Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
It's Good Morning Football. It's Monday, July twenty eighth. Jamie
heard a Manday Tayo Isaiah standback Kyle Brandt in his
Lower Manhattan office space with the Polo the network Polo. Kyle,
great to see you this morning. We've talked Giants camp,
Lions camp, Steelers camp. What are we doing out here
in California? Three of us rent training camps for the day.
This is the time that we are going to spend

(00:33):
this hour. Kyle, you must listen to us because it's
not all about Lacrobe.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
No, it's not, especially since you guys were with the
Chargers and in I don't know three days, the Chargers
play a game in Can'ton, Ohio. And if you're not
fired up for Trey Lance versus Hendon Hooker, Chargers.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Lions, I don't want to know you.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
Let's start the show.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Good Morning Football.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
That's hi, Good Morning Football, Jamie, Manti, Isaiah, Kyle, Kyle.
I have a bit of a technicality question for you.
So as you just mentioned, Thursday night, Hall of Fame game,
first preseason game in the twenty twenty five season, which
means on Friday, we will have a real piece of paper,
as I like to say, and Kyle Brant holds it
with a highlight on it, and Kyle Brandt does the

(01:28):
honors of the highlight. However, Kyle, I hear that on
Friday you are going to be a Giants training camp.
So does that mean you are going to do the
highlight from training camp? Because like that's a flex.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Hey, listen, when it's Lions QB three, Kyle Allen thrown
a khalif Raymond, you don't make them. Wait, I will
do it from Mars if I have to a great question, Jamie,
I'll be with the Giants on Friday. I was with
the Steelers over the weekend. You guys were at all
different kinds of camp. We're going to get into it
as we continue to cover every training camp. Let's talk
about a team, Jamie that's a little under the radar.

(02:01):
I'm kind of a small market team that deserves some love.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
No, let's do it, because oftentimes the conversation just does
not steer itself this way. Editorially across many networks, we
want to make sure that we do rights by the
fans and the viewers. The Dallas Cowboys hope that Ceedee
Lamb and George Steam up to be one of the
premier wide receiver tandems in the league this upcoming season.
Colleen Wolf and Boom as I stand back, spoke with

(02:25):
Ceedee Lamb, who is thrilled to be working with this
new teammate, not only just on handshakes.

Speaker 5 (02:30):
Love looking down a sideline and seeing that guy over there,
and then obviously when we get one on one coverage,
we get.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
We both geanty.

Speaker 5 (02:36):
So that's wherever the ball goes that we know we
got to handle our business and do we got to
do as far as bringing it in, But we like
our chances.

Speaker 6 (02:42):
Obviously, the impact of having that three headed monsteret receiver
that can receive the ball, now, what does that do
to defenses?

Speaker 3 (02:48):
And what does that do to you in terms of
your matchup?

Speaker 5 (02:50):
She's the minus obviously if they're going to have the
times where they shadow or they cloud one another.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
One receiver, one target, but.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
Then obviously that's when the guy has to step up,
and it's kind of is more mandatory than not. And
we all understan that situation as soon as we understand
that we got the one on one coverage. We know
we got to win, and I mean, what better is
it going to have three ones and three guys that
can go get it and have and create space.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Cash CD Lamb looks primed and prepped for this upcoming season. Isaiah,
you were at camp, you are around the cowboys, You're
in the building all the time. How is this team different?

Speaker 6 (03:24):
I know it is gonna sound bad, but it's the
culture and it's the energy.

Speaker 7 (03:28):
And we had.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Opportunity to talk to couch Shop.

Speaker 6 (03:30):
I'm bad because people don't want to hear that.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Right.

Speaker 6 (03:32):
Most fans are like, oh yeah, what is culture? Why
is that so important? Listen, culture means everything. And we
get into that on with the interview with ceedde Lamb.
If you guys want to go check that out on
the dot com. But these guys are they're bubbly, they're excited,
and even though they're professional athletes, there's this connotation that
once your professional athlete, everything should be so serious. I
should be all ball. That's not the case. Man, this

(03:53):
is a game that you love to play. We heard
Aaron Rodgers say since he was a little kid, everybody
loves the game. You want to have that sensation back,
and that's exactly what coach Schttenheimer has brought back to
the Dallas Cowboys. He's taking a lot of his lessons
from Pete Carroll. So when you start thinking about the
energy that Pete Carroll had in Seattle and now he's
bringing in Las Vegas, that's.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Exactly what they're doing. You see it right here.

Speaker 6 (04:12):
Kyrie Elman goes out there and gets an interception and
he literally grabs a kid out of the crowd. He
creates a core memory, creates a core memory for that kid.
I'm sure the kid got given back at some point
in time.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
But the thing.

Speaker 6 (04:25):
Is, it's fun and these guys are competing. Everything is
revolving around competition, revolving around energy. Coaches are jumping up
and down, and we already know all the playmakers that
they have.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
They got Dak.

Speaker 6 (04:35):
Prescott, Ceedee Lamb, Just Ferguson, Jake Ferguson. Now that you
have George Pickins, Michael Parsons, Tramon Dicks, they have a
lot of big names. Once these guys are all healthy,
you add that with the culture and the coaching that
they have, this team should be pretty solid.

Speaker 8 (04:48):
Boach Zay, there's a big situation with Michael Parsons right
now being at camp, do you feel like that has
changed a little bit, because from our perspective singing it
on TV, it doesn't seem like it's taken away from
any juice, any.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Type of enthusiasm. Vote. How did it feel for you
being there?

Speaker 6 (05:04):
Yeah, it's business as usual. I mean, this is not
new to Jerry Jones or the Dallas Cowboys. And if
you listen to Jerry Jones speak, he talks about it.
He said, this is not new for the league, this
is not new for us.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
You know.

Speaker 6 (05:15):
He did the same thing with Ceedee Lamb. He did it,
the same thing with Diggs. He did the same thing
with We'll shoot everybody, right, that's what he does. Dak
Prescott played the first game that day, right of the
opening season. He got his contract. So this is going
to happen. Michael Parsons is one of the best in
the league at what he does. There's never been a
point in time in the history of Everdom for the

(05:35):
Dallas Cowboys under Jerry Jones that he did not take
care of his guys, right, So this deal is gonna
get done. They just signed Jake Ferguson to make sure
that that Dak Prescott has his or his weapons out there,
so there's no bad tensions.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
But it's a talking point that you have to have.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Yeah, of course, and like he's gonna be out there. Man,
we're certain givens for the Cowboys. CD is gonna be great.
I think Dak's gonna be great if he's healthy. Across
the board, there's things you can count on. The running
game is interesting to me, but more important I think, really,
if you're looking for a difference, look at the biggest
difference that they brought in.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
I think George Pickens.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Is the most pivotal player right now on the Cowboys.
Like that's gonna be the difference between do they win
in the.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Playoffs or do they not. I'll be candid.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
I was, as you guys know, it's just a Steelers camp.
I talked to somebody with the team, and I walked
away with the belief that, let's just say, no one
was shedding tears in the hallway of the Steelers' facility
when George Pickens was traded. I think there might have
been a sigh of release. I don't think it was
a relationship that would needed to continue for a lot
of reasons, and I don't think those reasons had to

(06:41):
do with football.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Fine, we've seen it a million times.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
You get a fresh start, new atmosphere and new teammates,
you light it up, and that's ancient history. Is that
the case is this guy just.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Plug and play a step in.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
He's gonna give you eighty five catches as your number
two receiver and.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Light it up.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
And I don't know, but I know that they need
him because DAK and CD is not enough, especially with
the running game is unproven.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
So we take the givens. I know that ced lamp
is incredible. I don't know if.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
George Pickens is incredible on the Cowboys. And if I
don't know if George Pickens is reliable on the Cowboys,
and if that sounds like I'm doubting, even being a skeptical,
he's earned it.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
So we'll find out.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
The most pivotal Cowboys player is the newest Cowboys player.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
You know, I'm not going to argue that point at all, Kyle.

Speaker 6 (07:22):
What I can tell you from my time at camp
and what I've seen in person is George Pickens and
Cedee Lamb are the new Bash Brothers. It's almost like
ceedee lamb is is now this new reinvigorated player because
he has another guy out there. For the longest has
been just CD. They've been able to roll covers, They've
been able to put cloud covers. Now you can't.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Now you can't. Now you have to respect that right.

Speaker 6 (07:42):
Do you have to make a decision do I want
to play man the man on CD and George Pickens,
or do I want to double one of them? Either way,
these guys are on stats to show that these guys
are some of the best deep ball receivers. These guys
are some of the best contested catchers, and both of
them are dangerous and they.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Can light you up.

Speaker 6 (07:56):
This is something that CD's been waiting on, and now
he has his brother on the opposite side of the field.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
It's a good point. I think a lot of people
thought and want to be a detraction maybe from the
ship or the relationship. We're to be a schism in
the locker room until we see that, we essentially have
to give the benefit of the doubt to the team
and say, like move forth as wide receiver one two.
We'll see how this goes. The Ears are perking up
in Philadelphia currently, as we talk about the Cowboys and
whether or not they will maintain their rivalry and have

(08:23):
it be heated as they always want it to be
against the defending Super Bowl champions of Philadelphia Eagles. So
they won back in February, and while that was just
five months ago, to Jalen Hurts and his teammates, the
motto is resets, not repeat.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
It's to be contagious, and.

Speaker 9 (08:40):
It's what you want everybody to have a similar mentality
and a similar approach and what we're trying to accomplish ultimately,
you know, and you talk about, you know, doing something
after success where it depends on where your eyes are
and what you hold on to, because I'll hold on
the twenty two and there's something you know, and many
other shortcomings. So those are things that you use. You

(09:01):
use this fuel and use the job before you know.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
All right, he looks cool, and by he, of course,
I mean Mike Garriffolo. Colleen Wolf. Let's get her in here, Colleen.
This is what you were put on this planet to do.
You and I once did a show live from your
favorite bar in Philadelphia. Like you are Miss Philly, waved
to the crowd there at the Nova care center. I
want to jump right into because I want to get
as much egos as possible. All Right, of all the

(09:27):
places we're gonna start, Colleen, I'm going to throw you
a curve ball.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
Let's talk about Uncle Vic.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Of course, Vic Fangio, the pride.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Of Dunmore, Pennsylvania.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
What's the standards state of the nation now with this
defensive wizard that won the Super Bowl form last year?

Speaker 10 (09:42):
Okay, well, I love the we're starting there because I
talked with some members of the organization and obviously they
are so excited about the roster that they have. But
the turnover on defense is one of the big changes
from last year to this year. The offense pretty much
remain set. But all of these changes and all these
new faces, how will Vic Fangio's multiple looks kind of

(10:04):
met with all of the new guys coming in because
they're younger. But the sentiment was this team is so
good and the young guys last year clicked so fast
and developed so quickly that now they're in a position
where they've drafted. Their first five picks were on defense.
They went linebacker, safety, defensive tackle, cornerback, linebacker, and if

(10:25):
it goes anyway, like it did last year with the rookies.
Then they're in really really good shape. Cooper de gene
right now, what they're doing with him. Aj Brown calls
him APC, which is all pro Coop. It's amazing what
Vic Fangio is doing with him. He does not want
him off the field ever. He is trying him on
every single position. He's getting all sorts of reps. And

(10:47):
then you have Jylex Hunt, who the second year player,
is popping off the edge. All of the players are
gushing over him. So they have a really good rotation,
especially after losing guys like Brandon Graham. They lost over
four thousand snaps of production on the defense, So that
is something to watch for sure during camp.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Maybe that's why the word should be reset. Colleen, awesome
to see you this morning. One of the least dramatic
conversations this offseason was the decision for the Eagles to
extend Saquon Barkley. It happened in early March. It was
like the first thing they did after cleaning up the
confetti from the parade. Everyone wants to know what this
running back can do on an Encore performance status. So

(11:29):
what do you make of this? Colleen, what can he accomplish?

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Well?

Speaker 10 (11:32):
I think he wants to know that too. I think
that is the main question. How does Saquon follow up
that performance over two thousand yards rushing. He won the
super Bowl. This is his first year here. He's a
local guy. I mean, he was so productive. And I
think what is really interesting is that he talked about
his performance in the Super Bowl and you would think, okay, cool,

(11:53):
like he wont a ring. Of course he's going to
be happy with it.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
He was not.

Speaker 10 (11:56):
He had a rough day, those are his words. And
he was talking about Steve Spagnolo in that defense, what
a great job that they did on him. And he
kind of looked back on a game in his second
year in the league and it was against the Jets
and he gained only one yard in that game, and
he said the super Bowl was even more difficult than

(12:18):
that game.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
So he's not happy with how he performed.

Speaker 10 (12:22):
And that's what you get when you have a team
that has such talent and then such high expectations. They
are so hungry still and they're so professional, all business,
even the rookies, top to bottom.

Speaker 11 (12:34):
This team looks so good, Colleen.

Speaker 6 (12:36):
Good to see my bodyguard again from a couple of
days ago. Hopefully you stayed cool out there, Oxnar was
a little cooler.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
Than where you're at. I'm pretty sure that.

Speaker 6 (12:43):
But I wanted to know about Jalen Hurts in his
fifth year. Jalen Hurts goes out there and wins the
Super Bowl, takes his team out there, He has a
little hilp by his boy Sakwan.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
In the defense.

Speaker 6 (12:54):
But what is going to be different and what does
he have to look forward to now in this coming season.

Speaker 10 (12:59):
Well with Jalen Hurts, now you have to think about
new offensive coordinator Kevin Patula. Now, he has been with
the organization already, he's been with Sirianni for four years.
On the sideline is where he's going to be calling
the plays. He's a first time play caller. This is
a great situation for Jalen since he's within the organization.
He knows these guys and these players and what they're

(13:20):
good at, how they can excel. But I think one
of the things that'll be a little different this year
is he'll have more freedom within the offense. And what
that looks like is something that I think everyone wants
to know. How that will look, I think they're trying
to push the tempo a little bit as well, work
a little bit faster. That was something that they weren't
happy with last year. But I think for the most part,
we're going to see a lot of the same things

(13:42):
because the roster largely has come over from last season,
so especially on offense. Obviously, this is a team that
is stacked and loaded.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
They're ready to go.

Speaker 10 (13:53):
This is going to be their first day in shoulder pads,
not pads, so that is a massive distinction. It is
day four of camp for them. There's going to be
Rita's Walk here, There's gonna be the Philadelphia pel Pretzel
factory here, There's could be all sorts of stuff. So, yeah,
it's gonna be great.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Colleen, I appreciate you trying to make sure that people
understand that it's Rita's water ice, but I need you
to put the appropriate pronunciation on the Rita's water ice
when you hear it. If you're going back home, I
want to give you permission to do that if you
feel so compelled. On national television. Yeah, wood Ice, it's
a clancy place, It's a fancy pvice. How else do
you say it? I don't think you understand, Colleen and

(14:33):
everybody the amount of skill it takes to go from
Cowboys training camp to Eagles training camp in about three
days time. Colleen, well, thank you very much. Somebody that
might understand it is the next two way player in
the NFL. That's Travis Hunter. We're going to check in
with Jaguars training camp to see how that talented young
athlete is working out on both sides of the ball.
It's something he did in college. Kyle is prolific. How's

(14:56):
it going to translate to the next level.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
I'll take it for I'll take that handoff.

Speaker 8 (14:59):
We saw a lot of handoffs Jamie at Chargers camp.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
We're gonna go over charges Gale's fun We.

Speaker 8 (15:03):
Had a bo I had a nice T shirt on
the brother and sister.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
We're over there covering it on Saturday. We're gonna go over.

Speaker 8 (15:10):
When we come back on GMFB, let's.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Go Harball was in Heaven with Mantis.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
Football.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
Look at this. We're interviewing Justin Herber. We get QB
one and then our co host Derwin James, who, by
the way, I want I can't let's just rerack it
immediately because I want you to see how quickly Justin
Herbert wanted to give the microphone to Derwin during the interview.
He was like, get me out of here as fast
as possible. Not because it was some terrible sit down

(15:49):
with Mantoni. Justin Herbert wants it to be about the game,
not about what he's saying. Take it, just take it please.
He didn't. And it was fantastic to have the time
from Justin Herber, but also Drwin, who co hosted GMFP
with us this summer. I learned a lot of TV
was so gracious at this time this summer and manton
and I, as you saw, we were at Charges training camp.
We also sat down with the head coach, which is

(16:12):
always an enlightening experience. From this second he walks up
to you and then he's just Jim Harbour's got this
or about him that when you walk away, you just
kind of want to see how he lives the rest
of his life. Here's the interaction with Harbaugh, and we're
gonna talk about the Chargers after. This man is always
going to bring the juice when it comes to viral
moments for social media, and this is just how Jim
Harball lives his life. Everybody coaches with us. Coach, what's

(16:35):
your stance on this moment, that is your moments of
training camp right now?

Speaker 7 (16:40):
I think I got a bum wrapped there.

Speaker 11 (16:41):
You know.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
It's a.

Speaker 7 (16:44):
I mean, it's it's kind of creepy the way they
you know, they they zoomed.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
In on it, you know, and that.

Speaker 7 (16:50):
If they would have just done the wide shot, you
would have it would have been it would have it
would have been self explanatory, right, what was going on?

Speaker 2 (16:57):
But it's very relatable. It's like, this is how I
look at pizza, but that's how you look at your
quarterback or your offense.

Speaker 7 (17:03):
Yeah, well I was. I was directing receivers behind the
screen which way to pop up and win, pop out
and win. It's it's an anticipation drill, a catching drill,
and a quarterback being able to scan the field having
a peripheral vision. So I was like, ah, they did
it to me again, you know, and uh.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
You know what I mean, and Jimmy and coach and I.

Speaker 7 (17:24):
Was like, and then my daughter Grace, who what does
she think of it?

Speaker 3 (17:27):
She thought it was funny.

Speaker 7 (17:28):
Thought was like, okay, well, gret sex is good, then
it's probably funny.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
Grace gives the approval and social media.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
Talking about your quarterback coach.

Speaker 8 (17:36):
You know, on our show in JIMFF, I picked you
and and Justin Herbert as my favorite duel in training camp.
And there's been a lot of talk around Justin Herbert.
What do you see in him when you when you
made that comment that everybody has to play to Justin
Herbert's level, What do you see in him that's maybe
different than last year?

Speaker 9 (17:52):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (17:53):
I see no difference.

Speaker 7 (17:54):
I want I want Justin to just be exactly who
he is, how he is. He does everything at the
highest level. I mean, he's he's a tone setter, he's
he's the example setter. What my comment was and this
is this is this is from the heart, this is
the truth. Justin Herbert's biggest weakness is all of all

(18:16):
of those that he's counting on on offense, coaches, offensive line, playmakers, receivers,
running backs.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
To get up to his level.

Speaker 7 (18:27):
You know, that's that's that's I wake up every day
to try to get to his level. So if you
you put us as the as the number one due,
I mean it's ninety Justin ten ten me.

Speaker 8 (18:37):
Yeah, I was talking to Khalil on Thursday when I
was here, and he told me a story about how
you guys are in six one fifties for your conditioning test,
and he was telling me that justin Herbert, after he
ran the six six, He's like, let me run eight,
and so he ran two more and he was just
telling me that to your point, Coach, that he's just
at a whole different level this year and it's exciting
for the Bulls.

Speaker 7 (18:57):
Yeah, I see him at the at the level, you know,
just just the highest level. I mean he's a quarterback
and first five seasons, nobody stone for more yards in
the history of the NFL. And uh, everything he does
is you know, you just don't change the thing. But
whatever it is conditioning, Uh it's it's too easy, you know. Uh,

(19:19):
everything we do is we've got to try to pull
him back, you know, because he uh you never have
to talk him in to doing anything. He's he's been
here every day. He uh him and Greg Roman, I
mean they're the they're the architects of the offense. They
know it the best. And uh, you know, I think, uh,
you know that's gonna that's gonna pay good dividends for us.

(19:40):
Everything we're doing now we're doing for a second time,
and uh, it's it's clear and obvious that you know,
all of us we gotta we gotta, we gotta put
the work in and get on his level.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
He's such a bright young man. I remember a couple
of years back he won the Campbell Award I think
it's called in college football is essentially the smartest academic
player in the sport that year.

Speaker 11 (20:00):
And he gave a speech and it was amazing.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
But those were him then have to soak in some
of that knowledge. I'm thinking of your rookie running back,
Amari and Hampton. What's he been like out here? You
smile just at the mention of his name.

Speaker 7 (20:12):
Yeah, you know, the first thing that hit me, Jamie
was Uh, I just loved how you know it.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
I said that dude's got.

Speaker 7 (20:21):
A shoulders and and uh, he's just so well trained.
And then as we go through the O t as
you go through the the mini camps, uh, the non
padded practices. I've never been around a running back that
when you do a running play in those those without
the pads, it's always a mush.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
You know, there is no hole.

Speaker 7 (20:43):
It's just you're just really getting a couple of steps
and then defense collapses.

Speaker 12 (20:48):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (20:49):
He's He's the only back I've ever been around that
can find out a hole. Yeah, you know, in that,
in that, in that mush, and I'm not I've yet
to see him running to the back of the pads
of an offensive lineman. Uh you know, other other indicators yet.
And he can run, he can pull away. Yeah, you know,
he's Uh, we're super excited about him.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
I'm so happy to rewatch that, Kyle. Unfortunately, for the
panic that I have for my picking of the playoff teams,
it may have just had a clear avenue to the AFC,
because you know that you kind of fall victim to
going to a team's training camp falling in love with him,
like total buy in, and Harbad delivered. So I think
I might have to put the Chargers in. I'm thinking

(21:32):
about it.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
I know, listen, the West is tough.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
You're hearing all this great buzz from Pete Carroll's Raiders camp,
and then the other two are kind of self explanatory.
It's it's really tough, but I.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
Get the buzz just watching that.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
I mean, you, guys, Jim Harbaugh can be an unwieldy
guy because he's eccentric. You guys did an amazing job
with it. There was a comfort there. I got fired
up talking about that running game. He said Mush like
six times.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
I feel like he's settled in.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
And you know, last year was just the welcome back
to the NFL, the year for Jim Harbuck get everything settled,
and of course ahead of schedule he makes the playoffs.
I think this year is when it's really like, all right,
now I got my guys. Now I'm going to reshape
the running game. Now my message is set in. It's
like it's year two. It's different. He's like a called
rookie quarterback, except he's a coach.

Speaker 5 (22:14):
Now.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
It's like in my vision, so I'll call it what
it is.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (22:19):
A week one, they're playing the Chiefs and like, what
do you got, coach? I love Mush, and I love
talking about how great Herbert is, but you got to
beat that that other head coach with the mustache across
the field.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
I love the interview.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
There's a lot to prove for the Chargers, but there's
a lot of excitement to him.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
So along those lines, Kyle I had this question for
him that kind of got lost in translation. Because I
may have made reference to one of the greatest rivalries
in college football, and I was trying to ingratiate myself
with the Harball by implying that it was Michigan Ohio State.
Then the Notre Dame guy on my other side has
to be like, oh, don't no think Michigan Notre it is.
We're good to whatever. We kind of lost track of
what I was trying to accomplish, which was the question

(22:58):
to Harbor. I asked, was is there room in the
NFL to breathe life into a rivalry That match is
something in college football And I'm specifically looking at the
AFC West because I think there's breeding ground for that here.
And he did make note that you know, every team
is good, but the bullies on the block have been
the Chiefs, and he referenced how many divisions they've won.
So I know that there's awareness for it, but I

(23:20):
know the Chargers want to be the reason why the
Bullies have to move down the block a little bit. Manti, Yeah,
I know.

Speaker 8 (23:25):
And what was great And to answer your point, your
point KB about it has to be different is as
a former Charger, it looked different, it felt different, It
sounded different.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
What I mean by that.

Speaker 8 (23:34):
Is we didn't get to watch a lot of the
practice because strategically, coach Harbo put his team at the
furthest field possible from all the cameras, so we couldn't
see it until we're done with all of our interviews. However,
I did get to see the walk through in Isaiah.
You know this, A lot can be said about a
walk through. Listen, when the huddle broke for the offense.

(23:55):
A lot of times when the receivers go out there,
you'll see them shuffling an inch or two to the
right of left because of alignment.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
There was none of that.

Speaker 8 (24:03):
Guys, like the huddle broke, receivers ran out there, a
shift happened, emotion happened, the ball was snapped, it was
christ it was clean there. The only talking came from
the players. There were no coaches saying, hey, let's rerun this.
Matter of fact, there were no reruns. Like the whole
it was a forty five minute walk through, Kyle, and

(24:23):
there was not one rerun.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
There was not one ball that was dropped.

Speaker 8 (24:28):
And when the receiver caught the ball, every defender converged
on the ball carrier.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
With the right, the right leverage, the right shoulder.

Speaker 8 (24:37):
It was an attention to detail that I have not
seen while I was a Charger, So that the feeling
and the look. Talking about the look, I talked. We
interviewed Joe Hortiz the GM, and I said, I looked
at the offensive line. Kyle was like, you, you obviously
have a type because that offensive line it's a wall,

(24:57):
like especially the right side.

Speaker 3 (24:59):
Of that line.

Speaker 8 (25:00):
Joe out six eight three twenty McKay Beckton sixty seven, Like,
these guys are just monster.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
So there's definitely a type and a look. And the
look is looking good for the for the LA Chargers.

Speaker 6 (25:10):
Yeah, I know you guys are raving about how big
the offensive line looks. And obviously they just took care
of their man, Yeah, mister Slater by getting him the
bag ninety two million dollars guaranteed on the contract. But
those guys have a type. Those guys have a style
of play. Coach Harball wants to control the ground game,
and you guys start talking about how tough the AFC
West is. Yeah, absolutely, those guys are absolutely nasty out there.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
How can you combat that?

Speaker 6 (25:32):
You can combat that by having some monsters up front
and making sure that you have the Slayers, that you
have the Mkai Becknas, that you have the Mario Hampton's
they hand.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
The ball off to.

Speaker 6 (25:40):
And if you can control the ground game and you
can take the opportunities away from the Denver Broncos and
away from the Knas City Chiefs, then you increase your
chances of winning ball games. But I'm looking forward to
seeing those guys control it in the trenches and when
they can turn around and hand it off to that
big bull back there, Hampton.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
That's gonna be nasty.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
Kyle, You're gonna love this. So we have Herbert sitting
there and he alludes to the fact that the offensive
line room is a fun hang and those guys are
always spending time together, and I try to go to
the next level. What do they do? What do you
guys do when you get together? He really consider whether
or not to actually tell the truth or just give
some I don't know, we just go to a steakhouse. No,
he did tell us that they like to do escape
rooms together, the quarterback and the offensive lineman. And Manti

(26:20):
had a great question, which was who's the guy that
always kind of provides.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
What's the wrong way.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
Always that bad idea and not any sooner did justin
Herbert sa Rashaun Slater and then the next day the
Chargers pay the man. He's a great protection, but like
apparently not a good teammate. In the escape room scenario,
Kyle Well, I.

Speaker 1 (26:42):
Love the escape room thing because, let's be honest, the
Chargers escape room is the wild card round, Like that's
tires are themselves one big escape room trying to escape
from themselves. So it's perfect that they're practicing and I
love that and maybe they will this year.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
Yeah, yeah, he gets to say that.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
Much.

Speaker 2 (27:05):
No lies arotected good vibes. Only Derwin's sneaking up on
us like he's trying to pick off Patrick Mahomes. He's like,
I'm just gonna.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
Lurk.

Speaker 12 (27:13):
No.

Speaker 2 (27:14):
I just was entertaining because he gives Herbert a fathead
of himself here. He's like Tustin's like, get me out
of the world war put him on the list. Front
of the show. On our first day, what we call
our unofficial start of the twenty twenty five season on GMFB,
we got to have a defensive end from the Atlanta
Falcons coming in Morgan Fox, Good Morning, to you, Morgan,
Glad to see you've seen it in some air conditioning.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
Good morning, good morning, Thanks for having me. It's nice.

Speaker 13 (27:38):
It's so early so it's not too hot, but it's
definitely nice to be inside in some AC on an
off day, not outside cooking in the eat.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Your story is so cool, Morgan, and you were just
telling us in the commercial that ten years this is
the start of your ten season in the NFL. Such
an accomplishment, but it's your first with the Falcons. How's
everything going. How's the veteran body holding up?

Speaker 3 (28:02):
It's holding up great.

Speaker 13 (28:03):
I've been really fortunate to have good vets going into
the league. That told me from a young age, take
care of your body. So I've done that for a
really long time. So I feel great. You know, sometimes
you can sneak a little like I'm a old man
in there to kind of get a little bit of
a break, but just quick little vet moves. But other
than that, I feel awesome. Being here has been great.

(28:23):
The staff's awesome. Coach ra Him, Coach Nate, like all
these guys.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
Have been great.

Speaker 13 (28:28):
The team's really open and welcoming, so it's been a blast.

Speaker 8 (28:33):
Yeah, margare you talk about you being a VET now,
he said ten years.

Speaker 3 (28:36):
Man, that's a long time.

Speaker 8 (28:37):
There's a lot of lessons, and there's some lessons I
think that you could teach some of your young guys.
I think there's some skirmishes that happened at camp that
may have went a little bit too far.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
Tell us a little bit of how how.

Speaker 8 (28:49):
Can we balance that dance between intensity and going and
crossing that line.

Speaker 7 (28:54):
Man.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
You know, at the end of the day, it's camp.

Speaker 13 (28:56):
That's that's one of the hardest things is you know,
it's hot, tensions are high. You know, you start getting
in past the first couple of days, everybody gets a
little bit, a little bit chippy, somebody feels that somebody
hit somebody too hard with or without pads, and then
you know, scuffles break out. You know, at the end
of the day, especially in the front, you want that
You want that ed. You want guys that are willing
to go to bat for each other, that are willing to.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
Kind of brawl a little bit.

Speaker 13 (29:19):
You know, I grew up with vets in the league
that you know, you were you know, things win a
certain way. You were kind of expected to get into it.
But there is a line there is a you know,
and coach coach Raheem is great about going over it
is at what point are we wasting time? At what
point are we wasting reps? When we get into it.
But at the end of the day, the best thing
you get out of it is you know who has
whose backs in those situations. And as much as it

(29:40):
is a waste, you know, does waste reps or time,
there is you know, a unifying element to see that. Hey,
everybody comes together, dust each other off, like it's over,
Let's get back to work.

Speaker 6 (29:50):
Morgan Man year two under coach Raheem Morris. Last year
did not go as planned. Things changed up a little bit.
Now you have my guy from you, Michael Pennix. You
know you're out there at the QB position. They went
ahead to get you some help in the defensive end room.
So you guys a loaded to go get up their
pass rush. Why are you guys going to get to
the postseason this year?

Speaker 3 (30:10):
This is your thirties. Is your pitch to the fans as.

Speaker 6 (30:12):
To why you guys are going to do so well
this year?

Speaker 13 (30:14):
Man, you know, I'm not a big prediction guy, but
just from the stuff I've been around, you know, just
getting here this year. What's really cool to see is
the details and the focus from top to bottom, from
staff to players, from everybody in the building. The focus
is on winning games and being the best we can
be every play. You know, you see that the quarterback position,
you see it, you know, through the whole offense and

(30:35):
then on defense. You know, with the amount of young guys,
we have just everybody being so locked in and together
and being welcome into each other. But then you know,
holding each other to a standard. I think that's a
big thing is you know, we have a standard of operation,
we have a standard of playing, and it's you have
a mark of a good team when everybody's holding each
other to it.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
You know what, Morgan, You're ten years in and part
of a good team is having good people. You do
so many things off the field, and we see the
logo off your shoulder right now. As part of the
NFL Salute to Cer this program, you have this bond
with the Wounded Warrior Project for something called Project Odyssey,
the Project Odyssey initiative.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
Tell us what that is, tell us all about it.

Speaker 13 (31:14):
So the Project Odyssey, it's a twelve week program for
veterans first responders, people post nine to eleven who served
in combat, or you know, in various fields that come
back with PTSD some kind of mental health issue. And
it kicks off with like a five day like nature retreat.
Almost you're outside, you're doing stuff, and it brings a

(31:35):
bunch of like, you know, strangers together, and then it
teaches everyone that there's coping mechanisms and that you're not
the only one going through what you're going through. At
the end of the day, you might meet someone that
is going through the exact same mental health problem. Learning
to bounce those issues off of each other, learning to
be vulnerable, learning to talk, learning to breathe, and then
hopefully these lessons lead to a lifetime of change and

(31:58):
you know, the at the end of the day, ultimately
learn how to you know, hopefully save a life and
or help you co going forward and equip you with
the tools that when you do, you know, fall into
that hole, you can climb out of it.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
Morgan. Oftentimes when players engage in initiatives like this, the
people at the weekend or the experience, perhaps they want
to know so much about you, but maybe when you
walk away, you wanted to learn something from them. Did
you take away anything from being around these veterans that
were at Project Odyssey Initiative?

Speaker 13 (32:28):
Yeah, I took a lot from them at the end
of the day. You know, I grew up in a
military family, so a lot of these service members, either
the people I had a lots growing up. These are
the toughest of the tough, the baddest of the bad,
and being able to watch them come in and be
vulnerable is something that.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
I took from it.

Speaker 13 (32:44):
You know, football in the military share a lot of similarities,
especially in the fact that we moved through our life,
like being told, you know, from the time of your kid,
just be tough, be handle it, handle it, don't worry
about asking questions, suck it up, like deal with it,
You'll be fine. And then watching veterans who have been
told the same thing being in the military, and then
watching them learn to talk and unload it and be

(33:06):
vulnerable and share this space with others so that they
can gain better, better bearings on their mental health is
something that I took from them a lot, as watching
these people that I idolize as the toughest start doing
things they needed to do for their mental health.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
It's important the fact that you're even just saying this
outout on national television, Morgan. So the more people hear
this lesson and see footage like that, everything that project
Ottyssey has going on, it's fantastic work. We appreciate you
so much, Morgan Fox. Everybody and his Wounded Warrior project
work is fantastic. Well done, Morgan, appreciate you.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
Thanks for everything.

Speaker 2 (33:40):
Stay healthy. We'll see you soon. Come back anytime to
chat about whatever you got going on with the Falcons
and beyond on GMFB Southome.

Speaker 3 (33:48):
You guys want me.

Speaker 13 (33:49):
I live down the street in the off season, so correct.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Okay, good to know. Well, if you are a two
way player in the NFL, how do you go about
your workday? We got to check them with the rookie
Travis Hunner who's just figuring out how to navigate this
with the Jaguars, going to hear from him next.

Speaker 3 (34:15):
Good football.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
I'm not sure there's been more speculation about a player
entering the NFL draft, more something to talk about worthy
topic than what Travis hunter was going to do wherever
he decided or whoever picked him in the draft to go. Well,
he's in Jacksonville now. Sherry Burris, we know the answer
to that, and then it was which side of the
ball is it going to be on. We're starting to
find out these answers. How are the Jags handling this

(34:42):
prolific athlete.

Speaker 14 (34:43):
Well, if it's not hard enough to have a full
time job just on offense or defense, Travis Hunter trying
to do both. Reports today coming out from camp that
he is back on offense today after the last couple
of days we saw him practicing on defense. But the
question still, Jamie, is what exactly is this going to
look like in season? Well, he explained to Day in
the Life of Travis Hunter too, are camelf and Bucking Brooks.

Speaker 15 (35:06):
Listen, can you give us an idea of what the
schedule looks like for you, Like a day like today,
you get that paper on yours, what does that look like?

Speaker 16 (35:14):
I just I'll say I probably I came out here
on defense, So my first meeting was on offense, and
then after that meeting, I went straight to defense, got
ready for practice, came out here on defense, specially teams
going on offense, and then I'm back on defense for
the rest of the day through all the team piers
and seven on seven and then offense again for the
last special teams, and then I'm back on defense the
remaining of practice. This after we get done with this break,

(35:35):
I go in there with defensive meeting and then I
go to the offensive meeting for the rest of the day.

Speaker 3 (35:38):
Man, it just sounds like you're juggling so much.

Speaker 12 (35:40):
I don't even do that.

Speaker 5 (35:41):
Nah.

Speaker 12 (35:41):
I know you've been doing this since high school, but
like one of the things as a pro is like
just managing your time and all that other stuff. Why
is this so easy if you're in terms of just
being able to kind of flip your brain from offense
to defense and play at a high level.

Speaker 16 (35:55):
Because it's a game, Like I said, I've been playing
since I was a little kid, So all the terms are,
you know, regular to me. Now, I just got to
go out there and learn the playbook and just do
my job. Get a playbook after work and then I'll
be good.

Speaker 15 (36:05):
I know you've spent some ext your time with Trevor
after practice sometimes catching went to the Bahamas with him,
and what now, how would you describe your relationship with
Trevor and maybe how your personalities compare.

Speaker 16 (36:16):
I'm trying to I'm getting them outside of his box.
You know he liked he I'm trying to teach him
what love dance was, how to get jiggy a little bit. Okay, okay,
So we've been having a fun time though nobody knows about.
Behind the scenes, we always working out, We're always doing
something so we can get that time in connection.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
Right. What's Trevor's rhythm?

Speaker 11 (36:31):
Like?

Speaker 15 (36:31):
Is he getting those dances down?

Speaker 11 (36:33):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (36:33):
He yeah, you get that song?

Speaker 2 (36:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 16 (36:38):
No, practice, a little bit more practice, Yeah, a little
bit more practice.

Speaker 15 (36:41):
Have you figured out what that first celebration gonna be
when you get it touched down?

Speaker 3 (36:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 16 (36:45):
I got a couple under my belt. I'll still be
in the house, you know, when we get off the work,
trying to see what I'm gonna do. But yeah, I
got a couple. Yeah, a couple is different, one for
offense versus defense. Yeah, it's definitely different. They got to
be different. Yeah, you're keeping those under rats for now? Yeah,
under rats for around. I can't let nobody steal them.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
My goodness, did you hear the man? Not only did he.

Speaker 14 (37:04):
Go through his entire schedule, which I would probably need
to hear that back again.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
I don't know how he do he does it?

Speaker 14 (37:10):
But Isaiah, he also is incorporating dance practice somehow into
different celebrations on top of all of this.

Speaker 6 (37:18):
Yeah, first of all, the fact that he's out there
doing all these meetings. And I was just telling the squad.
When I was in New England, I came in as
a quarterback, so I was in a room with Tom Brady,
and then I would go to receivers meetings and I
was in there with Randy Moss and then I would
go to special teams. So I know a little bit
of what he's going through, but not to the capacity
of him. And the fact that he's finding time to
find to go home and then study dance moves. Yeah,
I'm not sure how he makes all the time in

(37:39):
the day.

Speaker 8 (37:39):
Yeah, I got to give credit to you to him,
to guys like Scott Matt Locke. You know, I was
at the Charges camp and I talked to him Becausecott
also plays kind of both ways, and he was telling
me a little bit about the challenges of that of
meeting changes in practice.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
I have to go here to hear and so I
know it's a.

Speaker 8 (37:53):
Different it's a different situation from him and a number
two pick overall, you know, I can assume, But I'm
interested to see, guys of how this kind of plays
out as the season goes, how that snap count kind
of kind of plays out.

Speaker 3 (38:08):
But I'm excited for him, I really am.

Speaker 1 (38:10):
I gotta ask my guy, Cam Wolf, what do you mean,
how's Trevor Lawrence's rhythm?

Speaker 3 (38:16):
Where are you going with that? Cam?

Speaker 1 (38:18):
Trevora Lawrence is an elite athlete, built in a labb
He's the number one overall. He was drafted higher than
Travis Huner. What do you mean how's this rhythm? He's incredible?
His rhythm is fantastic. What is that question? I love you, Cam,
It's a great question. I love that the Jaguars are
actually doing this thing like that. You could bring him
in and say.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
No, no, no, no, no no.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
I know he has both sides of the ball in college,
but we are right now gonna solely devote him to
offense or defense.

Speaker 3 (38:45):
And especially with the new head coach.

Speaker 1 (38:46):
Credit to Liam Cohen saying, now, this is why we
got him.

Speaker 3 (38:49):
We're doing both.

Speaker 1 (38:50):
He's gonna practice here, He's gonna practice here. It would
be very simplistic and redundant to just try to, well,
we're gonna crawl before we can walk.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
No, they're trying to run before they can walk, And
I like it. Why the hell else would you get them?

Speaker 2 (39:02):
How's your rhythm?

Speaker 3 (39:03):
Savage? But I'm not Trevor Lawrence. I'm not even close
to Trevor Lawrence.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
Across the coast, it's happening. It's happening inside training Camp
live Noody Stern on NFL Network, and it rolls on
reportedly allegedly effectually, it's like eight or nine or ten
hours and you can catch it all right here plus.
If you have NFL Plus go check it out there,
and we're just going to take you all the way
through training camp. Our team, our fleet of reporters are

(39:38):
out there, boots on the ground inside. Training camp continues today.
But while you wait, here's the best of back together weekend.

Speaker 4 (39:45):
Check it out.

Speaker 3 (39:47):
We are back. Football is back.

Speaker 5 (39:51):
The number one advice that I got coming into the NFL.

Speaker 3 (39:54):
Is just be yourself.

Speaker 8 (39:55):
Not like I feel like I have to go improve myself,
but damn I want to go out there and show
everybody that I'm the guy.

Speaker 1 (40:01):
This guy's been on the air as long as Braisen
out of me.

Speaker 4 (40:04):
He is still on two, still on That's impressive.

Speaker 13 (40:06):
I think the biggest thing for me is is helped
this football team win, you know, get us to where
I see a little man in the background, and.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
This is just how Jim Harball lives his life. Everybody,
I don't think I got.

Speaker 3 (40:16):
A bum wrapped there.

Speaker 5 (40:17):
You know it's you know a couple of times I
got caught last year.

Speaker 3 (40:20):
