Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Good morning everybody, and congratulations you made it to Friday.
You survived. This is awesome. The weekend awaits. This is GMFB.
It is Friday, May second. I'm Colling Wolf with Mat Titeo,
and that right there is Kyle Brant and Willie Cologne.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
This is the Great Willie Cologne.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
We are going to debut a new podcast based purely
on what Willy says during commercial breaks. It's going to
be very, very rrated and they won't be able to
be on the NFL media group.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
But Willy has stories. We will keep them private until then.
We got hats.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Which one of these hats best fits a long shot
that might win something this year.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
We'll figure it out.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
But first we have to start the second hour of
the program.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Go good football.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Hello, everybody, lock in, dial in because the weekend awaits.
But this show we're gonna set you up right. And
I can't believe this week has flown by. I've been
here since Monday, and honestly, in the blink of an eye,
it's been super fun. All of the combinations have been awesome.
I've never worked with Willy before. So this is our
maiden voyage as well, and it's great and we have

(01:26):
no cap coming up, so I'm excited about today, shall we?

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Good being Colin, you do have the job this week.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
We're ready to roll, Willy. Are you excited or a
little intimidated by all the caps?

Speaker 3 (01:36):
I'm excited, I'm excited. I'm read it ru Okay, let's go.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
All right, well, let's do it. In case you guys
missed this, the Panthers drafted a Texas A and M
linebacker Nick score turn okay Scorson, and they fixed him
with the fifty first overall pick. Look what he did
after getting drafted here, he grabbed his hat and then
the rest of them take them away, just swipe them
off the table. I asked for chill Rose, not this

(02:01):
lukewarm disappointment. So that brings us to cap or no cap,
and everyone has their hats in front of them, their
new era caps. So let's go first one up here,
JJ McCarthy. He spoke about hal Sam Darnold taught him
how to be a.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
True pro, just being a true pro, you know, showing
up being the same guy every single day.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
You know.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
It didn't matter if he had four touchdowns one week
or you know, had a not so great game the
other week, he showed up and he was the same
guy every day. And that's the biggest thing I took from.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
So grab the hat of the player or the coach
who encapsulates the phrase true pro.

Speaker 6 (02:41):
Listen, when you talk about a linebacker, we're off. Everything
is planned, everything is called coordinating. I got the Jayden
Daniels Jersey on and I got the Washington Commanders. Now
I'm not talking about Jaden Daniels. I am talking about
that Mike Liinberker. Bobby Wagner. Bobby Wagner has been in
the NFL for like seventeen thirteen years. He's right now,

(03:03):
he's tied with three other linebackers, Von Miller, Leavonte David,
and the Mario Davis for the most veteran linebacker in
the NFL. But you know, Willy talked about in the
first hour about the type of conversations that you would
have with veterans for young guys, Well, these are the
type of conversations you could have with a guy like
Bobby Wagner. He's a Super Bowl champ that goes a

(03:24):
long way Tempro Bowl selections, six time first Team, All Pro,
NFL twenty tens.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
All Decade Team. And I don't know if.

Speaker 6 (03:34):
Anybody knows this, but Bobby Wagner is his own agent. Guys,
imagine those types of conversations he's negotiated his past four deals,
which have accumulated two one hundred and twenty five million dollars.
So imagine the type of conversations you can have with
a guy like Bobby Wagner.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
So that's why he's my pros pro Willie.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
All right, Willy, So we got all the teams here,
I wouldn't pick commanders. Messiness of the segment is the funnest.
So is there somebody you have in mind?

Speaker 3 (04:03):
I will help you. I'm going Bryce Young.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Oh you're gonna pad line of panthers. I'm gonna flip
it to you like a shrimp at Benny Hunter. O.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Yeah, listen.

Speaker 7 (04:12):
So the reason I chose Bryce shown because listen, I
understand at twenty twenty three years, two and fifteen, as
a starter, he's dealt with a number of coach of changes,
bad supporting cast.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
But one thing I talk about, we like to highlight
this character.

Speaker 7 (04:25):
He's never complained all he's been able to do is
work and work and get better. They've talked about the side,
they talked about his mechanic, and he's been fined for
and hone in on it, and towards the end of
the season he got better once he got back on
the field. He had fifteen touchdowns and nine interceptions on
the year. But he's now getting into the position where
people and people around him are starting to believe in
his abilities and him as a leader. I love that

(04:47):
a guy that doesn't complain, Kyle, you.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Brought it up early. We live in the world of nil.

Speaker 7 (04:52):
If they don't get the position in they don't like
with these young guys like what they like, they tend
to kind of just leave man.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Brad Jon was like, no, I'm not going anywhere. You
drafted me to.

Speaker 7 (05:00):
Be your quarterback and I'm gonna be the best quarterback
I gotta be for the Carolina Panthers. And I believe
this guy's have a big year this year.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
I love it. And he had really really turned things
around last year.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
They got a new coach, so and everything, and I
think that's a feel good story with Bryce Shunk. Incredibly,
I'm going to go with someone who used to be
a Panther. It really did happen that Baker Mayfield was
a Carolina Panther. And the craziest thing is that we
started this segment with Sam Darnold. He was also a
Panther and a teammate at Baker Mayfield. Listen, you can
hear anybody talk about Baker in the huddle, in the
locker room, anything, and there's many players.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Who can do that. I will just speak.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
I covered the Pro Bowl down in Orlando, and I
witnessed with my eyes what Baker Mayfield does, even at
the Pro Ball, how.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
He handles HI stuff.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Let's just say when I got in the night before
the game, Baker had quite a tab at the bar
because everybody's on it. You want this, you want this?
I got you, I got you. And the next morning
I'm at breakfast. He's there with his family, his baby,
his wife, clear eyed, bushy tailed, ready to roll, working
every table, saying hello, signing autographs, taking pictures. Baker Mayfield

(06:01):
impressed me in a weekend when he could just mail
it in and and lie around if you wanted to.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
I saw with my own eyes.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
I will always be a Baker Mayfield fan and I
know I'm not alone.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Colleen Wilf take us to Q two.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Okay, here we go. Ready, Yeah, I am okay, grab
that of the long shot team. You've got a good
feeling about this season, Manti.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
You know what I'm gonna go.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
With, j e Ts Jets, Jets, Jets.

Speaker 6 (06:24):
I like the Jets because I like Justin Fields. Justin
Fields is one of my favorite quarterbacks in the NFL. However,
there's a bunch of guys on that team that are
just dogs. Breece Hall. Okay, Breyce Hall, one of the
most underrated. I don't know why people don't talk about
this guy more, because this guy, every time he gets
the ball, he's just electric with it. Then, obviously, Garrett Wilson,
Garrett Wilson, Justin Fields both played at Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
There's that connection there already.

Speaker 6 (06:49):
On the defensive side, you guys, you have Quinn Williams,
you have the Williams brothers, yes, Sauce Gardner. So this
is a team that has connection, not only college connection.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
As you see here Justin Field's throwing to Garrett Wilson.

Speaker 6 (07:01):
Look at youre going to see a lot of that
in the green and white over there. At MetLife Stadium.
You're going to see a lot of that that connection.
You're also going to see the connection with the Williams brothers.
There's going to be connections with Breech hauling the touchdown.
So I really think that going into the season, I
like the New York Jets, Willie.

Speaker 7 (07:18):
The Jets hat. What do you got, Willing, Well, I
don't know. I probably didn't do this well enough, but
I'm just gonna throw it out there. I got the Rams. Man,
It's hard to go back, especially when they had long
shot not a long shot, So I apologize, but I
just love them, and I like the fact that they
got Davontae Adams right, and you also got Poopa Noukour
and on top of that, Matthew Stafford.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Matthew Stafford's back in the building.

Speaker 7 (07:39):
And do you understand this team was one minute away
for being in the NFC Championship Game. They're not a
long shot, but they are strong shots. So I'm going
with the La Rams.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
All right, you're really officially a good morning football host
when you start changing the topic.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
I invented the game, WILLI, which is why I respect it.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
I'm going to go traditional though I'm looking again. You
guys know, I've been looking at this all morning, the
DraftKings odds about who's most likely to make the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
I'm gonna with true long shot.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
This is number twenty eight on that list, twenty eighth
most likely the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
What the hell not? It's may second raterer it is. Listen.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
I don't know if the Raiders are gonna win the
Super Bowl this year. I know that they are going
to be a professional unit of players and coaches. They
have a professional coach, they have a professional quarterback. I
like that brain trust right there, especially the guy in
the right. You think Pete Carroll's gonna come in there,
they're gonna go five and twelve this year.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
He doesn't do that. He will not do that with Gino.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
He will not do that with that defense, that brand
new running back they just got. And by the way,
I don't know, I just like it better when the
Raiders matter.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
I really do.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
If I had to pick one team when the league
is more fun when they're good, it's the Raiders. It's
been a minute, of course, But even that joke we
got two years ago when they beat the hell out
of the Chiefs on Christmas Day, that was just this
one off win that didn't amount too much after that,
and it was so exciting because it was the Raiders
who did it.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
I am taking the silver and Black.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
They're my long shot there, like my thirty to one
horse at the derby.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
But I'm still rowing down on him. I like the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Well, I'd say Kyle that the vibes are extremely high
in Cleveland. Everyone always says that about the Browns. It's
a quarterback mecca at this point. They have so many
of them. So maybe though, if Kevin Stefanski can cook
this year, they can kind of get it together.

Speaker 8 (09:20):
A little bit.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Browns, that was your pick.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Yeah, I'm gonna put with the brown put your quarterback mecca.
There's so many. All right, let's go to our last
question here for no Cap. We've talked a lot about
food on this show, especially with Ross Tucker on the
last two days talking about scrapple bacon, all of it,
cream chip beef. So Jameis Winston though, he's checking out
the new food scene at his new home, and we

(09:42):
love this for him.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Got from the Sopranos.

Speaker 9 (09:46):
Gobble Gobble Gobble.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
But Thanksgiving that's gonna be eppy oh gobble.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
So we're taking James Winston out of this because he
would just kind of be the perfect teammate. I think
it the situation, grab the hat of the player you'd
want on your team and an eating competition.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
I got man, Ti, why you choose your hat? Can
I ask Willy something here? Keep us on the two shot? Willie?

Speaker 1 (10:14):
You are from the Bronx. You played for the Jets
for party career. Do you know what gabba gul is?

Speaker 3 (10:20):
Yeah? I think I do? What is it like? Some
people don't know? I've learned that. What do you think
it is?

Speaker 8 (10:25):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (10:25):
You put me on a spot. You think it's all right?

Speaker 7 (10:27):
You know it's like a type of salami, right, Yeah, yeah,
that's what I thought.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Yes, I think it's officially it's like a nickname for
something called copy cola, which is like salamian m hybrid.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
Yeah, yes, that's the deal. So you got it? Got it?
And it's why don't we have some in here? We
talked so much? Gossa?

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Where's a little charkouterie a gobba gool on a piece
of wood?

Speaker 3 (10:45):
What do you got, Manta? Well? I got is this, guys.

Speaker 6 (10:47):
I got my guy from the Tempa Bay Buccaneers beat
the Beya.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Now, the reason why I would love to have.

Speaker 6 (10:55):
An eating competition with Beata Bea as my teammate just
isn't the fact that he's going to eat a lot
and I'm going to eat a lot. It's going to
be hopefully that type of food we're going to eat,
eat a lot of them.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Obviously we're both Polynesian.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
So if there's some if there's some tarot, if there's
some lucipilupulu.

Speaker 6 (11:12):
Some momoy, whatever it is, my boy is like spam,
we are down for it.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
That's like, look at that guy. Ain't no way you
can play.

Speaker 6 (11:20):
See really played with no socks, beat the place with
no gloves. You gotta love them guys, and I love
beat the Veil and I would love to be his
partner in an eating competition.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Hopefully it's party food, Willie.

Speaker 9 (11:33):
What you got?

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Uh? Does that to be current of past anything?

Speaker 7 (11:39):
So there was a teammate that I had the name
perfect for this. His name was Damon Snacks. Harra I
love Uh snacks is all about the snacks. And Uh,
there's somebody I want to sit down and put my
elbows on the table next to It'll probably be Big Snacks.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Now there was a host of others.

Speaker 7 (11:54):
Casey Hampton shot out to Big Max Starks, but Damond
Snacks Harris that he throwed them.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
Would USO say it Snacks as a New York giant,
like oh it's jet Jet, Yeah, jet, let's let's we
even have there's the Jets.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
Put that on.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
I'm again gonna teach you guys something in this segment.
You gotta you gotta think about chess rather than checkers.
And I'm want to come over here because when Manti
sits down with Vita Vea and Big Willy sits down
with Snacks, you guys are gonna be able to out
eat anybody.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
So I have to out strategize you.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna distract you
and my partner.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
My partner is gonna be Shaduur.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
Because sit down, and you guys are gonna start looking
at him and talking about him and arguing about him.
And while you're distracted, I'm just eating because Shadur cannot
enter a room, let alone some sort of sporting venue
without everybody talking and arguing and debating.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
So you're gonna think you're gonna eat and you're like.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Oh, Shadur's here, I have to take some Shador, and
then Vita's gonna take some Shador, and meanwhile I'm just
putting away the food with Shadur, and you guys lose.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
So you want to have a shiny object.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
I think Shador could beat the gorilla because the gorilla
would be conductive, and I think Shadur could beat you.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Guys in the eating contest. I'm going to Shador for
all of these.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Colleens of a distraction technique that is brilliant.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
Kyle.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
Also, I can't believe no one said Desmond Watson really
next to next.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
To me to minue, we're talking about Watson. It just
seemed too easy, too easy. We're not box Actually I
got sixty four. I didn't think that. I did think
of this.

Speaker 6 (13:21):
Most lineman, yeah, post career go skinny because they just
don't eat that much, Whereas the smaller guys get bigger
because they start.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Those habits aren't the same.

Speaker 6 (13:30):
So it's just not thinking of the smaller guy that
I probably could do.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
But you put a lot of thought into that. Let's
go AFB.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
What about Maxwell Harriston? Would you like him on your
team and then eating.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
Yeah, he's gonna cheer me on, baby.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Yeah, that's right. We have the newest bill joining us
later in the show, Kyle.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
This guy's mister Electricity. If he didn't see him at
the draft, dof he did.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
That's the dude.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
He is all joy, all enthusiasm, and he's coming out
of Good Morning Football shortly. Plus the guy who's already here,
the guy who we're sitting next to you right now.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
He covers the Jets. Ye watch, Daron Rodgers, you played
for the Steelers. Will we see Rogers on the Steelers
this year?

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Well, he's gonna talk about it right after this an
actual insight, not just barking in noise about this topic.

Speaker 10 (14:16):
Here it comes, Good Morning Football's back.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
He pumps, he scrambles around, throws it back one of
the end zone.

Speaker 6 (14:36):
San Antonio in the Futch down, san Antonio, I don't
know how we didn't dominate Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
Crombart. He doesn't know how he did it.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
But they wrote touchdown with the fire right corner of
the end zone at.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
Super Bowl forty three is history. The Petrimwork Steelers have
won the Super Bowl for.

Speaker 8 (14:56):
A six time.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
Unprest intented to get the handles of NFL play.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
How do you do?

Speaker 2 (15:04):
But it Willie Cologne. How did Santonio Holmes pull that off?
I want to talk about all things Steelers with Willy Cologne.
He spent six years with them, won a Super Bowl
with them, was a fourth round draft pick by them.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
So I must know.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Obviously, I know this is low hanging fruit, and we
were just talking about, Oh this is to that topic's
too easy or this answer is too easy. But we
must talk about Aaron Rodgers. I need to know what
you think about this waiting game that the Steelers are
playing with him.

Speaker 7 (15:29):
Well, I do believe he's going to be playing for
the Steelers in the fall. It's just a matter of
them acknowledging it and in him walking in the building
and saying I'm all yours.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
The bottom line is they don't have any options.

Speaker 7 (15:39):
I know I'm a believer in Mason Rudolph, but you
got to when you pay attention to last season, especially
towards the back end, they didn't have a quarterback and
Russell Wilson I could compete with a Patrick Mahomes or
Lamar Jackson or Joe Burrow talked bout Aaron Rodgers Valley.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
He's forty two.

Speaker 7 (15:52):
Years old and he's dealing with it, coming off in
Achilles two years ago. But he's still playing at a
high level when he has enough time in the pocket.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
I watched him with the New York Jets, and.

Speaker 7 (16:01):
Towards the last couple of games, he started to see
resemblance of the old Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
So now you give.

Speaker 7 (16:05):
Him a rung game, you give him pieces on the
outside like a dk metcalf and a you know, a
defense that could really go to work, and give them
back the ball, give them multiple.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Opportunities to score. Things can happen. Now. A lot of
baggage comes with.

Speaker 7 (16:18):
Aaron Rodgers, and a lot comes with them ball Broall
there's Stellers want to compete. They want they's tired of
being a mediocre or just being made if you will.
They need a quarterback that can right raise the bar
and bring him to the next level.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
And Aaron Rodgers went healthy.

Speaker 7 (16:31):
And enough time in the pocket, he can be that
god for the Steelers.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
What's fascinating is this purgatory that we're in. Okay, because
we thought for sure, if it was going to happen,
it's got to happen before the draft. It didn't happen
before the draft. They did take a quarterback late. But
there's also a way that Steelers do business, which everyone
has a lot of respect for. There's a lot of
dignity there and there's takes that it is dare I say,

(16:56):
undignified to sit around and wait for this forty one
year old guy to make his choice. Do I want
to be with you? Do I not want to be
with you? As a former Steeler? How do you feel
and how do you think Tomlin is handling all this?

Speaker 3 (17:07):
I think they're handling well.

Speaker 7 (17:09):
You had to believe they have had conversations him and
mister Rooney and Mike Tomlin and Anna Rodgers. They've all
had a conversation and it's probably a tomline that we're
just not privy to. That's the bottom I think there's
an understanding, and I think there is an understanding. I
also believe that Annon Rodgers wants to play for the
Pittsburgh Steelers, or you wouldn't see footage of him throwing
to DK Metcalf on a high school field. You wouldn't
see him doing things with guys who are on the roster.

(17:31):
So I believe that he will be a Steeler. It's
just a matter of time and we'll see what happens.
But I think right now we just got to believe
that Anon Rodgers win and if win, because I don't
count my money till it's in my hand, will be
a Pittsburgh steel to come this fall.

Speaker 6 (17:45):
Man, Tom, Yeah, Willie, I totally agree that that he
is going to be a Pittsburgh Steeler. But you did
talk about that he is a big character guy. He's
a guy that comes into that that locker room and
could ruffle up some feathers, could make some change. However,
this is the Pittsburgh Steelers and all I remember hearing
from guys like Troy Polamalu and Chris Kimoi out to
is the steerer Can you elaborate what that means? Like,

(18:06):
I've never played for the Steelers, I've never been in
that locker room. So what is it that makes the
steerer way just a little bit different that it kind
of transcends whoever comes into that locker room.

Speaker 7 (18:16):
Yeah, I tell everybody, if you wonder what the stealerway
is and what the creed is, go back to Troy
pola Madel's Hall of Fame speech, and he laid it
out very playing and simple. Its about playing for your brother,
playing itselfish a brand of football, and I was privy
to play not along just alongside Troy Pola Madel, but
a host of other guys who would jump on the
grenade for their brother.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
And that's what it means.

Speaker 7 (18:36):
And so when it comes down to playing the steal Away,
it's about family first. It's about accepting the challenge and
realize if you put your best foot forward and be
willing to be there in the battle for your brother,
good things will happen. And that's what was so special
about my time in Pittsburgh that I had guys like
Ben Rosberger, Hayes Ward, Aaron Smith, and a host of
other is Troy Pola Madel, all these guys will do
anything and everything to win on Sunday, but they were

(18:58):
willing to do everything for me and the rest of
my teammates. And that's what the Pittsburgh Steelers I knew
in Rude of Love is because it's not about just
the simbo on the side of your home, and it's
not about the paycheck. It's about being there for your brother.
With accounts, the most and that's the stealer it.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
We're turning the page with Rogers, but we've been remissed
to not talk to you about the last chapter. You
are very, very very plugged in with the Jets. It
did not end in a way anybody wanted with Rogers,
up to and including him divulging the details of a
conversation with the new head coach flippantly emotionally, give us
a breakdown of your thoughts on how it ended with

(19:32):
Rogers and the Jets.

Speaker 7 (19:33):
Well, I'm gonna say this. I understand Aaron Glenn's urgency.
I understand him really realizing, like I got a shock
confidence back into this locker room and understand that I
got a core group of guys at Quentin Williams, Salz Gardner,
Garrett Wilson, guys who when they joined the organization was
drafted by this organization. They had a belief that they
was going to change to how the Jets are perceived,

(19:56):
and it hasn't happened. You know, a lot of these
guys come from winning organizations and now that they've been
a Jet, all they've done is loss, And you talk
about quit. Williams, twenty seven years old, who's going to
be in next three years is gonna be thirty years old.
He hasn't sniffed the playoffs. That's a long time being
outside of the playoffs. So I understand Aaron Glenn's approach.
A lot of people talked about his delivery and the
conversation him and Aaron Rodgers had. I don't That really

(20:18):
doesn't mean anything to me because Aaron Glynn was in
the building when I was in two back in twenty
thirteen as a scout, and now that he's back in
the building as a head coach, the Jets still haven't
made a playoff. So he has a fire in his
belly about realizing that I got to save this locker
room believe that they can win, and I got to
get these guys moving in the right direction, and I
got built a philosophy and a coach where these guys
can travel. You understand that just were two and five

(20:39):
on the road and the Buffalo Bills when the AFC
Championship and they.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
Were five and four. Those are the top dogs at
that division.

Speaker 7 (20:46):
And he has to get this Jets team real like,
we have the talent, we have the personnel, but we
got to be a walking brand and a rough and
tough group that can win on the road, win at home,
and get into the playoffs. That's all Aaron Glenn cares about,
and that's all any Jets fans should care about.

Speaker 3 (20:59):
Getting to the playoffs and winning.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
And changing culture is something that takes a while. That's
something that hopefully Aaron Glenn will be able to turn
things around quickly. But that seems like the main thing
that needs to change first. Anything anyone that's toxic needs
to go. Everyone needs to buy in. And that sounds
like why one of the reasons potentially why Aaron Rodgers
is not a good fit for Aaron Glenn. So we'll

(21:21):
just sit on pause and kind of wait for Lord
Rogers to bestow us with his decision whenever that is.
But the Steelers, meanwhile, they drafted quarterback Will Howard. And
you played with Big Ben when he was on his
way to becoming an absolute legend. So do you think
that Will Howard can be the Steelers' next long term
answer a quarterback?

Speaker 3 (21:40):
Well, so I'll see.

Speaker 7 (21:41):
I mean, people don't realize he's a big man, just
like Big Ben. He's six' five and he's been through
a lot of. ADVERSITY i think one of the things
that was telling About Will howard when they lost To. Michigan,
man this team could attained, right but they. Did they
kept moving. On they put it together and they started
laying teams down one by one after, that and they
went all the way to The National. Championship one thing
About Will, howard he's a. Competitor and when you talk

(22:02):
to his, teammates and you can tell because you played,
football they always ask your teammate if you in the back.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
Alley it was, like who do you bring with your?
Guy people Say Will howard? Quarterback they say that quarterback's that.

Speaker 7 (22:13):
Means a lot. Man that means a guy who's. Willing
LIKE i talked about this steal. Away what is the steal?
Away being able to be there for your, brother go
to battle for your, brother and compete at the highest.
Level and that's What will HOW i was willing to.
Do now can't he be the future for The Pittsburgh.
Steelers we should. See he will get the. Opportunity he
just has to. Perform BUT i like to pick.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
When would you, Say Willie James? Harrison oh, me now
without a, Doubt, Deebo, yeah you don't even need to be.

Speaker 7 (22:37):
There just like if you just Send deebo and you
watch hop.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
On the, end what do you?

Speaker 8 (22:41):
Go?

Speaker 3 (22:41):
REALLY i want to stay on on the topic Of Big.

Speaker 6 (22:43):
Ben we do a lot of, this, well at Least
kyle And colleen, does And jamie does as.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
Well it's called ada. Lib AND i remember when.

Speaker 6 (22:51):
We were about to play at The steelers that week
of Prep Aaron glenn talking About Aaron, glenn he was
our secondariest coach for The. Saints his report On Big
ben in that offense, Was, HEY i don't.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
Care how they start their.

Speaker 6 (23:03):
Route Big ben is gonna add lib and he's gonna
scramble out of. There he's going to break a couple
of tackles and those initial routes are going to turn
into other. Rocks how was it for you playing with
somebody Like Big ben and how is that experience to
see him operate behind?

Speaker 3 (23:17):
Center, well first and, foremost that's my. BROTHER i love
him to.

Speaker 7 (23:20):
Death but on the playing, field if you're an office
alarnment blocker from, understand you can't play with a clock.
Right he's going to, Improvive he's going to move and
groove and he's gonna make it happen when it counts the,
most and also at the end of the, day he's
a hard man to. Tackle when you see that sixty five,
frame two hundred plus plus, body you can't just throw
one guy at. Him you got to throw multiple waves

(23:40):
of guys at him because he can give you the dead,
leg he could take the impact and he can spur
him out of.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
Anything but also he knows his own.

Speaker 7 (23:46):
Bodies you see him giving a guy did on right
here looking down the, field delivered the. Football one Thing
ben does really, well he shows up when it counts the.

Speaker 3 (23:54):
Most and that's the pretty much that pitted me his.

Speaker 7 (23:56):
Career when you needed a, touchdown when you needed a big,
play you can count on. Seven and that's WHY i
loved playing for. HIM a lot of times when we
thought we were dead in the, water he looked in his. Eyes,
man he was ready to take it on the team
and put The cape on his. Back and that's why
he was a superhero for a lot of.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
Us he had ay incredible guy to block. Four the
play is never. Over it's so fun to. WATCH i
just like seeing those. Highlights we Mentioned debo a moment,
earlier were talking About James. HARRISON i think he made
the biggest play In Super bowl. HISTORY i don't think
he can have a bigger play in the sport on
that stage than the one that he made Against. Arizona
to get, you guys in A Super bowl ring right before,
halftime you're on the. Team everybody watching knows this. Play

(24:32):
BUT i want to hear your perspective on The James harrison,
Off Kirk warner pick.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
Sex just take us through. It, yeah so.

Speaker 7 (24:38):
Interesting i'm on the sideline trying to get some married
because we just stalled another drive and the defense got
back on the.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
Field. Man and what's.

Speaker 7 (24:43):
Interesting about this play At Mike tomlin the week prior
to this is, like hey, guys we're going to get
an interception and we gonna need a calvary to rally
and get this guy into the end. Zone so we
see Big Lamar willie throw a, Block we See Brett,
keasey we See Ryan clark trying to go get him
Some this is a total defensive effort Getting James harrison the.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
End zone and he was able to deliver.

Speaker 7 (25:02):
It, Now debo's out of breath right, here AND i
don't belat he ran.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
A long, way, man but you got to.

Speaker 7 (25:06):
Understand Bruce arens always told us he was a, listen,
guys if we're able to score before, halftime we got
a good shot at winning that. Game, well we didn't
do that as an. Offense so the defense picked us.
Up And James haverin using this And James harrison using
his instinct getting that pick Off Kurt warner and taking.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
The yard was.

Speaker 7 (25:22):
HUGE i was on the sideline And i'm, screaming And
i'm tapping my right, Guard Darnell, stapleton and we're going
crazy and at the same time we're, like, listen, man
now we're in. This and by the, way even though
San Antonio holmes scored that touchdown at the end to
win the, game If James harrison doesn't score that touchdown before,
halftime we don't win That Super. Bowl So James harrison
had one of the most iconic plays in all Of

(25:43):
Super bowl history and he deserves.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
It that's my. BROTHER i love.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
Him every TIME i watched the, PLAY i Think Larry
fitzgerald is going to catch, him and he never.

Speaker 3 (25:50):
Quite almost got, it almost a, god but you mentioned.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
It so this is truly really a very very memorable
Classic Super bowl against a really Gutty cardinals team who
did not want to. Lose they're up, there looks like The.
Cardinals oh my, God Kurt winner is gonna. Win for
forty three. Seconds you mentioned the, Play, roethlisberger The. Holmes
you're on the, Field, yeah play take us to tell us.

Speaker 3 (26:10):
Everything, well we had been in that situation so many.

Speaker 7 (26:12):
Times you understand that year we had multiple comeback wins
and just happens to.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
Be one of.

Speaker 7 (26:17):
THIS i remember right before we got on the, Field
ben is, Like, hey we know what to.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
Do let's just go out and do. It it wasn't no.

Speaker 7 (26:22):
Need for the kind of raw rob, talk and we
was able to do. It one of the special moments
for me in this game is there's a photo Shot
Tony Tuto Santonio holmes bringing it in and about three
rows three rows up in the, stands it's my mother
next to my.

Speaker 3 (26:37):
Brother, yeah and she she doesn't.

Speaker 7 (26:39):
See the play because her face is stuck in The. Bible,
yes her face on the. Game she brought The bible
to that game and her face is stuck in The.
Bible and my brother is screaming there like this we got.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
It we touchdown and my.

Speaker 7 (26:52):
Mother never looks up until the review because they had
to review. It he, was, actually, yeah my my mom
got rest of the soul is probably all the four.
Eleven my brother's like picking up like a puppet and they're,
screaming and it was just probably one of the most
iconic shots, man AND i have it somewhere in the.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
HOUSE i don't know where it's. AT i got a
lot junk in the. House but, nevertheless, man it was
it was. Awesome it was. Awesome so you had a
touchdown was.

Speaker 7 (27:15):
Great but to see my talking to The Good, lord
well we needed it most was it was.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
Incredible what do you guys think in La, oh that's so.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
Cool first of, ALL i love that she had The
bible with her and that she Was that's something that
my mom would actually do, too like not watch the.
Game there was One Super bowl where she made everyone
leave the house and she said that there would be
no Super bowl on at the house and everyone had
to go somewhere. Else so like. SUPERSTITIONS i. Love but
your mom seems.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
Awesome, no it's so it's it's just, Fitting.

Speaker 6 (27:42):
Willie WHEN i watched that highlight Of James harrison's, interception
you refer to the Steal away and just listen To
Troy paulamlu's. Speech you could just put on that one
clip and watch out how many guys are just blocking
From that's the steal, away you, know and it never
really clicked until you came on the.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
Show so Thanks wully for taking us down memory.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
Link welcome back TO gmfb on This, friday where there
is so much caffeine in the, studio we could fuel
a small village of, people which brings me To Omar,
ruiz Because, omar are we going to be playing volleyball

Speaker 8 (28:30):
Green all?

Speaker 3 (28:31):
Right, well you live IN. La we live IN.

Speaker 11 (28:33):
La we see license plates all the time from different.
States the one that always catches my eye Is New
Hampshire's Live free Or, die one of the states that
support The New England, patriots of, course might have to
change it to fight and. Die that's because The patriots
had the fourth overall pick in last week's draft and
went WITH lsu offensive Tackle Will campbell to help bolster

(28:54):
the offensive line.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
In front Of Drake.

Speaker 11 (28:56):
Maine you, right Remember campbell was very emotional on stage
with our very Own Jamie rtall after being drafted and
said he's going to fight and die to Protect may
and The patriots running. Backs Well may heard those comments
and can't wait to suit up with his new.

Speaker 12 (29:12):

like a football. Player that's what you want around here In.

Speaker 11 (29:32):
Tennessee The titans signing wide Receiver Tyler lockett to a
one year, deal and as he met with reporters, yesterday
he went around the entire media room and shook hands
with everybody. There lockett was asked why he did, that
why that was so important for.

Speaker 13 (29:47):
HIM i, MEAN i feel, like you, know y'all are
just as much as family as everybody that's gonna be,
teammates right, like so you got to get to know the,
coaches get to know the. Media you guys are gonna
be the one who's writing stories about, us whether it's
good or, bad and who. Knows sometimes doing that, handshake
you might be a little little bit more lenient.

Speaker 14 (30:06):
With The.

Speaker 11 (30:09):
He's one of my favorite players in THE. Nfl that's

Family Cam Bine, THEM i played for The Indianapolis. Colts
i'm the safety And I'm. Filipino the most important part
in my culture is probably just the community and family
aspect that we like to live. By no matter WHERE i,
Go filipino culture is second to. None that's the first
thing that people. Say the people are so.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
Cool growing, up.

Speaker 15 (30:51):
My mom was always the one doing all the, cookie
whether synagogue or chicken and. Dogles she made sure that
we had every type of, food just so we can
know where we come from and the most popular foods
in our.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Culture filipino FOOD i would describe as.

Speaker 15 (31:05):
Amazing that's pretty, broad but just the way that there's
so many different types of things and different types of.
Flavors senagogue is for sure my number One filipino. Food
it's super popular In filipino culture and being a soup
that has a lot of different things and a lot
of different vegetables as whatever the choice of protein that
you want to put in. There but it's also something
that you eat with. Rice, filipinos the every single thing with.

(31:27):
Rice it's something that you have to have for. Yourself
to one of the best lazines in the.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
World being a.

Speaker 15 (31:32):
Professional athlete And filipino at the same, TIME i THINK
i have a unique opportunity to show people that it's.
Possible IF i can do, it anybody else can do.
