It's the week eighteenth finale, this one in twenty five
regular season games on Saturday, games on Sunday, Kyle, it
all matters.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
We'll have our eyeballs heeled all weekend long.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
That's pretty great. And then the weekend after that, guys,
wildcar time, Baby, let's go. Then it's threely good Time,
Saturday Football, Sunday Football, carboload tonight, sleep tonight.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Welcome to Good Morning Football presented by Old trap Oh
my gosh, it's a beautiful thing. This weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Jamie, Mantai, Willie and Kyle GMFB on a Friday, the
final Friday of the regular season for twenty twenty five,
even though we are eking into twenty twenty six at
this point, Manti Editorially, we have a bit of a
change this segment. You have something prepared for us in
a few minutes.
Speaker 6 (01:24):
We've got some major stuff coming up after this little segment,
a little follow up. Instead of me doing things in
our own lane, I wanted to stay on the San
Francisco wave and add some of a major insight on
their quarterback after our little takes on this big NFC
West matchup.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Jamie, Okay, it's good to know.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
We went with NFC red and green flags last hour.
We're going to get to the AFC on this side
of the hour for GMFB. But with that, we do
have to check in with Ian Rappaport, our NFL networking
ladder with us this morning. Wrap Sheets a big name
dealing with some significant injuries in the NFC West ahead
of the showdown this weekend between the Seahawks and the Niners.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
What's the update before Saturday.
Speaker 7 (02:01):
Yeah, let's focus in on this showdown right here. That
was a electric, electric collection of highlights you just showed, right,
There's so many good battles between these two teams.
Speaker 8 (02:10):
Cannot wait for another one.
Speaker 7 (02:11):
We'll start though with George Kittley start tight end for
the forty nine ers been dealing with that ankle injury
last week, was not able to play. Tried to go
out there and test it, just couldn't quite get their
health wise, so we missed last week. Officially, Listen is
questionable this week, and talk to reporters in the locker
room and Kittle city absolutely that's the quote. Absolutely expects
to play, but the fact that he hasn't yet been
(02:33):
listed as a full participant is at least something that
gives a little bit of pause, right, I mean, obviously
this is a big game.
Speaker 8 (02:39):
Forty nine ers want to win.
Speaker 7 (02:41):
The playoffs are bigger, So we'll see what coaching decision
they make for George Hills Kittle's health short term and
long term. By the way, Christian McCaffrey off the injury
report with back stiffness. No worries there. Trent Williams, their
Pro Bowl left tackle, one of the best left tackles
of well, not just this year, but really the last decade.
He is officially listened as questionable, but he hasn't practiced
(03:02):
at all this week, dealing with a hamstring injury. Hard
to imagine he is out there with no practice on
the short week. I guess crazy things have happened, but
to me, I'm not expecting the big man to be
out there and then for Seattle. On the other side
of this, Rashid Shiheed one of their big trade targets
this year, one of the more successful trades we saw
during the trade deadline, and electric returner and receiver.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
He's in the.
Speaker 7 (03:25):
Nfo's concussion protocol working his way back. Yes, it is
a short week, but he was a full participant the
last day of practice this week. That is a sign
that he could clear the protocol in the next twenty
four hours and play tomorrow night.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Mmm. That's all good to know. That's doocy repsheet. Thank
you so much.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Seahawks at forty nine ers, this is what we're looking
at right now. The Seahawks are thirteen and three, yet
it feels like the forty nine ers are the ones
getting the attention. We did an entire segment on CMC
being a potential MVP last hour. We're going to keep
talking about the forty nine ers this hour. Let's do
this exercise again and swing it to Seahawks forty nine ers.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Mantime.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
If the Seahawks do blank, they will win.
Speaker 8 (04:08):
Okay, I like it.
Speaker 6 (04:09):
If the Seahawks can stop brock Purty from doing the dougie,
they will win because if you guys follow the San
Francisco four nine ers, when brock Purty does a doug
it's usually after a touchdown. And more so, if you
have to do the dougie, you have to be in
the rhythm. And Number thirteen has been in an incredible
rhythm since Week eleven when he returned for the San
Francisco forty nine ers, And so I know it's been
(04:31):
a challenge for every defense that has gone against Number
thirteen and Kyle to your point, Jamie had a great
segment about CMC, but Number thirteen has been phenomenal. If
you want to put him in the MVP conversation as well,
you could And I'll go over later on in this
segment as why you should so, Willie, if they stop
the man from doing the dougie, they should win this game.
Speaker 8 (04:50):
Yeah. If Seattle's run game comes alive, they will win.
Bottom line. You talk about this two headed dog they
have in Zach Zerbinet and Kenneth Walker, and it really
started Week fourteen against the Cardinals where they rush for
over one hundred and thirty yards, and you talk about
Week sixteen against the RAM they run for one hundred
and seventy one yards. And then last week as the Panthers,
they put it in a and they got after the
Panthers and they ran for over one hundred and sixty
(05:11):
one hundred and sixty three yards overall. Man with Sam
Donald's shaky playoff record, they need this run game to
come alive. This is the Nixon key for the Seattle
Seahawks offense. They get things started. And I say it
all the time, and I don't mean to be redundant
when you have when you play a bad weather team
with a good run game and a dominant defense man
and made for a long day. So KB, I don't
(05:33):
think anybody wants to see the Seahawks when I'm two
headed dolls and coming at you.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
They don't. They definitely don't, and the record speaks for themselves.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
But I think in terms of speaking, we've already gotten
past the chapter of talking about the Seahawks this year
where it's like no attention on.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
The Seahawks, no love for the Seahawks. We're past that.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
But unfortunately, now when Seahawks topics come up, all you
really talk about is Sam Donald and maybe Jackson Smith
and Jig But then we are guilty of that too.
There is an entire team here that deserves to be
talked about, to be recognized, to be celebrated. Thirteen win team,
and I think it's a lot of the guys on
the defense. If the Seahawks beat the Niners is because
they out hit the Niners. I talked about Christian McCaffery
(06:10):
earlier this show about what he's doing, how productive it is.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
Do you know that there.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Are seventeen Seahawks who have a sack or at least
half a sack seventeen players.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
There's eleven a loot on the field at a time.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Guys, do you know that there are nineteen Seahawks who
haven't tackled for a loss. That's out of this world.
I've never heard of that before, and maybe it's happened.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
I don't care.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Nineteen times a Seahawks, nineteen different ones have tackled the
ball carry behind the line of scrimmage. It is a
swarming defense. It feels like they have twenty guys on
the field at a time. McCaffrey is going to have
to unveil all of his tricks and ability, and so
is Kyle Shanahan, and so is Purty. But these are
two teams that hit, and Seattle will knock your lights out.
(06:55):
They are so intense defensively. If they can out hit
San Francisco and all those guys from all top to bottom,
the backups, the Nickels, the Dimes, anybody, they in this game.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
The problem is the Seahawks weren't quite there in Week one.
Say Francisco beat him back then in early September seventeen thirteen,
and that was just the beginning of this thing for
us Mantai. Having watched the forty nine Ers all season long,
you've cooked up something major about Brock Purty today.
Speaker 6 (07:20):
You know, KB did his thing about Christian McCaffrey. We're
talking about the Niners. This could be forty nine or Friday.
This sounds like what it is now. There's different narratives
that we've been accustomed to throughout this season. In the
beginning of the season, it was the Chiefs and the
offense and those struggles there.
Speaker 9 (07:35):
Patrick doesn't have anyone, He's doing everything himself.
Speaker 6 (07:38):
We got to wait till week six until Rashi Rice
comes back. And then also with the Bills in the
reigning MVP with Josh Allen aka Superman. They have a
great run game, no pass game. Why because he doesn't
have a wide receiver one his best target is a
tight end. But then, what about Brock Purdy? What about
the revapped offense? He had to deal with de Bo?
He's gone. Brandon Naiyuk. I don't know where Brandon Niyuk
(08:01):
is that, but he's not on a football field. Ricky
Piersov he's missed seven weeks. Shawan Jennings he's missed.
Speaker 9 (08:05):
A couple weeks.
Speaker 6 (08:06):
George Kittle missed six weeks, including last week. Yet that
forty nine ers offense six since Purty returned, has been phenomenal.
The offense is first in points per game, they're fourth
in yards per game and first in third down conversions. Well,
you maybe say, well, Manti, that's the team. How's Brock
Purty doing? Well, let me show you how Brock Purdy
(08:26):
has been doing since the Dougie Rock Purty is undefeated.
Speaker 9 (08:30):
He has the highest completion.
Speaker 6 (08:31):
Percentage, highest passer rating, and the second most touchdowns. There's
a lot of ones and twos on that list, and
the one and two persons that we've been talked about
in the MVP conversation has been Matt Stafford and Drake May.
But Matt Stafford he's been playing his best ball, no
doubt about that. Pukumakua DeVante Adams two of the best
wide receivers in the game. So that makes sense. Drake May,
(08:53):
he doesn't miss. That makes sense too, will make sense
of this. Rock Purty has the highest pass past t
D percentage. And if you're thinking, like Okay, Manti, that's
not enough.
Speaker 9 (09:03):
Since nine teen seventy.
Speaker 6 (09:05):
Brock Purdy has had the highest career pass TD percentage.
Speaker 9 (09:07):
Look at all of the guys on that list. It
just keeps going and going and going.
Speaker 6 (09:12):
With a guy that doesn't have wide receiver one has
a consistent revolving door at the wide receiver position. He
continues to do major things in a major way. Guys,
I got to ask you when you think about Brona Purdy.
I will start with you, Kyle, because you talked about
Christian McCaffrey. The first person to get the ball is
a quarterback. How impressed have you been about Brock Purdy
and what he's been able to do in this season
(09:33):
Given the fact that he hasn't had consistent guys at
the wide receiver position.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Yeah, there was almost a storyline developing about, well, you know,
just let mac Jones drive the Shana Hen offense. That's
really the Ferrari here. And then brock Purty comes back
and he just looks so, so so good. We're not
talking about that anymore than we shouldn't. That last game
against the Bears, pick six first play, oops, and then
I just don't think he made a mistake the rest
of the game. Unbelievably great player right now. Like listen,
(09:58):
it reminds me of the NCAA tournament. You come in
with great guard play and you got this really hot
point guard of the shooting who cannot miss, like a
like a Kemba Walker type, and they just come scorching
into the playoffs. And see it's almost in a weird
way like the Niners. If they don't get the buy, fine,
just Brett brock party right out there right now because
he is on, he cannot miss. He's clapping for the
(10:19):
ball in the corner just like he's taking him off
the ball rack and just sinking threes. He looks great
right now. So if they get the by grade, if
not Party comes right up back on the field with
one of the hottest hands.
Speaker 10 (10:28):
In the league.
Speaker 8 (10:30):
Yeah, k B, I think you one hundred percent correct.
But I think you talk about this forty nine Ers
team and brought Perty as a whole man. The first
two words that come to mind is resilient and no excuses.
You're talking about Kyle Shanahan pretty much scheming this team
up to be successful week in and week out. Think
about what he does with see him, see have him
in the running back slot, motioning him, roaching them out
to the slot. He's a nightmare night. He's a nightmare
(10:52):
for linebackers in the safeties. He talk about Brock Party.
The best thing that happened to Brock Perty this season
was Mac Jones because Mac Jones is playing so well.
He was like, Man, I'm not getting Wally pipped. I
gotta get my butt out there. It doesn't matter how
I feel. And he started to feel that presh. He
got on the field, he figured some things out, he
had to get over his injury, Buck and he started cooking. Man,
this Niner team doesn't make excuses. Rock Party doesn't make excuses.
(11:13):
They just get it done. I'm not surprised they're in
this position. They win, and you're talking about a by division,
NFC championship and Super Bowl all going through Levi and
they have an opportunity in the MC Championship to get
Fred Warner back because he'll be ready to roll. Hopefully
by that time. Man nine has got momentum on the
side if they get this win.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Nothing fires me up more than someone making an NCAA
tournament reference, especially in January. Way to go, guys, appreciate
it so much.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
Who's going to have that hot.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Hand, Who's going to be the Cinderella story.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
These are all.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
Questions we have ahead of the postseason here for the NFL.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Oh my gosh, I can't from three, Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Steph Curry kind of sensational and Davidson going on, got
focus on football. There are some troubling statistics for some
AFC playoffs teams.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
We did red flag, green flag, last hour.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
What we got on the AFC side, We've got a
couple teams, a couple numbers, Man Ti.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
We'll get into it.
Speaker 9 (12:05):
We'll get into that. We'll get into a lot of stuff.
Speaker 6 (12:06):
Remember the incredible start and incredible run by Baker Mayfield
against this team that we've been talking about all day
with the forty nine ers, well the Bucks. Since then,
it hasn't looked good. They were five to one at
that time. They've bought the last seven of the eight games.
What version are we going to get? Can they get
into the playoffs?
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Shape?
Speaker 9 (12:21):
We'll talk about that and more on.
Speaker 6 (12:23):
Gf MET on Friday.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Let's go, guys, get it Good Morning Football?
Speaker 3 (12:41):
All right.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
Back on GMFP tomorrow is h Bryce Young has an opportunity.
He's got the biggest game of his NFL career. There's
a playoff spot up for grabs, by the way, and
it's against a familiar opponent, Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Carolina beat
Tampa two weeks ago, but Bryce Young says that he's
taking this rematch in stride.
Speaker 11 (13:00):
You know, there's pros and cons. You know, there's advantages, disadvantagers.
We understand the challenge of we have to flush the
you know two weeks ago. Obviously you watch the film
and you learn from it, you grow from it. But
you know, we we have a ton of respect for
our opponents. Uh, there's gonna be similarities, there's gonna be
new wrinkles.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
You know, they're gonna do.
Speaker 11 (13:17):
A you know, it's it's it's fun getting to play
that that chess game with a divisional opponent. They have
great coaches, great players over there, So you know, we
know that it's gonna be uh, it's gonna take everything
for us to go out and and try to be
successful on Sunday. So you know, you try to balance
both the familiarity and then also knowing there's stuff to
react to, and you know, at the end of the day,
like Coach says, it's just about focusing on the process.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
I can't believe we haven't made this parallel before. The
NFC side of things, it's all stakes.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
It's full fo go to chow. It's not a carbon site.
It's just green button, green sign, green.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
Light, meat, meat meats. Especially with this game.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Stakes are high Panthers Buccaneers sappening tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
The Bucks have lost seven of their last eight.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
So here's a question, man, Ti, there are some people
on this show that Chugg the fake be You're anticipating
that Baker Mayfield was going to be an MVP this season.
The first couple of weeks, it was like, Wow, it's
a pretty good guess. Not recently, it hasn't been great
for the Buccaneers. So what version do you think of
Tampa Bay are we going to see on Saturday against
the Panthers?
Speaker 6 (14:18):
Unfortunately, guys, I think referencing back to Todd Bowle's little
rent that he had postgame a few weeks ago, where
he used a lot of words, there was one word
that he used that I think stood out to me
the most, and that was a C word, and that
word is care. Is that you have to care. Now,
when you start to use that word, it's very reflective
(14:42):
of what's happening inside that locker room.
Speaker 9 (14:44):
And if you're a team that's fighting for your.
Speaker 6 (14:46):
Life and you're starting to question if the guy next
to you cares, that's not good.
Speaker 9 (14:51):
That's not good at all.
Speaker 6 (14:53):
And whenever you're on the field, you want to have
make sure that the other guy next to you is
willing to put his life on the line for you.
That's what makes great teams great. That's what make great defenses,
great offenses great. When you have to question, I don't
know if this guy's going to run the right route.
I don't know if this guy's gonna block for me.
I don't know if this guy's going to take on
this pulling guard. For me, that's when bad things happen.
(15:16):
So I unfortunately, I think that the version of the
team that we're going to see, because it's starting to
go like this a little bit because of that word.
Speaker 9 (15:22):
Is that one in seven version of Willie.
Speaker 8 (15:24):
Yeah. For me, Baker and the Bucks don't need a masterpiece.
They need a mistake free street fight. If they're able
to do that, man, they're going to have a shot. Listen,
Baker Mayfield, his journey's been well documented. Landsy Cleveland. There
was a running joke out there that he had more
commercials than touchdowns. He gets on the road and he's
playing with the Panthers, lands in LA and then he
(15:44):
kind of finds his way and then he lands in Tampa.
He becomes a dude, a legit dude. He's the All
America hero. His fight, his great his passion. When he's
on part man, he's a bad dude. And you talk
about early in this season, Man, he was in the
MVP conversation talk about we five going in Seattle playing
the shootout against Sam Donald, coming out that building. What
a w he has to rally. All his weapons will
(16:07):
be full go this weekend. If they get the run
game going, they continue to throw the ball down the field.
He continues to not turn over the football, and his
defense shows up. Man, the Bucks can get it done,
and I expect him to get it don Kb.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
I've seen this happen before. You got me, guys. Imagine
reaction was incredible. All right, We've seen this happen before,
where teams just kind of die on a vine.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
It doesn't end well.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
I'm reminded of the twenty three Eagles, who had a
good enough record to still get to the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
The Bucks are like a lesser version of that.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
But I just like we've all talked about early in
the season, this early in the season this, let's go
back to a clip of our show when I was
just losing my mind about Baker and how magic it was.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
Just to remind ourselves where this thing has come from.
Speaker 9 (16:46):
I'll tell you what else is scary.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
I was.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
I was on the couch yesterday for I think like
eight and a half hours. Really, the only time I
got up was at the end of the Baker run.
You need to like wear a smoking jacket to watch
this highlight.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
It is a fine fine wine.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
If Josh Allen did this at Lamar, we'd be like,
that's just josh Ana Lamar. Baker is not those guys. Physically.
He is not very big, he is not terribly quick,
he is not fast. He just knows how to game.
Speaker 8 (17:15):
He just has it.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
That to me is my favorite highlight of the twenty
twenty five seasons so far. It's the clubhouse leader, and
there's just something magical about watching him right now.
Speaker 8 (17:23):
It's so good.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Sometimes when you sit in the clubhouse after finishing eighteen,
the other players catch up. I hate to say that,
but that we've seen it happen all the time. I
don't have any reason why Tampa would win this game.
I'm sorry, like it's very negative. I've watched them crumble
and the things you're saying about. It's not just football.
It's between the ears, it's locker room, it's everything. And
yet it's just from my cold dead hands. Can you
(17:46):
pry Baker Mayfield? I just feel like you'll find a way.
I know he's played poorly, he's not played his best games,
and Todd Bowles this stupples that one game at home
against an upstart team in your own division.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
I still roll with Tampa. It's just in spite of
my better judgment, I still roll with Tampa.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Kyle, Can I interest you in my fogo to child
parallel again?
Speaker 3 (18:02):
And the fact that we're.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Just going to hit green light on the fact that
not only in the NFC South does this game matter.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
But then you've got to turn around and on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
You have to watch Falcon Saints like you have no
other option, because this thing matters as well.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
The fact that the NFC South, as.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
You say, from our cold dead hands like you, will
not take your attention. We will not allow you to
rip your eyeballs away from this specific division. Kyle, It's fascinating,
God says.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
It has us off the couch this weekend. Saints Falcons?
What interests you?
Speaker 4 (18:34):
It's awesome. I love it.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
And you know what the best outcome in terms of content,
if we're just speaking purely content, the Bucks win, and
then the Bucks get knocked out of the playoffs and
the Panthers still get in the playoffs. If that happens,
that's nuts. Imagine if the Panthers get smoked. Imagine if
they lose thirty one to six and then they make
the playoffs over the Bucks.
Speaker 8 (18:53):
Oh my God's feal The.
Speaker 6 (18:56):
Crazy part is if you look at those two teams,
the Saints and the Falcons, I think one could make
an argument that those are the two teams in that
division that are playing yeah football right, Like, these two
teams have the most at stake, but the other two
that are going to play the day after are playing
better brand of football than the two that actually can
mix to the playoffs. So I know Kyle earlier in
the week, he was like, you know what, I'm gonna
(19:17):
throw a Kurt Ball. I'm gonna I want I want
to see the Saints and the Falcons. I mean, I
think everybody's gonna be to today, especially.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
The fact that the Panthers exactly could happen get smoke
thirty one six still get in the playoff, host a
playoff game. We would congratulate the Panthers, but man, it
would be disconcerting. Time for Aaron Bround Fantasy Advice presented
by FedEx, It's time now.
Speaker 6 (19:38):
To get props to those fantasy football owners out there
that drafted the forty nine Ers running back Christian McCaffrey,
who wins our Fantasy Football MVP Awards. CMC put up
a league high four hundred and four point nine.
Speaker 9 (19:49):
Points this season. Dangants, I should have drafted him. The
average twenty five points a week.
Speaker 6 (19:55):
Not bad for a guy who was drafted round ninth
or tenth in the first round. And congrats to the
owners that rode CMC because my boy Cuts did it
and he almost won our league and fantasy football. But
he didn't win the title this year, but Christian McCaffrey
is our league fantasy MVP.
Speaker 9 (20:09):
Congratulations.
Speaker 10 (20:13):
Well.
Speaker 12 (20:14):
The Dolphins are traveling to New England this weekend and
faced the Patriots forty three years after the two teams
played in one of the most unique games in NFL history.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Alongside the Pats decorated history.
Speaker 12 (20:25):
I'm talking about moments like that Malcolm Butler goal line
interception or twenty eight to three come back, remember that one.
There will always, though be a spot in New England
franchise lore for the strange and unforgettable matchup simply known
as the Snowplow Game.
Speaker 10 (20:42):
Good afternoon, everybody, The temperatured about twenty degrees, the snow
coming down. Well, we're gonna play football, and it's quite
a day to play.
Speaker 13 (20:53):
The day at the stadium was brutal. You got the
six inches of snow, which is hard to move around in,
let alone the ice that's underneath. It was a crown
and pound. Who's gonna make the mistake?
Speaker 10 (21:04):
Whoever canna adjust to these conditions today will be the
one of the ball game.
Speaker 9 (21:08):
We all knew it was going to be a tough
situation for the kickers.
Speaker 13 (21:12):
I'm always confident in our kicker, John doesn't miss.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
But the footing was bad.
Speaker 10 (21:17):
Dah, it is no god a fast game. Multi blops
tried to hold on. We're at the fourth period. It's scoreless.
Speaker 14 (21:29):
I was running around with the wrong crowd and I
had been sentenced in New Hampshire and they were looking
for a volunteer to ride the track. Being the lone
man on the totem pole from work release.
Speaker 4 (21:41):
I raised my hand.
Speaker 14 (21:42):
I said, I'll do it.
Speaker 9 (21:43):
There he goes again. Now he's going behind the dolphin.
He'll list ot.
Speaker 6 (21:48):
I was on the sideline and Steve Grogan, who was
the quarterback, comes up to me.
Speaker 4 (21:51):
He says, Smitty, how close I gotta get you?
Speaker 6 (21:53):
And I said, we need a timeout because we have
to get everybody digging out the ice.
Speaker 10 (21:58):
With four forty five remain, A time out is gold
by New England.
Speaker 14 (22:03):
At this exact moment, Coach Meyer finally spotted me and
he said to me get out there and do something.
As soon as he pointed out to the field, I
knew exactly what he was talking about.
Speaker 8 (22:14):
I just took off all of a sudden.
Speaker 13 (22:17):
I look up and I see this tractor take a
pee line towards us.
Speaker 8 (22:23):
They brought with robber, clean off and playing off the shop.
Speaker 13 (22:26):
To John trip, I couldn't have been out there with
a big red X, say and do it right here.
He hit it right on the spot.
Speaker 9 (22:32):
A thirty three yard at half the breakfast store.
Speaker 6 (22:35):
Less time on the way.
Speaker 8 (22:38):
Yeah, John Swift.
Speaker 10 (22:42):
Has but the first points on the board, a little
help from the brush.
Speaker 13 (22:48):
Coach sul is a reaction. I'm not gonna say apoplectic
that it was pretty animated. He was on the sidelines
and he wanted the official's attentions right now. He was
calling for him.
Speaker 14 (22:56):
They were real afraid because Don Shula was part of
the rules committee, and they thought the NFL would come
in and take the win away from him.
Speaker 9 (23:06):
Look at the press score.
Speaker 10 (23:08):
You know who they're around there, folks.
Speaker 14 (23:09):
Supporters asked me if what I had done was against
the rules, and I just said to him, what are
they going to do?
Speaker 4 (23:14):
Throw me in jail.
Speaker 9 (23:16):
I've played ten years in the NFL, and what do
they re memory for a prisoner on a tart turn?
Speaker 4 (23:21):
The cloud didn't really do anything. It swept the snow
off the top. He's full of crap.
Speaker 14 (23:26):
If you go back and look at the film, you
can see where Kavanaugh put the ball right in the
middle of the green path that I made, and they
kicked it right through.
Speaker 10 (23:37):
He has.
Speaker 14 (23:39):
Forty years later and we're still talking about it.
Speaker 6 (23:41):
The fact that it's gone on for so long and
people still think about it and still ask.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
Me about it when I see them, it's amazing.
Speaker 13 (23:49):
Quite a bit of lore, right, Not a lot of
times you go to a game and say, I've never
seen that before. People still talk about this game.
Speaker 3 (23:58):
I honestly think that's unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Like, actually, I can't believe that happened, Willie. You were
wearing the Steelers sweater. You are a Steelers legend. You
must have played in some snow games, but that is crazy.
Speaker 8 (24:14):
Yeah, that's nuts. First of all, I didn't know the
kicker and the plow guy got beef. That's a whole
nother team Z thing right there. Nevertheless, Man, you know
it's interesting about that too. First of all, Don Shue
had a mean fir a code. I love the code,
by the way, just side to push along. Playing in
the snow, it's once you get locked in, you don't
feel it. It's kind of over cold. You don't feel
(24:37):
it once you're in the heat of battle. It is
what it is. You're just locking horns. The issue for
the kickers right now, especially the guys like I was
on field goal protection. When we're protecting the kicker, the
biggest part of for us is, Man, we don't want
to go off sides right because we don't want to slip.
We want to do anything stupid where we can cost
They will kind of move this thing back and reset
the kickers. So the fact that he was able to
get it done was amazing. I just want the two
(24:58):
to get along. I mean's forty years forget about it,
you guys. The fact that Mark Henderson doesn't have a
trophy outside of Buffalo Bills, you know, him and a
snowplod and brown statue, that's that's are It's crime in itself.
So that was that was great.
Speaker 6 (25:10):
Well, I think it probably was not, because when I
saw that they plowed where that kicker was, it wasn't
even in the path that the kicker took.
Speaker 9 (25:16):
It kind of was the opposite way.
Speaker 6 (25:17):
Like the kicker was the right footed kicker, but he
plowed it as if he was a left foot kicker.
So I don't know if that's part of the beef
that he got. But what I've never played in a
snow game. I played in code games where it was
it was too cold to snow, but I've never played
in some snow, which is to to to to Willy's
part point about.
Speaker 9 (25:36):
Playing in code games. Once you start going, you're fine.
Speaker 6 (25:39):
But Willy, you know, that's the hardest part about playing
in the in the cold game is if you do
not put your your helmet on the heater. To put
that helmet back on, bro It's like you have a
whole bunch of rocks in your helmet and you're trying
to squeeze this thing on. So if anybody looks on
the sideline at code games and they see all those
helmets on those heaters, that's why those helmets are. Matter
(26:01):
of fact, I think Josh Allen keeps his helmet on
because if you take that thing off.
Speaker 9 (26:05):
And the padding in their freezes, that's that's no fun.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
This is incredible. I'm looking, Oh, go ahead, Wally, and.
Speaker 8 (26:11):
Now I would say a mantized right. It feels like
you got to cement block on your head. I tell
you what Hurst berth for office. A lineman when it's
colding in is rigid like that taking a bull, taking
a bull race, excuse me, a bull rush to the chops.
That's when, if you really feel it, you're like, man,
you can you'd be ready to tap after that. So Jamie,
but you can do it. You're tough, Jamie. I'm I
appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
Especially with my my braids in today.
Speaker 4 (26:32):
I really I am.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
I'm shocked to see this Patriots Hall of Fame dot com.
This is obviously website that exists.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
They have the snow plot, the tractor that Mark Henderson
used hanging in Patriot and the Patriots Hall of Fame.
They have Don Shula signed the blades edge that pushed
the snow out of the way. Man, We'll just put
anything in a Hall of fame at this point. This
is incredible. I hate the beef between these two. I
love the fact that it's complicated, and specifically, I love
(27:01):
the fact that head coaches out there, especially ones that
have worn the patriot It's headset, they will just stop it.
They will bend any role, they will stop at anything
to make sure that they get their team.
Speaker 9 (27:09):
On the field.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
I have to put points on the board. And history
tells us this even back into the mid eighties. This
is fantastic.
Speaker 9 (27:16):
All right.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
Moving on on GMFP, we got to look at some
AFC teams that have red flags heading into the playoffs.
It's not good enough that you're in the postseason. No,
we have to unearth some statistics that we are going
to give red flag clearance to or green flag. And
we'll talk about that as we enter January for the
NFL season.
Speaker 9 (27:46):
Good Morning Football.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
We're playing this game on GMFP today, Red flag, green flag.
We looked at the AFC side this hour NFC was
last hour. We're going to roll through a couple of
the teams. But Kyle, a little history lesson on the show.
Can you do this exercise with me? Someone just got
in my ear because we're you using images, historic images
related to the organizations that we're going to talk about. Kyle,
(28:10):
if you had to guess knowing that we use like
Ben Johnson shirtless Ben Johnson for the green flag for
the Bears. If you had to guess two iconic Jaguars
images from the organization that relate to this show, what
do you think the images for the Jaguars would be.
Speaker 4 (28:26):
I think one of them is Jackson Deville and underwear
the mascot yep.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
And then I think one of them is like the
super dignified painted up pseudo mascot in the stands.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Guy, dude, I just said the exact thing in the commercial,
and we are both right.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
We're both just bad, a thousand perfect. Let's start with
the Jaguars.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
They are top fifteen in both offensive defense.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
But here's a concerning category.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
The Jags lead the NFL with one hundred and twenty
five penalties this season, which, as we know, can be
a drive killer. It's something they'll definitely have to clean up.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
In the postseason.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
So Jacksonville having one hundred and twenty five penalties this year,
Mantai is this red flag material.
Speaker 6 (29:04):
That's red flag material for me, Jamie, because you know,
when the football is a game, mistakes and the team
that usually wins there is the team that limits those mistakes.
And I looked it up at the penalty that the
Jacksonville Jaguars are called for the most, and that's holding.
Speaker 8 (29:17):
Is that the picture of that.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
Face paint fade? Yes, that's pretty soon with some other Yeah.
Speaker 6 (29:24):
Well there's there's holding, there's off sides that they get
called for. It seems like all offensive penalties. And I
know that Trevor Lawrence has been playing phenomenally, but if
you don't allow him to continue to gain yardage and
you keep hurting yourselves, it is a red flag to me, Willie.
Speaker 9 (29:39):
So I started off red flag.
Speaker 8 (29:41):
Yeah, green flag for me, and I understand your point,
man ty, Come January, penalties can come back and bite
you in the butt, especially you have a habit of it.
But nevertheless, man, this defense has been distapable. Look at
that that, I feel like I know that guy. Anyway,
as we push along, Yeah, I think right now for
Jacksonville's the defense, they have a twelve twelve plus takeaway margin.
(30:03):
They stand up strong in the red zone, they have
guys that they can get after the quarterback. They do
all the right things. They listen when you're the third seed,
your habits are your habits. But if You're able to
overcome them, and that's who you are. Don't stop now,
just keep full steam ahead, KB, I got the Jaguars
nothing to worry about. Green flag for me.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
That guy we just showed in the underpants underneath the crossbar,
that's not a fan who ran on the field. That
is a Jaguars employee. That guy is in with the
team and by proxy, in with the league. That guy's
job is to stand right there. That is not a
fan on the field. And I want to say green
flag for that, but I'm going to say red flag.
And I'm going to say red flag for a real
(30:39):
juicy reason. A lot of penalties for Jacksonville. Okay, we
know that penalties can swing the game, swing the season.
I think there may be a paranoia amongst Jaguars fans
that they may not get calls in the postseason if
they go up against somebody I don't know, like New
England's or someone who is in I don't know. Dare
(31:00):
I say a bigger market or has a big fan following.
I don't believe in that, of course, but I know
there is a belief of that, and I don't want
to see the Jaguars season end on penalties, whether they're
out of thin air or because they committed, and like
they have all year, they're committing over seven penalties a game.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
That's a lot for a team as good as I mean,
look at that guy. Come on, you can't do that.
Speaker 8 (31:23):
It happened.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
But this is penalty at home right here? Come on?
Speaker 1 (31:28):
I mean, I just like these penalties. This is a
terribly undignified highlight reel. And then we're finally talking Jaguars
and they're fans are like, this is what you show
are dumb mascots and I was committing penalties. I'm sorry
I didn't cut the date, but I'm laughing at it.
It is concerning because playoff games are decided by penalties.
And they say special teams is the third of the game.
Speaker 8 (31:48):
It's not.
Speaker 4 (31:49):
It's a fifth of the game.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
It's offense, defense, special teams, injuries, and officiating.
Speaker 4 (31:54):
So buckle up, Jacksonville, Kavy.
Speaker 6 (31:56):
You know what I'm also laughing at what you said
is Amy, there's an offensive holding and there's an offside
Those are the two penalties that they get called for
the most.
Speaker 9 (32:05):
And then Willy says, hits a green flag.
Speaker 6 (32:07):
That's why it's a green flag, it will say it
ain't a problem holding off.
Speaker 9 (32:12):
Sides that it happens.
Speaker 8 (32:13):
I love you, Willie, I love you. I love you
for that.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
I feel like I just played guests who trying to
figure out what team Kyle was talking about. As it pertains,
the Jacksonville Jaguars feeling like they are self conscious about
that other team in the league that might get more
attention or more calls. Moving on, LA Chargers, shall we
turn our attention to the team that drafted one MAN'SI teo,
the team that plays across the street from us here
on GMFB. Justin Herbert has taken one hundred and twenty
(32:38):
nine quarterback hits this season. Guys, jeez, I was on
the sideline of this game last Saturday with the Texans.
Speaker 3 (32:42):
There is nobody that's.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
Working harder right now at the quarterback spot than Herbert.
He is fighting for his life out there. That has
eighteen more hits than any other signal caller in the NFL,
and according to Next Gen Stats, he unfortunately leads the
league with two hundred and sixty eight quarterback pressures. Well,
I'm gonna keep going. Another concerning nugget is the fifty
four times he's been sacked, which is the third most
in the NFL this season. All everything I just said,
(33:06):
red flag material man time.
Speaker 9 (33:08):
Yeah, it's a huge red flag. Can I get two
red flags? Three red flags?
Speaker 6 (33:11):
I mean, it's very concerning because the sacks are just
the amount of times that they get him to the ground.
Speaker 4 (33:16):
Oh, that's awesome.
Speaker 6 (33:22):
He's getting pressured, he's getting hit. He has a broken
left hand. And the thing about the Chargers is the
Chargers runs through Justin Herbert. You think that when Greg
Roman came over with the whole run, first run, heavy
approach that he's been used to doing his whole career
as an offensive coordinator, that.
Speaker 8 (33:37):
They do that.
Speaker 6 (33:38):
No, with the Chargers, they throw the ball a lot,
and so if number ten can't stay on his feet
or if he's getting hit all the time, it's over
for the Chargers. And so it's a huge red flag
to me, and not to mention guys. In the playoffs,
they are going to play the Houston Texans again, they
are going to play the Denver Broncos. They could play
the Pittsburgh Pittsburgh Steelers, and all of those teams have
(33:59):
a great pass rush.
Speaker 9 (34:00):
So it's a huge red flag.
Speaker 8 (34:01):
For me, will it. Yeah, it's a red flag for me,
and I respect John Hallballs Jim Hallball's decision, man, because
you can't gain momentum with the quarterbacks ribs. I mean,
he takes a beating out there. And when you turn
on the tape and you see what's happened, especially against
the Texas, when they erased the Chargers running game and
they weren't able to throw the ball down the field,
and he was under constant duress and pressure, man, you
(34:23):
start to have some empathy for Justin Herbert out there.
The man's out there with a broken left hand. So
I respect it. Nevertheless, KB, man, it is calls for concern.
They got to get it fixed into the offseason.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
And my challenge here is to try to turn this
into a green flight, because you guys both went red
and candidly, I just want to see what picture we
have for the green flight for the Chargers. So can
we just bring that up fire that sucker bringing it
all there? Go leave this up for a second. Who
in the hell is the guy on the far left
yawning with that crazy cool jacket?
Speaker 4 (34:51):
Who is that that guy?
Speaker 1 (34:53):
Is he screaming or is he yawning? And he's got
an amazing jacket. It looks like Rocky balboas in Siberia
and Rocky four. I love that jacket, but I don't
know if you know who that is. I'll try to
make it a green flag. Well, here's the first positive
is they're probably not They're not gonna play Houston in
the first round. They're most likely going to play the Patriots,
and the Patriots are really good, but they don't want
(35:14):
to face Houston. Certainly in Houston, I think a big
deal with the pass rush is obviously we know about
the two tackles, right, we know that, but we also
know that Omaron Hampton missed a lot of time and
he was a really good player at the beginning and
he's been a really good player lately, and he missed
a whole chunk of time in the beginning of the season,
which ran up the Chargers sack rec SEC numbers, and
(35:36):
pass protection was much harder when you don't have.
Speaker 4 (35:37):
A good running game.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
So I feel like the silver lining of him missing
is being fresh, and I feel like they are going
to ride him early on in the playoffs. That'll help
pass protect and in the meantime, I'm just I'm saying
a rosary like I'm back at Sunday School for Justin
Herbert because we don't have to get hurt, and Mike
Gotti takes a lot of hits.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
I think the green flag also could be to help
you out. Kyle Is, like people had up until this
point not really understood Justin Herbert's identity or maybe like
him on the toughness scale, and like maybe in all
of this, we have fully figured out that Herbert can
hang and he is doing an excellent job fighting for
his life back there.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
Moving on, the Bills have.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
Made the playoffs since seven of eight seasons since drafting
Josh Allen back in twenty eighteen. They are locked into
the wildcard spot, so that means their opening postseason game.
Speaker 3 (36:20):
Is going to take place on the road.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Buffalo has the NFL's twenty ninth rank run defense this season,
giving up hundred and forty brush yards per game, which
is an incredible time.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
I mean, that is just unbelievable for them, and the
fact that they can't lock.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
It up defensively for that here's the question, though, red flag,
green flag run defense numbers man SI, It's brutal, it's uncomfortable,
to watch.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
Is this a red flag for you?
Speaker 9 (36:45):
It's a huge red flag for me. If you can't
stop to run, you can't stop anything.
Speaker 6 (36:48):
You have no shots. Now, it's like it's a lot
like a fighter. Everybody knows. I love to watch MMA
on this show. And you could have the best hands
in the world. But if you have no ground game,
and I know Willy, you do jiu jitsu, so you'd
appreciate this. If you have no ground game, a grappler
who takes you down, you would not get back up.
Speaker 9 (37:05):
And that's what a run the game does for an offense.
Speaker 6 (37:07):
You just keep ground and pound and you don't let
your upon him back up, no matter how goold his
hands are. So it's a huge red of flag that
if you can't stop the run and then the offense
has a confidence that they can continue.
Speaker 9 (37:18):
To get yardage in the run game, good luck.
Speaker 6 (37:22):
I've been in those situations as a defense where he
couldn't stop the runing and it never ended.
Speaker 8 (37:25):
Good with it. Yeah, amen to that man, tie, And
it's a red flag for me too. You can't hide
a so off run defense. It's something you need, especially
if you have plans to make a deep run in January,
and right now you talk about a Buffalo Bills defense
that really can't do anything well. And now you're talking
about a quarterback of Josh Allen who has the ability
to put on the cape, but nevertheless he's dealing with
some injuries the ankle, there's some things going on with him.
(37:46):
He's not fight himself. So if you can't stop the
run and your quarterback can't put on the cape, you
talk about possibly or early dismissal, right, because right now
you're off brand. You're not playing tough at rugged like
we used to seeing his Buffalo Bills team play liking.
I don't know if they have enough time to correct it.
I don't know who's coming through that to help them.
Right now, you've got to worry about their chances in January,
(38:07):
KB Area, I.
Speaker 4 (38:10):
Definitely hear you, man side.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
Do you think there's ever been talks somewhere in Western
New York and Buffalo and their headquarters where McDermot gets
his defensive coaches together and is like, guys, this stays here.
Speaker 4 (38:19):
I think we can play Josh on defense at all.
Think he keeps me snaps? You think he could play
DN maybe just on third down. Let's try it.
Speaker 1 (38:26):
I'm just joking, of course, but I just listen. I've
said this many times. The worst site in this era
of Bill's football. The worst thing you can see is
Josh Allen sitting on the bench like he does, looking
up at the screen watching the game. That's not good
because he means he can't decide the game. This is
not basketball. You don't play offense and defense. He sits
(38:47):
there and watches and is totally helpless to rescue you.
Listen about the ankle thing. He's not going to really
play this weekend. He'll start the game, I think, but
like he's going to have a full two weeks rest,
two weeks plus rest before the wildcard game. Something about
his body is vibranium or titanium or something.
Speaker 4 (39:03):
I think. Be all right, But listen, I how am
I going to say? This is a green flag?
Speaker 10 (39:07):
Like?
Speaker 1 (39:08):
What what kind of pretzel do I have to twist
myself into to say the fact that the Bills have a.
Speaker 4 (39:11):
Terrible rush defense is good. It's not that it's good,
right Jamie, It's that it doesn't terrify me? Right? Is
there something like that? So bring up the picture. I'll
dig just so we can see what picture they came
up with. Everybody worked hard on this.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
Let's say, man, all right, so this is Dion Dawkins
flattening someone, but yet putting his hands back like I'm
not touching him.
Speaker 4 (39:34):
I'm not touching him. It's not a penalty.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
As Josh Allen takes off with that giant play card
trying to make a play.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
I'm as worried about the Bills for so many reasons
as you are, as everybody is, as their fans are,
maybe even some of their players are. Uh.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
I just will go to control al, delete and reset
to say that they have the best player in the
league and run defense doesn't matter if your offense is
really clicking.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
I really mean it. They have Jordan, they have Pippin,
and if those two guys get going like that, I
don't care. The other team can run the ball, they
have to pass to keep up.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
And that's the advantage that Bills have when their two
best players are better than your two best players when
they play well.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
Somebody I know who appreciates that snowman green flag picture
is Willy Cologne. We have a Willie Cologne special coming
up ahead of the Steelers Ravens rivalry well, we're gonna
find out.
Speaker 15 (40:21):
What was the moves today? Maybe no bottom mother, we
get the don't get what they talking about?
Speaker 9 (40:33):
To do Keith fight?
Speaker 8 (40:36):
Yeah a lifetime look snow go on today, man today, don't.
Speaker 4 (40:46):
Right?
Speaker 8 (40:47):
I gott mmmm hmm man that they gave me goosebumps
Man Steelers Ravens. There's no better rivalry. I had some
time to myself and I get asked a lot what
makes a stealer and what is a stealer? And the
(41:07):
bottom line is I had to put together something that
kind of really landed and you know, excuse my nerves,
but the stealers mean a lot to me, And hopefully
this hits home for you. Stealers are not ordinary people.
They were mentally hardened, relentlessly passionate, and comfortable where others
