Speaker 1 (00:17):
Good Morning Football.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Welcome to Good Morning Football, brought to you by Old
Chapper Beef Jerky. We are live, coming to you from
our homes today. Happy Monday to you, December twenty third,
Christmas Week.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
I am Sherry Burris alongside Van Taiteo.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
That is akbar Baja Biamila, Kyle Brand and Peter Schrager.
Good day to you, guys. Man, what a night though
it was. Kyle, take us right to Dallas because that
Sunday night football game was just the perfect way to end,
at least the Sunday night.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
It was incredible. The whole weekend was incredible, guys. The
Eagles lost their first game in three months. The Chiefs
are fourteen and one, we have the first place Falcons
and yes, Bucks Cowboys was really really fun to watch
here do we go?

Speaker 4 (01:02):
All right? Welcome you, just trying to win five and
the Cowboys are eliminated.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Mich McCarthy's never played the game eliminated as a Cowboys coach.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
And they didn't play this one like it.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Ceedee Lamb, ceede Lamb at one hundred yards in the
first half of the second game in a row. And
this is absolutely incredible. They're down too under two to play.
Baker is sacked that he starts hi ning he's running
up the hills, and then he tosses into Rashad White.
It's an incredible play for the Buccaneers. Oh my god,
wait it's a fumble. Yes, the Cowboys recovered it after
Baker makes the hero play Rashad White.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
You're gonna see he is not down. The ball is
clearly out.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
That's our buddy, darn Bland from twenty twenty three who
made every single play every two seconds. And guys, the
Cowboys win twenty six to twenty four. The Bucks got
problems because the Falcons have a good rookie quarterback Peter.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
Unbelievable performance right there by the Cowboys, showing that Mike
McCarthy can still get these guys to play. But the
bigger game was earlier with the Cowboys division opponents. Hurts
versus Daniels Jalen Hurts will get hurt in this game,
meaning Kenny Pickett would have to take over and nine
though Saque says, don't worry, I got you. This would

(02:07):
be the big run for Saque. You would have a
monster day. Yet again, trying to reinsert himself in that
MVP conversation. Saquon huge run and there we go. That
is to the house that was sixty eight yards. But
Jaden wouldn't be done here twenty one to seven, Jaden
Daniels throws the deep pass touchdown. They're hanging around in

(02:28):
this one, the Commanders. We go to the fourth quarter.
Jaden Daniels down double digits at one point, now down six,
buys time, looks across, find this man.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
That is a touchdown pass la here.

Speaker 6 (02:41):
Alaminae a kiaz all.

Speaker 5 (02:43):
Right, the Eagles would get a Jake Elliott field goal,
they would take the lead. And then Jaden Daniels goes
into superhero mode, so calm, so poised, being able to
run when he has to and then hit the man
when he has to. And here across the middle, it's
a touchdown, dude. Jamison Crowder, Jamison Crowder, who's been injured

(03:04):
all season, making big play after big play in this game.
The Washington Commanders with the win of the day coming.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
All the way back.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
In this one, they beat the Kenny Pickett led Philadelphia
Eagles thirty six to thirty three. Let's hear from their
rookie leader and their franchise changer, Jaden Daniels.

Speaker 7 (03:28):
I love those type of situations. Those are when it's
on thin ice end plays need to be made. That's
what you live for if you really love the sport.
You live for those big time moments where it comes
down to the end. You know, everything that gets you
back against the wall. How do will you respond?

Speaker 8 (03:43):
Just sloppy, you know, sloppy with penalties, sloppy with too
many men on the field, sloppy.

Speaker 6 (03:48):
With our fundamentals.

Speaker 8 (03:49):
And when you play a good football team like we
played today and your sloppy, regardless of how many turnovers
you're force, it's gonna be hard to win. And I
think you know what I said to those guys is like,
when it's sloppy with every every piece of that, that's
always going to be on me as the.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Head coach Washington and handing Philly one of their first
losses in months of a ten game win streak, and
can we talk about Washington three and zero in December
for the first time since twenty twelve, Peter, there are
so many things that we could take away from this game.
But as you watch this, when we just went over
the highlight, what sends out to you most about what
we saw.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
Well, the Commanders have that awesome record you just mentioned, Sherry.
They're also ten and five for the first time since
nineteen ninety one. And I looked to their quarterback Jaden Daniels,
a superhero. That was a superhero performance. Everyone watching national game.
Jaden Daniels down five points says follow me, I got us,
takes us the whole length of the field. They go theite,

(04:45):
so poised, so calm. The numbers tell a story. I mean,
this guy through for two hundred and fifty eight yards
and five touchdowns. Of course, he also ran for eighty
one rushing yards against Philadelphia, but they did It's in
a game where they had five turnovers. They turned the
ball over five times and they still were able to win. Daniels,

(05:05):
I think solidified the Offensive Rookie of the Year award yesterday.
And I know Rock Bowers has huge, huge numbers, and
I know Brian Thomas is doing historic things, and yes,
Bo Nixon Denver is having a solid season. But to
do what Jaden Daniels just did against the division leading
Eagles when they need it so badly and the Eagles
are trying to hold on for that number one seed

(05:25):
in home field advantage. It tells you that this guy
is here, he's here to stay, and the commanders have someone.
I will say this, though the Philadelphia Eagles had a
lot of chances to put this game away. Devonte Smith
might be one of the most reliable receivers hands wise
in the league.

Speaker 9 (05:40):
When I'm watching this game and they throw him that
pass over here on an easy.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
Conversion that would have put this game away, he catches this.

Speaker 6 (05:49):
There's about three minutes left.

Speaker 9 (05:50):
He catches this ball.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
They can either run out the.

Speaker 5 (05:54):
Clock with three more plays and then kick a field goal,
or he could just go to the ends. And it's like,
these are the ones. These are the differences between now
having to go. But how about Saquon Remember you had
the big drop again Atlanta. These are key plays and
I know, Nick sirion, they mentioned penalties as well, but
two massive drops from two players that we have been
celebrating all season long.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
Big game on the road. Guess what the Eagles in
the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
The way it's looking, they're probably gonna have to go
big game on the road and they can't be as
sloppy as that. I know, I know hurts us out.

Speaker 6 (06:27):
I get it.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
I'm not trying to say that this was a perfect
situation with Picket coming in that said, there are opportunities
to win this game and keep that home field alive.

Speaker 6 (06:37):
Yeah, I love everything that you said, Peter.

Speaker 10 (06:39):
I think I think it's important for everybody to understand that, Yeah,
Jalen Hurts being out was a big had a big
impact on the game. I think one of the biggest
impacts on the game happened probably the first drive is
when Jalen Carter had that fourth down stop. The second
drive when Jalen Carter had that fourth don stop where
he stripped Brian Robinson Junior and they got the ball back.
So I'm watching this game from a defensive standpoint, and

(07:00):
I'm loving everything that I'm seeing, and I'm thinking like,
oh my gosh, I know we game balls on Monday.

Speaker 6 (07:05):
This Eagles defense.

Speaker 10 (07:07):
He had five turnovers, so you had a fourth down
stop to start the game.

Speaker 6 (07:11):
And then Jayden.

Speaker 10 (07:12):
Daniels does what he does, and I'm thinking to myself, Okay,
does he solidify himself as an offensive Rookie Player of
the Year with this performance because you.

Speaker 6 (07:21):
Saw how he took over the poise. There was no
panic in his play.

Speaker 10 (07:24):
Scary Terry came alive and he's making all of these
plays not only through the air, but he's running thirty
forty yards using his legs. It was such a beautiful
game to watch, not only from a defensive standpoint and
the dominance at the egles, but then to see how
Jade and Daniels showed his maturation phase, his maturity in
this game to really lead his team and will his

(07:47):
team to a win.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
So it was beautiful for me to see.

Speaker 10 (07:51):
I'm excited to see the future for this young quarterback
in the NFL, but to see this Eagles defense perform
the way they did, it's going to be scary heading
into the playoffs man time.

Speaker 11 (08:02):
That's what to me makes this whole thing special. With
Jayden daniels performance, I mean that five touchdowns, but you know,
overcoming that five turnovers, five turnovers for against the number
one defense in the NFL and for him to get
that victory, that's like when you go, you know, let's
nix the conversation about who's competing with Jayden Daniels for
that Rookie of the Year. But I don't want to

(08:23):
overlook the pursuit of history here and with Saquon Barkley's
performance one hundred and fifty yards on the day. One
hundred and eight yards of those were in the first quarter.
Of course, that's when you had Jalen Hurts, who's out there,
you know, as a dual threat, but Saquon Barkley, it
was kind of spectacular watch, especially in the.

Speaker 9 (08:43):
First quarter one hundred and eight yards. I know they
didn't win the game.

Speaker 11 (08:46):
I know things started to shake up for them, but
that performance, though, it's one that I think should be celebrated,
in the fact that he's he's doing something that has
been standing, getting very close forty years. Eric Dickerson's record
has been standing, and it looks like Saquon Barkley is
on pace to break that, and so I'm here for it.

Speaker 9 (09:06):
I think his name should still be in the mix
when he.

Speaker 11 (09:09):
Comes to MVP and when you think about guys who
won the MVP. And I know this is not an
MVP conversation, but I was super excited. I was hitting
r ep, I, I was hitting up Bill and I'm
just telling him he's like he had a huge drop.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
I get that.

Speaker 9 (09:24):
I understand that.

Speaker 11 (09:25):
I understand that, but you still can't deny the pursuit
of history that happens. There's a conversation there because it's
been there, it's been standing there for forty years.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Yeah, I mean it's a lot more exciting in the
first half when he's breaking those long runs and he's
looking to be a hero because the starting quarterback is out.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
It rings a little hollow for.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
The Eagles, I'm sure when they lose the game of
the last second to a rookie quarterback in an arch rival.
Here's some things that I know if you're interested in
the offensive Okay, of the year, that's over. That's over.
That's not Shade Daniels. He's putting it right next to
the Heisman.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
It's over. But next had a great year.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
Maybe he'll go and get in the playoffs and win
a playoff game.

Speaker 6 (09:56):
That thing is over. The other thing.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
I was really putting some time into this.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
I think this is the biggest Commanders win in twenty years.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
I really mean that their last playoff win was zero
five and it was.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
A wild card win and it was Mark Brunell leading
them against Chris Simms. It didn't amount to much. You
don't remember it very well. I don't either. With this stakes,
with the winning streak, they were on at this juncture
of the season at home with this quarterback. I don't
remember a bigger Commanders blash, slash whatever they call win
in twenty years from Jayden Daniel.

Speaker 4 (10:25):
It is that massive.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
They have the guy. He's going to be here, He's
not going anywhere. He was incredible at the end of
the game. And I know there's a massive part of
the Eagles who are saying our starting quarterback was out.
They didn't talk about it enough on the broadcast. They're
not talking about it enough on Good Morning Football. I
know your starting quarterback was out, and maybe he'll be
again in the game if you see these guys in
the playoffs, which you might. I also know that your defense,

(10:49):
which is the strength of this Eagles team, as good
as the offense.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
Is, it's the defense.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
They're on the field at the end of the game
against a rookie quarterback and had the chance to make
a stop and they couldn't do it. It was the
most casual game winning touchdown throw I've ever seen, and
then they just casually got the two point conversion right
after it. All Right, we may see this game again,
but I'm not hanging some giants seventy two point font
asterisks on the Commanders when their own quarterback went five

(11:15):
touchdowns and they still had five turnovers and still won.
I don't think there's been a bigger win in two
decades for this organization. You guys know, I talked to
Jadon Daniels this week when they get into it later.
Part of the conversation we had was Philly's coming. They're
coming to Washington. This is different. This is not you
playing the Giants, this is not some out of division team.
And we talked about does this feel like Georgia or
Bama when you're at LSU And he totally got it.

(11:37):
He understood the weight of the situation and he won,
and he won dramatically in the final minutes. I was
blown away by Jadon Daniels. I love the Commanders right now.
Egos were gonna lose. Eventually, they lost to a new rival,
and that is a new rival on the road.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
It's really cool.

Speaker 5 (11:51):
Yeah, And Kyle, I would add, you know, the Commanders
were nine to five going into this game. They were
zero to four against winning teams. They were zer and
four And here's what you said, which is beautiful. Philly
might have played themselves out of the one seed. They're
going to be the two seed because both the Vikings
and the Lions can't both be division winners, so they're
gonna be the two seed. There's a good chance that

(12:13):
the Commanders are the seven seed. We will see this
again if that's the matchup or a three to six.
So it's pretty exciting that it's one thing to be
this great Rookie of Year candidate doing it against teams
that are losing records, going and beating Philly and then
having another chance to do it.

Speaker 6 (12:27):
That's really cool stuff.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
And Cale, I want to piggyback off of what you
were saying. I've covered the Washington franchise at least four
plus years now. In years past, this is a game
that that fan basemen like, nope, let's just go home
third quarter. This has been a franchise, changing quarterback, bringing
in a guy like Jayden Daniels, overcoming those five interceptions.
Things are looking real pretty right now in Washington. It's

(12:48):
incredible to see what they're doing. But as you guys mentioned,
Jalen Hurst was knocked out of that game from a kincushion.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
We saw Kenny Pickett.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
So now let's bring in our NFL Network insider Eaton
Rapaport kind of taking a look around the league, getting
some more injury updates, and good morning to you. Happy Christmas,
Hanka week, talk to.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
Us, can us more injury updates? What do we know
more even about Jalen Hurts it We'll.

Speaker 12 (13:09):
Start with Jalen Hurts officially diagnosed with a concussion in
yesterday's game.

Speaker 9 (13:13):
Left the game early on.

Speaker 12 (13:14):
You could see on the sideline, was trying to get
back in, was stopped by medical experts, ended up going
into the locker room, which is a sign that a
player is not likely to return. Of course, Kenny Pickett
ended up finishing that game, certainly had his moments up
and then downs. It remains to be seen whether or
not Jalen Hurts will be able to play this week
now in the NFL's concussion protocol, so essentially it is

(13:35):
out of the Philadelphia Eagles hands. Every concussion is different,
every player and the way they respond is different. So
really the biggest side we're going to see about his
availability for this week will be does he practice Wednesday
on a limited basis. If he does, then you say
maybe Jalen Hurts.

Speaker 6 (13:50):
His progression up through the protocol.

Speaker 12 (13:52):
Then he has a chance to play Sunday against the Cowboys.
If not, then it is not looking as good for Hurts.
One of the biggest injuries of the week was Tank Dell,
the star receiver for the Houston Teens. Really one of
the bright young stars of this Texans team. You saw
it on the acrobatic touchdown catch went down when they
dislocated me, which is why players were telling them quickly,

(14:14):
don't move, because if you move, you could actually do
more damage. Stayed the night in Kansas City, then flew
back yesterday to Houston, getting incredibly good care, important care
early on in this injury. My understanding, and this is
obviously not a surprise, is that Tank Tell is unlikely
to play again this season. We will see when he
ends up having surgery, but obviously the prospects just for

(14:37):
this year are now looking good for it, Tankdell and
the Houston Texans. And then so much discussion about Kirk
Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons. Of course they won, they started.
Michael Pettick's future for short looks right there. The future
of Cousins, I would say.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
Is a little bit murky.

Speaker 12 (14:53):
They still are paying them no matter what, more than
twenty million dollars next year. The most likely scenario here, likely,
I would say, is that they end up releasing him.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
There is a scenario also.

Speaker 12 (15:03):
Where they keep them as the backup court of just
because they paid him already.

Speaker 9 (15:06):
But I think it's safe to say Cousins time is
a starter in Atlanta.

Speaker 6 (15:10):
Very much done.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Heah, I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Seems like, you know the swag surf we're doing with Kirk.
That's kind of how his season has gone, some of
those up and downs. We appreciate you. Thank you so much.
And the Texans having to have a short memory because
Christmas just two days away. Just a brilliant doubleheader coming
your way of first one pm Eastern Chiefs in Pittsburgh
taking on the Steelers, then four thirty pm Eastern the

(15:33):
Texans hosting the Ravens Christmas doubleheader on Netflix.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
After some presents, just sit down, just watch some football.
You don't need to go anywhere else. We got you covered.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
And so to come business as usual for Patrick Mahomes
and the Chiefs, a win on Saturday over the Texans. Now,
as we said, the trip to steel City to battle
the Steelers or discuss that later.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
Lots to get to Kyle and I'm going to sell
you something.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
That looks ridiculous and you think all the lines messed up?
They did that on purpose?

Speaker 3 (15:59):
Right there were you watching Lions Bears?

Speaker 4 (16:01):
How dare you?

Speaker 3 (16:02):
If you weren't, you missed maybe the funniest play of
this season.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
Everything they're doing there was planned.

Speaker 6 (16:06):
I promise you we're.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Gonna get into We're gonna get it every single game.

Speaker 6 (16:10):
It's GMFB.

Speaker 13 (16:12):
Happy holidays, folks, Good mono.

Speaker 5 (16:24):
Moll Lions in Soldier Field. We talked about this game
all week long. So many injuries from Detroit, but it
didn't bother them. They're up thirteen to nothing early. Here's
the deep pass. Jamison Williams has some.

Speaker 11 (16:37):
Of the fastest wheels in all of football.

Speaker 9 (16:39):
Big game from Jamison.

Speaker 5 (16:41):
Here's Ben Johnson, the offensive coordinator. That's Jared Goff, that's
you games. There's a stumble and a wait wait wait
wait touchdown. That stumble was land incredible play design. This
is the stuff you do when you're a thirteen to
two team. Lions destroy the Bears. Caleb Williams sacked a

(17:02):
million times.

Speaker 4 (17:04):
Shouldn't they have saved that? I don't know. They said
the Bears fall victim to it early in the season,
so they used it all right. Seahawks Vikings was a
really good game.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
This was very, very exciting. It was back and forth.
Two teams that look like playoff teams. Maybe one team
that will be though we're not sure. Vikings they just
don't lose. They dance Disney Dance. I've seen the whole thing.
Vikings are thirteen and two, twenty seven.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
To twenty when the leaks are thirteen to two.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
Should we hear from Sam Darnold this see have some
electric copy for us?

Speaker 4 (17:34):
Probably not, That's not what he does. All he does
is win, Sam deer thing.

Speaker 8 (17:37):
I'm not not gonna get into, you know, kind of
what we're capable of.

Speaker 7 (17:41):
We know exactly what kind of team we have.

Speaker 8 (17:42):
We know exactly the kind of guys that we have
in that locker room.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
It's just for us to be able to continue to go.

Speaker 9 (17:47):
Want to know, can you take us to what you
saw five?

Speaker 6 (17:50):
It's an interception, man. Anything you see that goes wrong,
put it on me.

Speaker 4 (17:54):
Anything that don't look right, put it on me.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
Take a look at the NFC right now, Lions, they
will serve the Eagles lose, the Rams win in New York,
it's only are the three seed. Now you're looking at
the Vikings record, You're like, how are the Vikings and
Packers in the wild card guys division winners one two,
three four, No matter what the records, which makes these
last two weeks so so vital in the NFC North

(18:20):
Lions are the one Vikings right now would be traveling
to the NFC South Division winner, whether it be Tampa
or Atlanta.

Speaker 9 (18:27):
The Packers would be going to.

Speaker 5 (18:28):
La And of course the Packers play the Saints tonight.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
And coming up.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
We do still get Vikings and Lions in Week eighteen,
but the Vikings are hanging stride there with the Lions
huge win. As we saw that was very close to
the wire in that rainy Seattle game. But Peter, as
we look at this, what stands out? What did you
see in that game?

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Maybe was like, wait a minute.

Speaker 5 (18:47):
Yeah, look, Darnold was awesome yesterday yet again throwing the
rock everywhere. But this Vikings defense seems to be one
of the most opportunistic units.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
In the league.

Speaker 5 (18:56):
Here we go, it's twenty seven to twenty four and
Harrison Smith isn't playing foot injury, defensive leader, Notre Dame, legend, Mantaiteyo.
You know Harrison Smith, who's that. That's THEO Jackson, THEO
Jackson who comes in. He didn't think he would make
the play that would end up being the huge celebration.
Yet their THEO Jackson was and that is the difference maker.

(19:19):
And that's been the story for the Vikings. It's been
everybody you don't expect stepping up and guys who might
not be household names making big plays. I will say
this though, and I hate to go negative. Seattle everything
to play for at home, hanging in this game down
the stretch. I mean, Kenneth Walker was averaging six and
a half yards per carry and yet they completely abandoned

(19:41):
the run in this game. You look at this, I
have questions, fifteen Russians when you have Kenneth Walker and
Zach Sharbonage is gobbling up yards early on in this game,
completely one sided. They put it all on Geno and
in the end he threw you know, a couple of
big interceptions and that's just not going to do it.
So Seahawks, they might have played their way out of
the playoff picture, especially with Washington having that big win.

Speaker 10 (20:02):
Yeah, I'm going to piggyback right off, because when I
watched this game, I thought of all the similarities between
these two teams. I thought about the quarterbacks Geno Smith
and Sam Darnell, not only their history with the New
York Jets, but just their their play style. They're guys
that they're not really dangerous with their feet, but they
can get the job done. But then you watch how
they throw the ball. They throw really nice tight spiral

(20:22):
and all of that stuff, and then talk about the
solid run games. To your point, Shregs, Kenneth Walker, Ryan
Grubb has started to run a lot of games, a
lot of plays under center, and I'm so glad to
see that because earlier in the year everybody knows on
this show, I was giving him a lot of a
lot of flat for a shotgun heavy approach in the NFL,
it just doesn't work. So he started to transition a

(20:44):
little bit to under the center quarterback exchange, and then
also the passing attack and then defensively their ability to
get after the quarterback. But the biggest difference, to your point, Shregs,
was those two interceptions that to me was the thing
that separated that was the only difference was Geno Smith's
inns they did in game, and obviously that the missfield goal.

(21:07):
But I swear when I was watching this game, I
couldn't tell the difference between either two because Aaron Jones
was doing a really good job in the Ren game
for the Vikings, and then Kenneth Parker was doing a
great job for the Seattle Seahawks in the Ren game.
And then you see Jackson Smith and Jig but catching
a whole bunch of passes, Jordan Addison catching a whole
bunch of passes, and the defense's ability to really harass

(21:27):
the quarterback. So it came down to the little things,
and the little things surmounted to a lot of big mistakes,
and you know, unfortunately for the Seahawks that came up short.
But you know, hats off to the Minnesota Vikings for
coming up and going on the road in a very
hostile environment and coming out with a win.

Speaker 9 (21:43):
Heck, yeah, it was a hostile environment.

Speaker 11 (21:45):
And shout out to Sam Donald because he did an
amazing job as well.

Speaker 9 (21:49):
I mean Sam Donald.

Speaker 11 (21:50):
He had a resounding message that he is ready for
playoff football, and the way he orchestrated this last drive.
This seventy five yard game winning drive to me was
the best part. Four minutes down by four four twenty
and he went down there.

Speaker 9 (22:05):
The play calling I thought was excellent as well.

Speaker 11 (22:08):
You saw him that first one that they had that
outstanding personnel set up where you have Justin Jefferson in
the backfield kind of is like a half back, and
he goes out on that choice route. They get that
drive started with that, and then after that you see
Sam Donald making plays with his legs. He goes, yeah,
you can call me sneaky fast if you want, but
I'm about to make some plays with my legs. And

(22:29):
then that last throw under duress, had so much pressure
up in his face and to be able to just
drop that ball to Justin Jefferson with converging defenders on him,
that said everything you needed to say for Sam Donald
and his ability to play this game at a high
level in a very hostile.

Speaker 9 (22:46):
Environment, very hard.

Speaker 11 (22:48):
You saw him even trying to make adjustments they couldn't hear.
That's when he took off rings. I can't hear what
the ELL's going on. I'm gonna make it with my feet.
And so I was really really impressed with the way
Sam Darnold handled himself in that last four minutes, because
that's how winning is done. And not to mention too
after Seattle got the ball back and have that interception,
then once Sam Donald comes back into that play, they're

(23:08):
running out of time.

Speaker 9 (23:09):
It's fourth down.

Speaker 11 (23:10):
They don't convert third and seven, they don't convert that,
and he has the wherewithal to say, you know what,
I'm gonna take this act go down and I'm not
gonna give to Seattle enough time to try to make
that game winning drive. So I thought it was just
the heads he played by Sam Donald.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
I mean, as we continue to be impressed by Sam Donald,
it's time to stop being surprised by Sam Donald. This
is a thirteen and two football team. I remember when
they were the best story of September. It's like, oh wow,
the Vikings are actually gonna be good this year. No
one picked him for the playoffs. It's December now, do
you even remember their last loss? It was to the
Rams and then they lost to the Lions by two points.
That's it. They lost to the Rams. They lost the
Lions by two points. It's hilarious to me though, as

(23:46):
Peter brought this up when we started. The thirteen and
two team has a worse seed than the Falcons and
the Rams.

Speaker 4 (23:52):
That's just the way it works right now.

Speaker 3 (23:54):
But they have a chance to do something about it,
and they look every single part that they can. Guys,
they could be the one very easily. They still played
Detroit's they went out now that Philly. They're right there,
thirteen and two team, just to fireworks display yesterday. Seattle's
a good football team. We know it's tough to play.
We've mentioned it a bunch of times. It's the greatest hits.
It's Addison, it's Jefferson. They make plays when they need to.

(24:17):
But they have done.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
This now for months.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
I wonder, though, where are we nationally with the reputation
and the image of this Vikings team. I'm just saying
they're thirteen to two over and over. Are you still
going to pick him against Green Bay next week?

Speaker 4 (24:29):
Do you still expect them even if they do get.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
The one, do go into some kind of buy and
then come out and lose it home in the Divisional?
I'm not there. It's too many wins. You have to
respect them. I don't care who their coaches, who their
quarterback is. They look fantastic just about every single week.
And by the way, I already gave the Offensive Rookie
the Year to Jade Daniels.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
That's over.

Speaker 3 (24:48):
If I had a vote, which I don't, koc is
the offense is the coach of the year. Coach of
the year is Kevin O'Connell. You can say Dan Campbell
did a great job too. He had golf coming in.
He was with golf last year. They kind of had
this whole machine. Everyone gives so much credit to his coordinators.

Speaker 4 (25:01):
Kevin O'Connell. For me, it's over.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
You're even joking on social media. Coach is now spelled
ko ac h.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Kevin O'Connell. We see what you're doing there.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
All right, let's go back to Saturday.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
Remember if the Steelers win this game, they are your
AFC North champions.

Speaker 4 (25:15):
But you got Lamar. They're in the All Purples and
they're home. Guys.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
That's Lamar Jackson's career high with touchdown passes.

Speaker 4 (25:21):
That's thirty seven. He had three of them in this game.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
The Ravens by two tuddies as Derek Henry had.

Speaker 4 (25:28):
A massive game. There's Chad Steele more like Plaid Steele.

Speaker 6 (25:31):
What's up, well done.

Speaker 5 (25:35):
I hope to shout out brad Gee from the Chiefs
pr staff. Let's see if he's in the shot as well.
Right here, that's Patrick Mahons high ankle sprain. We know
the stories, all eyes on it. Chiefs find a way
to win on a chilling day for the Texans where
they lose one of their top players, Tank Dell, to
a serious knee injury.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Yes, be interesting to see what happens how the team
responds with that gruesome knee injury to tankdal I also
have a couple questions about Pittsburgh that they now have
lost back to back games.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
But Peter, as you watched on Saturday, what what jumped
out to you?

Speaker 5 (26:08):
Yeah, just that the Chiefs are such gamers and you
could say at home, there is no way Mahomes' injury
was as bad as you guys on Good Morning Football
hyped it up to be all week. It was like
it was this guy found a way six days at
the suffering what looked to be a potentially sideline causing
injury where we'd have to have the Carson Wentz experience

(26:28):
the last two weeks, Mahomes found a way to play
and was awesome and DeAndre Hopkins made plays and Juju
made plays, and they just did what they have to do.
They held serve you look at this situation here, if
I get the AFC playoff picture, it's really interesting because
it went from oh, do you not start Mahomes? They
do start Mahomes. And with Buffalo now two games back,

(26:52):
which is two games remaining, a win on Christmas locks
this thing up for Kansas City. They just need to
win on Wednesday. We're not in our studio right now,
the Netflix who is practicing in rehearsing and getting all
the bells and whistles ready and making sure that chime
the bong is working for when they come on air.

(27:13):
That's the first game. It's Chiefs versus Steelers. A Chiefs
win gives them two full weeks to rest and give.

Speaker 11 (27:21):
That ankle some real time to heal before the divisional round. Yeah,
and when Patrick Mahomes starts to heal up, then all
of a sudden, we've now seen the resurgence and getting
back into the fold Hollywood Brown. How exciting was that
to see Hollywood Brown back into the mix of things
as they're starting to get healthier in different positions. But

(27:41):
I'm excited to see what the Chiefs are going to do.
This is going to be in very, very good and
interesting matchup going up against the Steelers in this Christmas matchup.
But I think that when I look at the way
they've gotten to fourteen and one, it has not been pretty.

Speaker 9 (27:54):
It has been It's been.

Speaker 11 (27:55):
Kind of really like a backyard fight, and it's just
really nasty and ugly. But that some way, somehow, they
continue to knock feed people out. They continue to make
the right moves. And so I'm looking at this and
I'm going the one thing I have to be concerned
about is the way the Pittsburgh Steelers, the way they
get after quarterbacks. When I look at Hayward, when I
look at TJ. Watt, when I look at the way
they attack the upfront, that's going to be the one

(28:17):
thing I think they could stop. The Kansas City Chiefs
and the way they play football this season so far.

Speaker 10 (28:23):
Yeah, akbar, that might have not been pretty, But you
know what was beautiful just watching Lamar throw the ball
from the pocket. Let me tell you guys, Ah, yes,
watching that guy throw the ball. I remember playing Colin
Kaepernick in twenty fourteen and Tyrol Taylor in twenty seventeen
when I was with the Saints, and.

Speaker 6 (28:37):
The whole week was just keep these guys in the pocket.
Just keep them in the pocket.

Speaker 10 (28:41):
We have a chance, go ahead and keep Lamar Jackson
in the pocket and see what happens.

Speaker 6 (28:45):
Guys, go ahead and try to do that.

Speaker 10 (28:47):
So watching the Ravens offense just perform under Lamar Jackson.
There's a reason why he's a two time MVP and
he's in the conversation for his third. It's just he's whether.

Speaker 6 (28:57):
He's using his legs or he's making.

Speaker 10 (28:59):
Explosive plays through the air with his arm in or
outside of the pocket.

Speaker 6 (29:04):
He is so dangerous.

Speaker 10 (29:05):
But I think the thing that seems the most dangerous
to me is that past defense for the Ravens. Ever
since they brought Kyle Hamilton and they put him at safety,
that that pass defense for the for the Ravens has
been different. I know Friday, I was bringing up the
history of Notre Dame Notre Dame safeties in the league,
and I brought up Harrison Smith to love. For some reason,

(29:25):
I forgot about Kyle Hamilton. I don't know how I
did that. Probably one of the best right now. So
it's so beautiful to watch Lamar do his thing not
only outside of the pocket but through the air. And
didn't watch Kylle Hamilton and that pass defense for the
Ravens come alive.

Speaker 6 (29:40):
So shout out to the Ravens.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
You think that's beautiful, man Tali, You should have seen
me last week do an eight minute opus on Carson
Wentz and the impact he was going to make for
the chiefs of this game moving forward.

Speaker 4 (29:50):
All completely wasted time. I put my heart and soul
in that carton West Carson Wentz. I thought I was
gonna win the Emmy for all of us.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
Didn't play it down. And here's my take on my Homes.
Is it possible he's better with the high ankle sprain.
I mean, he looked some of the best I've seen
him all. See listen, what the hell's going on here?
He had eight different receivers. He didn't just get it
to Hollywood Brown. He got to Hollywood Brown five times,
Kelsey eight, Xavier Worthy lead. Like Mahomes looked better than
he did a few weeks ago, not worse, not the same.

(30:18):
It's like it's just this thing with boredom. They want
to try something different. He's like, ah, my leg kind
of feels different. I'm kind of excited now I'm re engaged.
It's absolutely nuts what they do. They're fourteen and one.
They almost never lose. A Superman played by Josh Allen
on a fourth and two a couple of weeks ago,
is the only thing that's ever beat them.

Speaker 4 (30:33):
I love the Steelers and Ravens, and Bill's like, are
we getting to the point now? We're like, man, I
think the Chiefs just have it again. It might be it.

Speaker 3 (30:43):
I know there's some great AFC team. It's not conceding it.
But when I saw there out Mahomes in this game,
he's supposedly hobbled and broken, he likes it.

Speaker 9 (30:51):
He looked better than he has all season.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
Get out of here. Chiefs always Chief Chief, Chief, Chiefs,
Chief Chief.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
That is why they are trying for a three pt man.
They're just so good.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
But hey, Christmas, just two days away, we get to
see these teams yet again. A brilliant doubleheader coming your way.
I can tell you Netflix, they're in the building.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
They're setting up.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
First up Chiefs Steelers one pm Eastern and then Ravens.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
At Texans at four thirty pm.

Speaker 14 (31:16):
Eastern good montbar Omar Ruiz, there is at least not
that Omar Hey, if at least not be out of you,

(31:38):
kaylexwill How about the Rams.

Speaker 15 (31:39):
They've taken control of the NFC West. They now lead
that division by one game. They've won four in a row,
and they've put it on their running back Kyron Williams,
who dominated once again in their win over the Jets,
and after the game he joined our guy Mike Garrolfolo
in a freezing MetLife stadium.

Speaker 4 (31:56):
Kyron hearing a bunch of your guys saying, get me
out of here.

Speaker 9 (31:58):
It's freezing.

Speaker 15 (31:59):
I can see your cold coming into this game, though,
Sean McVay said, our running game, Kyra Williams built for it.

Speaker 6 (32:05):
You prove that today with this running it day as always.

Speaker 16 (32:07):
You know, whenever they call him a number, I'm gonna
know execute and That's what I'm doing, you know, literally,
I'm built for this, you know, so every time I
get a chance, I'm gonna make the most of it.
And you guys, I don't know a lot of people
would have thought that everything would.

Speaker 5 (32:16):
Be right in front of you with a couple of
games to go.

Speaker 15 (32:19):
How confident is this team right now because you look
extremely common.

Speaker 16 (32:21):
Super confident. You know, we know that we control our
own destiny. We know that we we get what we
get what we want out of the work that we
put in, and so we can be putting in super
a lot of work. You know, we're seeing them resolves.
So we've got to keep on doing the same thing.

Speaker 5 (32:31):
My Christmas gift to you is and let you go
get warm.

Speaker 9 (32:33):
Thank you so much. That's a heck of a Christmas gift.

Speaker 15 (32:37):
Time now for this week's replay review, and we take
you back to Dallas where it looked like Ceedee Lamb
had himself a touchdown. It was initially called a score.
It looked like he had rolled over the defender, but
it was reviewed. Sorry, fantasy football owners who have Lamzek
Elliott would eventually punch it in for the one yard touchdown.
When we come back, we'll take a look at some

(32:57):
plays he just had to see more than once to believe.

Speaker 9 (33:01):
You got to rewind that is next he had met ev.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
It's that time.

Speaker 2 (33:06):
You got to rewind that the plays we just had
to see more than once.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
Peter, when you're watching this weekend, what play were You're like, whoa?

Speaker 4 (33:12):
Whoa?

Speaker 1 (33:13):
Whoa go back?

Speaker 9 (33:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (33:14):
I used to do a segment on this awesome show
called Cool Plays Bro. I would wear a jacket, a
starter jacket with all the logos the team, and I
would break down the coolest plays.

Speaker 6 (33:23):
This would have been the play of the season.

Speaker 5 (33:25):
I think Ben Johnson this is very intentional, draws this
one up where he has Jared Goff fake stumble, Jamiir
Gibbs fake fall down, the defense sends their attention to that,
and then Sam Laporta leaks to the left. This was
in a thirteen point game with no real competition from
the other side. They empty the playbook and do it

(33:46):
in Chicago for everyone to see, not saving it for
the playoffs. Interesting and maybe Ben Johnson wanted that Chicago
ownership in the building to see what he's.

Speaker 9 (33:56):
Got in his back to see.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
Mine?

Speaker 10 (34:00):
Guys, was Jayalen Carter on this force bolm what he
had with Brian Robinson Junior out And if anybody saw
the replay, but Jayleen Carter is telling his defensive line, Hey,
this guy right here, he's about to pool. There's nothing
better for a middle linebacker than having a nose guard
that knows where the ball is going. I remember having
Brandon Mee Bane as my nose guard and telling me

(34:21):
and him telling me, oohs is a stretch to the left,
and him being able.

Speaker 6 (34:25):
To blow those plays up.

Speaker 10 (34:26):
So shout out to Jayalen Carter for her heads up play.

Speaker 4 (34:29):
Guys.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
What what is Aaron Rodgers doing here?

Speaker 4 (34:31):
He's gonna throw a touchdown pass. It's a great way
to start the game. And then afterwards. I've seen him
do a lot of sun I've never seen him do this.

Speaker 1 (34:40):
And Aaron, what, I.

Speaker 4 (34:45):
Gotta admit, I'm in on the Enigma feetter. I started
watching it over the weekend.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
Here's the greatest today?

Speaker 4 (34:49):
What is that? And already allowed to do that? I
feel like I should shield my eyes.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
Rogers loses again, but that's something, freakers, that was fun
to watch.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
What do you got?

Speaker 1 (34:57):
If he did two more pumps, he might have gotten.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
The flat mine was Jonathan Taylor because remember last week
my man Wisconsin dropped the ball before he crossed the
goal line.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
But no, no, he says, watch this, I'm going to
go past it. I'm going to go into the tunnel.

Speaker 2 (35:12):
Unfortunately, those extra yards don't count. But three tunnies on
the day two eighteen on the ground. I see you,
Jonathan Taylor. I will actually be dope you're in the tunnel,
but I like what.

Speaker 4 (35:22):
You did out there.

Speaker 11 (35:23):
You know, I'm gonna go back. I'm gonna go back
to that Detroit game. But I will say, though, Kyle,
I think that was a beefcake. You remember Brutus to
Barbara beefcake, But yeah, I think that's what that dance was.

Speaker 9 (35:35):
But look at this right here, Jamo.

Speaker 6 (35:37):
Or this touchdown.

Speaker 11 (35:39):
I mean, he goes off and it was so cool
to see his wide receiver coach and Twyla Randall L
who used to make plays.

Speaker 9 (35:44):
Like this all the time. But look at the celebration
in boots on the sideline.

Speaker 11 (35:49):
He was looked like he was keeping up, like he
wanted to be out there on the field. But it
was it was cool to see him celebrating. You just
caught a little glimpse of him when Jamo made that
eighty two yard bomb and just.

Speaker 9 (36:01):
To say, I said, who's that flying down the.

Speaker 11 (36:03):
Sideline and of course Antoine Randall L celebrating. That's that's
cool when you get your coach celebrate like that.

Speaker 1 (36:09):
That was amazing, amazing athleticism.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
But Kyle, excellent eyes for that. Aaron Rodgers, remember the belt,
the discount double check, But.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
Sure, I does he look a little stiff. I'm trying.
This is a robot. I have so many questions on exactly.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
I'm glad we're rewinding this again.

Speaker 4 (36:28):
Guys, I don't know. The Jets did not punt in
this game.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
It's this weird fact that they did not punt and
they scored nine points.

Speaker 4 (36:35):
It's an incredible thing.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
They started the game with a ninety nine yard touchdown
driver's seat, never punted, scored nine points.

Speaker 4 (36:40):
And lost by double jeds.

Speaker 3 (36:41):
Very strange season for the Jets, but it's kind of hot.

Speaker 4 (36:43):
I don't mind it.

Speaker 5 (36:45):
There's also footage of him jawing with the Rams defensive
backs coach Aubrey Pleasant on the sideline, really.

Speaker 9 (36:51):
Going at it.

Speaker 5 (36:52):
And I don't think they have like this great relationship.
Rogers was an enigma.

Speaker 1 (36:56):
