Speaker 3 (00:13):
Let me tell you something. We're live in LA in
New York. It's like eighteen. Jamieard All, Manta, Tao, Kyle Brand,
Chase Edmonds joining us on the show for the entire hour.
And Kyle, I am actually surprised that you yourself are
not lying on the ground in New York studio in.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
A big ol coma if you will, because.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
You were gifted carbohydrates today and I know that you
have no willpower when it comes to the circle carbohydrates.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
No, but I've burned off a lot of Carrie's calories
rather carry In the last segment, Chase, listen, you've been
sitting there like a gentleman watching the show, watching us.
How do you feeling this morning? And I want you
to talk for the show open.
Speaker 4 (00:50):
I'll cially good man, I atle blessed. I appreciate you
guys always having on this show. It's fun to be
around you guys. Manti, I hope I can come around again.
Maybe I'll avenge your loss in the trivia KB you
kind of gave away to krypt Night, a little bit,
get a little youthful, get some slang in this some turns.
Speaker 5 (01:05):
I think I could get you a first n.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
OL Avengers go GMFD go off Friday. Start the show.
Good Morning Football.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
That's right, Good morning football. Everybody, welcome in. Before we
hit the weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
We just want to make sure we run through every
topic in the NFL to make sure we are covered
before kind of everyone starts reporting to training camps. We're
flirting with training camp season. It is upon us and
we have three and out that is upon us as well.
On the show, you are going to hear from the
Charges head coach right now is the Chargers are the
sole team to have already reported to.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Their training camp. We're waiting on the rest of the
thirty one to click in.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
And Jim Harbaugh talked to media about his excitement, shocking,
his excitement for training camp, and of course his excitement
for his quarterback Justin Herbert.
Speaker 6 (02:04):
Exciting.
Speaker 7 (02:05):
It's uh emotional, just really fired up. And uh, I
just keep keep telling myself, Uh, you know, mind over
nervous system. Uh, my mind is smarter than my nervous system.
It's emotional in a great way. It always is the
first day. Boom, here we go. It's a homecoming. You know,
(02:25):
I mean all the all the best words in the
English language. I mean I associate to UH to the
first day of football. You know, it's being reborn. Someone
think it's January first. You know, those are espouse to Catholicism,
Christianity would think it's the birth of christ Us in football,
it's the first day of training camp.
Speaker 8 (02:42):
Homecoming.
Speaker 7 (02:44):
Get this big localmoke, this big blue machine, you know,
move it. I think Justin's biggest weaknesses those around those
around him that he's counting on on offense, US coaches
and UH and and playmakers and and and players on offense.
We gotta we got to get to UH. We gotta
get to Justin Herbert's level.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
The segment can only be sixteen minutes to get to
all the words in the English language that Jim Harbaugh
can parallel to his feelings about the start of training camp.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
But we'll do our best. Harbaugh back in full force.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Man, say, when you hear coach waxing poetic about Herbert
and what he has to do that everyone else has
to get on his level, how does that make you
feel about the Chargers.
Speaker 8 (03:23):
Well, first, I want to get on Jim Harball's level.
Speaker 9 (03:25):
Yeah, but how can you not listen to that guy
and know that he loves football? Like if I was
coached by him, I would just it would be such
a dream. However, the question is is what is my
reaction to his comments about Justin Herbert. Now, I do
agree that we all want to look at the guys
on our team, whether it's Justin Herbert Khalil Mack as
those examples, but I also think that this responsibility does
(03:48):
fall on in Justin Herbert's laugh, Like, if you are
a leader on this team, if you're somebody who has
looked to for guidance and leadership, you're the guy that
has to go out there and set that precedence with
your teammates. You're the guy that has to go the
extra mile the leadership. The leaders on a team are
the ones who have to bear the heaviest weight.
Speaker 8 (04:07):
Justin Herbert is that leader on his team.
Speaker 9 (04:09):
So how many times have we heard of quarterbacks taking
their teammates in the offseason beyond OTAs, beyond mini camp,
beyond training camp, outside of all of that, and taking
them on trips. You know you heard about Tom Brady,
I think he took his teammates, like Edelman them to
like a ranch in Montana, hu taking them over there.
You had Russell Wilson at a certain point in his
career taking his teammates to MAUI like, there's so many
(04:32):
different occasions and examples of these leaders that you're trying
to instill their DNA and their excellence into their teammates.
It also falls on the individual. So I am in
full agreement with coach that you got to find a
way to make guys play up to that level. But
it's also on the leader in Justin Herbert himself to
(04:52):
kind of establish that chase going forward.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Man, tell you're right, man, I hear heavy is the
head that where's the crowd?
Speaker 5 (04:58):
I believe is what they call it.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
And when you get paid all the money, you're in
the star quarterback of the team, if it really falls
on your shoulders.
Speaker 5 (05:05):
One thing that Jim Harborough.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
Did say that I actually really spoke to me was
he said, you know, it's mind over system. And I
think what Jim Harbor really is doing is he's actually
trying to appease to his quarterback and he's trying to
fix this narrative a little bit we all know in
the national media narrative right now, Justin Herbert.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
He gets it done through the regular season.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
He's got all the intangibles, he's got the arm strength,
he's got the accuracy, he can even run. But then
it gets to the big game and for whatever reason,
he tends to struggle a little bit.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
I'm a Justin Herbert stand so I'm one of the
biggest Justin Herbert fans.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
I would love to see the brother really go in
and get to the playoffs and take that next step
and get him to a division round, get him to
a conference championship. But I believe actually what Jim Harborough
is doing a little bit, he's doing a little bit
of his reverse pside college you kind of okay, you know, guys,
I need you guys to step up an extra notch
and help this quarterback out. Really ease his mind a
little bit, play to his level, play at his standard.
(05:59):
So I see where Jim Harboro's coming from it. But again,
man Ty, you're right, heavy is the head that worthday crown.
And at the end of the day, Justine Herberts, you
got to find a way to get it done. When
it matters most.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
I think we as a show this season need to
keep a continued log of Jim Harbaugh's comments and sound bites,
and we need to do a kind of running thing
about what is the leader who has the belt? What
quote has the belt? Right now? Out of the gates
that was recorded yesterday, July seventeenth, he's talking about locomotives,
(06:27):
the birth of Christ, and altering the calendar in our
minds that we live by as humans. That right now
is the clubhouse leader because it's really the first one
for Jim Harbaugh's soundbites. So I'm week from now or
five months from now, I want it to be unseated
and we will have a running champion of the most
Jim Harbach comments. But that's the one they're gunning for
right now. Birth of Christ and locomotives and all that stuff.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Kyle, agree with you.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
I actually wrote down at the bottom of my notes
aday mind.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Over nervous system.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
I thought that was connected, but like somehow you can
overpower something that is legitimately connected inside of you.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
That's what we're working with today, Coach, and we love that.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Well.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
It's a great point.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
We will continue, we will keep our chapter book if
you will for harbor.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Isms second down of three and out.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Last year's NFC North champions, the Detroit Lions are high
on their new coordinators. They were hopeful, if you will,
they're tight end. Sam Laporta sat down with someone you know,
Kyle Jim Rome, to discuss new offensive coordinator John Morton,
and he said, quote, he is a brilliant mind, and
I think he's going to call a great offense. It's
a Laporta said about his new OC. Here's a question,
(07:30):
who do you think is the top football.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
Mind right now, right now?
Speaker 9 (07:36):
So my mind immediately went to Andy Reid and the
Kansas City Chiefs. But I was watching the Sps and Shane.
If you haven't seen Shane Gillis and Drewski's little dialogue
about the tush push, it is some of the some
of the funniest things I've seen in a long time.
So I'd have to go at Nick Sirian, And the
reason being is there is no play in the NFL
(07:58):
that can't be beat, but now there's one, and it's
called the toush push. If you're the curator of that play,
I don't know. Jamie k b has there ever been
a play that has been put up to take like
other coaches be taking it now?
Speaker 3 (08:11):
It was was it done so immediately after the play
went into effect?
Speaker 8 (08:14):
This is a great question exactly.
Speaker 9 (08:15):
So for me, it's gonna be Nick Sirianna because of
that singular play that just you can't seem to beat it.
Speaker 8 (08:21):
Chase, I gotta go with Nick Sirianni.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
And you know what, Mantid, I'm gonna stay on the
same team as you, but I'm actually gonna go to
the Triple og the Godfather Vic Fangio, and I started
to look at Vic Fangil, Yes, I started to look
at Vic Fangil's track.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
I'm looking.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
He just looks like an Italian mob bass, like a Don.
And what he did to the Philadelphia Eagles I think
might be the biggest reason they actually won the Super
Bowl last year. In twenty twenty three, if you guys remember,
they were ranked thirtieth in points allowed per game.
Speaker 5 (08:49):
Vic Fangil, they.
Speaker 6 (08:50):
Called it Don.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
They caught a god Bah, they got a nasty mess
they got to clean up. They call him. He turns
it around. Their second in points allowed first, and total
defense first and passing defense. They literally go from a
bottom five defense to a top two defense in one
season from Vic Fangio. And you look at just about
how long he's been in the game and his track
record of excellence. I mean, when he was in Chicago
(09:12):
from twenty fifteen to twenty eighteen, I'm pretty sure he
was named AP Assistant.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
Coach of the Year.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
He also led a resilient forty nine ers defense from
twenty eleven to twenty fourteen. Now that defense also had
like three or four Hall of Famers on it. But
the point is he's the guy call their defenses man.
When people have a problem, they call Vic Fangio. I'm
going to say that he's the best mind in football
right now.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
That's a good answer. I like that. I like a
coordinator like that. He just found his niche and he
is so good at that up in that booth. But
I mean, I go with the head coach, and you
know this, Jamie, My answer to all these questions is
always the same guy. It's Sean McVay. I think he's
the best coach in the league. Pund for pound, I
think he's the best football mind in the league. Pound
for pound, Sean McVay is the coach to me, is
how you would describe a baseball player as a five
(09:54):
tool player. He can do everything. He can do all
the really intricate x's and o's and schemes. He can
do the motivational stuff. He can do the leadership stuff.
He can make the tough to sy like firing coaches
after a pretty successful season, like trading Jared Goff. We
went to a super Bowl where he can do all
of that stuff. The guy's been to a Super Bowl
with two different quarterbacks. He's a super Bowl champion. He
(10:17):
damned near unseated the Eagles last year when they were
a complete juggernaut and by far the best team in
the league, and he was one play away from doing
it in the snow in Philadelphia. I just think I'll
always until something dramatically different changes. John McVay to me,
is the best coach, the best mind, and it's he's
number one. It's good.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
It's a good list right now, and I think Eagles
fans would be thrilled to hear two of their guys
in that commentary. All right, third down, I'm just gonna
buy everybody time.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Get your whiteboards, because.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
You have a top five list, and I have a
tee up that you have to rank. Okay, so yesterday
Kyle had a hot take. It was one of Kyle's takes,
really that step. People on the internet were not thrilled
about regarding Superman.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Let's review.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Is Superman even a top ten superhero? Like? What are
we doing with Superman here? Like? Is he even up
there on the power rankings? Could there be a more simplistic,
boring superhero with no real vulnerability, no weakness save for
some fragments out in the galaxy somewhere. Let me tell
you about Superman. Okay, he lands on Earth. He immediately
(11:19):
gets the great fortune of being adopted by this wonderful,
warm carrying farm family who raises them beautifully in America.
Next thing, you know, he gets a job in media
in Metropolis, like out of nowhere. I don't know how
he has his own byline. Immediately he has his own
house out in the icelands that his dad set him
up with. I don't think he based property taxes on
the fortress of solitude. Like he is all given to
(11:40):
him and he's all powerful.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
All right, you know how we do it on this show.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
We got our whiteboards, Arts and craft hour, We have
our reveal panels and we got an eraser in case
you want to change your answers.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
But you can't now rank.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
Your top five superheroes, Manta, you get to go first.
Speaker 8 (11:53):
I got to go first, So first up, I got
number five.
Speaker 9 (11:56):
I got Thor. Okay, so Thor is number one again.
Tell me that you look at Chris Hemsworth and Thor
and was like, man, I wish I was freaking Thor.
Speaker 8 (12:03):
That's number one.
Speaker 9 (12:04):
Number four Black Panther, now Black Panther to me, I
really love Black Panther.
Speaker 8 (12:10):
You know, rest in peace at Chadwick Boseman.
Speaker 9 (12:13):
One of the best roles that I've ever seen portrayed
on screen. Just the honor the culture displayed there.
Speaker 8 (12:21):
I gotta go with Black Panther. Now. Number three iron Man.
I think it's so.
Speaker 9 (12:26):
Underrated what Robert Downey Junior did with Iron Man, Like
he really brought that character to life. One of my
all time favorites. Number two. Now you heard me yesterday
about Batman, but specifically Dark Knight KB. You can't tell
me that the Dark Knight trilogy was not one.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Of the best trilogies, including those.
Speaker 9 (12:46):
Villains man like Bain, Tom Hardy and then you got
the Joker with Heath Ledger, rest and peace like the
Dark Knight trilogy was the best. Now, that's but not
least a spider Man.
Speaker 8 (12:56):
Now.
Speaker 9 (12:56):
The only reason spider Man is number one on my
list is because one of my favorite human beings, my
son Cairo, his favorite superhero is Spider Man. And every
time we go somewhere, look at my little man. Every
time we go to like some fair, he always chooses
the Spider Man paint as a face paint. And so
he's one of my favorite human beings. And because he
(13:17):
is one of my favorite human beings, I'm gonna use.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
This couple different days that Kiro.
Speaker 9 (13:23):
Spider Man multiple different festivals, and guys, it's possibly the
worst way to spend fifteen dollars.
Speaker 8 (13:29):
Okay, yeah, I love it.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
There's there's syrup.
Speaker 8 (13:35):
I got you MENTI.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
We went three for five on our so with me
number five, I'm trying to be like you. I'm gonna
go with Jack Jack Incredible.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Yes, Yes, I love Jack Oh Jack Jacks Off.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
You can fly, a catch.
Speaker 6 (13:49):
A little fire.
Speaker 5 (13:50):
You gotta be the man. You gotta be in top five. Okay,
number four, I gotta go with Batman.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
I agree.
Speaker 5 (13:56):
With you. Manti to me if you can walk around
with strep Road and.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
Still just do whatever you want to do, save godam Night,
defeat Joker, bang off your streets. Also with the top
five movies, I think Batman has the best movie collection
out of any superheroes that there is, So I'm gonna
go Batman.
Speaker 5 (14:11):
NU.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
Before number three, I had to show some love to
the woman of the world.
Speaker 5 (14:15):
I'm a girl dad, so I went Scarlett witch Nice.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
I think that when I saw Avengers Infinity War and
I saw Scarlett Witch one destroy the Infinity still over
her hands and then dam Near killed Finos an endgame
by him by herself, I said.
Speaker 5 (14:30):
Yeah, she's got to get some love. Number two for
the coach.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
I'm going Black Panther. Gonna go Black Panthers. I love
Chadick Boseman as well.
Speaker 5 (14:39):
Rest in Peace.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
I think Black Panther is just the man Wukanda Forever.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
And then number one, iron Man.
Speaker 8 (14:46):
It has to be iron Man.
Speaker 5 (14:48):
That it always has to be iron Man. You look
at what he's done, what he's done with that character.
Tony Stark as demand, Robert Downey's the man, and we
wouldn't even be here right now. If he didn't really
take the Infinity Stones and give his life up and
Tom sacrifice.
Speaker 8 (15:01):
I gotta go Iron Man.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Spoiler alert, Go ahead, Kyle, we got I do it.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
We gotta do a whole other segment called ranking top
five superheroes for the culture. I'm in on that one.
And by the way, I'll start with mine, all right,
but to that point. Number five, I have blank Man.
Learn about blank Man Kids. And by the way, this
is my cover up here I was. It was made
by producer Riley here in New York. Blank Man is
played by Damon Wayns and a moving way back in
(15:24):
the nineties.
Speaker 8 (15:25):
It's hilarious.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
Number four in My Superheroes, I have Coldplay Frontman Chris
Martin for outing infidelity and wrongdoing in the big City.
That's what superheroes are supposed to do. Root out evil
Chris Martin. Number three myself with Trivia watch Last Hour.
It was I was all the superheroes put together, all right, now, listen,
I went with the Incredibles too, But you know who
(15:48):
I messed with. Oh baby, give me that Alasta Girl.
I love a Lasta girl. I love Alasta Girl. I
love she's a great mother. She got all kinds of
other great assets. I'm way into it. And number one
I'm gonna go with again Coldplay front man Chris Martin
makes the list twice because he's doing the right thing.
(16:09):
It's like, you know, they put up the bat signal. Well,
he put up the old signal to bam right there,
like a death ray and they were just frozen. So
Chris Martin, my man clocks fix you trouble the scientists.
People want to make Oh look we got a picture
and everything. People want to make fun of cold Play.
Hell no, there was some hot play going up there
(16:29):
in the rafters and see him founded. That's what superheroes do.
That's what they do.
Speaker 8 (16:34):
And I'm proud of my man cap. Show this thing again.
Show me yours, show me yours?
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Yeah, where'd you get this cover up?
Speaker 6 (16:40):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (16:40):
This thing? Yes, Producer Riley made it for me.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Super is that man that's kb the Cave?
Speaker 5 (16:47):
What is.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
Trivia Man?
Speaker 8 (16:50):
Trivia Holy Hill.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Trivia Man, Trivia Troops Bagel Man?
Speaker 3 (16:56):
Alright, all right, that's a top five superheroes.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
All right, welcome, this was a dude. Episode two. You
very well may know the superstars from Yesteryear, but I'm
not sure you know the shooting stars whose careers were brilliant,
but for whatever reason, brief last episode we did Barry
Foster from the Steelers a running back. And today I'm
very excited to talk about this dude, my man, Rob Moore,
(17:25):
wide receiver. You see him there in the Cardinals uniform.
Speaker 8 (17:28):
We'll get to it.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Rob Moore was in the supplemental draft of nineteen ninety
draft number one overall out of Syracuse, where he had
a degree in psychology. Fan favorite wide receiver for the Jets,
and Boomer Assiacin loved them. Let's look at the nineteen
ninety four season of Rob Moore with the Jets. There's
Boomer in that beautiful seventy fifth anniversary patch. Rob Moore
at a thousand yards in this season seventy eight catches,
(17:51):
extremely productive, but as was usually the case, the team
was not very good. They did not make the playoffs,
and yet despite that, Rob Moore was a Pro Bowler.
Rob Moore went to the Pro Bowl, which is a
big deal because Rob Moore is one of three Jets
wide receivers to make the Pro Bowl in the last
thirty five years, him, Keyshawn and Brandon Marshall. So he's
(18:13):
doing really well for the Jets. He's a pro bowler,
he's excellent. Boomer loves him. And yet Draft Night nineteen
ninety five a massive trade, a trade in which Rob
Moore was traded for Ron Moore and a first round pick.
So now he's in Arizona. This has been ninety five season,
a year later, and he was excellent again. This is
(18:35):
against the Cowboys rather the Lions. He's catching passes from
Dave Craig, a very good receiver, not the top of
the heap yet, not putting astronomical numbers yet, but he
is balling out. He's a big factor and you knew
him back if you're watching footballs in the ninety now.
This is interesting because around this time, Cameron Crowe, the
writer director that he knew from singles and say Anything,
(18:58):
he wants to make a movie about football. He goes
to the NFL offseason owners meetings and he meets a
guy in the Cardinals named Tim McDonald. Cameron Crowe becomes
closer to the Cardinals organization. He goes to the facility,
it hangs out, and he ends up making Jerry McGuire
with Rod Tidwell, based on Rob Moore the show me
the Money. Rod Sidwell, That Rod Sidwell, it's number eighty five.
(19:21):
It's not Rob, it's Rod, and he becomes the de
facto model for the Academy Award winning performance of Koopba
Gooding Junior. Rob Moore, the guy from the Supplemental Draft,
and in fact, the third act game in Jerry McGuire
with Tom Cruise, Cowboys versus Cardinals was shot for real
on Christmas Night nineteen ninety five. This is Cowboys Cardinals,
(19:45):
the Troy Aikman Cowboys. Still they would go on to
win the Super Bowl. But Rob Moore is out there
and he had Dion chasing him around and Dave Craig
still chucking it to him. The cool thing was a
lot of the shots used in the movie were from
the real game and Rod Tidwell's we watch a Nis
Williams run right to Canton, Rod Tidwell's eighty five and
you see him on the field is actually Rob Moore,
(20:06):
the guy who used to be on the Jets. So
the movie comes out. He's sort of infamous from it
because it was such a massive hit. So the movie's
not ninety six. Let's go to the ninety seven season.
Rob Moore, What do you do following the success of
that huge movie in your likeness, Well, you lead the league.
You dominate. Understand this. Rob Moore, who was a dude,
(20:27):
was on a really bad four and twelve Cardinals seam.
This is a Jake Plumber team, but Moore was sensational.
He gets targeted two hundred and eight times. Two hundred
and eight times. That is the most ever since they
started tracking targets. He's on top of two Hall of famers.
Just for his sake of comparison. This past season, Jamar
(20:49):
Chase was targeted one hundred and seventy five times. Not
in Rob Moore's stratosphere. He had an incredible, incredible season
and still stands in that record. He went for ninety
nine receiving yards a game in a terrible season for
the Cardinals, but a great one for him. Naturally, as
often happens in the segment, injuries started to creep in,
there would be nagging ones. Rob Moore's legacy would be
(21:13):
he is a guy who tortured Jets and Cardinals fans
remember as being really good on teams that were not.
After retiring, Rob Moore got into coaching and it is
a very cool deal that Rob Moore has found himself
for years now in the NFL. Res Rob Moore was
a wide receivers coach for the Titans, all right, But
it's what's really cool is this guy we've just been
(21:34):
chronicling for the last few minutes is now the current
wide receivers coach for the Carolina Panthers. He is on
the sideline there. He is with Tetro McMillan, the first
round pick of the Panthers. He will be on Dave
Canalis's staff. Those of you who know will remember Rob
Moore and you will see him on the sideline of
a very promising Panthers team this year. It's a cool story.
(21:56):
It's a cool way that it started in the nineties
and he's now still involved in the NFL. But those
of us who were back there, and maybe those of
you who are learning now, must remember that back in
the day, Rob Moore, this was a dude.
Speaker 8 (22:10):
We'll be right back on.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Morgan Money football.
Speaker 6 (22:19):
We're in the NFL. Lea, now, you gotta touch bones.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
You gotta touch Bone's scoring three?
Speaker 6 (22:24):
What you think school? That's his fast? His I like
it strike that thing. Oh, come on, pay attention. You
only got one. Come on, go agat, go again. Come on,
hurry on. Yeah, I see you, banger, I see you.
Speaker 8 (22:37):
Boy to have fun with it.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
I see you.
Speaker 6 (22:41):
Feel stop walking them up field.
Speaker 4 (22:44):
Oh we got discipline, we got discipline, We got discipline.
Speaker 10 (22:48):
Yeah yeah, having fun.
Speaker 6 (22:53):
Football must be fun. Baby.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
If you're tired, that's okay, okay, I'll see you two cities.
Speaker 6 (22:59):
I see you.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Entering his seventh year, like Jeffrey Simmons is on the
Titans defense, he's not entering a contract here, so all
of a sudden, he's becoming a vocal leader. That is
a rookie, and he's already sounding like a defensive leader
for the Tennessee Titans heading into his first season in
the NFL. It's our new friend of the show, Titan
second round pick femi Ola Dayso what's going on?
Speaker 6 (23:23):
Appreciate?
Speaker 2 (23:24):
How about that mic up experience for you? Is the introduction?
Speaker 6 (23:27):
Yeah, I was good, I was real good.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
You will look like you're fitting right in in Tennessee. Now,
that doesn't look like it's an act. That looks like
that's exactly who you are as a player on the field.
What's this transition been like for you so far?
Speaker 6 (23:43):
The transition has been great.
Speaker 10 (23:45):
I always say it's been real natural, honestly, and I
credit my coaches in college and just a lot of
my mentors I had growing up.
Speaker 6 (23:52):
So I'm really grateful.
Speaker 10 (23:53):
Uh, coaching staff is great, players are great.
Speaker 6 (23:57):
Everybody's great. So I'm really excited.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
That's cool, Kyle, you sound excited all the way here
in New York. Dude, I'm the giant head behind you,
the Wizard of Oz as we watch these incredible highlights.
Thank you for joining us on the show. Dude, it's
really cool to see you. I know you're there in
so cal I also know you had to go through
the very rare middle of the season position switch UCLA,
going from middle linebacker to edge rusher. How was that
(24:22):
and how do you think it's going to.
Speaker 6 (24:23):
Help you in the league.
Speaker 10 (24:25):
Once again, I think it was pretty natural, honestly, just
coming from a background of playing a lot of positions
in Pop Warner and even high school. So I think
it was the best move obviously for me, but I
think in the NFL it will help me just my
mindset in general, being able to develop a sense of
what quarterbacks want to do when with the offensive coordinators
(24:46):
to run and just knowing football. I feel very good
in my confidence just knowing football in general and making plays.
Speaker 9 (24:54):
Yeah, we're talking about transition, bro. And you mentioned somebody
a mutual friend, Marcus Williams. Shout out to Marcus. We
drafted him in New Orleans out of the University of Utah,
but you're trained at his facility MW athletics. What has
that experience been like you and preparing you for this
next chapter in your career.
Speaker 6 (25:09):
It's been great.
Speaker 10 (25:10):
It's my first college off season. They put them up there,
my first or sorry NFL off season, and we talked
on the phone a few weeks ago and he told
me that the trainers there would give me in prayer
for strength and condition and just being able to run
and be in shape.
Speaker 6 (25:26):
So it's been great.
Speaker 10 (25:27):
It's been good too because I've too many people, so
I can just focus on myself.
Speaker 6 (25:31):
So it's been excited.
Speaker 9 (25:32):
So in Tennessee, you have a second year head coach.
You also have a relatively young roster. Obviously, in that
micd Up clip, we saw somebody who's very enthusiastic, has
a lot of energy, has a.
Speaker 8 (25:41):
Lot of leadership qualities.
Speaker 9 (25:43):
How do you see that and how comfortable are you
with that energy kind of going into this rookie year
on a team that could need some leadership.
Speaker 10 (25:51):
I feel very comfortable just because it's who I am
and there's nobody in the locker room looking down on
you for that. So I'm very grateful for the vets
that are in the room and the coach that are
like to be who you are and just be natural.
Speaker 6 (26:03):
But I look forward to it and I'm very excited.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
Hey f Man, congratulations on being drafted in the NFL.
Brother I'm wish you nothing but health the success.
Speaker 8 (26:11):
In your NFL career.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
I remember feeling when I got drafted in twenty eighteen, brothers,
so just wishing you that.
Speaker 6 (26:16):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
I do want to ask you about the new quarterback
in Tennessee, the first overall pick, cam Ward. Just talk
to me about what have you seen from your fellow
rookie quarterback so far that really gives you conviction to
know that he can lead you guys. Sure you guys
want to go at the top of the division and
hopefully to a playoff push.
Speaker 6 (26:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (26:31):
So a funny story, Cam was asking my roommate for
mini camp and just the ota is because you know
the rookies are in the hotel and have a roommate.
So just seeing cam being consistent plugging at my five
o'clock every day and going straight to the facility and
doing that on a consistent basis, and then just being
as someone who doesn't have a big ego, you would
(26:51):
think someone that's the first overall pick is kind of
like big headed and prideful, But he's very humble, grounded
and he loves ball. So I'm a very excited to
see how he leaves us and I'm ready to be
right behind him.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
It seems like a sweet person, and just watching his
reaction to all the coverage and being the number one
overall pick, it just seems like his emotions are this
which you want your quarterback to have. However, if I
were his teammate, I would feel rage if they people
weren't talking about my guy the way that he deserves
to as a number one overall pick. Do you feel
like as a rookie class or a teammate of his
(27:25):
now that you kind of want to stand up for
cam Ward and like show him what he's worth because
he's not going to go out as you say, and
you know say it with his chest.
Speaker 6 (27:32):
Right, Yeah, one hundred percent.
Speaker 10 (27:34):
Like, like I mentioned earlier, him having a big ego,
it gives nobody an excuse on our draft roster to
have an ego. So everybody wants to play behind him
and just help this journey as easy, make it as
easy as we can.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
For you look very comfortable in this chair, in this
setting you are. You haven't played a snap of regular
season NFL football and you're sitting at this table doing
live TV like it like it ain't no thing. What
are you into in your life besides football? That kind
of keeps you this really well rounded person.
Speaker 10 (28:03):
I think in college I've had a chance to actually
do a little bit of ministry.
Speaker 6 (28:07):
So I'm really big in my faith.
Speaker 10 (28:08):
So just mentor people and give back to their mother's
physically expirity.
Speaker 6 (28:12):
Mentally. I love basketball, I love Madden and two K.
Speaker 10 (28:17):
I'm a pretty chill dude, laid back, but I always
am trying to find ways to grow my life, whether
it's through reading, financial literacy and business in general.
Speaker 8 (28:26):
That's really cool you talk about mentoring.
Speaker 9 (28:28):
You're about to enter into the league where I know
there are so many people that you've looked up to,
Guys whose games you followed. We talked about it a
little bit before this segment, but TJ.
Speaker 8 (28:37):
Watt just got that bag paid. And I know that's
somebody that you really look up to. What is it
about his.
Speaker 9 (28:42):
Game that you see that you could apply to your
game that hopefully, I mean, we're all hoping for you
that you get back like that. But what do you
see in his game that you like that you hope
to duplicate?
Speaker 6 (28:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (28:52):
Man, I keep watching this film consistently. You just see
a relentless instinct of his game where he he just
throws his move and he believes it's going to happen
and it happens. And then on top of that, just
the effort he plays with the motor something I want
to imitate and apply to my game as well.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
Hey, So, there were a lot of people really talking
too highly about you as a draft pick right up
until about the Senior Bowl where you know, you came
into the game, you dominated, you had two.
Speaker 5 (29:19):
Sacks in the game. Was that a pivotal moment.
Speaker 4 (29:22):
For you because you're already going through the position switch
mid season of college career. That really gave you that
confidence to say, you know what, I really cannot only
play this new position at the high level, I can
dominate at the highest.
Speaker 5 (29:32):
Level we all talked about as players, we have this
natural confidence.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
But with that a pivotal point for you, really really confirmed, like, hey,
this is the real dud and I can take that
next step as I go in.
Speaker 5 (29:40):
To transition into the pros.
Speaker 10 (29:44):
I think there's a lot of questions if I could
actually do it, or if it was just kind of
a flute, and I think going into the Senior Bowl
and playing against the best in the nation and the country,
but this is a great chance of exposure and h
honestly built a lot of confidence and showed that everybody's
human in my eyes, so very grateful to God for that.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
Hey, Femi, give cam Woard a letter grade as a roommate.
Is he snoring, sucks all over the floor letter grade?
I'll give him a that's my dog. People ain't too dirty.
I'm a little cleaner than him. But it's all good.
But good people for Sooke. All right, Well, listen, this
(30:27):
is an easy question because it looks like you got it.
Almost kind of looks like I don't know what that
shirt is, is that denim? Whatever it is. I'll get
to my point. You go from La now you're in Nashville.
Now that is two entertainment capitals right now. But we
see this kind of infiltration of the country. Look now
into all different walks of life.
Speaker 8 (30:45):
Like I was.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
I saw a post malone a few weeks ago, and
he comes out on stage wrapping and he's got a
big belt buckle and a flannel shirt. Have you gotten
country down there in Nashville yet? What's it like?
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Wait before you answer that, Femi Kyle, I applaud you
and pointing out a shirt, but he's also wearing pants
that I'm convinced are like a sweater material.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
The guy has booted and suited from head to toe.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
So I wanted to make sure people understood the fact
that I am actively envious of.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Those sweaters that you're wearing.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
Go ahead, answers, appreciate it.
Speaker 10 (31:13):
I've gotten to the country style yet, I'm definitely going
to I might even get a truck who knows.
Speaker 6 (31:21):
Everything.
Speaker 10 (31:22):
But uh now, yeah, I'm gonna get some boots soon
in the buckle with the bell things like that. But
if the sponsorships are out there, man tapped in, let's
go okay, So.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
We'll have to include you in whatever segment we come
up with on GMFB this year, like you might be
one of those tunnel fit guys, Like we've got to
pay attention to Fimmy coming in.
Speaker 6 (31:39):
Yeah, let's do it.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
Cool.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
We had your head, your UCLA head coach on the show,
Jashan Foster, in the spring. We asked him what it
was like to have his field practice field exposed when
Aaron Rodgers shows up or DK Metcalf, You ever see
NFL guys walking around that facility, because he made it
sound like he just leaves the gates open and they
show up.
Speaker 6 (31:57):
Actually, it is very true.
Speaker 10 (31:59):
From a TIMA transferred in every off season there's anybody
just coming through. I actually got really close to DK
Metcalf through them always being at the facility and training
and uh yeah, anybody goes and comes.
Speaker 8 (32:13):
That's cool.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
You'll be one of those guys soon enough, you'll.
Speaker 6 (32:15):
Show up today.
Speaker 5 (32:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (32:19):
Talking about people that come on the show with Jeffrey Simmons,
we had him on the show. We had a whole
segment built around what he said. He said that the
Tennessee Titans don't get enough respect in this league. How
do you feel about those comments? And what do you
What do you think you're going to provide for them
that's going to bring a little bit more respect to
the Tennessee Titans.
Speaker 10 (32:37):
Yeah, I mean coming in as a rookie. I think
he's just having a mindset, not necessarily.
Speaker 6 (32:43):
To prove people wrong, but in my just to prove
the team.
Speaker 10 (32:45):
Right on drafting me and helping it coming in and
helping the team just win games and be productive and
put on the show for the fans and build a
good team chemistry.
Speaker 6 (32:54):
And Jeff is obviously one of our vets. So I'm
right behind them.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
That's so cool for me.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Ol today, shoe everybody you are reporting to camp on
all day?
Speaker 2 (33:03):
Is that right?
Speaker 3 (33:04):
Your sweater pants might be a little hut in Tennessee
for that save those for New York.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
All right, so great to meet. You're officially a friend
of our show.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
We can't wait to have you on check on check
on your well being halfway who year?
Speaker 2 (33:13):
All right?
Speaker 3 (33:14):
You do not act like a rookie whatsoever, f Emiola Deejo,
everybody front of our show, well done, stay healthy.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
We wish you the best.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
Cam Ward clean it up man, you got a roommate
that's cleaner than you what are we doing,
