's got pullner at the forty and out of bounds at.
Speaker 6 (04:14):
The forty thirty five in Baltimore Territory. Wow, want to
play Josh with a frozen rope thirty two yards?
Speaker 7 (04:26):
It's a snap back to pass blitz coming.
Speaker 6 (04:28):
Alan completes a COVID cuts it back at the twenty,
tripped up at.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
The ten yard line. Oh, we thought he was headed
to the end zone.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Down to three seconds.
Speaker 7 (04:38):
Here's the snap, hold his.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Down kick on the way and it is good.
Speaker 6 (04:43):
And Matt Prater, in his first game as a Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Bill, has won the.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Ball game here in week one, not just down fifteen
to the fourth quarter, down fifteen with just four minutes
Togo last week. Now they had to met life to
take on Justin Fields. I will take the Buffalo Bills
to sneak out a narrow twenty eight to twenty six
win in this one. I think the Jets play a
little better than expected, but it's just so difficult to
(05:09):
deal with Josh Allen, especially when you look at this
Bill's offensive line. The Jets defense did get the Aaron
Rodgers a few times, but not enough in that shootout,
and the Baltimore Ravens brought what they could again in
a fourth quarter where the defense was on the field
a lot just trying to pressure Josh Allen. It's tough
enough to get past the offensive line, but then when
(05:29):
you do, you have to actually get Josh Allen to
the ground. It's very, very difficult. I don't know if
the Jets are there. I've got the Bills winning by two.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
You have a two point win for the Bills, so
you're kind of on the Bills. I'm very, very much
in favor of the Bills here. Twenty eight to twenty
is my final score.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
That's a big win.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
After playing such an emotional game, and then the next
week people have talked about being tired, but I'm looking
at this Bill's defense and I'm thinking Bobby Babbage is
going to have a solution for our run defense that
was vulnerable.
Speaker 5 (05:57):
Let's just let's put that nice.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
It's nice.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
Yeah, I don't as I thought Bresall looks great in
week one, Budd, he's not Derek Henry, let's just put
it that way. I thought Justin Fields looked exceptional in
week one, but he's not quite Lamar Jackson yet. Oh, Greg,
just pitch poshing me.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
I feel like she has seen what I'm gonna do,
and she's doing like oppo research time.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
I'm just inceptioning you and going and figuring out what
to do. But ultimately, what I'm talking about in this
one is I think that the run game for the
Bills is better, and therefore it nullifies a lot of
that run defense being of vulnerability because it puts the
game script in a situation where the Jets are going
to have to throw the foot.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
Okay, they saved the best for last when it came
to these picks. The best, Yeah, in terms of the
most exciting pick, and that's taking a six to win
the game.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
And what does that make?
Speaker 3 (06:45):
This? What your picking makes it? A just Greg?
Speaker 5 (06:48):
That's what it makes and just Greg's did how well
last week?
Speaker 3 (06:50):
They went? Want to know, let's go just dregnation. What
happened with prime numbers? Where you were on an island?
You went four and oh a week ago.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
You tried to beat me with the stat He asked
our researcher ahead of the show, what was the number
for we were and he's like, thinking, he's gonna be
out percentage.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
Me doesn't matter, they're both. I'm gonna stay at one
hundred percent this week because look, I said, you saved
the best for last. Sometimes you go with your best stuff.
First first play of the game last week, Jets and
Bills tone setter, I believe in omens for a season.
Literally the first st half of the game against the
vaunted Pittsburgh Steelers defense, eighteen yards for Breese Hall. And
(07:27):
what I want you to do not just look at
this beautiful blocking. They were in sync all day, these
young offensive linemen. Let's look at the sideline and Aaron
Glentnon sat in the tone flexen on him after the
very first play of the season, and then they continued
it all day. One hundred and eighty two yards against
a great defense. The Bill's rush defense gave up over
two hundred yards. So I'm looking at this line during
(07:48):
the weekend at some points at six and seven, and
let's go for the Jets to just win this game
this week straight out, just Greg.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Gregor six to seventh as well. The Jets lost last
week to Aaron Rodgers and his new team, the Steelers.
A Ron came out out firing for Pittsburgh.
Speaker 7 (08:07):
Stops play action pass Rogers rolling, He fires.
Speaker 6 (08:09):
Underneath right up in is scronic be Pittskeronick?
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Is it for the score?
Speaker 6 (08:15):
Rogers the skeronic opening drive touchdown. The Steelers did not
have a single opening drive touchdown last year.
Speaker 8 (08:25):
Rogers under center, play action pass, rolling to his right,
fires off.
Speaker 6 (08:28):
The back Aston touchdown. Pittsburgh Steelers the play action pass.
He gets Austin in the right portion of the end
zone for the touchdown.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Rogers had four touchdowns in a Steelers' debut. Pittsburgh now
plays host to Sam Darnold and the Seahawks. Does Sam
get in there and get a win? Cynthia almost oh.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Pittsburgh wins this one by one point. I have twenty
one to twenty in this matchup. I don't like this pairing.
It's very hard on Pittsburgh. What the Seahawks defense does
is a very tough matchup.
Speaker 5 (09:01):
But Aaron Rodgers using play action. We talked about this
match with Arthur Smith, what could happen?
Speaker 4 (09:07):
Oh, just three of us four touchdowns run play action passes.
Speaker 5 (09:10):
That's pretty good. Wouldn't you say that's pretty good?
Speaker 4 (09:12):
That's pretty good, right, especially considering he also took a
bunch of sacks in this game.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
So what happened? They figured it out using play action.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
At the time, Arthur Smith also complimented Aaron Rodgers on
being a leader all of these different things. So I
think things look a little rosie, but it's gonna squeak
it out right at the end.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Just one point, I agree. I have a little bit
of a wider margin. Twenty three to nineteen, a win
for the Steelers. I don't think the Steelers offense will
be as explosive as it was against the Jets because
I Cynthia mentioned the Seahawks defense is a little bit better.
But I do think the defense plays a little better.
My concern is with the Seahawks and the offense. Let's
take a look at some of Sam Darnold's passing attempts
(09:51):
that were not the Jackson Smith and jigm This one
going to Cooper Cup is essentially the totality of the
non JSN yard is as Cooper Cup gets fifteen yards,
eighty two of the Seahawks receiving yards against the San
Francisco forty nine ers went to Jackson Smith Jig. But
they're gonna need to open things up a little bit
(10:11):
more to beat this Steelers defense. And we thought could
be historic coming into the year. They were not in
Week one.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
I think that was literally every single that was.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
The entire that was the whole catalog.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
I'm going Seahawks here, which means I'm on an island
once again, twenty to eighteen. I feel great about it.
Just Greg Nason is coming with me. I think it's
a perfect matchup for the Seahawks to bounce back this
week because Aaron Rodgers struggles with pressure last week. Okay,
he played well, but when they got a little bit
of he I said, he played well, he threw the ball. Well,
(10:46):
there's something you know, you know the stat pressure to
sack ratio, Like when you get pressured, how often do
you end up with a sack? His pressure to sack
ratio was actually one billion last week. I don't know
how that's even mathematically possible. If anyone gets near him,
he's going down. He either gets sacked or he panics.
And I think this is a mismatch up front where
the Steelers offensive line gives up a lot of pressure
(11:08):
on Aaron Rodgers. And oh, by the way, the zone
runs that worked last week, I think they're gonna work
against the Steelers when the Seahawks are running him too.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
We got multiple just Greggs on a ready where Greg
comes in trailing in the standings. We're just getting started
up next, it's JJ McCarthy versus Michael Pennick Junior, a
rematch from the College National Championship two years ago. No
counter stallions in this one were avengel is on the
menu for Pennants. Perhaps more game debut coming up.
Speaker 7 (11:38):
Next, Rush is four McCarthy straight drop to the.
Speaker 8 (11:49):
End zone and touchdown justin Jefferson. McCarthy looks at to
Jones touch do.
Speaker 7 (12:05):
Showtime.
Speaker 8 (12:07):
McCarthy takes off to the right, Stunner stumps at the
five touchdop.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
Pee, Jj McCarthy.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
We're back on game debut. We all love our producer,
hythem and his Bears fan and he has to listen
to three Paul Allen touchdown calls against his team JJ
McCarthy and the Viking's coming off that wild Monday night
comeback versus the Bears. They've got Michael Pennox Junior and
the Falcons coming to town. Here, which young quarterback gets the.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
Win grid Michael Pennix. Well, you know, it's a team game.
It's not just all about the quarterbacks. And yet, if
I had to choose one quarterback to go win me
a ball game right now, it is Michael Pennox. I
think that extra experience that he had with all the
time he had in college and then an extra year
here playing in the NFL where JJ McCarthy was overcoming
an injury, you can see it. I think he's very mature.
(12:59):
You see the early way that they're using John Robinson
as a receiver. You get Darnell Mooney into the mix,
so you're varied. But at the end of this game
against the Buccaneers, where I believe they really thoroughly outplay
played Tampa overall. In this game, Michael Pennox made every
winning play you could possibly want a quarterback to make.
Back in the day when we didn't know as much,
(13:20):
we didn't have computer models like Cynthia has. We would
just go off vibes and we'd be like, this guy's
a gamer, you know this guy's this guy's got it,
this guy's got moxie. And when I look at these
two teams Falcons and Vikings, to me, they don't deserve
to be either two and oh or oho and two.
They both deserve to be one and one. So that's
what's gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
I'm very glad that we're in a day where we
can actually quantify the talent that somebody has. I'm supposed
to say he's.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Got moxie, but he does have something. This guys have
a little bit of.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Mock wants it more. I've got the Falcons winning twenty
to nineteen because yes, like Greg, I agree, playing a
young quarterback and having him experience playing the game of
football you can improve versus watching. I don't think people
get better watching things. I think they get better doing things.
And Michael has demonstrated that he has improved as a
quarterback as time has gone on, and he has He's
(14:10):
demonstrated as well that he loves throwing the ball to
Drake London. I'm excited for this matchup against a Brian
Flores defense. But I really think Todd Bowles and the
Buccaneers did everything they could to slow down the Falcons,
and they did in terms of slowing down the run game.
Michael Penick Junior got involved in that. But if he's
throwing the ball, he has throwing the ball to Drake London.
Last three games, he has forty six targets for Michael
(14:32):
Pennock Junior. He's going to be a big factor in
this game. And I got the Falcons winning a very
close receiver.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
I think it's close.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
But I think that you guys allowing me to have
a prime number on the vikings at home in their
savored Maybe they don't.
Speaker 5 (14:44):
Have emotions like a computer. Who cares.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
I don't care what you guys think. I don't care
when Greg makes fun of me. I like J J McCarthy.
He's got moxie. He's proven it to listen. I don't
know what that means.
Speaker 5 (14:54):
But he's a gamer. Is that what you said?
Speaker 2 (14:56):
We got a quarterboat?
Speaker 3 (14:57):
They both are. I wasn't making fun of you.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
You know, I mean a little bit. It's fine, it's fine.
We're a family here. You can make fun of me.
It's totally bad. Three point win for the Vikings. Listen
Jaj McCarthy's deep touchdown passes. We're both of the two
that changed the game, and he got better throughout the game.
That was something that you want to see from essentially
a rookie. I will agree that you don't get better
watching things, you get better doing things, and he got
(15:22):
better as the game went on. I also think Brian
Flores's defense is going to make things all. The picture
is going to be a lot less clear for Michael
Penix in this matchup.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
So when I'm looking at the Vikings, I think a
field goal win is good.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
This is how we lose Patrick. We give her a
three and a half point home Well.
Speaker 5 (15:38):
I think we just you didn't give it to me.
I chose it. You have the ability to choose free will,
you know.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Very philosophical to say on this vision. If the Vikings
sitting at one to zero in the division, while the
Bears and Lions are now both looking up at win
one tom to see is the season presented by Caesar Sportsbook.
As we get and look at the first team touchdown odds,
excuse me, the first touchdown score odds according to our
friends at Season Sports, Brook Jamier Gibbs, David Montgomery. I'm
(16:07):
on Ross Brown a bear makes it on there, just
DeAndre Swift at plus eight hundred and Sam Laporta at
plus one thousand. Ben Johnson going back to Detroit to
take on his former boss. The loser leads with an
zero to two record. How are we feeling about this?
Speaker 3 (16:22):
Greg nervous for either team because I think the fan
base and the teams are just going to be in
such a dark place. I trust the organizational structure of
the Lions more to figure things out. Win twenty seven
to twenty three, especially on defense, find ways to make
Caleb Williams look erratic in the second half of this game.
(16:43):
I think his bad plays are just a little extra
bad right now. That's all I mean is that he
does so many good things, but early in that game,
when they were really humming, a lot of the wins
were out of structure. And is that really how Ben
Johnson wants to win? I don't think so. Like he'll
take it as a bonus, but I don't think he
wants to be majoring in that. And ultimately, I thought
(17:04):
Caleb gets a little scrambled. This is a big game
on the road. It's going to be a tough atmosphere.
I think it's going to be close, but ultimately the
Lions win.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
I think that the.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
Lines win, and the model says by a bigger amount.
As a Lion fan, my heart is like, let's just
make a close one. Who cares? But the model says
twenty eight to twenty one in this matchup. When I'm
looking at what could be a signal of hope, a
tiny little flare of something to come, the deep passes
still did work.
Speaker 5 (17:32):
Five of eight.
Speaker 4 (17:33):
There weren't a lot of them, but you still saw
when it was possible, Jared.
Speaker 5 (17:37):
Goff still got them out.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
Now.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
Did they get into rhythm? Absolutely not. Did they have
good run metrics? Absolutely not? Did he throw an interception
when targeting? I'm on ros Saint, yes I acknowledge all
of this, But there still were glimmers.
Speaker 5 (17:49):
Of hope with that deep passing game.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
And if the run game can just get a little
bit more solidified in this matchup, then I think we
see a lot of good things to come. A lot
of what Jared Goff does in the passing game comes
off being in unpredictable downs.
Speaker 5 (18:03):
Do you like that catch?
Speaker 3 (18:04):
I mean that was the best catch of the Year
was far Yeah, we've had it too. Had it didn't count.
Speaker 5 (18:08):
I mean it counted, but it didn't have for win.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
Yeah, we are the Tesla shows. I am adding one
point to both teams and will take basically the same
score as Cynthia twenty nine to twenty two. So meme
us away. I am taking the Lions because, like Cynthia,
I think the run game will be a little bit better.
Despite what Jerry Jones thinks, Michael Parsons is a plus
run defender and the Chicago Bears, I don't want to
(18:31):
say they got exposed late against the Minnesota Vikings, but
did you see what Jordan Mason and Aaron Jones were
able to accomplish in the run and pass game big
part of that comeback, and there wasn't much available for
either David Montgomery or Jamiir Gibbs in Lambeau, both on
the air and the ground. I think things go better,
and yes, we are all taking the Detroit Lions to
(18:51):
come back and get a win against their former offensive coordinator.

they roll against your your dear friend and associate Eugene
Cyril Smith.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
Role seems harsh. I think it'll be an offensive game,
lots of points if you're into that sort of thing.
But I do think the Chargers win this game ultimately
because they know how to develop talent. Actually, these two coaches,
Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll, you know what's your deal, bro?
They actually have more in common than you think. Quintin Johnston.
You see him as a third year player and you think, okay,
(19:50):
well that's the same guy that we've seen as a
rookie or as a second year player. And it's like,
no players improve, players develop. Quintin Johnston year three is
not Quintin Johnston year one and two. And actually think
both of these coaching staffs do a great job at
really building up their players and making them confident and
focusing on their strength. And because of that, and now
(20:11):
that Harbroughs in year two with the Chargers, this is
a better group than Justin Herbert has ever had around him.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
Yeah, focusing on strengths is a key part of why
I'm taking the Charges as well, but by a narrow
margin twenty six to twenty five, because looking back, they
passed on sixty six percent of their plays. This is
the third highest in the in the entire Greg Roman
era with the Chargers, and the result was looking at
Justin Herbert just having a lot of fun, making throws
(20:38):
back across his body to the aforementioned Quentin Johnson who's dancing,
and then this was really and looking back, just the
full talent on display, but with the game on the line,
needing to get a first down, look at how much
fun Justin Herbert was having. That's a very saucy slide.
It's just it's so much and so yeah, they've adjusted, adapted,
(21:01):
and I think they get a narrow win against Las.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
Vegas, and I'm looking at the Chargers to also win
in this one. Twenty three to twenty is my final score.
But I want to say, Oh.
Speaker 5 (21:10):
Your kids are so cute.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
I love that with the meal layer.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
But I want to talk about some of the raiders.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
Number One, it's Pete Carroll's birthday for the game, which
is pretty fun, right, Maybe there'll be some fireworks because
of that. And two, I want to talk about what
happens when they use twelve personnel. Last week, oh, just
eight point eight yards per play, Gino was dealing, you're.
Speaker 5 (21:27):
Gonna see these tight ends.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
So some combination of obviously Rock Bowers of obviously Michael
Mayer and then Ian Thomas thrown into the mix is
going to be one of the things that they go to.
This is their bread and butter this year. This opens
up those deep passes. Gino's great on the deep passes.
We've seen it year over year, and that is where
you could exploit the charters. So if they're going to
give a birthday present to Pete Carroll in Las Vegas
(21:51):
on Monday, it will be because of some of those
deep passes and using that twelve personnel being really really efficient.
Eight point eight yards per play has been in well,
that's a lot of yards per play.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Looking forward to this one and I'm glad Greg machem
the what's your deal, ma'am as. Now, both of these
guys have had their college national championships come back in
question because things that they have more in common than
you might think. This game expected to be one of
the highest scoring matchups of the week, according to our
friend friends Caason Sports Book. Let's take a look at
the highest over unders the Jags Bengals ahead of Eagles, Chiefs, Bears,
(22:22):
Lions the game we just talked about, as well as
the Bills and the Jets. Time for two Minute Drill
presented by the Wells Fargo Active Cash Credit Card. Let's
make some very quick picks here on game debut. We
we'll start with the Rams and the Titans in National.
Doescam Ward get the upset and get the first win
of his career?
Speaker 3 (22:39):
He does not. He entertains us, and I love watching
cam Ward, but I love watching Kuka Nakua and DeVante
Adams even more. Rams win by a touchdown. They face
the toughest quarterback matchup they will face all season. Last week,
they actually really weren't that open. If you're watching some
of these catches and what do they do? They combined
for fourteen catches for one hundred and eighty yards and
(22:59):
need do like Oh, DeVante Adams was kind of quiet,
only four for fifty one. Well, he was going up
against me, maybe the best cornerback in the league, and
practically every single catch he made was incredible, including this
one where he just got trucked. As the season was beginning.
This is the best receiver duo in the league. And
even though the Titans defense, I would call them creditable,
(23:19):
curious Sneed's good, totally solid, That's what I'm saying. That's
not good enough against these wide.
Speaker 5 (23:24):
Will anyone's face get busted open?
Speaker 2 (23:26):
No busted faces bus and I enjoyed Greg's commitment to creditable.
He is single handedly bringing the word back into our lives.
The Patriots and the Fins in Miami, both teams look
at a bounce back. One team really needs to bounce back.
Who gets on the win? Collin Cynthia, Well.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
I'm going to talk about the Patriots, and it kind
of surprised me.
Speaker 5 (23:43):
Twenty two to twenty one is my score.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
Why because the Patriots now are bringing the heat. There
was some interesting obviously, the back end of their defenses.
Speaker 5 (23:51):
Missing some pieces.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
Christians Gonzalez was out potentially in this one as well.
But when you look at the pressure they brought, it
was a huge increase year over year, like thirteen percent.
That's a big dick. That's a big increase year over year.
What made to is so uncomfortable in this last game,
It's going to be that pressure and they're going to
see exactly what happens last game, and they're going to
bring the heat in the same way.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
We are all on the New England Patriots. Let's go
to the Giants and the Cowboys in Dallas. I think
the Cowboys win here twenty three to eight. The Giants
offense so it was a bit of a mess last
week and it puts the coach and I tended to
have eight points sometimes when I don't think an offense
is going to score very much because it's very tough
when you're trying to save jobs. You have a couple
(24:34):
of options. You could win football games. That's one way
to do it. You could have a rookie quarterback that
comes in and looks promising, but you need your veteran
quarterback to look bad enough to put the rookie quarterback in.
And it's this delicate balance of power to put to
do things I see. Meanwhile, over on the other sideline,
the Cowboys. They just want to win. So I will
take the Dallas Cowboys, as we all do. But for
(24:55):
some reason, I have eight points for the New York Times.
We got more coming up here. On game debut. The
Bengals finally got a wake one win, but the offense
was a ground to a halt last week. Just two
catches for Jamar Chase will Burrow and the Bengals offense
get cooking Sunday against the Jags. Find out what the
expert succeeding to my left thing. Coming up next on
(25:15):
game debut, we're back on game review. The NFL International
Games return to NFL Network on September twenty eighth. Six
games four cities Dublin, London, Berlin, and Madrid snooze off
game on for Sunday Morning football only on NFL Network
(25:38):
and also streaming with NFL Plus subscription required for NFL
Plus visit plus dot NFL dot com for term. Yeah,
Greg will actually be either. The Jags will be back
in London to take on the Rams week seven, but
this Sunday they've got the Bengals. Both teams are one
to zero. Who gets to two and oh Grid, I.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Think the Jaguars pull off the upset in this game
twenty seven to twenty two. And I love this show
because we can talk about whatever we want, including a
guy who only had three carries last week. Facial twoton
is gonna be the difference in this game. He looks
so good on his first run last week that they
had to get Tank Pigsby out of town. You can't
(26:17):
even totally tell from this view, but his jump cuts
are so violent and so amazing how he can move
laterally while moving forward. It reminds me a lot of
Joe Mixon in the way that he runs, almost like
a mix between Joe Mixon and young Frank Gore. I
think this kid is so explosive. He's their best running back.
(26:38):
And you look at this Bengals defense, the fact they
gave up over three hundred yards to the Browns in
that group, I am not convinced. I think this Jaguars
team wins.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
I also have the Jacksonville Jaguars and I have a
big score thirty five to thirty two and absolute score
fest because yeah, Greg mentioned it. That game against the
Cleveland Browns where Joe Flacco's throwing for two hundred and
ninety yards, He's moved around in the pocket, he's getting
away from defenders, and now they have to deal with
a little bit more of a run and passing attack.
(27:06):
The passing attack that's led by a receiver Brian Thomas Junior,
like Baseiell toot and he didn't have a lot of carriers.
He had one carry. It was a nine yard touchdown
as he got involved in the game. But it just
shows how this new coaching staff would like to utilize him.
I too, think it gets more opportunity through the air
because they're not playing against one of the worst run
defenses in the history of the NFL this week, albeit
(27:27):
still not that great of a defense. Justice for lou Anarroumo,
I've got the Jags.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
Well, you can't say justice for Louiennarumo and then tell
them take this the Bengals. But I'm picking the Bengals,
and I'm picking the Bengals in kind of the opposite
of what you guys are saying. You said high scoring
and definitely the Jag side been good running.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
I think Jags they look good as a running.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
Okay, Well, I'm taking the Bengals and in a lower
than expected scoring game twenty seven to twenty one, which
is fewer than forty nine. Anyways, I'm looking at this game,
and I'm looking at.
Speaker 5 (27:56):
Number one, Uno Time. This is all you have to say,
Uno Time.
Speaker 4 (28:00):
That means Jamar Chase, Why well, in games after he's
been held under thirty receiving yards, what does he do?
Ninety point three yards is the average and a touchdown.
Speaker 5 (28:10):
Also, I don't think they have.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
Anyone that matches up against like, are you really taking
the Panthers data and saying, hey.
Speaker 5 (28:18):
That's so similar to Joe Burrow, Jamar.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
Chase, t Higgins, Mike KASICKI Chase Brown.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
Two points saying outscore him a little bit, you know,
I mean that was a bad That was a bad
Bengals offense last week. Negative yardage in the fourth quarter, just.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Their worst offensive output total yards wise since twenty fourteen.
I do think they'll be a little bit better. Burrow
and Lawrence getting wins in week one wasn't a total surprise,
but Danny Dimes carving up the Dolphins that.
Speaker 7 (28:48):
Was the second and twenty for the Colts. First play
up the second quarter, Daniel Jones.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Plays at right side. That's line touchdown hit the coach hit.
Speaker 6 (29:00):
Junior twenty seven yard beavorit of plee plays past.
Speaker 8 (29:05):
By Daniel Jones to Mike Colt Pittman Jr.
Speaker 7 (29:09):
Touchdownity what for the Colts.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Jones finished with three touchdowns and no picks and the
Colts win over Miami. Now Indie plays host to the Broncos.
Does he keep dropping Dimes in this one? Cynthia?
Speaker 4 (29:24):
I mean, I think maybe I don't like, maybe, you know,
like good touch. I have the Broncos winning this matchup,
not because I don't think that Danny Dimes is gonna
be a good enough quarterback this season, and not because
I discount things that I saw before. But that Broncos
defense is legit. But let's talk about the Broncos offense.
Speaker 5 (29:41):
For a second.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
Because bo Nicks did something that Sean Payton will not
let him do again.
Speaker 5 (29:44):
What does that turn the ball over? Not once, not twice?
Speaker 4 (29:47):
Another four freaking moments with turnovers from this offense.
Speaker 5 (29:51):
That is not something that Sean Payton will stand for.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
That is not something that these Hall of Fame coaches
will allow to happen again. Be it through running the
football which they rushed pretty effectively in that game, or
is it going to be through maybe shorter passes something
that gets everyone back in rhythm. These great coaches and
this opportunity for Bonicks.
Speaker 5 (30:09):
We talked about sophomore slump. Okay, maybe this.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
Is his sophomore slump, but I think he gets out
of that. And I'm saying this, I feel better about
it because Sarvarius Ward doesn't appear to be playing and
Shreber's work's very good. So when your good defensive players
are not playing, you know, when the good players are
on the field, it's easier when the ball game, but
when the good players are off the field's easy for
the opposing offense too. So Bonick's being the opposing offense
in this scenario.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
Yeah, Jimmy's and Joe's, not X's and O's. I've got
the Denver Broncos winning as well, twenty five to twenty
Because despite that Bonick's not having a good game, it
was still a serviceable game. Statistically for Courtland Sutton, it
was nothing compared to what Courtland Sutton's game could have
looked like. He wound up having nine targets six catches
(30:52):
for sixty one yards, but not pictured here. There was
a fourth and eight in the fourth quarter where Courtland
Sutton was all alone. There was nobody who within twenty
yards of him. Would have been a walk off touchdown.
No worries about cam Ward. I think Bonnicks will remember that.
It's not like Corton. Sutton was complaining about it, pointing
to it at meetings all week. It bothers bo probably
(31:12):
more than anybody else. But I think the Broncos get
a fairly easy win compared to last week.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
Yeah, kind of a weird performance from Boenix. He was
almost like trying to do too much. I don't think
he'll need to this week because his defense will carry him.
I have a nineteen to fifteen defensive struggle win for
the Broncos. I talked about development from your players earlier
in the show. Nick Bernito is one of the best
development stories I think in the entire NFL. Every season
(31:40):
he has added to his game where he is a
complete player. In Week one he led the NFL in
terms of pass rush win rate. And he's coming off
that season where he almost won Defensive Player of the Year,
and he gets the contract and he looked even better
in Week one and then I also had an eye
on their second cornerback, Riley Moss, who is carrying a
nation of white cornerbacks on his back. He is trying
(32:03):
to change the game to open the minds of high
school and college coaches out there. His success is very important.
And he struggled little injured last year, great the year before.
He was balling out last week. So let's go Riley Moss.
This defense is getting it done.
Speaker 4 (32:20):
You know who coached a white cornerback, well, Stuart Schweger,
White defensive back Luanna Rumo.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
Did they come on?
Speaker 2 (32:27):
It all comes back, So it all comes back to
lu and yes, Filey Moss. We were all counting on me.
Speaker 5 (32:31):
Love my defensive back.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
It's Tom for Who's Eating Good? Presented by Applebee's Cynthia Tyler.
Warren is your top projected tight end this week? Will
we have more than four catches in this game?
Speaker 5 (32:42):
Four? That's ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (32:44):
I have him for six and fifty nine yards. He's
my number one ranked tight end. Wow, the opportunity him
on checkdowns, I.
Speaker 5 (32:50):
Think they're going to make it very hard.
Speaker 4 (32:52):
You talk about the one level is Drake green Law playing?
We don't really know.
Speaker 5 (32:56):
Maybe that linebacker level could be an area of they target.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
Don't you think it's unfair that Danny dimes of all
people as such a cool nickname like it couldn't be
Herbert or Jordan Love. It actually drops like tons of
dis like it's the best nick is.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
His teammate Darius Slayton put that on him a long
time ago, and it's stuck twenty five yard line Himpty backfield,
Baker Bayfield, He's got Bucky You ever gonna slot receiver
to his left takes a belt high snap, looks looks
those of all toward the Angel receiver.
Speaker 3 (33:23):
That's a cod ball touchdown.
Speaker 8 (33:25):
Tampa Bay up knacka up Bouka Well, the defender all
over him.
Speaker 7 (33:29):
Pete breaks the crabb of the end zone. The Bucks
takes a lead.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
The Bucks and the Texans part of the Monday night doubleheader.
It's Baker versus Stroud. We saw the coverage being wrong
on a Mecca Buka. Do the Houston Texans greg cover
the Bucks a little bit better than the Falcons.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
They not only do that, but they cover two and
a half points and they win this game by six.
You talk about the disastrous Texans offensive line, I'll give
you that. How about the Bucks offensive line. Let's check
the notes. Last week they had their center go to
left tackle at the last second. That's not good. Then
the previous guard goes to center. You have to put
(34:07):
a new guard in. And then this week their right
tackle got hurt. And when you watch this footage, what
do you see, Cynthia. A discombobulated offensive line where the
running game stunk against Atlanta and you got to go
against this Houston Texans pass rush and run defense. I
think it's the best defense just about in the league.
I think they played great against the Rams last week
(34:29):
and that defense will carry them to a win.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
I agree, Greg, I've got a twenty one to seventeen
win for the Houston Texans on the strength of that
pass rush. And we saw just a couple of plays
that are exemplary of the way that they can bother
a really good quarterback in Matthew Stafford. Will He had
a chance to do that against Baker Mayfield. As look
at the speed off the edge for Will Anderson Junior.
(34:51):
There was a play against the Rams where there was
a bad snapper goes out with Matthew Stafford said he's
close to the ball, and then all of a sudden
Bill Anderson Junior teleports basically to him, and Greg mentioned
the shifts and the changes up front on the Bucks
off offensive line. They're going on the road to Houston.
That's tough. So I'm going to give the Texans a
twenty one to seventeen win or something.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
Well, I surprise myself with this one too, because I
have the Bucks winning this one, twenty two to twenty.
Everyone loves the twenty two. There's that time number. It's
a beautiful song, isn't it. That's a pee this I
don't mind. It's it's it's a road team. It's like
an upset. The model's got some guts.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Greg's great in your pick. Since how does that make
you feel?
Speaker 5 (35:27):
I like it? You can great, away, Greg grt Away.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
Listen when I'm looking at this one and I'm looking
at the impact of a Mike Guga. By the way,
Chris Godwin may play what what's going on? But I'm
looking at those inbreakers and what happened last week.
Speaker 5 (35:41):
When something works and you go back to it and.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
It keeps working, that's kind of a smart thing to
do by a coach.
Speaker 5 (35:47):
Obviously their offensive coordinator. You know, we know he's new.
We get it, We've heard this before, but did you
know that Joshua's art. He's like an Ivy League educated guy,
so he's going to be smart. We like that. But
ultimately I liked watching what Aguka was able to do
again on those inbreakers.
Speaker 4 (36:04):
They found something that worked, they figured out how to
have it keep working, and that to me like this,
take something something when it's there. They will have those
opportunities against the Houston I love the Houston defense.
Speaker 5 (36:16):
Let me be clear.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
Do I love the O line playing that little game
of like find the football that they play? No, I
don't like that either, But I think that this is
something where Baker Mayfield and the running back situation with Buggie,
even if it doesn't look good for his fantasy stats,
it's going to work out for them in their favor.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Resard starts too, and oh you could start the I
coached under Todd Bowles coach watch to go on, and
the Buccaneers have another offensive coordinator. Let's get two quick
picks here on game debut, Browns and Ravens. Is there
any chance Baltimore drops this one? Starts oh and two
for the second year to Rows.
Speaker 5 (36:45):
In view absolutely not.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
I think Baltimore not only win, but they win big,
twenty nine to seventeen. I know Greg's a little post
of that margin, but Derrick Henry is still on this team, right.
Derrick Henry is probably one of those people who he
thinks about the end of that game and he's like,
I need to run for two fifty yards just to
make up for any perception of not doing as much
as I possibly could.
Speaker 5 (37:07):
Derek Harry's one of my favorite players. He's gonna have.
I think he's gonna have a two thousand yard rushing season,
especially with this story. I just try to try to
tackle him my dare. Yeah, it's not gonna want.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
He's putting the loss on himself. After the loss in Buffalo,
Let's go to the forty nine ers in the Saints.
George Kittle and Brock Purdy are out so great. It's
Mac Jones season. Is that enough to get to win
for the Niners on the road?
Speaker 3 (37:27):
I think it is. You ever hear those stories about
like a couple in high school, maybe they have like
a little bit of a fling, but it doesn't work out.
They move on with their lives for years and years,
and then they reconnect years later and suddenly they start
making sweet sweet love or football whatever it is. Mac Jones,
he's that man for Kyle Shanahan. It's all he ever wanted,
(37:51):
was Mac Jones in this offense. I think it's gonna
happen this week. Mac plays the best football that he's
ever played. They get the win.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
Yeah, it's the best ever had the answers of the Carvels,
the tinal short things. When Bryce said, Kyler meet up.
I will take the Cardinals in this one twenty five
to twenty four. And this one, essentially it comes down
to the Carolina Panthers in their commitment to stopping the run.
It was a historic season last year in giving up
(38:19):
the run and a great opportunity for both Trey Benson
as well as James Connor to make sweet sweet yardage
against this Carolina Panthers defense. As we just a really
we love football, We love club Sunday at nine am Eastern,
joined Rich Eisen, Kurt Warner, Steve Mariucci, and Cynthia Freeland
getting you ready for kickoff. Kyle brimp sits down with
(38:42):
Joe Burrow. Kimmy Checks connects with Eagles corner Cooper Magen
and a live interview with Seahawks head coach Mike McDonald.
All that and more Sunday at nine am Eastern time.
Time for us to get pen and paper. It is
write this down here on Game day View. Spicy predictions
for Week two. Fire us up, great.
Speaker 3 (39:01):
See mine's not that spicy. It's the most obvious easy
way to be right on Sunday you could possibly have.
It's Kayshawn Booty two and a half receptions going over
on Sunday. I'm going to ask you guys a question. Okay, okay,
would you guys agree that going over one hundred receiving
yards is a good measure of being excellent at football,
especially catching the football good? I think it's amazing. Would
(39:23):
you name me the wide receivers who have had over
one hundred yards in Week eighteen last year, in Week
eighteen or Week one this year? The only wide receiver
give me the name Kashan Boody. I don't know why
I made this a quiz. It's Kayshaan and Booty.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
It would be weird if it wasn't it was.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
He's the number one receiver on the Patriots. He's the
best receiver on the Patriots. It would be really weird
at this point if it wasn't.
Speaker 4 (39:45):
Okay, we're bad at making quizes, I mean whatever, So
I'm looking at this one. I'm I'm gonna take something
that's very easy. But like all lines fans want to happen,
it's Jami or Gibbs having a touchdown at any time
of the game in any way possible.
Speaker 5 (39:57):
Three year other, I don't care, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (39:59):
Just score a touchdown against the Bears. I think they
have to get the run unon going. This will be
a full point. There are some ways to do it.
They saw it last week. They put it on film.
Timir Gibbs touchdown easy.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
Yeah, look again, Henry know that their run game was
free last week.
Speaker 4 (40:14):
Oh we got to talk about Kaishawn Booty and you're
I'm saying like there.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
Was a lot of pressure in the backfield. The top
two and a half catches for four straight games.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
The pressures on the new Jersey number is he hasn't
gotten the end zone with that zero. Got to break
the seal again in there online. I'm gonna go a
little bit more difficult. Joe Flacco throwing for over two
hundred and fifty yards in his first game. Joe Flacco
has not played back in Baltimore since his departure, and
so it's not necessarily a revenge. Joe has come out
(40:45):
and clearly said he loved his time there, But after
watching the Ravens defense in the fourth quarter and seeing
perhaps how limited the Browns can be on the ground,
I think there's a great opportunity for Joe Flacco to
go over two fifty against the Baltimore rankingses, We've got
options for you to write things down exactly, including you know,
letters to long lost loves.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
That's that's the real revenge is the Browns going in
there in Baltimore and beating the teammate stole their franchises.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
Oh wow, We'll see how all these things go. We'll
see you next week. Thanks for watching Game Day.
