Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good Morning Football, Let's do it. This is Good Morning Football.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
We are presented by Old treppor Beef Turkey Live in
Los Angeles. That's Kyle Brant, That's Peter Schaker, that's Akbar,
Budge Bmilla, and I'm Jamie at all. Kyle, Peter, you
are visiting LA. You're in New York at the time,
you're in l a half the time. How great was
it last night? You're watching your hotel room, you're watching
the game. It's the single greatest day in the sports calendar.
(00:47):
And kick off to the NFL.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
It's so early in California, it's so nice.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Those games come on. Ears still up the like it's
a delayed game.
Speaker 5 (00:56):
I'm like, that's okay. It's still sunny out here. It's
crazy to watch games on the West Coast. I would
say the two forty five am alarm clock is.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
A little bit of a early.
Speaker 5 (01:04):
So early on the West Coast.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yeah, so the verse it's kind of a reverse.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Yeah, yeah, they get you on the back end. We
had Roger Goodell on Last Hour and he did make
a side apology to us that our show had moved
and sorry about the earlier shift, and he got us
back on the air, and we're.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Like, Roger, you're not sorry.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
You wanted to watch us every morning anyways, you put
us in La. We're here to talk about the games.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
We would do the show from Siberia and maybe someday
we will.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Let's go to arrowheabs, go to Missouri.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
Announcement to talk about We're doing Panther Saints in Siberia.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
It's gonna be really complicated.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
All right, all kinds of pageantry and banners and pop
stars and superstars.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
And then the game started.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
It was constant penalties on the offensive line.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
That was fun. Lamar was playing so.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
Hard, as they say, just out there competing and it
was really fun to watch, even if it was a
little nerve wracking. And then there's this ten seconds down
seven Lamar.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
We're gonna see.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
This play a lot, maybe not just today, we might
see this for a while.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
It's a very.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
Loaded play because you have a wide open receiver. You
have a lot of conversations about Lamar. He misses him.
Was that his fault will get into it. But then
you got four seconds. This is the last play of
the game. You have to throw it in the end
z O for a touchdown. He looks for likely, likely,
grabs it toes.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Down officially at the top next the case he won't
touch down.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
J Rico's falling off his chair.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Arrow Heads silent. But wait. Tarby says, we're gonna go
for two. We're gonna go but win. How incredible he's out.
He is out by so close.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
There is no Ravens fan who would say he's in.
It's not a controversy, it's not a debate. They don't
have to go to the phones.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
He's out. They lose no two point conversion hot take.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
Yes, the NBC crew has the best camera work. You
can imagine the other show if that's like a Fox
or CBS eighth game or they have four cameras, Like,
are we not getting that angle? And is that maybe
necessarily not being overturned? Just the thought of the technology
that NBC has that view is so good that it
makes it so clear you can't say they're home and
he was at a bound.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
It's a great question. The ego eye right from the
US open. All right, listen, guy, store hawk, guy, you hawk, guys.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
The adventure all right, Jeremy round are rooting for you.
Great come back, Lamar Jackson. Do you think they likely scored?
Speaker 2 (03:16):
I thought it was the touchdown? Still think it's a touchdown.
Speaker 6 (03:18):
Definitely nerve wracking. I mean just I mean, could it
look good from my angle on the sideline. But then
the first view you saw, you could see the cleat.
So that's a great football team, and I'm sure we'll
see him again at some point in the playoffs. So
now we're happy with the win now, and she gotta
wear white cleats next time. That's what that's my that's
my advice for him.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
I mean, what would you take away from a competitive
game like that against this team? I say, this is
probably the worst game we're gonna play all year.
Speaker 7 (03:44):
So if this is the best that they got, I mean,
good luck in the postseason.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
What a quote the bar and said it said come
up to where we are. We'll see in the posts.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Absolutely very little. I mean, that's the guys who have
two time defending champions.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
Maybe I don't know that that's.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Guy that's not that's not total Gonzales out there, young player.
Speaker 8 (04:06):
Yeah, they likely saying like we're not scared of you.
I mean they show that they have a lot of
firepower that they could hang with them. I mean the
game that it went toe to toe, no pun attended.
Maybe it was tended, but I mean like he was
seriously they got something to prove.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
I thought the highlight was spot on was showing how
happy Patrick Mahomes was when the game ended and when
that went down to the shoelace because I think he
saw Lamar coming and frankly, the way the Ravens have
been playing, they very easily could have converted on that
two point conversion because Lamar was just picking up the
team as that game went on.
Speaker 8 (04:37):
Yeah, Lamar was going I mean total too. But Lamar
to me, like Lamar showed me that he is Lamar
and Lamar Jackson is an MVP player. We know that,
two time MVP player. But just the way the throws
that he was making finding his receivers Xavier Worthy, the
way they utilized RPO on this thing, I'm like, it's
a dangerous combination, especially in the early in the game
(04:58):
when you saw them running RPO with with Derrick Henry
and the way they utilized that getting off into the
edge when he it's that edge, he's eighty eight and
out the gate. I love Lamar Jackson. I really thought
that they were going to pull this game off. That
one toll, that one toe changed everything. We could have
been in a different situation. But Lamar Jackson, he's ready
for the twenty twenty four season.
Speaker 5 (05:18):
Look, it's one of those deals where you look at
the game and it's like, all right, two minutes left
there in their own ten yard line, down seven, is
one war going to get this done? And you can
roll your eyes because in the history of these big games,
it hasn't been that. He never really had that opportunity
to take his team. Lamar Jackson marched his team right
down the field, made huge plays, and I look at
this thing and it's like, if they played as well
(05:40):
as they did this with three neophyte offensive linemen who
are really getting their feel for this. They did this
less than a month after their offensive line coach passed away.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
We're doing it with a thirty.
Speaker 5 (05:50):
Two year old defensive coordinator who's calling his first game.
I know where the Pollyanna Show and sometimes we love
every team, but like, as devastating a loss as it was,
I'm coming out of that game. If I'm a Ravens fan,
and I'm feeling great about my team. I'm like, we
went toe for toe with those guys. We almost stole
the game at the end that we go for two.
We win that game at the end. And Lamar had
to go ninety yards in about a minute forty and
(06:12):
he did it. He went the distance. They were just
a centimeter short. I will say this though, what makes
Lamar so interesting As year to year we get a
different narrative on him. It's like last year, it's Lamar's
going to be more from the pocket because it's Todd
Monkins offense.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
It's not Greg Romans.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
We're gonna see a lot more pocket Lamari.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
He wins MVP.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
He was running all over the field last night, running
the ball in such a way that he looked like
the best player on the field running the ball.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
It's the most rushing yards he's had in a game
in four years.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
This is like they unleashed him. It was like, all right, Lamar,
we're back to the old.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
He's like you said, Ochbark's fifteen pounds Later they say
he's down to two h five fairly. He looked at
my fear is this you can't do that for seventeen
games in the Red.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
You can't do that for eat game.
Speaker 5 (06:52):
Jamari Connor came down and lowered the boom on him,
and it's like is Lamara getting up.
Speaker 8 (06:56):
Like you can't do it, can't it's not sustainable.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
He saw this thing where he was lowering his shoulder
and it fires you up as a fan and it's.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Like, oh, it's a great Hoigh highlight.
Speaker 5 (07:05):
So part of me is like, was he thinking, like
this is a playoff, But I don't care if it's week.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
One, week seven, week. I have to win this game.
Speaker 5 (07:12):
Maybe I don't play this way next week against Dallas,
maybe I don't play this week against Cincinnati, but like
in case after the way we lost its championship game,
like I'm getting everything I have and I will risk
bodily harm to do it because that's what makes me
feel like he was amazing last night. I don't think
that style of play is sustainable over the.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Next couple of months. And Peter, I think you're so ripe.
Speaker 8 (07:30):
I mean, going into this game, we already know we
set the headlines four and one or excuse me, one
and four against Patrick Mahomes. But what was interesting too
to see him lead an offense to put up four
hundred and fifty two yards against US Spags defense like
that hasn't happened, Like this is the second RAN defense
last year, coming out of last year.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
So it was a good move. We got to talk
about the Zay Flowers missed though. That's pretty big.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
If you didn't watch the game orf you only saw
the highlights before the Likely dag, we should showed it
right now on the highlight. He's got Zay Flowers, who's
as close as he has probably do.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
A number one receiver as no one around and whatsoever.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
And you just missed by a mile, and there's a communication,
there's the or maybe he just missed it. Now I
remember about four years ago. This is a totally different
type of player. Mitch Trubisky once missed this receiver in
the back of the ends when he was a Bear,
and it became this meme about look how wide open
he is. How can you miss this guy? Save Flowers
is wide open, you're at arrowhead.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Put the ball on him. That's a touchdown. You go
for two. Maybe you get it, maybe you don't. He doesn't.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
And then he does deliver a strike to Likely and
if Likely gets his Toes down.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Lamar did his job.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
I think the problem is is that, of course it's
only week one, it's more not damning the Ravens and
the money where they're crowning the Chiefs. There becomes a thing
where like, we can't beat these guys, Like I'm reminded
of Pedro Martinez when he would come out, I guess
just the Yankees or my daddy. I just can't beat them, like,
and he was so mad after the game in the
clubhouse and he just kind of threw his hands up.
If you're Lamar, you're like, God, I gave it my
(08:49):
all last night.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
I really really did.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
I played so hard, I ran, I threw, I threw,
and we still can't beat them. And there's this thing
where it's not just the x'es and o's. It's like
the next time they played the Chiefs. It's like, man,
they beat us in our house, in their house. It
becomes the thing if you let it. I think Lamar
really wanted that one. I think it felt when you
watched him it looked like the AFC title game was
supposed to look like He's.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
On the sideline talking, played way.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
Harder, way more intense than he was way healthier, I know,
than he was in the title game. But if you
were to just do a blind item about like which
one of these is the title game?
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Which one is Week one?
Speaker 4 (09:22):
And you showed the title game in that last night,
you'd have that that's the title game.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
But he lost that one too.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
Are you feeling afterwards? And I guess, like I'm saying,
it's not sustainable. Is that something that he can do
over the course of because he would have like two
hundred rushes on the season.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
I honest, I wonder if he was running that way
because it was the Chiefs, Like he just he knew
the stage and he knew how much you wanted to
beat him. Whoever they play Week two, Week three, I mean,
Lamar knows what to do. He knows how to protect himself.
He's not reckless like that. He's not like Anthony Richards
and a rookie gets hurt, like I think he'll go back.
I think it was like, I'm going to flip into
kill mode for this night. I want to beat this
team and if I have to truck people or run
(09:54):
a lot, I will. I suspect next week I think
it'll be different because I think he's.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Smart when I run an observation by you guys, because
that z Flowers miss that wasn't just a one time
that happened that game. He was was he was tall.
Unlikely on that play Thats got injured on later that
catch it likely made or did not make with this
foot on the ground. That one was high for likely
had to go up for early in the game. First drive,
the touchdown scoring drive Zay Flowers, there was the offsetting penalty.
(10:19):
Ronnie Stanley gets one of his half a dozen penalties.
But that throw to Zay Flowers, they got called back
on interference with Jalen Watson. Save Flowers had to stop
on a dime and come back for that. Maybe Lamar
at this point, because Patrick Mahomes timing was incredible for
Night one, Lamar, maybe his timing was just a little
off coming to this one. And at some point, if
you are Lamar Jackson, you got to tuck the ball
(10:40):
in and take matters under your hands if you just
feel like you're a foot off.
Speaker 4 (10:43):
Competer's right. Listen, But there's two things. The line is
bad right now and they're trying to get good. Yeah,
and Chris Jones is one of the best players in
the league and they're not going to face face.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
That was a lot of that.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
I don't know for all the hype he got this summer.
And the other thing, like my fear, was the end
of the game. Derek Henry wasn't doing much. I think
he had sixteen carries forty and yeah, just as Hill
was the guy and it was And for all you
fantasy experts out there, and I'm not mocking you, and
I'm not saying fantasy is not important in their own't experts,
but like Justice, Hill was the game plan today last night,
and that was not on the script for any fantasy
(11:11):
drafts or anything. So it just tells you, like these teams,
they have their own things and fantasy lives in another world.
But Derek Henry you sparingly at the end of the game,
even though in those first couple drives, big fourth down
cole version and of course the touchdown, there was that
one where Lamar did the read option and like Derek
Henry up the middle of fake It's like, oh, that's
the offense. But I was really intrigued that he was
not the focal point by any man.
Speaker 8 (11:31):
I feel like you're absolutely right, they should have given.
He should have had that twenty times twenty five.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
They were down because they were down there, down one point,
and he's the game plan.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
That game plan goes out.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
But it was like, obviously, first Drive'll choose.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Him a lot, and then it wasn't much after one game.
But I hear.
Speaker 8 (11:46):
It's that's a temple too, especially for a young offensive
lineman like that. I mean, you know you've got some
younger ones in there because Chris Jones made.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
It very, very difficult for them. So that's why other.
Speaker 8 (11:54):
Times you saw Lamar Jackson running out like like, oh
I don't have a lot of time here, I got
to go.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
And he's got a lot of speed too.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
So here's speaking of that young offensive line. And you
mentioned Joe Dale Sandris, the offensive line coach with Ravens.
That pass day, the Ravens have to fly back to
day Gulf to a service for him. It's just really
heavy emotionally for this team. So they now have ten
days off that they have to get ready for their
next opponents.
Speaker 5 (12:14):
They play Dallas next. It's no walk in the park.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
No, this is a big, big start. What do I know?
Ian Rabitbort, good morning to you. He's our insider assigned
to us this morning, wrap sheets. Where do you take
us first? As we attempt to inspect player status is
head of week one, we will.
Speaker 9 (12:32):
Take you to Los Angeles. Well, you're ready in Los Angeles,
but a different part of Los Angeles this time's not
the Rams part, but the Chargers part. Justin Herbert missed
much of training camp dealing with a planter fascion injury
really that left him in a walking room for two
weeks now. He explained it as more precautionary than anything else,
and it sounds like he is going to be fine.
In fact, the first day injured portrait available, he wasn't
(12:53):
even on it. Then the team adic co direction. Now
he is on it, but he's a full participant. Justin
Herbert should be out there. But you guys do have
to wonder are we going to notice the missed reps
in training camp, especially with a knew offense. Certainly something
to keep an eye on there. Meanwhile, Christian McCaffrey was
back at practice this week after also missing most of
training him with what we thought was just a calf strain.
(13:16):
Then to get the injury report yesterday and the forty
nine Ers are listing it as calf slash achilles, maybe
a little more then we thought. Usually when a guy's
limited with an achilles, that's extremely bad. This is not
that we already knew about the achilles, that just wasn't
on the injury report. He should be good to go
for Monday though. And then, of course, speaking of Monday,
Mike Williams, one of the big free agent signings for
(13:39):
the New York Jets, dealing with an ACL injury, trying
to come all the way back. He was a full
participant this week in practice. That is an indication that
he is good to go, and we'll make his debut
for the Jets on Monday. Wouldn't be surprised if there's
a little bit of a pitch count slash easing in
just because he's coming off that ACL tear. But he
should be on the field Monday for the Jets.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
All right? Are we gonna be saying the same thing
about Mike Williams that we said about Xavier Worthy? Like,
how dare we let Aaron Rodgers get Mike Williams holl
way back?
Speaker 2 (14:06):
You never know? Peters, right, he says the jetsica in
the one seed that's it.
Speaker 5 (14:10):
Greese Hall was the same deal last year. Missed all
those games in training camp and then week one was awesome.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
God to Mike.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
We have Friday night football in so Paolo. Jane Slater,
she got on the plane, she took on Brazil. She's
been giving us all the angles before the game kicks
off tonight. Kyle.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
It's like when you go to bave Vegas isn't ready
for us.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
Brazil's not ready for Jane Slater.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
Get after it, Jane and Eagles Packers will make the cut.
In Mad Minute a tradition and like any other we
talk every single game for sixty seconds. Bang bang bang
bang bank fast, high tempo and fun.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
That's our show.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
What's up kleb past high tempo and fun?
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Caleb versus Love List this weekend? Good morning football?
Speaker 3 (15:00):
All right, we have a classic segment. We call it
Mad Minute.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Kyle.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
Why do we hold the segments near and dear to
our heart?
Speaker 4 (15:05):
Because it's just rapid and fast, and sometimes it gets
really messy, and sometimes you have a terrible answer and
you just passed, so.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
You're not allowed to pass you much, speak your thoughts,
quick thoughts. We have a half a dozen games or
so that we have to take on. First things first, Peter,
you are up on Steelers Falcon.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Love the quarterback matchup.
Speaker 5 (15:21):
We're not sure what's happening in Pittsburgh now and for
us as a calf injury, but he's expected to.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Be the number one. We'll play that by ear.
Speaker 5 (15:26):
But I love the fact that it's Cousins and Russell
or Cousins and Justin Fields, two guys, three guys who
have been discarded by former teams. And yeah, I think
Cousins was discarded in Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Could have paid him.
Speaker 5 (15:35):
They said we're gonna move on without him. First time
we're seeing this new look Atlanta Falcons. I'm actually very
high in Atlanta. I picked them to go to the playoffs,
and we all picked them up for Jamie to win
the division. Let's see if they can actually take care
of it, because you know Pittsford's going.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
You know, I can't wait to watch this game. And
who's going to steal this game? Corderio Patterson. Watch Cordero
Patterson now on the Steelers, formerly of the Falcons.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
Watch that dynamic kick return.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
It was like when the news announced that they were
going to do it, it was like, oh, Cordero Patterson and
also the Steelers got him like five seconds after the
news came out. He's the best kick returner of this generation.
Watch him steal this game, Cord Darrel, you heard it.
Speaker 8 (16:08):
You know I think TJ. Watt may look at this
situation and going, well, you know what, I can start
getting up to maybe have the most amount of sacks ever.
Last year he had nineteen sis thirty six quarterback hits.
So let's see if he keeps that streak going.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
None of us picked in for Defensive Player of the Year.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
Nobody did last year there apparently lost all right.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Moving on to a game for Kyle, it's his new
pound puppy team and it's his long time love. It's Cardinals.
It's Bills off bar Europe first on this one.
Speaker 8 (16:32):
Okay, I'm excited to see another one of my boys,
Mac Collins. I want to see if he's gonna go
out there with no cleek. I know he's going to
play run out there with cleats. But Khalil Shakira as well.
He's the only wide receiver on that team that has
a reception. So a bunch of new wide receivers for
Josh Allen.
Speaker 5 (16:46):
Yeah, it's actually a huge storyline that you're talking about there, Digs,
isn't there, Gabe Davison there. I look at this as
their classic trap game, Arizona Southwest, kind of quiet town
that no one is talking about right now in the
NFL circles. If they go out there and they shock Buffalo,
Buffalo's next two games, it's brutal. Bills cannot be caught
off guard by this Cardinals team just because not everyone
in the media is talking about.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
Watch Kyler this week, and I think it's be fantastic.
Kyler's ready. He's a little bit uh cocky now, he's
I think he believes in this team. He's putting some
quotes out there, he's healthy. I think Kyler's going to
put on a show.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
I really do.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
In fact, I'm putting this on upset and notice I
would put it right now.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
I really am.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
Unless the Bills play their best, they're gonna get caught.
There's always weird stuff in week one. This would be
a really weird bed watch.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
It's a kind of matchup, Kyle that you probably hang
your hat on because you're like, I really did just
put both of those teams into the playoffs and now
they're going to have to demolish each other in week.
It doesn't make you feel very.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
Good about your Ravens Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
That hai you theirs. I was on at Nashville Radio
yesterday and they're like, give us some jews about this game, juice,
what else do you want? You got Caleb Williams, the
god given son of quarterbacking, and Will Levis who's fighting
for time and starting spot. He earned it. He made
a Mayo commercial out of it. I just took fifteen
seconds peer.
Speaker 5 (17:49):
He did well, and I think that's part of it.
It's these two young quarterbacks. And Levis is an interesting one,
wasn't the first overall pick, second round pick, and they
went out and they got him an offensive coach instead
of Rabel, and they got Brian Callahan to come in
with Nickols, who's his offensive coordinator. Like, I know we're
talking Caleb. I want to see what Levi is all about,
because this guy could be a star as well, and
we're not talking about him as much as these rookies.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Just like that.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Jamie's got a newborn at home, she's got to it
and she's a national radio on a Thursday.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Jamie, how do you do it.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
The stat is terrifying is that for the last nine
times the number one overall pick has started at quarterback,
they have not won the game eight and one. Caleb,
break that streak or they'll be panic in Chicago. I've
part you got two seconds.
Speaker 8 (18:26):
Well, I'm looking at at Calvin Ridley and hopefully if
d Hop is healthy for this game one, I want
to see what that combination.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Will Levis, you got a new toy.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
Jerius Sneed was so bitter than the Chief's gone from him?
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Here?
Speaker 5 (18:38):
Can I tell you that Will Levis also has a
new girlfriend. This is something I learned. I was on
a reality TV pod recently. The Vile Files are got
nick file. Victoria Fuller is her name, and they're public.
And Will Levis is dating a former Bachelor Bachelorette contestant.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
The name sounds she's on the Bacher their public, they're official,
they're official.
Speaker 4 (18:57):
And you went on the Bachelor pod. Are you going
on talk to a next Peter? Let's go, baby, come
and you can go on and tap in about tongue
malo that great, Peter.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
You should do that, Peter.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
If you make it on calling me daddy.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
I'm going on call her daddy. I don't even know
what any of that means. Yeah, bar, all.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
Right, let's call Jags Dolphins, shall we. It's a match
up in the state of Florida, Kylego.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
It's fun that they're both from Florida. My new thing
that I've liked that neew over the last few years.
I love how hard Rock Stadium becomes a torture chamber
early in the season.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
They absolutely hate it.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
I looked it up in Miami on Sunday, ninety one degrees,
full sun, no clouds, no anything, and teams hate being
on that sideline, which they feel is engineered to put
them like a what is it like a salamander under
one of those hot lights?
Speaker 2 (19:44):
So jacksonle knows what it's like.
Speaker 4 (19:46):
Is I like to come from Buffalo, but I still
like to watch them roast.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
I like it. I don't care.
Speaker 8 (19:49):
Well, Oh, I'm next, Okay to tolet the year last
year with forty six one hundred yards. Let's see if
he's he can keep that up right?
Speaker 4 (19:58):
All right?
Speaker 2 (19:58):
I was supposed to tap that's.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
Right, our next, Peter go.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
I think that the other quarterbacks fascinating. We talk about
to a lot. We talk about Kletle. We talked about
Jaden Daniel. Trevor Lawrence still plays in the NFL, and
just because he had an ankle injury last year, he.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
Did get paid.
Speaker 5 (20:09):
Danelson two got the big money and everyone rolled their
eyes said, really gonna get too. Trevor Lawrence got big money.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Also, is he back? Is this Jaguars team back?
Speaker 5 (20:17):
Or is this going to be how it was ended
last year? If it wasn't for the Eagles the way
they sputtered out at the end, we'd be talking about
how the Jaguars did it because they were winning that
the division the whole season, then just fell apart at
the end.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
Peter are the only one at the table that put
the Jags into the postseason, got him winning the division
on Good Morning Football. You're exactly right. Tom Brady will
be seen on television mid afternoon on Sunday, not playing football,
talking about football.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Peter.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
It's Cowboys Browns.
Speaker 5 (20:38):
Yeah, great matchup too. I mean the Brady thing is
going to steal headlines, but I think the matchup is
really interesting and the Browns. This is now Deshaun Watson's
time again to show like I am the guy making
as much money as any of these big, big money quarterbacks,
and yet last year they had more success with Flacco,
great roster. One little thing they lost Bill Callahan, offensive
line coach. He went to Tennessee. I'm curious to see
(20:59):
if that Browns offensive line is as stout as has
always been the last couple of years.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
I want to see if it's just the same old
cowboy as always. I mean, in a good way.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
They get out there, they have good players. There's a
lot of little buzz about maybe this is the year
it falls apart, this is that year where they go
seven and ten and Jerry has to blow it up.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
I don't think so.
Speaker 4 (21:15):
I was the only person at the table says they're
going to win the NFC East. I think it's going
to be same old Cowboys week one, and I mean
that in a good way.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
They're great in the regular season.
Speaker 8 (21:22):
Yeah, I'm going back to Deshaun Watson. I absolutely love
for him to have kind of a rebound season. He's
only played in twelve games in the last two years,
so it's going to be, you know, interesting to see
what he does with his opportunity.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
Sarah wallsh had a great interview with Miles Garrett in
the off season where he's from Dallas. His mom is
a massive Cowboys fan. Like does mama Garrett like have
like the split jersey on? Because because he said, like
she it takes no mercy when it comes to him
playing for the Browns. We have to go up against
the Cowboys. So just a small little nugget into it
massive deal because it's a rematch of an NFC playoff
(21:54):
game last season, Rams Lions, Kylegill, do.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
You know that Sean McVay is six and one in
Week one games?
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Peter named the one loss to Sean McVay Week one.
Can you do it?
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (22:03):
They lost to the Bills a couple of years right
over there.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
Yeah, I think this is upset special. I have the
Lions winning the Super Bowl. Think the Rams are going
to win this incredible Week one.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
I think they'll be ready.
Speaker 8 (22:11):
Well, the Lions are that they're looking really good. Here's
another stat for you. The Lions have won twenty two
of their last thirty games. Jared Golf is hot. I
have him as my MVP prediction, so I expect the.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
Lions to win the last Yeah.
Speaker 5 (22:23):
Yeah, DETROITDA prepares his butt off. That's the thing he
has been watching Lions film since they lost to the
Lions in January. In that game, I would not be
shocked if if the Rams came out and gave him
everything but the atmosphere that we saw in Detroit during
those playoff games. Now they're hosting a Sunday night game
and there Jared after the draft, like, I know you're right.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
The draft.
Speaker 5 (22:42):
It's a house of horrors that has become the new
house of horrors to play. It is really tough to
win in Detroit now, which is amazing to say that
considered in the last two decades of feudal football.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
The NBC crew you saw last night now on their
way to call that game on Sunday night with TreeCo
and Collins, with the Melissa Stark. The Week one schedule.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
Is ridiculous and we gave maybe the best game to Brazil,
so we'll watch it on Friday night.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
Don't do that to the all right, Kyle, don't do that.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
That's great. I know.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
I love that playoff given Tray, it was like here's
eminem and then here's that guy that has a season
ticket since like nineteen forty one. I love that collection
at Google. It's time now for Verizon Wake up call.
I'm so distracted by Kyle Brant by this schedule because
we have a segment coming up in just a minute.
Kyle's mike is just wide open. Here's what's happening. We're
(23:28):
gonna go to Cherry Burriss because we need to buy time.
We need minutes to hear the news so we can
pick our survival teams coming into the weekend.
Speaker 10 (23:37):
Sherry, and I know that doesn't stress you out, Jamie, No, what, Harry?
Speaker 3 (23:41):
You know me so well, I'm not kid, take your time.
Speaker 10 (23:44):
I got to hear time for your Verizon wake up call.
We get some bonus football tonight, the Packers and Eagles
facing off in the first ever game in sal Polo, Brazil.
Our very own Jane Slater is there and this time
joined by a special guest.
Speaker 11 (23:58):
All right, we're here with Jordan Bilata. And I know
you guys haven't gotten a chance to really venture out
in sell Pallow, but just driving around being here inside
Corinthians Arena, what are your first impressions?
Speaker 2 (24:09):
I love it.
Speaker 7 (24:09):
This is uh the people about culture and you know
the bond that they have with you know, the surroundings,
the food, the music, like that's that's what they love
and it's just an honor to be here. I would
die to have a game in Australia just because I
think the people in US we love sports and I
think if we can give it, get a game down there,
(24:30):
especially some of the game's biggest thoughts, that would be
that would be awesome.
Speaker 11 (24:34):
Nick Sirianni talks about At one point during practice last week,
he pulled down his glasses after a particular run from
Barkley and said, that's awesome. Have you seen that sport
from Barkley in practice every day?
Speaker 7 (24:45):
I mean, it is amazing. You know, We've we've had
some great running backs that I've had the honor of
blocking for. But you know, when you acquire someone like
say Kwon Bakley, there's there's like another Appa echelon and uh,
I mean you just we watched film and we're just like, man,
this guy is. This guy is who he says he
is and he is what you see on film. And
(25:06):
we've had a lot of those moments as a as
an offensive line, we've had a lot of those moments.
Speaker 10 (25:11):
Well, certainly Eagles fans everywhere excited to see Saquon and
win does is in his debut tonight. Thank you to
Jane and Jordan. Coming up next, Survive in advance the name.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Of the game.
Speaker 10 (25:22):
It's time for our GMFP crew to make their Week
one picks GMFP with a twist coming your way next.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
Good Morning Football.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
I am holding an upside down al Bundi football helmet.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
I'll tell you why.
Speaker 4 (25:47):
Momentarily, Okai, my Pokai, my co hosts are holding schedule
printouts and they're not just holding them, they're studying them.
They're almost i would say, the word is threading over them.
Fri E T T I N G. Jamie, Akbar Peter.
We're going to do something being called, as you see there,
survival for week one.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
This is how this is going to work.
Speaker 4 (26:10):
Each of us pick just one team playing in the
Week one schedule we think is gonna win this weekend.
That's it, straight up win, no points, spread, no none
of that, and win by one point or fifty points,
doesn't matter. If that team wins, you advance to the
second week. If that team loses, you're out the first week.
Sometimes you hear them called survivor pools, eliminator pools, all
that stuff.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
We're going to do one here now.
Speaker 4 (26:32):
Peter is good at a lot of things regarding broadcasting.
Regarding football, you really are you suck at this? You
are very bad at this. Can you explain a little
history and why you're so bad at it?
Speaker 5 (26:43):
The last two years we have done this segment, Jamie's
been a part of it. I have been eliminated after
one week. Last year, I took the Vikings. They lost
to the Buccaneers. The year before that, I believe I
took the someone and the Giants beat them in a
game that they took out of what it was.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
I'm oh for two, I'm out, not even getting to
second week. Oh okay, good?
Speaker 3 (27:01):
Why does it make me so mad that you're not
fretting over a schedule? Why are you so cool?
Speaker 4 (27:05):
I'm really bad at fantasy football.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
I'm great at this.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
I just have I have a system and I have
a formula that I do it by akbar.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Are you ready for this?
Speaker 8 (27:14):
This is my first time ever doing it. So you
got to tell me what's the secret sauce.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
I will not tell you the secret sauce. You come
up with your own.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
They never give away the recipe for the secret sauce.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
Here we go.
Speaker 4 (27:22):
The reason I have the helmet is our four names
are in this on four cards. The first name that
I pick out gets the first pick.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Pick of the litter.
Speaker 4 (27:28):
Pick any game this weekend, including Eagles, pat Packers, to
night if you want, if you get your name called fourth,
there's already maybe three games that look pretty tasty for
this already taken. So without further ado is they say,
I have no idea what order they're in, but I
can tell you now that I've picked one. The first
pick of week one survivor this is kind of appropriate.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
Goes to Peter.
Speaker 4 (27:54):
Peter any game you want, Peter, pick the team you
think they're going to win this weekend.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
I always talk about vibes. You do. You're constantly on
about vibes, about a vibe.
Speaker 5 (28:06):
I don't love the Cowboys vibes right now. I don't
love the Niners vibes right now, and that's just my
I don't love the Bengals vibes right now.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
I don't I don't love the Chase thing.
Speaker 5 (28:14):
I don't like seeing footage of them walking across a
parking lot to practice.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
I don't like any of that.
Speaker 5 (28:19):
And yet I can't see them losing at home to
the Patriots. Iron Eagle, Charles Davis, the Great Evan Washburn
on the calls the CBS Early Window my first pick.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
I'm now over two. I sorry Bengals fans for this.
Speaker 5 (28:30):
I am taking Joe Burrow, healthy and blonde, ambition, the
whole thing, Bengals over Patriots as my survivor pick for
Week one, first out of the gates.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
You know why this makes me happy because if Jacoby
Brissett driving Mail go into the jungle and get my fault, I.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
Can't even blame it on being the fourth pick.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
This is his opportunity and we all have something root for. Now.
Speaker 4 (28:52):
Guys, go Patriots, all right now? So you can't take
the Bengals. They're off, all right, you can take the
Patriots if you want.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
Clarification, eater can't take the Bengals off for the rest
of the season less, you.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
Only get to use them once a year. So if
the next week's Bengals game is against a high school team,
you can't pick the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Three additional staff able us to keep track of this game.
So just all right.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
The second pick in the Week one survivor pool who
cannot pick the Bengals Kyle Kyle Hey Wiley. Let me
reach into my little dusts out here, and here's my
Doskier schedule. Bengals, I'm just gonna I'm gonna go, go
with my go with my gun, go with my heart.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
And the Bears Bears over the ton It Bears at
home over the Titans. Give me the Bears at home
over the Titans.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
I don't know if Caleb is ready yet to be
lisan Al Gaib, but everything I hear from Pallas Hall
is that, oh my god, this defense is so good.
They're at home, They're playing against the new team. You
gotta win this game. Win at three to nothing.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
I don't care.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
I'm taking the Bears Bears over Titans, which means we
will reveal simultaneously the third pick, which I'm gonna show,
and then if your name is not here, Jamie of
the fourth.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
Pick, I'm a new guy. I mean, come on, we'll
find out right now about the beauty of this game.
Bengals and Bears.
Speaker 5 (30:10):
First two teams taken, I.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Know, what a time to be alive.
Speaker 4 (30:13):
With the third pick of the week one survivor pool, come.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
On, Jane, call this rookie haz.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
Rookie Amy No Bears, no Bengals, no Bears, anybody else
you want.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
I guess you can't pick the Chiefs of Ravency.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
But we've done one hundred and seventeen hours of television
this week, first week of the season.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
I've had so.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
Much coffee I've thought I had burned a hole into
my stomach. Up until this point, I was fine. My
acid indigestion now is through the rose. I'm still stressed.
I don't like this game. The thing I like leaves.
I suppose these games. I don't like losing. Like to
be right, I had three options still on my list
that I wanted to pick.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
Please don't pick mine. That's the fun of it.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
I'm gonna take you too. I did this last year,
my first week, and it it just fine for me.
I'm going to go Seahawks at home.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
I thought so Broncos.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
Seahawks at home against Denver. Do you want to give
us a little bit why?
Speaker 3 (31:11):
Gino Smith was on the show this week, and he
talked us through why the Seahawks had, in Peter's words,
good vibes in Seattle, new head coach, but a lot
of the same cast of characters, and they had a
couple of running backs in the Angry Runs list. It's
a lot of good things.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
So our nemesis right now, bonnex is yours, Will Levis's minds.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
Tobe Brisette.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
Let's take a look at the picks, Peter, so far,
here we go, so Ackbar, you cannot take the Bengals,
You cannot take the Bears, you cannot take the Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Again, just to play their context.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
Here, we took three teams may None of these three
teams made the playoffs last year. Cincinnati, Seattle, Chicago all
missed the playoffs. That's how crazy the NFL is.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
I went Seattle just to give Akbar a second. Okay,
I don't want to mess around with their division, So
I'm going outside the division because if I have to,
I just wanted to pick them, not have to pick
them again this year. So I took care of us.
Speaker 8 (32:03):
That was my first pick that you took, and I
think you did that.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
On all right.
Speaker 4 (32:06):
So you were gonna take Seattle. Are you decided between two?
Or do you have it? Are you ready like think
of yah?
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (32:13):
Then I was gonna go with with with your pick,
and then you mess me up. I'm gonna go with
another rookie or against another rookie. You got jayde and
Daniels going to Tampa. It's his first start on the road.
They're a new team. Yeah, are you are you taking
I'm going with the Buccaneers with I'm going with the
Buccaneers on this one. I kind of like Baker Mayfield.
(32:36):
It's gonna take James some time to kind of gail
with this crew, but I'm gonna go with the Baker
Mayfield and his solid crew.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
All right. I hope we all make it through fun.
It's never happened a question off Bart.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
You just didn't want to mess around with that game
that's being played across the street on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
Yeah, Chargers Raiders. Chargers Raiders.
Speaker 8 (32:51):
That one that I thought about, But I thought, you
know what, let me just let me save that one
since you guys told me now that you once you
pick a team, yep, you can't use it later down
a roll.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
So I'm gonna save that.
Speaker 5 (33:01):
Our show usually operates at this forrenetic, high energy pace.
This segment continues to be the most tense segment in television.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
I have I think you're right, Peter, I felt it.
Speaker 4 (33:12):
It's surprising to me that nobody went Buffalo at home
against the Arizona Cardinals, including me.
Speaker 5 (33:18):
I came scares the crap.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
It does, all right, so it does for me too.
But that's when that jumps off the schedule.
Speaker 5 (33:23):
To me, nobody took the forty nine ers at home
on a Monday night against the Jets.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
I'm not I'm not touching no one.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
No one took this vibes. Peter Checksan's on the road
in Indianapolis.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
Broad games scare me.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
These are hey, Peter tech TV term. These are called
the comfies on the show.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Very unshares, very.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
Uncomfortable segment to sit in the company.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
I think that's why we're there.
Speaker 4 (33:42):
Well, normally, if you watch the show for a while,
normally I have a choker, Nickelson and sandals and I'm
doing my full Jeff Probes in my heavily pocketed shirt.
You don't dressed like this on a Survivor island. But
next week we'll get back to it. We're locked in now.
Watch the games. Odds are at least one likely to
if three people lose in Week one and there's only
one survive. That happens Jason mccordy one Week one. A
couple of year segments over and if we all lose,
(34:04):
I think we're back week two. If we all lose,
we're back week two.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
I don't wanna we are going, yeah, come back. That's
not gonna happen. Stop, that's it. Well, yeah, let's start
out with week one. Schedule makers always do a great job.
Speaker 8 (34:17):
Back to Detroit where you guys had that great playoff
matchup to finish the season last year.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
Yeah, what a great challenge.
Speaker 5 (34:24):
I mean, physical, tough, excellent football team coming a couple
of plays away from going to a super Bowl. And
that atmosphere was incredible. I mean they were booing and
it was and they were just saying some mean things
to me, and it was a great atmosphere.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
That's what you love about the NFL.
Speaker 5 (34:38):
The opportunity to go see if you can be at
your best, and whatever happens happens, and let's get back
up and let's keep swinging. And so I'm gonna prepare
as well as we can so that we can be
at our best. On the Age of September.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
That was Kurt Warner.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
You should tune in on Sunday being at nine am
Eastern to catch more of Sean McVay with our guy, Kurt.
We know he watches every morning. What's up, Kurt, you
appreciate that. You'll sure, Kyle, you're staying in La all weekend.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
I am. I'm going to do game day morning. I
just going to say about Kurt. That's oh I probably
shouldn't say this. Oh we don't.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
That's not like that. I come in this morning. I've
been in a hotel all week. Things are getting a
little disheveled with my you know, my apparel and my
clothes and my back. I find myself in the dressing
room this morning, and I'm wearing this black leather jacket,
these black jeans and everything. I forgot a belt. I
started looking around the dressing room. Kurt's my next locker partner.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
Theft Kyle, Kurt, look at this thing? See this?
Speaker 4 (35:34):
See that belt right there. It's a nice looking belt.
I didn't didn't steal it. Peter, I'm gonna give it back,
probably four hundred bucks.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
It's gonna start. You were my neighbor. I just said
he wouldn't mind. He's a nice man.
Speaker 4 (35:46):
I took Kurt's belt, and I'm wearing Kurt Warner's belt
to put my mic pack.
Speaker 5 (35:50):
Off, said I actually have hashion too. Oh oh, So
I'm in this hotel and my stuff is all disheveled,
and I'm putting things together, and I realized I have
no clean underwear. So the persons locker is next to mine.
Adam Rink, I am sorry, you like that bar like that?
Speaker 4 (36:11):
Well, I wasn't gonna give you up, but ochbar was
going through Baldy socks. Ryan Baldinger has this big old
basket of socks, and I caught you. I was, And
now that we're doing it, we can confess. Okay, And
it was I think it was the laundry basket too,
but like that's all right, thank you Baldy, Thank Baldy
for socks.
Speaker 8 (36:28):
Baldi you wear size ten. I'm a fifteen, So now
I've got like ankle socks.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
Fine, that's okay.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
The belt story is actually the men locker room.
Speaker 3 (36:36):
Network is not a place of decorum. Apparently, like we
we are very respectful on the lady's side of the
locker room. When he was doing in there stealing, I
thought when you said you were going to wear you
wearing Kurt's belt, there was something like I'm thinner than Kurt.
Speaker 4 (36:48):
Oh, it's actually Kurt's belt that actually it's not like
it's not like I just need it.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
It's a functional piece.
Speaker 4 (36:53):
It's not like I'm going through Patrick Claibon's Jordan's and
the wearing those like that would.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
Be a crossing.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
I don't I Kurt, if you ever want to borrow
something to mind Cosa Sousa, I don't apologize that it's crazy.
Speaker 5 (37:04):
Ends we get in there, get completely undressed, just rat
tell each other with swels.
Speaker 8 (37:13):
Game Smithsonian belt or something that's supposed to be in
the Smithsonian one that he wore.
Speaker 4 (37:17):
No, I think it's just I think it's like from
Prada or something. It looks really expensive.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
That's exactly what that Angry shirt Angry Runs tea needed
to be paired with with snake skins.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
I know, but like you have to wear a belt
when you do this, because they take these these packs
for your mic and even they clip them on your belt.
Plus I do Angery Runs. My pants would fall down,
they really would.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
I can't have that.
Speaker 4 (37:37):
So, Kurt, you helped me, you helped the show. You're
a great teammate. I feel like oz hakem over here.
I feel like we're teammates now because I have your belt,
and so I'll get it back. I'll put it right back.
I didn't have to admit it. He would have never noticed.
But I feel like being honest.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
Is the right thing.
Speaker 8 (37:48):
I love you, man, I love you. I absolutely love
the name that you chose. You can chose any other
receivers would you throw ods?
Speaker 2 (37:55):
I hear hikings, our guy x's and o's.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
That Kyle just gave you a vision. And the mic
pack and the audio pack, that's what you get on
game day morning on Sunday's nine am Eastern. That's the
crew you see. Kyle Brand squarely sat next to Colleen
wolf Zero.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
I was a fascinated by who makes those and around right?
Who should I put here? Who's going to get offended?
Like a great job, good moan and football
