August fifteenth.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Kyle Brandt mans.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
I say, oh, Jamie or at all the table. Kyle,
you just made quite the suggestion to have a no
football Friday show.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
I deny this. I do not accept it. We must
talk with the sweet, sweet game.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
That we know in love, especially when you're in studio. Kyle,
love to see you.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Yeah, the suggestion came, It's nice to see you guys.
Tooggestion came because I didn't do any makeup today.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
Great and just take it.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Industry stated show do you it's no makeup for me
at all today.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
It's fine.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
I'm just gonna be w It's a raw dog Friday
with me with no makeup.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
You guys don't know this.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
When I'm in the New York studio, a lot of
times I do show without pants.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
So this is nothing for me. You don't even know
this makeup disease.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
So let's rock and roll, right, I'm glad you're covered
up somewhere. Yes, all right, roll it.
Speaker 5 (00:53):
Good Morning Football on a Friday.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Welcome to Good Morning Football presented.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
By Sall That's right, Mantai Kyle Jamie in the studio
in La on a Friday.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
But honestly, I have a bit of an emotional hangover from.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
The Thursday episode that we engaged in on GMFB. The
seth Rollins ultimate heel for the is that the right
term heel? Did you turn heel on your injured wasn't?
Speaker 1 (01:28):
It was the rules of the centuries with two yeah,
double rus. The heel turn is when you're a good
guy and you become a bad guy.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
This was more high jinks and a prank.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Sure, so if you know Summer Slams, seth Rollins are
our good friend is WWB Superstar pretended to be injured
for like months and then real that he wasn't. I
pretended to be injured on the air for days and
then also revealed that I wasn't.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
Also set split his pants on air, and we just
we also talked some football. It was a hell of
a Thursday and I think it today is gonna be.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Great if you take Kyle's camra.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
I also at the end of the show was hiding
behind that net that is behind him on the Spiko
meter because the chaos that went down, and the studio
was jarring at time. So there I was hiding there, cowering,
if you will. Manti was obsessed with the vibes and studio.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
I was obsessed. I was obsessed with the briefcase. I
was running around and like the honey in the back.
It was just so organic, it was so natural.
Speaker 6 (02:16):
As I watched the replay like five hundred times.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
He did.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
He did in all of the spare time. All right,
So since it is rejected the concept to have a
no football Friday, we must cover some football news around
the league. Our NFL network inside are assigned to us
who always has a great chemistry with us on the air.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
What's up, Mic, Good morning do you Mike G?
Speaker 4 (02:36):
What? Yeah? How many?
Speaker 7 (02:38):
How many of those their energy drinks did Kyle have
this morning?
Speaker 8 (02:40):
He feels shy.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Yesterday morning it was electric factory.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
But now we have smelling.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Saltsos okay locked in Mike G and Kyle for that matter,
Brown's Eagles is happening tomorrow?
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Of course, the question that I feel like just comes
out of my mouth without even at being scripted. What's
the latest at the Cleveland quarterback situation? Mike take your pick.
Speaker 7 (03:09):
Every day in the insiders meeting that we have, it's like,
what do you want to say about the Browns quarterbacks.
I mean, we've been talking about it every single day because.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
There's been news every day.
Speaker 7 (03:18):
There's been injuries every day in Shadora Sanders is the latest.
I was down in Philadelphia a couple of days ago
and we were wondering why he wasn't taking reps with
team drills. It was that oblique injury that he had.
He will not play against the Eagles. They're calling it
day to day. So the hope is that he will
get some work at some point next week and maybe
play in the third preseason game. But right now you've
got Joe Flacco and Snoop Huntley is the only healthy
(03:40):
quarterback of the Browns.
Speaker 8 (03:41):
I do find it funny that.
Speaker 7 (03:43):
The alleged old guy is the only guy that hasn't
suffered an injury for the Browns at the quarterback position.
Dylan Gabriel, though, did practice the last couple of days.
I believe he threw that pass to David and Joekuo
that we're seeing right there night celebration, and they want
to continue to see how he respond over the next
day to see if he could possibly play here. It
was moving in the right direction, but they have to
see how he develops. I don't think he'll see Flacko,
(04:06):
who right now is in position a to be the
starting quarterback for the Browns, because Kenny Pickett still working
his way back, although he feels like he is turning
a corner corner. So I think you're gonna see Snow Puntley,
Dylan Gabriel, but you won't see those other guys because
they're still working their way back from injury or in
Flacco's case, going to get some rest. As for Aaron Rodgers,
he's going to get some rest.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
This is kind of.
Speaker 7 (04:26):
Surprising because Mike Tomlin likes to play his starters in
the preseason, but.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
He will not play.
Speaker 8 (04:31):
Mason Rudolf will get to start.
Speaker 7 (04:33):
We're not so sure he's gonna play next week either,
although Tomlin has not yet answered that he's I'll get
the next week when we get to next week.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
If he doesn't play at all.
Speaker 7 (04:41):
There's a lot of trust that Tomlin is putting in
Aaron Rodgers, which is a big reason by the way,
that Rodgers went to Pittsburgh because he felt like Tomlin
handled the process well the entire way, no spring pretty
much and then not playing in the preseason a lot
of trust, although the returns as far as what's happening
in practice there seemed to be pretty good for Rogers
and the offense. And then there's Matthew Stafford who is supposed to.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Be back on the practice field by now with.
Speaker 7 (05:04):
That disc issue that he's working threw gonna workout again
to see if he can get through that without any
issues and then perhaps progress to the point where he
can get back to practice. We are starting to get close.
You're starting to hear coaches talk about things. I heard
Cliff Kingsbury this morning talking about we got to.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Get Terry McLaurin on the field.
Speaker 8 (05:21):
Coaches starting to get a little bit.
Speaker 7 (05:22):
Nervous about how close we are to the start of
the regular season. Inside three weeks for the Eagles and
the Cowboys, just.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
Over three weeks for these other teams.
Speaker 7 (05:29):
So Matthew Stafford getting back on the field and getting
healthy and not having any setbacks, Jamie is going to
be paramount for the Rams at this point.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Sounds good.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Appreciate it, Mike ge We got to check in on
all the young guys, the old guys, Flacco to Rogers
to Stafford. Sometiw it is twenty twenty five. We appreciate you, Mike.
Talk to you in a little bit, man Ty.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
One of my.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Favorite moments in GMF lore, if you will, is organically
one segment years ago. And when I say years, I
mean plural. You came up with this concept because there
was cause for concern whether or not Stafford I think
was available for a playoff game, and it was like
adjacent to a panic scale, but it was really personal
to Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Well, if you know anything about nuclear politics, which is
a fun topic, there's deaf con scale where it's like
where are we in terms of, oh my god, we're
screwed as a planet. And when there's escalating, people think
that it goes up to five is the most is
the craziest one. Actually one is the craziest one. So
if five is the most mild, it goes down. But
when we're watching the La Rams quarterback situation, it's August fifteenth, sure,
(06:28):
and we're past that point at BET's early. So I
have come up with and resurrected something, not the deaf
Con scale, but the staff Con scale with which to.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
Measure our concern about the la Rams quarterback.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
And here it is all right, So at the top
we have it still early.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
Lol, we're landing right now on the vibes are off.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Okay, Now as we continue down towards the opener, we
get to May Day May Day level two is dry heaving,
and then level one is save us Jimmy g. We
don't want to get to level one. That means I
would only take the staff Conn scale the level one
if we found out Matthew Stafford could not start.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
The opening game. I'm talking about the regular season everything.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Now if we get into like so McVeigh says he's encouraged,
and maybe Matthew staff will continue practicing if he doesn't practice,
like let's say Monday Tuesday, we will go to staff
Con three three, and that will be the May Day May.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
Day and it's not the drive even yet. Yeah, but
we're also not at five now. The vibes are off.
I keep saying this.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Initially I made the joke of he's an older guy
in training camp who has back sore and this is
going to buy himself a week or so, which I respect.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
That's not it anymore. That was two and a half
weeks ago.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
We are now at the vibes are off and I
don't like where this is.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Going on out there.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
My favorite thing about this lower third, if you will
the information on it, it just feels like classic old person syndrome,
which is like I try to work out last weekend,
it hurt, I'm sore and it lingered for days. I'm
going to try to get in this weekend. This isn't
like a I'll get after it again tomorrow. Is he
has to take weekends of parts.
Speaker 6 (07:55):
Yeah, he's not pushing it to the back of his
to do list.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
It's like, based on how I'm feeling right now, I
can't perform in that.
Speaker 8 (08:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
Almost like to the may.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Day, Kyle, just to specify, who is the dry heaving
applicable to Is it you?
Speaker 3 (08:08):
Is it McVay?
Speaker 4 (08:10):
I think it's just Rams fan.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
It's also us, like all of us here at the table,
like we want Matthew Stafford to be healthy.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
It's a big deal.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
We don't want to have the La Rams starting quarterback,
who by the way, almost left the Rams in the
off season.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
They decided we got to keep you here.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
He decided I want to stay here and now for
him to have a back issue that again, rams fans
are like.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
There's still time. I know there's there's not as much.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Time as it once was. So it's not a dry heaving.
It's it's just the vibe. It's even at may Day.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Yeah, the vibes are off, and I think we can
agree double may Day. Yeah, double.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
That's the staff gone seal.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
We will update it accordingly as Kyle Brant sees fit.
Until then, let's check into the other quarterback in town
in Justin Herbert. He will be suiting up this weekend
for the LA Chargers. Get this, even though he's about
to enter his sixth season in the NFL, the guys
that were played a preseason game. Now, he's had a
couple of different coaches, but this is a Jim Harbaugh
right now in his second year working together, and everyone's
(09:03):
wondering if it was a coach that made this decision.
Speaker 9 (09:08):
There's anything to go into him and saying, hey, it
would it be okay if you know I went in
and played, because I think in years past the plan was,
you know, to rest and see those reps. But I
wanted to go out there and see a pass rush
because you know, in practice as a quarterback, you don't
always get the true feeling of a pass rush. So
I thought it'd be helpful to go out there and
he was understanding, and we kind of worked together on
(09:28):
talking to plan our.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
Joint closer to it than maybe in the I would
say that the same.
Speaker 9 (09:36):
I think it's more so to see a different defense,
and I think that's one of the good things that
we have done is is we've got, you know, a
scout team that has given us different looks, and I
think that's kind of the thing that we've done the
past couple of weeks of training for whether we're playing
the Rams or whether we're playing the Saints. But at
the end of the day, nothing is the same as
a live pass rush and being out there and actually
getting tackled. So I think that's one of the things
(09:57):
that's helpful about this week for sure.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
I think we were addressing Rams fans already this morning.
Charges fans want thing to be desperately different than how
it's been in years past, especially with Herbert at quarterback.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
Is a different man.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Side the fact that he has not played and now
here he.
Speaker 6 (10:11):
Goes right out there in August Well, something that's definitely
different is their left tackle. So I know he's talking
about wanting to see a pass rush. I want to
see that pass rush on the left side of the
offensive line now that Joe Alt is there.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
Now, for Charges fans, we're.
Speaker 6 (10:23):
Not on the panic scale yet because Joe Alt did
play left tackle at the University of Notre Dame. He
was an All American there, so I'm not panicking on that.
There's a few things besides Justin Herbert that I want
to see. I want to see omar In Hampton. I
want to see him. He played in the Hall of
Fame game for some reason, he didn't play last week.
And for running back that's drafted that high, and with
(10:47):
the status of Najia Harris being questionable but we don't
know when he's going to come back, I want to
see more of this rookie. I want to see him
start to get in the groove. I want to see him,
especially with Justin Herbert playing. I want to see this
new Greg Roman offense start to take form.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
I would say about that Chargers defense.
Speaker 6 (11:03):
Guys, they had eight turnovers and two like one of
them in the pick six. Don't throw to the right side,
that the flat of that defense, because every time a
quarterback throws that way, it's picked off and taken to
the house.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
So I will say guys.
Speaker 6 (11:15):
That I'm really looking forward to three things. Joe All
at left tackle, Amar and Hampton let's get him going
part this play in my half, like you only have
one more preseason like and that's going to be really
a game that a lot of teams use to analyze
their their talent that's on the bubble Omaria and Hampton
isn't on the bubble.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
And then I want to say that defense continue to
dominate KB.
Speaker 6 (11:34):
It's been nice to see it as a former charge
of myself.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
It has I mean, it's in Herbert.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
I think this is anytime someone's been in the league
this long as never played in the preseason. It's like
the quarterbacks playing in the preseason is kind of hot
right now. I feel like it's having to come back
and were huge taboo for years.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
Why do it? Especially with an established guy by Herbert?
Now we're getting out there. You know, we heard a
younger guy like Caleb's gonna play this weekend.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
We getn't see Jalen Hurtship, but we're seeing so many guys,
especially the guys you think would be the last to
play in the preseason, like Tua's out there making throws
and doing handoffsusin. Herbert is a notorious fast starter like
he legendarily. You remember his first career action ever was
he came in because Tyrod Taylor had this weird thing
to happen before the game. They throw Herbert in against
the Chiefs, ever, and he's amazing. I was just pulling
(12:17):
it up, Like if you look at Herbert's first three
games throughout his career, he's excellent. He's not one of
these guys who's shaky, throws a bunch of picks like,
He's not a guy who screams that like you got
to get him in on the preseason.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
No, not at all.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
He's great. He's great right away. So this is just
a case of a it's becoming more popular. There's also
fewer preseason games, and I think this is a Hardbough factor.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
Like we know Jim Harbo, we say this is a company.
He's a weird guy.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
He does things unusually, so he doesn't care that Herbertson
never played. He wants to play. I think Herbert's gonna
play one series.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
I think he's gonna throw three.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Or four passes and then he'll look over to the sideline,
come back to the studio, and he'll look over the
sideline and he'll see that look up on the risers.
Right now, guys, he's just gonna be like, two thumbs up,
get off the field, that's gonna be plenty, or just
stay on the Herbert vio.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
That's what I think.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
Yeah, it's hard to direct from your cheer and give
your teath.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
Oh you can only scream it so loud.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Give him the two thou with me.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
Come on, I'm gonna co chart today chart. Someone was like,
I love you guys in the book.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
Yes, we have to look at the AFC West though
on what this means as a whole, because while to
Kyle's point, like people love Justin Herbert and they love Harbaugh,
but like, is this the year where we're going to
love him together and things actually are different the way
that oh, him playing in the postseason is different?
Speaker 3 (13:31):
Is it going to be different?
Speaker 4 (13:32):
We don't see you.
Speaker 6 (13:33):
I mean, it's got August fifteenth, right, we know the date.
We also know that the season hasn't even so we're
talking postseason. We don't know yet, we do that thanks
to KB. We do know that he's going to start
the season off fast. Now let's continue that. Let's start
racking up get some momentum. I have all faith and
trust in Jim Harbo.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
So the Gravitational Poll just takes you to Kansas City.
You talk about the AFC West and everything you see
and everything you learn, and it's damn near a decade
that they always win the West. And it's like we
used to do with the Patriots every single year in
the preseason and August fifteenth before Patris Brady seasons, who
has the hoodspa to say no, it's gonna be the Jets.
This year, it was hard to do and people are
(14:12):
become Internet lower from saying the Patriots are done and
hot takes and all that stuff. So this year, let's
do another round of it twenty twenty five. Do we
think this is the year that one of these teams
rises up and gets the Chiefs? I think that what
makes it appealing. And I come back to this all
the time. It's not about Herbert, it's not about Geno Smith,
it's not about Bonicks. It is about the coaches, they've
(14:34):
assembled there, all right, This is not It's not like
in the AFC East with Brady when you run through
all these rigamarole with different coaches come in and out.
Half of them you didn't really know that. Well, half
of them we haven't heard from since we got Dons.
And I mean that in the gangster sense, like we
have all Dons who have come to the West to
have a party to try to disrupt the ed you
(14:54):
read invitational. So I'm not going to say right now
that you know what the Raiders are one of the way.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
I'm not going to do that. I'm going to say
this is the.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Most interesting challenging year I think for the Chiefs in
that entire run, because.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
They're getting a little older. Kelsey is not going to
be Kelsey.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Just ask them and the coaches that they have assembled
to take them out. It is like the perfect team
of assassins and their one target is than those guys
in red. You can't get coaches more better fit to
do this. If the Chiefs win it this year, it's
just like they're immortal.
Speaker 6 (15:22):
Yeah, if they win it this year, it's going to
be eleven in a row. Like the AFC West unbelievable.
It's an unbelievable run by them. But I will say
if they do get them, because it doesn't matter it
really are the Chiefs guys, real quick?
Speaker 4 (15:36):
Are the Chiefs a top seven team? And they ask
of course?
Speaker 8 (15:38):
Of course?
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Of course? So that means that we predict that they'll
get into the the playoffs, right, They're going to just
auto bock themselves.
Speaker 6 (15:45):
When they get to the playoffs and start playing at
a level that not a lot of people can play like.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
I know.
Speaker 6 (15:50):
This is a division where all the coaches have been
to the super Bowl, all the coaches have been to
the playoffs. However, nobody has made it as much as
the Chiefs. Now, when I watch the preseason game with
the Chiefs, they look different.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
Guys.
Speaker 6 (16:02):
I got Isaiah Pachuck, Will running fast, he's running strong,
he's looking quick. Patrick Mahomes, I mean he cut his
hair in February. You want to know Patrick Mahomes that line? Yeah,
one pass, one touchdown. Technically he threw two passes, but
one was a hold against Will Johnson for the Cardinals, the.
Speaker 4 (16:18):
Rookie last year.
Speaker 6 (16:20):
He was throwing behind the back passes. There was like
this lacks feel about the Chiefs like, oh man, we've
been here, We've done that. Like there's no reports of
the rest being that practice.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
Like we're just going to show up and this is.
Speaker 6 (16:32):
Going to happen again as it's done the past nine years.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
Now it's twenty twenty five.
Speaker 6 (16:36):
They got refs there, Patrick Mahomes cut his hair, He's
not throwing behind the back passes. They're getting turnovers early
in week one preseason. It just looks different to me, guys,
it really does. So I don't know if if the
Broncos and the Chargers get him in the FC West,
does it really matter, guys, because as long as the
Chiefs are one of the seven teams in the playoffs, Yeah,
(16:57):
we know what happens, guys.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
We know what happens in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Yeah. Are there any other way to interpret the word
Don's except for the gangster type? You clarified that, And
I was trying to rack my brain of other way to.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Say Don's, Well, our president, there's a lot of different dons.
When you say the soap, the duck, Yeah, there's all
kinds of but yeah, I mean the duck, Yeah, Donald,
I get reference.
Speaker 10 (17:20):
Yeah different yet Yeah, Yeah, but you know what it
is like, all right, so the Chiefs, we've seen them
go through the West, and due respect to these guys,
it's Brandon Staley.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Antonio Pierce, Nathaniel Hackett. Like those are the coaches, and
God bless those people. Those people are not Sean Payton
and Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
You's know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Like, I feel like that the Chiefs have gone up
in weight class now and they're ready and they'll probably
still win, but I just think it's so much more interesting.
Speaker 4 (17:49):
Yes, got it.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
All football all Friday. It's happening right now.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
There is a lineup of games to tune in two
for the preseason. And I already did something I was
supposed to do. My earrings apparently are like really Bojangles
today and I just whipped and turned and looked at
Mantai and I was like, well, immediately, I'm just to
keep my head exactly very still during mad Minute, which
is not bode well for the segment. Did you have
to pay attention with these two are going to say
about the games?
Speaker 4 (18:14):
I'm just no, you can't think Titan Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
I might have to take him out for mid segment
Mad minute. I'm just gonna hold him mad minute sixty
seconds come on some of the most intriguing games this weekend.
Let's talk about Chiefs Seahawks. All right, it's tonight at
ten pm Eastern on NFL Network, Kyle, thirty whole.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
Seconds on the clock for you. You have to both
occupy the mad minute for this game.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
This is a fun opportunity for me to just submarine mantime,
just say five seconds and then.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
Later not on this one though. Sam Donald's going to
play in this game.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Yes, So It's what I was talking about in the
opening block that quarterbacks playing in the preseason are back,
and now he's in a new place he should be playing.
He's one of the most interesting players in the entire NFL.
For me, is he really good or is he the
guy who got passed around four different times and was
a backup on the forty nine ers huge deal, ten game,
ten win team last year.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
I want to see him. May come out make a
day view.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
I think if Sam Donald throws it around those four
for five and throws a touchdown.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
We're like, WHOA could the Seahawks win the West? I
think it's a big deal. Four for five okab That's
that's a lot.
Speaker 6 (19:13):
Yeah, Cooper Cup's not playing, Jason Smith and Jig but
was not playing.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Kenneth Walker is not playing well, They're gonna have Donald
without his whole crew, the whole crew.
Speaker 6 (19:20):
So that's why I'm saying, it's just like we're sticking
guys out there, but we don't have the support cast.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
So like, what thoughts of support cast?
Speaker 6 (19:25):
Can I really get a clear picture of what these
guys are going to look like come September?
Speaker 4 (19:30):
Right, I running the ball and Sami's out there. They
got to give They gotta put those guys. They gotta go.
Speaker 6 (19:35):
You can't especially the run game with Kenneth Walker and
all those guys, like you have to have somebody into
that you can be throwing some wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
We're number forty seven has never met you gotta give him.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
This, guys. I want to see if Donald plays well, I.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
Mean often the Seahawks it's well done. The Chiefs are
playing as well.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
All right, Titans Falcons, it's the first game tonight on
NFL Network, seven pm Eastern. That's a number one overall
pick that we're looking at that we want to see
you take a series or two mans I want to
make you're.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
Going to take the series or two. I really liked
how he played in the first game.
Speaker 6 (20:01):
I talked about that bounce, that he had that og
throw back feel.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
When I watched him, I thought he was poised.
Speaker 6 (20:06):
I thought his connection with Calvin Ridley was was really
strong out the gate. Now I want to see that
with Tyler Lockett, Like, we got to get Tyler Lockett
incorporated in this offense. Tony Pollard one of the most
underrated running backs in the NFL. I like him going
into this year, but that defense. We have a friend,
Ola de Joe that came on the show. Let's get
(20:27):
him like he had. He showed a lot of maturity,
a lot of leadership. Like, let's get him rolling because
I want to see.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Him do well.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
Yeah, he was here on a Friday, a Monday, he
signed a deal and then like off and rolling, charismatic
young man.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Yeah, I like him. No Penix in this game, No
Michael Pennix. He now has a different alias. If you've
been watching the Inn over the last twenty four hours, No, no,
no Penix, no cousins either. So we're getting the Eastern
Stick Invitational effect, the super deep dive tinfoil hat theory
on Eastern Stick. If Eastern Stick comes out and looks
really good and really sharp and throws the ball all
over his cousin's become trade bait.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
Already, well even more.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
So because like if Eastern Stick looks like, oh you
can back up now, well that happened. I don't know,
but it we're in the back half of its preseason game.
In mad minute, I'm just making stuff up, but it's
act interesting to think about what.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
It's Dolphins Lions now.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
This one is intriguing mostly because, yeah, we want to
see what the Lions look like. They're great in the NFC,
but the Dolphins and the reports out of training camp,
the vibes are off, if you will, in the con
scale and it's not great.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
So what are we going to see the preseason for them?
Speaker 1 (21:27):
Well, I'm really interested see how the Dolphins show up
in this one.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
Okay, I love that you just did that, KP. I
really don't know what I thought last week.
Speaker 6 (21:35):
Last week, Will black Man, we have an awkward moment
on TV. He just went silent, remember that CaMV He
went silent for like twenty seconds and we're like, yeah,
this is so awkward, but I think that Will Blackman
was actually trying to prove a point.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
It was a moment of silence for the Dolphins.
Speaker 8 (21:51):
It's been rough.
Speaker 6 (21:52):
Okay, LA's two weeks ago, they're over there fighting each other, right,
and then this past week too goes and he's talking
about how it's been frustrating, how it hasn't been looking well.
I think Will Blackman in a way was trying to
tell us like, it's not looking good, like it's it's
looking real real, real bad.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
Use words to do that.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
Yeah, well we thought it was weird at that time.
Speaker 6 (22:13):
He thought it was weird, but he actually I think
he said so much of it in saying so little.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
Let me tag back in.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
I don't can't remember a preseason I've been rooting harder
for the Dolphins.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Now.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
I'm fully behind the Dolphins because I hate teams that
get condemned in preseason. I hate the overreaction teams. It
would make me so happy if the Dolphins came out
and just lit it up in the word three and elphick. Wait,
they were terrible and the joint practice is McDaniel's. It's
all nonsense, it's all folly. I'm just on record right
now on August fifteenth. I'm really rooting for the Dolphins
this year because I want them to prove everybody wrong.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
A really fun exercise on television is to try to
get Kyle to only talk for.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
Five seconds because I'm gonna tag back in. You can't.
You physically cannot withhold yourself.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
I know we're supposed to have a real rumble, there's
supposed to be more voices.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
Many and are like playing hurt. Yeah, I feel like,
never mind the rules for this.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
They don't think you've ever been annoyed the fact that
you have more bandwidth to be able to speak.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
Real Someday it's like Fridays.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
I want less band I just want to pass the
ball and go.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
Let's make up less everything.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
That's all right, Speaking of passing the ball, who's doing
it for the Browns? On Saturday at one pm Eastern,
It's Brown's Eagles on NFL network. MANSI, it's only Flacco
and Snoop Huntley available that quarterback for the Browns.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
Well, yeah, and we up to date. Is Dylan really
going to play? It's so fluid, it's all I know.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
But I don't even know if that's right. And what
do you respect to Mike? Could that change by the
time of kickoff?
Speaker 4 (23:32):
Right? We don't know. That's why you have to watch
the game. Watch the game right, and don't miss anything.
Speaker 6 (23:38):
Okay, what I won't miss is Dylan Sampson playing running back.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
This has been all of this talk about the quarterback.
Speaker 6 (23:43):
Dylan Samson, that running back SEC Offensive Player of the
y out of Tennessee twenty twenty four average one hundred
and twenty three yards a rush. Again, rushing yards again,
that's a lot. Like, that's a lot of that's a.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
Lot of yards.
Speaker 6 (23:55):
But where's Mason Graham? Guys, Like, where's Mason Graham? I
watched I watched his clips.
Speaker 4 (24:00):
He's strong.
Speaker 6 (24:00):
He was taking a lot of double teams at the rookie.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
But he held his ground. So I'm gonna be watching
those two rookies this game. I know we're not. We
don't know what we were gonna watch, but I'm watching
his Workie, if.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
You watch preseason game because you want the big headlines
like what is the starting quarterback going to look like?
But then also some of us football nerds tune in
for like the weird stuff.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
Can we talk for?
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Just I guess eight seconds about Tanner McKee, the quarterback.
This guy through for two hundred and fifty two yards
last week, the most of any player in the preseason.
He also did the tush push. I'm kind of in
I'm on the I'm on the Tanner McKee tran.
Speaker 4 (24:29):
It's going to watch. So this is why we watch
August football.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
So far, you have been on the Eastern Stick campaign
for the Pelicans and now Tanner McKee and.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Also I'm team Dolphins. Now, yes, all the allegiances. This
yea inans right now.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
In this segment, Bill's Bears is happening this weekend's Sunday,
eight pm Eastern on Fox. It's week two for the
preseason for both of these guys. Kyle, I guess start
out with kayleb Williams expectation.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
You're going to see him yet, Yeah, whatever, it is.
Caleb's terrible. He sucks, he's bad, He's a bust.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
If he throws five touchdowns and five passes, he's lucky.
And it's just he's just a passenger. And Ben Jonson's genius. Now,
if he throws an incomplete pass, cut him, cut him.
Just if you go by the internet reaction to Caleb
Williams it only thing that ever leads as if it bleeds.
Speaker 4 (25:15):
Never mind that.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
For the last week of practice he's looked brilliant. He
ran an incredible two minute drill to end practice yesterday
in when you spiked the ball with one second left.
He's hitting the rookie, he's hitting the veterans. Caleb looks
great in the last week, and nobody wants to hear it.
So go out and do your thing, Caleb. No one
will care unless it's terrible, and then the lead with it.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
I think the Bears are.
Speaker 6 (25:32):
It's like a piano recital, you know what I mean,
Like you going to this recital as a.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
Parent and you see your kid up there and you're like, let.
Speaker 6 (25:37):
Me see what I've been Is this what I've been
paying Yeah, a lot of like, oh, she's playing so well.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
Of course he's playing so bad.
Speaker 6 (25:44):
Like I'm gonna go to this recital be like, yeah,
are you really playing well? Like I'm gonna hear it
from myself, like this is that game now that Caleb's
playing and Josh Allen is playing, it's that recital Like
we've been hearing about one hundred two hundred plays before
a preseason game one, Like we've been hearing about live
going them.
Speaker 4 (25:58):
Going live, and what is this recital going to be? Like?
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Yeah, it is, Hopefully it's not a treatment like that
sitting in the front row with their cell phones out
and trying to document the fact. Something you can see
with your own eyes, which you can watch this weekend
preseason NFL Network are They're more.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
There can't possibly be talk about him the second Bay
Meek one up?
Speaker 4 (26:17):
Just can we just go to the bump please? Okay?
Preseason is not always the easiest, guys.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
It's a fun time, but when you break down the
game coming.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
Up more, Good morning football?
Speaker 1 (26:29):
All right?
Speaker 4 (26:29):
You know this guy.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
We love this guy, college bald Syrahcus most of his
eleven NFL seasons, member of the New York Giants.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
Longtime friend of the show. We love him. We got
him justin Peugh, what's up?
Speaker 8 (26:42):
It's great to be here, guys.
Speaker 11 (26:43):
I'm I'm sad I couldn't be in LA, but I'm
here in New York holding down the fort for it
next time.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
I know the feeling. I know the feeling, and we
love that you're doing it. Listen, we got to get
to some closure here. You have officially now retired. You
hung them up as a member of the New York Giants.
You've retired, How do you feel what's going through the
head of yours?
Speaker 8 (27:01):
Feel good?
Speaker 11 (27:02):
Last year was that awkward year where I was talking
to teams, I was out doing some media. At the
end of the day, it was like, I'm not going
back to the New York Giants. I'm not going to
be a part of that organization. It was time to
hang them up. The body lets you know. And it
was time, after eleven years in the NFL and a
couple of great memories and a lot of great people
that I crossed paths with, to ride off into that
(27:24):
next career, which I'm more excited about than ever.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
Justin, can you clear that up real quick, because I
actually find it fascinating. There is like a technicality to retiring.
Is it like you have to fax paperwork or something like?
How does one actually make sure that thing is sign
sealed and delivered with the NFL.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
So it becomes as you say, official.
Speaker 11 (27:40):
Honestly, I haven't signed a thing. It was like the
player Trust reached out with me. I think that's that
maybe a little fake one day, or I don't want
to give away too much of the award of fans,
like they give you a piece of paper there, it's
more of a just a formality. I think for me,
what the most important part of this whole retirement process was, Yeah,
my daughter was there, my wife was there, my family
(28:01):
was there.
Speaker 8 (28:02):
Really saying thank you to them.
Speaker 11 (28:04):
It's been twenty five years of you know, practices, driving
me places, sacrificing, missing weddings, missing important events. To be
able to be there with with my family and my daughter,
who you know is a year and a half old now,
to see me do that, it was a very very
special moment, and the New York Giants did an amazing
job for me. Can't forget the Arizona Cardinals, where I
(28:25):
also played. I just very appreciated with both organizations.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
That's really cool. We're happy for you too. But let's
talk about the current state of the Giants. I'm sure
you still hold them near and dear to your heart.
They're currently holding a joint.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
Practice with the Jets oead of the Snoopy Bowl.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
The two teams are going to play tomorrow night at
seven pm Eastern on NFL Network. Giants quarterback situation Russell
Wilson is the starter. However, the organization turned heads when
they jumped up and got Jackson Dart in late April
in Green Bay. Does he steal this job away from
Russell Wilson prior to week one?
Speaker 11 (28:55):
No, I don't think so, And this is no pun intended.
I've always felt this way. It's all about darts on
the dark board. You want to get as many quarterbacks
in that room competing at a high level. No one
out there in the world has just nailed, but this
is how you transition from one quarterback to the next,
aside from maybe the Green Day packers, but we don't
know what's going on up there.
Speaker 8 (29:14):
I think you need the most competition ross as a starter.
Speaker 11 (29:18):
Jamis has been a starter as a number one overall
pick Jackson darts in a first rounder. All those guys
at some point might have to play the better competition
you can have.
Speaker 8 (29:27):
Finding a guy that can play.
Speaker 11 (29:28):
In New York is even more of a quandary than
anything else out there because it is a tougher place
to play. The amount of pressure that's on those guys.
Russ is your day one starter.
Speaker 6 (29:38):
Well, somebody who we know is going to be a
day one starter as a rookie is going to be
Abdul Carter classmate, just as my classmate.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
We're drafted here.
Speaker 6 (29:46):
Yes, yes, the Giant said they're going to take me,
and then I'm excited to sit there that the draft
and then they draft this guy named Justin Pugh.
Speaker 8 (29:55):
Don't do that, don't don't cut your fist under the.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
Desk, whatever, whatever, whatever, classmate.
Speaker 6 (30:00):
Anyway, back to my question, So defensively, one of the
highlights of that team last year was that rush. You
had Thipotdoal, he had Burns, you had all of those guys.
Now you have something like Abdull Carter. I would love
to have that as my defensive front. But from an
offensive perspective, offensive lineman perspective, what type of threat does
that post to you?
Speaker 8 (30:19):
Oh, it's the best thing.
Speaker 4 (30:20):
Ever.
Speaker 8 (30:20):
When you get into the fourth quarter.
Speaker 11 (30:21):
You want closers and I said this and I tweeted
this out. You want Tuesday ors and a Tuesday or
is a guy that you turn on the film on
Tuesday when you start breaking down an opponent and you're like,
I gotta block him this week. The Giants have Brian Burns,
Who's a guy that makes you nervous We're forgetting Dexter Lawrence,
who I think has an opportunity to win Defensive Player
of the Year this year. I think last year, if
(30:41):
you look at the stats and the Giants had a
better record, you're talking about Dexter Lawrence. He is the
most dominant nose tackle in football. I went against him
since he was a rookie and I was on the
team with him. He is an unblockable force. Then you
add an Abdul Carter. Everything looks great right now when
you're looking at training camp.
Speaker 8 (31:00):
He's done a lot of great things.
Speaker 11 (31:02):
Prove it to me. When you're a rookie. He's gonna
get one on one all year long. He better win
those matchups. He better dominate. I'm expecting an amazing year
out of him. And then Kavon Thibodeau. He's becoming this
guy that everyone's kind of getting on. He was a
very high pick. He's going to have a monster year.
He's probably feeling the pressure as well. When you draft somebody,
and I can give a perfect example, I was a
(31:23):
starting right tackle. We draft Eric Flowers ninth overall, it
makes you play better. I went on to have a
successful eleven year career. And I'm looking for that same
thing from Kayvon Tibeau to keep pushing to be dominant.
I actually want some bulletin war material for these guys, like,
prove it to me, d Line. I want to see
you prove it on Sundays because looking at the depth
chart and reading the tea leaves you look great right now.
Speaker 8 (31:44):
You're never great until you do it. You know when
the lights come on.
Speaker 4 (31:47):
Peugh, you are dealing right now.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
You sound like a professional analyst who's out of football
and is doing media.
Speaker 4 (31:52):
You sound incredible. Keep it going.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
For most of my life, my favorite football player of
all time has been Walter Payton.
Speaker 4 (31:58):
Sweetness's run is over.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
It's now Cam Scattaboo of the New York Giants, the
rookie running back. Just rep me up, Hugh, give me
some stuff, Scata.
Speaker 8 (32:04):
But let's go.
Speaker 11 (32:05):
Come on, hey, watching him at Arizona State. Now, I
told you I was in Arizona, so I got to
be a part of that Arizona State run this last year.
Go back to the tweets, guys, let's go. I got
a Cam Scataboo tweet out there. I don't know if
you can if we can dig that one up. It's
gonna take a little while, but I tweeted Cam Scataboo
plus Tyrone Tracy would be a one to two battle
that no one wants to see coming.
Speaker 8 (32:26):
I really think that he can be that thunder to.
Speaker 11 (32:28):
The lightning the Giants when they had him on Bradshaw,
when they had Brandon Jacobs, they were a team you
didn't want to face. I need my guy having Neil
getting in there, getting rawity on the offensive line.
Speaker 8 (32:39):
There's more depth on the old line than ever.
Speaker 11 (32:41):
But you kind of hit that thunder and lightning with
Cam Scattaboo and Tyrone Tracy. I'm excited for that front.
You play really good defense. The New York Giants are
a team you don't want to play late in the year.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
Justin before I get this next question out, I just
want to make sure the parallel is understood that the
way that Kyle feels about Cam Scataboo is how I
feel about Taylor Swift, and I just want to say
her name early so in case anybody does want to
change the channel out of reage.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
You're allowed to.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
Do that, though I don't know why people are doing
that anymore. If you didn't listen to one of the
biggest podcasts live streamed and now subsequently posted of all time.
We have a clip educate yourself real quick.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
I didn't know what a first down was. I didn't
know what the chains were.
Speaker 8 (33:20):
I didn't know what.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
A tight end was.
Speaker 8 (33:23):
I'm ever thankful for you diving into the football world.
Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
I fell in love with it.
Speaker 8 (33:29):
I became obsessed with it.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
I became like a person who was running through the
halls of my house screaming.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
We Drafteda if you're worthy and were like, what is who?
Speaker 8 (33:40):
Body snatched you? This is what do you mean?
Speaker 3 (33:45):
There's also a cover two, cover zero. There's a lot
of references. She knows what's up.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
She also made a prediction that she was going to
be an analyst in sixteen months.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
Which everybody should fear for their jobs. Justin scrolling your Instagram, you.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
Had a fascinating take about this.
Speaker 3 (33:57):
Would you care to share with the crowd?
Speaker 8 (33:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (33:59):
I think when is the last time the largest pop
star on planet Earth decided to break news on athletes podcast?
I think the way the world of media is changing,
You guys see it. Every single day. Athletes have picked
up the microphone and started sharing their stories. And that's
something that I'm very, very excited about. It's a reason
that I've gotten into this business and the reason I
(34:21):
love it so much is I like to almost flip
this on its head and make players become fans of fans,
and that's what I started doing this year. So that
was just a microcosm of where I see a lot
of this going. Taylor Swift is the biggest name in
the world and she's breaking her album release on New
Heights podcast. That's pretty impressive for the Kelsey brothers. I mean,
that's an all timer right there.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
Oh definitely.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
It felt like a real media moment for sure, and
it was entertaining as well. But if you want media
and entertaining, PEP, you got to make lists. Just make
lists and people will lose their mind. You travel around
Thursday night football doing the tailgates, the restaurants, the food.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
You're way into it and you have a list, So.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Get ready, everybody, fire in the whole justin Peughe's top
five NFL cities for food, Pew. Break the down about
how you've landed here and what was the most controversial reaction.
Speaker 8 (35:08):
I would say Baltimore.
Speaker 11 (35:09):
I would say Baltimore being in there was everyone got
on me for it.
Speaker 8 (35:13):
Went the Jimmy Seafood. We'll get there. I want everyone
to realize this is cities.
Speaker 11 (35:18):
With food, don't I'm not just talking stadium in foods.
Speaker 8 (35:21):
I'm talking about cities in food.
Speaker 11 (35:23):
I'm a bit of surprise, I'm a bit biased, and
number two is probably going to get me a lot
of slack for my New Yorkers. But I would say
New York is the best food in the world. If
you like Italian food, Indian food, Mexican food, even if
you go to those places, you come to New York,
You're gonna have better food.
Speaker 8 (35:39):
That's just my opinion. Everyone's going to go crazy.
Speaker 11 (35:42):
Philadelphia, I would say, is my favorite restaurant in Planet Earth.
It's called Angelo's. The best Cheese Steak and the best Pizza.
Speaker 4 (35:49):
Angelo's.
Speaker 8 (35:51):
You go there Thursday night at the opening night, go
get you some. Angelo's. Line will be around the city block.
Speaker 11 (35:56):
Baltimore Seafood, crab Cakes, It's what we do.
Speaker 8 (36:00):

I missed a three oh five eats and got some
