Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
What's up, everybody, It's Good Morning Football. We're live in
Los Angeles and New York today.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
It's Friday, July eighteenth. I'm jam Yard on me. It's
TODAYO here with me in La.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Kyle Brandt and Chase Ednan's friend of our show, joining us.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
The entire teae. We appreciate you today, Chase Listen, it's
one thing to make the most money in the NFL.
It's another thing to make the most money if you're
not a quarterback. Two times over, Kyle brand.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
We got to talk about a Pittsburgh Steelers today not
named Daron Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Yeah, we got to talk about one that's been there
for a long time and that's going to be there
for a long time.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
Before we even start the show. TJ. Watt in the
news today.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Someone who is very very very very close to TJ.
Watt blew up the New York studios with giant bagel spreads.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
Today.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
We have like fifty different bagels from someone. Again, I'm
not even going to say their name.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
I'm not a name dropper, but they know TJ. Watt
very very well.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
They're a fan of the show, and I'm just chowing
down all morning baby, roll it.
Speaker 5 (01:19):
Good football.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
When I tell you this, I need you to believe me.
I have never been.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Filled with so much rage to start Good morning football.
Kyle branch Is disclosed to us MANSI, Jase Simmons, and
Kyle myself that an entire box of bagels, New York
style bagels were sent to his New York City studio.
And the thing is, whoever that kind hearted, generous soul
is has no concept that Kyle is literally besides a
(01:47):
few producers and audio people, a one man band in
New York, and we are all here in Los Angeles starving.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Kyle, how dare you?
Speaker 4 (01:54):
I'm going to Joey Chestnut this whole box. Guys, they're
all going to be gone at the.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Everything, the Poppy, the sesame, They're all going down. And
it's like it's perfect because TJ. Watt really got paid
all the bagels.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Yes there, right, yeah, yes he absolutely did.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Put yeah, absolutely, Chase Simmons here with us as well.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Mantai, Kyle. We got to get going on this TJ.
Watt thing because he got paid and.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Somehow this is already a segment we did on television
at one point in his career, but here we are
talking about it again. The Steelers star edge rusher received
a record breaking three year, one hundred and twenty three
million dollar extension. Ian Rappaport reported this will make TJ.
Watt again the highest paid defender in the NFL. TJ
posted this photo of himself on Instagram after the news broke.
(02:39):
We too might need Advisor oh Man to block out
and make sure we stay focused on what the Steelers
got going on this season, once again on a non
quarterback list. Highest paid player in NFL history, Mantich, when
you saw this come down the Steelers, we have been
talking all about them up and down, left and right,
but this was kind of that odd thing that we
(02:59):
didn't want to address. Well, the team did, and now TJ.
Watt's there for many years. It'll be much richer because
of it.
Speaker 5 (03:05):
What do you think, Well, first of all, congratulations TJ.
Speaker 6 (03:08):
I mean well deserved.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
His brother j J.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
Watt posted and then put it on X whatever. It
is a well deserved earned. All of that is correct
and I am one guy that really wants players to
get paid. Now, there has to come a time if
you're a player in this league, we have to make
one of two decisions.
Speaker 6 (03:27):
Number one, I'm.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
Either going to make a lot of money or number two,
I'm going to win a lot of Super Bowls. Because
it's very very rare that those two things happen at
the same time. If you think about all the players
that had these big contracts, very rarely do they get
to the playoffs the next year. Very rarely do they
even get to the super Bowl. How many times have
you heard about players quarterbacks? To be specific, Peyton Manning
(03:51):
in twenty fifteen, he took a four million dollar pay
cut to stay in Denver. They took that money and
invested it in their defense that practically won them.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
The Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (04:01):
Yeah, Tom Brady, how many times have we heard Tom
Brady the restructure his deal? In twenty seventeen, he restructured
his deal only to win three Super Bowls in seven years. Like,
there's just there's a trade off here, right. So I'm
all for guys getting paid, but there has to come
a time in our career chase that we look at
things and say, you know, what do I really want?
Do I really want a lot of money? Do I
(04:23):
want more money? Or do I want more Super Bowls?
And I think in this case it's well deserved. But
for the Pittsburgh Steelers, because so much money is going
to a certain guy, it's hard to invest in other
pieces to help you get further in the playoff race
than you've already had already gone in the past few years.
Speaker 7 (04:41):
Chase Man, toot you hit it run in the head
right there, man, And I feel like the Pittsburgh Steelers,
they really had no choice to pay TJ Watt. We
know exactly what he brings to the Steelers team. Before
I even address the TJ Watt contract, first of all,
congratulations to him. I actually want to change it to
the direction of his parents.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
Ms.
Speaker 7 (05:00):
Connie and mister John Watt. Those parents, And speaking of parents,
shout out to my mom sixty seven years old today,
Happy birthday, Mama Totter. I give her a shout out,
and she killed me on air, so.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
I had to do that.
Speaker 7 (05:10):
But I really want to know what is the parent
program or where are y'all feeding or raising those kids,
Miss Kanye and mister John Watt.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Because you got.
Speaker 7 (05:19):
JJ Watt getting paid one hundred million, you got TJ
getting paid one hundred million you got there.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Making it to the NFL.
Speaker 7 (05:25):
I plan on having some children someday, So Miss Kanye,
mister John Watt, please let me know the children raising programs,
so please give me that parents sto. But when you
think about TJ. Watt, he's just the epitome of stealing football, right.
He's mental toughness, defensive tenacity, going after the football at
(05:46):
all times. And what I love about t J Watte
even more is that not only with his sacks and
generating pressures. In the last two seasons twenty twenty three
twenty twenty four, TJ. Watt leaves the NFL and four
stumbles at ken So not only does he get those sacks,
he takes.
Speaker 6 (06:01):
The football away.
Speaker 7 (06:02):
Turnovers are the number one indicator for a ball team
when it comes to wins and losses. And you know
what I stat that I saw as well, was that
the Pittsburgh Steelers pits draft and k J. Watt in
twenty seventeen, when he's not on the field present for
a game, they're one to ten. So I feel like
they had no choice but to pay my man his money.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
No nob and listen, those Watt boys, they're raised Wisconsin strong,
they're from Pelwaukee, Wisconsin. Whatever they feed him, whatever they're drinking,
there is that is a Midwestern strong And I mean,
I can't imagine being the Watt parents and my kid
hits a ground ball up the middle in Little League.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
I feel like he's Mickey Mannle.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
These guys, what they have accomplished is an amazing, amazing thing.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
I like the way this was done. There's something very
steeler about this. TJ.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Watt did not unfollow the Steelers on social he did
not throw a fit.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
And the media. He did not go on a media
tour saying he wants to be traded and he's done
with the Steeler. None of that.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
It was all done in silence and with dignity and
was very Steeler like, which I really like. Here's the story.
Now he got his money.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
He's awesome.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
He's a fantastic player. I love him. He's going to
go to the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
TJ. Watt.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
I think he may already be a Hall of Famer,
but I think he will be definitely by the end
of this contract when they go in, when he goes in,
and they'd be really cool if JJ will already be in.
If JJ inducted him. And when they say ladies and gentlemen,
TJ Wat, what clips are they showing of TJ? And
I don't mean the stripsack, I mean like, what games
is he playing in? What was the stakes of those games?
(07:31):
Were the stakes? Because I don't want to see TJ.
Watt going to the Hall of Fame eight or nine
years from now and he's having a strip sack in
some Week three game against the Browns that nobody cares
or remembers. What I'm getting at is he's got the
huge money. I would really like to see TJ. Watt
now in some huge games, and.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
He usually is not.
Speaker 6 (07:51):
TJ.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
Watt has never won a playoff game.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Not his fault necessarily, it's just a private product of
that this ara of Steelers football. But I love seeing
the greats do great things on great stages. It's time
for the Steelers to win. They got everything they need
in front of him now.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
I think they got the.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Next iteration of their quarterback, they got a new wide receiver,
they got their defensive end, they got their pieces.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
I mean, can we win now?
Speaker 1 (08:16):
Because I love that he's making all this money and
he should. But even his brother JJ like he was
on some very flawed Texans seams, but also some goings
JJ won in the playoffs. He was able to do that,
and it's frustrated him that he ever got to a
super Bowl. But my god, it we got to get
TJ a wild card win. It's just that it's beneath him,
someone of his stature and certainly his compensation now, to
(08:37):
be this many years and he was career going. He
his ninth season without a playoff win. I do think
this is a very wise investment. I don't agree with
anyone who says I don't know TJ. This bitch money
is my best footballs behind. I think that's crazy. We
have an immediate genetic comp He's through eight seasons now.
JJ was having double digit sacks in season twelve for Arizona.
(08:58):
Don't worry about TJ falling off the table or anything
like that. I just think he's gonna be great. He's
obvious paid. It's time for the Steelers to get him
in some huge games when he goes to that Hall
of Fame. I want to see him in the divisional
round or a title game, something becoming a Steeler great
because right now we're just not there.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
Yet and it's time for him to win.
Speaker 7 (09:19):
Yeah, k But you said it completely right man and TJ.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
Watt.
Speaker 7 (09:23):
We all know he's going to get his sacks, he's
going to force his turnovers, he's going to be the
leader on the Steelers defense. I think right now, the
person that he's knocking on the door to solve those
playoff walls problems is Aaron Rodgers, and that's exactly why
they brought Aaron Rodgers in there. So I'm eager to
see really how Aaron Rodgers elevates the Steelers to see
if they can kind of break these playoff goals. They
haven't won a playoff game since twenty sixteen, and I
(09:44):
think he's probably the most exciting quarterback that they've had
since prime Ben Roth Roethlisberger. So that's something I'm definitely
eager to see unfold for this football season.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
There's always expectation when it comes to the Steelers, and
as Kyle always talks about that logo and what it
means for the playoffs, but there's expectation and where as
we've watched over the last couple of years, there's not
really panning out on the expectation and are out living
up to it.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
Now.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
If you look at this depth chart, it is just
stacked with guys that are new to town, that have won.
You've got super Bowl champions on this Steelers roster.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
How do these.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
Guys the Steelers, the organization, Tomlin, you could take it
whatever direction you want, navigate the way that this championship
roster is built because these are highly paid stars. These
are players that have been to the biggest stages. When
there is so much pressure on this coach, this organization,
this brand.
Speaker 6 (10:34):
Well, now it comes to cohesion though, Jamie, you know,
I mean you could talk about the Jets lash year.
Speaker 5 (10:39):
Aaron Rodgers was with to Jets and I had Vante
Adams and you had Garrett Wilson, like you had dogs
over there, you know. So it's the cohesion. You could
have the best pieces, but unless they come together, it's
not going to come to fruition.
Speaker 6 (10:51):
You're not going to.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
Get to Kb's point, to those big games. It's going
to come down to how fast can we come together
as one? I know they're individuals, but how fast can
we come together as one? If you look at this
team and how they're built, what's their idea going into
this season? Just look at what they did in the offseason. Offensively,
you signed j you signed DK Metcalf and Aaron Rodgers
(11:13):
strong strong impressions. But then defensively you go and you
signed Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay, which feels a much
needed hole, a hole that pretty much was the only
weakness of that defense.
Speaker 6 (11:24):
Last year.
Speaker 5 (11:24):
Their past defense really struggled and that was because of
the youth of that.
Speaker 6 (11:29):
Defensive back room.
Speaker 5 (11:30):
Now you have two veterans in there that have one
to your point, Jamie, but then you look.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
At the draft.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
They have seven draft picks, five out of the seven defense.
So they're going back to what made that franchise what
it is, the Steel Curtain. That's a defensive team that's
not an offensive The only time the Steelers really relied
on their offense was when the Killer Bees was over there,
Ben Roethlisberger, A B and Levey on Bell. Other than that,
the Steelers are a defensive team and I think they're
(11:58):
going back to what they were and hopefully that results
in a lot of the wins that they had in
the past. And so Chase, that's what I'm really looking
forward to. When you have all of these pieces come
together as one man.
Speaker 6 (12:09):
That's really a good point.
Speaker 7 (12:10):
And I think what the Pittsburgh Steelers really did, what
their focus was was we all know it starts about
winning your division, right, and that's why they added so
much defensive talent. You're going against Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase T. Higgins,
you got Lamar Jackson and that crazy Baltimore Ravens offense.
So I really think the Pittsburog Steelers tried to hone
in on that defense again. But at the end of
the day, when it comes to the playoffs, man, we
know what it is. Who's going to convert those long
(12:32):
third down conversions, Who's going to stay on the football
field at the end of the day, Aaron Rodgers is
coming in. And they brought Aaron Rodgers in because you know,
the nine and eight typical or ten and seven tough
defense winning those games seventeen to thirteen just isn't going
to get it done anymore when you're talking about winning
a playoff game. So I'm very eager to see exactly
how Aaron Rodgers comes in there and when it's time
(12:52):
to get gritty and it's time to really win those
tough games against Joe Burrow against Lamar Jackson, I Guesst,
possibly Josh.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Allen or Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 7 (12:59):
Aaron Rodgers is going to have to play the form
like Aaron Rodgers usually does, and that's what I'm most
eager to see. With the Pittsburgh Steelers coming up this
football season.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
On the bottom, we say how do we navigate the roster?
I think the most intriguing part of the roster right
now is the backfield. Because remember Najie Harris is gone.
They did not pay him huge money. I don't think
anyone was looking for them to do that. I like Naugy,
but I think that was the right move. So now
you're left with Jalen Warren, who was your number one back.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
Nobody likes Jalen Moore and more than I do.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
I mean, he's never had more than one hundred and
fifty carries in a season. He's always been this guy
who comes in and has a change of pace and
just dominates. That's the guy that lines up behind Aaron Rodgers.
I don't know what kind of running back of Malcolm
is going to be behind him. It's interesting to find out,
but I know this, I don't think that there is
a team in the NFL. Who needs a playoff win
(13:49):
this season more than the Steelers. I mean, I could
point to some other ones. The Dolphins need one, for sure,
There's some other teams around the league that.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
Just like it's time. But I cards on the table.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
At the end of last season, I was on this
network in many other places saying I thought the Steeler
should have made a change the head coach. And I
completely understand the respect for Mike Tomlin, but it's just
starting to feel to me like an Andy Reid in
Philadelphia thing. There's nothing wrong with the Eagles and any
redis needed to separate, and it worked out the best
for both of them. They both landed on new things
and new coaches, and eventually both of them had super
(14:21):
Bowl championships. It's just I still feel like maybe the
message has gone now. Tomlin, since I've said that, and
since the last six months, pulls a rabbit out of
the hat and now has Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback.
But listen, it's the elephant in the room. You mentioned it.
It's ten and seven, nine and eight and losing the wildcard.
That is the joke about the Steelers, and that's also
(14:42):
just the truth about the Steelers that there's a fraternity
of teams in this league, a very small one where.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
Just getting to the playoffs is not enough.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
A lot of these teams, guys, we talk about getting
to the wildcard. Awesome, everybody keeps their jobs, nobody has
to move.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
Sweet we lost in the playoffs, but who gives a damn?
Speaker 1 (15:00):
But there's that small group of teams that that's not enough.
And the Steelers are not only in that group. The
Steelers invented that group. They're the president of that group.
And yet you know, I see the other teams in
that group, be it the Green Bay Packers or now
the Kansas City Chiefs, so like they find a way
to win over the last few years.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
The Steelers just don't.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
So there's a long top. I'm going to talk about
it all offseason.
Speaker 6 (15:22):
TJ.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
White is going to be there. I never thought for
one second he was going up on another team. He's
going to be there. The difference is going to come
down to Rogers and can Tomlin finally get this team
to win in the postseason, because if they don't, it's
just I hate to say it about a team I
respect so much, but it is same old Steelers.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
It's an important thing to level set really in mid July,
because if you look at local Steelers coverage, especially if
things aren't going perfectly at the end of September early October,
oftentimes that's where those conversations will begin to go, is
just to inspect what is going on with the head
coach and the trickle down effect. I find it specifically
fascinating to Kyle's point a year ago he's talking about
(16:01):
Mike Tomlin and just wondering what this brand is about
with this head coach at the Helm. I still wonder
this time last year, we were all rightfully or wrongfully,
so obsessed with Aaron Rodgers coming and being the quarterback
for the New York Jets in his second season obviously,
but his first being healthy.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
We could not get through a show without addressing this.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Kyle, I feel that at times we haven't said it enough,
we haven't talked about it enough. I know other networks
are doing that, but I almost feel more comfortable in
this space the way we have kind of approached Rogers
being with the Pittsburgh Steelers almost like a hands off
We'll wait and see what we got. How do you
feel about the way we have gone about as a collective,
if you will, Rogers being with the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
It's different because the Jets thing was a disaster and
there's a sense of Listen, some people are a little
tired of Rogers. There's a lot of Rogers fatigue. I'll
always say I will always be fascinated by him. I
think he's the most interesting athlete in the world, really,
But it's sounded like I don't know that the Jets thing,
we were promised that we're going to go back to
the super Bowl when that Lombardi looks lonely and then
(17:03):
just bad. So I think there's like a little bit
of collectively in the media and maybe even on our show,
a little bit like there's just some flashier objects somewhere else.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
And also our expectations aren't as high. But maybe that's
a good thing.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Yeah, you got about sixteen flashier objects to your right.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
I understand that you.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Want to get to the bagels, but like at some
point the conversation does have to keep going. When I
said the name Kyle, the panic stricken look on this
man's face that he was going to have to talk
again with poppy scenes in his mouth was a cause
for concern.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
Yeah, well, I was more shocked that we're going for
another follow up at sixteen after and I do have
several copies. He brought me off guard, Jamie, I don't
know what the hell you're doing, but.
Speaker 8 (17:40):
Driving the bus, buddy, driving the bus.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
All right, this season's number one overall pick, cam mort
As Kyle gets back to his shmear, might be the
least talked about number one overall pick in history. We
got buy in or keep trying for this season's rookie
of the Year for the guy where number one in.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
Nashville, Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Heading into the weekend, and we are still thinking about
a conversation we had yesterday with a Tennessee Titan defensive tackle.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Jeffery Simmons came on GMFB.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
And told us that Titans are not getting the respect
they deserve and cam Ward might be the least talked
about number one pick in history. It's fying or keep trying.
Let's take a listen.
Speaker 9 (18:22):
You know, first off, you know I think that our team,
Tennessee Titans, never get to respect and attention we need.
I never seen the number one pick overall never get
the respect. And you know, quite frankly, in a tension
that he deserves.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
All right.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
That gets us into the Rookie of the Year offensively
conversation in twenty twenty five, Man, Tai, are you buying?
Are you going to tell me to keep trying that
cam Ward will be the offensive rookie of the year.
Speaker 6 (18:48):
I'm going to tell you keep buying, keep buying, keep buying,
keep buying. Invested in we're buying.
Speaker 5 (18:54):
Okay, Okay, Who's is buying that he is going to
win Rookie Offensive Player of the Year. I think it's
going to come down to two people, him and Ashon Gente.
Why is it going to come down to those two people?
In my opinion number one skiing and number two usage.
They're going to be used a lot with their perspective
respective teams. But I really think that cam Woard going
into this year, you need to have guys that you're
(19:14):
going to throw the ball to. He has really good guys,
guys that are underappreciated in my opinion, with Calvin Riley,
Tyler Lockett, Treylon Burks, Chiga Kong Quo. These are guys
that can produce for you. Now, when you have a
head coach like Brian Callahan, if you don't know Brian
kallaanan Hand's history, let me take you on a Brian
Callahan history tour. In sixteen to twenty seventeen, he was
in Detroit where he coached Matt Stafford, and both of
(19:37):
those years Matt Stafford through for over four thousand yards.
We hear a lot about Ben Johnson and what he
was able to do in Detroit. Not a lot is
spoken about Brian Callahan, but he was able to help
Matt Stafford that way. He then went to Oakland. When
he went to Oakland, he ran into Derek Carr. Derek
Carr threw for at that time a career high in
passing yards.
Speaker 6 (19:57):
Then he went to Cincinnati.
Speaker 5 (19:58):
And we saw what he was able to do with
Cincinnati and Joe Burrow where they had one of the
best offensive schemes for the Cincinnati Bengals with Joe Burrow
behind center. So when you have a coach like Brian
Callahan and what he can do for the quarterback position,
not only as a coordinator a head coach, but also
as a quarterback coach, usually good things happen for you
(20:20):
as a quarterback with him right by your side. So
I really expect and I'm buying the fact Chase that
cam Ward after twenty twenty five will be the offensive
rookie player of the year.
Speaker 7 (20:31):
I've been on the fence with this one.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
I'm going to lean.
Speaker 7 (20:34):
Towards keep Trying, and I think it's just about that
the Tennessee Titans, I think with the Will Levis experience,
and I'm not saying Will Levis and cam Ward are
the same type of quarterback at all, but I think
they're going to try to crawl before they can walk
with cam Board and just let him lose. I do
believe they'll run the ball a little heavier with Pollard
and Spears in the backfield. I also think that they
still have a little bit of offensive line struggle, just
(20:56):
to Tad when it comes to protecting the quarterback, and
I think that's going to impact the overall effectiveness and
success of that offensive system over there. Really, what it
comes down to me and keep Trying is, man, you
got that guy over in Las Vegas Reds with Ashton Jents,
and I think Ashton Jens is going to touch the
ball a whole lot for that Pete Carroll offense. And
I believe that Ashton's gonna Rucker about twelve hundred yards.
Speaker 6 (21:16):
As long as he stays healthy.
Speaker 7 (21:18):
I think it's really his race to lose, and that's
what I'm going to bank my money on. You know.
That's why I got to go and keep trying with Camelor.
And also just to talk about the first part of
the question of just you know, does Tennessee get the
respect that they deserve? Listen, I love Jeffrey Simmons. He
is an elite interior defender. Jeffrey Simmons is a dog.
He gets all the respect that he deserves around the league.
(21:39):
But last three seasons Tennessee Titans have had losing seasons.
And it's also hard to kind of commend and get
some respect when you just picked number one overall. So
I think that some of that has got to be
earned throughout the season. But that's why we all play
the game. Lina, I think that, right, man, Ti, that's.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
Right, That is right. Well, due respect, Jamie.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
I'm not going to answer this question because I don't
announce my Rookie of the Year in July.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
I'm not going to give you my Super Bowl pick.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Now either, but I will tell you this, I hope
cam Ward wins Rookie of the Year. I'm rooting like
hell for him because of all the things we've been
talking about since the moment he was drafted in the
second that fact that we haven't been talking about it. Guys,
if cam Ward wins Offensive Rookie of the Year at
NFL Honors, they're going to scrap the award and change
it to a practice squad Player of the Year and
give it to Shador Sanders. They'll just change it. They'll
(22:26):
just it doesn't matter. They don't want to recognize. We
don't want to talk about it's not going to happen.
I am listen. I just listen to Chase say, well,
I don't know Ashton jac is going to touch the
ball a lot.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
Cam Ward's going to touch the ball on literally every
single play. I don't want to hear anybody else. This
is the number one pick.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
He's super talented, He's got all the coach team and
I can only stand for this guy enough.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
You know what I need weaponry.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
I would like to reach out to the Tennessee Titans
right now. I would like a powder blue cam Ward
number one jersey.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
You and I go back years.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
We've done a million angry runs I've criticized you when
it's fair, I've hyped you when it's also fair. I
want that jersey. I don't ask for a lot. I
don't want anybody else's jersey in this year. I don't
even want a Scatterboo jersey. I'm fine. I want a
number one cam Ward sky blue jersey, and I will
wear it and I will wield it to support this
man on his quest to when who cares.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
About Rookie of the Year. I want to say when
a playoff.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
Game this year, I'm that much into the Titans and Camward.
So Jamie, respectfully, you know, I will give you my
Rookie of the Year in the beginning of September. I'm
not saying he will, I'm saying I want him to.
I don't play objectivity here.
Speaker 4 (23:34):
It's not what I do. I'm rooting for him to
do it.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
And just like the way that that box of bagels
got delivered to Kyle, we will reroute that jersey maybe
to our La Jersey closet. Okay, you get the bagels
and we'll take that jersey over here, Kyle.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
Because God, it's just so creating, so infuriating.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
God, Like he said, he's high on carbs today, so
he's asking for the moon Tennessee Titans. All right, just
put the postage to the correct studio in New York.
Next up, the Colts put out a video recently of
Daniel Jones throwing a dot as they say, and Anthony
Richardson missed most of Minikamp dealing with a shoulder injury.
So the next topic, and buying or keep trying, is
(24:14):
as follows.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Daniel Jones will have.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
A Sam Donald like resurgence in Indianapolis. When I say
this to you, Manti, are you buying it? Or are
you going to tell me to keep trying or as
you say, keep buying?
Speaker 5 (24:26):
Yeah, Sam Donald type resurgence. Okay, I'm going to say
I'm buying. And the reason why I'm going to say
I'm buying it if you look at Daniel Jones in
his career, what are the two years where he played
his best twenty nineteen, which was his rookie year, and
twenty twenty, which was his contract year.
Speaker 6 (24:42):
Those are two.
Speaker 4 (24:42):
Years where as a player.
Speaker 6 (24:44):
You have a lot to prove.
Speaker 5 (24:45):
And I think going into this year with a new team,
having an opportunity to possibly be the guy for the
Indianapolis coach Daniel Jones is trying to prove a lot
going into this year, and if history is correct, he
usually plays his best, So I think that.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
He will have a really good year.
Speaker 6 (25:04):
Surgeons, that's such a hard comparison. Yeah, it's a Sam
Darnold type thing. That's such a hard comparison.
Speaker 5 (25:10):
But with that offensive scheme, they allow him to utilize
his legs, which is a strength of his. And then
also those offensive reads for him as a quarterback. With
the RPO system that they like to implement over there
is very very quarterback friendly for somebody like him. So
with those three different things, Chase, I think that he will.
Speaker 6 (25:29):
Have a resurgence in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 7 (25:31):
Yeah, man, I like what you said about getting him
to use his legs a little more. If you go
back to when they actually beat the Minnesota Vikings, when
he was the quarterback for the New York Giants and
he had dable call in the plays, he had a
healthy Saquon Barkley running the ball like crazy. I believe
in that playoff gat he ran for like eighty yards
or something like that, and really use his legs to
get them to win. I'm buying all the way on
Daniel Jones actually having a resurgence year. I like Indianapolis.
(25:53):
I think they're really under the radar team. He's got
Jonathan Taylor who's coming off of fourteen hundred yards eleven touchdowns,
so he's already going to take some of the pressure
off of him for himself. And I really actually like
the Indianapolis coach rated receiver room. People say it's like
a middle of the pack. There's no shot man. They
had three receivers last year that had eight hundred yards.
Alex Pierce led the NFL in yards per catch. Going
(26:14):
down the field, you got Michael Pittman, who's a solid,
solid receiver. Josh Doallas might be the most high ceiling
of them all. I love his rout running ability and
just his dynamic ability when he has the football in
his hands. So I'm buying all the way that Indianapolis
actually in which Daniel Jones he's gonna have his resurgence year.
You throw in Tyler Warre and the rookie from Penn State.
I think he's gonna be a great team around in
(26:35):
the surrounding and to give him a good chance to bounce.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
Back, well, I look at the I look at the Colts, and.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
You know they're they're late, they're late.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
Owner Jim Orsay was a big music lover and big
music collector and everything like that. And I think the
Colts are looking at Daniel Jones. And there's certain lyrics
that come to mind where they're like when you try
your best but you don't succeed, when you get what
you want but not what you need. When you feel
so tired but you can't sleep, lights will guide you
(27:05):
home and ignite your bones, and I will try to
fix you. And the Colts just they just they wrapped
their arms around Daniel Jones and they're just they're swaying
to the music and they're having such a good time.
And then all of a sudden, oh my god, we're
in a big game. And they put on camera and
it's oh, look out, look at it to pick six.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
Oh no, no, no, no, I'm sorry. I don't don't look,
don't look, don't look ahead. Ah. They're trying to fix them.
They're trying. I'm they're trying.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
I personally am not yet buying. I'm sorry, I'm gonna
Anthony Richardson guys. Still, I'm not I'm still standing on
that corner. So that's that's all I got. But there's
a lyric. I don't know why that song occurred to
me this week, of all times, but I just feel
like that's what the cults have going on.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
Well, Chris Martin certainly appreciates the shout out and the
direct quote Kyle Brandt. I thought maybe you would have
taken that parallel to like when the spotlight came on
Daniel Jones, he ducked like that guy did in Foxboro
when he was in New York. But now, but like
you could have gone either way. But who's well done?
And I always like when you show us the other
side of the New York Post. So what's the sports
side telling us today?
Speaker 1 (28:17):
It's just some nonsense about the Yankees and Anthony Bolpez
got to get going, But no, we got we got
Dumbotron up here with.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
The incredible middle.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Look at Chris Martin just smiling up at them like
he just knows he just butted them, got them, and
then the back is born.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
This is one of a lot of times I.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
Can't show you the front, yeah, because there'll be some
like horrific thing that happened in the Bronx or whatever.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
But this one.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Everybody's looking at this anyways, you might as well right here,
So go ahead.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
Yeah, those two your favorite posts.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
We're buying the post today. Well done. Remember when you
go to a concert, they might put you on camera.
We'll be right back.
Speaker 6 (28:54):
I'm kissed, all right. I just went over against Kyle Brandt. Yeah,
I went do say, guys, what a KB had? Seven?
Speaker 4 (29:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (29:04):
And zero seven freaking zero?
Speaker 2 (29:07):
All right. It's unfortunately because you said you said yesterday
you're to lock in, and I just think that.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
You did.
Speaker 10 (29:14):
Right a right, Yes, nobody beats sweet good morning?
Speaker 4 (29:30):
What's up? Ready to go your damn y all right.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
So a lot of the segments we do here I
contribute to editorially. This one nothing. I have no idea
where it's coming from. I don't know why it's coming
this graphic. That intro is amazing. Uh man Ti, apparently
you want to beat me in trivia. I'm real, really
nervous about this, and I am even more so after
(30:07):
that intro. So I don't know the topic. I don't
care about the topic. Mantid. The topic could be the
life and times of Manti Tail and I would still win.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
But what are we doing? Your guys, take it away.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Manti did get to pick the genre of trivia today. Manti,
you don't know the questions obviously, but what is the theme.
Speaker 6 (30:24):
So the theme is twenty ten players. Okay.
Speaker 5 (30:27):
I wanted to make sure it was at a point
where I didn't want to lay.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
Up because if I if I win this, or when
I win this.
Speaker 6 (30:32):
I want to know that I accomplished this.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
I didn't just get a handout players in the NFL
of the twenty tens twenty ten, twenty tens. Okay, I
have some questions. Chase Edmonds had some questions.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
Here we go.
Speaker 6 (30:42):
Let's go.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
The goal at hand is to beat to Kyle Brandt.
Here we go.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
I'm really nervous.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
Both of the guys have their whiteboards in front of them.
It will be multiple choice. They will write their answers
they have They have fifteen seconds on the clock to
write their answers.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
They must reveal it at the same time.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
Okay, cool, Okay.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Which running back led the NFL in rush yards in
the two thousand tents twenty ten to twenty nineteen. You
have a Adrian Peterson, b Marshawn Lynch see Lashawn Shady
McCoy or D Frank Gore. How do I feel like
I'm taking the SATs seconds on the clock and show
(31:20):
your answers both agree that it is se se Sean coy.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
You are both correct.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
It is Sean McCoy who had ten four and thirty
four rushing yards in the twenty tens, just followed by
Gore who's down at nine seven and eighty six. McCoy
led the NFL in rush yards just one time though,
in twenty thirteen, which just means you asked a ton
of yards over the rest of the years, and that
is Shady McCoy. That is the correct answer in the
(31:51):
twenty tens running backs, all right, pit Pitt, just everybody
knows Chase Simmons. We do have a tie breaker, so
you're up. Ask your question, my friend.
Speaker 7 (31:59):
All right, Dan, I'm a big underdog guy.
Speaker 6 (32:03):
Let's go here we go.
Speaker 7 (32:05):
Who is the only NFL player to a mass over
one hundred sacks during the twenty tens? A Justin Houston,
b JJ Watt, D Chandler Jones or D von Miller.
Speaker 4 (32:23):
Lock In Manti.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
I didn't know it's gonna be football, Manti. I thought
you would have chosen something you could beat me at,
like I don't know way Hawaiian delicacies or something.
Speaker 4 (32:31):
In football, like this is going to be easy. I
got mine ready, all right, guy.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
And reveal.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
All right we have we have two different answers. Manti
thinks I know I got it wrong.
Speaker 6 (32:44):
Be Chase that Chase did the little expression.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
The answer is von Miller. D Miller has ten more
sacks than anybody else on that list. Chandler Jones and
JJ Watt both tied for second with ninety six sacks
in the twenty tens, and von Miller, by the bye,
currently leads all HACKTI players with one hundred.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
And twenty nine and a half.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
So next play, call it now, hope was for a tie.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
Now, now that he's bleeding, we can call it guys, next.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Place you knocked him out there he's doing the stumble
back the stumble backwards.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
All right, here we go. Question three, very nervous.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
There is only one offensive player who was named first
team All Pro by the Associated Press five times in
the twenty tens, which matches four defensive players who had
just as many seasons in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
So it happens a lot defensively.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
But it only happened one time for an offensive player
to be named First team All Pro five times lifetime.
Did Gronk do it? Rob Gronkowski? Did Zach Martin do it?
Was it Joe Thomas or Calvin Johnson?
Speaker 4 (33:50):
This is a challenging question.
Speaker 6 (33:51):
This is a challenging question.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
Challenging question. This is the first time I'm not totally certain,
But as always, Jamie, I know how the GMFB producers work.
Speaker 4 (34:02):
I'm ready with min an answer.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
Reveal.
Speaker 4 (34:05):
Gentlemen, let's go.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
First of all, that's a hilarious way that screen works out.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
You say, Joe, he says Thomas. You are both correct.
Let's go Thomas.
Speaker 4 (34:15):
You try to trick me, Try to trick me.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Joe Thomas one of actually just six players in NFL history.
This goes beyond the twenty tens to make a Pro
Bowl in each of their first ten career seasons. So
Joe Thomas an absolute legend of Hall of Famer and
a friend of our show and the network in Germany.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
Joe Thomas is the answer to that question. Well done.
Speaker 5 (34:35):
Every little sneaky, A little sneaky putting my boy Zach
Martin In there.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
That's a little Chase, you are up.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
I don't get any wrong. You got to hope I
bleed at some point. This is just on. This is
batting practice, right now.
Speaker 5 (34:48):
Okay, all right, Chase, come on, Chase, don't curb.
Speaker 11 (34:54):
Which of these players did not lead the NFL at
receiving yards in any season in the twenty twins twenty tens,
Michael Thomas, Josh Gordon, g Y Hilton or DeAndre Hopkins?
Speaker 1 (35:11):
All right, well, I know Josh Gordon did it, at
least I think he did. Tee why, I mean, Michael
Thomas was can't guard Mike?
Speaker 4 (35:19):
But d Hot all right.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
And reveal your answer. And three to two one we
got Kyle. What's your say? Oh, D hop says hop Okay,
so Kyle picks day, Mike.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
T you pick a Kyle is correct?
Speaker 8 (35:36):
It is d DeAndre Hopkins, despite practice, despite not leaving
the NFL in any of the seasons in the twenty tens,
d hop had the sixth most receiving yards with eighty
six hundred and two in the span, more than any
of the other three guys.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
Jamie, I'm changing my name from Kyle Brandt to Kyle
schwore Birth. I'm just sitting five bombs like this is
not but you know what, I'm a gentleman and I'm
a teammate. So even though i have a two point lead, right, yeah,
how many questions we got?
Speaker 6 (36:08):
How a good questions?
Speaker 3 (36:09):
One left?
Speaker 4 (36:11):
Left? All right?
Speaker 1 (36:11):
Why don't we make this a money ball so Manti
has a chance to win?
Speaker 6 (36:15):
Okay, Oh, don't don't do don't, don't, don't don't don't don't.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
Yeah, yeah, we got it.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
Last question, I have a two point lead, make it
worth three?
Speaker 3 (36:21):
Right, yep, we're three points all right.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
Manti Tayo made his NFL regular season debut on September
twenty ninth, twenty thirteen.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
He helped the Chargers knock off the Dallas Cowboys that day.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
The song that topped the Billboard chart that week was
surely on Manti's three game playlists. Was It a Roar
by Katie Perry, b Wrecking Ball by Miley cyrus Ce,
Summertime Sadness by Lana del Rey, or d Red by
Taylor Swift.
Speaker 4 (36:52):
Okay, this is like a KD. How much time we got?
Speaker 2 (36:56):
You got about ten seconds left and I'm ready justification
for any answer. You have about five to ten seconds
to explain yourself. Everybody reveal Manti, why did you pick that?
You have any logic or reasoning?
Speaker 5 (37:07):
Because I feel like roaring right now, So that's why
I picked a roar by Katie Perry.
Speaker 6 (37:11):
So that's the only reason.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
Kyle, Well, I feel like my drawing to a wrecking
ball strain house Tayo with authority and destruction. Jamie, I
don't even know this is, sir, and yet I kind
of know it's right.
Speaker 4 (37:26):
Tell me right now.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
I mean he came in like an absolute champion today.
Kyle Brandt is correct, it is b wrecking Ball.
Speaker 4 (37:35):
Yeah, I just dropped the perfect game. That's what I
do perfect.
Speaker 1 (37:41):
I get up the side of the extras.
Speaker 4 (37:45):
Yeah, that is it.
Speaker 5 (37:46):
That is it.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
Miley Cyrus sitting on the wrecking Ball coming in.
Speaker 4 (37:50):
Thank you. You don't understand.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
It was just shocking.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
It wasn't a long run for Wrecking Ball in September
of twenty thirteen because Royals with my Lord was he
came in right the next week.
Speaker 6 (38:03):
So the Lord in my life right now, That's what
Anti Teo.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
Did his best.
Speaker 2 (38:07):
But unfortunately I think we've stumbled into a second brother
beat Kyle Brandt at Trivia.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
Anti you hit a couple of shots against Jordan.
Speaker 4 (38:15):
You know you hit a couple of shots. It was respectable.
We'll do it again anytime you want, anytime you want, Buddy, I.
Speaker 5 (38:20):
Love you as he's really got to be continued to
be continued.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
I didn't miss one, damn question. Come harder next time.
Let's go
