Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Good Morning Football, Monday, August eleventh, Jamie eard A Manti Teo,
our friend we always love to have at the table.
DeMarco Farr. You hear him on the RAMS broadcast. You
watched him play perhaps as a RAM and Kyle Brandt
in New York. Kyle, I think the professional term for
this hour, at least coming for me is nana nana
boo boo. We have a to Mario Davis sighting in
studio in LA He's not coming to you, He's coming

(00:30):
to us.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
It's great.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Well, here's the professional way to refer to this hour, Jamie.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
I'm on the East coast. This hour is going to
be between.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
Nine and ten.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
What hour's going to be between on the West coast?

Speaker 2 (00:42):
I have been three and six am. You in every time? Gosh,
darn it, darns hootin roll the open.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
We got to do it between six and seven.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Good Football.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Welcome to Good Morning Football presented bya JMFP.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
What's happening to Jamie Mantite, Kyle and DeMarco far as well?

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Listen.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
We saw a highlight from last hour from the Cowboys
game Cowboys Rams. It was so good. I have to
see the play again. And frankly, I got to send
it out to my buddy, who has I think is
wielding an inanimate object, one of our favorites on the show,
and to discuss more.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Kyle Sam all right, so never mind the guy who
gets hit. Let's talk about the hitter, Anthony Jeffries. That
is an official for the National Football League.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
He was a wide receiver.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Album at Alabama Birmingham, and that is his office. He
is entitled to the sideline. He is entitled to that area.
And you could put Ceedee Lamb out there. You could
put Dak Prescott, you could put Tom Brady. You could
run all of them, and he will run them over.
And mister Jeffries, I respect your work as an official,
and I respect it so much.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Let's just say that there's a token of appreciation that
I have here.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
That is the kind of ferocity we look for in
the world of angry runs. It's preseason, and I highly
doubt we could make a referee t shirt, but I
would try. And I just am saying I have my
eye on you. It's basically Cam Scattaboo and Anthony Jeffries
Rich the Giants and the veteran official. I love you,
I love you. You are my Dereck Henry. You are
my Earl Campbell. What I appreciate is that like you

(02:26):
got your eyes on ball. Your job is watching that
ball and watching that play. Whereas Ceedee Lamb's messing around,
and if you're on Anthony Jeffries tracks, you're gonna get
messed with.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
I respect the.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Professionalism and Ceede Lamb get the hell off the field.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
You all have your time.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
But until then, Anthony Jeffries, you are squarely on the
watch list. I love you, I salute you, I respect you.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Angriest official in the game. And that's what I like.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Checking with homage if they can do the likeness of
a referee. Until then for the T shirt, for the
Angry Runs T shirt. Until then, Kyle Angry run us
through the following. I think you have three highlights that
you are going to walk us through. But it has
specific subject matter and it is the young guys in
the NFL that we got to talk face with.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
It certainly is I don't know if you've heard of
this rookie for the.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Browns His name is Shadeur Sanders. His father is Dion Sanders.
Used to play on the Falcons, Browns Panthers. Everybody losing
their mindset. He wasn't perfect. Why are you starting him
before all the other players? Well, because there's people were
in Colorado football churches in Carolina.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
It's a big deal.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
People want to know about Shador. Fourteen of twenty three,
one hundred and thirty eight. It's two touchdowns, no big mistakes.
Let's hear from Shador, who I think was asked, Hey, Shador,
give yourself a letter grade on your performance.

Speaker 5 (03:39):
I would say, see plus ce plus. Yeah, it's passing.
It's passing because we got to win. You know, that's
that's first and foremost, and that's extremely important. But you know,
Pop said, you know, take advans opportunity, and I don't
feel like I did, so, you know, I feel like
I let him down a little bit. But on the
team behalf. I feel like I ran the offense pretty well.

(04:02):
I feel like I got some out this siss and
it's some things I could have done better, different process
where I could speed my feet up. So you know,
I'm just I'm just thankful for opportunity I'm happy, you know,
we won, but it's definitely still time to go to work,
all right.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
This is kind of a three layered situation with Shador Sanders.
There's expectation, there's perception, and then there's the production man. Tait,
what did you make of his Friday night start?

Speaker 6 (04:25):
Well, I thought it was solid. I thought his performance
was solid. But this is what I learned about Shaudor.
I think there was a narrative about him coming out
of college that he was this guy that that thought
he was something that he was entitled. I mean, there
were certain instances where that on his team visits he had,
he had certain talks about his team visits, his combine.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
He said, you know, history repeats itself, and.

Speaker 6 (04:45):
There are times in colleges where he where there's times
in colleges where he blamed his offensive line for not
being able to block.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Well.

Speaker 6 (04:51):
The Chador that I saw this past weekend was a
mature Chador with somebody who took accountability for things that
weren't even his fault. And that's something that I thought
that was that was amazing to see. I really respected
the fact that he's.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
Shown a lot of growth, a lot of.

Speaker 6 (05:08):
Maturity and That really bodes well, not only as a
player in this league, but as a leader in this league,
as somebody who looks at the situation doesn't accuse anybody
else but himself.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
He said he had a seat, He.

Speaker 6 (05:19):
Gave himself a CET plus, and I think that says
a lot about him and his futures in.

Speaker 7 (05:22):
This league, you know.

Speaker 8 (05:24):
I The through line to this is I'm so happy
for the Sanders family just to shout out to Prime.
I mean, it's everybody's every kid's dream of is to
be in the NFL and to win a Super Bowl.
The other part of that is I want to be
so good that the name carries on that my son
can actually play, and there he is. So you know what,
the theatrics do not bother me. The stuff that he

(05:45):
does after your score does not bother me. I love
this stuff. What you have to do is continue to
work on your craft, continue to get better at the
little things. Being a leader. You know what's gonna get
tougher from here. It's gonna be a lot of fun.
I halfway expected Shudor in that little press conference to
start with it's my house. It's too early for that now,
but at some point that's coming. I don't mind the
bravado as long as you have to play to back

(06:06):
it up. This was a great start. Now let's see
what he does with the next opportunity. I still don't
know what Cleveland is exactly trying to do with the
quarterback spot. But for all the people that said Chador
can't play at this level, at least you have some
evidence to the contrary.

Speaker 7 (06:21):
So we'll see what happens from here. But I thought
it was a good start.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
I thought he looked comfortable, confident, and he looked the part,
the part being a talented rookie, not.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Perfect mistakes, but more good than bad.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
We talked about this an hour ago when we came out,
and we're excited coming off the weekend about Shadar Sanders,
and some.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
Of the reaction to me is a real eye roller.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
And I'm talking about the reaction to our reaction, and
I see a lot.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Of it was the Panthers' backups. Stop throwing a parade.
I know it was the Panthers' backups.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Did you see anybody in this show or me putting
a Super Bowl ring on Chador or putting up a
statue of him.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
It's a good story. It's interesting. It's football. No one's
saying he's winning the Super Bowl. No on's saying he's
winning the starting job. It's interesting here.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Why don't you talk more about Jackson Dart?

Speaker 3 (07:06):
We have and we will.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Jackson Dart was taken one hundred and nineteen.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Picks before Shador Sanders.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
We're not in the business of just saying who's the
best football player all the time. We're talking about an
interesting personal story, of which this definitely is. There's a
lot more to do. It was compelling how he played
that night under the lights. It was riveting. In fact,
it was a very cool personal story. Given his background,
his family and everything. I apologize for nothing we should

(07:34):
have talked about Shador're going to continue to talk about Shador.
My question is how are we going to continue talking
about Shador?

Speaker 3 (07:40):
He played well in a preseason game. It was maybe
like a load off of his shoulder, his family's shoulders,
But like, what is the next now?

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Is he going to be able to start the next
preseason game?

Speaker 3 (07:50):
What I'm saying is, is there a way.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
That Shador Sanders could run the perfect campaign and somehow
pull a rabbit out of his hat and the rabbit
being he starts Week one for the Browns.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
Is that even possible? Just give you the roadmap here.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Their next preseason game is not till Saturday, it's this weekend.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
They're playing at Philadelphia. Now.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
The problem is, even if Shaduur does start, which based
on injuries Dylan Gabriel Flacco, we don't know yet.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
It's too far off.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Even if he were to start, the Eagles are not
going to play their starters defensively.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
That's just not what they do.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
So it's not like if Shadura goes out and throws
two touchdowns three touchdowns, It's like this, can you really
win a spot?

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Is that done?

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Is there any viability of that Shaduur could be so
good in the preseason that he would win the spot?

Speaker 3 (08:32):
Probably not.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
I still think it's probably just Joe Flacco on the
go with Stefan stable, But I choose to believe. I
don't know, are you really in the business meet the
Browns to say no, no, no, no, no blinders on
we're starting Joe Flacco or do they really have their
eyes open to this.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
It's a tricky road.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
I don't know if it's possible, but certainly Friday night
was a huge step forward.

Speaker 6 (08:52):
Kyle.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Sometimes on a Monday of GMFB week, I feel like
the next twenty hours of television is going to be
a tricky road. But everything that you just said it
gives us legs for the rest of the week, because,
like you said, they don't play till Saturday, we will
have time to discuss this standers and that fascinating quarterback
room in Cleveland. Now, Kyle said it, it's not like
we're talking about Jackson Dart, but shall we because the
Giants and the Bills played this weekend, Kyle take it away.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
All right, let's go.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
We got more quarterbacks to talk about. Russell Wilson gets
the start. He's also going to get the start Week
one for the Giants. He comes in one year deal, guys,
and he looked good. He looked exactly like a veteran,
exactly what he would expect against the Bills or whatever
remains of the Bills that they put out there.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
Russell Wilson looked every single bit.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
The part and everything we hear from Giants camp is
they're one hundred percent in on rust being their starter
week one.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
So that's it. Jackson Dart promising how was it for you.

Speaker 9 (09:47):
I expect myself to play good, you know, whenever I'm
on the field, Like, yeah, I don't expect myself to
not play good. So I was just trying to, you know,
operate the offense and get the ball out of my
hands pretty quickly to get guys the ball in space
for them to make plays. And I thought they did
a great job at it. But you know, just kind
of trying to stack these and the more epsod, I
thought like, I'm going to get on to get.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
More more comfortable.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Jackson Dart carries himself with such confidence. First all, he
looks like he could play for the Savannah Bananas at
this point. Secondly, he's got the white turtleneck going while
he plays Kyle. We've talked Jackson Dart, but we also
have to talk about his fellow first round pick in
Abdul Carter with the Giants. What about this conversation, where
do you want to take us quarterback or defense.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
I'll stay with the quarterback. I mean, listen, we're going
to talk about Carter too. He looked really good and
limited snaps when against Dan Dawkins. Well, guys will talk
about it shortly, but you could not have expected anything
better for Jackson Dart. I thought he looked better than Shador.
I thought cam Ward looked good. I thought Jackson Dart
looked the part by far. You know, we get into
scrutinizing what the stats are and what the throws are.

(10:48):
All I care about is somebody goes out there and
they just look comfortable.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Like we've seen rookies come out.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
There and they're like, oh no, this guy does not
look comfortable at all. I don't know if this guy
looks the part. Jackson Dart came out and looked like
a professional quarterback.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
This is a great throw. He can do that in
a sleep. The conversation with him is.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
He going to play at all as a rookie, And
if he's going to play, it is because something that's
going really wrong and they're losing. I hate to be
so diffusive about this, but like, there's no conversation in
the Giants camp at all about Jackson Dart's starting week one.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
It's Russell Wilson and it's a runaway.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
Russell Wilson, if he keeps playing this well in prease,
is getting something to think about. But Giants fans, you
celebrate this morning. Being like, I think Dart might be something,
just not for a while.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
What do you think to Marco?

Speaker 8 (11:28):
You know, when I was walking this morning until I
got here, after watching him play with no sound, I
was thinking one of these veterans is going either Jamis
or Russell, until you said that Russell's going to be
the guy. Then it may be Jamis because this guy
can play. And I do wonder how long Russell can
hold him off, especially if it's not going well, if
it's just if Russell Wilson is a shot fighter, he
doesn't have a six gear. He can't pull the you know,

(11:51):
a rabbit out of his hat anymore. How long can
you actually hold this kit off? Because I think he
has real talent, he really does. He's great when he
pulls the ball down. Now you got to learn how
to slide, and he can make every single throw. Now
he's going to get better. And New York is a
tough place to play, especially for anybody, but especially for quarterbacks.
But I do wonder how long he can actually Russell
Wilson can hold this kid off as far as talent

(12:12):
is concerned. If Russell can, it's the greatest redemption story
we've heard in a long time that Russell goes to
New York and actually makes it work.

Speaker 7 (12:19):
But if you if you.

Speaker 8 (12:21):
Follow the NFL, you've seen this coming before. At some
point mid season, Jackson Dart will probably be the starter
for the Giants down the road.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
I like that. I like that.

Speaker 6 (12:30):
Now I want to talk about Abdul Carter, but before
I do, I want to talk about Brian day Ball
because I thought what Brian Dayball did for his young
quarterback was it was a masterclass. And what I mean
by that is on those third down and long situations
that he was in, all they did was run screens.
Like how many times have we seen these young quarterbacks
and they're they're whoever's calling the plays for them on
third down and long require them to make some crazy

(12:51):
play and it's picked off? And what does that do
to their confidence? Like Brian Daball had a plan. It
was like, listen, we're gonna throw that screen. If it's
five yards cool, it was a screen anyway, But if
we get a first down, this's get more opportunity. So
I thought that Brian Dayball did a great job about
their instructuring that approach for his young quarterback. Now, Abdul Carter. Now,
when I watch Abdull Carter, he has a get off

(13:11):
that reminds me of von Miller. Like, I'm not saying
he's von Miller, so don't but that get off. There
are certain rushers that when they come off that ball,
they get off so quickly and so fast they're like, man,
how are you going to even stop that? But then
he has some twitchiness that reminds me of Michael Parsons.
See when von Miller would come across, he was so smooth,
and if you watch the first hour, DeMarco had a

(13:34):
clip of that band. That's what von Miller had. But
when I watch Abdull Carter, he has a get off,
but he's also twitchy, which is a lot like Michael Parsons. Now,
they move him a round, a lot around for the Giants.
They don't just keep him on the edge. They put
him over guards, they put him over centers, which is
what the Dallas Cowboys use with michaelh So again, guys,
I'm not saying that he is that player, But what

(13:55):
I am saying is there attributes by his game that
is reminiscent of a Vaughan in his get off and
the twitchingess to him that is reminiscent of a Michael
Parsons and how the New York Giants are using him.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
So I'm really excited to watch this rookie.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
Their defense has had a lot of good pieces, but
they may have just found that thing that brings the
whole picture together. Kyle, I cannot believe. I mean, you
mentioned his name once, but we got to see a
highlight from he who must not be named. Out of
the first round picks of quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
I'm calling him the Phantom. It's like he doesn't exist.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Cam Ward the number one overall pick at the Tennessee's tightened.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Let's get to the highlight.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
He was out there, he played, and he's against the Buccaneers.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
Cam Warred out there.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Number one pick. Now that we've haddled the.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
Fifth rounder and the twenty fifth pick, he's got those
cool little red shoes and even cooler throws. The discussion
here was the camp Ward looks good. Seemed like all
these rookies are looking good.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
Camp with one of the books. What is it that
you want to improve on? My man, the Phantom take
it away?

Speaker 10 (14:52):
Well, I just think my biggest one is I got
to maximize my draws.

Speaker 7 (14:55):
So I had a three now in the first quarter.

Speaker 10 (14:57):
Notes all we did so just maximize my draws and
you know, just shawing to continuously move the chains. You
got to be able to get a defensive break.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
The game of that what you're saying it was.

Speaker 10 (15:07):
Really too different from college. Just more of being I
would say alerted on third downs, just the cans that
you can get to in Coach Callahan's offense, and then
just getting the ball out when it needs to be out.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
He stays true to himself. He's got you too serious affects,
and I'm into that. For cam Ward, he has maintained
that as the number one overall pick all the way
now into his first start in the preseason under his belt, Manti,
would you make of cam Ward's debut?

Speaker 4 (15:33):
I thought it was solid.

Speaker 6 (15:34):
I think he demonstrated why he was the best thrower
of the football in this class.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
Like how he threw the ball, I.

Speaker 6 (15:40):
Thought was it was it was, It was beautiful. But
you see that bounce right there when he gets back there, Kbu.
It was reminiscent like we talked about he looked at part.
It was reminiscent of those old school quarterbacks that got
that little casual bounce back there. So shout out to
to cam Ward for taking me back to those good
old days. Like nowadays you have these quarterbacks that have

(16:01):
those happy feet and it's an RPO where their feet
are always busy. But cam Ward got this nonchalant, like
casual bounce to him, which I really really appreciated this
casual bounce, like you see that a lot nowadays. But
when I watch cam Ward play, I was like, man,
that reminds me of those good where you had to
be under center, you had to drop back and he
had to read defenses and there were those split seconds

(16:23):
where you would just bounced back there. I missed that,
I really did, But cam Ward he reminded me of
that when I watched him.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
So I thought he threw the ball whale.

Speaker 6 (16:32):
I love the bounce, I love the poise, and it's
looking good for the rookie out there.

Speaker 7 (16:37):
I think the.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
Phantom is what KB called him.

Speaker 7 (16:39):
He looked, he looked the part. I like the phantom.
That's I think that might stick.

Speaker 8 (16:44):
But it's like he's the polar opposite of Shador Sanders. Yeah,
if Shador Sanders showed up in the parking lot, you
would know it if.

Speaker 7 (16:50):
Cam Word was in this room, you might not.

Speaker 8 (16:53):
But I think what you said, the bounce and everything,
I think that's why he went number one. You could
tell of all the rookie quarterbacks we've seen today, he
looks the best out of all of them. Technically, that's
why he's the number one guy. So I think that's
a perfect lane for him. I think you should stay anonymous,
keep working, stay under the radar, and just surprise people
with how well you play.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
I think it's funny that people think we overreact to
Shador Sanders playing well against the Panthers backups, and Manti
is bringing out Dan Marino and Tom Rady.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
Cam Ward Manti's that's changing the story.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Why the hell not listen cam Ward. Cam Ward's, in
my opinion, the only rookie quarterback is going to start
Week one. Okay, that's it's a big deal. He is
definitely gonna start. They go at Denver. It's not ideal,
it's on the road, it's in elevation, it's against one
of the best defenses in the league and the best
cornerback in the league. And yet I don't know. I
think he'll just go out there and start chucking it.

(17:45):
This guy's has this presence that's just not only confidence comfortable,
it's unassuming. He has this almost maddening, this is no
big deal way about him.

Speaker 3 (17:55):
You know.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
Afterwards, Shadur has given out letter grades to himself and
Jackson Dart's saying, I always expect to play well, and
Cam's kind of like, yeah, it's fine, there's no big deal.

Speaker 7 (18:04):
It was all right.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
I always love the way he handles himself. I like
the body language. I like the throws first drive, and
by the way, I like that he's hitting Ridley too.
If the Titans have their way, like Calvin, rid is
gonna have one hundred and twenty catches this year. If
things go the way, he is going to be a
high volume fantasy type player.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
It looks good, it looks great.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
He's always been my favorite quarterback in this class.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
I love him.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
He's the only one I think who's going to be
starting Week one short of something to dramatic happening, and
we'll see.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
He looks great against Tampa's backups Week one late window.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
By the way, four o'clock start, which for the Titans
is as close as they're going to come to a
to a primetime game at Denver.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
We'll see what he's made of them.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
Kyle, Let's be honest. The reason that you love him,
number one is the fact that he said he only
talked to five people in his life, and that is
right up your alley.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
You love that.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
For the Phantom, I think it was five people and
his dog, Yes, the only people he really talks to
in his life.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
And the Phantom is just I'm floating it out there.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Because it's almost like a ghost. He doesn't exist, like
he's the Phantom of the opera up in the raptors.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Is that thing real?

Speaker 1 (19:03):
Because I'm just focused on this guy, on the Browns
and the Giants. Plus, the Phantom is like a really
cool luxury car that's out there.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
It's a good nickname for cam Ward.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
He's welcome to run with it, licensing and all that stuff.
I think it should be our nickname for him, because
he's just you can't even tell if he's real, but
we're making him real.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
A lot of talk about the rookie quarterbacks. This guy
doesn't qualify, but we've never seen him play a regular
season snap. Got injured a year ago. In three seasons,
JJ McCarthy Viking's first round pick from last year. That's
a connection to Jordan Addison early. Now McCarthy only played
for one series Addison. He will be without him the
first three games in the regular season, so that chemistry
is great. This is another good look too, because that

(19:43):
is a surgically repaired name. McCarthy flushed out of the
pocket as an eight yard game. McCarthy did have ten
rushing tds in his time at Michigan, so he knows
how to get out and scamper. Now this time he's
trying to find Jordan Mason of the Bay Area incomplete pass.
But it was a new addition that he's trying to
make where Koc dubbed oftentimes as the quarterback whisper Vikings

(20:04):
of settle for a field goal. On that drive, it
was the single drive that you saw out of JJ McCarthy.
Manti would you make of his start?

Speaker 4 (20:10):
Well, it was exactly what we said it was going
to be.

Speaker 6 (20:12):
I mean, the thing that distinguishes JJ McCarthy from Sam
Darnold is his ability to scramble, is his ability to
use his legs, and I think that's something that they
really missed last year, especially when they played against the
Detroit Lyons late.

Speaker 4 (20:23):
Into this season.

Speaker 6 (20:24):
Now, I will say this, they're gonna miss Jordan Addison.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
That's for sure.

Speaker 6 (20:29):
Like three up, all of his best roles were to
number three, all of them. All of the best catches
that are by number three. Now we're speak about number three.
We're gonna we're not going to see him for three weeks.
But he'll be back, but they're gonna miss him.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
I no know.

Speaker 6 (20:40):
JJ McCarthy's gonna miss him, So DeMarco. When I watch
his game, I look at somebody who's obviously in his
second year under the system. He's somebody who's very comfortable
in that system. Now there's so much more that we
have to see. He demonstrate that he could, he could
throw the ball on the run, he could run the ball.
But there's so much we don't know yet. But what
I do know is they're gonna miss Jordannadsen de Marco.

Speaker 8 (20:59):
I I me, I need to see more. But I
do trust Kevin O'Connell and he thinks the world of
this kid.

Speaker 7 (21:07):
So much so that you let Sam Donald move on.

Speaker 8 (21:09):
But I'll say this, of all the quarterbacks we've talked about,
he's got the most pressure that is. That's one of
the best NFL rosters in the league, you know what
I mean. And you're taking over. That's like handing the
keys to a young driver and hey, drive this Ferrari.
Let's see if you can get it all the way to
the playoffs. So we'll see what happens there. But Kevin
O'Connell feels like he's the guy. He can run the offense,
not make a mistake, understand that you do have a defense.

(21:32):
If it's not there, throw it away, punt, we'll play
defense or scramble and pick up the first down.

Speaker 7 (21:36):
So it'll be interesting to see how he reacts.

Speaker 8 (21:38):
But let yeah, of any quarterback outside of Dak Prescott
who puts more pressure on his team, I don't think
there's any more pressure than JJ McCarthy right now. You've
got to get this team into the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
Yeah, we've talked about all off season. I always use
the word pivotal. He's just one of the most important players.
He really wields an important role as the Vikings quarterback,
and we don't know how great he is in this
game and Jeffersons rather McCarthy's performance. This gets me back
to my preseason is fake Christmas theory. It's a real game.
It's kind of like a real present, but not really.
The real ones still aren't coming for weeks. It's just

(22:10):
he's out there and I'm trying to analyze what he's
going to do this year. He's out there with a
receiver who's not going to be there because he's going
to be suspended, and Jefferson's not playing. So I mean,
that's a pretty big deal to break down what we
think about JJ McCarthy. I can tell you all the
things about, oh yeah, he moves the pocket well and
he finishes his throats, like we know that about him.
We know that he is an able bodied, confident athlete

(22:31):
and we've seen.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
Him a lot.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
I want to see him in a real football game
with Addison and Jefferson, and I would say we're going
to see that in the opener. We're not even going
to see that till like week four. So the mystery
continues with JJ McCarthy opening night at Chicago in prime
time without Addison. It's a very interesting thing. But as
far as this preseason goes, I know a lot of
guys are out there without their best receiver.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
I can't analyze him without Jefferson. He is the receiver.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
He's the biggest part of their offense by far. I
want to see him out there with Jefferson, and we'll
have to just as I keep saying over and over,
like those presents, we just have to wait. We can
shake them and we can guess what's in there, but
we can't open them.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
It just seems like a lot of hardships too, because
as Kyle referenced that week four returns for Jordan Adison
is in a game that's going to be played in Dublin, Ireland.
Then they have to stay in Europe and the Vikings
play a second game for the first time ever in
the NFL in Europe. Those are the first two times
you're going to see that offense in completion before they
return back to the continental United States and play a game.
So we'll see this Viking experience.

Speaker 4 (23:33):
Might on.

Speaker 11 (23:35):
That's only one with them.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
Then this game about dominating your opponent.

Speaker 7 (23:47):
Take your hand off, you gotta take his hand take
you And that's.

Speaker 3 (23:50):
What we own today, dominate his play must.

Speaker 7 (23:57):
Days.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
You can still feel that energy reverberating from across the
street at so far, that's this man right here tomorrow, Davis,
I'm looking at you watching yourself? Is that like an
out of body experience?

Speaker 11 (24:09):
First of all, I'm like, why am I so charged up?
And I'm not even about to play. It's so funny though,
I even got into that.

Speaker 7 (24:20):
Man.

Speaker 11 (24:20):
I used to watch these videos of ray Lewis as
a kid, Like I was watching like man in two
thousand and five, like when ray Lewis was leading like
leave your mark, never never thinking that I would be
the guy that's like in the huddle doing those things.
And so that's incredible. But yeah, I was too hyped
up for a pre.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
Yeah, not too hyped up, Not at all, not at all.
The game was played, though, we got a highlight that
we want to take a look at and we want
to talk about your squad. Does that work for you?

Speaker 7 (24:46):
Do it?

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (24:46):
Cool?

Speaker 2 (24:47):
So Kellen Moore, as we all know, youngest active head
coach in the NFL now at thirty seven years old,
first time with the headset on for the Saints. This
is a Tyler shup package in television, as we like
to say, second round pick out, a Louisville shuck throws
the shore past his Dante Pettis picked Eric Rodgers runs
to sing back Rogers rookie of Ruckers forty four yard
TV puts more points on the board for the Chargers,

(25:09):
first mistake of the day for Shuck. Moving on next
Saints drive, Chuck looking about back first and ten from
their own forty six roses deep to Mason Tipton, drops
it in the bucket, tips in with a hand up
before he crosses the goal line, a thing of beauty.
Fifty four yard TV. Chuck would finish fifteen to twenty
two bucks sixty five for the TV and that aforementioned interception.

(25:30):
So your guy, Tyler Schuck, now you watched him after
the hype speech, what'd you make of the pick man?

Speaker 7 (25:35):
It was so much that happened in that clip.

Speaker 11 (25:37):
I think there's no greater representation of New Orleans and
what just happened in what we just saw in.

Speaker 7 (25:43):
That five to ten second.

Speaker 11 (25:44):
Yeah, think about adversity, the worst adversary. What's the worst
thing you think you can do as a quarterback is
throw a pick six? And in his first preseason games,
he comes back the next drive and throws a bomb
for a TV. Like that's ultimate resiliency, Like that's ultimate
facing adversity. And starting right in the eye and not blinking,
not flinching, and that's incredible. That's incredible. So I don't

(26:07):
even really it's yeah, yeah, I see the response.

Speaker 4 (26:10):
So you got Tyler shuck.

Speaker 6 (26:11):
But you also have somebody named Chris run that I
know you were you're really impressed with. Talk to us
a little bit about him and the other rookies that
you saw really impressed.

Speaker 11 (26:20):
Well, it was a lot of guys that stood out
in the game. No, we didn't get to win, but
it was guys who had incredible performances. Man, Chris Rump
has had an incredible camp. I mean, this guy is
crazy off the edge him and for their digs, they
were phenomenal and just having that pressure off the edge.
You know, in Brandon Stately system, you gotta have the.

Speaker 7 (26:39):
Pressure off the edge.

Speaker 11 (26:40):
You look at what that like big fans, your system
in Philadelphia, what they were able to do in the
Super Bowl. That that edge pressure you got to have
it and them guys were phenomenal and so major shout
out to them. Got to give a shout out to
my linebackers jayalen Ford and Isaiah Stalberg both led the
team in tackles.

Speaker 7 (26:56):
With a tackles. They were phenomenal, lights out all over
the fielding.

Speaker 11 (26:59):
So there's some guys that that that had big days offense.

Speaker 7 (27:04):
We just we saw shuck. But this Veayleis Jones junior.

Speaker 11 (27:07):
Oh my gosh, oh my god. I love football. I
love dogs, and man, he showed it. Man, he showed
he's a dog.

Speaker 7 (27:16):
Linebackers always cracked me up. You always call out the
other linebackers. You have to. You guys always do that.

Speaker 8 (27:22):
But you're not at all like I thought you would be.
You're actually a nice guy. I've seen you play a
bunch of times from the sidelines. You are an absolute monster.
But I do have to ask you when you have
a new head coach, a young head coach, and a
young quarterback, I mean, how does that inspire you a
veteran that's been through so many battles of wars man.

Speaker 11 (27:37):
First of all, man, I love I love playing for
Kellen Moore, and I'm not just hyping up.

Speaker 7 (27:44):
First of all, were the same age, and I.

Speaker 11 (27:46):
Think I didn't know what it would be like, but
experiencing it, it's almost like we have the same brain.

Speaker 7 (27:53):
If I was running team, I would run.

Speaker 11 (27:54):
It exactly like he runs it going into your fourteen,
Like you can be the grumpy old man in the
locker room, Like I love coming to work every day.

Speaker 7 (28:03):
I love in the work.

Speaker 11 (28:04):
Like I know the record has been what it's been,
but I guarantee you there's nobody having more fun playing
football than New Orleans Saints right now. Wow, we've had
two scrimmages, full scrimmages. Man time, over one hundred plays.
What in camp before the first preseason game? And our
bodies feel fresh? Tell me how you how you do that?

Speaker 7 (28:23):
Man's dude.

Speaker 11 (28:23):
He understands efficiency, He understands like bringing joy to football.
He has an amazing coaching staff. You have you have
a killer in him as an offensive court. Now you
have a killer in Brandis Daily. This ted rap our
strength and conditioning coach is incredible.

Speaker 7 (28:37):
Like I'd rather do OTA's.

Speaker 11 (28:39):
In mini camp at home, But like I actually enjoyed
going to work.

Speaker 7 (28:42):
I got better And so you're fourteen.

Speaker 11 (28:45):
Like the staff that he's assembled, I mean I could
rave about those guys all day. And I mean Kellen
Resume speaks for himself. There's no I have no doubts
about now about how fast he's ascended as a coach.
I think everybody just gets it like he's really different tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
What's great about you is you can talk about things
all around the league and you got your eye on everything.

Speaker 1 (29:06):
There's a lot of talk and has been for months
about Shador Sanders. This Browns rookie quarterback is Dion's son.
You know, the whole deal falls on the draft. Now
plays his first preseason game the other night and looked
really good. What is your take on him and the
remedia's reaction to Shader Sander.

Speaker 7 (29:23):
Man, I'm so glad you asked this question. I'm so
glad you asked question.

Speaker 11 (29:27):
How many people were heartbroken that he didn't land in
New Orleans. But everything happens is exactly how I supposed to. Man,
this brother is, he's divinely blessed. He's divinely blessed. It
doesn't matter where you place him. He's going to shine.
And it doesn't matter who closed the door. There's the
door that's open for him. And that's what he's doing.
He's putting it on display. He fell to what's roynd

(29:50):
default and fourth fIF fifth round, Yeah, you know, and
projected to be first round.

Speaker 7 (29:54):
You haven't seen him be down. You haven't seen him
be complaint. You haven't seen him complain. He showed up.

Speaker 11 (29:59):
He's been the ultimate professional. He's going to the camps,
he's going to talk to the kids, he's signing autograph,
he's being himself.

Speaker 7 (30:05):
And all he's done is showing up in work.

Speaker 11 (30:07):
And when you look at how impressive he looked in
his first preseason game, I don't think anybody was shocked.
And I just think what I think is most impressive
about it is his demeanor in it all. But you
just look at the pedigree that he comes from. His
dad is a Hall of Famer. He's been around it

(30:28):
his whole life. He is built for moments like this,
and I just think it's going to be we all
are going to get a.

Speaker 7 (30:34):
Chance to witness his story.

Speaker 11 (30:35):
And I just love just the light and the aura
that's coming off his life.

Speaker 7 (30:39):
It's amazing to see. Major shout out to you, Shador.

Speaker 4 (30:43):
Now.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
The reason why this is so enlightening what you're saying
about your door is because the Browns have just been
through it when it comes to the quarterback position, and
one of those stops on that emotionally charged train is
the Baker Mayfield experience. We've seen Baker bounce around, and
now you face against him in the NFC South, going
up against the Buccaneers. So what is it like when
you are preparing for a Baker Mayfield experience in the league,

(31:05):
knowing his personality and knowing what he has become as
a quarterback man.

Speaker 11 (31:09):
I'm so a big fan of Baker Mayfield. I'm a
guy that likes to see the underdog adversity story overcoming
because I think life is a journey. We all go
through hard stuff, things don't go the way we want,
and it's not about what happens to you in this world,
but it's about how you respond to it. And Baker
is a representation of that.

Speaker 7 (31:31):
I mean, he's.

Speaker 11 (31:32):
Had many highs in his life, He's had many loads,
but now it's going very well for him. He has
tempa rolling. Every time we get a chance to go
against you know, Baker and Todd Bowles, we already know
what it's going to be.

Speaker 7 (31:45):
That defense is going to be loaded.

Speaker 11 (31:46):
They're going to come out, you know, swinging, got Mike
Evans outside trying to stop him.

Speaker 7 (31:51):
It's going to be a hard day.

Speaker 11 (31:52):
And so and Baker he's running the show and he
has his moment, he's owning it and he's an ultimate
competitor
