Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good Morning Football.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
That's right, it's GMFB.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
Everybody, How you doing Monday of Draft week? Cody Kessler
is back. We had Cody on for the first time
ever about a month ago, early March. Cody, you got
the bug, the GMFB bug, and we thought best if
we bring you back for Draft week.
Speaker 5 (00:39):
How you doing.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
How's your prep? I'm doing good. I've been doing a
lot of prep.
Speaker 6 (00:42):
I actually had Jamie GMFB withdrawals a week after.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
I was still on my.
Speaker 6 (00:46):
Weird sleep schedule, so I stayed up till five am
that following Monday. I missed everybody, So as soon as
I got the invitation to come back, I had to
jump on it.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
We're happy to see you, and of course we're going
to talk quarterbacks with Cody Kessler, and we're also going
to talk everything else draft related with Tom Pella.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Sero.
Speaker 4 (00:59):
Tom, you're already on location for this week's NFL Draft.
As I mentioned at the top, this thing kicks off
Thursday at eight pm Eastern. Tom, you're already there, and
where are you physically right now? Because this is hallowed
ground when it comes to football and now the draft,
first time ever in Green Bay.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
This is really cool, Tom.
Speaker 7 (01:19):
I am coming to you live from the broadcast booth.
Normally you'd be seeing Kevin Burkhart Tom Brady sitting in
here with the field behind them.
Speaker 8 (01:26):
I'm in that same chair. This might be Brady's chair.
Speaker 7 (01:30):
Then I'm in just walking around here last night in
Green Bay. You know it's an active construction zone. I
mean they are building the physical stage out on the
east side of the stadium. They're erecting the barricades and
everything else. Can't wait to see because right now this
feels like a normal Monday morning other than that construction
in Green Bay. But come Thursday, it is going to
(01:50):
be a party like every pregame you've ever seen before
the Packers take on the Bears.
Speaker 8 (01:55):
It's all going to be happening right here. It's a
really cool moment.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
For time, before we get.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
Down to business, just give a thirty second clip on
why green Bay means so much to you. I mean,
you are always our resident, and but you have personal
ties to this and the fact that you are on
hand this week actually makes it really cool for you.
Speaker 7 (02:10):
I worked at the Green Bay Press Gazette the two
thousand and seven to two thousand and nine seasons, which
you might remember as the time when the Packers went
to the NFC Championship game, lost in overtime.
Speaker 8 (02:19):
Then Brett Favre retired, then unretired.
Speaker 7 (02:21):
Then there was an off season long battle between the
team and far If. He flew in in a private
plane during the family night's scrimmage, came to his suite
while Aaron Rodgers out there trying to operate the offense
stand up divorcing. He goes to the Jets, then to
the Vikings. I was covering all of that. It was
a fascinating time to be in Green Bay. But it's
always fun coming back seeing how everything has grown here.
(02:43):
All the stuff you're gonna be seeing in the shots
that we have, the title town area.
Speaker 8 (02:47):
None of that was there.
Speaker 7 (02:48):
It was a kmart back here. Now they've got a
giant like lose track. Okay, it's really grown up. It's
gonna be a great spec O for Green Bay.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
That is all history, Tom Pellisara, and we know that
you can write and speak to it so well. But
we are looking at future right now in the NFL.
It's the top of the draft board, it's the Titans,
the Browns. Where do we sit right now ahead of
the twenty twenty five NFL Draft?
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Give us the latest, please, Jamie.
Speaker 7 (03:10):
For a couple of months now, it's been pretty clear
that the Titans pick is going to be cam Ward,
the quarterback from Miami.
Speaker 8 (03:16):
Nothing one hundred percent.
Speaker 7 (03:17):
You can't announce it in advance here, but it would
be a absolute shock if it's not cam Ward going
to Tennessee at number two. Cleveland then has its choice
of the top non quarterbacks in this draft. Of course,
they need a quarterback as well. More on that in
a little bit here, but I would say the feeling
within the league is most likely Travis Hunter from Colorado
(03:39):
ends up being the Browns pick at number two. Abdua Carter,
the Penn State edge rusher, also would be a potential option.
But when you've got Andrew Berry out there calling the
Travis Hunter d Shoho tani of football, another clear sign
to people within the league it probably goes that direction.
That then brings us to number three, which is going
to be a fascinating, fascinating slot.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
It absolutely is.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
I personally don't love the phrase, oh the draft starts
with whatever pick because you're just assuming a lot of
things happen at one and two. Cody, Let's play the
game though that you know, assuming the draft starts at three,
what intrigues you the most? Is it where the Giants
sit at three? If you are going to make those
cam Warden Travis Hunter assumptions, or where do you jump to, Cody,
that's fascinating.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Yeah, I'm going to go with the player.
Speaker 6 (04:22):
Actually, I think there's a lot of great talent at
the top of this draft. With the guy that intrigues
me the most is Penn State tight end Tyler Warren.
I really like him as a prospect. He's one of
those can't miss type guys, a sure thing if you
will at the next level when it comes to prospects
in twenty twenty five. I love his versatility. You can
line him up anywhere on the field on the offensive.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Side of the ball. That's what makes him so valuable.
Speaker 6 (04:42):
I watched the man come to usc at the Coliseum
against my Trojans early last year and go for seventeen
receptions two hundred and twenty four yards and a touchdown
as a tight end. Jamie he lined up at quarterback
at running back at wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
He threw a pass, he ran the ball.
Speaker 6 (04:56):
He also lined up at center, snapped the ball and
drew Aller ran down the middle of the field and
caught a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Over our safety.
Speaker 6 (05:02):
He is a game plan nightmare for a post defensive coordinators.
He can create mismatches all over the field. Very smooth
route runner as well. At sixty five two hundred and
sixty pounds, which is rare to say, great catch radius,
can go up and take the ball out of the sky.
I just really love him as a prospect. I think
he's going to be a great player for a very
long time in the NFL. And I don't think personally
(05:22):
he makes it outside of the top ten on Thursday night,
somebody who was actually.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
On last week and claimed that he might be a
top five guy even And if hear a Mike Rabowle
trying to make Drake may feel more comfortable. The Patriots
currently sit at number four in their NFL draft slot.
Tom Plo, Sero, you just set the table for us,
and it's a wonderful job. But there must be something
out there that's like a little bit more meat on
the bone for you. In terms of draft intrigue, well.
Speaker 7 (05:46):
First of all, Cody's right, and Tyler Warren should be
a top ten pick. He's on that very very short
list of the elite players in this strapt. In a
normal draft, NFL teams might have eighteen to twenty two
players with first round grades. As I'm talking to people
with the league, there's maybe eight, ten, twelve clear dudes
in this draft, and then everybody from depending where you
cut it off, tend to let's say twenty five, thirty forty.
(06:08):
There's a whole bunch of players with really similar grades.
This also a draft where we only have one quarterback
who has pretty consistent first round starter grades across the NFL.
Speaker 8 (06:17):
That's cam Ward.
Speaker 7 (06:18):
So I am fascinated to see where does that next
group of quarterbacks go. There's been a lot of focus
on Schadeur Sanders. We'll talk about him plenty within this show,
but it is not consistent across the league that Scheduur
Sanders is even the number two quarterback that'll come off
the board in this draft. Jackson dart is in that conversation,
where does Jalen Milroe go?
Speaker 8 (06:37):
Where does Tyler Shuck go?
Speaker 7 (06:39):
From Louisville, the guy who most people probably are a
lot less familiar with if you were a college football fan.
He was backing up Justin Herbert at Oregon for a
couple of years. That's how long he's been around. Put
it together though last year at Louisville. Those four guys
from quarterback two to quarterback five, I have talked to
over twenty teams. They're all stacked differently from team to
team because they're different flavors. Shuck is the guy who's
(07:00):
come from a pro style offense. He knows how to
operate it. Jalen Miller is one of the best running
threats that anybody has ever scouted coming out in the draft.
Jackson Dark coming from that offense at Ole Miss. That
kind of gets knocked around because it's like a quarterback
friendly spread type of scheme. I'm sure codyo break that
down for us a little bit later. And then you've
got Schadur the highest profile one, the guy who up
until a few months ago, people were saying is he
(07:21):
going to be the number one pick over cam Ward?
Those four guys, they could all go in the first,
they could all slide into the second. We just don't
know exactly how that's gonna play out. It's gonna be
one of the fun and probably a little bit stressful
situations to monitor for those guys who were involved.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Yeah, it just depends on what seat you sit in,
whether or not it's fun or stressful. Tom, You're exactly right.
What I found most intriguing was when is the next
time I'm going to see or hear from Kyle Brant.
We've been playing dancing around on GMFB. I haven't seen him,
I have heard from I have no idea what his
takes are when it comes to.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
The NFL Draft. I saw Hi pop up on Sports.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
Center last week, but Kyle Brant is here. We are
both going to Green Bay eventually this week. At some point, Kyle,
I will see you there. But you have to have
a capital I intrigue storyline today, Kyle, what is it.
Speaker 9 (08:05):
I go away for a few days, everything goes to crap.
What the hell happened? I'm sitting here, I'm ready to contribute.
I have takes for Cody. I want to thank Pelasero,
who just had more carries this segment that Ashton Genty's
gonna have in his entire rookie year.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Tom, You're doing work. I love you, buddy.
Speaker 9 (08:20):
You ran down your whole LinkedIn from your back and
your days in green Back. You did everything Tom trying
to carry us.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Thank you.
Speaker 9 (08:27):
Let me get in here for a second, and Jamie,
I'll get in.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Here with a question.
Speaker 9 (08:30):
And this is a question to you, Jamie, to Cody,
to everybody in the country, to everybody covering the draft.
Are we allowed to talk about cam Warden?
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Is it okay?
Speaker 3 (08:39):
If I do that? Are they gonna pull us off
the air if we don't.
Speaker 9 (08:42):
Have a segment that is exclusively about one of.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
The Colorado guys?
Speaker 9 (08:45):
My gosh, cam Warden is the least covered number one
overall pick in history. And he's not some forgotten about
old lineman from some dopey program. He's a quarterback from
Miami and you were pulled off the air by the
if you even talk about him. I don't understand what's
going on here. The Jaguars took Trayvon Walker a few
(09:07):
years ago. I'm not sure he's been mentioned in a
television segment since then, and he was more talked about
than cam ward I'm old enough to remember twenty thirteen,
Eric Fisher was taking number one out of Central Michigan,
a lineman from the Mac and he was Peyton Maddy
compared to cam Ward.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
I get it.
Speaker 9 (09:23):
I understand why. Maybe the Titans don't jump off the
marque for you. Maybe there's not a fights and everything
has to be a debate and we have to fill
segments with fighting. Should it be this guy that guy
and there is no debate? But isn't that a credit
to cam Ward?
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Shouldn't we at.
Speaker 9 (09:36):
Least take one hot second and say, Wow, this cam
Wards guy's pretty good, and shouldn't we notice a little
bit more about him? We know a lot about Shador Sanders.
I know cam Ward's father is not a football coach.
It's very famous and had one saint we used to
have video games and his own shoe and everything.
Speaker 10 (09:51):
I know.
Speaker 9 (09:51):
His father's also named Calvin, and his wife Patrese. They
go to every single one of cam Ward's games. Camwoard's
favorite food or pop tarts on cam Woard's pregame playlist
is Kodak Black. And you know what, maybe the draft
story is that compelling. His story is compelling. Understand this,
the guy that no one's talking about, was a zero
star recruit out of high school, just like the reigning
(10:12):
MVP Josh Allen. He went to incarnate word not for
some cup of coffee before he ended the portal. He
was there for two years playing, taking hits, growing and
then he jumps up and he's now the number one
overall pick. This is an incredible story, and the story
about the story is the audacity of people to say
that the draft starts at pick number three. No, it
starts at one with Cam Wore, the best player in
(10:35):
the draft who will be drafted number one overall. And
I'm sorry, we're gonna have to pay some sort of
fine or fee because we talked about him on the
air of the week of the draft. Apologies, I'm gonna
do it again later in the week two. It's great
to be back.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
Please, Kyle, favorite pop tart real quick?
Speaker 3 (10:48):
What do you got?
Speaker 9 (10:48):
I mean, I'm a classic guy. I like just the strawberry.
I don't even even need it frosted. Back in the day,
they didn't come frost and everything was all sugared and
all perfect and everything classic strawberry, unfrosted. And I'm three
out of the ten toasted. I like it lightly toasted,
medium ware.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
All right. Good to know.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
We'll have to ask Kim Wore that as well, since
that's on his bio. Kyle, well done, welcome back officially.
It's great to hear from you and to feel your energy.
It's palpable through the screen. Tom three days. As Kyle
mentioned from the NFL Draft, the Giants, if you're just
gonna look at one, look at two, but care about
three if that's what you want to do. The Giants
have an awfully busy Tom. They're traveling all over, They're
(11:23):
having guys in for workouts. What do we expect the
Giants to do with the third overall pick?
Speaker 7 (11:27):
That is the number one asked question by other teams,
and I talked to gms and coaches, is are they
actually going to take a quarterback at three? Or are
they going to perhaps fill that need somewhere later on
in the draft.
Speaker 8 (11:39):
Here's what we know.
Speaker 7 (11:41):
Last week, they embarked on a four day road trip
across the country, a barnstorming tour. They went and worked
out Shador Sanders privately at Colorado. They worked out Jalen
Milroe privately at Alabama, and they worked out Tyler Shuck
at Louisville. That followed them also working out Jackson Dart
a month or so ago Shador Sanders and the Giants
(12:01):
have been linked literally for like a year. The Giant
Giants had somebody a scout or Joe Shane at every
open practice, at every game of Shador Sanders. They brought
him out to New Jersey for a visit, they went
to his showcase. Now they do a private work up.
There's no team that's done more work probably on one
player in this draft than the Giants on Shador Sanders.
(12:22):
Yet the questions persist, are the Giants actually going to
take him at number three or could they take whether
it's Travis Hunter, Abduel Carter, the guy that the Browns
do not take at number two. We know this, it's
a really important year for the Giants. It's a really
important year for Joe Shane and Brian Dable. They have
to get this pick right one way or another. And
(12:43):
Shador Sanders is one of the most polarizing prospects in
this draft. We all see the highlights, we know the
production at Colorado here, but there's a lot more the
teams are digging into in terms of how exactly he's
going to fit. The Giants have dug in as much
as anyone. Do they take Shador Sanders. We'll fight out
on Thursday night.
Speaker 9 (13:00):
Tom, I'm gonna go back to you and you're just
gonna keep working. And I love that you're there and
appreciate it. We talked about this with Mike Carafolo last week.
What is your take on the marriage between the Sanders
family and the Mara family. Maybe they have different ways
of doing business, maybe they have different style. Is that
something that you use the word polarizing for Shador for
all different types of reasons. Can you really see the
(13:22):
Giants as in an organization bringing that type of media
entity into New York City and saying, this is our guy.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
We're going to build around.
Speaker 7 (13:30):
What the Giants have to ask themselves are what we
want to be for the next five, ten, fifteen years
of the franchise. You're right, they have had a series
of quarterbacks from Eli Manning to Daniel Jones, who have
been you know, you talk about a pop tart, this
would be like one with no filling, absolute, no flavored, straightforward,
(13:50):
and then you go from that to Shador Sanders, who,
again based upon who his father is, base on alpop
profile it is. It would just be a different type
of a setup here. I certainly do not believe it's
a disqualify it. Again, They've done a ton of work
on Shador Sanders. Everybody is going to have to make
their own determinations here. And I had a GM for
a different team. Tell me the other day, Shadur, you
just got to like them. No building is going to
(14:12):
have a one hundred percent consensus. But do you feel
like from a physical standpoint as well as from a
locker room standpoint, this is going to work for you.
If the answer is, you know what, we think there's
a pretty decent chance, then you just suck it up
and you take them.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
Yeah. I think the Giants go best available.
Speaker 6 (14:27):
In my opinion, I think that's either a Travis Hunter
or a Dual Carter. I don't think they draft Shador Sanders.
This could potentially be the last year that we see
Joe Shane and Brian Day ball with the New York
Giants if there's not a significant turnaround in twenty twenty five.
For that reason, specifically, I think they go out and
draft the player that can play right away. I like
Shador Sanders. I think he has potential to be a
very good player in the NFL. I just don't think
(14:48):
that's right away. I think it's going to take some time.
He's going to have to develop. It's going to take
a little bit of time for him to get there.
The Giants don't have time to wait on that. They
have to get a guy that can go out and produce.
You cannot rush a quarterback when it comes to his development.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
That's very important.
Speaker 6 (15:01):
You can play a wide receiver or a defensive end
a little bit earlier than maybe they're ready, because they
can go out there and get thrown on the fire
and get their feet wet a little bit, play a
couple snaps, learn what works, learn what doesn't, and it
won't hurt them too bad. If you play a quarterback
before they are ready, especially in today's era of the NFL,
with all the pressure and the scrutiny and social media
in a media market like New York, you could significantly
(15:22):
hurt their development and their confidence. And that is so
difficult for a young quarterback to overcome, especially as a
young player in this league with a lot.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Of football still ahead of you.
Speaker 6 (15:31):
Also, the Giants already have Russell Wilson and Jamis Winston.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
I'm not saying that those.
Speaker 6 (15:35):
Are the quarterbacks of the future for New York. But
they don't necessarily need to go out and get a
quarterback exactly. They can go get a guy that can
play right away. That's what's so important for them because
of those circumstances and because of how important this is
of a year for Joe, Shane and Brian Daball. I
think they go out and get a guy and draft
him that can go out and produce right away, because
if they get Shud or Sanders and he's not ready,
(15:57):
they may not even be around by the time that
he develops and he goes out.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
There and plays.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Is there another Manning that's going to be draft eligible
next year anyways? So do you buy yourself year with
the quarterbacks on your roster?
Speaker 3 (16:06):
The Mannings and the Marrows? We know that works.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
NFL Networks top draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah reveals his final
mock draft of the year on Wednesday eight PM. He's
going to be joined by Charles Davis and Colleen Wolf.
This is going down. It's happening in Green Bay. I
believe we just show up Kyle and heckle them and
be awesome.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
Let's do it.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
Tom Pallisero, you're with us as well, you're going to
introduce us to a handful of players who you just
said all the teams have about eight to twelve guys
who have a first round gret, you're telling me that
there's about twenty other dudes that could go anywhere from
the first round all the way into the second. That's
wild any of these quarterbacks making that list. But Kyle,
you got a running back that you want to make
sure you talk about just as much as you want
(16:43):
to cover cam Ward.
Speaker 9 (16:46):
There he goes your classic work course in the Great
Year twenty twenty five. How high does Ashon Densi go?
Speaker 8 (16:54):
Is it a foregone conclusion?
Speaker 9 (16:55):
He's top ten? Is he top eight? Is he top five?
Is he top three? Can we keep going? And his
journey is incredible? You want stories this draft, We've got
them all for you. Good Morning football on a Monday,
biggest week of the air.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Let's go, Good morning, moll.
Speaker 11 (17:17):
Kenty.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
It don't take more than water. Touchdown pressure gets it
off to check do buy off something, check.
Speaker 10 (17:24):
Dy with some road.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Gent Y has the speed you call it love speed.
We call it a touchdown. He is simply amazing.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
You missed those opportunities ashtra Jenky will make you pay,
try to turn up the gas.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Steady job my goodness.
Speaker 9 (17:43):
Juts into the episode Touchdown, Moisty.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
States when you see Ashton GenZ run the football, his
talent is unmistakable and unique. Now, while you are getting
to know the rest of the NFL Draft prospects who
will take the stage on Thursday night, many will have
similar paths to football, high school, college, et cetera. But
believe me when I tell you that Aston Gent's path
is once again unmistakable and unique.
Speaker 10 (18:12):
Commitment to anything it's hard. You gotta be all in
the tossed by strikeout. So we want to stay fast
until we're forty five. Can't be ninety nine point nine.
You gotta be one hundred percent.
Speaker 12 (18:29):
In leaning though it hard, ring up halfway and we'll
back pull back.
Speaker 10 (18:35):
Touch down as a jug.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
Touch down as a Jug.
Speaker 10 (18:38):
Commitment is important, and that's what my mind said.
Speaker 13 (18:40):
Every day in the Navy we go by three core values. Honor, courage, commitment.
The kids understood the sacrifices of a military family have
to make.
Speaker 14 (18:57):
By the time I was thirteen, lived in Jacksonville, Florida, Chesapeake, Virginia,
and then positically, the.
Speaker 13 (19:06):
Hardest move we Mad was leaving the States to go overseas.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
At that time.
Speaker 13 (19:11):
Action is in middle school, right in the middle of
the season, right having to get up and move.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
We were shocked.
Speaker 12 (19:18):
Once we got to the naval base and knew that
he wasn't able to do football until he was in
high school.
Speaker 13 (19:26):
Ash found that out didn't really stop him.
Speaker 12 (19:31):
He said, you know what, regardless of the fact that
I have to wait, I'm still going to work out.
I'm still going to do everything that I need to
do to prepare myself because when it's time to get
on that feel I'm going to show the nation what
I can do.
Speaker 14 (19:46):
Everybody is motivated when things go their way, but when
things don't go your way, you know, how do you
respond react to that?
Speaker 10 (19:56):
And I mean, the thing for me is I just
love football.
Speaker 14 (19:59):
I knew from an early age like what I wanted
to do, and I was committed to it, and I
knew that was a step to be stronger than everybody.
Speaker 13 (20:07):
While he's waiting for his turn come nine grade, Ash
literally went out recruited a bunch of kids on base
to play for his team, and that same team the
same year went almost to the championship.
Speaker 5 (20:21):
I've never had a freshman ever start for me. On
the offensive side, he put up crazy numbers. In six games.
He had over fourteen hundred yards of all purpose yards.
You know, and not only did he play running back,
but he also returned punts for US and kick return
He averaged over three touchdowns a game. So he was
(20:46):
here for three years seventh, eighth, and ninth, but only
played his freshman year here. Then he has the Texas
at lone star, where he finished out his high school career.
The problem with Ashton his senior year was, even though
he had a tremendous year, he was unknown to most recruiters.
He was only class fight as a three star, and
you know, Boyse picked up a five star for three
(21:08):
star price.
Speaker 11 (21:15):
Ashton gens against the Fairy Explain touchdown rocos Gent three
times counted.
Speaker 13 (21:24):
Ashton wanted to be in a program where he could
make a difference, being a leader, carries his team on
his back.
Speaker 10 (21:30):
You saw it all.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
He done it all, Genzy Alude Chadors. He's got another touchdown.
Speaker 13 (21:35):
And I think the love that he had for his
program at Boys of State really kind of kept him there.
Speaker 5 (21:42):
When Boise State lost their head coach, most kids would
have left and found another nil deal. I knew in
my heart that Ashton wouldn't leave because he's committed to
the program.
Speaker 12 (21:56):
Making that decision was amazing many people. If they heard, okay,
I can offer you five hundred thousand dollars is seven
hundred thousand dollars to come to my school and do
what you love, they would jump in a minute.
Speaker 14 (22:15):
It was a tough decision, right, you know, different schools
calling you, But it's called a commitment for a reason.
Think about the school that you know, the people that
gave you opportunity when no one else did, who believed
in you when no one else did. Military life translates
(22:37):
to professional sports, being detailed, focused, oriented, having discipline, and
having commitment.
Speaker 13 (22:44):
No matter how good you get, no matter how little
or special you think you are. The right approach of
the right mindset is to stay humble and hungry throughout
the process.
Speaker 14 (22:59):
Take me about if you don't stay humble, then you
will be humble. Because it's not just me that I'm representing.
I represent my family, I represent my last name.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
Time for the round up presented by Roundup for Lowns,
Tom the Blue Field. Everything coming up blue for ash
Genty in college. However, does silver and black become a
part of this running backs color palette after the NFL
Draft this week, the Raiders sit at number six. Is
there louder noise with the Las Vegas Raiders for Ashing
Genty than any other team?
Speaker 7 (23:31):
Tom, We'll start with this, Jamie. He took three pre
draft visits. Ashton Genty visited the Raiders, who have the
number six pick. He visited the Bears, who have the
number ten pick. He visited the Cowboys, who have the
number twelve pick. To answer your question, yes, there is
more noise about Ashton Genty going to the Raiders than
probably a lot of other picks, a lot of other
matches in the top ten. My question is not does
(23:52):
Ashion Genty end up going somewhere in the top ten?
Speaker 8 (23:54):
I believe you will.
Speaker 7 (23:55):
My question is this somebody for a running back decide
in order to get you, we got to trade up
above the Raiders to ensure that we get him At
number five. Jacksonville is in a really interesting spot. They've
got a first year GM and head coach. They potentially,
in the right scenario, could be.
Speaker 8 (24:13):
Open for business.
Speaker 7 (24:14):
What you have to ask yourself is, if you're Ben
Johnston in Chicago.
Speaker 8 (24:17):
You're Brian Schottenneimer in Dallas.
Speaker 7 (24:19):
You're thinking, this guy can add a dimentia that we
can't get anyplace else. Is it worth it because it
will be expensive to go up and get ahead of
the raiders. That is something that we'll be watching very
closely as Thursday.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
Night A programs.
Speaker 4 (24:32):
Kyle, this is why we love this week. The Ashton
Genty story is a ridiculous one. To go from Italy
to Florida to Texas. This running back finally found his
footing on the blue field in college. When you look
at Ashton Genty and what he accomplished as a running back,
what do you love most about this guy?
Speaker 3 (24:48):
It's a great question.
Speaker 9 (24:49):
And normally you know the story is that they're in
Florida and they're a four star recruit and they go
to Ohio State, and that's all wonderful, that's all great.
Those guys are incredible. This story is very cool military
basis and moving here and moving there and dominating everywhere.
And also one of the most important players in this
draft in the sense that the team that takes him,
what do I see for him? I see three hundred
(25:10):
carries in his rookie year, you draft a running back
as high as someone's going to draft this guy, that
running back is going to work because you know Dan Well,
he's on the clock and so he's gonna want that
contract extension. You're going to run the wheels off him
and then probably not give it to him. But that's
for another show. I love what he does. And one
of the things I think is not talked about is,
so about four hundred touches. Last year, four hundred touches,
(25:31):
had three fumbles, which.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
Is pretty good.
Speaker 9 (25:33):
It's not immaculate, it's not great, but as the guy
who is the feature piece of the offense and everyone's
trying to strip it from him, and everyone will be
at the next level. I love that stuff about running backs. Also,
my favorite thing about running backs is yards per carry.
I don't care about total yards. I don't care about touchdowns.
When we give you the ball, how many yards you get.
And each year at Boise, each highly productive year, the
yards per carry went up and up and up. It
(25:55):
was like a running back get stronger into the fourth quarter.
He got stronger into his third season there. It's a
fascinating thing with the draft because I like what Tom's
getting it just that. Oh wow, he gets drafted in
the top ten. I like the idea of elite frog
deal for them, for somebody who wants them so bad
they will pay through the nose to move up. Ashton
Gentz could not have hit this any better. They have
(26:16):
his ability in his highlights draft this year, following Sai Kuan,
following Derrek Henry, following all those amazing running backs last
year and the year before that, McCaffrey being OFFENSI player
the year. It's like there is a thirst for running
backs right now and he just played it absolutely perfectly.
I don't think he gets past six or seven, but
I also don't think that people sitting at six or
seven are necessarily the ones that are going to draft him.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Yeah, that was very well said, Kyla.
Speaker 6 (26:39):
Ashton gent In my opinion, is probably my favorite player
in this entire draft.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
He is such a explosive running back.
Speaker 6 (26:47):
Please, if you haven't watched his tape, go watch his
film at Boise State. A great combination of power and
speed paired with great vision. Knows how to let his
blocks develop, then he puts his foot in the ground,
gets North and salviek and Hurl a guy.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
He is patient, but also not a lot of wasted movements,
and that's so important.
Speaker 6 (27:02):
At the next level. He also could create on his own.
What that means is when the blocking is not quite there,
he can break tackles. He can make a negative three
yard play into a ten yard play, which is so
important and you love that. As a quarterback, he had
twenty six hundred yards on the ground and he had
twenty nine touchdowns rushing. He also had three hundred and
seventy four carries. He had twenty three receptions out of
the backfield as well. Like Kyle mentioned, that's over four
(27:23):
hundred touches in one season.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
I can't even comprehend.
Speaker 6 (27:26):
The mental and physical toughness that you have to have
to be able to do that on a week two
week basis. That is very impressive. But that tells me
as a GM, as a head coach, as an owner
of a football team, that he knows how to prioritize
his body, he knows how to be available. He knows
how to on a week to week basis.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
Go back, do the recovery and be available for his
team the next Saturday or the next Sunday. That's so important.
Speaker 6 (27:48):
We just heard Cede Lamb talk about spending fifty thousand
dollars every two weeks to take care of his body.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
Everybody laughed.
Speaker 6 (27:53):
But that seems like a small thing, but it's so
important at the next level.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
Nothing means more.
Speaker 6 (27:58):
To a coach, to a GM, to an owner than availability.
You have to be able to You have to be
available to play or I can't use you on the field.
I know, some injuries happen and you can't do something
about it, and and things like that, and some of
those freak accidents happen. But at the end of the day,
if you're not taking care of yourself and you're not
taking care of your body, you're hurting yourself, but you're
also hurting your football team.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
Ashon gent and my opinion.
Speaker 6 (28:17):
Is probably going to be the most explosive player out
of this draft and I can't wait to watch him
on Sundays.
Speaker 3 (28:20):
Well, and if you listen to.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
That story, I think Cody a lot of it has
to do with the fact that he had to wait
so long to finally get that football. Coming out of
the backfield, that exposure at ninth grade, he was fully
hooked and now he just wants to be available to
the best team that will take him. This week, omar
Owi is joining us this week with the Approach to
the News and news items include this week omar things like,
(28:42):
we got to get to know some of these quarterbacks
and wide receivers coming into the draft, and it's not
just about Draft night, it's how we lead up to
it in their life.
Speaker 11 (28:49):
Yeah, I can't wait to see how they celebrate. Some
will be in Green Bay with their families, others will
be at home. Really the culmination of so much hard
work to get this to get to this point and
then now the real work will begin with the twenty
twenty five NFL Draft. Rapidly approaching NFL prospects it's all
over the country are gearing up for the moment of
a lifetime for Oregon quarterback Dylan Gabriel and Missouri wide
(29:10):
receiver Luther Burden. The third the final stretch brings reflection, resolve.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
And the weight of what comes next.
Speaker 11 (29:17):
Let's look at their NFL Draft journeys in the latest
episode of Destination green Bay presented by Toyota.
Speaker 15 (29:26):
Yeah, we're like four weeks away from the Draft. I
don't think it hit me yet. You know, Dom about
to get draft hit.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
We're the twenty first pick in the NFL Draft.
Speaker 16 (29:37):
Today, we finished our last part of the pro day prep,
the last event in the pre draft process.
Speaker 15 (29:44):
Telling what's up, my brother, how you doing. It feels
great to be back in Miszoo. You know, see my
old teammates.
Speaker 16 (29:51):
Kind of a lot to take in on that this
is your last time throwing truly in the in the
ducks uniformal.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
This is where the standards are said.
Speaker 15 (30:01):
This is where we find out your next path in
our life.
Speaker 16 (30:05):
All that work that you put in for this dream
that you want to accomplish, and man, this is it.
Speaker 10 (30:11):
Johnnies comes from the air. No One's begin.
Speaker 8 (30:18):
Awesome stuff.
Speaker 11 (30:19):
Check out full episodes of Destination Green Bay presented by

Good Morning Wards Us. He stands, He Flyers.
Speaker 8 (30:55):
Sport's gonna take off.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
Here's the Whales.
Speaker 17 (30:58):
Tam Ward quarter down what abrow my ward shot intercepted.
Travis Hunter, cornerback, wide receiver, shooting the round.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
He is the best player in college football.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Travis Hunter.
Speaker 9 (31:17):
God here down at duel.
Speaker 17 (31:20):
Carter Edge dang not pay stopped a Carter gent Stock.
Jacks Ashton Genty running down.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
You want to run for Ashton gend.
Speaker 7 (31:39):
So those are some of the names that everyone expects
to come off the board in the first round of
the NFL Draft on Thursday night. Right now, I'm gonna
give you five names of players you haven't seen a
whole lot in the mock drafts, but you should not
be shocked if Roger Goodell introduces him in round one.
Let's start off with Carson Swessinger, linebacker from UCLA. He
was a walk on to that program, only became a
(32:00):
starter last year, but he led all of FBS with
ninety solo tackles. He can run, he can cover, he
could play all three downs. He's got a lot of
fans within the league. A very instinctive player. Doesn't have
the pass rush capabilities of a Jihad Campbell, but it's
a bunch of teams late in round one that need
an off the ball linebacker. Carson Schweestinger could be that guy.
Number two Ohio State wide receiver, a mecca at BUCA.
(32:23):
I got a bunch of responses when I mentioned it
before saved everybody thinks he's going in the first not
in the mock draft that are on NFL dot Com.
He was a highly productive slot receiver at Ohio State.
Speaker 8 (32:33):
Something.
Speaker 7 (32:33):
He's even more explosive than Jackson Smith and Jigba who
went in the first round a couple of years ago
coming off a Pro Bowl appearance. We've talked so much
about Tat McMillan and Matthew Golden. I would not be
shocked if ABUCA comes off maybe somewhere between twenty and
twenty five in round one. Georgia center Jared Wilson is
number three. That's definitely a name you've not seen in
any mock drafts. There's a lot of teams to project
(32:54):
Gray's abel from North Dakota State to center, but he's
never played that position. Jared Wilson is the top guy
who has actually snapped the football in games. He allowed
zero sacks on five hundred eleven pass block snaps last
season in his first year as the Georgia starter. Like
a lot of those bulldog centers. He's quicker than he
is strong. That's not gonna be a fit for everyone,
(33:15):
but centers tend to go. One of them usually sneaks
up into round one. Keep an eye on Jared Wilson
on Thursday Night. Number four nowther Ohio State guy, defensive
tackle Tyleek Williams. He weighs three hundred and thirty four pounds.
He is a big run stepper. Look how large this
man is. For some reason, he decided to run a
forty at his pro day show. Owt off how athletic
he is. He pulled a hamstring. It's not a major injury.
(33:38):
He'll be back in plenty of time for training camp. Here,
there's a bunch of really good defensive linemen in this draft.
You can see those names come off late in round one.
Tyler Williams is one. Maybe he can sneak up on
some people, unlike the actual Tyleerk Williams, who can sneak
about nobody.
Speaker 8 (33:52):
He's three hundred and thirty four pounds.
Speaker 7 (33:54):
Finally, number five, Louisville quarterback Tyler Shuck. Seven years of
college football, three different schools. He's got three or four
different degrees from different places. I asked him back at
the Senior Bowl, what are those degrees you actually gonna use?
He said, for now, I think I'm going to use
my degree in football. He finally put together a year
where he was healthy last season for the Cardinals, put
(34:16):
some good stuff on tape. He's helped himself through the
process because he played a pro style offense at Louisville.
He's got seven years of watching tape and being around
different types of offenses. Really impressed coordinators and coaches in
terms of how he talks about the game. He had
a lot on his plate at the line of scrimmage
at Louisville. Now there are some concerns because he's had
all those injuries, just about how that impacts his play style,
(34:38):
whether or not there's times he gets a little bit
skinnish against the rush. Realistically, Tyler Shuck. Probably more than
likely it's going to be a Day two pick. But
all it takes his one team to say we need
a quarterback. We know this guy can step in right
now and run our offense.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
Tyler Shock.
Speaker 7 (34:54):
I'll say it's a long shot, but would not be
a total shock if somehow he slips in a Round
one Thursday Night.
Speaker 6 (35:00):
Yeah, Tom, I'm gonna stick right there with Tyler Schuck.
I do like him as a prospect, and he impressed
me at the Combine. He didn't get a lot of coverage,
and I think he should have got a little bit
more hype by how well he performed throwing on the
on field workouts. But again, those seven years in college
that can be seen as a negative. I know the
injuries played a factor, but he said it very well there.
He knows how to go in and learn a new offense.
He can go out there and perform. He can go
out there and adapt to a new play style, calling
(35:22):
to a new system, to all these other things. That's
going to have to happen in the NFL because if
you are not a first round pick, if you become
a backup type player, which I think Shuck will start
out as, especially on his rookie contract, you may bounce
around a little bit, you may not fit in at
one place, you may have to go to another system,
but you're gonna have to learn on the fly if
you want to go out there.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
And compete for a backup spot.
Speaker 6 (35:40):
Like I don't know if Shuck will be in the
first round, but I'll tell you this, I'm not going
to go against Tom Pey if he thinks he has
a chance to go in the first round.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
That I believe it too.
Speaker 9 (35:48):
I always like the Chris Winky, Brandon Whedon, really old rookie,
like he's going to turn twenty six years old in
September of his rookie year, and that's great. I love that,
and it's experienced and it's the journey. But I have
to take you on a journey. Time in February, I
was in Orlando. I was working the Pro Bowl games.
I got to talk to Eli before the game and
I just said, Eli, who's impressed you on these Pro
(36:09):
Bowl rosters? Like who's really good in practice? And he
said Jackson Smith and Jigba. He's like, he's incredible. I
love this guy. That brings me to a mechag Buka
because you mentioned JSN in your comp as well, a
mechang buk excuse me, faster than JSN, far more productive,
slightly bigger. And yet we're sitting here and we have
to have a take about whether he might get into
(36:29):
the first round. Tell us more about why you like him,
and then Tom tell us more about this alleged flak
that you're taking for him including him in your list.
Speaker 7 (36:39):
You know, there's so many mock drafts, there's so many
expert DJ's got an eighteen on his top fifty player list,
but he didn't have him in his latest mock draft.
That's what happens because slot receivers, generally speaking, they tend
to slip down in the second round. The questions you're
going to be asking yourself, and I've talked with GMS
about this when it comes to a bookie, is number one,
can he play outside or is he strictly a slot
that's going to impact his value? And number two does
(37:01):
he play with the type of physicality and violence that
he's going to need at the next level. Listen, wide
receivers are not going to be for everyone. There's different styles,
there's different ways that coaches might look at these guys
in terms of how they fit into an offense. Here,
but you said it, a book has been highly productive.
He is an explosive type of a player here. This
is not a really strong up at the top wide
(37:23):
receiver draft. I don't think you have a consensus. I
know there's not across the league, and even who to
how to rank the one, two, three, four receivers in
this draft. It's just part of the drama that's going
to roll out on Thursday night.
Speaker 4 (37:34):
That man that I married, who went to the school
up north, is going to love the fact that I'm
going to hang with Ohio State when the guy that
I want to bring up, ty Leek Williams Kyle. We
fell in love with this prospect last week. He came
on GMFB, an absolute mammoth of a man. Tom mentioned him.
He's three thirty four now, but when he arrived in
Columbus he was three hundred and sixty pounds.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
He has whittled his way down to the dtackle that
he is.
Speaker 4 (37:55):
He is a shot put champion in high school, which
just has the get off me mentality when.
Speaker 3 (38:01):
It comes to his hand at arm strength.
Speaker 4 (38:03):
My favorite things about him include the fact that he's
got two cats, Mango and Somemore, that he brought on
the show. He constantly carries his three rings that he
won this year at Ohio State around, but also the
fact that if you do the fancy filter that we
have on NFL dot Com and NFL Plus and you
look at ten yards splits, which is just not the forty.
I don't care how a three threety pound man runs
(38:25):
a forty. I care about the first ten yards of
getting after a quarterback. He is the fastest. If you
look at that filter, one six' to, two one point
six to, two a three hundred and thirty four pound
man can get ten yards down the. Field, quarterbacks look,
Out Tyler. Williams he is my favorite.
Speaker 8 (38:40):
Construction on one.
Speaker 7 (38:41):
Side we have sat freaking, rollins and on the other
side we have K b.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Punk.
Speaker 18 (38:48):
Yeah of, course The Green Bay packers are trying to
eliminate the tush. Push of all the teams in the
league with absolutely no kahns is.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
The Green bedpackers just like my Man Kyle.
Speaker 18 (39:05):
Brandt look at, him The princeton pretty boy looked like
it's been an absolutely.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
Zero time in the.
Speaker 18 (39:13):
Gym you know why you want to because you wouldn't
last the second in that.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
Scrum but push is not.
Speaker 9 (39:20):
Real no one respects, it kind of like catching in
money in the bank at, wrestle.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
Make genuine article and everybody knows.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
It no fans actually like to touch. Push they like
