Speaker 1 (00:04):
Ten Takes is a production of the NFL in partnership
with iHeartRadio. Hello friends, ten Takes your click. I love
you for it. I will have exactly ten minutes to
deliver those ten takes that are in the title of
this podcast that you clicked on too. Here again, thank
(00:26):
you very much for doing a click subscribe, like do
all those wonderful things. Genuinely, genuinely appreciate you, and we
are going to start the clock now. Take number one.
Thanksgiving is the best holiday. I'm going to break format
here and not do football and take everyone. It's the
best holiday. It's my favorite holiday. If you're an adults,
it's tough to compete with the pure firepower of Christmas
as a kid, and I love Christmas. Thanksgiving is the
(00:48):
best one because the whole Thanksgiving week is wonderful. You know,
the football games are coming, there's all this food prep,
all these festive grocery runs, liquor store runs, and at home,
the kids get a couple of days off. It's not
this nastiness where it's off for two weeks for Christmas
or whatever the hell. It is just two days. They're
excited about it, but they're not in your way too much.
(01:09):
I love the Fourth of July, but that's the middle
of summer. That's a whole different ball game. And really,
at the end of it, what are we really celebrating
other than an anniversary and we do some fireworks and
some watermelon. I love the food, I love the football,
I love the drinking, I love the time off. I
love the Black Friday football game. I just as an
adult it has evolved into my favorite favorite holiday because
it's also the sense that you have Thanksgiving and all
(01:31):
this great stuff is to come. You can start watching
Christmas movies now, Christmas is still coming. All that is
just weeks away to enjoy, and you're not stressed, even
though your damn shopping yet. It's all about just fun, festivity,
good things coming, good things happening. And again, the kids
going back to school only just two days off. It's
makes it much more palwatable. Take number two. The Dallas
(01:53):
Cowboys are easy to root for and fun to watch.
When's the last time you said both of those. You
might have said one of those, certainly the fun to
watch one. But this Dallas Cowboys team is the team
that I want to watch every week now and it
wasn't that just maybe even three weeks ago this game
against the Eagles, I found myself enjoying watching them. They
got down twenty one or nothing. They didn't care. The
(02:13):
vibes were still good, the offense was still good, the
defense started being good. Normally, it's they have this evil
empire sort of feeling to them, where it's all this
Jerry's omnipotent or want to be omnipotent team that suspends
about of money in this expensive edifice, and they're fake
and they got glass jaws. Maybe that'll all come back around,
(02:34):
but this team's already been beaten down. They've already been
cast aside, and they've already been insulted. The Mica trade
was dumb. Your record socks. This team's terrible. So it's
fun to build them up now. They'll be brought down
again if they get back in the playoffs and lose.
But I'm just gonna enjoy this. It's like a feel
good Cowboys. Even George Pickens, who I know for a
(02:56):
fact that was at Steelers' training camp this year, the
Steelers were done with him. They didn't want them around anymore.
I don't think they didn't like him around he was
too difficult, too much of a problem, and I think
it was a lot of stress off a lot of
their shoulders when George Pickens left. And now, look they
don't have any wide receivers they can consistently perform for him.
And Pickens looks amazing in Dallas, part of that comeback thing.
(03:16):
He's an easy guy to root for Dak always has been.
Sprian Schottenheim an easy guy to root for. The Cowboys
coach often not. I just find myself smiling a lot
more during the Cowboys games now. And if they are
the come running team down the stretch, if it's them
in the NFC and the Ravens in the AFC, sign
me up. Hell yes, I'm into it. Take number three.
The Eagles offense is just so bad and hard to watch.
(03:36):
It's the exact opposite of the Cowboys. What is this?
You're up twenty one and nothing with that roster and
you can't close the game. Here's how you do it.
You punt every single possession. The ones you don't punt
you miss field goals or fumble, and you have about
twenty six different penalties. You have to work really hard
to blow a twenty one nothing lead against that Cowboys
team that is heavily, heavily flawed, and they did it.
(03:59):
And the Saquon thing is a full crisis. Takuon Barkley,
an all time home run hitter at running back, a
guy could rip off an eighty five yard run, a
sixty yard run like it's nothing, has not had a
run up over fifteen yards for three straight weeks. He
has been handled the ball fifty eight times in his
longest run is fifteen yards. That's the old line, that's him,
(04:20):
that's the scheme. It's all these bad, bad football things
going on with their offense, and I just don't know
if they don't have the Saquon punch, should they say, well, Jalen,
you're gonna throw out fifty times a game and you're
gonna run fifteen times, because we're gonna have to spread
this thing out and go to the strength of our
offense on paper, which should be our wide receivers instead
of just banging our head into a brick wall with
(04:40):
Saquon and being like, be like last year again, be
like last year again. He's not going to be like
last year. I hate being right about this, but I
said all summer the two thousand yard rushing club always
has a massive drop off the next year. You can
look it up from O. J. Simpson, a Barry Sanders
to Terrell Davis. Any one of them doesn't even come
close to what they did the year prior. And Saquon
is setting a new standard for I like Saquon, he
(05:03):
is not going to win them. That's not gonna work.
So what is it? Show me your next punch, because
it's time. Take number four. Not an innovative one here.
This is not going on my take reel. The Rams
are the best team in the NFL. I hear a
lot of chatdow oh, the teams are all kind of average.
There's not really great teams. The Rams are a great team,
A great team with a great quarterback, a great coach,
(05:25):
and great talent all over the place. I know a
lot of the teams are looked at with good records.
You feel skeptical of them. Patriots have a great record.
We don't have a great track record with Drake may
or not a long record. The Broncos same thing. The
coaches are there, raybel and Sean Payton. But I just
don't know if Nicks is a leg peer yet. I
don't know if Drake may is a leg pier in
the playoffs. Probably not, but you can't tell me. You
(05:48):
know for sure Stafford's not going to pee in his
leg in the playoffs. Matt Sean McVay is not going to.
It's not only the firepower, it's the trust to know
that someone's going to have to really get their best
shot and still beat them because the Rams will show up.
They're just a great team. That was a nothing game,
even before Baker Mayfield got hurt. Nothing. It was over
in five minutes. You knew that game, and I don't
mean five minutes of games. I mean five minutes of
(06:09):
reality time. You're like, well that this is over. The
Rams are gonna destroy this team, and they did take
number five. The Chiefs were always gonna win that game.
I believe the Chiefs were gonna beat the Colts at home.
You believe the Chiefs were gonna beat the Colts at home.
I believe some of the Colts believe the Chiefs were
gonna beat the Colts at home. It's just that's not
the way they're gonna go down. They may come up
(06:30):
just short and it'll be very dramatic at the end.
Of the regular season. They may lose in the wildcard round.
I'm not gonna throw ashes into the grave whatever the
expression is, throw dirt on their grave. In November, when
they lose to the Daniel Jones Colts, I'm like, well,
that's the chief season. It was just it was like
a highlight that was taken from last year's Chiefs team. Close,
(06:52):
kind of ugly game, no real cool highlights. Mahomes makes
some plays and then here comes Harrison Bucker to chipping
in for the win in front of the sea of red.
It felt like twenty twenty four Chiefs And that's a
very good thing teams in the playoffs. And I'll say
it for the thousand times I want the Chiefs in
the playoff. I don't want to see the AFC plaffs
out Mahomes. He can lose, they're fine, but I want
him in. Just doesn't have the same oomph. Take number six.
(07:15):
Bears have a weekly tradition. They have some shaky Caleb play,
then he turns around and is great. They blow a
lead or they're behind lates. Everyone thinks they're not gonna win,
even Bears fans who've been watching this for three months
and then the defense gets an interception, they get a
few runs, Caleb pulls some plays out of his backside,
and they win in the final second. They've won games
(07:35):
by like one point twice, three points, five points, four points.
If there's a single digit you can win by, the
Bears have won by it. And it's so fun to watch.
The Bears are going to Philadelphia on Friday, and they
can win that game, not play close, not be competitive
with the way they're playing and with the way the
Eagles are playing. Bear's gonna win that game to get
to nine and three, to shock the Eagles. It won't
shock the Bears, it will shock some of their fans. Still,
(07:57):
Bears fans, what do they have to do to make
you believe? I know there's a lot of scar tissue
there psychologically I share some of it. But if they
beat the Eagles, I better and I hear about that anymore.
Take number seven. Is there any team that looks more
different home and away in the league right now than
the Lions? The Lions just unleash Jamir Gibbs. They look
I know that the game went to overtime, they almost
lost to the Jamis Giants. It's fine, but when they
(08:20):
get going when they're in their best offense and Gibbs
is flying around and Golf is in control. They don't
resemble anything like the team that played at Philadelphia and
couldn't even tie their shoes. I don't like a team
going into play Detroit in the playoffs. I'm perfectly find
a team welcome you to Troit in their house in
the playoffs. Take number eight. Jamis is an amazing athlete,
Jamis Winston. I think I have to say that because
(08:41):
Jameis Winston has become such a human mascot in the
NFL online, on the field just so goofy, and he
stands for everything that goofy NFL personalities are all about.
God bless him. You see him catch this pass in
the open field and then juke and break a tackle
and score, And you always have to remind yourself. Jamis
(09:01):
is a phenomenal athlete who is a pitcher at Florida State,
who's a Heisman winner, who's a number one overall pick.
We just look at him, We're like, hey, do something
silly or eat the w No. No, no, Like I am
an elite, elite athletic performer. And he showed that in
that game last night. Every once in a while he
has to remind you how talented he is. Take number nine,
Iceland is from another planet. I try to take my
(09:24):
wife somewhere every year for her birthday. She gets to pick.
This year, we went to Iceland, which sounds really exotic
and extravagant. But when you're from New York and we're
like we are, it's not that much. It's like a
five and a half hour flight. This place, this country
is like it's from Star Wars. It doesn't feel like
you're on the planet Earth. The volcanoes are erupting, the
sand is black, the water is electric blue. There's no trees.
(09:45):
The language is ridiculous, respectfully. The street signs have like
thirty seven letters and one name. I feel like I'm
in some sort of Star Wars system and it's intoxicating.
The northern lights light up and the whole sky is
green and purple. I'm like, this is this is episode ten?
I'm in Star Wars up to ten? What is this?
Take number ten. Pie is better than cake. There's my
(10:06):
standard issue football media Thanksgiving time food. Take It's better
than cake. I like it better when it's hot, it's
warmed up By like hot pie better than hot cake.
I like it that. I think it's reheatable better. Bad
cake is worse than bad pie because bad cake is
dry and terrible, whereas bad pie is still. You can
pull some apples or cherries out of there. Apple pie
(10:27):
alamode is better than cake Ala mode explosion. I had
more thoughts on pie in Rapidport cit He hates pie
this morning, Good Morning Football. You hate it ian not
that it's not your favorite. You like cake better, You
actually hate it. Fine. I like pie. I even like
cherry pie. I'm talking about the pie and the album.
(10:47):
Shout out to Warren. I'm doing overtime. It's not allowed,
breaking my own rules. Happy Thanksgiving truly. I mean that,
no joke, no snark. It's my favorite holiday. I hope
you have a great most See you next week on
