Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good Morning Football.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Hey, everybody, this is Good Morning Football.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
We are brought to you by Old Trapper Beef Turkey
Live in LA in New York.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
It's Monday, December sixteenth.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
This is Akbar Bars should be a miller here, Schrager,
Kyle Brant, Isaiah standback, Jamie Art All. Welcome in, everybody,
It's Monday.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
My goodness. It's not that that.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
More teams have permanently solidified their playoff spot. It's just
that the picture became a lot clear, a little bit more.
Maybe not twenty twenty quite yet, but like twenty fifty
if you will. Guys, we're starting to zoom in a
little bit and hone in. But man, there was a
game yesterday and I'm not saying what time slot it
was played in that we need to talk about. Kyle,
do the honors please, But you dealer's choice. What game
(01:02):
you want to take us to?
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Well, we usually will break it in opera convention.
Speaker 5 (01:05):
We usually do the Sunday night game and we will
go to Green Bay, Seattle. But if I can give
you literally ninety points and one thousand yards of offense.
We're going to do Dealer's choice and we're going to
the Great Michigan. My friends go with the Bills and
the Lions. Was this a good game? I know it's
really entertaining, but let's get into it. Rematch SERVI yes,
(01:26):
Now let's get to the money quarter.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Twelve minutes left.
Speaker 5 (01:29):
Campbell says, on side kick it down ten with twelve minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
That's a great looking on side kick. Matt Collins, he
keeps making plays. Is he gonna score? No?
Speaker 5 (01:39):
And he was so mad they didn't score, but he
one hands the hop and the next play, literally.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
The next play, this happens. This is Ray Davis. It's
just casual. Great catch. Alan ran for two through for two.
Speaker 5 (01:52):
After the kick is a one play touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
We're gonna get.
Speaker 5 (01:56):
Into that shortly that Troy can never catch up forty
eight forty two. They still got to within six, but
we have an eleven and three at twelve two team.
We have ninety points and a thousand yards of offense
and one clear cut MVP.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Let's go after the game. Let's see who we have
talking about this one. I bet it's Josh Allen, but
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (02:15):
Let's find out, just trying to find ways to win
and you know this is gonna help us in the
long run. But still a lot of a lot of
things that we can learn from this game. Take away
Still offensively, I think we got to we need to
find some more and there's too many plays we left
out there. So I know it's it's to nitpick a
game like that where you score forty eight sounds kind
of dumb, But still feel like we left them out there.
Speaker 7 (02:36):
Man.
Speaker 8 (02:36):
I just feel like we didn't play at the same
level that that team did today. That's how I feel,
and that's why, honestly, I put this on me.
Speaker 5 (02:44):
Man.
Speaker 7 (02:44):
I just didn't feel like I had them ready to go,
not like we've been.
Speaker 8 (02:47):
You get away with maybe if you're not quite all
the way to attend, but not against the Buffalo Bills,
Kansas City Chiefs, or Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Phil whoever,
you know, whoever they are, it's not gonna be good enough.
And it wasn't good enough today.
Speaker 9 (03:04):
All right, Let's start off with the AFC playoff picture.
We're gonna get to the Chiefs in just a bit,
but they gotta win. So they're two games ahead in
the standings. But the Bills beat the Chiefs. So there's
a one game cushion, not really a two game cushion.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
But the Bills obviously clinch our division.
Speaker 9 (03:18):
Bills their next two games, folks, they got the Jets,
they got the Patriots, and they got the Patriots's let's
chalk that up if we need to. Okay, so fourteen
and three, it sounds like fourteen and three. Can the
Chiefs get to fifteen? That's the question because fourteen, if
they're both at fourteen, it goes to the Bills.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
So for the second time this season, the Bills have
snapped a multi game win streak for a team ten
games straight, ten plus for either one of these teams.
They did it against the Chiefs. Now they done it
against the Lions. Bills look great. They score a lot
of points, Peter, They're giving up a lot of points.
Let's just say it's been very entertaining to watch Buffalo
the last.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Couple of weeks.
Speaker 9 (03:53):
Their offense is a locomotive right now, and it's peaking
at the right time. I'm watching this game and I'm thinking, Okay,
is there a defense in the league that can even
stop this?
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Because last week.
Speaker 9 (04:03):
They lost but the Rams still give up forty two points.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Josh Allen is Superman.
Speaker 9 (04:09):
Right now, and I want us to appreciate what he's
doing now. He's getting better as the weeks are going on.
Speaker 7 (04:15):
He is your MVP.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
We made a faint attempt and a good.
Speaker 9 (04:19):
Effort back when the Eagles beat the Rams on a
Sunday night and say one at three unders scrimmage yards
to say this could be sat Quan's ord.
Speaker 7 (04:25):
It's not.
Speaker 9 (04:25):
It's Josh Allen. It's over, it's done. Put it in bed.
We'll see at NFL Honors all We won't because you'll
be preparing for the super Bowl in two days.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Alan. In addition to all.
Speaker 9 (04:34):
The fourteen total touchdowns the last three games, guys, he's
only thrown five interceptions the whole season.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
He's been great with the ball.
Speaker 9 (04:40):
Last night was a.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Masterpiece.
Speaker 9 (04:43):
The two handed touch pass that was taken back. All
the stuff was great. I looked at the athletic this morning.
I give a read to them every Monday morning. I
ought to go around Tdy Johnson in the locker room.
He's mythical Dawson Knox. I'm simply a fan, and yet
I go back to July I go back to July
on this show and I was throwing a hysterical fit
(05:04):
that Patrick Mahomes wasn't voted the number one player on
the NFL Top I remember on Hysterical Mahomes was voted
fourth or third and Tyreek Hill was one, and I
thought that was the most ludicrous thing in the world.
Do you know where Josh Allen finished this year in
the top one hundred from the NFL network's top one
hundred players.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
We didn't even include him in the top ten.
Speaker 9 (05:23):
I say, we the NFL players vote on it, but
we had a network too put it on and there
wasn't hysteria, there wasn't mass outrage. I'm through a fit,
through a fit when Mahomes.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Was given the indignity of number four. Josh Allen was
voted number twelve this year.
Speaker 9 (05:37):
Going in so don't act like this, says, oh, well,
this was the prince to be promised and Josh, what
we're seeing right now is not only a historic season
from Josh Allen as a quarterback for the Buffalo Bills.
No Bills quarterback has ever done this, but it's also
one that is slightly unexpected, and he has taken the
League by storm, and this happens to be the same
year where he lost Stefon Diggs and lost Gabe Davis.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
And I believe it is a audition by subtraction.
Speaker 9 (06:01):
The way he's playing so free and the way that
so many people are eating on that film.
Speaker 10 (06:05):
Mmmm, Peter, you said, appreciate I appreciated it. It was
so great to watch to see how he just dismantled
the Lions. I mean, this is the Lions we're talking about, like,
and to watch him just kind of go through and
extend plays with his legs. But more importantly, I thought
Joe Brady did an amazing job with his play calling
(06:26):
and the way he attacked this defense.
Speaker 7 (06:28):
He came out them.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Fast and often.
Speaker 10 (06:30):
There was no stopping this team, and especially when you
combine that with the run game as well, if you
think about Cook. But more importantly, you know, with Cook,
he did his thing on the ground, but Tyd Johnson
was able to go out there, and the way they
utilize him against the linebackers and matched him up. They
kept exposing that and that led to a lot of
(06:50):
big plays for the Buffalo Bills. They got out so
fast and scoring it just threw the defense off e
excuse me, the game plan off for the Detroit Lions.
They really weren't able to really kind of get in there,
like they had to say, you know.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
What, we can't catch up to this. It became a problem.
Speaker 10 (07:06):
Now towards the back end of it, of course they
started to score, but early when those first three drives came,
they came out strong. Ty Johnson, I just have to
give him his credit because even he didn't have a
scoring touchdown, but when you watch the way he created
the mismatches, especially when they threw them out in the
motion and match them up on linebackers, they were chilling
the Detroit lines defense.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
You mentioned James Cook, He's got thirteen rushing touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Just technical question. Does it hurt when someone.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
Pulls on your dreads and you're playing, because like you
have to go, I know, right, Like I saw that highlight.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
I saw that it I was like I have to ask,
I say about that.
Speaker 11 (07:38):
Yeah, long hair, don't hair crew? Absolutely, ye do that. No,
don't do that, don't do that. But it's okay, he's
still he's still scared business. He got got in the
in and that's all it really matters. But you know,
I'm glad that you hit on Augbar. This offense is
absolutely insane. And I like to talk about the Double
J crew, and the Double J crew is Josh Allen
and Joe Brady.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
These two dudes.
Speaker 11 (07:56):
Have chemistry and it doesn't get enough attention between a
quarterback and an offensive coordinator. When these two are in
are in sync, is going to be problems and it's
gonna be a problem for opposing defenses, especially the Detroit Lions.
These guys were unable to stop anything these guys had
going on. Just in case you guys didn't know, Joe
Brady as an offensive coordinator, the last eight games has
put up over thirty points.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Did you guys hear what I saying?
Speaker 11 (08:18):
Over the thirty points from eight straight games. The last
two games, these guys have scored over forty points. This
is the NFL, y'all. This is not college, This is
in high school. This is in your innermural flag football league.
This is the NFL. The best players in the world,
and these guys are putting up statistics like this. Last
night against Detroit Lions, Josh Allen found nine different receivers.
How do you stop an offense when you don't know
(08:40):
where the ball's going next. It's not about what personnel
they have was there, Marie Cooper, did you guys hear
Omari Cooper?
Speaker 6 (08:46):
No?
Speaker 7 (08:46):
I didn't hear that name at all. Yesterday. These guys
got the ball to nine.
Speaker 11 (08:49):
Different players, and the running back was the leading rusher
and a running back was the leading receiver. I don't
know how you approach this as a defense, but these
guys just find ways and make you look all over
the place and somebody's going to be the next guy
that steps up.
Speaker 7 (09:02):
Who do you focus on? I don't know.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Hell with the Ty Johnson you're talking about, yeah, receiver.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
I gotta say for the Lions fans out there who
are probably a little shell shocked and a little nauselust,
they have a ridiculous amount of injuries on their defense.
I was going to show you a list of it.
We can't even fit them all on the screen. At
the same point, it's getting worse. This Aaron Glenn defensive
that had so much swagger and so much dominance is really, really,
really hurting. But I would say the biggest compliment and
the biggest tribute we can give Josh Allen is none
(09:29):
of the stats and none of the historical perspective, It
is the fact that Dan Campbell looked from across the
sideline yesterday and said, on side kick.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
It, yep, on side kick, talk about it, tent with
twelve minutes left to go.
Speaker 5 (09:40):
A really ludicrous decision. Understand, down ten, twelve minutes to go,
you go with an on site kick. Now this happens
with Mac collinsy makes a great play. But Romo was
saying this on the broadcast. You guys understand, it's a
seven percent chance you get it seven and it.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Has to be announce can't even surprise them.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
There's no surprise factor. You have to let them know
you're doing it. So Dan Campbell looked up and said,
I'll take the seven percent chance as a better outcome
than trying to stop the Josh Allen offense right now, which.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Is crazy crazy.
Speaker 5 (10:10):
And by the way, it was a beautiful onside kid
from Jake Paate. You don't get a better third bounce
from that, and they still need to come close to
getting it, and then you go look a bit later,
the Lions again had a chance down ten and the
fourth quard and didn't do it. It was so strange,
and that to me is a quarterback and an offense
with the Bills that is in the other teams coaches heads.
They're like, we have to try something that literally doesn't
(10:30):
make any sense at all, and then not try it again.
We're chasing ourselves. We're trying to stop Jordan. We're trying
to keep him under thirty. You're not going to keep
him under thirty. The crazy thing is in Peter brought
this up. You go back to August the story, the
number one through number five stories for the Buffalo Bills.
This is a rebuilding year that's out there. Josh Allen's
the most overrated player in the NFL that's out there.
They got nothing in the huddle. Gabe Davis is gone,
(10:52):
Steph Diggs has gone. Understand this, This is not only
the best offense in the league right now. It is
not only the best offense Josh Allen has ever had.
It is one of the best offenses in NFL history.
The list of teams to go eight straight games with
thirty plus the Warner Rams, the Peyton Broncos, the Prime
Brady Pats, and the Allen Bills. They're in a historically
(11:15):
good team. They have not allowed a sack in four
straight games. He just had the most passing yards outside
the pocket in three years. Josh Allen and the first
quarterback ever in fantasy football to go back to back.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Forty point games. It's history. It's not only.
Speaker 5 (11:32):
Breaking records and running up the win total, it's making
good coaches on the other side do idiotic, inexplicable things
that even veteran broadcasters are tongue tiping what they're they're
onside kicking it.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
That's the level of this team.
Speaker 5 (11:44):
And the crazy part is, we'll put a button on this.
Eight plus games with thirty plus points. The Kansas City
Chiefs all season have zero games with over thirty points.
Can we get to this game in January?
Speaker 7 (11:56):
Can we do it?
Speaker 5 (11:56):
Can we get Mahomes healthy, Let's get them rested, and
let's do it. Because this Bills team is insane.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Their offense look great for people four guys on this
show straight and everybody watching them. Yesterday, Bill's offense looked great. However,
just to level set for a beat also two straight
games of allowing forty plus points, like, let's just like
lock some things in in terms of the Bills, because
even if you have to go to Kansas City or
host a playoff game. Your defense has to get right,
sam could be said about the Lions. Let's check in
(12:22):
with Ian Rappaport. He's our NFL league insider assigned to
us this morning.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
Rap sheeet. Good morning to you. Brutal day for a
lot of teams yesterday.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
In terms of the stars, guys that they rely on
down the stretch, that's right.
Speaker 12 (12:34):
We'll start with the biggest of them all. Patrick Mahomes
is believed to have suffered high ankle spring in yesterday's game.
Obviously exited the game. Carson Wentz finished out a relatively
easy win for the Kida City Chiefs. You watch that
hit high low, the amount of paintings in him limping off,
none of it is good. That said, it does not
appear based on the initial diagnosis, that this is a
(12:57):
dire situation. Yes, I said the words Hyako Springton.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
That is the fear. Patrick Mahomes gonna have more tests.
Speaker 12 (13:02):
Today, X raysaive. He has considered week to week if
this is the same Homes that had a somewhat similar
high ankle sprain around the playoffs a couple of years
back and then ended up playing.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
His body has just built different.
Speaker 12 (13:15):
I know people say it, but it actually is, so
we will see what his status is. The fact that
he has a Saturday game and then a Christmas game
does complicate things for TJ. Watt and the Steelers. It's
the timing is similar. Different injury, but the timing is similar.
He is believed to have suffered a low ankle sprain,
much less significant, much less severe, basically.
Speaker 7 (13:35):
As TJ.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Watt told reporters, he rolled his ankle.
Speaker 12 (13:38):
He has the Ravens on Saturday, so a little bit
of a shorter week, then also plays on Christmas, so
we'll see if TJ.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Watt is able to be out there.
Speaker 12 (13:45):
I would say for both of these guys, injuries not
long term, so probably good for the playoffs at least.
And then for Geno Smith last night, you guys saw
it. It was the Edger and Cooper hit right there. He
said on the broadcast. It was not a penalty because
his feeware implanted. Doesn't seem like Gino feels any better
about it there.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Mike McDonald the head coach.
Speaker 12 (14:04):
So there's nothing structural right now, clearly a lot of pain.
Gino Smith could have more tests today to determine the damage.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
Rap she couldn't even get to the entire Lions defensive
injury list. Like Kyle said, can't fit it on a graphic.
There's too much to discuss rap sheet. If anything change
with the Lions, we'll get right back to you. We'll
see in a little bit. Christmas is a mere nine
days away if you're sticking to the official calendar, or
you could be a little flexible with your holiday.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
The point is nine days from now, there's.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
A brilliant doubleheader coming your way. Now, those four teams
that we're going to talk about here, Chiefs, Steelers, Ravens, Texans.
They had some guys yesterday. We're really looking at this
when it comes to Christmas Day, one pm Eastern. That's
your first game Chiefs in Pittsburgh four thirty pm Eastern
on Netflix, Texans hosting the Ravens. It's a Christmas Day
doubleheader on Netflix.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
We are truly looking forward to it.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Until then, we still have a lot to look back
at yesterday, Like we'll get to you Sunday night Football
Packers Seahawks. There was a long history that exists the
game of maybe didn't.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Have the juice to start that you would have.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
Wanted it to, but we did find a little bit
out more about the Packers. The reality check of the
NFC North is becoming very clear.
Speaker 7 (15:12):
Kyle.
Speaker 5 (15:14):
Let's let's get into this. Steelers Eagles. Steelers Eagles. We
talked about it. I loved it. There was action, there
was extracurriculars Aj Brown was big, there was some fighting
out there.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
I love this game. How did it end up? If
you didn't see it? How the hell are you watching
our show?
Speaker 5 (15:28):
You don't know how Eagles Steelers ended But we'll tell
you good Morning football. We had every single game and
one tonight. It's what we do on a Monday to night.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Better to tonight.
Speaker 13 (15:36):
Let's go good morning football, all right, Steelers Eagles.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
An amazing game. This would be the game of the
week any other week.
Speaker 5 (15:52):
And maybe it was Sake one was health and check
and not had big numbers.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
He's not gonna win MVP. Everybody's getting the ball.
Speaker 5 (15:58):
Syrian on the sideline and there was more Syriani sideline stuff.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
We're showing the good stuff. Let's face to face. I'll
know that.
Speaker 5 (16:05):
So the Steelers are trying to stay in this. They
had a really bad fumble from Naji. I think it
was actually right here.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
It's just nausey. It's not him.
Speaker 5 (16:11):
It's a veteran player who looks up and drops a
perfectly good pitch and went right off his hands. He
can't beat the Eagles in Philly if you make plays
like that.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
He knows it.
Speaker 5 (16:19):
Then we got some push push are already up twenty
to thirteen at this point, it wins.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
This was a Jalen Hurts type of day. It really was.
Speaker 5 (16:27):
Then this so you got this great matchup with Lane
Johnson and TJ going all night, and then if you
watch the replay of this TV is gonna hurt his ankle.
I'm not exactly sure what happened. I think it just
kind of rolls over. He didn't get rolled up, he
didn't get blasted by some second guy who came in.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
But he's he's got dealing with.
Speaker 5 (16:42):
An ankle now, and we got this Christmas Day game
coming up, We got another game coming up. They really
need him. Twenty seven to thirteen.
Speaker 9 (16:48):
Now, they had the ball with like seven minutes left,
pitch word never.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
Got it back.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
And there's the head coach of the Eagles escorting Nick
Sirianni right there on the field, and there's Mike Tomlin
and it's twenty seven to thirteen.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Our Eagles producers like.
Speaker 5 (17:00):
That one twenty seven thirteen, Eagles twelve and two, twelve
and two.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
They don't lose. They've won ten games in a row.
Speaker 5 (17:06):
And afterwards, Jalen Hurts decided to sit down and have
a little clap back, as they called to the media.
Speaker 14 (17:13):
So that's what I want to see. Huh, there's still
some stuff that we can clean up and get better at,
you know, because it wasn't perfect, it was definitely moving
in a good direction.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
You had that celebration with Jalen after the touchdown. Was
that kind of a good way to show people like that?
For sure?
Speaker 7 (17:29):
For sure?
Speaker 2 (17:29):
For sure that was like that was our moment to
tell everybody to shut up.
Speaker 14 (17:33):
The grass would be green where you watered. You know,
we decided to water it. We kind of saw the
fruits of our labor.
Speaker 7 (17:39):
You know.
Speaker 14 (17:39):
We want to just continue to be well rounded, push
to be well rounded in water all areas of our yard.
Speaker 9 (17:46):
Okay, let's take a look at the playoff picture. You
saw the Lions lost at home, which puts them twelve
into puts the Eagles twelve and two. I want to
look at that third column, the Vikings play tonight. They
when they'll be twelve and two. The Vikings actually control
their own destiny, like it if.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
They went out, they're the one seed.
Speaker 9 (18:02):
If the Lions drop one and the Eagle keep winning,
the Eagles are the one seat. The Lions, of course
right now currently hold it, but it means nothing until
week eighteen.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Jamie at all, I love.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
That quote from Jalen Hurts after that game that the
grass is only greener where you water it well. The
Eagles in the fourth quarter of that game didn't allot
of Steelers to water anything.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
That final drive for.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
The Eagles took ten and a half minutes. It was
pure beautiful execution. It was it was foot on a
jugular type of thing to end that game in Philadelphia.
Steelers haven't won in Philly since nineteen sixty five, and
it didn't happen yesterday.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
Peter, would you like about this game?
Speaker 9 (18:36):
You know, Philly, as we're watching Detroit and Buffalo.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
And we're doing the huho.
Speaker 9 (18:42):
Philly will just beat the crap at you and they're
gonna get you in a in a phone booth and
they're gonna punch.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
You in the face. And I'm like, now, try to
leave the phone booth. You can't. That's how they win.
And it's like, what's the phone?
Speaker 7 (18:51):
The phone after reading the.
Speaker 9 (18:54):
Yellow Pages, this is like the toughest team inside the Steelers.
You're talking Cam Hayward and TJ.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Watt and all those big boys and Hi and they
just beat them up yesterday. And I don't want to
get twisted.
Speaker 9 (19:06):
This was a very close game at one point, and
Cooper Dejan had a bad fumble, Hurts made a mistake
early and like the Eagles were able to dig out
of it. But this whole us against I can't really
get around this hole.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
It's us against the world thing.
Speaker 9 (19:17):
Like AJ Brown, you're the one who said what you
said last week, and then Brandon Graham is a teammate
of viewers. He's the one who made it a national story.
We the media didn't do anything. And then just as
we want to do the whole it's us against the world,
we're gonna galvanize.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
What's the clip we have this morning?
Speaker 9 (19:33):
This is clip Hurt the defencsive line.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
Coach and Nick Sirianni.
Speaker 9 (19:36):
Sirianni wanted to talk to Jalen Carter and Dom's involved
and like keep your distance coach, like we're good. Those
are two coaches having words like we're not the ones.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Doing this, Philly, like this isn't us.
Speaker 9 (19:48):
We're not the ones who are who are making this happen,
Like the cameras caught it. But there's gonna be more
questions on that, and that's gonna be a story this week, and.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
Maybe that feeds and fields.
Speaker 9 (19:58):
But like, I like this Eagles team a lot because
they play a different style than the rest of these
you know, Star Wars teams that just throw the ball
up in the air, and I think that really works
in January.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
I'm not sure I can do.
Speaker 9 (20:08):
The whole it's us against the world thing because I'm
watching it in real time that there definitely seems to
be some sort of inner fire and conflict during these
games and after these games, and then maybe they use
that to motivate. So I don't know, let's see what
happens with that story with Sirianni and a great defensive
line coach. Because I didn't make that happen, and I
know my colleagues on the show didn't.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Necessarily I didn't do it.
Speaker 11 (20:29):
Yeah, I know I didn't do it either. Peter, I
love in the phone booth reference. It's like rock them
soccerm Right, you talk about the Philadelphia the Philadelphia Eagles,
they're like that one friend, that's that's that's at the
school yard, and no matter where one frame wants to
fight like they're they're ready for it.
Speaker 7 (20:44):
Right.
Speaker 11 (20:44):
It doesn't matter if you want to go to school yard,
and matter if you want to go to the gym.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
The cafeteria.
Speaker 11 (20:47):
These guys will fight you wherever and however you want
to get down. And that's the thing about the Philadelphia Eagles.
You don't know what what the phase of the game,
they're going to dominate it. So it doesn't matter if
it's a defense, doesn't matter if it's in the trenches
with the big fellas, right, big Landing Johnson.
Speaker 7 (21:02):
But big Jordan, my my life.
Speaker 11 (21:09):
These guys can get These guys can get down. So
these got the big fellas in the middle. They obviously
have things in the running game with Jalen Hurts and
and Saquon Barkley if they want to hit on that.
In the passing game, they can get after you as well.
Speaker 7 (21:19):
They had two one hundred yard receivers.
Speaker 11 (21:21):
Yesterday, So you just don't know how these guys are
gonna get how these guys a gonna beat you. But
you do know that they're gonna be competitive. It doesn't
matter what phase it is. They're gonna get after you.
They're gonna get with you. And I love that about them,
but you have to hate it at the same time
because of what you do. Guys just alluded to on
the sideline, there's always gonna be something that they give you,
something that may take them out. It is hardly ever
gonna be the opponent.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Isaiah, Isaiah, is that good though?
Speaker 9 (21:44):
Like, tell me take it to that good? That tension,
because it seems like they feed off it.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
I don't know it was working for them, right.
Speaker 11 (21:51):
I mean, I think from the outside looking in and
even in the locker room, you would think that that's
something that's negative. But I have been on a team
that's been very successful. Back when I was playing with
early Dallas Cowboys and back with Jason Garrett and Coach
Phillips run the same squad. Coach Phillips was a defensive
mind the gat Coach Garrett was an offensive guy obviously,
and they used to be at times as well. But
guess what, it turned out pretty well because we were
thirteen and three. So sometimes some locker rooms it just works.
(22:13):
It's just from the outside looking in, it looks just
a bad look.
Speaker 10 (22:16):
It just looks like it looks it looks bad, but
it's not bad.
Speaker 7 (22:18):
Look.
Speaker 10 (22:19):
I grew up in the Nigerian household, and any Nigerian family,
you see when we talked, we talked and we talked
fit with the eyes on our face and you think,
oh my gosh, they're mad at each other. I remember
when my wife first came into this Nigerian household and
she goes, oh my gosh, everybody's mad at each other. No,
it's just the way we communicate. That's the way it is.
On the sideline, it's just animated. You see the coach
getting up there. But you know they take all of
(22:40):
that and they use it as gas, as energy to
feed this team. And the way they did it, they
did it in a way where you saw Aj last
week call it out he had. That was accountability. What
we talked about. I said it last week as much too.
I said this was accountability. If I were the Steelers,
I would be like, oh yeah, they're gonna throw the
ball this game. They throwing the ball and that's exactly
(23:02):
what they did. This is their second best performance when
you talk about their past second best passing performance.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
But take a look at the numbers.
Speaker 10 (23:09):
Jalen Hurst said, you know what, I am going to
make sure that I equally district.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Their numbers are identical. These guys are identical.
Speaker 10 (23:16):
Twins, get a gun commercial or something. Look at these guys.
I mean, one hundred and ten, one o nine. I
thought it was outstanding. Those guys were winning their matchups
no matter what I mean. You'd appreciate the work that
they were putting. They were getting physical. Porter You saw
Brown being poured off the whole lot. I know I
was over there thinking I was a wide receiver too,
because I love the handgame that they were doing it.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
But they were getting physical.
Speaker 10 (23:38):
You saw one, you saw the cover one, no problem,
get your man, and they found Brown, they found Smith.
So everybody ate and when you have a well balanced
team like the Eagles, be careful, be very very careful.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
I'm very excited to see a Wrigley Spearman. Twins referenced,
that's good. Double your pleasure, double your fun, and twee you.
Now that's a.
Speaker 5 (24:01):
Much difference when I had this whole tape coming about.
You know, Saquon was out for the second quarter and
didn't put up many numbers and it's like the Eagles
can still win and everything.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
But give me the Sirianni footage again. Let's get into this.
I want to bring we do.
Speaker 5 (24:15):
Sorry Billy Siriani on this all right. So what we
have here is an assistant coach acting like a bodyguard
against the head coach who has an actual bodyguard trying
to intervene in a white hat.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
You just don't see it much. And it's like someone's
gonna get hurt here.
Speaker 5 (24:30):
And the coach's name is literally hurt. There's all kinds
of fun here. I just don't remember ever. So what
happened is Jalen Carter gets a personal foul.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
All right, don't head it play yeah, red dump penalty.
Everyone wanted to get into it.
Speaker 5 (24:42):
Head coach has the right to walk over.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
It's like I got it, bron I got it, and
my no, no, no, I've already handled it yet. But I'm
the head coach. But I handled it. Get out of
my way, coach, I run or do you run this thing?
Speaker 7 (24:55):
Listen?
Speaker 5 (24:56):
Here's my headline on all this, and this is what
should go over this image. They've won ten in a row.
No Eagles team ever has won more game games in
a row. And it's like last week we kept trying
to say, with all this aj stuff, they haven't dropped
three out of five.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
It's nine in a row last week. Now it's ten
in a row.
Speaker 5 (25:12):
So maybe that's just where we are with this Eagles
team and this Eagle staff.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
They're just like a marriage that just likes to fight.
Speaker 9 (25:19):
Right, I'm being told by a lot of folks, and
my Philly friends mentioned that, of course you showed up
to show the hug, Sirianni and Carter hugg dude, like
you got to show the hug to give full context.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
Well, so they hugged and they look at it.
Speaker 5 (25:31):
But it's kind of the point like that, some couples
just like to fight, Like you know what comes after
the fight, You know what comes after. I mean, let's
just say you come back together and you make up.
And they do this by winning by two touchdowns over
a great Steelers team. So I don't mind the fighting
as long as like that it's and that's.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
Them they're doing. This is what they are. I'm just
they're the makeup sex teams. You just to say it's
eighty one Eastern.
Speaker 5 (26:00):
I'm on the least network ippologize, but you all know
what I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
Let me get it out. That's what this team is.
And it's like you live and die by it. The
makeup giveth and it taketh away. But when it giveth oooh,
it's gonna give all the way to New Orleans. That's right, man.
Speaker 10 (26:16):
As long as it produces something after the mo up,
all right, and it better produced a child in the
name of a Super Bowl ring. So if it may,
I'm not afraid that, all right.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
This was one to be celebrated.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
Jayden Daniels returning to New Orleans, the area, the region
in which he won the Heisman for less you here,
we go, no Orlans exactly. The Saints came comment late
in this game they had a possibility for a two
point conversion.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
This was a decision, a decision.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
By interim head coach Daron Rizzy to go for it
for the win at home doesn't convert past intended for
Juwan Johnson. Saints could have run away with this one,
but instead the Commander's seal their first game winning season
for the first time since twenty sixteen.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
That's really cool for Washington.
Speaker 9 (27:06):
Yeah, good win for the from Commanders on the road.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
Here's justin Herbert.
Speaker 9 (27:09):
Chargers have lost two or three games. Can they get
right at home against the Buccaneers. Tampa gets it going.
There's some Bucks fans in the house. Mike Evans Jersey's galore.
Buccaneers go on the road in LA and win forty
to seventeen.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
I think Mike Evans is gonna win. Walt's Great manas
a year. Ooh, I have a take on the tape.
There's a couple of guys that they are gonna win.
Mike Evans is one of them.
Speaker 5 (27:28):
All right, Wagner, here's just right now. I know, Bobby Wagon,
you have a shot too. Sunday night football. This is
Seahawks Packers. The Packers were much better all.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
Night, and then you had this for the Seahawks.
Speaker 5 (27:38):
Gino gets hurt and this is legitimately serious because they're
in the playoff picture. We got Sam Howell coming in
and could not get it done. Sloppy game, but Green
Bay says, the hell with that. We came in and
punched him in the face on the first drive of
the game, which was awesome thirty to thirteen. The game
was never close. I never feel it was terribly competitive.
Seattle's a tough team to figure out.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
They still matter at eight and six. But Packers ten
and four see you next month.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
You take a look at this pilot now.
Speaker 9 (28:05):
It's more solutive fun again. Third column is the Vikings.
They play the Bears tonight. Vikings control their own destiny.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
It could still be the one seed.
Speaker 9 (28:12):
But let's look at those other gobblygook teams. There three, six, four, seven, eight,
lots of NFC teams looking.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
To get to New Orleans. We have any action here
as a set, like, what are we gonna do? It's
a great question. I mean, Jamie, what do you.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Got the control your own destiny? Teams?
Speaker 4 (28:28):
You're looking at the NFC North, You're looking at the.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
Vikings and the Alliance.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
I would assume the executives at NBC are saying, hello,
week eighteen, Sunday Night Football, we would like the NFC
North matchup to be on our air because the winner
takes all the NFC home playoff advantage.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
Here we go.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
Let's look at the NFC side of thing. The Eagles
one allons loss Vikings and Falcons still to play tonight.
Just pick apart the rest of the NFC. What stood
out to you yesterday?
Speaker 2 (28:52):
Okbar Well looking.
Speaker 10 (28:53):
At this game, the Packers and their ability to dominate
defensively and what that means for them in this playoff rush.
This is very, very exciting to watch a guy like
edrind Cooper just come off and his ball out, I
mean out of his mind. Seven tackles, a sack, two
pass breakups, two quarterback hits, an interception. He was all
(29:14):
over the place. And then on the other side too.
Then you looked at carenon Valentine. I mean, this dude
went out after they tested it one time, came back again,
and then in an interception.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
I'm like, Okay, this defense.
Speaker 10 (29:27):
Is playing with a different type of fire and different
type of love. I'm absolutely loving it.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (29:32):
I look at the Packers and they just dominated Seattle
in Seattle, and that's a good win for the Packers.
That's a horrible loss for the Seahawks, and they started
off so slow, even when Gino Smith was healthy. They
were down fourteen to nothing. And then I look at
that NFC West, this is the.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
Rams division to lose.
Speaker 9 (29:45):
Now, Rams remaining schedule at the Jets has to be
a win. Can't drop the ball there. I know that
Rogers looked good yesterday, I can't hit. And then home
against the Cardinals, who have not looked wonderful this month,
and then home against the Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
The Rams, a team that we all rode off. We
thought after that.
Speaker 9 (30:07):
Miami Monday Night loss and after the Sunday Night lost
to Philly, and of course we know they lost to
the Bears in Chicago this year. Didn't look like they
had it in the Cards. But they are now seven
and two, when Cooper Cup and Pooka Nakua are both
in the lineup and healthy, the Rams to me stand
out as one of those teams in the wildcard. If
they get there as a division winner, well, they have
a home playoff game. I don't know if I'm Philly
(30:28):
in Detroit if I would love seeing the Rams in
the second round or Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
I hit to insult Minnesota.
Speaker 9 (30:34):
I don't want to see the Rams coming to town
in the second week of the playoffs. That's not a
team I want to see the divisional round with the
Super Bowl winning quarterback and the Super Bowl winning coach.
Speaker 7 (30:42):
Peter don't you insult Minnesota.
Speaker 11 (30:43):
I do do not want to see Jamie turn into
a spider monkey up here on the set. And I'm
taking it up to Seattle up there with the NFC West.
Y'all know I'm a seatown bookie type of guy, but
I do not, and I repeat, I do not trust
Gino Smith. And I hate to say that, y'all, but
Gino Smith might be the most inconsistent quarterback in the
league right now.
Speaker 7 (31:01):
You talk about somebody who.
Speaker 11 (31:02):
Has fourteen touchdowns but thirteen interceptions, you just don't know
when they're gonna come. It's seemingly he's like the guy
that when he touches his hot stove, he's like, ooh,
that was hot. I'm gonna go right back to it now.
And we saw that yesterday in the end zone with Valentine.
Valentine almost picks off the interception in the red zone.
Speaker 7 (31:17):
It wasn't enough for Gino. Gino saying you know what,
I'm gonna give you.
Speaker 11 (31:20):
Another opportunity to here you go, mister Valentine, and he
gives it right back to him. He's putting Seattle in
a predicament where you just don't trust your quarterback. And
you cannot have the bubble guts with your quarterback in
the red zone. Gino Smith has the worst QB rating
out of any quarterback in the league in the red
zone as sixty three percent. He's only had three games
this year with one hundred percent with one hundred QB rating.
(31:41):
It's something that you just can't trust. You have to
be able to trust your guy. You can't seemly just
turn around a hand the ball off every time it's weird.
Speaker 5 (31:46):
A guy's experienced is Gino to throw red zone interceptions
more than anybody else in football?
Speaker 2 (31:50):
And now he's hurt. Seattle's in a strange spot right now.
Speaker 5 (31:53):
But I think I'm ready to say I think Tampa
is hosting a playoff game.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
Guys, we're here.
Speaker 5 (31:57):
Tampa Bay has not lost the game in six weeks.
And during this winning streak, they get picked the park
because they beat the Giants and the Panthers and the Raiders. Well,
they just absolutely destroyed the Chargers. This was a terrible,
one sided football game. Tamp At one hundred yard receiver,
one hundred yard rusher Baker through for four touchdowns. Of
the game was never close. They crushed them. The remaining schedule.
I won't even bore you with that. There's nobody who
scares you whatsoever.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
I think they're going to have a home playoff game.
Speaker 5 (32:19):
And since all of America cares so much about Mike
evans thousand yard streak, including myself, three games left, he
needs eighty five yards a game to do it in
the most improbable fashion after a major injury and miss time.
I don't listen, Peter. I agree with you don't want
to see the Rams. I don't want to see the
Bucks either. They're that team that is hot at the
right time. They have the quarterback who's been there, they
(32:39):
have the coach who's been there. The Bucks, I believe,
are going to win the South unless the Falcons just
something miraculous.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
There's nobody else's going to win that thing.
Speaker 5 (32:47):
After they bottomed out mid season, the Bucks have not
lost in six weeks, and I think they're going to
host the playoff game. It's really cool. I think it
might be on a Saturday. I'm already getting my uber
EA's order. It's gonna be pad tie this year, and
I love it.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
Kyle.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
I'm gonna swing all right back to you.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
I'm going to say something's gonna be catch sweat just
to psychoanalyze what just happened and had the NFC playoff
standings up? You said, you asked, Peter, is this thing locked?
And I said no? And I said what about the Vikings?
And you exhaled. I feel like, what are your doubts
right now with the Vikings and their inability or their
ability to go to battle with the do I heard
the exhale, Kyle, even from LA.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
To New York.
Speaker 7 (33:21):
You're very careful.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
Eleven and two.
Speaker 5 (33:23):
Yeahmie, Jamie perceiving an over microphone exhale from three thousand
miles away might indicate she's a little sensitive about the Vikings.
I probably was just rolling my eyes as something Peter said,
But if about the Vikings. No, I love the Vikings, honestly,
not a Vikings thing. What I don't love is that
we have three games left to play and it looks
like it's just set. Like I want intrigue and I
(33:45):
want bedlim in the final weeks. Seattle is one that
might present it, but we have to figure outf Gino's heard.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
I'm the Sam Howell. Seahawks don't do much for Peter.
Is there anything that's gonna flip the table, Jamie.
Speaker 9 (33:54):
They end the season with Bears tonight, Seahawks and then
Packers and Lions.
Speaker 2 (33:59):
How do you feel, as a.
Speaker 9 (34:00):
Vikings enthusias someone who has not seen a loss since
he blew the gallow horn?
Speaker 2 (34:04):
What do you feel about this Minnesota team?
Speaker 9 (34:06):
Can maybe the team that goes on a run and
represents the NFC in Lombardy Land.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
I also exhale, maybe in a different definition of it.
I don't like the backloaded pressure because everyone else. To
Kyle's point, it feels like if this thing is set
and the jockeying is no longer happening except for the
Vikings could go from five to one, Kyles or.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
No, I'm just messing with Jamie now.
Speaker 4 (34:32):
Exactly living in my head run free as the Vikings
do as well.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
I don't love the back end of pressure of the schedule.
Speaker 15 (34:38):
Lands here, good mon football.
Speaker 16 (34:50):
All the talk after the Niners lost to the Rams
was blindbacker Devondre Campbell refusing to go into the game,
leaving the field. It made everyone wonder about his future
in San Francisco. Well, now we have some news, as
NFL Network insider even Rappaport reporting the Niners plan do
suspend Campbell for three games after refusing to go into
the game, and the suspension will end the linebackers first
(35:12):
season with San Francisco. But now it is time for
this week's replay review. We take you back from an
important official review from the Colts Broncos game, and that
had playoff implications on the line Colts running back Jonathan
Taylor breaking the long run for what appeared to be
a forty one yard touchdown that could have put the
Colts up twenty to seven early in the second half.
(35:34):
It was ruled a touchdown, but replay review shows Taylor
he dropped the ball before crossing the goal line and
number one no no for running backs really anyone who's
trying to score a touchdown. The call was reversed to
a fumble and a touchback. Denver goes on to win
thirty one thirteen. Now coming out the place from week fifteen,
you need to see twice to believe you got to.
Speaker 3 (35:56):
Rewind that is next.
Speaker 9 (36:00):
Okay play of the day for me in a fake
pun of verse and oh game.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
Here we go. Dare hope bigalle, I've said it right.
I believe I'm trying ogain.
Speaker 9 (36:10):
Afore you get half on that it's one of our
favorite guys.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
He was a kicker last year multiple times.
Speaker 9 (36:16):
But just as you think these teams have shown everything
in the regular season to somebody else to think about
towards the playoffs, Frank Ross and Texan Special Teams has
it and drops at me up.
Speaker 7 (36:25):
But watch it that.
Speaker 14 (36:28):
Way.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
I love that. It's an awesome play. I love it,
Frank Ross, Texan Special Team.
Speaker 5 (36:33):
One of the things we likes to show is plays
that were called back for penalties because we don't want
them to be forgotten.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
This play will not be remembered.
Speaker 5 (36:39):
You want to point Peter, watch Josh Allen after this
chess pass to Dalton Kincaid before it's even caught.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
Ye now look at the lowe load and the points.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
And then Jim Nance with a great call about final
fours that he's called in Detroit and Chess passed the
two thousand and nine so good. Don't forget this play
because they'll be wiped away because there was a penalty
and having nothing to do with the pass.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
We remember these plays on GMFB. See you next time.
Speaker 11 (37:02):
I like the chess pass. Well, Dave well better he's
up there. Hit him with the zero and he gets
not zero, but the circle hit a circle button. Run
that thing back one more time. Everybody's played Madden. We
talk about Madden all the time.
Speaker 7 (37:12):
On this show. You receive a little swing pass, got
some open deal space.
Speaker 11 (37:15):
Circle button, hit you with the foie and he's going
to take that thing for a first down.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
All right? I like that spin here?
Speaker 7 (37:22):
How about this?
Speaker 2 (37:23):
I'm here's a different spand right here we've seen guys
get pushed toy spears, spears going all the way up
in the air.
Speaker 10 (37:31):
It was like he was being introduced to the prize
like move fusset holding up Simba, why.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
Sit to God?
Speaker 7 (37:42):
Like song? No, no, no, there you goe?
Speaker 3 (37:47):
Why is that the second time you've sang that song
in four days?
Speaker 2 (37:51):
I can't wait movie coming out waiting.
Speaker 7 (37:55):
So fired up?
Speaker 3 (37:56):
That looks like I thought it was like a trophy,
like a little kids basketball.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
It was a little bit of Michael Jordan, a little
bit of Simba being held up. Did you see him
look at camera, Dough He was like, yeah, just keep
