Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Welcome.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
It's that Good Morning Football, everybody, brought to you by
Old Trapper Beef Jerky, our favorite meet in a bag
as always. It's Friday, October twenty fourth. Jamie heard all
here just in Los Angeles, exclusively in Hollywood. Today, Manti
Tao and Isaac we're a shot joining run up Friday.
We're great, Biji. Fridays are no longer. Brandon Graham has
unretired and gone back to the Philadelphia Eagles. He came,

(00:32):
he did the TV thing, and now he's like, Isaac.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
Tap me in here, I'm here, I am here for you.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
You're locked in. You went to the game last night,
Isaac MANSI, we missed you. He and I both went.

Speaker 5 (00:41):
I know I was supposed to go, but my son
had a little cold.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Oh no, daddy had some daddy beat.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
All right, that happened.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
That happens.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Yeah there right, Well that's been established here at GMFP.
It's a Friday. We got a long highlight, we got
games to play, mad minutes to do. Lock in, everybody,
let's go. Welcome to Good Morning Football, presented by Old trapper.

(01:15):
That's right, d MTV. Everybody on a Friday, Jamie Mansi
and Isaac and Manta you know this. You know we
sit here normally and I look at you, which I
do because such a dear friend. But there's oftentimes they
cast me I do. There's like a human oz over
Manti's left shoulder normally, which is the version of Kyle Brandt.

(01:35):
Isaac Rochelle at the table and said, you kind of
have one yourself, Isaac, because you got that lady witch
over there. That's essentially our Kyle Brandt today.

Speaker 6 (01:42):
It's all spooky though the whole thing I walked out.
I was here last week, none of this was here.
Now we're back, and I'm excited.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
I will say this, that witch over there is far
less spooky than Kyle.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Yeah, it's moving.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
The amount of pressure that I feel when I have
Zelda on that screen over there, it's kind of it's
it's a little intimidating because he just kind of looks
over me and make sure everything is going according to plans.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Our editorial. Zelda on his way to Tampa Bay right
now to interview Baker Mayfield. You're going to see that
interaction I believe on Game day morning on Sunday, and
I'm sure we'll borrow some of the content as well.
Until then, there was a game last night, and unfortunately
for one of these teams, we kind of deemed it
a get right game, which means, you guys, the Chargers
passed the test and the Vikings did not. Thursday night
in La. Those are two guys that won a national

(02:25):
championship for Michigan back in twenty twenty four. And then
there was the carter quarterback that was starting for the Vikings,
Carson Wentz until Justin Herbert. This thing was early, deep, deep,
deep in the defensive zone for the Vikings. Isaiah Rodgers.
Isaiah Rogers pops this one off and listen, very convincing
because Rogers had himself a game a couple weeks ago,
a couple of interceptions, but they say no, go ball moved.

(02:48):
Chargers keep the ball now. Fourteen plays later, and I
say that with emphasis because that is just a long
and dehumanizing drive for the Chargers. That is Arondez Gadson
who pops on in for an eight yard touchdown. Second quarter.
Chargers still have this seven to nothing lead. Justin Herbert
doing what Kevin O'Connell described him as big dude, athletic dude.
He can sustain drives kind of dude, and he did

(03:09):
just that. Chargers into the red zone three plays later.
This is Kamani by Dal punches one in Chargers got
fourteen nothing. But listen, this one was a big deal
because Mantai Joe Alt was.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
There as he was bad guys. He was moving in
line of scrimmage and making holes for that man. Kimmani
by Dale keeping Justin Herbert safe all day long.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Happy to have him. Justin Herbert, that's his guy on
the left side. Later in the second quarter, Carson Wentz,
this thing gets batted. When those balls goes up in
the air like that, it feels like an eternity. But
the problem is Wentz had to get this thing to
make it in completion. But his left arm, which he
had been hurting earlier in October, is not throwing. But
that thing hurts, so he's in pain pretty much for

(03:49):
the rest of the night. Here's Wentz has time to
find Lad McConkey over the middle. That's good for a
first down, and then some McConkie is thrilled because they're
at the two minute warning. Now before half, moving the
ball fifty seconds to play, Chargers have this four teen
three leads a layup for mccauckey in the back of
the end zone. Ln McConkie's so athletic, great hands. Look

(04:11):
at these two celebrating. This is the anti Aaron Rodgers
touchdown celebration. Don't touch each other, just jump side by side.
It's all good. Twenty four to three. Here's Herbert again,
but this time that's Josh Mttellis. Tip ball by Jalen Redman.
Mittellis comes down with it. The reason why this matters
not only because Herbert's thrown a couple interceptions so far

(04:34):
this season, but the Denver Broncos have put everybody on
notice after last year's or last week's fourth quarter where
it's like, Okay, did the Vikings have a chance. This
is on that same drive. Okay, Vikings gets the ball back,
Carson Wentz finds Jordan Addison for a four yard TD.
Now it's just a two score game until it wasn't.
Here's Kamani by Dalt Chargers backfield. Their running back room
has been demolished via injury to the fact that by

(04:57):
dell Is having himself a career night at twenty three
rushes one hundred and seventeen yards. That was his one touchdown,
justin Herbert eight play later finds Trey Harris. Herbert was
just extending plays all night, all night. There they are again, guys.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Oh, good high five, doing.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Good, classy high five, thirty one ten At this point, guys,
that got really uncomfortable. Honestly, for the Vikings, Carson Wentz
was in a visible pain every time he went to
be under center. Max Brosmurr, the undrafted quarterback out of
the University of Minnesota, was at the ready helmet on
Wentz in pain. And there we go. We started the
highlight that way. That is the emergency third quarterback and

(05:34):
or your first round pick for the Vikings from two
years ago. JJ McCarthy hugging on his college coach, Jim Harbaugh,
who must have been thrilled with the outing for the
Chargers thirty seven to ten. The final Chargers improved a
five and three, and the Vikings unfortunately maybe going into
parts unknown that we cannot follow them. At three and
four they have the Lions, and now the conversation becomes,

(05:55):
does JJ McCarthy get the start the next time. The
Vikings are out ten days from now against the Detroit Lions. However,
we must celebrate the quarterback that did start for the
Chargers in one justin Herbert, mister Hollywood, mister cool calm
collected himself. Ain't no thing when you got a thirty
seven to ten win over Minnesota.

Speaker 7 (06:14):
I thought we had a good plan and guys were
dialed in all week of practice, and he just went
out there and executed. And you know, I think that's
the most important thing of going out and making plays.
And you know, whether it was second or first down,
we did our best to stay in front of the
chains to set ourselves up for good their downs. Yeah,
a big win for us, you know, a big opportunity
for us to go correct some of our mistakes. And

(06:35):
I thought all three phases did that, and it's just
good to see a charge of win today.

Speaker 8 (06:39):
That's a good defense, you know, that's that's all start there.
I'll say that's a very good defense. They made it
tough on us, you know, they kind of made us
one dimensional there, which makes it even tougher. So you
know that on a short week, they played better than
us tonight. And I can be better too to help
that out.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Carson Wentz actually looks like he's in good spirits at
that press conference because he was in writhing pain pretty
much for two and a half quarters of that game.
Chargers dominated every facet thirty seven to ten the win. Isaac,
we were just chuckling in a warm hearted manner about
Justin Herbert and his approach at the podium. But his
approach as the quarterback is pretty damn impressive.

Speaker 6 (07:15):
Yeah, I mean I feel like I was watching him thinking,
I want to be like Justin when I grow up. Yeah,
everything he does, he's so chill, like you said, yeah,
but he's so cool at the same time. And the
thing about Justin, because I know him, he's always the
quietest guy in the room.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
When you're around him, you're like, is Justin here? Last night?

Speaker 6 (07:30):
Was not that everything he did felt like it was right.
But here's where I want to talk about Justin Herbert
running the ball. Yeah, I felt like he was running
with a little extra tenacity. There was a play where
he was his second quarter, he was going for a
first down to eventually score and look, I mean, look
at these plays. He's in dog mode and I feel
like the Chargers were almost at the point where they
were becoming desperate for a win. People were going to

(07:52):
stop talking about them. This was a must win game.
And I felt like he was running the ball as
if he was a quarterback that was desperate for a win.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
He has two hundred and sixty.

Speaker 6 (08:00):
Million reasons to not be running the ball like he
should be yelling Joe all every single play, protect me,
keep me safe. I'm making a lot of money to
sit back here safely. No, Justin Herbert putting the team
on his back, and you know, like we said, he's cool,
calm and collective, but last night I felt like Justin said,
you know, whatever it takes today, I'm gonna do.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
There was a postgame interview on Prime with I believe
it was Kamani Vidal. Those guys got him on the
headset and I think it was Ry Fitzpatrick was messing
around and was like, you know, Comani, we don't get
to talk to Justin Herbert a lot. And there was
like an open chuckle by everybody on the set, like
the full blown acknowledgment that to your point, you don't
hear from Justin a lot, but when he speaks in
his play it's very very noisy.

Speaker 5 (08:40):
It's very noisy, and he made a lot of noise
last night being able to do what he was able
to do on the football field. And I hope that
he's able to continue that because the Chargers do need
that going forward. And you talk about desperation, I think
that's exactly what they need, is to play with that
desperation because they are one of the better teams in
the NFL. And if they can play that way, I
think he'll bode well for them in the long run.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
I want to talk.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
About a run by Yeah, yes, go second the second.

Speaker 5 (09:06):
I think he scored a touchdown last night. He's been
one of Justin Herbert's favorite targets.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
As of late. Now.

Speaker 5 (09:12):
This is why this is a big deal to me
because for over almost fifty percent of the snatch last night,
I think Greg Rohman was able to run the type
of offense that he wanted to run. That's a multi
tight end offense. You saw twelve personnel, which is one
running back, two tight ends. You saw twenty two to
thirteen personnel when they ran twenty two personnal, I think
that's the most I've.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Seen Scott Matt Locke all season long play.

Speaker 5 (09:35):
He's our full back that he's number forty four.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
He also plays defensive line.

Speaker 5 (09:39):
Now, what does somebody like Ronde Gatson do for your offense?

Speaker 2 (09:43):
When you go those big personnels.

Speaker 5 (09:45):
It allows you to be big but then still be
a presence in the past game. So when they go
thirteen personnel or twenty two, it's really take one of
those tight ends and treat him as a receiver, which
Ronde is. And so that's why I think with Ronde
being able to do the things he's been able to
do the past couple weeks, he just didn't do it
last night that last week as well. I think that

(10:06):
opens up the playbook even more. And I think Greg
Roman really wants to sit in this place with the
O line that they have to be able to run
the ball more efficiently, and then when they're able to
go through those bigger fronts and bigger personnels, it also
helps him in a pass pro game because we know
that the offensive line has had so many injuries to
have those extra tight ends and there now you have
guys that can block. Now you guys have guys that

(10:28):
can give Justin Herbert a little bit more time. So
I thought that Aronde coming onto the scene and being
able to do what he did in the past game
allowed Greg Roman to stand those multiple tight end fronts
that he likes to stay.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
OLQ our researcher, just email me something that I think
you guys will love. Okay, Ronde Gadson Dad not the
second his father benches his own son on his fantasy
football ross because he's like, nah, no, no, you haven't
been winning me games. And now he's like absolutely popped
off over the last two weeks. It's a fantastic story.
And I quote from Dad, he gonna ride the pine.

(11:02):
I mean that is ruthless parenting. Know, well done, o Que.
That was a great fine yes Friday.

Speaker 5 (11:07):
On Friday we talked about the fantasy football section of
this thing, and I remember a few weeks ago we
actually spotlighted Ronda Getzon on this show and talking about
how he's somebody to watch and wow, yeah, so just
followed the GMFB.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
You'll know what to do.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
It was a good watch for the Gadson family, all
versions of them. Last night. It was really really painful
for anyone that was a part of the Vikings family.
You know, since we're in LA I was going to
do like a vibe check amongst everyone. The vibes were
not great almost immediately for the Minnesota Vikings. And I
feel like it happened with that review of the Isaiah
Rodgers pick, Like that thing could have immediately gone up

(11:41):
a touchdown. The offense wouldn't have had to do anything
just yet. But Isaac, this thing was really painful to watch.
What do you Is it too obvious to say? Man,
we just attributed to Carson Wentz's inability to get the
ball out of his hands.

Speaker 6 (11:53):
Yeah, I feel like with this game, there's so many
things to talk about. First off, just real quick, is
it too early in the show to talk about JJ McCarthy,
Because no, the question of is JJ McCarthy going to
be the quarterback for them is wild to me.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
I mean, I like Carson Wentz. I played with him.
He's a cool guy to.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Colts.

Speaker 6 (12:14):
I was with him in the Colts And you know,
I just think this is a no brainer. They have
ten days until their next game. They made this big
scene about we want JJ McCarthy to be prepared. We
don't want to put him in a short week and
have him in a bad situation. This team cannot wait
for JJ McCarthy to come back. In fact, his interaction
with Harball with the big smile, Yes, he was happy
to see his coach. I think he's ready for opportunity,

(12:34):
so I'm excited to see him play. The other side
of this is just I feel so bad for Carson Wentz.
I mean, having played with him and the career that
he's had, the ebbs and the flows, you kind of
want to see him win. You know, when he was
playing well with the Vikings early and or when he
had a couple of chances, you're like, Okay, I like this,
I like Carson doing this. Now, it's just tough. Also,

(12:54):
just for Vikings fans, Jamie, that includes you, thank you.
I feel like this has just been such a letdown.
This offseason was packed with huge moves. They brought in
Ryan will Prize, they built up this d line Isaiah
Rodgers we just talked about, and then here we are
with the Vikings team that has a huge question mark.
I told you this yesterday. I was with Emma Kelly,

(13:16):
Ryan Kelly's wife yesterday. My wife was interviewing her and
she was talking about how excited she was in the
off season, how big of a move this was for
her family. They had so much optimism and it's just
been kind of like it almost felt like a swing
and a miss in general for this team.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
But yeah, no.

Speaker 6 (13:31):
Doubt JJ McCarthy is going to hopefully bring them some
life moving forward.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (13:36):
Listen, it's seven games in, so there's still a lot
of football to play, so I'm hoping that they do
turn it around. But this is what I took from
the Minnesota Vikings. It was hard for me to watch
Carson Wentz. Wentz wins every single time he came off
the field. It got to a point I was like,
take the guy out, like we why is he still
in the game. And then as a former player, I

(13:58):
see this happen in the second quarter when Justin Jefferson
gets knocked out of bounds and the quarterback that you
invest it's so much in as the on the sideline,
jumping rolling around points happening. Ankle looks good to me, guys,
it looks good to me. Meanwhile, Carson Wentz is out
there looking like his his non throwing arm is about

(14:20):
to fall off.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
And so for a.

Speaker 5 (14:23):
Former player, if I had to look at it as
a teammate, if that was my teammate.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
Again.

Speaker 5 (14:28):
I don't know what's going on over there, but JJ
McCarthy looks healthy to me. He looks healthier than Carson
Wentz looked last night. So I know he was the
emergency quarterback. But at a certain point is that I
don't know what led up to the decision to play
Carson in that timeframe. But if I looked at the
two quarterbacks, I was looking at a quarterback that could

(14:49):
jump around celebrate first downs. I'd rather him jump around
and celebrate first downs after throwing them than during that
after trying to avoid a player getting hit out of bound.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
So that's what the thing was a little confusing to me.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
The loss was so frustrating. You enter into territory of
like conspiracy theory, which is like, why did they make
this decision? Is if he was healthy for this game,
then you start to back it up. Wouldn't have he
been healthy four days ago? So it's to two games
in a five day stretch. Now you got ten days
to prepare for the Detroit Lions. The inevitability that we
will see JJ McCarthy, who was never put on IR

(15:22):
feels quite powerful. But it was really hard to watch.
And then you have Max Brozen where there was a
shot at him last night, who was the backup quarterback
to Carson Wentz standing there, and the look of hopefulness
that he had when he thought he was going to
go in versus when he did not. It's not great
in the mentions for the Vikings fans this morning.

Speaker 6 (15:38):
Yeah, and I wonder Mantai as a player because at
the end of this game, Carson Wentz was totally beat up.
I mean, his head's back just like defeat feet the
end of the game.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
What do you think that does to a roster.

Speaker 6 (15:48):
Because when I see that when I'm a player, like
if I was on his team as I was with
the Colts and I saw that, I would be frustrated.
It's deflating. I'm just curious how you would have felt.

Speaker 5 (15:57):
Well, if I'm Justin Jefferson, I'm mad, absolutely, Justin.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Jefferson, it was Docu. His frustration was for sure.

Speaker 5 (16:03):
Document Yes, if I'm Justin Jefferson, I'm mat and I
have I think last night just made me appreciate Justin
Jefferson even more because you talk about a guy who's
been thrown the ball by so many different quarterbacks, yet
he I think he had one of the most major
accomplishments last night.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
I can't remember. He's like the fastest to accomplish something.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
Eight Yeah, passing Julio Jones who did in eighty five games.
Justin did it in eighty four games.

Speaker 5 (16:27):
And this is a guy that's had like four to
five quarterbacks, right, and he's consistently There's receivers that have
far more opportunities and have far more capable systems that
have catered to them, that are throwing fits on the
sideline or.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
You don't see that with Justin.

Speaker 5 (16:45):
You don't see when he's overthrown or underthrown him throwing
his hands up. He runs back to the huddle, jogs back,
gets ready, runs back out and does like respects to
Justin Jefferson, one of the best to ever do it
the way that he holds himself. So I just felt
for Justin Jefferson out there. I'm running around and look
like he's just doing cardio for the past few weeks.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
Twenty seven point win for the Chargers. It's the second
largest win for Harbaugh on his tenure and the second
worst loss by Kevin O'Connell. So we'll see what this
means for trajectory for both of these teams. Tom pellisera
welcome into Good Morning Football and if on network insider
with us. The Chargers look great and they absolutely stifled
a Vikings offense. However, that does not come without injury
concern for one of their if not the defensive star

(17:26):
for the Chargers. What's going on with Derwin James.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
That's right, Jamie Darwin.

Speaker 9 (17:29):
Jane suffered an ankle injury in the game last night
was not able to return that he once spotted on
the sideline in a walking boot. Jim Harbaugh did not
offer any type of a substantive update on james status
after the game. Remember, they played Thursday night, so they
got a longer week ten weeks before their next game
next Sunday against the Titans. In other news, the Jets

(17:51):
have yet to name a starting quarterback for their game
on Sunday against the Bengals, despite their owner Woody Johnson
offering up his thoughts in the early portion of the week.
Tyro Taylor and Justin Fields have also said they haven't
been told is starting in this game. Certainly an unusual
way to approach things, but there have been a lot
of unusual things so far. The season for the oh
to seven Jets. Worth mentioning Tyrod Taylor limited the past

(18:13):
two days in practice because of a knee injury, potentially
some answers as soon as today.

Speaker 5 (18:20):
A lot of not so good news, but I know
that you have some positive news about some other quarterback
that could be playing this week in.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
Purple or black.

Speaker 9 (18:30):
That's right, Manta. Lamar Jackson has been on the practice
field the past two days. Listed is limited on the
injury report, but John Harbaugh had said going back to
before thereby that he expected Lamar would be back this week.
The fact that he is on the field would certainly
suggest that the team has not confirmed it that he
is going to be the starter on Sunday against the Bears.

(18:51):
Final injury report for Baltimore Lands today. The Commanders already
know they will not have Jayden Daniels next Monday night
at Kansas City. Dan Quinn confirming what we had reported
earlier in the week. Jaden Daniels is out for that
game because of the hamstring injury that he suffered in Dallas.
This is nothing long term for Jaden Daniels. It is

(19:12):
a low grade hamstring injury, but they want his full
focus this week on rehabbing, not trying to get himself
ready to play in the games. Will be Marcus Mariota
trying to help the Commanders get.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
A much needed win against the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Guys, all right, Tom, thank you so much. Kyle was
saying like, I don't want to see Mariota in that game.
I want to see Jaden Daniels. Unfortunately we don't get
that matchup on Monday Night Football. Moving on on GMFB,
we got a player to talk to Plus Giants, rookie
quarterback Jackson Dark. You're enough to play the Eagles for
the second time in three weeks. Welcome to the NFL,
my friend, Will he and the g men get back
into the win column after the devastating loss that they

(19:46):
suffered just in the fourth quarter alone to the Denver Broncos.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
Mandy, you know that person you talk about. We're going
to talk to you, Jamie as none other than.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
Jase Brown.

Speaker 5 (19:56):
We're going to talk to him about his outstanding performance
and last week's win, his quarterback.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
Joe Flacco, and you can talk a little.

Speaker 10 (20:03):
Bit of fashion with him on gnfgmfball.

Speaker 11 (20:21):
Black O extends the ball Brown up the middle of
the field of the thirty racing of the thirty five
ten to the forty far sidelines forty five fifty forty
five and finally tackled it. That's a Pittsburgh thirty nine
yard line. Cameron Hayward running down the field along with
Patrick Queen. That's a thirty seven yard run on the

(20:42):
first play of the drive for Chase Brown.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
Last week's Thursday night game was billed as the Icy
Hot Bowl because both the quarterbacks are really old. But
that doesn't matter if you have really young running backs
that you get to rely on. Chase Brown joining the
show from the Cincinnati Bengal Chase congratso such a game
last week, a season high one hundred and eight rushing yards.

(21:10):
We understand the whole concept of moving on to the
next game, but can we please just bask in what
you guys were able to accomplish last week against a
division rival. How that game feel for you, especially coming
on a short week when you know how badly a
team needs to rely on a run game.

Speaker 4 (21:25):
I mean, it felt great to get a win.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
It was huge for us Thursday night game under the lights.
Able to go out there and have some space to
make some plays. So that was kind of the highlight
of it. And yeah, no, it just and on a
short week too, It's just like there's so much that
goes on, Like we were traveling back from Green Bay
and you know, you're barely able to really get your

(21:49):
body back, but you know, Thursday comes around able to
go out there and play.

Speaker 4 (21:52):
So it felt good to get that win.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
When you're talking about.

Speaker 5 (21:54):
A short week chase, but you're also talking about a
quarterback that had a short amount of time to prepare
for two games. How impressed were you that somebody like
Joe Flackel could come into the situation and, in the
span of nine games nine days, put on the performance
he did last week?

Speaker 4 (22:08):
Extremely impressed.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
I mean the first day he came in, his ability
to just recite the plays in the huddle was crazy,
Like I don't even know how he was doing it.
And then how he was able to go out there
against Green Bay and just operate was even more impressive.
And then to turn that over into a short week
and then play on Thursday and play that the way
the way he did was was even more impressive. He

(22:29):
got the ball really quick, you know, got it to
you know, was spread the ball tall, our playmakers, and
I feel like it really opened up our offense in
a way, like you know, you get t going, you
get Jamar going, opens up the run game a little bit,
and then you know, you kind of see this unstoppable
offense that we were all expecting the season.

Speaker 6 (22:46):
Chase speaking of Joe Flacco, your wise season and thinking
of a lot of ways to say old without saying old,
Joe Blato your season quarterback. He made some interesting comments
about eating alone, you know, being the guy at the bar,
Jamar Chase waiting on it. Let's take a listen to it,
and I want to hear your opinions on it.

Speaker 2 (23:04):
I tell people all the time.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
I mean I used to see guys.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
Sitting at a bar by themselves or you know, just.

Speaker 7 (23:08):
Sitting by themselves, eating and grabbing a little meal, and
I'm like, man, I feel so bad for that guy.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
You almost want to go join them.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
And now I realize, like that dude was in heaven.

Speaker 12 (23:18):
Have you gone to a restaurant by yourself and just
been able to take a.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
Breath by myself? That I would never go eat by myself.
I'd do that at home. Would you eat by yourself?

Speaker 1 (23:36):
It depends if I'm at an airport maybe, but probably
not my boys or something an old soul when I'm
on the road, but I'm if I'm in the in
the city, or you know, back home, I'm always with
my boys or you know, my family.

Speaker 13 (23:55):
Yeah, as is a mom, I'd like to say, if
I can get a meal by myself and not have
to juggle children, sign me up for that, Chase.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
Look at your schedule.

Speaker 13 (24:03):
You guys have Jets, Baltimore, Miami. On paper, these teams
don't have a lot of winning records.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
It's actually the.

Speaker 13 (24:11):
Excuse me, you have a very easy record going forward.
Just how confident are you guys that you know we're
only halfway through the season.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
Maybe there is postseason in your future.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
Yeah, I mean we prepare every single day as if
we're going to go get that Super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
So those postseason.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
Dreams are real the inside the locker room, inside the building,
So there's always going to be belief there. As far
as the Jets like, they're going to come out here
and play hard, So we're treating them just like any
other opponent. We're not going to take them lightly and
should be a good matchup this.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
Sunday, Jase when I introduced you. You know, I did
not say new friend of the show because you are
an old friend of the show when you and your
twin brother Sydney showed up before the draft and you
guys had an incredible weekend as a family, and now
you both embark on your NFL career. You two as twins. Though.
The last time you were on GMFB, you had take

(25:04):
with our former co host and fellow twin, Jason mccordy,
about what it's like to feel truly competitive with your brother.
Let's take a listen.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
We're genetically identical, so as soon as he does something
better than me, I'm like, man, I know I can
do that.

Speaker 4 (25:18):
So but that's a full blown arguments when you come.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
To everything, everything, if it's little stuff like I say yesterday,
if it's to get to the fridge, anything, man like,
it's it's a competition everything.

Speaker 4 (25:31):
That's what it is, you know.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
Okay, So what's the thing that you two have competed
about recently? And I know you're playing in two different cities,
but is it like, oh I called mom the most
or oh I ate by myself the most times? Like
what are you guys competing on by myself.

Speaker 4 (25:46):
No, not anything like that anymore.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
We kind of honestly now we we just we just
share experiences. We talk every single day, so it's kind
of just like, oh, how was practice who.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
Tonight? Pretty much?

Speaker 1 (25:59):
Yeah, I mean we talk about stuff like that, but
it's really not a competition. It's just like, you know,
now that we're living apart, we're just trying to keep
up with each other.

Speaker 5 (26:06):
Well, Chase, you said you talk to your brother every
single day, and knowing the preseason this year, your brother
tackled you, and when of the preseason games, what were
those conversations like leading up to that game and was
there any type of smack talk after.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
That play happened.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
Honestly, I don't even think I said a word to
him when we were playing. It was kind of weird though,
So it was hard for me to like stay focused
because as I'm going to the huddle, I just see
I see him like kind of just hovering and his spot.
I'm like, man, there he is right there. Twin brother
grew up with that guy.

Speaker 4 (26:39):
But it was fun. It was fun.

Speaker 1 (26:41):
He always talks about, you know, the energy and link
and I always wanted to play there at some point,
so it was cool being able to kind of check
that off in the preseason and you know, do a
little jersey swap with him and everything.

Speaker 4 (26:53):
So good experience.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
All right, last question for you, Chase. A couple of
years into you and Sydney playing in the NFL, how's
your mom doing with all this? She is has her
blood pressure come down? Or is she just like high
stakes high stress all the time.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
I'd say it's high stakes high stress that she's always
worried about us.

Speaker 4 (27:09):
She's always talking, oh, don't get injured, stay safe.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
Like please, So you know she's just being a mom
and she's always going to be worried about us.

Speaker 3 (27:17):
Absolutely, it's understood. Chase. We love having you on. Good
luck this weekend against the Jets, and I guess I'm
gonna mom you when I say, or any player that
comes on, stay safe, stay healthy. We wish you the best. Okay,
we'll talk to you again the next time. We got
to check in with the Bengals.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
Buddy score touchdowns, I need it, plead.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
Career eye last Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers one
hundred and eight yards. What damage will he do against
the Jets. We shall see on Sunday, Chase Brod everybody
in the Cincinnati Bengals, Let's go.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Look at Mango. Well.

Speaker 13 (27:48):
Over the past three weeks of the international fan excitement
for the NFL we saw in London, we also saw
girls and women around the world continuing to drive global
flag participation. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hosted some of the best
youth players from across the continent. We're talking France, Spain,
Austria and Ireland competing in the All Girls NFL Flag

(28:12):
Youth European Championships. Great Britain defeated Germany twenty seven to twelve,
and also on that same day as the first stadium
in the NFL hosting a women in Football event featuring
panelists from across the world of sports in media, including
two of Great Britain's i fath Elite European gold medalists.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
Thank you very much.

Speaker 13 (28:33):
They shared their inspiring stories and looked ahead to the
flag in the LA twenty eight Olympic Games. We certainly
cannot wait, and as we look around, we have more
football to talk about this weekend. Mad minute coming up,
sixty seconds on the clock, talking giants, talking your team,
don't go anywhere A marginetbe is next.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
Good Morning football.

Speaker 8 (29:07):
Hasn't exactly been clean play from their part when we
play them.

Speaker 4 (29:11):
It's a physical game.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
It is what it is.

Speaker 4 (29:13):
You expected division rival.

Speaker 8 (29:15):
Yeah, not much else say beside the fact that I
don't like them.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
I like a perturbed Baker Mayfield, you know, like I
think he's just in a bad mood ever since that
game against the Lions last week. Now the Bucks have
to play. It's true the Saints. He's cranky. This kind
of looks angry. It's what I look like if I
don't have breakfast. We're going warning football time for mad minute,
twenty seconds each on the clock. There's no Kyle Brandt
to take over the entire minute. HEYI oh yeah, we

(29:41):
can actually do pass the ball perfectly at the table today.
We're going to start with that game right there, Isaac Rochelle,
I think you're up first, Mad minute Bucks Saints. Buck's
coming off that loss that I mentioned. Just kidding, I
led to you, man.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Tay, I'll go first.

Speaker 4 (29:54):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (29:54):
So there are a lot of trade rumors about my
boy Alvin Kamara, but with the season ending injury to
Ken Dre Miller, I think that we just came him there.
I love this fact that we're talking about Saint I
said I was gonna fall to talk about the Saints.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
I got I know Baker doesn't like the Saints. I
love the Saints.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
I'll do what Kyle would have done if he heard
you lead that conversation with the Saints. It's a we
gotta talk Abouccaneers. Okay, they are. They are a team
that is full blown in a hosting a postseason game
in January conversation. What happened to Baker Mayfield on Monday night?
Was that a Baker Mayfield issue? Was that a Lion's
defense positive situation? I can't quite tell. He was definitely

(30:30):
being chanted those three letters that we do not talk
about here on GMFB, at least until Christmas. He's playing great, however,
there's injuries to his wide receivers. How good can he
actually be?

Speaker 2 (30:39):
Books?

Speaker 3 (30:40):
I believe this to be a get right game, especially
if you're dealing with a pissed off Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 4 (30:44):
We love it.

Speaker 6 (30:44):
I have one quick question, because you're a Saints guy.
We heard it on Wednesday. Who's coming back first? Derek
Carr or Manti tayl.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
Take for sure, I'm done and I'm not.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
I'm done. I love my job.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
Saint Seed to life raft they need like three live rafts.

Speaker 4 (31:02):
One of them has Mantai in it.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
No, no, just saying. We haven't talked about the Bills
in a while, and it's because they're coming off their
bye week. They're going to Carolina, which I think kind
of love this game because the Panthers have been really
good at home. Not only they are on a three
game win streak, Isaac, they are unbeaten in Carolina. What
do you want to see out of this one?

Speaker 4 (31:20):
Yeah? I mean I think this has happened many times.

Speaker 6 (31:22):
We had the Eagles, we stopped talking about them randomly
because they lost two games. The Bills, they've just exited
the group chat for no reason. This Bill's team is
still phenomenal. I'm excited for them now. Like we saw
Herbert little desperation game, Let's see our boy Josh Allen
get after it and take over.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
Josh Allen has never lost three straight in his career
and I unfortunately for the Panthers, some of this Jews
who knows it comes directly at the hands of Bryce Young,
but he's hurt. So Andy Dalton gets to start for
the Panthers. Who else is going to lift up the Panthers.
It's really fun to watch this team, but the Bills.
I don't really want to see the panic in Western
New York if this thing doesn't go well well.

Speaker 5 (31:56):
Isaac, you said that it seems like the Bills exited
the chat, and they could have exited the chat because
the Carolina Panthers entered it. I think when you're looking
at the Carolina Panthers and what they do variable oil,
they run the ball.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
Rico Daldo.

Speaker 5 (32:08):
I know that Choopa Hubbard came back last week and
they had to split the carries there, but you're looking
at a Buffalo Bill's defense that struggles against the run
against the run. So if they can continue, if they
the Carolina Panthers can continue to run the ball, I
think they should see some successes.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Sneaky connective tissue in this matchup. Sean McDermott longtime defensive
coordinator for the Panthers before he became the head coach
for the Bills, so fun for him maybe to show
up back in Carolina. Fun for Bears fans recently. They
could be and rude to their five game win streak,
which would be incredible because it'd be their first ones
since twenty eighteen. We haven't seen it in a while.
We also haven't seen Lamar Jackson in a while. Man, Tai,

(32:43):
So what do you think about the Ravens turning things
around this weekend?

Speaker 2 (32:45):
Yeah, I'm excited to see Lamar Jackson back.

Speaker 5 (32:48):
I will say that I did equate to the Chicago
Bears to a buffet line and the buffet line. And
if he didn't hear that, take you is you go
through the buffet for the first round and you kind
of try everything, and then the second, third, fourth round,
you know exactly what you like. That's what I think
the Bears are doing as of late. The defense leads
a league in turnovers. DeAndre Swift had a heck of
a day for the past few weeks, so I think

(33:10):
what the Bears have working over there has been working.

Speaker 3 (33:12):
Thank you for posting positive about the Bears. I'll pick
up for the Ravens. This is an uncomfortable place for
us to be with Baltimore and John Harbaugh in particular.

Speaker 4 (33:20):
Now.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
While Harbaugh is excellent eight and one coming off of
a bye, we don't even if they win this game
against the Bears, and halt them in their tracks. I
think there are so many issues going on with the Ravens.
I need more than a one week turnaround sample size
to trust the fact that Baltimore is going to figure
it out.

Speaker 4 (33:35):
Well.

Speaker 6 (33:35):
Look that being said, some teams have the formula in
place and they just need to solve it. They have
the formula in place. I'm not American guy, so that
may not make sense.

Speaker 4 (33:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (33:43):
If the Ravens have everything in place to be a
phenomenal football team, you know, one in five. I don't
think it's a representation of who they are. We've got
Lamar coming back. I'm excited for him.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
I see what happened to you last weekend. I'm so sorry.
I'm really jumping into your time. I'm long winded on
mad minute. This is why I'm normally not love you, Jamie.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
I'm all in on it. Mark here.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
Yeah, I'm looking at the clock as I is twelve.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
Okay, all right, Browns had the Patriots. We'll play it
this way. The Patriots have won four have won their
last four games, Isaac, Patriots. Can they keep it going
against the Browns?

Speaker 6 (34:14):
Absolutely? And here's why I love the Patriots so much.
Rabel Rabel brings such a culture to the football team
that I think sometimes people overlook and they brought in
splain I'm explaining guy the Patriots linebacker. Between those two,
I'm all in on this team and I'm excited to
see him continue to compete.

Speaker 5 (34:30):
Go my turn, Okay, so I will talk about I'll
talk about the Patriots as well. I think they're a
team that has really benefited from somebody like Mike Rabel.
If you look at their point differential from last year,
their negatives around negative seven this year is plus seven
as a fourteen point differential. The only team that has
a bigger point differential is the Coats at sixteen.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
So that just goes to show like.

Speaker 5 (34:54):
In totality, the New England Patriots are far better with
Mike Rabel at the helm than they were last year.

Speaker 3 (35:00):
The Browns have competed with Dylan Gabriel as their starting quarterback,
but are we full ready to commit to this guy,
their rookie quarterback as the conversation starter at that position
for the rest of the season. I'm not going to
say the name of the backup quarterback because it gets
really contentious with people. But I'm just saying what's going
on with the Browns. But I'm not going to leave
the segment without saying Drake May's name because he's been
playing austiness. Yes, next up looks like we're going to

(35:21):
see brock Perdy. After several weeks of the mac Jones
experience with the San Francisco forty nine ers, Niners on
the road to take on a limping Houston Texans team.
Can the Texans bounce back against the Niners man side.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
I don't think so. I don't think they can bounce back.

Speaker 5 (35:34):
I think the confidence at which the Niners are playing
right now, and before mac Jones makes this exit, I
think everybody should tip their caps on totally. What he
was able to do for the past few weeks of
brock Perdy being out, I think is nothing short of incredible.
That whole entire San Francisco forty nine Ers team, with
all the injuries that have happened for them, they've still
found ways to win. So shout out to the forty

(35:55):
nine ers.

Speaker 3 (35:55):
It's returned to your previous job week. Dimiko Ryan's longtime
defensive coordinator for the San Francisco forty nine Ers, worked
for Kyle Shanahan to the fact that these two, for
the i'me ever are going tet in a game plan
will be really fun to watch. Textans have looked weird.
Shout out to the forty nine ers decimated with injury,
but they have been playing great.

Speaker 6 (36:12):
They have been They survived the down, it's a football phrase.
They did what they needed to do. Yeah, survived the down.
They got to where they needed to be at this
point of the season. We're excited for brock Party, but
we do have to tip our hat to Mac Jones early,
way too early prediction. I think Mac Jones is going
to go on a you know, Sam Darnold Mayfield, Gino
Smith Free.

Speaker 4 (36:31):
Raiders type trajectory. I'm exercited for him. Yeah, I think
the resurgence is here for him.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
In the chair in the game of resurgent quarterback musical chairs,
Carson Wentz probably the one man out on that everybody
else has find a seat comfortably on bouncing back and
it just didn't happen a.

Speaker 4 (36:45):
Shot, you know, just like reality.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
The reality check. You know, it's like such a good
feeling when it happens for those guys, and it did
not happen for once. But that's all right. I'm sure J. J.
McCarthy is coming back. Moving on. A conversation that we
must have in the AFC South is the fact that
the don't look at them. Colts are at six one,
the Titans are at one in six, Isaac, how do
you feel about your former Colts team right now?

Speaker 4 (37:10):
I love Daniel Jones. I just want to declare this.

Speaker 6 (37:13):
I've been saying it since literally pre week one, that
Daniel Jones is the truth.

Speaker 4 (37:17):
I like it for football.

Speaker 6 (37:19):
I like what he's doing his football team, and I'm
tired of all the Colts slander. Let's stop questioning who
they are and who they're going to become.

Speaker 4 (37:25):
The Cults are the real deal.

Speaker 3 (37:26):
You're still deeming it slander or is it doubt? At
this point? Your what is it?

Speaker 6 (37:31):
I heard Mike Gigo when he was on here to
say who we still got to figure out who the
Colts are?

Speaker 4 (37:36):
No, we don't.

Speaker 6 (37:37):
One is six and one in the NFL, and it's
really hard to win.

Speaker 4 (37:40):
Like, what else do you need to do in the NFL?
I'm done. Somebody else, go go all in on the Colts.

Speaker 3 (37:46):
Me too. I'm all in on the Colts too. They're
my I think this is great for them. We're going
to be talking about them seven and one on Monday
and clip it off, Titans. If you beat them, then
that's fine. Here's your fodder social media team. Congratulations.

Speaker 4 (37:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (37:56):
I think if there are any questions about it, last
week really should.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
Have answered all those questions.

Speaker 5 (38:00):
What they're able to do against a Chargers team that
did what they did last night to the Minnesota Viking.
It just goes to show that the Indianapolis Colts are
for real. Uh, it could get ugly guys on Sunday
with a team that just fired their head coach.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
It could Jonathan Taylor fin playing great as well. That
was mad minute? Was that played that one more time?
Audio booth? It was like a tomato against like a
doorstop spring or something like that. That was mad minute.
Happy National tight Ends Day on Sunday. This makes it
a perfect time for us to revisit standing right in
front of those beautiful letters. Look at that looks like

(38:32):
a letter jacket. We're revisiting a gathering of the tight
ends over the summer. It was probably really calm. It
was super chill. I mean, guys like Travis Kelsey, George
Kittlegreg Oles and they probably host a very professional event
in which you become a masterclass of the position and
you learn a thing or two about having a good
time as a tight end.

Speaker 12 (38:53):
So now we've already gotten off the ball. Now say
versus press just spec yep. So we've already gone off.
We work our rocker and now we get him here.
We got to make sure when we had guys we
attack their edges of their shoulder pads. We never want
to run into the upfield leg and shoulder. This is
his strong side, this is his leverage. If we get

(39:16):
him moving, this has to be his soft shoulder.

Speaker 4 (39:19):
We want to run through.

Speaker 12 (39:20):
This because now as I'm physical through here, when I
get George's hips stacked going to the goal line, I
own him. If we're going to run a route and
we don't ever get his hips flipped and we allow
him to play, he can undercut or any of our
outbreaking routes, we're gonna run right into him. So we
want to make sure at the end of the top

(39:41):
of our break we get vertical for at least one revolution. Now,
no matter which way I cut vertical in out, his
belt is facing the goal line.

Speaker 4 (39:51):
Everyone good at though.

Speaker 12 (40:06):
All right, So we've started with releases. We've got to
be able to get off the ball. Travis is gonna demo.

Speaker 7 (40:11):
I talked about her inside a little bit about staying
in that controlled space.

Speaker 5 (40:15):
But for me, I like to stay right here, talking
about that that that Formula.

Speaker 12 (40:19):
One car where I'm always right here.

Speaker 4 (40:21):
And I can get in and out of a break.
I can change, I can maneuver.

Speaker 11 (40:24):
I'm still strong getting out of that, you know what
I mean, Like I can gain separation.

Speaker 4 (40:29):
So really work and find that shoulder overtowed and you
can get in and.

Speaker 8 (40:34):
Out of their precise And I'm going to purpose like
a purposeful like powerful uh foundation.

Speaker 2 (40:40):
We can get two it.

Speaker 3 (40:42):
Shout out to those guys. I actually thought it was
going to be a trailer for the tight End University,
like those guys have a great time, But I actually
learned something about playing the position. Now.

Speaker 4 (40:50):
Yeah, it's great.

Speaker 6 (40:51):
I always love how coaches are like, push me here,
and when they give the example all the time.

Speaker 4 (40:55):
I think we're just happy to see Greg Olson, right.

Speaker 6 (40:57):
Yeah, good old Greg Olson holding it down.

Speaker 4 (40:59):
It's cool for the for the league, for them to do.

Speaker 5 (41:00):
That crisis guys, you know what I mean, Like when
I used to train for the first four years, I
was trying to figure out where am I going to
train at? Do I train at home? Do I stay
in San Diego and train. Luckily for me, I had
somebody like Michael Bennett that brought me in. But he
played d line, you know what I mean. But imagine
being over with a whole bunch of people that played
the same position and then amount of knowledge has passed
back and forth.

Speaker 2 (41:19):
That's super cool altogether.

Speaker 13 (41:20):
In Vanderbilt and I even heard that George Kittle was
requesting in the locker room three touchdowns for tight End
Day to let coach Shanahan know. So he's already kind
of pre planning kind of the day he's going to
want to have.

Speaker 3 (41:31):
Manifestation is key. That's just three touchdowns for the forty
nine ers. What is the whole group going to have?
How many times are we going to hear it mentioned
on the broadcast? That's the question of the weekend National
tight End Day. Everybody happy, celebrating
