see him again at some point in the playoffs. So
now we're happy with the win now, and she gotta

my advice for him.

I mean, what would you take away from a competitive
game like that against this team? I say, this is
probably the worst game we're gonna play all year.

So if this is the best that they got, I mean,
good luck in the postseason.

Absolutely very little. I mean, that's the guys who have

I thought the highlight was spot on was showing how
happy Patrick Mahomes was when the game ended and when
that went down to the shoelace because I think he
saw Lamar coming and frankly, the way the Ravens have
been playing, they very easily could have converted on that
two point conversion because Lamar was just picking up the
team as that game went on.
Speaker 8 (04:37):
Yeah, Lamar was going I mean total too. But Lamar
to me, like Lamar showed me that he is Lamar
and Lamar Jackson is an MVP player. We know that,
two time MVP player. But just the way the throws
that he was making finding his receivers Xavier Worthy, the
way they utilized RPO on this thing, I'm like, it's
a dangerous combination, especially in the early in the game

when you saw them running RPO with with Derrick Henry
and the way they utilized that getting off into the
edge when he it's that edge, he's eighty eight and
out the gate. I love Lamar Jackson. I really thought
that they were going to pull this game off. That
one toll, that one toe changed everything. We could have
been in a different situation. But Lamar Jackson, he's ready
for the twenty twenty four season.

Look, it's one of those deals where you look at
the game and it's like, all right, two minutes left
there in their own ten yard line, down seven, is
one war going to get this done? And you can
roll your eyes because in the history of these big games,
it hasn't been that. He never really had that opportunity
to take his team. Lamar Jackson marched his team right
down the field, made huge plays, and I look at
this thing and it's like, if they played as well

as they did this with three neophyte offensive linemen who
are really getting their feel for this. They did this
less than a month after their offensive line coach passed away.

We're doing it with a thirty.

Two year old defensive coordinator who's calling his first game.
I know where the Pollyanna Show and sometimes we love
every team, but like, as devastating a loss as it was,
I'm coming out of that game. If I'm a Ravens fan,
and I'm feeling great about my team. I'm like, we
went toe for toe with those guys. We almost stole
the game at the end that we go for two.
We win that game at the end. And Lamar had
to go ninety yards in about a minute forty and

he did it. He went the distance. They were just
a centimeter short. I will say this though, what makes
Lamar so interesting As year to year we get a
different narrative on him. It's like last year, it's Lamar's
going to be more from the pocket because it's Todd
Monkins offense.

We're gonna see a lot more pocket Lamari.

my fear is this you can't do that for seventeen

Like you can't do it, can't it's not sustainable.

So part of me is like, was he thinking, like
this is a playoff, But I don't care if it's week.

One, week seven, week. I have to win this game.

Maybe I don't play this way next week against Dallas,
maybe I don't play this week against Cincinnati, but like
in case after the way we lost its championship game,
like I'm getting everything I have and I will risk
bodily harm to do it because that's what makes me
feel like he was amazing last night. I don't think
that style of play is sustainable over the.

Next couple of months. And Peter, I think you're so ripe.

I mean, going into this game, we already know we
set the headlines four and one or excuse me, one
and four against Patrick Mahomes. But what was interesting too
to see him lead an offense to put up four
hundred and fifty two yards against US Spags defense like
that hasn't happened, Like this is the second RAN defense
last year, coming out of last year.

So it was a good move. We got to talk
about the Zay Flowers missed though. That's pretty big.

If you didn't watch the game orf you only saw
the highlights before the Likely dag, we should showed it
right now on the highlight. He's got Zay Flowers, who's

And you just missed by a mile, and there's a communication,

remember about four years ago. This is a totally different
type of player. Mitch Trubisky once missed this receiver in
the back of the ends when he was a Bear,
and it became this meme about look how wide open
he is. How can you miss this guy? Save Flowers
is wide open, you're at arrowhead.

Put the ball on him. That's a touchdown. You go
for two. Maybe you get it, maybe you don't. He doesn't.

And then he does deliver a strike to Likely and
if Likely gets his Toes down.

I think the problem is is that, of course it's
only week one, it's more not damning the Ravens and
the money where they're crowning the Chiefs. There becomes a thing
where like, we can't beat these guys, Like I'm reminded
of Pedro Martinez when he would come out, I guess
just the Yankees or my daddy. I just can't beat them, like,
and he was so mad after the game in the
clubhouse and he just kind of threw his hands up.
If you're Lamar, you're like, God, I gave it my

all last night.

I really really did.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
I played so hard, I ran, I threw, I threw,
and we still can't beat them. And there's this thing
where it's not just the x'es and o's. It's like
the next time they played the Chiefs. It's like, man,
they beat us in our house, in their house. It
becomes the thing if you let it. I think Lamar
really wanted that one. I think it felt when you
watched him it looked like the AFC title game was
supposed to look like He's.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
On the sideline talking, played way.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
Harder, way more intense than he was way healthier, I know,
than he was in the title game. But if you
were to just do a blind item about like which
one of these is the title game?
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Which one is Week one?

And you showed the title game in that last night,
you'd have that that's the title game.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
But he lost that one too.

Are you feeling afterwards? And I guess, like I'm saying,
it's not sustainable. Is that something that he can do
over the course of because he would have like two
hundred rushes on the season.

I honest, I wonder if he was running that way
because it was the Chiefs, Like he just he knew
the stage and he knew how much you wanted to
beat him. Whoever they play Week two, Week three, I mean,
Lamar knows what to do. He knows how to protect himself.
He's not reckless like that. He's not like Anthony Richards
and a rookie gets hurt, like I think he'll go back.
I think it was like, I'm going to flip into
kill mode for this night. I want to beat this
team and if I have to truck people or run

a lot, I will. I suspect next week I think
it'll be different because I think he's.

Smart when I run an observation by you guys, because
that z Flowers miss that wasn't just a one time
that happened that game. He was was he was tall.
Unlikely on that play Thats got injured on later that
catch it likely made or did not make with this
foot on the ground. That one was high for likely
had to go up for early in the game. First drive,
the touchdown scoring drive Zay Flowers, there was the offsetting penalty.

Ronnie Stanley gets one of his half a dozen penalties.
But that throw to Zay Flowers, they got called back
on interference with Jalen Watson. Save Flowers had to stop
on a dime and come back for that. Maybe Lamar
at this point, because Patrick Mahomes timing was incredible for
Night one, Lamar, maybe his timing was just a little
off coming to this one. And at some point, if
you are Lamar Jackson, you got to tuck the ball

in and take matters under your hands if you just
feel like you're a foot off.

bad right now and they're trying to get good. Yeah,
and Chris Jones is one of the best players in
the league and they're not going to face face.

And the other thing, like my fear, was the end
of the game. Derek Henry wasn't doing much. I think
he had sixteen carries forty and yeah, just as Hill

fantasy experts out there, and I'm not mocking you, and
I'm not saying fantasy is not important in their own't experts,
but like Justice, Hill was the game plan today last night,
and that was not on the script for any fantasy

drafts or anything. So it just tells you, like these teams,
they have their own things and fantasy lives in another world.
But Derek Henry you sparingly at the end of the game,
even though in those first couple drives, big fourth down
cole version and of course the touchdown, there was that
one where Lamar did the read option and like Derek
Henry up the middle of fake It's like, oh, that's
the offense. But I was really intrigued that he was
not the focal point by any man.
Speaker 8 (11:31):
I feel like you're absolutely right, they should have given.
He should have had that twenty times twenty five.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
They were down because they were down there, down one point,
and he's the game plan.

That game plan goes out.

mentioned Joe Dale Sandris, the offensive line coach with Ravens.
That pass day, the Ravens have to fly back to
day Gulf to a service for him. It's just really
heavy emotionally for this team. So they now have ten
days off that they have to get ready for their
next opponents.

the Rams part, but the Chargers part. Justin Herbert missed
much of training camp dealing with a planter fascion injury
really that left him in a walking room for two
weeks now. He explained it as more precautionary than anything else,
and it sounds like he is going to be fine.
In fact, the first day injured portrait available, he wasn't

he is on it, but he's a full participant. Justin
Herbert should be out there. But you guys do have
to wonder are we going to notice the missed reps
in training camp, especially with a knew offense. Certainly something
to keep an eye on there. Meanwhile, Christian McCaffrey was
back at practice this week after also missing most of
training him with what we thought was just a calf strain.

Then to get the injury report yesterday and the forty
nine Ers are listing it as calf slash achilles, maybe
a little more then we thought. Usually when a guy's
limited with an achilles, that's extremely bad. This is not
that we already knew about the achilles, that just wasn't
on the injury report. He should be good to go
for Monday though. And then, of course, speaking of Monday,
Mike Williams, one of the big free agent signings for

the New York Jets, dealing with an ACL injury, trying
to come all the way back. He was a full
participant this week in practice. That is an indication that
he is good to go, and we'll make his debut
for the Jets on Monday. Wouldn't be surprised if there's
a little bit of a pitch count slash easing in
just because he's coming off that ACL tear. But he
should be on the field Monday for the Jets.

about Mike Williams that we said about Xavier Worthy? Like,

out there with no cleek. I know he's going to
play run out there with cleats. But Khalil Shakira as well.
He's the only wide receiver on that team that has
a reception. So a bunch of new wide receivers for
Josh Allen.

Yeah, it's actually a huge storyline that you're talking about there, Digs,
isn't there, Gabe Davison there. I look at this as
their classic trap game, Arizona Southwest, kind of quiet town
that no one is talking about right now in the
NFL circles. If they go out there and they shock Buffalo,
Buffalo's next two games, it's brutal. Bills cannot be caught
off guard by this Cardinals team just because not everyone
in the media is talking about.

Watch Kyler this week, and I think it's be fantastic.
Kyler's ready. He's a little bit uh cocky now, he's
I think he believes in this team. He's putting some
quotes out there, he's healthy. I think Kyler's going to

god given son of quarterbacking, and Will Levis who's fighting
for time and starting spot. He earned it. He made

He did well, and I think that's part of it.
It's these two young quarterbacks. And Levis is an interesting one,
wasn't the first overall pick, second round pick, and they
went out and they got him an offensive coach instead
of Rabel, and they got Brian Callahan to come in
with Nickols, who's his offensive coordinator. Like, I know we're
talking Caleb. I want to see what Levi is all about,
because this guy could be a star as well, and
we're not talking about him as much as these rookies.

I thought the highlight was spot on was showing how
happy Patrick Mahomes was when the game ended and when
that went down to the shoelace because I think he
saw Lamar coming and frankly, the way the Ravens have
been playing, they very easily could have converted on that
two point conversion because Lamar was just picking up the
team as that game went on.

Yeah, Lamar was going I mean total too. But Lamar
to me, like Lamar showed me that he is Lamar
and Lamar Jackson is an MVP player. We know that,
two time MVP player. But just the way the throws
that he was making finding his receivers Xavier Worthy, the
way they utilized RPO on this thing, I'm like, it's
a dangerous combination, especially in the early in the game

when you saw them running RPO with with Derrick Henry
and the way they utilized that getting off into the
edge when he it's that edge, he's eighty eight and
out the gate. I love Lamar Jackson. I really thought
that they were going to pull this game off. That
one toll, that one toe changed everything. We could have
been in a different situation. But Lamar Jackson, he's ready
for the twenty twenty four season.

Look, it's one of those deals where you look at
the game and it's like, all right, two minutes left
there in their own ten yard line, down seven, is
one war going to get this done? And you can
roll your eyes because in the history of these big games,
it hasn't been that. He never really had that opportunity
to take his team. Lamar Jackson marched his team right
down the field, made huge plays, and I look at
this thing and it's like, if they played as well

as they did this with three neophyte offensive linemen who
are really getting their feel for this. They did this
less than a month after their offensive line coach passed away.

Two year old defensive coordinator who's calling his first game.
I know where the Pollyanna Show and sometimes we love
every team, but like, as devastating a loss as it was,
I'm coming out of that game. If I'm a Ravens fan,
and I'm feeling great about my team. I'm like, we
went toe for toe with those guys. We almost stole
the game at the end that we go for two.
We win that game at the end. And Lamar had
to go ninety yards in about a minute forty and

Lamar so interesting As year to year we get a
different narrative on him. It's like last year, it's Lamar's

only week one, it's more not damning the Ravens and

and he was so mad after the game in the

If you're Lamar, you're like, God, I gave it my

really wanted that one. I think it felt when you
watched him it looked like the AFC title game was
supposed to look like He's.

Harder, way more intense than he was way healthier, I know,
than he was in the title game. But if you
were to just do a blind item about like which
one of these is the title game?

Lamar knows what to do. He knows how to protect himself.

and a rookie gets hurt, like I think he'll go back.
I think it was like, I'm going to flip into
kill mode for this night. I want to beat this
team and if I have to truck people or run

Smart when I run an observation by you guys, because
that z Flowers miss that wasn't just a one time
that happened that game. He was was he was tall.
Unlikely on that play Thats got injured on later that
catch it likely made or did not make with this
foot on the ground. That one was high for likely
had to go up for early in the game. First drive,
the touchdown scoring drive Zay Flowers, there was the offsetting penalty.

But that throw to Zay Flowers, they got called back
on interference with Jalen Watson. Save Flowers had to stop

I'm not saying fantasy is not important in their own't experts,
but like Justice, Hill was the game plan today last night,
and that was not on the script for any fantasy

drafts or anything. So it just tells you, like these teams,
they have their own things and fantasy lives in another world.
But Derek Henry you sparingly at the end of the game,
even though in those first couple drives, big fourth down
cole version and of course the touchdown, there was that
one where Lamar did the read option and like Derek
Henry up the middle of fake It's like, oh, that's
the offense. But I was really intrigued that he was
not the focal point by any man.

I feel like you're absolutely right, they should have given.
He should have had that twenty times twenty five.

They were down because they were down there, down one point,
and he's the game plan.

back at practice this week after also missing most of
training him with what we thought was just a calf strain.

Then to get the injury report yesterday and the forty
nine Ers are listing it as calf slash achilles, maybe
a little more then we thought. Usually when a guy's
limited with an achilles, that's extremely bad. This is not
that we already knew about the achilles, that just wasn't
on the injury report. He should be good to go
for Monday though. And then, of course, speaking of Monday,
Mike Williams, one of the big free agent signings for

the New York Jets, dealing with an ACL injury, trying
to come all the way back. He was a full
participant this week in practice. That is an indication that
he is good to go, and we'll make his debut
for the Jets on Monday. Wouldn't be surprised if there's
a little bit of a pitch count slash easing in
just because he's coming off that ACL tear. But he
should be on the field Monday for the Jets.

Buffalo's next two games, it's brutal. Bills cannot be caught
off guard by this Cardinals team just because not everyone
