Good Morning Football.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Yeah, let's go. This is Good Morning Football. Everybody, welcome inside.
We're live in LA, We're live in New York. It's Monday,
February twenty fourth, twenty twenty five, kind of frost the
official start of the off season.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
I'm Davie ear at all.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Here is Manti Teo, Peter Schrager in New York as always,
and guys, GMFB, it's Cody Kessler.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Welcome to by Cody.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Cody. What's going on?

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Uh, Peter Schrager?

Speaker 3 (00:47):
What are your memories of a Cody Kessler coming out
his time in the NFL. I like how you always
set the table for us.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
And please do it with one of our new hosts.

Speaker 5 (00:55):
Well, I remember Cody Kessler as a high school player
at Bakersfield. He was the Catorade Player of the Year
State of California with the USC Trojan and Cody, tell
me if I'm wrong, round pick of the Browns. And
I want to say I was on the sidelines for
one of your first NFL games.

Speaker 6 (01:09):
A really nice NFL career.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
We have bounced around at the end, but totally at
LA product once you went to USC, and I know
you're killing it in LA now doing a lot of
stuff in the media, and we're excited to have you
on Good Morning Football.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
Yeah, I appreciate it.

Speaker 7 (01:20):
Pere, I've been thing. You got twenty bucks there for that.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:23):
No, I got drafted to Cleveland in the third round.

Speaker 7 (01:26):
It's been a couple of years there. Then went to Jacksonville, Philly,
and then ended up in New England. But yeah, I've been.

Speaker 8 (01:30):
Doing broadcasting now and I was going to get into coaching,
kind of playing with both and then talk to Mark
Santaez is a good friend of mine, and talk me
into broadcasting. So here we are now and I'm having
a blast doment. But I appreciate you guys having me
on USC Quarterbacks and broadcasting.

Speaker 6 (01:40):
It's a good it's a good mix.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
They do a great job, and it's so good to
have you here. Bro. It's always nice.

Speaker 9 (01:45):
When when I get to feel like a little veteran
in my short time here on the show.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
It's welcome to the family. It's a big family thing
and we're gonna have some fun.

Speaker 6 (01:53):
Jamie.

Speaker 5 (01:53):
I want to say, Cody and I this is off
the script. It's not in your Wikipedia page, not on Google,
But I remember, weren't you also like a nasty high
school basketball player?

Speaker 4 (02:02):
Yes, I like talk about.

Speaker 6 (02:04):
A high school b ball career because I remember that coming.

Speaker 5 (02:06):
Out of high school it was like football and basketball.

Speaker 8 (02:08):
Yeah, this was my claim to athleticism in the locker
room at USC was okay because I was a pro
style quarterback, right, but I could.

Speaker 7 (02:14):
Hoop a little bit on the side.

Speaker 8 (02:15):
And high school freshman year played varsity average fifteen sophomore
he went about twenty four my junior year. We can
check the tape, Peter, I appreciate it. Average thirty a game,
junior thirty a game as a point guard. So that's
the only time. Yeah, I didn't pass a whole you
can tell it was.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
It was respect.

Speaker 7 (02:33):
Kick a couple of the corner. If they're not hitting them,
then I were going I a the rest of the game.

Speaker 8 (02:37):
But yeah, that was my sence. I wasn't a dual threat.
I couldn't really run. I had the knee brace on
in college. My high school basketball tape was my claim out.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
So what happened, Like the money is like footballs were
the money or whatever, Like why not basketball why not
playing in the NCAA tournament.

Speaker 8 (02:50):
You know what, I had to make that decision to
Jamie in my junior of high school. It was down
which with my head coach, Brian Nixon at Centennial High School,
and we were talking about do we want to go basketball?

Speaker 7 (02:58):
We want to go football?

Speaker 8 (02:59):
And sure enough I went to the camp circuit for
high school's mantaios and you go all over the country
and to all that, I started getting a lot more
offers for football than basketball. Went that route and then
it ended up working out for me a little bit.
But yeah, it was tough to leave. I didn't play
my senior year of high school and basketball. I had
to walk away from it because I went to USC early.
But I feel like I made the right decision.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
All right, Well that's Cody Kesler in the nutshell, But
you're here all week with us.

Speaker 8 (03:19):
Right Yeah, No, Kyle's on vacation, so hopefully I.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Can do him justice.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
All right, all right, Cody tom Pellisero, do you feel
like we should go back to the Cody Kessler combine
era or do you want to set the stage for
us as our NFL Insider assigned this week at Lucas
Soil Stadium, at least for today. I know Peter Fregger
is going to get out there in a couple of
days to Indianapolis.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
But Tom Pete, what's happening this morning, buddy? What are
we looking at?

Speaker 6 (03:43):
Well? And I started out with my favorite Cody Kessler fact,
which is the fact he had an agent named Andrew
Kessler who was not his father, not even related, just
one of the statistical odds of that you selected agent
who's got the exact same last name. The workouts here
inside Lucas Oil Stadium not going to get going till Thursday.
Right now, It's just it's me and the guy with
the vacuum cleaner sucking up the extra rubber, preparing that

(04:05):
turf to get the fastest possible forty times that we've
got here. The defensive linemen, linebackers, and the specialists started
coming into town yesterday. Today the defensive backs arrived, as
do the tight ends, and of course we're all looking
forward to those on the field sessions starting on Thursday.
The quarterbacks receivers they get out there on Saturday exclusively
on NFL Network. A lot of the news though at

(04:28):
the combine every year, occurs in the restaurants and bars
and hotels around town. I already saw some GMS when
I was out to dinner last night. Here we've got
some really high level, unresolved situations will begin to take
steps forward through the course this week. Let's start out
at the quarterback position. Aaron Rodgers right now has not
been officially released by the Jets, but based on them

(04:49):
announcing that they were partying ways, other teams are allowed
to speak with his agent. You've got the fluid situation
involving Kirk Cousins and the Falcons right now. He's got
a looming guarantee vesting in mid March. Here are they
going to release him? Could they potentially try to keep
He's got a no trade clause that still needs to
be sorted out here. And then Matthew Stafford as well,

(05:09):
his future in LA at this point in doubt, the
Rams recently granting permission for his agent to speak to
other clubs get a feel for what should the contract be,
whether Stafford ends up returning to LA or potentially going
elsewhere in a trade. There's a whole lot more. Miles
Garrett's trade request is still hanging out there. The Cooper
Cup and Deebo Samuel Talks are hanging out there as well.

(05:30):
This is the time where teams and agents and teams
and teams gms actually get together, speak face to face
and maybe laid the groundwork for some of the big
news we're going to see over the next couple of
weeks with the free agent negotiating window Jamie opening two
weeks from today, Tom, can you answer.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
A burning question I've had about the combine? I got
to go the last two years. I'm not going this year.
You talk about the face to face interaction the GMS
have some of these coaches. How much dealing is actually
done at the tables amongst medium rare stakes in Indianapolis?
Or is this is draft talk? You're talking about players
they were there this week?

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Like how much in the weeds do we get when it.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Comes to free agency and guys that are available?

Speaker 6 (06:09):
I would say this, and Peter certainly correct me if
I'm wrong, because you spend a lot of times around
town here working your sources as well. I believe the
dinners because everybody can see you at dinner. You go
to a place like Saint Elmos, you can look across
the room see who's having dinner with who. Those are
a lot of times just the oh, I'm catching up
with friends. The real meetings. The important stuff is happening
in room six't eighty two at the Embassy suites where

(06:32):
nobody can see exactly what's going on. And then Hey,
we're gonna jump on the phone over the next couple weeks.
By the way, I don't know who's stayed in room
sixt eighty two. Nobody going knock on the door. That's
a made up number, a real hotel. Please nobody go there.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
Vacuuming up the pellets, Peter on the in the turf
behind Tom.

Speaker 6 (06:46):
He's got to quiet it down out there. I would
say this, and Tom's right.

Speaker 5 (06:50):
We've had many stories in the past two wheres during
the drills, everyone has focused on what rich Eysen and
Daniel Jeremiah are saying and what this shuttle time is.
These teams are all there in the actual Lucas Oil corridors,
and that's where a lot of these conversations happen because
there's dead time. So Tom can attest to this. We
have heard of trades that have been executed of one
general manager walking over to the suite of another general

(07:12):
manager while the linemen are running forties and everyone's watching that.
There's actually deals being going on around veterans being traded.
So there's legal tampering, there's non legal tampering, there's all
sorts of things, but there are always conversations happening, and
that's what makes the combine so juicy. In addition to
the great drolls that we'll be showing on the network
all week.

Speaker 6 (07:30):
And we will be here throughout the week, full coverage
every half hour on the hour. I don't know if
that's a phrase, but I'll be here. I'm not allowed
to leave. Actually, I'm just going to be in the
stadium all the way through Thursday.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
We appreciate everything Tom, especially when it comes to the
high level stuff, and even all the way down to
the low level. Those little turf pellets are aniacle. You
find them in your suitcase after the combine, like weeks later.
Where do these come from? Indianapolis is the answer? All right,
we are entering the off season. The Tennessee Titans are
officially on the clock. We are talking teams in twenty
twenty five that this summer. Over the next couple of months, Peter,

(08:03):
you find have the most intrigue when you are looking
at what they could possibly accomplish ahead of next year.

Speaker 5 (08:09):
Yeah, look, you've got now a solid two three week
span where teams are gonna look to find their free
agent pieces, and then you have another solid two to
three week span where they build their draft board. That
it's the draft, and then you got your roster and
you're good to go. And as Tom said, there are
so many unresolved issues, specifically at the quarterback position. The
team that I'm looking at as a team that seems
to get to the playoffs every year and has a

(08:31):
giant question market quarterback, that's the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Pittsburgh
Steelers decided to Jennison Kenny Pickett last year and said, Okay,
we're gonna cut bait On on a twentieth overall pick
and we're gonna go with the Justin Fields Russell Wilson
do Well. It was great to start off, they were
ten to three, and then the season hit the skids.

Speaker 6 (08:49):
And what happened in.

Speaker 5 (08:51):
The end, Well, it was the same Steelers that we
have seen every time they've been in the playoffs since
twenty seventeen.

Speaker 6 (08:58):
It ended with a loss. Take a look at how the.

Speaker 5 (08:59):
Steelers seasons have ended once they've reached a postseason the
last seven years. Twenty seventeen lost, twenty twenty lost, twenty
twenty one lost, twenty twenty three lost, twenty twenty four lost.

Speaker 6 (09:13):
And now you don't have a quarterback.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
Under contract going into combine week. That includes Justin Fields,
that includes Russell Wilson, and of course Kenny Pickett is
over in Philly now, So I look at this Steelers team,
what are you?

Speaker 6 (09:27):
Are you a team in transition? Are you in rebuild mode?
Or are you a team that has TJ.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
Watt on one side, Alex heide Smith Alex Tidsmith on
another side? And the ability to say, are we the
team that's gonna go and get Matthew Stafford.

Speaker 6 (09:43):
Are we the team that's gonna get Aaron Rodgers?

Speaker 5 (09:45):
Are we the team that's gonna get Kirk Cousins. Are
we the team that's gonna get Derek Carr? There are
so many viable veteran options out there.

Speaker 6 (09:53):
They did this dance last year. They decided on.

Speaker 5 (09:56):
Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, but with the twenty first
overall pick, and what I would say is an underwhelming
quarterback class.

Speaker 6 (10:05):
I would think they're going to go veteran again, or
do they bring.

Speaker 5 (10:08):
Backfields and say we're four and two and we decided
to throw in Russ Or do they bring back Russ.

Speaker 6 (10:14):
Steelers are fascinating.

Speaker 5 (10:15):
A good team, not a great team, but that's been
their story for nearly a decade in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 8 (10:22):
Yeah, I'm gonna go with the New England Patriots. I
love the Mike Rabel hire. I think that's a home
run hire, one of the best acquisitions this offseason. I
love where Drake May left off the season right going
into year two. Now we have some tape and we
talked about that jump from year one to year two
as a quarterback and how big that is. He has
some self scout tape to go back and watch.

Speaker 7 (10:39):
And learn from.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
It's going to be his first full year as a starter.

Speaker 8 (10:41):
But the most intriguing thing for me is that they
own more cap space than any team in the NFL
by thirty million. Right, they have a ton of money
to work with this offseason.

Speaker 4 (10:49):
They just have to use it in the right places.

Speaker 8 (10:51):
And for me, what does that look like going out
and getting a star wide receiver right surrounding Drake May
with some guys on the perimeter that can go out
there and play well. Go find some guys on the
offensive line, some pieces.

Speaker 7 (11:00):
That you need up front.

Speaker 8 (11:00):
Go find somebody else on the trenches on the other
side on defense. Right on that front, seven developed a
depth on that side in football, play some Mike Grabel
New England Patriots a type of football on the defensive
side of the ball, which I think is so important.
But also they have the fourth overall pick too, so
they can go somewhere with that.

Speaker 7 (11:15):
Now what's interesting for me is what do they do
with that pick?

Speaker 4 (11:17):
Right?

Speaker 8 (11:18):
Do they go get Will Campbell, left tackle at LSU.
Do they go get Mason Graham, who's a defensive lineman
over at Michigan. Do they go get Travis Hunter? You know,
you get a two for one type player with him,
who can play offense, who can play defense. And you know,
all these things look great on paper. But if you
don't go out and get the job done right, if
you don't make the right picks in the offseason in
the draft, if you don't got there and make a
huge impact in free agency, then it's all window dressing, right,

(11:40):
and you're right back to where you started, and the
New England fans are hungry to get back to that success.
They've struggled since Tom Brady has left. Like I said,
everything looks great. I love Mike Grabel, Drake May, all
the money that they have and for free agency and
all the draft capital they have, But they've got to
get the job done this offseason and make a huge
impact if they want to get back to where they
need to run.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
It feels like the Patriots right now are maybe similar
to what the Browns went through for a long time,
which is it feels like every single position you could
add a guy besides Drake May, who is their star?

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Who do you put on the poster board?

Speaker 3 (12:09):
So when you're on a team like that, which you
were in Cleveland when you were playing, how infuriating is
that to be in a system where you're like, my lord,
we need to fix everything or we need to add
to every single position group.

Speaker 8 (12:21):
Yeah, I was naive as a rookie, so I got
drafted third round of Cleveland. Those where the years we
went one in thirty two over that two year stretch.
That second year though, I didn't start a game, so
that owned sixteen year. I try not to Okay, get
my name on of that. Well, well brings over that there.

Speaker 7 (12:34):
But but yeah, that was tough.

Speaker 4 (12:36):
You know.

Speaker 8 (12:36):
We had RG three starting and he ended up getting
hurt the first game. Josh McCown's backup. He gets hurt
the second game. The plan for me was to NFL
red shirt. Yep, I'm thrown it as the starter of
Week three against Miami, and it was tough. My leading
receiver was Trell Pryor, who was a former quarterback, right,
So we just didn't have the pieces in play sheet
and we understood talking with Sashi Brown, who was the
quote unquote GM at the time, Paul de Podessa, guys

(12:56):
like that, we're kind of explaining to us that rookie
class of what the vision is for the next couple
of years. It's just it's tough to sit there and
be patient when you get thrown out and I'm taking
these hits. And then Joe Thomas was left tackle. Love
playing for Joe Thomas or playing with him. There's a
lot of great linemen on that team, and I don't
want to throw anybody under the bus, but it was
the definition of a rebuild and being a rookie quarterback
in that situation is tough. You just you have to

(13:18):
be patient. You've got to be there. I love that
they went out and got Mike Grabel. They bring Josh
McDaniels back as the offensive coordinator for Drake May. He
got a lot of experience a year ago. But yes,
they have to add pieces around him. But when you
have that much money to use in salary, you've got
to go out there and make big time plays for
you know what to translate to the field.

Speaker 6 (13:34):
Totally.

Speaker 4 (13:35):
Yeah. I like the Patriots.

Speaker 9 (13:36):
I like the fact that Cody you broke down that
their biggest need is from personnel. The team that I'm
going to talk about, their biggest blessing is their personnel,
their their players, And the team I'm talking about is
the Chicago Bears. The biggest question they had was from leadership.
It was from the coaching staff. Obviously, we know Ben Johnson,
we know that he's this elite play caller, but there's

(13:56):
questions about can he is instill a culture, a winning culture.
Does he have the ability to stand in front of
an NFL locker room and command that presence, command that respect. Well,
then he goes and he hires Antwan Randall.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
L who was with him in Detroit Lions. And I
don't know if you.

Speaker 9 (14:11):
Guys remember that that scene of him running down literally
like talking about the combine, Like this man was literally
running a forty yard des Look at him go just
running down a side. Look at the energy, look at
the passion. Look that's called culture. So he goes and
he brings him in and then you understand that they
have questions from the offensive line. Can they keep Caleb

(14:31):
Williams on his feet? Well, they go on. They sign
signed Dan Rochar. Now, Dan Roschar was the offensive o
lineman coach when I was in New Orleans for the
three years that we are there, we gave up the
least amount of sacks sixty five. The next was fifteen
sacks more than that. So that's how great our offensive

(14:52):
line was under Dan Rochar. They signed Dennis Allen. What
I like about the Dennis Allen defensive coordinator move and
that fit is Dennis Allen runs a very similar scheme
to what they've ran in.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
The past with Iberflus.

Speaker 9 (15:03):
He's a two high safety quarters cover two, so there's
carry over. But the playmaker, the X factor that they signed,
in my opinion, is Al Harris and if you don't
know who Al Harris is, guys, for the past five years,
Al Harris has been in Dallas.

Speaker 4 (15:17):
When he was with Dan Quinn, that.

Speaker 9 (15:19):
Dallas Cowboys defense was the best defense in the National
Football League for the past three four years that they
were there. While under Al Harris, Trayvon Diggs had a
league high eleven interceptions in twenty twenty one, his first
all pro season. In twenty twenty three, d ron Bland
had nine interceptions, another league high, and set an NFL

(15:41):
record with five pick sixes. So you imagine what that
marriage between Al Harris and those dbs over there in Chicago.

Speaker 4 (15:48):
Is going to look like.

Speaker 9 (15:49):
Jalen Johnson, Kyler Gordon, Jakwan Brisker, Kevin Byern.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
Imagine what that defense is going to be.

Speaker 9 (15:55):
So for me, it's been so intriguing to watch the
Bears and watch Ben Johnson surround himself with the caliber
of coaches that he's bringing in over there in chicag
So it's quite the contrast between the Patriots and the Bears.
So I'm so excited to see what they got going
on in Chicago.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
I like the way you flip clubbed that because it's
exactly right. The intrigue sometimes doesn't just have to come
from players being signed. I guess mine is a little
bit of both, because I'll tell a small story from
Radio Rogue. What feels like a month ago, but it
was like ten days ago during Super Bowl Week, I
sit down, I did a bunch of different stops on
Radio Row, and I sit down with the Raiders. And

(16:34):
I was not prepared in this interview for how in
depth the Raiders wanted me to go on their draft
prospects and what direction at the number six pick, Jamie,
do you think they could take somebody from the SEC?

Speaker 2 (16:45):
And I was like, WHOA, Like, we're talking to egos
chiefs here? What are we doing?

Speaker 3 (16:49):
I almost feel like now I want to answer those
question Raiders, because I spent some time thinking about how
you are the most intriguing team this offseason.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
We talked a.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
Lot last summer about how Harbaugh is going to change
the culture in LA and what he can represent in
the AFC West. This division now sent three teams to
the playoffs last offseason. I'm not saying the Raiders are
going to be a playoff team next January. What I'm
saying is that man Pete Carroll, who is a legend
amongst men at the college level and in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
He was brought in for a reason. And then the
decision for him to hire.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
Chip Kelly a couple weeks back as his offensive coordinator.
What is this team going to do at quarterback? They
have the number six pick, now could they jump up?
We're going to top quarterbacks that are going to be
working out at the combine this week.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
They have the second most cap space behind Cody.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
Kelser's New England Patriots, and they got to figure out
what they're doing with Max Crosby, who has two years
left on his deal with zero guaranteed money. And after
having that man in on set on GMFB, makes me
feel like pay that man his money. He is the
ultimate leader, the quintessential defensive line than that you have
on that roster. So I am very intrigued. And that
might be not a positive word that I'm using. It's like,

(17:55):
you guys got to do right by this head coach
that you brought in, by this potential and an offensive coordinator,
and the fact that you have a star on defense
and now you got to build, oh, by the way,
with a team and your division that is constantly in
the Super Bowl, and that is your barometer, which is
brutal if you are looking all the time, Peter at
your opponent in the Kansas City Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (18:15):
Yeah, I went through the Steelers and I said, hey,
is this where this guy ends up? This where this
guy ends up. The Raiders have a giant void at
quarterback unless you think Ada O'Connell's the guy, which I'm
not sure they do, which leads me to the question
of if you're a Stafford or a Rodgers or a Cousins,
when you see that Raiders logo, is that retirement village
last stop on the tour? Or is there a legitimate

(18:36):
chance that you can potentially compete with Sean Payton and
bow Nicks, and with Justin Herbert and Harbaugh and of
course Mahomes and Reid.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
It's a very hard division.

Speaker 6 (18:45):
It's an uphill.

Speaker 5 (18:46):
Battle, but there are a lot of veteran quarterbacks and
the carousel's going to be going around.

Speaker 6 (18:50):
Someone's going to end.

Speaker 5 (18:51):
Up in Vegas unless they draft someone like Shador or
cam Ward Man.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
And the fact that you have Pete Carroll, who feels
it could be linked to a lot of different names,
makes it all the more fun in free agency next month.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
But this week we have the NFL Combine.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
It is presented by Microsoft Copilot, where a dream that
starts small can get really, really big, and a name
that's unknown can become the future of a team. Next
is here. It's the twenty twenty five NFL Combine. It's
this Thursday through Sunday on NFL Network and streaming on
NFL Plus. As Tom Pel Sarah said this segment, guys
position groups have already started to report those workouts and

(19:25):
meetings start in the next couple of days.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
Coming up on our show, though we had seven new head.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
Coaches hired for the twenty twenty five season. You're looking
at a couple of the faces here we in we
out Which one are we going to be keeping an
eye on.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
As they enter their first off season?

Speaker 6 (19:41):
Pe shregs, Yeah, Jamie, you're wearing the shirt.

Speaker 5 (19:45):
The Titans fans should be alert and should be on
board this entire month. They have the first overall pick
and they've got some decisions to make.

Speaker 6 (19:55):
We're talking draft.

Speaker 4 (19:56):
Baby.

Speaker 6 (19:56):
We're here February twenty fourth. It's never too early.

Speaker 7 (19:59):
It's Combine week.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
Let's go send me to re stuff Fantasy Night on
this show.

Speaker 10 (20:05):
Please good mornall, Welcome back to GMFB.

Speaker 5 (20:18):
It's time for a segment we call we interer we out.

Speaker 6 (20:20):
Here's how it works.

Speaker 5 (20:22):
I say a statement and then my co hosts in
La tell me whether they agree with it or they
veheminently disagree with it. It causes great debate. And we
start with the draft. Let's take a look at the
draft order as we head into drafts season here on
NFL Network.

Speaker 6 (20:36):
Let's look at the top. It's the Titans.

Speaker 5 (20:38):
Then it's the Browns, and it's the Giants, and it's
Cody Kessler's aforementioned team.

Speaker 6 (20:42):
The Patriots.

Speaker 5 (20:44):
Then it's Cody Kessler's other aforementioned team, the Jaguars. And
we got the Raiders, the Jets, the Panthers, Mantai Teo, Saints,
and then the Bears. And then we've got Daniel Jeremiah's
latest mock draft. This was twenty twenty five's two point
zero and he actually has the top pick, being a
pass rusher Abdul Carter out of the Big Ten in

(21:07):
Penn State. Tennessee Titans first pick overall, they don't trade out,
and they take a pass rusher.

Speaker 6 (21:16):
Let's already get into it.

Speaker 7 (21:17):
Guys.

Speaker 5 (21:17):
Here is my statement and Titans, if you're watching, we
appreciate your viewership. Yes, the Titans can afford to skip
on taking a quarterback with the first overall pick. Are
we in or are we out? We will start with
our lovely co host, who is wearing a Titan switch.

Speaker 2 (21:35):
Let's do it, miss Jamie or Jamie?

Speaker 5 (21:37):
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (21:38):
I don't know why. No, I'm going first. I always
go first. We in reapp.

Speaker 3 (21:43):
No, no, no, Peter's right, okay, we always. It doesn't matter
what that says. We don't pay attention to the prompter.
We look at what Damie goes first, and we canna react. Frankly,
I get so, I get so caught off guard during
We and We ott, I was I prepared for this segment.
There is an article from that I was reading on
the Tennessee and Nick Sus I like your take, Nix Sus.
It says the Tennessee Titans should call all trade partners

(22:04):
and hulking linemen.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
So yet, Peter, I am in.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
On the fact that they can afford to skip on
quarterback with the first overall pick. They can either trade
back for a team that is oh so desperate for
a quarterback or I like that passworder take and I
will pretty much take anything, Daniel Jeremiah says to the bank.
So I like the fact that they are going to
skip at least what DJ says on the number one
overall pick with quarterback trade sus, you are allowed to

(22:28):
go trade us, Jamie, No, no trade?

Speaker 4 (22:30):
Is that the person's name?

Speaker 7 (22:31):
Nexus?

Speaker 4 (22:32):
Nix sus, next us, next US. I'm with you, nix Sus.
I like it. I am totally in on this. And
the reason being is if you look.

Speaker 9 (22:38):
At this year's draft class as far as quarterbacks are concerned,
it's not like the past two draft classes. Last year
we had Caleb Williams, we had Jaden Daniels, Boone Nicks,
Drake Made. The year before that, we had Bryce Young, CJ.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
Stroud.

Speaker 9 (22:50):
This isn't that type of year. And your right side
of your O line needs some help. So there's some
good offensive linemen that you could draft number one overall.
Because I don't know if you watched the Super Bowl,
but the Philadelphia Egos were able to just torture our
offensive line, which four guys, So if you don't want
you could.

Speaker 4 (23:06):
Have a future Hall of Famer at quarterback.

Speaker 9 (23:08):
But if you don't have the ability to keep him
on his feet, it don't matter who's back there.

Speaker 4 (23:12):
He's not going to be He's not going to do anything.

Speaker 9 (23:14):
So I will I'm totally on this up people.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
What's up? Strikes?

Speaker 5 (23:17):
They took an offensive lineman in the first round of
the top ten last year, they did it the year
before with Scoronsky. They're not taking offensive line So the
question is do you take a pass rusher.

Speaker 6 (23:26):
And then and then you got Will Levis?

Speaker 5 (23:29):
You're taking a right tackle first overall, that's not happening.
So let's reinsest this from you. Could you pass on
a quarterback? Could you roll with Will Levis? Or go
with a free agent quarterback? Is that how you look
at it.

Speaker 4 (23:38):
I'm not saying you roll with Will Levis.

Speaker 9 (23:40):
I'm saying there's a lot of free agents out there
right now at the quarterback position that will be a
better fit for your for your program. I'm just saying
with the first overall pick, I don't think there's a
first overall pick caliber quarterback in this draft class. There's
nobody that I could look at that say a camera
or should There's nobody that I can look at it
say you're my franchise quarterback if I am the Tennessee Titans.

(24:02):
I do love Abdull Carter. I saw him just torture
my Notre Dame fighting Irish with only one arm. He
had a right shouldered injury. And this guy was still
getting pressure. He's still making plays and I think in
the first series he had like three out of the
four tackles out of that first series. So I really
like Abduall Carter in this regard.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
Okay, Cody, here comes your first test. If you go
all in three across the table, then Kyle Branton's usually
here throws this pen at the camera.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
So are you going to go three? And oh on
the are you in on this?

Speaker 3 (24:29):
No?

Speaker 7 (24:29):
I wow, disagree on this one. I'm going to go out.

Speaker 8 (24:31):
And maybe because I'm a quarterback, I'm a little biased
on this question here, Peter, but I think they take
a quarterback, and I agree with Manta I think Abduall
Carter is a very good football player. He's a red
dot player when we're on offense, right, Mantinos, When you
get in the film room, you put the red laser
pointer on a the coach does and says, Hey, this
guy can disrupt a game plan like an Aaron Donald, right,
like TJ.

Speaker 7 (24:49):
Watt on the edge. I think Abdul Carter is that
caliber of a player.

Speaker 8 (24:53):
But the reason that I think the Titans go quarterback
is because of their new head coach, Brian Callahan.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
Right.

Speaker 8 (24:57):
What he's been able to do the last five years
is the offensive coordinator for the Bengals with Joe Burrow,
and his development has been very impressed. He took Joe Burrow,
who had two injuries during that time, right, who one
comeback player of the Year, who had to overcome adversity,
and he allowed him to become the quarterback that.

Speaker 7 (25:12):
He is today.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
Right.

Speaker 8 (25:13):
And Zach Taylor was a big part of that in
the pieces around him. But Brian Callahan was instrumental in
Joe Burrow's success. I think if he goes out and
the guy I'm taking to be more upfront is cam Or,
I would go out and take cam Ord.

Speaker 7 (25:24):
I think his arm talent is off the charts.

Speaker 8 (25:26):
I think he can make every throw that you can
ask him to make from a platform, right from throwing sidearms,
getting over the top with without getting his feet involved.
There's a throw in the Bowl game where he's standing
flat footed and just flicks it to the back of
the end zone. He just has that natural thrower ability
which is very impressive. He just needs to learn when
to play hero Ball and when not to when to
be Superman, and when it's okay to be Clark Kent,
and I think Brian Callahan can help him do that.

Speaker 4 (25:48):
Right.

Speaker 7 (25:48):
But if I was to say that I'm in on
that and that.

Speaker 8 (25:51):
They don't go that route and they go free agency,
like Manti said, fifty million in cap space, they could
go out and get a bridge quarterback if they want
to take some time and then maybe wait till later
drafts to find their rookie quarterback or their future franchise player.
But yeah, I'm disagreeing on this on I'm going to
go out and I think they take Camboy.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
I like it.

Speaker 5 (26:07):
I love that Cody's talking quarterback play because here he
is a great USC quarterback and the guy that succeeded
him might be a free agent. I look at Sam
Darnold as a real possibility for Tennessee if the Vikings
let Sam Donald walk is. It's not perfect. They have
the offensive line, they have the young quarterback coach. They
have Nickoles an offensive coordinator. To me, Sam Darnald and

(26:28):
doing that on like the first day of free agency,
take all the money go, and then you get Abduall Carter.
You could have both another quarterback to watch. You mentioned Callie,
and I haven't seen this anywhere and I'm not really
as up to date on Titans dot com and the Titans.

Speaker 6 (26:40):
Reddit message boards.

Speaker 5 (26:41):
But you talk about Callahan, He's got a lot of
success with Derek Carr in his career. If the Saints
are looking to ship Derek Carr somewhere, I would think
Tennessee as a bridge quarterback situation could make sense reuniting
Brian Callahan and Derek Carr.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
But I'm with you.

Speaker 5 (26:54):
I don't think you take a quarterback first overall. If
there's all these veteran quarterbacks and there's a guy like
Abdul Carter available, Mantai.

Speaker 6 (27:01):
I'm gonna give you another whack at this.

Speaker 5 (27:03):
Because you said that you take a guard first overall.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
What do you think he.

Speaker 9 (27:06):
Might not shrikes right tackle that they need the right
side strikes.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
I know you just said they had to line the
right side. Is that I don't know?

Speaker 2 (27:14):
Maybe does ever more offendive shregs you.

Speaker 9 (27:17):
It was like a personal insult on that they have
an a line and.

Speaker 8 (27:22):
Man times the defensive guys saying take offense first, we
can give me anyway.

Speaker 9 (27:27):
I wanted to ask Cody this. I know you brought
up cam Ward and I really like him. He's my
favorite quarterback in this draft. Now, the thing about cam Ward,
and I'm really asking you because you you know this better.

Speaker 4 (27:36):
Than me, I don't know.

Speaker 9 (27:38):
With cam Ward's lack of experience under center, how that
will you know, maybe kind of hurt him or his
development in the NFL? Is that something from a quarterbacks perspective,
when you're under center compared to when you're in shotgun?
Majority of time I look back at his Washington State
highlight tape, A lot of it is shotgun. You look
at all his Miami stuff shotgun?

Speaker 4 (27:59):
So how is that?

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Before you answer this, know that you were here for
four more days and you don't have to in your
cam Ward take.

Speaker 8 (28:05):
Right now, I'll tell you right now just a little
preview for later on this episode tomorrow, we are going
to talk a lot more about quarterbacks and where I
found that. But I do I will say what I
agree with is. I do think cam Ward is the
first quarterback in this draft. I think he's a very
good player. Even before Washington State, I'll razy when he
went to Incarnate word right and they were a shotgun
pretty much ninety nine point nine percent of the time
goes to Washington State.

Speaker 4 (28:25):
Same thing.

Speaker 8 (28:26):
I think if we're talking maybe five, six, seven years ago,
mantid that makes a little bit more sense. In today's
era of the NFL. There's not a ton of under centered.
They're getting away from that pos style type of offense, right.
And then Brian Callahan when you see him back in Cincinnati,
the same thing.

Speaker 7 (28:39):
There's a lot of shotgun right.

Speaker 8 (28:40):
It's a lot of situational football. But I don't think
it's going to hurt him too much. I think where
teams really excel, especially with the number one overall pick,
is when they tailor their team to the quarterback that
they just brought in. Instead of bringing a guy in
and saying, all right, you better fit in our scheme
or it's not going to work. Right, it's just a
lose lose in that situation. You just got to be
able to if you're going to bring a quarterback in
to make.

Speaker 7 (28:58):
Your offense work for him like a cam Warden.

Speaker 5 (29:00):
Sure, okay, I love this and it's going to be
all week. We're going to be talking cam Ward. We
are going to talk Shandor Sanders, we will talk Jackson Dark,
we will talk all of these guys because it is
a draft and it really starts this week at the Combine.
All right, sticking in that division, you know, the Jaguars
made a pretty splashy hire last week while our show
was off the air for a week, and it was
James Gladstone, thirty four year old as their general manager.

(29:24):
Thirty four years old, comes from the Rams organization. Take
a look at this tweet that I put out here.
This is just the facts, Hirium Gladstone. They now have
a thirty nine year old head coach and Liam Cohene
a thirty four year old GM, and James Gladstone, a
twenty nine year old offensive coordinator in Grant Newdnsky forty
two year old d C Anthony camp Campanel, and all

(29:46):
of them are in the first years in their respective roles.
So all first time, first time head coach, first time GM,
first time OC, first time DC. My statement is this,
with the hiring of a first time head coach GMOC
and DC Jacksonville. This is a little worries some with
the lack of experience and guys who have been there

(30:07):
and done that. Jamie, we start there with you as
we are a young show and we always like to
roll the dice on you. Yes, this is a really
young group.

Speaker 7 (30:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
I had never hosted a TV show before and they
hired me.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
It was great a couple of years back, and here
I am three years later.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
They can't get rid of me. I like the blind
leading the blind concept.

Speaker 7 (30:24):
Peter.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
This doesn't streuss me out at all. I guess I'm
out on this. This is their first time in these roles,
and that's a technicality because oftentimes guys like this get
hired a year or two after they will probably do
these certain jobs. And maybe these guys were available because
they were being picky, because they're good at these certain jobs.
The Liam Cohen experience has been a fascinating watch. The

(30:44):
fact that he bounced between Kentucky and LA and back
to Kentucky and the Baker Mayfield experience.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
I love that hire.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
And then to go after that, I don't know the
other guys as well as Shregs does.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
But this doesn't worry me at all.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
I think if you see this team all of a
sudden take back the division and division that is ripe
for overtaking at times in the AFC South Cody, this
doesn't truss me out at all that after this first
season together, maybe, but like at this point, it's just
like roll the dice out and play with these young guys.

Speaker 7 (31:10):
Yeah, I'm in on being worried Oka. I couldn't. I
don't really know how to worry ording this one, but
I'm in on the worrisome part.

Speaker 8 (31:15):
I just yeah, I'm worrisome a little bit with the
young hires because it's just it's now, if you hire
a young head coach and Liam Cone and you surround
him with experience, maybe not as much worried, right, because
you have guys that he can learn from, that he
can lean on. But you have Udinsky first year, right,
you have Campanelli first year, and then like Peter mentioned,
you have Gladstone, who's thirty four year old general manager. Now,
the upside of that is he was with Lesneed with

(31:36):
the Rams for the last nine years. He saw some
blockbuster trades, right, He saw the Stafford the golf trade,
he saw that went down. He understands how it or
what it takes to build a Super Bowl winning roster.

Speaker 7 (31:46):
So those things all work for him.

Speaker 8 (31:47):
Just the thing for me is that if this isn't
right right, if this doesn't get them over that hump,
because they've been close before.

Speaker 4 (31:52):
We go back to Doug.

Speaker 8 (31:53):
Maron and I was on that twenty eighteen twenty eighteen team.
But before that, they go and play the Patriots in
the AFC Championship right a year away. This is our time.
We're going to take over the AFC South. Slowly, you know,
slowly regress. They go down and they go back and
kind of breeze over the.

Speaker 7 (32:06):
Urban my heart.

Speaker 8 (32:06):
But then we go to Doug Peterson, you have Trevor
Lawrence right then we see them win or go to
the playoffs and they have a chance to really take
over the AFC South again. Then they slowly digress again
and have a regression and go backwards. It's just frustrating
for all the fans out in New Ball. They want
to see it, you know, really turn the page and
take that next step. I just don't know if hiring
an all rookie staff, including your GM is going to
get him over that hump.

Speaker 4 (32:26):
I'll ask you a question.

Speaker 9 (32:28):
If they're fifty three man roster and they're all rookies,
would you be worriedsome would you?

Speaker 7 (32:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (32:34):
Of course, Yeah, So.

Speaker 4 (32:35):
That answers that's me. I'm in on that, Peter.

Speaker 9 (32:38):
I am so worrisome that these are all rookie guys
at their positions. Now, Liam Cohen, I was worried. Worries
some from his his presser when he said, dude.

Speaker 6 (32:48):
I was waiting.

Speaker 9 (32:49):
I was wried from we don't hear that, but from
the fact that there's all first year guys.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
There's no veteran presence.

Speaker 9 (32:58):
Whenever you have a first year head coach, you want
to make sure that you have somebody surrounding them that
can teach them, that can lead them to say, hey,
don't go down this path, don't make that call, don't
make this decision. Whatever it is, whether there's a head coach,
whether it's a linebacker, you want to make sure that
you have a veteran presence that kind of show him the.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
Ropes a little bit.

Speaker 9 (33:15):
So, Peter, for this subject, I am definitely a little
worrisome for the Jacksonville jag Wars.

Speaker 5 (33:21):
Yeah, it's fair, it's very it's different, and it's one
of those deals where when they got Liam Cohen from Tampa,
it is basically like, we got to give Liam the
keys because we need him to leave Tampa and being
the highest paid offensive coordinator in football and take a
risk on us, and in doing so, they gave away
a lot of the power and a lot of the
decision making. And I love that he says, you know what,
I'm not going to do what Sean McVay did and

(33:41):
hire Awaye Phillips. I'm not going to do what a
Stefanski didn't hire a Jim Schwartz.

Speaker 7 (33:46):
I'm coming in there.

Speaker 6 (33:47):
I'm hiring camp, who.

Speaker 5 (33:49):
Is one of like the fiery defensive coordinators, but as
a first year coordinator, and it's forty two, I'm hiring
Grant new Dinsky. Guys, his twenty nine nine. Grant is
twenty nine, twenty nine. And I have heard from from
various people who with him in Minnesota and they're like,
he is the brightest young offensive mine in football.

Speaker 7 (34:08):
This guy is sharp.

Speaker 6 (34:10):
He's from Doylestown, PA. Like he's football football, football. That
dude's twenty nine, twenty nine.

Speaker 5 (34:16):
And then to say, oh in gm we'll interview all
these other but we're also going to go with a
thirty four year old who when we mention his name
on NFL Network, there's not a lot of b roll
of him.

Speaker 6 (34:27):
Because he's on the road so much.

Speaker 5 (34:28):
So I think it's really interesting that the Jaguars right
this direction. I also think it's pretty cool. This is
a youth movement in Jacksonville. They've done the Urban Meyer thing,
They've done the Doug Peterson thing in liam We trust,
they're basically saying, and it's in his hands. This is
the organization and the I guess the model that he
envisioned when he left Tampa to take this job in Jacksonville.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
Good stuff, Peter.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
We love you, AFC South, all right, don't say that
we don't talk about you. Here we are day one
of the offseason. We got your back. We're going to
check in with Tom Pellisera. We are checking in with
Indianapolis after this on our show.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
It's Combine week, everybody.

Speaker 11 (35:00):
We want to know how things are feeling.

Speaker 5 (35:13):
Good Morne Football, Welcome back to GMFB. We are happy
to be joined live in Indianapolis. One of the top
in the game at what he does, and he's there
to see a lot of the top college prospects perfect
their NFL opportunities at the Combine. Tom Pelasera, Tom, we
got a little news yesterday on one.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
Of the quarterbacks.

Speaker 5 (35:33):
Set the stage on the QB's going into the Combine
and the workouts as with now just Monday, and they're
gonna be working out on Saturday, as we know.

Speaker 6 (35:41):
That's right. Pere Schadur Sanders is our Ian Rappaport reported
yesterday not planning on throwing. He is going to go
through the interview process and extension of what he did
at the East West Shrine Bowl here, but not doing
any of the on field testing, not participating in the
throwing session. That's not entirely unusual. We've seen top quarterback
prospects through the years not participate out here and save

(36:01):
it for Pro Day. That's the direction that chadors going
to go. The other top quarterback prospect, cam Ward, who
of course initially committed to the Senior Bowl, then decided
that he was not going to go. He is expected
to be here so the first time the team will
sit down with him. Not clear yet if he is
going to throw, though, I would tell you teams are
not expecting him to. As for the rest of the quarterbacks,
I would anticipate the UC most if not all, the

(36:24):
top quarterback prospects throwing one of them. Jackson Dart from
Ole miss I got with a big chance to help
himself continue what he did at the Senior Bowl. Here
does sound like he plans to throw. So that is
one of the names we're going to be watching really
closely when those guys got out here on the field
on Saturday.

Speaker 5 (36:40):
Peter a follow up on Shador because last year Caleb
Williams didn't compete, but he actually met with all the teams,
was super present, and then on the Saturday of the
drills was there with the quarterbacks. Shador Sanders is going
to be at the.

Speaker 6 (36:52):
Combine though, and he will meet with the teams. Correct,
he is going to be here, He's going to go
through the interview process. You know, it's interesting you say that, Peter,
because then it's okay, is he going.

Speaker 4 (37:01):
To show up?

Speaker 6 (37:02):
Is he's going to be on the field during the
throwing session.

Speaker 4 (37:04):
He not.

Speaker 6 (37:04):
I had one GM say this to me yesterday. He goes,
I always believe that a guy is going to do
something when he does it. In other words, whatever the
guy says on a Tuesday when you're interviewing him, we'll
find out on the day of the event exactly what
the guy decides to do, because there's a lot of
different pressures and pushing him pulling that goes on beyond
the scenes of this thing.

Speaker 5 (37:24):
Sure, all right, So last year, Xavier Worthy stole the
show at the Combine, running the fastest forty of all time.
In recent years, we've seen Jordan Davis and Tristan Wurf's
do amazing things as big man. Who are some of
the names that you think are going to stand out
in the drills this week at the Combine.

Speaker 6 (37:40):
Let's start out with Schamar Stewart. He's an edge player
from Texas a and m absolute physical freak. I was
with him at the Senior bow when he said next
to him he is built like Jadevian Clowney. He is
a big dude. I would not be surprised if we
see Shamar Stewart put up similar numbers to the ones
that Trayvon Walker put up a few years ago that
ended with him being the number one pick. I'm not

(38:01):
saying Shamar Stewart is going to be the number one pick,
but he's a little with taller than tray Von Walker.
Fully would anticipate that Shamar Stewart could be one of
the guys who really helps himself through this process when
it comes to going through the drills and particularly the
forty yard dash. Another name I would mention, there's always
some blazers that come out of nowhere here at this event, Peter.
But Max Harston, the Kentucky cornerback, he is going to

(38:24):
be one of those guys to watch. He can absolutely fly.
Another one that really stood out at the Senior Bowl.
I spent some time around him. He's a really bright personality,
super fun guy, goes by mad Max on social media.
What we'll see if he's also fast Max when it
comes to the forty yard dash. For these dbs, Peter,
we love this.

Speaker 5 (38:39):
Kentucky has had a nice little couple of years here
putting NFL talent into the league, and we appreciate you
always being.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
There on the scene.

Speaker 6 (38:47):
I'll be joining you tomorrow. Tom So get.

Speaker 5 (38:49):
Ready and we're gonna go nuts wild on Indianapolis, folks.
And we've got all of it here, NFL Network and
NFL Plus. This is the schedule for the week. Just
leave it here an NFL network, folks.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
During the playoff run, we were paying a lot of
attention to the Eagles and the Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
But in the.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
Meantime, there were five first time head coaches hired in
this latest hiring cycle.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
So let's look at those names.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
Let's kick the can around the field here, and I
already forget who's supposed to go first.

Speaker 2 (39:20):
I think it's Peter. Peter, puts your name.

Speaker 3 (39:22):
On somebody that you find most interesting in this latest
head coaching.

Speaker 2 (39:25):
Here it's Liam Cohen.

Speaker 5 (39:26):
He took this job in Jacksonville and he burned all
the boats to Tampa and this, Yeah, what I mean
by that is he said he's.

Speaker 6 (39:33):
Coming back to Tampa.

Speaker 5 (39:34):
Agreed in principle, and then under the guides of like
the Mayflower ship, went and go met with the ownership
at Jacksonville and they said, well, we're gonna give you
this amount of money and you can basically hire whoever
you want.

Speaker 6 (39:44):
He's like, I'm sorry, Tampa, I gotta go.

Speaker 9 (39:45):
And he did.

Speaker 5 (39:46):
And it rubbed a lot of people wrong, and maybe
it was done in a clunky fashion communication wise.

Speaker 6 (39:52):
That said, he becomes the head coach of Trevor Lawrence,
who has won a.

Speaker 5 (39:57):
Playoff game before in a division.

Speaker 6 (39:59):
That is down.

Speaker 5 (40:00):
And besides, Houston really has three rebuilding team in that division,
between the Titans, the Jaguars, and of course you've got
the Texans and then the Colts. So I look at
Liam Cohen, young fresh offensive mind with a quarterback that
we thought was gonna be the best product to come
into the NFL since Andrew Luck. So let's see what
we got, and let's see if Trevor Lawrence can work

(40:21):
with them and they can make actual magic happen.

Speaker 4 (40:23):
I like that Triggs.

Speaker 9 (40:24):
I got Aaron Glenn, I know him as AG now.
I had the great experience and honor of playing for
him when he was in New Orleans.

Speaker 4 (40:32):
I was in New Orleans for three years. He was
a secondariest coach.

Speaker 9 (40:35):
I've seen this man stand up him from the whole team,
in front of the whole defensive unit and command the
respect of the guys in that room. I'm so excited
for AG and his time in New York. He used
to play at New York and I talked to Alex Anzeloni,
who everybody knows he's a little brother than me. And
Alex said, Man, if it wasn't for ag, my career
wouldn't be what it is. So that's just goes to

(40:56):
show the type of leadership that this guy has.

Speaker 4 (40:58):
I love him.

Speaker 9 (40:59):
And to top it all off, he brought my boy
Chris Banjo over from Denver, who was also with me
and New Orleans. We played together his special teams captain.

Speaker 4 (41:08):
He is now the special teams coach in New York.
So a g I'm excited for you.

Speaker 8 (41:13):
Yeah, I'm going with not a first time head coach,
but I'm going with Pete Carroll technically in that category
because he's been out of the game for a little
bit and now he's back. I'm going Pete Carroll. I'm
a USC guy. I'm always going to root for Pete Carroll.
I'm excited to see what he's going to do in
Las Vegas. Obviously, Jamie talked about this earlier. I think
the biggest question is who's going to be under center.
Are they going to go out and find someone in
free agency? Are they going to are we going to
start the Russell Wilson talks already this early in the offseason.

Speaker 4 (41:33):
Is he going to show up in Las Vegas?

Speaker 8 (41:35):
But either way, I love the move because you know,
in that division, like you talked about, it is a
lot of veteran coaches in there. You got Champayne, you
got Andy Reed, you got Jim Harball. They go out
and play chess.

Speaker 7 (41:44):
Get Pete Carroll speaking and Pete with these coaches. But
if I'm going with.

Speaker 8 (41:47):
A new faced, new head coach, another guy that I'm
very excited about is Kellen Moore with the Saints.

Speaker 3 (41:50):
Okay, all right, that is that's the opposite end of
the spectrum in terms of Kellen Moore arriving in New Orleans.

Speaker 2 (41:55):
I like the fact that we got Pete.

Speaker 3 (41:56):
Carroll on this list, and I like the fact that
Peter the Liam Cohen experience. To your point, I feel
like we just didn't give that whole situation enough time.

Speaker 2 (42:03):
In jan Was this.

Speaker 3 (42:05):
Maybe a top three most awkward handling of just from
an outsider's perspective, the public perception of how this thing
went down looked really looked really strange.

Speaker 6 (42:15):
Yeah, it happened on a Friday afternoon.

Speaker 5 (42:17):
That's why it was kind of like you know, five
thirty news dump almost that he took that job, but
he went missing for twelve hours didn't talk to Tampa,
didn't communicate with Tampa, and then eventually resurfaced and he
was with Jacksonville. So it was a little clumsy, but
when you get an opportunity to be one of the
thirty two head coaches, you can't spite the guy. Yeah,
maybe the communication could have been a little bit.

Speaker 3 (42:35):
Better though, Sure, But to your point, to go from
Baker to Trevor, it's a gift of quarterback whiches, if
you will. Leaven Collen, congratulations and everybody else's got that
new head coaching higher.

Speaker 2 (42:46):
We're in the headset next season.

Speaker 3 (42:47):
We're going to talk about you a lot on GMFB.

Speaker 2 (42:49):
Cody Kessler here with us this week. Everybody, well, very
back
