Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
I'm starting to have back to school anxiety already on
July whatever. It's Good Morning Football, July fourteenth, on Monday.
If you will, I'm Jamie or Almanta Taylkabra. And it's
only because of the popsicle sticks and the scotch tape
that was broken out today to create our Moving the
Sticks segment that we were about to do on GMFB.
We've got quarterbacks like a deca cards in hands, Kyle,
(00:31):
what are we making of this?
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Well, this is all guys from the same draft class.
We've got Sam and Josh and Baker and Lamar. But
I just got to say, wherever you are, you're probably
closing some business deal right now. Josh Rosen, I stand
for you too, my man. I was a big fan
of yours. I feel like you should be part of
the segment.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
I'm sure Manti loves you. We will do this segment
and nine our of you buddies.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Yes, Roland get here, good football.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Yeah, that's right GMFB on a Monday. Welcome in. We
got a toime to get to today. Manta, you got
a top five lists coming again today.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
I love lists.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
You love list.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
I love list guys. This JMB is another.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
List the list Monday. Last week, we had a very
long conversation about the half a dozen quarterbacks that were
drafted in last year's class twenty twenty four. That is
child's play. At this point, we're talking about this draft class.
Remind the people again, Kyle, the year is twenty nineteen eighteen,
exactly the twenty eighteen NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
All right, So this was the draft.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
It was in Jerry world, it was in Texas, and
for so many, for a very very long time, everybody
thought that Sam Donald's gonna be number one pick, and
the Browns had the pick, and they were at his
workout in USC and mister Haslam was in the stands
with the Donald family and it was done. And then
this guy just came running and Baker Mayfield shocked everybody.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Going number one. Okay.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Then you had Josh sh Allon coming out of Wyoming.
Nobody knew the Bills took him. Josh Rosen did go
we're not even mentioning him. And then Lamar Jackson, who
actually was the Ravens' second pick in this draft.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
They went up. They got him.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
It was Assi Newsom's last pick as the Ravens GM
and the Lamar has become Lamar. So it gets compared
to the nineteen eighty three class, which is the Gotus class,
and so we're gonna have a segment with them. But again,
Josh Rosen, I loved you. It was said you were
the most pro ready of all the quarterbacks the Cardinals drafted,
and then the very next year they drafted Kyler Murray.
So I love these guys and miss Josh Rosen.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Let's play a game, all right, Let's do it. Move
the six is what we're gonna call it, Kyle just
it was perfect. The twenty eighteen Animal Draft class, they
were in attendance. A bunch of these guys were at
the American Century Championship over the weekend. There is one
of the picks. Yeah, with the big group, that's that's Darnold,
Josh Allen and Baker in the middle there along with
the guys. Of course, I think they're carrying the bag
(02:57):
if you will. Lamar Jackson, I don't think he's a
big golf guy, so he wasn't there over the weekend,
but we're gonna put him on his popsicle stick and
give him his right. Has he earned the ability to
be a part of this prolific segment that we have
in front of us? All right? So the twenty eighteen
class quarterbacks, we're looking at you first topic, which quarterbacks
training camp? Of these four are you most intrigued by
(03:19):
Mantai take your pick, put up your popsicles, yes, sham
by it.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
So if I'm looking at my picks, three out of
the four already.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Established at their teams. Three out of the four.
Speaker 5 (03:29):
And if anybody don't know about training camp, if you're
establishing you're a veteran, most likely you're not going to
practice all that much. You're going to have veteran days.
And this guy that I'm going to pick is Sam Donald. Now,
Sam Donald, he is going to have some veteran dager
just based on what they paid him. But there's a
lot of questions as to how they're going to utilize them.
We got Clint Kubiak over there, who was offensive coordinator
for the Saints last year, And what does Clint Kubiak
(03:51):
want to do? He wants to run the ball, So
how does that fit with Sam Donald. Sam Darnald now
has new Targets and Jackson Smith and Jigbaw and Cooper
Cup How is that going to factor into his success
this year? We saw what a year he could have
last year, but that year was with.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
The Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
It was with Justin Jefferson, it was with Kevin O'Connell.
Now the biggest question is what is it going to
look like with new threads And so if I'm going
to watch any quarterback out of those four, Kyle, It's
going to be mister Sam Darnold.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Yeah, it's probably the right answer.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
You know, none of the rest of these guys are
having new teams or new coaches.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
They're not coming off injuries.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
I just you know, it's between these two guys, and
just for the sake of it, I'll go with this.
Josh gets the same questions every camp, how we look
in this receiver's not here?
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Can you beat the Chiefs? On and on and on.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
He always comes up with new, inventive ways to answer them.
He's got this thing where they go out to training
camp and he always plays the final scrimmage in this
red helmet in its legendary and they're trying to say,
will the Red Helmets make a debut for the Bills
this year in a real game. Josh Allen's just running
it back again. Every year they lose to the Chiefs,
it feels like, and then every year I have to
show up in the camp and explain why they won't
this year. So he's the raining MVP guy. He had
(05:05):
the bet with the amazing season, he did all the highlights.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
He's always a show. He looked great in Short's not
gonna go with Josh Allen.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
I'm gonna go with Baker Mayfield for this one. I
feel like the Tristan worst thing. The injury is really legitimate,
I think for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But moreover, I
feel like we people are wholly unfair to the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers at time. We are constantly trying to justify
some other reason a different team in this division should
beat the Buccaneers. And they've proved to us for the
(05:31):
last couple of seasons, and specifically with Baker Mayfield with
his contract in hand, why that they don't deserve to
be atop this division. Yet they have proved people wrong
here and in you're out. So Baker Mayfield, who's constantly
wearing the contrarian hat who is justifying himself on his
fourth team and finally got that big deal, and his
personality and the best way possible has truly come out
(05:52):
in this juncture in his career. But I'm watching him
to see what kind of season? What kind of tone
can you say with this bucckeers, Can you just matter
of fact? They take this division from the jump and
put away all these falcon supporters and all the Panthers
could be the Cinderella team because Baker Mayfield could stand
up with on his popsicle stick here and put the
entire division on his shoulders and say, nah, not this year.
(06:14):
It's gonna be the Bucks again. All right, topic too,
if you had to pick one of these quarterbacks to
beat the Chiefs, too bad, we don't have a fifth
popsicle stick for Joe Burrow Mantai. Who would you pick
if you could pick one of these guys from the
twenty eighteen classes.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
Well, Josh, Josh. He's really good at beating Patrick during
the season. It's the question is in the playoffs and
you got Lamar, who's you know, same kind of thing.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Now, there's one quarterback that last year.
Speaker 5 (06:39):
His name is Baker Mayfield that took the Kansas City
Chiefs to overtime. And now people may be thinking, oh, well,
what's the big deal, Well, he didn't have Mike Everett
Evans and Chris Godwin. So you're talking about a quarterback
who lined up against the Super Bowl champs about to
play in the Super Bowl that year as well, with
not his number one and not his number two wide
(07:00):
receiver in the game, and he did it, and he
took him to the to overtime earlier in this season.
It's just somebody who I see in Baker Mayfield. He's
always competitive, he's always going to will his team to win,
and he's always going to compete. So if I had
to pick anybody guys.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
It would have to be Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
I mean, I'll go with Josh Allen just because you
mentioned it, man Ty like he's beaten the Chiefs multiple times.
Granted it's always in the regular season, and sure enough,
Week nine at Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
The Chiefs are going to go to the Bills. I
think even Chiefs fans at this point know they're going
to lose that game. That's just kind of what happens.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
They lose in the regular season and they never lose
in the playoffs. You got to just think at some point,
nobody ever thought Peyton was going to beat Brady. It'll
never happen. It did happen. It happened in two thousand
and six. He got him Indianapolis. Brady throws a pick
to Marlon Jackson at the end of the game. At
some point probably maybe it'll happen, but the fact that
(08:00):
he has done it multiple times, I mean, I can't
pick the rest of these guys.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Is even Lamar. I would go with Josh Allen just because.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
It maybe regular season a postseason can happen eventually.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
See, I am going to pick somebody who I think,
Kyle you just said it was in the other part
of your hand of your collection here. I think in
order to be Patrick Mahomes, if you're in the AFC,
you're Lamar or Josh even Joe Burrow, Like this has
become a highly emotional matchup, like it's hard to take
him down. You got to be hardened sometime in the
best way possible. You got to be like the entire
world was down and out against me. Several franchises over
(08:33):
and Sam Donald finally figured his business out in Minnesota,
last year. I'm not saying this Seahawks team is the
one that could do it, but quarterback to quarterback. For
some reason, I feel like Donald could mess around and
be like I've seen worse. I've seen like the bottomless
pit that is the machine of NFL critiques and critics,
and I think Donald could do it if anybody. I
don't know why.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
It's said, Jamie, so you're talking about your referms, but.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Jalen hurts just like I have no emotion about this.
I Am just going to get the job done and
be all business. I feel like Darnald Puss that in
him a little bit, all right. Topic three, Superman is
out now and is the number one movie from over
the weekend. Kyle, did you see it?
Speaker 3 (09:06):
No, not yet.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
My son is at camp, so when he gets back
from camp, I'm going to take him.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
I'm definitely going.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Though apparently people say it works, it lands, it's good,
Like maybe it's not the best movie ever, but you're
gonna like the characters, You're gonna like the movie.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Cinema's back, guys. I will be going next week.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
That's perfect, okay. Based off of Superman, pick one of
these quarterbacks and which one would you trust to save
you man Piperhaps out of a burning building, or you
just find yourself in a bit of a pickle, you
got to rely on one of these guys.
Speaker 5 (09:33):
Well, well, Jamie, if you're talking about a hero, somebody
that's going to save you, they have to have more
regard for your welfare than their own. And the only
guy that I could think about of these four is
mister Baker Mayfield. If you're running over a future Hall
of Fame linebackers in the game, if you're blocking fifty
yards down the field for your running back, if you're
doing all of those things, donating to hurricane. Really, he
(09:54):
is somebody who really cares about other people than himself.
You can tell by the way that he plays this
game how he really. Matter of fact, I think you
heard his shoulder one time, and you're still throwing blocks
out there for his teammate. So this is somebody who
I trust will go out there and try to save me.
Now will he save me? I'm not sure. I'm not sure,
but I know you'll try.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
All right.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
It's this guy, I mean, this is I want these superpowers,
this is the Kryptonian power. If I'm tied to like
a railroad track or something, and the train is coming.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
I need speed. I need a steady hand.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
I don't need a lot of talk going on, and
none of this banter between Clark and Lowess or whoever
the hell I'm Jimmy Olsen. Just get me in, pick
me up, and get the hell out of there as
fast as possible.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Lamar not close for men.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Because if this is in the spirit of Superman, and
the fact that we are talking about is Kyle says,
cinema is back and a true Hollywood ending, it's Josh
Allen for me. All right, do you see who this
man married over the summer, an actual movie star? Okay,
who could play like the next Lowest Lane in five
or ten years when we remake this movie again. Josh Allen,
(10:59):
You're probably gonna be in a Superman when it's remade
in five or ten years. You have your own production company.
Now you're all mister Hollywood in the best way possible.
Josh Allen actually is having the movie ending at least
in the beginning to his beautiful romance with his new bride.
Congratulations of those two. But for me, it's this one,
which quarterback you because he could be actually he does
wear a cape at times. Last one. We have many
(11:20):
golf debates on this show. We do, so here's another
one which one of these quarterbacks would you want to
share your golf cart with for a round of golf?
Speaker 5 (11:29):
Man tie, Well, I'm not that big of a golfer.
I love watching golf, but as far as playing golf,
I'm not that big in the sport. But three out
of the four went to the Century Tournament and one
of them didn't. And I actually saw this guy swing
a bunch of clubs in twenty twenty two, and he
seems like Mike Knt.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
He seems like my type.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
Of flavor, that we're just going there to have fun.
We're just going there to be with the fellas, just
talk story.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
Where was that?
Speaker 5 (11:54):
It was that like some little all monment down there
in I don't even know if that, Oh, that is
Lamar because I remember the shoes he had, the Air
Jordan one light blue shoes. That is Lamar, And he
talked about in his tweet that he wanted Tiger Woods
to give him some lessons. So if I'm going on
a golfing trip, I would love Lamar with me, because
he's not going to take it serious and he's just
going to be there.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
For a good time.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Perfect.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
All right, So this guy is way too famous. I
don't want to be in the cart with him. Way
too famous and way too good of a player. I
don't want that kind of attention. Same deal here, all charisma,
very good golfer, a lot of fanfare. I don't want
that kind of attention. I thought about this just a
little soft spoken and really really nice guy. He'd probably
be fun to drive around with. But again, I'm with Mantai.
(12:36):
I don't golf. I'm terrible, And there's nothing better than
when you're pulled out to a bachelor party or something
when you find someone else who might suck at golf
and you're like, hey, are you bad too? Do you
want to just get really messed up for the whole time?
Speaker 3 (12:49):
Yes, and we'll get in.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Likely it'll be like the Zenmobile or whatever the hell
you want to do, and it's eighteen holes in you're
doing a whole bunch of gatorad and Tito's and like
you don't care, and you don't half the holes, you
don't even play. Maybe he shot and just go back now, Lamar.
I don't know if that's your thing, but I know
it's my thing, and I'd be happy to do it
with you.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
If you don't golf much.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
You and I are going to have the most fun
golf cart by far, while the rest those guys get
pissed that they didn't break seventy five or what the
hell ever. You and me, buddy, with nips and the
golf cart, Girl, we're gonna do it.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Add me to that kid, girl.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
This right here there were images of these three guys
interacting with each other and Trevor Lawrence at the golf
tournament over the beginning of Tahoe. Right here, this is
a foursome that in a golf tournament that I would
want to be a part of. Do you know how
much beer is probably consumed when these guys are not
working out? Between these three and myself, I love beer, Okay,
this is the name of the game for Jamie. I
(13:41):
do too. And so it's like, Kyle, your frustration with
golf is just shocking to me. Still, It's just I
don't it's disconcerting. After a conversation pick aball golf like
this is these three just crushing beers and myself and
playing golf in some beautiful location. I'm sure they want
to be good, but I bet we can play around
the golf and they don't care that much. We care
(14:02):
more about the clink of the cans by the end in.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
The back of your pigure.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
All three, I'm big at all three. We're going to
force them to play golf, and that's what that's what
we're doing. Can we have just one more thing? Can
we bring up those pictures of Lamar again? Why do
these photos of Lamar Jackson golfing just look like somebody
told him, Lamar, stand there and hold the club just
to make it look like you're golfing. And then the
one of him getting in or out of the cart,
there's no Instagram tag, there's no nothing. It just is like,
(14:27):
come on, now, stand over here and pretend like you're
getting out of the golf cart like we're playing a
round of golf. Kyle, this is just feels like a
strange golf catalog photo shoot for a man that doesn't
even play.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
Unbelievably strange.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
If you told me in the first picture that he
actually didn't even hit the ball.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
He's just standing in there. There's no lower body movement, no.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Hip twist, nothing at all from one of the greatest
athletes to ever live on the planet Earth. And it
does feel like he stepped in there, raised the club,
took the picture, and then just stepped out and went
back to the cart.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
That's what I look like.
Speaker 5 (14:58):
That's why he would be in our cart, kb That's
exactly what I want in our cart. Is I bro
take the picture. It took somebody else hit the ball.
I'm done.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Bakers body has like a casual like rack of bud
light just in his bag, just in case for when
you're golfing. And that's the kind of buddy exactly. That's
the kind of buddy you want to have in your
golf cart.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Kyle.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
One last thing, your final take on this T shirt
that you used to wear in terms of this class
of twenty eighteen drafted quarterbacks, because I believe this was
part of your closet portfolio there for a while.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
We got yeah, all right, So I went to the
draft in Nashville. The year prior, the Arizona Cardinals took
Josh Rosen in the first round. The build around him
to make him their future. Okay, one year in they
fired their head coach, Steve Wilks.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
One and done.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
And now they were immediately getting rid of Josh Rosen
because Cliff Kingsbury was the head coach and he always
wanted to hoach coach Kyler Murray.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
And they had the number one pick.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
Josh Rosen beat Aaron Rodgers in lambeau Field during his
rookie year.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
It actually happened, you can look it up.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
And he got so dissed and so discarded and he
was just tossed. And so I was like, there was
this crazy dynamic in the Nashville twenty nineteen draft where
Josh Rosen the first overall pick. Imagine this past year,
not first overall pick, but the Cardinals. Imagine this past
year if like the Bears were drafting a quarterback like
they had taken Caleb the year before, and they were
(16:18):
just going to draft a new guy they were already done.
It was so strange, and I felt Josh Rosen was
just like held captive.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
So I wore that all over the draft that year.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
And then he bounced around and I've heard as like
a business school graduate and very successful. So I hope
Josh Rosen makes more money than all these guys.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
But it's gonna be tough.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
It would be like if the Bears draft to Jackson
Darth this year, We're like, well, wait, where's Caleb going?
And because they have new coaching staff, man, it's good?
Do you still have that? Shir Kyle?
Speaker 1 (16:44):
I think that one probably was intercepted by brook in
the laundry and she's big and I what are all
these stupid T shirts?
Speaker 3 (16:49):
You have?
Speaker 1 (16:50):
And she throws them away? So I don't think i'd
have the free Rosen star anymore. Good idea, honey, probably
a good right?
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Yeah, I am taking that phrase and running with it.
Intercepted in the laundry. Gosh, it just didn't make it
back into the joor. Gosh, darn it is perkat go.
I don't know, just like Josh Rosen, where to go? Okay,
here we go. Coming back on GMFB, Mantai has another
top five list and he has been preparing for just
through his heart and soul over the weekend. Most intimidating
(17:18):
players is this that you played against? Or currently? What's
the premise here?
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Is I played against them, I've seen them play.
Speaker 5 (17:24):
It's not as intimidating as the list that I had
last week, which I struggled with.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
So I took it on again. I hadn't intimidated by nothing, Kyle, Well, remember,
don't be intimidated by this.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
At the end of the summer, Manti, I will be
giving my top five top five lists, So this one
makes it.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
It'll be good. Speaking of top five.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
We have a superstar, a gold medal winner joining us.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
It's not John Randall.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
Here we go to the world of flag foom. We
want to see one of the best flag football players
alive as it goes to the Olympics, and it includes
NFL players. We'll have it right after the break.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
Don't go anywhere.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Good football.
Speaker 5 (18:11):
When you're in a game, right and you look across
across the sideline, you start to measure people out.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
He's like, there's a reason.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
Why back in the old days used to have that big,
old white cowboy collar.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
It's to make you look more manly.
Speaker 5 (18:22):
And sometimes when you watch these guys coming out of
the tunnel, you're like, Oh, that guy's gonna be mean.
That guy's came without even playing against the guy.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
The thing I hate about pick a ball is somebody
could look.
Speaker 5 (18:32):
Like they just came from Whole Foods and they go
across the court on you and they just start murdering you.
I'm used to stepping on the court and looking at
people and start to analyze them like, oh, I got
this person. I can definitely beat this person. That doesn't
happen in pick a ball.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
You had me until you said pick a ball, Manti.
So you started that beautiful take with there are just
certain guys that come out with the neckrol. Weren't you
a neck roll.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
Guy to at time in high school? In high school?
Speaker 2 (18:58):
All right, and you just say that that guy's a dude,
all right, he's tough. So Manti's come up with his
top most intimidated intimidating.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
That you went against, that I went up against played with.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Now you're gonna like this list. You're really gonna like that.
Speaker 5 (19:10):
Hope it's on your top five top five lists, KB,
because this is what I'm going with.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (19:14):
Now, when I say intimidating, I'm not talking about I'm
scared of him.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
There's no fear. It's just an acknowledgment like this to
it is different. So why don't we start this off
with a bang? James?
Speaker 2 (19:23):
All right?
Speaker 5 (19:23):
So the guy that I'm starting off with, I don't
know if you've heard of him.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
His name is J. J.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
Watt Now, I don't know if you could you could
say that somebody who bleeds out of his nose and
still plays a game and has that black little brace
on his arm can't be intimidating. But if you don't
think so, we got some sound that we want to
talk to for you to enjoy.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
All I know is you messed with me. You got problems.
Let's see it. I'll show you, I'll show you.
Speaker 5 (19:47):
Just make sure you got a good views, get some popcorn,
maybe some jujubs, a slushy snow cap.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Perhaps they're gonna want to.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
Be comfortable today as a man.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
It's them against.
Speaker 6 (19:59):
Your brother.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Gone time thirty four.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
You think.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
You guys might want to try somebody else to right tackle.
Maybe we're just getting better. You're gonna hold all there
just part of it. I've being Burrito is bigger than you.
Speaker 6 (20:21):
It's locker shotgun gets to snap. What knocks the ball out?
JJ Ruddifoor picks it up thirty five, thirty two has
left up twenty five and he's blots out.
Speaker 7 (20:30):
Now what is coming in the game as an eligible receiver?
Speaker 6 (20:33):
First a goal at the wad wat moships to the
right side Fitzpatrick to throw right side to watch.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
JJ with the Cats gouts down.
Speaker 5 (20:41):
Yes, one of my first one of my first games
in the NFL was Monday night football Chargers versus Texans
in San Diego, and I got to see ninety nine
go out there. It is almost illegal for you to
be that big and to be able to be on
defensive end, had the agility to play defensive end, but
(21:02):
also be strong enough to plan the int So JJ
Watt's number one on that list right now.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
I have to imagine I've never done a boar. Very
difficult to run in a full set of football pads.
That guy makes it look so athletic, so easy. Is
he zupid?
Speaker 5 (21:14):
Like swatting boss and your something the ball taking it
for a touchdown. You're so on to clip him catching
catching touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball, Jamie.
It was something to deal with now, talking about the
offensive side of the ball. The second guy, a lot
of people may not remember him. His name is Brandon Marshall. Now,
Brandon Marshall played at various teams throughout his career, but
I remember playing Brandon Marshall my rookie year. It was
(21:35):
a preseason game. Now, for you kids at home that
don't know who Brandon Marshall is, let me give you
some context. Throw up that clif, throw up that picture.
Let me give you some context as to how big
this guy is. See you guys may know DK metcalf,
aj Brown. Look at the height discrepancy. The guy six's five.
(21:55):
They's talk a lot about Megatron being this big figure.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
Mega Tron is also six'. Five and SO i remember
that in that that pre gamed little.
Speaker 5 (22:07):
Situation that we had over there In San diego when
we were playing them for before the, Game brandon marphn
caught the ball on the sideline And i'm standing next
to my wide receivers, coach and he looks at me
and he was, like now that's AN nfl wide. Receiver
AND i remember looking at him, like, coach you got
some slobber, on. Chillut BUT i got to tell you
(22:29):
when he had that multi colored advisor on and he
was just staring at you and glaring at, you, ye
it was an intimidating site for. Sure So Brandon, marshall
big respects to, you. Bro he's definitely on that intimidating. List,
NEXT i don't know if you haven't heard of this,
guy but there's an earthquake named after. Him his name
Is Marshawn. Lynch he ate a lot of skittles and
(22:50):
he intimidated a lot of. Guys, Now marshawn was one
of those guys that walked out onto the.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Field he had that dark visor on the gold.
Speaker 5 (22:57):
Teeth but the thing About marshawn is, this he had
this nonchalant kind of mannerism as he on the, field
and that was just something that really intimidated a lot of.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Guys like when you're when.
Speaker 5 (23:09):
It's pre game and you're watching the opposite, team you're
looking at guys that are hyped up and intense and
very very.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
Serious marshall to walk over there with his with his shoulder.
Speaker 5 (23:19):
Pads, unbuckled, yea his gold teeth, out his chin shop,
unclipped and you're just, like the game shouldn't come that
easy for, People but For Marshawn, lynch the game came super,
easy including running over, people running through, tackles making beast
quakes which they called, it and making A skittles rain
down from the sky over there In. Seattle he was
(23:40):
one of the most intimidating intimidating players for me to
play up, against and for a lot of people to
try to tackle. Him so that's that's number, three number number.
Four now this guy is not only somebody WHO i played,
against BUT i played.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
WITH i believe we have some. Sound let's toss to the,
sound started to the, right try to follow his, plucking
but his clock from. Behind peterson's on fire Over why
would you want to blow a? BARRET i got the
cuts to the left of the five shakespe.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
Claim Matthews tacker steps into the end soon touch, down fucking.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
Look dominated his ass better than all day? Long dominated his?
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Ass who got more to?
Speaker 4 (24:23):
Go who got more to?
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Go SO.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
I got a funniest story About Adrian.
Speaker 5 (24:31):
Peterson SO i played with him In New, orleans and
my first year With New, ORLEANS i was coming back
from An achilles.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Injury NOW i started.
Speaker 5 (24:38):
To make some progress in my, recovery AND i started
to do box, jumps AND i was on a forty
inch box And Patrick, Peterson Adrian peterson was right next
to me on the. Bench and SO i jump up
on this forty inch box And Adrian peterson comes over
over to me with the big piece of tobacco in his,
lip and he just looks at me as a, hey,
brother let me.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
Try and SO i kind of step back And adrian
jump jump on his.
Speaker 5 (25:01):
Box all, right, Guys he steps up to the, Buck
jamie looks at, it and right before he, jumps he
switches to one leg and jumps up on a forty
inch box with one. Leg and that's WHEN i Knew
god created some people get.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
Different Adrian peterson was.
Speaker 5 (25:18):
Different he was different on the, field he was different
in the weight, room he was different in everything that he.
Did so he was one of the most intimidating. Guys now,
last but not, least somebody who welcomed me into THE.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
Nfl he was my own. Teammate he was all. PRO
i believe he was all, pro but definitely if he,
wasn't he should have. Been his name Is Nick.
Speaker 5 (25:36):
Hardwick Now Nick, HARDWICK, kb you Remember Nick. Hardwick he
had these green tats on his arms and he was
just one of those old school rugged offensive. Linemen now
my welcome to THE nfl moment With Nick hardwick happened
during training. Camp, Now Nick hardiwick had a thing in
college WHEN i would blitz the a, gap which is
(25:57):
between the center and the, guard and that thing. Opened
it was just open. Freeway and SO i had that
same type of approach in THE. Nfl so THE a
gap opened up And i'm, like, Oh i'm going to
go get a, sack and SO i start running in
there full.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
Speed. Amy WHAT i did not know was in THE
nfl they liked to play mind.
Speaker 5 (26:15):
Games See Nick hardwick was on our nose guard helping out.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
His, guard but his eyes were still on.
Speaker 5 (26:21):
Me and As i'm running Like i'm running through, Daisies
i'm running through.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
THE a, gap he peels off and hits, me.
Speaker 5 (26:28):
And it's like that one of my favorite, MOVIES A
Night's tale THAT i reference a lot on the. Show
at the end Or i'm on my back And i'm
staring up at the, Sky Nick hardwick comes over me
and he just looks at me and he's, like welcome
to THE. Nfl and he was that type of center
for us at The San Diego. Charters one of the most,
intimidating one of the smartest guys that you could that you.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
Ever run up.
Speaker 5 (26:51):
Against so here's my list of the top five most
intimidating players That i've played against and played WITH i
think it's a great. List we might have to add
The domakin su to that, list could easily add him to,
it but.
Speaker 8 (27:04):
That is my.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
Five you so much of the Watt aura was that
shot of him gushing bloods from his.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
Face there'd be so many of these shots where he
would be bleeding down his face in the middle of
the game and it remind you Of Ray nichki Or
Dick buckis or. Something But i'm really glad you call,
That Brandon marshall for. This there's the shot like that
that was not some crazy one, Off LIKE i feel
like that was JUST jj in the second quarter of
A week three game against The, Titans like that was
just that was how he played football and it was totally.
(27:34):
NORMAL i love, you Said Brandon marshall, though Because i've
always found that when people say, people people who don't
work in sports or football to say who was like
who's the craziest physical specimen you've come?
Speaker 3 (27:46):
Across or who's who did you? Meet and was LIKE?
Whoa to, me it's always wide.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Receivers because the person that really shocked me WHEN i
saw him in person Was Larry fitzgerald BECAUSE i couldn't
believe how, big he. WAS i get why offensive linemen
and tight ends are. Big when the wide receivers are
that big and then they move like they.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
Do that to me is true physical.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Intimidation Larry, Fitzgerald Brandon, MARSHALL Dk, metcalf some of those huge,
Guys Calvin, Johnson Herman, Moore Brandon, marshall his nickname was The,
beast and when he came out In, denver, guys he
came up and no one really knew much about. Him
absolute physical, intimidation, domination fantastic, player change teams a. Lot
there he is With megatron and it looks like he's
(28:26):
staid measuring right up to.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
Him nobody measures up To.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Megatron, yeah as color just sulks in the, background probably
after A Bears.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
Lost BUT i Like marshall a. LOT i like this,
one and there is with. Fits this is.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Perfect looks like you get like an inch or two
on fitz in that. Photo even And Brandon marshall has
been on the, Show. KYLE i remember he came into
our studio In New, york and he's just got this
aura about, him like a cheshire. Cat he's always got
something in the works under the hats that he, wears
And i'm sure it was the same when he was a.
PLAYER i liked how you Describe Marshall lynch, though because
as a human and as a, man you're exactly right
(28:56):
to say some of the most intimidating people are the
ones that can get under your, skin almost like an
achilles like horse coming into, here like he's he's, calm he's,
chill he's goofing, around and then he will absolutely murder
you on a football. Field and that's How Marshaun lunch.
Speaker 5 (29:10):
Was, Yeah Marshawn lynch reminded me a lot Of Andrew
luck in the way Because Andrew luck is one of
those quarterbacks that when you would hit, him he'd compliment.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
You, See marshawn never complimented, you but he would.
Speaker 5 (29:20):
Laugh at you in the bottom of the pile like
you're you're laying there with everybody and it would take
like four or five of you to take them. Down
so there's One Seattle seahawks and there's a bunch of
us and we're laying there on the bottom of the,
pile and he's, like AND i can't think of a
more degrading thing than a running back to be laughing at.
You it's, like, brother is that all you?
Speaker 3 (29:38):
Got like you? Did you even hit?
Speaker 6 (29:40):
Me?
Speaker 3 (29:40):
Bro so that was that Was marshawn when we played,
them WHEN i was with The, chargers it was it,
was it was.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Something it would be worse if he was down there.
Counting there's, one, two, three there's four of you and
there's one of.
Speaker 4 (29:50):
Me good luck.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
Everybody The Atlanta falcons have. Landed Kirk. COUSINS i have

Speaker 3 (30:35):

Speaker 2 (30:36):

atlanta with their quarterback drafted last season In Michael Pennock
junior no longer the understudy To Kirk. Cousins Pennick junior
took over as A falcon starter In week sixteen last
season and credits his time on the bench with giving
(30:57):
him a valuable opportunity to learn From. Cousins PENNICK tellingsi

Speaker 4 (33:07):
You it's.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
Wonderful we're going to get into where you're going to
go in just a. Second you've won a gold medal
though with the JUNIOR us national. Team you've achieved so
much in your time with the. Sport the theme of
the commercial Is Chase. Something when you heard that, tagline
when you knew you were going to be a part
of this, campaign what did the messaging mean to?
Speaker 8 (33:22):
YOU i think for, me it's more like the MORE i,
accomplish the MORE i feel more motivated to kind of
go to that next level and really accomplish WHAT.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
I can and just look for bigger.
Speaker 8 (33:33):
Goals SO i think Chase something definitely means like just
keep pushing forward and just keep striving to be the
best version of yourself.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Little by little every. Day it's amazing when THE nfl
And flag football puts these spots. Together it's the amount
of just pure athletes that they get on the. Set is,
You It's Jordan chiles is? There it must have been so.
Fun was there anyone that you came across that just
took you by surprise in terms of their athleticism and
their participation in?
Speaker 6 (33:57):
This?
Speaker 3 (33:57):
Yeah Definitely.
Speaker 8 (33:58):
JORDAN i mean just to have her support and just
like the gymnastics kind of community coming together With, flag
that was great to see because we're all obviously like
women in sports and we should all be supporting each.
Other so it's nice to see another woman playing a
competitive sport supporting.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
Flag so, yeah.
Speaker 5 (34:15):
Totally, Yeah you're not only from right here IN, la
but you also represented The rams last, Year sophie in
THE Nfl Latino Youth honors and you were named the
women's national.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
Winner.
Speaker 5 (34:27):
Congratulations tell us a little bit about that, experience and,
obviously being on a platform like, this you have to
be an inspiration to so many young flag football.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
Players tell us what it means to be.
Speaker 8 (34:38):
That, YEAH i, mean just growing, UP i feel LIKE
i didn't really have that person to look up to
in flag just because the sport was still, new but
NOW i feel LIKE i can be that person that
people look up. To and then JUST i really. HAVE
i take pride in representing My mexican community and my.
Family so just being that person that people can look up,
to and it's really an honor and it's a.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
Pleasure SO i can imagine that's amazing and. Correct congratulations
again to. You so you just mentioned you just trid
to high. School now you're going to go To Kaiser
university In florida to be a part of the Flag,
powerhouse an absolute dominant. Program what goals do you have
in your college career when it comes to flag.
Speaker 8 (35:14):
FOOTBALL i, mean definitely to win a national championship with.
THEM i know they've been working really hard AND i
HOPE i can bring WHAT i can to that team
in that program to really bring home a national, championship hopefully.
Consecutively but we'll.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
See, Wow she's, like, no not, one but you, back let's.
Go we like that word.
Speaker 5 (35:31):
Consecutive, well you talk about consecutive and championships a lot
of people in our game in THE. Nfl when you do,
that you get to A hall Of fame and in
a few days you're going to go To kenton to
play in the, championship THE Nfl Flag.
Speaker 3 (35:43):
Championships tell us about. That are you? Excited how excited
are you for that?
Speaker 8 (35:47):
EXPERIENCE i, mean the opportunity to go compete at that
kind of level is. INSANE i mean there's a talent
coming from all over the country all coming together for
THE Nfl Flag. Championships there's insane talent from you, KNOW
us national, teams junior, teams and definitely a lot of media.
There so just to be able to really be in
that light and you, know really show my talent and
(36:10):
my team's, talent just go for one last ride with my,
Team i'm really. Excited what position do you?
Speaker 2 (36:14):
PLAY i play receiver in. Corner do you have favorite
players in THE nfl right?
Speaker 8 (36:17):
Now that, Yeah puka, Obviously, Yeah i'm A rams. FAN
i love The chargers as, well.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
But pooka And.
Speaker 8 (36:23):
Akua i'm definitely gonna Miss, cooper but, yeah.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
Yeah have you ever MET i have?
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Not, OKAY i, know make curious to support you. Guys
so for playing both sides of the, ball are you
like you you lead the league like interceptions or something
because you have such good like past catching. ABILITY i
MEAN i.
Speaker 8 (36:42):
TRY i think there's definitely a lot of other players
and other teams that really stand. Out and on that,
Side i'd say receiver is more of my my, strength
BUT i like defense more.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
Totally that's so. COOL i thought it was really really
well put what you, said which is you didn't have
a lot of people to look up to in the
sport because it was so. Young but does it feel
like a weight to be somebody like that in the
sport or you enjoy?
Speaker 6 (37:04):
That?
Speaker 8 (37:04):
YEAH i feel like, again this is definitely a huge
honor to be somebody that people can look up, to
especially in The South bay, area having That california At
South bay representing In New. Orleans WHEN i was at
The Super, bowl just trying to be the best PERSON
i can be for those younger people that are growing
up in this.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
Sport, now when you went To New orleans for The Super?
Bowl did you miss? Anything like your senior year in
high school has a lot of stuff going. On some
people are, like, OH i miss my prom BECAUSE i
had to go be at a movie. Premiere you missed
something to be at The Super? Bowl did you miss?
Anything you came back to your friends and you were, like,
SORRY i was at the Super bowl In New. Orleans.
Speaker 8 (37:39):
NO i actually only told like two people THAT i
was going to the Super.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
BOWL i just wanted it to be like a.
Speaker 8 (37:43):
Surprise i'm just gonna post it and be, like, oh
it was, here and they're all, like, oh what the,
heck we're watching it ON tv and you're literally.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
There, yeah, yeah it.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
Was it was a great.
Speaker 8 (37:51):
EXPERIENCE i didn't miss, Anything, okay so that was.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
Good but, yeah it was a great.
Speaker 2 (37:57):
TIME i had really. Fun, sorry there are no more
subtle flexes When Sophie Gee trunk could just, say, oh,
SORRY i was at the Super bowl over the weekend
A New. Orleans real. Cool congratulations and everything in your.
Career thank you so. Much stay. Healthy all, right we'll
be watching THE Nfl Flag championships going on In. Canton

(38:18):
championship presented By, toyota begins This, Friday july. Eighteenth you
can catch it ON, ESPN, abc and The Disney. Network
so if he's run everybody.
Speaker 4 (38:26):
Where'd you find those.
Speaker 7 (38:30):
Sorts so my, assistant her Uncle Sylvester, stallone when he
was Playing rambo back in the.
Speaker 3 (38:39):
Day she wanted a.
Speaker 7 (38:41):
Sword so he found this place in la that had some,
swords and she went to this place found a bunch
for me, stuff all, inscriptions what samurais war when they were.
Built that's really.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
Cool all, right that's a gift from the. Quarterback that's
pretty cool to have an assistant whose uncle Is Sylvester.
Stallone that's key when giving the coolest gift ever to
your offensive, Lineman, kyle your thought and the fact that
now in his bag of, weaponry if you were on
offensive linemen on The Cincinnati, bengals you have a.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
Sword, Yes So Joe, burrow he wanted to Buy batmobile
and he wants.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
Swords like this is the coolest stuff.
Speaker 1 (39:16):
Ever this is you, know you play those games like
if you just had dumb, money like what would you?
Speaker 3 (39:22):
DO i don't Know batmobile?
Speaker 1 (39:25):
Swords superman's cape is naxt a black panther. SUIT i
do wonder, though like DON'T a lot of times the
quarterbacks give their linemen like, cars you, know like a
sword Is chris, cool but like car's gonna put her
over the, door And i'm not gonna be able to
use it or.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
Anything SO i wonder how they would feel about.
Speaker 2 (39:41):
It that's an inherent that is a basic judgment you
just laid down on the gifting of the stord, like,
no it's not good enough For Kyle.
Speaker 3 (39:48):
Brandt, NO kb is. Right you know why BECAUSE i
did the same.
Speaker 5 (39:51):
Thing so For, CHRISTMAS i got these fancy, knives a
whole knife set for, institchen and so we did a
little white elephant gift kind of situation for the. Linebackers
and let me, say, guys nobody liked my. KNIVES i,
MEAN i don't know if you've ever ever been in
a white elephant gift exchange and your gift is the
one that nobody wants to. Exchange that was my. Gift
(40:14):
so for the, LINEMAN i would want to know did
they like the?
Speaker 3 (40:17):
Gift did they like the? Sword BECAUSE i.
Speaker 5 (40:19):
Would to kb's, Point i'm, like if you give me a,
Sword i'm, like, oh, okay that's.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
Cool where DO i Put i'm just gonna put it
on my. Wall type of.
Speaker 2 (40:26):
Things does suck when you bring the gift and they're,
like you only get to pass it on once and
someone gets that, Thing they're, LIKE i have to keep
this great all, Right, sorry, Man, Ti i'm sure you appreciated,
it all. Right so we had a conversation at the
beginning of the show ABOUT Afc west quarterbacks Justin, herbert
how can you hang With? Mahomes we had to poll
up on social media to find out if you didn't
get to Take Patrick mahomes in a game ending, scenario
