Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
On Sunday morning, the first ever NFL regular season game
will be played at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, between
the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Minnesota Vikings. I myself find
a day in western Dublin, thirty kilometers outside of the city.
The Steelers have arrived, the Vikings are in town. Everyone
is practicing and acclimating to this gorgeous fall weather. Kyle Brandt,

(00:33):
it will be a perfect weekend for football.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Cheers, Buddy, cheers.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Do you from Mantai, From Isaiah, from Brandon Graham and myself.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
We have all kinds of stuff to talk about right now,
all the games coming up this weekend.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
But right after the show open, I'm going to say
something a little bit serious.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
To just bear with me.

Speaker 5 (00:49):
Here we go, Good Morning Football on a Friday.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Welcome to Good Morning Football, presented by Old Trapper.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
It's Good Morning Football. We are in season.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
It is currently a Friday morning as we head into
the weekend, and we are so thrilled to see Jamie
covering Steelers Vikings there in Dublin, Ireland. We got Isaiah
and Mantaia La and myself in Brandon Grahama, New York.
And I mentioned Brandon Graham because we see this all
the time, and we have three of you on the
show here today, the guys who go from the NFL
to media, and we welcome them and we learn from them.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
We are so excited.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
But there's there's a reason why someone like Brandon Graham
does so well in media because he comes with such
an intensity, such a focus, such an energy, and I
just want a little bit. I want to show an
example of that right now. I get into work this
morning and here's Brandon Graham.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
This is how it looks right speak on it and
the bones.

Speaker 6 (02:03):
A while says, I had to it up and be
on that schedule like that because you know in football
we always up early.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
But this time around, everybody's got that back.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Everybody gets one whack at depending how to run that
picture next.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
That was the same concept, and Mike g was on.

Speaker 7 (02:21):
Yesterday that we was having a great power all.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
It's good to see the contrast between the two. BG
over there's snooze and BG.

Speaker 8 (02:28):
You know it was good sleep because that boy had
the hay Is cuff. You know, go back to it cut, Shami.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
BG. I know you're in New York.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
I know you barely traveled ninety minutes from your home.
But since this game is being played internationally today, I.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Feel like you could blame the jet lag. Just do it.
Just try it on for size.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Okay, like you're not sure what time's on, you're in
you had to take a nap because you're all turned around.

Speaker 6 (03:01):
Well, you know it was last That's crazy knowing that
I had to be up at three just so I
can make it make it out about four o'clock.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Can I give you guys some backstory to this? Okay,
I come storming into the office.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
I'm not exactly quiet when I get in here.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
Okay, bring the picture up full. This dude is so asleep.
He's not just nodding all. He is an r e
ms wee we we we we.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
I took the picture six different times. I took one
right up in his face. I'm stepping away. I'm doing
a whole Legowitz photo shoot. This dude didn't even stir.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
He didn't. I said the paper in the back. I'm like, hey,
look at this. Let me let me see the paper talking.

Speaker 9 (03:43):
What we're doing.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
Boy? The script didn't even make it. I was where's
a couple of a couple of coffee going, coffee going?
That second one a.

Speaker 10 (03:52):
Cup of coffee.

Speaker 11 (03:53):
There was a cup of coffee on the ground, and
that one out on the ground, and that one brok, Come.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
On, hey, I am BG. You're supposed to drink the coffee.

Speaker 6 (04:01):
Bro You're supposed to drink it to get you might
have been AI.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
That's a real that's oh. You guys must.

Speaker 8 (04:08):
Have kids, right, So all of our kids covered themselves
in a different way.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
My daughter used to do the two figures in the.

Speaker 9 (04:13):
Mouth like Maggie. Right.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
Some kids have the little comfort blanket.

Speaker 12 (04:16):
That boy, Jesus, he's sweeping, sweeping morning show.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
I mean, you got your hands full of like you're
in a casket.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
All right, Well you got all your nine night time Brandon,
and you come here and you.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
Give us that big smile.

Speaker 9 (04:42):
You know what.

Speaker 6 (04:43):
It's training camp for me in this right, training camp.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Sleep right now, Thank you for that.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Let's we'll get to the highlightway, all right.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
Seahawks Cardinals.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Maybe that's why he is sleeping's staying up watching this
electric entertainment and on Amazon Prime, Sam.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
Donald, he's making it work, guys. Kyler murt is he
making it work, man, He's trying.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
He's having some problems with his wide receiver one.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
But down seven to late, they're.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Gonna check it down and tie up the game.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
They came right.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Look twenty eight seconds left, so we're gonna get some
overtime right. Well, not exactly, because we talked about this
a lot in the first hour.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
This is fascinating.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
After the Cardinals kicked short of the landing zone and
give the ball to Saddle at the forty, it's just
a matter of one throwout a JSN and then we're
gonna get up on the ball. Thirteen seconds, six seconds.
We'd ripping smelling soft as a kicker. Wow, you don't
see that much even on the field.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
But it works. Game over.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Seahawks win a lot of scuttle but about kickoffs and
about these setbacks of Marvin Harrison Junior, who did come
running late in the game make a couple of big plays,
but he also led to two interceptions.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
Early for Kyler Seahawks three and one, three and one, folks. Afterwards,
our colleague.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Bridge to con from NFL Network caught up with Seahawks
quarterback Devin Witherspoon.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
A lot of players I spoke with on your team
this week told me that they wanted to show the
world what you're capable of saying.

Speaker 13 (06:16):
They knew how good this team was, but maybe not
getting the national recognition.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
What did you show out here that the Seattle Seahawks are.

Speaker 10 (06:22):
I mean, you got to play us for four quarters.
I mean we just put it on tape.

Speaker 14 (06:24):
I mean, I think other teams ron Lee know what's
going on, especially on the defensive side of the fall
defense side of the ball.

Speaker 10 (06:29):
But we played team football over here. Man. We don't
singing nobody out.

Speaker 14 (06:32):
We just come out here, play hard, play physical, and
you feel me, we just come out and play four quarters.

Speaker 10 (06:36):
Together as a team.

Speaker 14 (06:37):
You know, we got to need each other's back, so
when it's time to step up, the other side got
each other.

Speaker 10 (06:41):
So that's how we do it over here.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
That's how they do it over there.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
How we do it here is talk about games on
a Friday, and look, Manti hold on, Isaiah, stand back.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Let's talk about the Packers game this weekend. Isaiah stand back.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Your thoughts on the Green Bay Packers heading into this weekend.

Speaker 10 (07:00):
That'd be very quiet.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
Mantid Tao talk about. Oh I don't know the Steals.
Oh look man, time eyes up.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Here, buddy, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up,
wake up, wake up.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
I was up to many guys, all right there. Yeah
we're good. We're good. Yeah, we're bad.

Speaker 11 (07:14):
We're talking about Packers, yeah, just to.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
Talk about it. Yeah yeah yeah.

Speaker 11 (07:21):
I need the Packers to win, guys, I really do,
because I did choose them in my Survivor series. So
I need the Packers to win this Sunday, now, I do.
I have gone against the grain on my picks. However,
I do know that the Packers are coming off an
upset loss last week to the Browns, so I do
think they're that they're very, very hungry. Oh so I
do know Mike Michael Parsons is going back home to Dallas,

(07:41):
so I expect him to put on a show there.
And Jordan Love and that offense, it seems to be
they're they're jelling there.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
So that's what.

Speaker 11 (07:47):
I'm looking forward to seeing this Packers show down down
there in Dallas.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
It's gonna be crazy. Man.

Speaker 7 (07:52):
I watch a lot of film in regards the Dallas
Cowboys because I work obviously on their platform, so I
believe that this game is going to be closer than people,
you know, believe that it's going to be. I think
that the defensive line for or the Green Bay has
an advantage over the offensive line for Dallas, and that
can present a problem. Dallas is down to their second
center and their third right guard that is in Bold

(08:12):
Well for a defensive line that likes to line up
Michael Parsons over the interior offensive linement. So I don't
foresee that being a good thing for Dallas. They have
to figure out exactly how to get their passing game
going without Ceedee Lamb. I think Green Bay most likely
comes out with the dub on this one.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
Last time they were.

Speaker 7 (08:27):
In at and T Stadium, it was in the playoffs
and then did not in well for Dallas.

Speaker 6 (08:30):
What do you think, Well, I feel it's gonna be
the same thing as playoffs, man, because you let go
of one of your best players on your team. Then
you got a CD Lamb who's hurt right now, who
you really need in this type of game, this type
of atmosphere, especially at home. Then Michael still has his suite.
He has a suite, and man, I know he's gonna
have a bunch of people up in there every cheering,

(08:53):
them all going crazy, and it's a statement game for him.
It's one of them games where it's gonna be demon
time for him.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
He's ready, he's ready to go after.

Speaker 6 (09:02):
Why can't I think of the court that he's ready
to go after that and go get him? And I
can't wait to see, you know, him go off, because
I know that feeling of Man, I've.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
Never went nowhere else, but I remember being.

Speaker 6 (09:14):
Mad at the Eagles and wanted to go somewhere else.
But I know what I would have felt like if
if they shipped me off, especially because they don't want
to pay me, And then I'm gonna make a pay
for it. And then the guy like Michael Parson has
already showed us why he's the best player on that
field and why he's gonna show them this weekend.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Tell me more about that brand.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
And like you mentioned that you played the Eagles your
whole career, you almost didn't, you even got triggered. Yeah,
he straight up before the season was traded for draft picks,
not even players, draft picks, And now a few weeks
later he plays him.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
How's he feeling. He's feeling good?

Speaker 6 (09:46):
He's like, thank you for shipping me off to a
team that at least y'all gonna play so that I
could show man, y'all made a big mistake. And Micah,
I'm with you all the way, man, because that's that's
that's it's business. But at the end of the day,
it's never personal. It's all still business for him. But
he's gonna go out there and make some more money
by probably going to get three sacks in his game.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
Well, you mentioned something too. I think it's fascinating for
people at home might not understand.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Tell us about Micah's sweet How he still has it?
Why does he How does a visiting player have a
suite in a stadium he's not even playing for that team.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
Well, I don't get that. Probably, I don't know. I
don't know that.

Speaker 6 (10:21):
That's kind of crazy to me just seeing just seeing
that he still has a suite. But at least he's
still making money because I'm sure on days he's not there,
which is only this week, he's only there this week,
and then afterwards he's selling selling nose tickets hopefully damn
all right, all.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Right, listen, we mentioned this yesterday. Who we want to
hear from after this game. I just feel like, and Isaiah,
I mean, you're tapped into this.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
It's one thing. If the Packers win or whatever.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
If Michah Parsons goes and has like two and a
half sacks and a strip sack or or something like that,
I want to hear from Jerry. But you know what,
you know what I think Jerry is going to be
doing after the game. I bring up we have actually
a picture of it. Here's going to be Jerry Jones
after the game. If Micah Parsons has two and a half,

(11:08):
mister Jones is not available for tom at this point,
and they're knocking on the door now, mister mister Jones
not available for Colin.

Speaker 4 (11:15):
That's a meme, now, Bro that it's out there. I'm
definitely about to tag me and that one.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
Oh that in that take Brandon Graham and his beautiful
orange sweatshirt and lot the baby hands and just run
with that.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
Jane Yard, I'll get in here from Dublin.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Look alive, BG.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
You can't come in here and behave like this on
the set of Good Morning Football and not think.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
That Kyle Brand is coming for you.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
BG.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
I need you to and I know you can work harder,
grind harder, find something that you can document of Kyle
and put it on the show, because there is no
other way to play this game sometimes than to just
volley it right back at him.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
So, BG, I have faith in you. Okay, buddy, you
got this.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
I got this. I probably it was like they say,
and taken good luck, come and get him.

Speaker 8 (12:02):
I'm gonna mention that this is this is going to
be personal.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
I know, I know you say business.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
I will it's personal now.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
Yeah, And that also could be a documented photo of
what some of the players feel like coming across the ocean.
The Steelers and the Vikings. They've arrived in Dublin now,
and they always try to sleep on the flights.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
But essentially what we've learned from.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
These teams when they do this is it doesn't matter
what you do on the plane overnight, you are going
to stay awake when you get here.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
The coaches for both of these teams are on a.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Mission to get these guys in sunlight, to make them practice,
to keep them moving, because the second you put them
in traffic on a bus, they're going to look like
Brandon Graham cruising around town in Dublin.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
So they try to.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Keep these guys awake and get their blood pumping so
they can get on some sort of optimal sleep schedule tonight.
So the Steelers are here. We're at Carton House. It's
where this team is playing. Other teams that have common
trains here in Western Dublin, Newcastle Real, Madrid, Chelsea Football Club.
So this is a prime spot for some of the
most elite athletes to come and practice. The Steelers are here,

(13:04):
the Kings are elsewhere in Dublin. Since the Steelers are here,
we were able to attend Mike Tomlin's press conference as
well in Aaron Rodgers' availability, and the quarterback spoke about
a lot of things that he has discovered about his
time with Pittsburgh, but there is one truth that will
remain for him, and that is something he will consume
the second he steps foot on Irish territory.

Speaker 15 (13:25):
Well, I like my Guinness on tap. I haven't seen
any taps around here, but I went to years ago,
I was on the island in a different country on
this island, and I had to go to four different
bars to find a Guinness on tap. So I'm hoping
that's not the case tonight.

Speaker 10 (13:42):
I'm the.

Speaker 9 (13:44):
I wants to work with coach Toman.

Speaker 15 (13:47):
Work with since you joined better than the expectation, honestly,
and the expectations were pretty high based on what I'd
heard about him. But he's a great leader and great
in front of the room, the epitome of a player's
coach in that he he you know, stretch is the
importance of accountability. But he has a personal relationship with

(14:08):
guys in a way that he does very effortlessly. So
it's been a lot of fun work with Mike. He's
a fantastic guy, fantastic coach in this great organization too.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
A couple other things that Aaron Rodgers spoke about in
his time with his availability with the media here is that,
like he mentioned, he's been to Northern Ireland. He has
been around and actually golfed in a group behind Rory McElroy,
who of course hails from Northern Ireland. So he is
aware of obviously the most elite athletes at their game.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Now.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
The other thing that was asked of Mike Tomlin ahead
of the game this weekend is if Tomlin was aware
of what this Brian Flores defense did to Aaron Rodgers
last year with the Jets, which is throw a handful
of interceptions and pretty much turned that Jets offense upside down.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
Tomlin admitted that.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
Yes, of course he's going to look at that tape,
but also the last time a Brian Flores coach defense
went up against an Arthur Smith led offense.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
So we are really getting into the weeds here.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Since these two teams have care that are very much
a part of their team, kind of crossing hairs Kyle
all over the NFL. Preparation is a must, especially if
you are going on very little sleep, like Brandon Graham
knows all too well.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
You know it, But Jamie, you were on fire. I
feel like you got twelve hours last night. Even though
that's not the case, it sounds like that's the case. Now,
please do what you do, get in some adventures, get
some hijinks, give us some color back from Ireland.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
He doing fantastically, and we're going to follow up on
what we did yesterday.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
So there's something called splitting the g and it involves
Guinness that Aaron Rodgers just referenced, where you drink a
Guinness until it stops right in the middle of the logo.
It's really difficult to do Jamie tried it twice and
she kind of left it short both times. I know
she's been kicking herself about it, but she gave it
her best try.

Speaker 4 (15:48):
I've never tried before, BRANDI ever tried that. No, I've
never tried it.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
All right, well, we're going to do our own version
of it on Good Morning Football right after this. What
NFL player needs to hit the mark perfectly this weekend?

Speaker 11 (15:58):
Plus what else man t Tayo plus Week three, we
saw the Bears get their first win. How does Caleb
Williams and the offense follow it up Sunday they are
in Las Vegas?

Speaker 4 (16:08):
Do they get win number two?

Speaker 11 (16:09):
We would discuss this with Bears legend and longtime front
of the show Matt.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
Forte is JIMFB on a Friday.

Speaker 16 (16:16):
Let's go Good Morning Football.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
It's a true honor here on Good Morning Football. It's
not only be in Dublin, Ireland. Ahead of this Sunday
morning matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and the Pittsburgh Steelers,
the first ever regular season game, even though the Steelers
have quite a history in this country.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
Regular season is the most important part of this. The
scene is gorgeous.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
We are in front of a golf course where the
Steelers are staying and practicing, and I am now joined
by a new teammate of mine, Pam Oliver.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
Who won Good Morning Football.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
I first time, Pam, first time. Thank you. We're honored.

Speaker 13 (17:03):
I'm great, and it's so great to be with you.
We're going to work Sunday together.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
So I can't believe this for me? Is this?

Speaker 2 (17:08):
What is your history working sideline on international games?

Speaker 13 (17:12):
I did one London game. It was years ago, okay,
and that was that was one and.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
Done, one and done.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Well, now they're bringing you back for a pretty important one.
It just feels like there's such historical contexts and importance
to this. As I mentioned, you'll be on the Steelers sideline.
I'll be on the Viking sideline. But let's talk about
the Steelers a little bit, shall we. Specifically, people kind
of love the history that you have with the quarterback
of the Steelers now, but a lot of that had

(17:39):
to do with his time in Green Bay.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
Do you have a rough.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
Estimate of the years or the games covered of Aaron
Rodgers with the Packers.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
It was his.

Speaker 13 (17:47):
Entirety, it was the entirety while he was behind bred yep,
So it would have been the whole thing. Every now
and then we'll talk a little bit about it, but
just to watch him start finally behind Bred and watch
his ascent and watch him grow, it was really special
to me. He's one of those guys who were like,

(18:09):
you seem to have a great rapport with him, and
I do, and you know, I'm really happy about that
because he doesn't let a lot of people in and
because of that, you really just have to be true
to what he is. And he's different. You know, he's mercurial,
he's interesting, he's a lot of things. So to kind

(18:34):
of watch him brides like that, it would have been
immediately after he started.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
How do you think that that happened for you specifically?
Was it just as in football terms, time on task?

Speaker 4 (18:45):
Was it?

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Do you have a moment or a part of his
life or your life even where you really felt like
the friendship was established.

Speaker 13 (18:53):
Yeah, there were a couple of things, but it's more recent.
It's been later. I think in our relationship that because
we were both looking at each other knowing that this
is going to end soon and you just want to
show appreciation to a person that's meant a lot to you,
as a professional and some of the things that he's

(19:15):
been able to do, and I think he looks at
me and he thinks that someone who's been fair. That
is my greatest goal with any kind of player relationship
is just to be fair and to meet these guys
where they are instead of like, well, why isn't he
doing the media this week? Sure, you know what if

(19:35):
you don't want to do it this week, Yeah, he's human,
I'll get you next time. So I think that that
has a lot to do with what our relationship is.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
It's an important lesson for anyone, frankly getting into television.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Or sports is to be fair.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
So I want everybody to hear that doesn't just pertain
to Aaron Rodgers. Something else you said struck me, which
is in his time backing up Brett Faarv and we
chatted with him about this a little bit in our
time with him ahead of the game on Sunday, which
is we are really in an error right now with
young quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
Where everyone is obsessed with should you start him, should
you mention him, how much do you rest him?

Speaker 10 (20:10):
It's a tough one.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
What do you remember of Aaron at that time when
he was behind because it's easy to look back and
be like, I was happy.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
As a client. What was he like?

Speaker 10 (20:18):
He was impatient?

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Impatient?

Speaker 13 (20:20):
He was impatient. There's no end in sight when Brett
Farve is in front of you and he's performing at
a high level, So what's next when do I get
my shot? I think he was a good soldier and
all of that, and how helpful was Brett. I mean
that was always a topic of discussion, but and Aaron's

(20:41):
mentioned some things about that. But with the young quarterback controversy, questions,
however you want to put it, He's got great things
to say on that, and you know he's speaking from
a sage position, and it's an interesting conversation. It's a
fascinating conversation here how this veteran quarterback looks at putting

(21:05):
these young kids in because he had the benefit of waiting.
He mentioned Jordan Love having the benefit of waiting. So
I think you look at that and you look at
the roadkill for lack of a better roadkill. Yeah, it's sad,

(21:27):
but some of these organizations, you just got to look
at that organization and figure out what they're about.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
It's an oftentimes mismanaged situation. You've seen it all though,
which is is it feels like in a way that
you can tell really beautiful stories and you can identify
the fairness and the roadkill along the way. And because
of that, because of how you've handled yourself in all
your years, you're going into the Sports Broadcasting.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
Hall of Fame in December, are you not. I congratulations,
Thank you so much.

Speaker 13 (21:59):
I got that called Jamie, and I was beside myself.
I was cheering, I was calls were coming in and
it just doesn't seem like I've been at this long enough.
I know I have, but it just feels ah surreal,
and I'm in some excellent company and it's really heady stuff.

(22:22):
But I'm honored that they looked at my body of
bork and said come join us.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
Well again, it's congratulations is not a large enough word
to say to you when it comes to this accomplishment.
But what I have known of you now in watching
your work and also getting to know you in our
time together ahead of this game, what I'm observing is
that your body of work was honored because you are
the same person on and off, and I think players
and coaches recognize that. The people that watch you on

(22:50):
TV recognize that. I know growing up in Minnesota watching
you and Vikings fans, they love you for your coverage.
So once again on behalf of Good Morning Football, and
I'm speaking for all of us.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
Congratulations so cool of this.

Speaker 4 (23:03):
Watch a Sunday. We're gonna kill it.

Speaker 17 (23:05):
Yeah, are the NFL is teaming up with the American
Cancer Society for our annual Crucial Catch campaign. Raiders running
Back Rahemoser recounts his battle with skin cancer, stressing the
importance of regular screenings for everyone.

Speaker 18 (23:29):
Honestly, I've never even thought about sun protection growing up
in Central Florida, you know, being beachside all day every day,
I never really thought about.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
Putting sunscreen on.

Speaker 18 (23:39):
And obviously you know my skin colors, well, you know,
I thought I was immune to the sun. You know,
you need to protect yourself, no matter the skin type.

Speaker 19 (23:52):
So when you're looking at your body, find anything that
looks a little off or regular, sometimes a flat or
large mole, bring that up to your doctor and point
out exactly how that has been changing from year to year.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
Hey don't little big boys again?

Speaker 1 (24:06):
Well love them.

Speaker 18 (24:07):
So one message that I hope fans will take aways
that you know, you should go and get your skin check,
go and do everything you can.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
I think that that's the most.

Speaker 18 (24:15):
Important thing is Look, you gotta remember your body's still
a temple.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
At the end of the day.

Speaker 18 (24:22):
Felt like I hear you get back in the groove.

Speaker 17 (24:26):
Head over to NFL dot com forward slash crucial catch
to find cancer prevention and screening.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
Resources near you and Kyle, that is such.

Speaker 17 (24:34):
An important message you think about it. These players are
out there on the field, even fans in the stands,
they're sitting in the sun, even it's a little cloudy, snowy.

Speaker 13 (24:42):
It's really a great reminder.

Speaker 4 (24:44):
It's a great reminder.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
It's a great message coaches, fans, players, everybody.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
Hope you are paying attention.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
I hope you follow that advice, and I hope you
are ready for our next guest. Because he is a fantastic,
fantastic player who had an incredible career, finished his career
with over fourteen thousand total yards seventy five touchdowns. I
remember him vividly coming to Chicago Bears out of two,
laying a fantastic player at number twenty two. In an
old front of the show, Matt Forday, what's up about you?

Speaker 9 (25:10):
Maybe glad to be here.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
Glad to have you.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
We got a whole cast of characters today and we're
all smiled seeing you because we know you've always had
something going on.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
Matt.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
From the second you entered the league, you did it differently.
From the second you left the league, you did it differently.
But one question will follow you around for your entire
entire life. What do you make of the bears big
time win over the Cowboys last week? Matt Sporte getting
Soldier Field rocking. What are your thoughts right now in
the twenty twenty five Bears.

Speaker 20 (25:38):
Yeah, they're growing right now and I'm I'm glad they
got their first win under the belt. I'm glad coach
Ben Johnson got his first win as well. I feel
like they're in a groove now that he can kind
of mold and shape Kaylor into the quarterback that he
wants them to be and that he can be.

Speaker 9 (25:53):
He's got all the tools, you know.

Speaker 20 (25:55):
It's I think up front on the offensive line we
need We got some holes up there that needs to
be answered to help us out.

Speaker 9 (26:00):
But we got some injuries on defense.

Speaker 20 (26:02):
But going forward, this is actually a big game this
week against the Raiders out there in Vegas than I
think the last two weeks, because now we're going to
see was last week a fluke against Cowboys or is
this something real that's going to continue to go forward?

Speaker 11 (26:15):
So Bigger was talking about this week and going to
the Raiders. How do you think they avoid that narrative
of it being a fluke? What do they have to
do after a big game last week to carry it
over that momentum into a second win in a row.

Speaker 20 (26:29):
Yeah, you guys know, after coming off a big win,
it doesn't really matter anymore. So you got to go
forward this week with a new mind and new set
and new goals out there. But I think the key
to this game is going to be executional offense, staying
in third and shorts, not getting thirty longs and no
preaching that penalties. And on the defensive side, they got
to stop the rookie. They got to stop the run
and shut the rundown. Last week they were a little

(26:52):
lenient or a lot of linien on the run, So
we can't have that happen this week.

Speaker 6 (26:56):
Hey, Matt, we've seen how everybody responded to Ben Johnson
last week. Do you think he got what it takes
to turn the corner right now for the Bears.

Speaker 9 (27:05):
I think he does. I think he's charismatic.

Speaker 20 (27:07):
I like his speeches that he gives pregame and post
game and how he inspires the team. I think he
is a good fit for the team. I think that
going forward, he can turn the corner. And I think
it's just going to come down to everybody coming together.
You know, when it comes down to leadership, it's more
than just about one person. So if everybody can come

(27:29):
together and unify and be able to have that one
goal and have a lot more of what we're seeing
on the screen right now, that excitement in the locker
room after the game, then they can turn the corner.

Speaker 9 (27:39):
I think Ben Johnson can do it.

Speaker 7 (27:40):
Matt, you've had some time to reflect on your time
with the Bears.

Speaker 4 (27:43):
We know how near and dear that is your heart.

Speaker 7 (27:45):
You actually have a new memoir and it's called stay
in the Game, Making the most of every season.

Speaker 4 (27:50):
Now, help us understand.

Speaker 7 (27:52):
What spurred this, what motivated you, and what was the
process of you writing this.

Speaker 9 (27:56):
Yeah, the process was in depth too.

Speaker 20 (27:59):
I went back to childhood all the way through Hurricane Katrina,
Lane and through my career which was a decade long
in the NFL, but then also post career, which if
I'm being transparent on as a lot of guys struggle
post career.

Speaker 9 (28:16):
You guys are doing great things.

Speaker 20 (28:17):
I'm excited that you guys are on TV and talking
football and taking care of your families. But a lot
of guys that have come from where we come from
and have played the same career don't always make it
out on the other side in that way. So I
try to draw an attention to what's different about success.
There's an earthly success and then there's a success that
looks different that comes into significance. There's a difference between

(28:40):
success and significance, and I'm going to draw attention to that.
And because it's not just in sports, it's in every
facet of life that you can take these assets that
we learned from football of discipline and commitment and dedication
and sacrifice that you can transfer into anything you do
in life other than sports.

Speaker 4 (28:59):
O beg.

Speaker 11 (28:59):
Lussier boys been somebody of significance both on and off
the football field. Another person that was significant for the
Chicago Bears is long time your longtime teammate Devin Hester.
You guys had the story how you made the decision
to retire together as bears tell us a little bit
about that.

Speaker 20 (29:15):
Yeah, we were both towards the end of our careers
and h Devin was struggling with a with a turf
toe injury, and when I decided to sign a one
day contract and retire, he would called me hit me.
I was like, hey, I'm going to retire too, and
I was like, well, let's just do it on the
same same day at Hallis Hall because we often actually

(29:36):
at at Hallas Hall, we had lockers right next to
each other for all the years that I was there,
So me and Devn are really close in that aspect,
and our families know each other, so it was it
was kind of almost a coincidence. But at the same time,
it was it was like retiring with your brother that
you that you played played with and you know, was
out at practice every day with him, and like I

(29:57):
got to see greatness in the flesh, you know. I
got to see the majority of Devin's returns throughout his
entire career and a record breaking and Hall of Fame
type of career.

Speaker 4 (30:06):
He had just the best man.

Speaker 1 (30:08):
I'm looking at these pictures that bring it back members
I'm seeing Johnny Knox, Greg Olsen, Roberto Garza, like all
of the Ogs and all of these great players.

Speaker 4 (30:16):
Matt. I read the book. I loved the book.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
I want to tell every Bears fan out there get
this book. It's nostalgia, it's football. Every NFL fan, stay
in the game, making the most of every season.

Speaker 4 (30:28):
One of the things I like that you.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
Talked about, Matt was you had a Welcome to the
NFL moment on the field, and then you also had
one that was not in a game, Like, could you
just tell me what you remember about those moments, because
this book is fantastic, dude.

Speaker 9 (30:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 20 (30:41):
Yeah, Welcome to the NFL was definitely early for me
when it came against Indianapolis Coast in that two thousand
and eight Sunday night football game, you know, playing against
Peyton Manning and the It's kind of a rematch of
the Super Bowl from six, which I was not in.
But it was a big game and nobody was really
giving us a chance. And I broke off like a
fifty yard touchdown in the first half, and I thought

(31:03):
I had it made. I caught a screen pass and
was running and I think Gary Brackett or somebody like that.
I ran and I was like dragging, dragging him and
Bob Sanders, you know, everybody knows.

Speaker 9 (31:17):
My man almost blew my shoulder off.

Speaker 20 (31:20):
And that was that was a moment that shaped me
going forward because I came out of the game, but
I stayed in the game, and I actually took a
few plays off and then went back in and I
learned that, hey, sometimes you live to fight another day.
Like they say on Friday, you live to fight another day.
And you got to go down and then you go,
you know, play the rest of the game.

Speaker 4 (31:40):
I hear you, man, come on, Crag, come on, Crag. Listen, man, listen.

Speaker 7 (31:46):
I can't help but to look behind you, man, and
I see the Chase Business logo back there, and I
believe that you've partnered up with the Chase Business to
help support small businesses and you're a part of a
big event today to help further that mission.

Speaker 4 (31:58):
Tell us a little bit about it.

Speaker 20 (31:59):
Yeah, I'm speaking to sixty of the graduates for the
Chase for Business Coaching for Impact here in Chicago, and
it's an individualized coaching aspect that each small business owner
entrepreneur gets their own personal coach to walk them through
and guide them through the ups and downs of entrepreneurship.
And it's tough. It's actually just kind of like playing

(32:23):
in the NFL. There's always ups and downs, there's different seasons.
And I can actually speak, you know, towards this because
I'm a small business owner myself. I started a clothing
line called Workhorse, and there's been ups and downs within that,
but you know, you got to continue on the grind.
It's something that you got to be passionate about and
you got to believe in yourself and what you want
to do more than anybody else.

Speaker 4 (32:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (32:46):
Hey, Matt, I'm with you on that, And I was
going to ask you that leads to my question, what's
one piece of advice that you would give anybody seeking
to start a business or just have success in general.

Speaker 20 (32:57):
Yeah, anybody seeking to start a business or have success
in general. I say, you have to be passionate about
what you're going to do, and it has to be
it has to be something deeper than an idea. It
has to be a calling, something that you're passionate about,
and honestly the result of it has to be more
than just about you. If it's just about you, I'm

(33:18):
gonna do this because I want to make money or
do that. Man, that's that's going to go out the
window so quick. But if it's helping other people, that's
sustainability right there. And when you have entrepreneurship or you
start your own business, sustainability is huge and that's key.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
That's a different type of dude right there. Always insightful.
And listen, Matt. I remember vividly that Bears Colts game
to start off the O eight season, just thinking like, damn,
this guy from.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
Tulane can play.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
We got a player here with the Bears, and now
set the tone for your entire career on the.

Speaker 4 (33:48):
Field, off the field.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
Everybody, if you're watching as a Bears fan, a football fan, anything,
get Matt's book. It is fascinating. Good luck today, Matt.
People looking to purchase your book, tell them one more time.
What is it called? Then where can they find it?

Speaker 20 (34:00):
Yeah, it's called Staying the Game, Making the most very
season and October seventh is when it drops.

Speaker 9 (34:06):
But it's available everywhere for pre order right now.

Speaker 4 (34:08):
Pre order that thing.

Speaker 1 (34:09):
Slam that button, and Matt Forte, you are the best
old old friend of Good Morning Football, going back years.
I hope we can do this again, and good luck
with everything, my man.

Speaker 4 (34:17):
Maybe great to see your brother there you goes, Oh wait,
this is it. This is the game. This is first game,
Bunk said.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
It's not getting them there, see there, Let's go back,
give me that.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
Football.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
I've stumbled upon a challenge that happens in Ireland putting
the g.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
Okay, So the G in the Guinness.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
If you're looking at the font has this little bridge here,
so you're supposed to in your first wig get as
close to the line of the G as you can.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
Keep going, Keep going, Jamie, that's probably about it.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
Let's go all right everywhere.

Speaker 1 (35:10):
I'll go day stay day over there day.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
So disappointed in myself.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
Just for the sake of making good television, I should
have overshot the second one and then I could have
at least claimed like.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
Oh I could just meet it in the middle to
split the G perfectly. Guys.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
I tried it once more after the show the Guinness.
It catches up to you over here. It's real authentic Guinness.
People were asking me if it was like the zero
point zero percent Guinness.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
Do you know me? Have you been watching the Morning Football?

Speaker 16 (35:42):
How there?

Speaker 2 (35:42):
You asked me that splitting the G it's a grand
old game. I'm gonna participate later. And uh it's it's
everyone's trying it. It's all the rage here in Dublin, Ireland.
But guys, it did lend itself to a question I
have about the slate of games this weekend. All Right,
we love Steelers Vikings, but there's a ton.

Speaker 3 (36:00):
To watch after that.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
So here comes the question, right now, man type, Yes,
split the G. Who has to have the perfect performance?
Split the G just to be like right there, right
in the middle, you just nail it perfectly?

Speaker 3 (36:16):
Split the G. Who's got to do that? This week?

Speaker 11 (36:17):
And on Sunday, well, the Houston Texans are playing the
Tennessee Titans in if there's anybody that's split the GMB perfect,
it's got to be CJ.

Speaker 4 (36:24):
Stroud. I think CJ.

Speaker 11 (36:25):
Strow the first few weeks has struggled a little bit
and overshooting the G. He's overshot some of his quarterbacks,
I mean, some of his receivers. And if you look
at it this year, what's the difference between this year
and last.

Speaker 4 (36:35):
Year of the past two years. I think he really
misses Tank Dell.

Speaker 11 (36:39):
But the good news is Christian Kirk is back healthy
for the past two weeks. He was back last week.
They target They targeted him a lot last week. I
think there's going to be a lot more targets going
to tank Christian Kirk, and that's going to open things
up for the run game and for Nickel Collins. So
if there's anybody that's got to be perfect.

Speaker 4 (36:56):
It's got to be my boy c J.

Speaker 9 (36:57):
Straw.

Speaker 7 (36:57):
All right, you're rocking with c J. I am not
going to select a player. I'm going to select somebody
who's under the most heat, and I think that is
Mike mc daniel down there in Miami. I think that
he has to pitch a perfect game because he is
owing three. He's twenty eight and twenty five over his career.
He's facing the own three Jets, So if they lose
against these guys, you could almost think about blowing the

(37:18):
whole thing up. He has one of the highest paid quarterbacks,
his number one weapon is not doing well.

Speaker 4 (37:23):
It's just not good in Miami Land.

Speaker 7 (37:25):
So I think that this is probably the most important
game of his career. He has to split the g
and hit this thing on the money, otherwise it's going
to be problems in Miamiville.

Speaker 6 (37:33):
Hey, Isaiah, I feel you, man. I'm not even gonna
go a player either. I'm going with the Eagles strength
and medical staff. Got Tom Huncle and Fernando Noriega. They
have to make sure that they pouring that water and
them guys smile so that day, yo. Yeah, make sure

(37:54):
the boys hydrated and ready for this heat because it's
time to go for and no, baby, we got to
go get the win.

Speaker 4 (37:59):
Get that win this week.

Speaker 6 (38:00):
And if he got the he got the most important
job this week has making show these guys are hydrated
and ready to go so they can get back in
the game.

Speaker 1 (38:08):
Can we go back to Tom on the beer? I
just want to imagine being this dude. This is a
longtime trainer for the Eagles, right, He's just going through
his day and now he is sitting with his face
and a beer on an NFL network.

Speaker 4 (38:21):
What's Tom Friday morning?

Speaker 9 (38:22):
Like?

Speaker 4 (38:22):
BG, are you kidding me?

Speaker 6 (38:23):
You probably on a plane because they hit it down early.

Speaker 4 (38:26):
Just for the heat.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
I nen't looked that thrilled to be in that beer,
but I don't like I never met Tom before. I
love that you picked him. It's absolutely that's why you're here.
I'm gonna with respect to Tom, I wish I could
go with the trainer too, but I'm just gonna go
with a quarterback, Michael Pennix Junior.

Speaker 4 (38:43):
Let's go, my man, Let's go. Let's have a week.
Let's split the g.

Speaker 1 (38:47):
Let's split the defense, Let's split all the conversations. The
conversation is, it was a rough week last week, and
it is setting off this title wave of Kirk Cousins
name getting mentioned.

Speaker 4 (38:58):
You know, Matt Ryan has to weigh in on this.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
There was a great report that I liked that Michael
Pennix went around to all the defensive players on the
Falcons that said, I got to do better and I'm
going to do more. This guy's way too young and
way too cool and way too talented to have this
kind of stuff being said about him already. You know
what he's playing, Washington. Just look at the word Washington
and get comfortable. You went to Washington. It should make
you comfortable. It's a different Washington. It doesn't matter. You

(39:23):
should play well. If the Commander's quarterback is going to
be out, the Falcons quarterback is still in, and it's
you split the g and shut up the haters.

Speaker 4 (39:31):
Jamier at all in Dublin, Ireland. What do you got?

Speaker 2 (39:34):
I mean, I had to say, Aaron Rodgers, don't I
The man has mentioned Guinness more time than I feel like,
more times than than a commercial that I've seen back
in the States. We have fully understood that Aaron Rodgers
thinks that the tap Guinness in Ireland is perfection. I
myself have tested it professionally and I agree with him.
But I do think it's Rogers, both literally and figuratively.

(39:56):
Apparently he's going to participate just a little bit, but
I think he's got to say eyes on the prize
for the Steelers this weekend.

Speaker 3 (40:02):
There's so much weight.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
Watching Rogers play and watching him operate as a human
and the pressure that the Steelers as a logo have
on them this season, whether it you're looking at the
head coach or the quarterback. The defense hasn't really played
up to the best of their capabilities. But if you're
Aaron Rodgers and you know that Brian Flores is an
absolute maniac with talent all over the field defensively, Rogers,

(40:26):
you got to split the g This weekend on NFL
Network Sunday Morning Football, Steelers Vikings I'm.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
Gonna know me.

Speaker 4 (40:31):
It's well said.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
And last time Aaron Rodgers went ten, you're up to
play a football game. He was picked six by Andrew
Van Ginkel and his head coach was fired. So let's
look up for Rogers and the Steelers. Guys, we have
one more segment left. There's a big old beer over
Isaiah's giant shoulder and I love seeing it.

Speaker 4 (40:47):
Don't go anywhere. It is a Friday before game weekend.
We had all kinds of things to still get into.
Stay right where you are more, Goomady football after this.

Speaker 2 (40:54):
Global sensation and singer songwriter Miles Smith headlines a special
halftime performance during this weekend's international game in Dublin between
the Vikings and the Steelers. You can listen to his
latest single Stay If you want to dance, Stay if
you want to play in a football game, watch him
Sunday morning and his half time performance. Check him out
Apple Music and catch this weekend's game on NFL.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
Network or NFL Plus. Dublin's been great. Can I present
to you this sign that I brought with me in
my luggage.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
I got somebody telling me right here that they watched
Good Morning Football all the time.

Speaker 4 (41:28):
This is awesome. I can't believe it.

Speaker 11 (41:30):
So I went to church today and get so I
saw Ben Roethlis for a good number seven.

Speaker 6 (41:35):
It's yea.

Speaker 10 (41:37):
The Steels are definitely gonna win. Guys.

Speaker 3 (41:38):
This is Daryl.

Speaker 2 (41:39):
Hi, your accents lovely.

Speaker 3 (41:44):
How long have you watched Good Morning Football?

Speaker 15 (41:45):
Daryl?

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
