Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good Morning Fuck Mom.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Welcome, this is Good Morning Football.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
I am Kyle Brandt, and welcome to the end of
my career. I've done over two thousand shows here at
Good Morning Football, and none of those shows have we
done what we're about to do now, which is take
live callers on the air live here an NFL network.
We've always been a show who wants to include the fans.
We want to hear your voices, and now we're literally
(00:50):
going to do that.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
And before we.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Take this first call, I assure you these are not plants.
They are not actors. You're not going to recognize Mantito's voice.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
It's nothing like that.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
And I think once you hear these callers, you're going
to understand very quickly that they are Finnick reel NFL fans.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
And with that, with a.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Nod to the nineties phone, the eighties phone, and the
Commissioner Gordon phone over my shoulder, we go to the
phones to Massachusetts. Our very first calling in Good Morning
Football history is Virgil. I hope he's named after the
old eighties wrestler Virgil.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
You're on the air, talk to me, no way, is
this Kyle Brad for real? Is this Virgil for real?
Speaker 4 (01:29):
It is wow for four, twenty twenty eighteen, Massachusetts, psampon.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
I've been watching this show.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
I can't believe that not only you, Nate, Kay and Straighter,
but you guys are still going on strong, awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Thank you, Virgil, Thank you, Virgil. We have a lot
of people want to get on the air. I love
your enthusiasm. Do you have any thoughts? Maybe on the
game last night? Lions Ravens Live TV letter rip.
Speaker 5 (01:54):
Virgil, all right, the Ravens.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
First thing, Derek, Derek, y'all gin me.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
They already know you the most powerful, strongest back in
the freaking NFL. Big and fuck your chilies, heel. They
not trying attacking you. They just want to punch the
ball out. You gotta have to punch the ball out
if that's all it is. Hellamarven's sack.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
I didn't even know.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
You high a college game with the YouTube and you
can't escape them clean. Feeling for your mother's gonna go crazy.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
If you like.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Virgil, sorry, I'll take it. I love you, my man.
I wish you luck.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
We had a lot of things there. We had Peter
Schrader reference. We had almost an F bomb emergency, but
he kept it clean and we had a cool, coherent
take on the Ravens. Listen, the Ravens played the Chiefs
next week in Arrowhead. If you don't think the Sark
defense is going to be ripping the ball from Derek
Henry every single chance they get. That is three games
in a row. Guys, we have a successful caller. Thanks
(02:51):
for joining us. We'll see it.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
No, we got more. I just want to remind before
we get next caller. Thank you, Virgil. Virgil still on.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
Thank you, Virgil, I appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Before we get to the next caller, I just want
to point out last segment that Tom Pellisara, one of
the faces of this media group, a very aera dyte
news man, referred to our potential callers in this segment
as quote, random weirdos. Take that virtual call Pellisero. That
was an Emmy winner, and it's only going to get better.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Let's go to Florida, the state of Florida. It's a
wide open net. Christian, you're on the air. Talk to me, Christian.
Speaker 6 (03:23):
I want to wish all of you a good morning,
good Morning NFL Network, You kile absolutely amazing rest of
the GMFB teams.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
I'm a huge.
Speaker 6 (03:32):
Patriots fan in Tampa, Florida. I'm hoping to do a
good enough job like Virgil did with the segment six round.
I want to shout out my dad him and I
love your angry run segment. Jonathan Taylor looked good this
morning when you were showing him off. I think that
grit though from Javonte Williams should have gotten it because
(03:52):
he that run. I know it was only two yards,
but that power he showed against.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
The Bears are crazy.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
I've worked in radio for a long time before I
did this. There's a time honor tradition with callers and
radio in which they do a rapid in which they
call and they want to say something and they want
to talk about the Patriots. Then they wait on hold
and they changed their take and they're like no, no, no, no,
this is much better. So Christian, I love you, I
love your dad. What's your dad's name, Christian, and what's
your taking the Patriots?
Speaker 3 (04:19):
My dad's name is also Christian.
Speaker 6 (04:21):
Funnily enough, and my take on the patent awesome is
that we're finally exciting again, why aren't we playing one
of the most exciting players on our team in Tradeyon Henderson.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
It's a great question, and I know every Pats fan
is saying the same thing. They're saying, I thought Drake
was gonna be a little bit better, and why did
we get Henderson? He's electric? Let's let him go. It's
a great question for Mike Bravil too. You are sitting
there at one and two. You have the Panthers this week,
you have lightning in a bottle on the backfield. Christian,
I feel you. And if you're not gonna look, we
even got videotape. This is television, not radio, all right,
(04:53):
So you get a little taste of Henderson against the Raiders.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
But it's time.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
It's time to take the training wheels off, it's time
to take the diapers off, whatever it is, because you
know what he's doing in these clips, Christian. He's not
fumbling the So basically, you could pull someone out of
Foxborough High School who doesn't fumble the ball and it
will be an improvement.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Over the Patriots last week. Christian.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
As far as I'm concerned, the segment's going great. Take that, haters,
guess what we're staying in Florida next and I'm always
intrigued by a gentleman named Bruce. Bruce, you must be
of a certain age. There's no one under fifty years
old named Bruce.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Bruce. I'm gonna get personal with you. What do you
want to talk about? And what is your age? How
old are you?
Speaker 5 (05:29):
Bruce?
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Good morning?
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Cole Brunce sixty seven.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Years young from Longan.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
I know it every day like you guys.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Bruce, I love you.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
You got you gotta talk cowboys now, right now, Buddy,
they just got hammered against Soldier Field.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
Do your Bruce thing and let me let it rip.
You got it, you got it.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
I grew up on Long Island, New York. I sold
Bullabob Hayde catch a ninety odd bomb from Don Meredith.
That's my team. Grew up on Long Island. Took all
the crap from Judson Jeffs fans. But if we can
get rid of Jerry Jones as a GM we'd be
all right. Okay, they should have beat the Eagle. We
did come back against the Giants, even with all our
stupid play. We should have beat Chicago. They played better,
(06:11):
but Goat threw a couple of picks. We lost our
couple of CD if we again, like you, September now
is our preseason. It's gonna be better. Wait October November.
I like bron Shott. I like his energy. We got
a running game again. Surprise, surprise, we got pickens. We
have the defense once we get our acts together. But
(06:31):
I want to see your take on it. I love
that Cleveland d Green Bay, which is good for the league.
The Rams should have beat the Eagles. Everybody's beatable and
it's only week four, coming up strapped on your fast
and you see about Kyle.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
I love what you do.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
I like when you funk Seth Brollins with your fake injury.
I'm a diehard resting fan.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Two go Bruce, great call, rock them, rack them. That
was coherent, It was insightful. He broke down the league.
He was passionate.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
I'll be a delusional about the Cowboys. Bruce.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
You almost lost me when you started your call with
we just got to get rid of Jerry Jones's GM.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
Bruce, that's not going to happen, my friend. You know it.
I know it.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Listen, there's a lot of people in this country who
would like to get rid of a lot of leaders.
It's not going to happen, okay, Bruce, I love you,
rack them great call. I wish we could give you
a gift card or something, but we can't. However, we
can give you to the people is more calls.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Let's get hot. Now here we go.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Let's go to Ronnie Ronnie in Ohio on the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
Ronnie, you must have a lot to say, because that
was really a disaster last week. You're on the air
running go oh man.
Speaker 5 (07:37):
First of all, Calves, much respect to you. How you doing?
Love you to.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Show angry birds love you?
Speaker 7 (07:42):
Jamie Ardle can't get it out fast enough?
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Man?
Speaker 5 (07:48):
Where to start the offensive line? My god?
Speaker 3 (07:51):
How much longer can Joe Burrow take this?
Speaker 5 (07:55):
What are the Bengals doing?
Speaker 7 (07:57):
I mean I have a lot of questions, man, What
are they doing in the front office?
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Is it the staff?
Speaker 5 (08:02):
Is it the development of players?
Speaker 3 (08:04):
We've had this issue.
Speaker 7 (08:05):
With the Bengals before, you know, not wanting to pay players.
They're no course not going to pay players, and then
when they do, they're overpaying for guys Orlando Brown, j
will you excuse me?
Speaker 3 (08:16):
And you know, not wanting to pay players like Jesse.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
Bates Jesse Bass, Jonathan Joseph.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
You know we had that.
Speaker 7 (08:23):
Issue with not wanting to pay those guys. I mean,
I'm just callum lost. I'm lost here with Ronnie one.
I have no idea what's going on here?
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Ronnie. I hear you. I hear you, and more than that,
I feel you.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
I really feel we could just undo the box score
of what Ronnie just did.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
We had an Orlando Brown Junior referenced.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
He referenced our segment we do here angry Birds, where
I go up on the roof and I take the
birds in a sling shot and I fire them at
these green pigs.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
It's a wonderful segment. Ronnie.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
I love you, and I really feel like you must
be lost right now because even after the Borough injury,
there was all this Jake Browning and maybe Okay, and
you said, what are we spending our money on? You're
spending a lot of money. You're spending money on wide
receivers and quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
None of them block. So it's you.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Only have so much pizza if you're the Bengals, and
you gave about three quarters of it to two wide
outs and a running back.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
So you know this, Ronnie, the plan was.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
I guess we're just gonna score forty points a game,
and then lightning strikes in this play and I hate
seeing this video, but Ronnie, I have to tell you,
good call. You're passionate, you know what. You're nervous, so
am I.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
Ronnie. I think I'm the most nervous person in this segment.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
But I gotta go. I gotta get to Seth. Let's
hang up on Ronnie was great. If this is Seth rollins,
I'm gonna be highly amused. There's not a ton of sets,
but we found one in Arizona. He likes the Chargers
and he has a question about Justin Herbert.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Set hit a home run for me.
Speaker 8 (09:48):
Heabykyll Bran, how's it going?
Speaker 1 (09:51):
It's good man. It's always the first rule of radio.
As a call, you want to make sure to say
how are you doing? How's it going? It's we set
the table with that, and then we get to the
take set. I cannot wait to hear it. Where are
you going with us?
Speaker 2 (10:04):
All right?
Speaker 8 (10:05):
I just want to let you guys know Justin Herbert
has been a top five quarterback since his inception in
the league.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Okay exception, okay, there's some people who don't feel that way, Seth,
there be an eye to challenge your take. But once
you start with the Lamars and the Joshes and all
at al that Herbert is not a top five guy,
and particularly when you saw him in the playoffs throw
all those interceptions, what say you to that?
Speaker 5 (10:29):
Dare? I ask?
Speaker 3 (10:31):
All right?
Speaker 8 (10:32):
So I just want to start off, and Brendon Staley
set his career back with his play calling and defensive
teamings giving up defensive points and as well as the
playoffs showed our weakness, our interior o line, our offensive
weapons and lack thereof, and we had plenty of drop passes.
So it's not all on Herbert.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Man, Seth. I'm a fan of yours. I respect you.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Any fan who uses the phrase interior o line, they
like ball, they like to talk ball, and we like
that kind of person.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
Listen.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
I don't know if you're keeping tracking this segment. And
thank you, Seth. We have had no potty mouth. We've
had not a single baba booie. We've had none of that.
This thing's going swimmingly. I thought this could be one
and done. We might actually be able to do this again.
I'm being told i have to wrap. But I could
sit here and do a three hour radio show if
I have callers. This good shout out to my guy Bruce.
(11:27):
I love you Bruce. I love you, Seth, I.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Love you Ronnie, I love all of them. I would
like to hear.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
From some of the ladies next time we do this,
if the NFL Media Group allows us.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
But god, that's it on the line.
Speaker 9 (11:37):
I'm alive, good mom.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
We got some people here though. Just stig pay for what.
Speaker 10 (12:04):
My real quick first one of the year is only right,
it goes.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
That's how you get down after you win thirty to nothing.
The Panther is an incredible display, and we have one
of the best young players in all of football. How
about Carolina Panthers Pro Bowl Corner j C.
Speaker 9 (12:36):
Let's go j C.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
How are we doing?
Speaker 9 (12:38):
Babay doing good?
Speaker 10 (12:39):
Man doing good? Fright about to win. Ready to get
back to work this week.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
I hear you, I hear you, and you guys are rolling.
We gotta take it.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Take a second to talk about You don't see shutouts
in the NFL very much.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
You certainly don't see shutouts where the other.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
Team doesn't even make it into the red zone. How
does that feel that you guys had that kind of
defensive performance.
Speaker 5 (13:01):
Man, it feels great.
Speaker 10 (13:03):
That was the most dominating win I've been a part
of since I joined this organization. And it's just a
testament to the coaches first off, putting a plan together.
You know, coach he did a good job coming in
and breaking down their game plan to us, and you know,
getting inside the OC brain and see how you want
to attack. And then you know, we had we had
to do a good job of go out there and
executing it. So you know, it's just fun when when
(13:24):
you were able to go out there and dominate like.
Speaker 11 (13:26):
That, JC, you got to tell me as a defender,
there's a point in the game where you're like, okay,
we got these boys goose, like we got to keep
this up. At what point of the game, third quarter,
fourth quarter You're like, hey.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Boys, we can't do this right now.
Speaker 5 (13:39):
Probably at like the end of the third.
Speaker 10 (13:42):
You know, you started to hear it a little bit
on the sideline some of the coaches, you know, preaching
we want to shut out, like let's go out here
and finish, and then it.
Speaker 5 (13:49):
Got kind of scary.
Speaker 10 (13:49):
Their last possession we put in in two and they
drove it down and got past the logo, and then
Ricky Safety Layton Ransom came up with a big forest fumble.
Speaker 5 (13:59):
The security shut out. So man, it was fun out
there for sure.
Speaker 11 (14:02):
So when the reserves are in there, JC, are you
looking at Coach Canal is like hey, coach, put us
back in, or you're like, na, what's it like on
the sideline.
Speaker 5 (14:10):
At that time? Yeah?
Speaker 10 (14:11):
Man, you know you're getting closer to that shut out.
You don't want to you don't want to come out
of the game. You want to secure it. But those boys, man,
they did their thing when they when they got past
the logo. I was a little nervous, but they did
it and caused another turnover, and yeah, we secured the shutout.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
So so what does the rook get.
Speaker 12 (14:26):
He's got to get a heroes welcome when he comes
back to the sideline or the locker room when he
secures the shutout with that turnover.
Speaker 10 (14:33):
Yeah, yeah, we were excited for him, but you know,
he's still a rookie.
Speaker 5 (14:35):
We can't can't give him too much love.
Speaker 12 (14:40):
All right, Well, you have a lot of friends and
family in Atlanta that are Falcons fans that get talk
and he smacked to them after the game.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
If not, you can do it right now if you want.
Speaker 10 (14:49):
I definitely had those conversations with some of my close
friends from high school and some of my family members
that still stay in Atlanta, and yeah, you know how
it was before the game. They there was no way
it was going to beat them, let them tell it.
But we came out there and dominated. So they were
upset Sunday night.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
I believe it, and they should be, not even some
cheap field goal at the end, a nice clean thirty
to zero. But jac you said at the beginning, we
move on you guys now have the Patriots all right?
You're playing the New England Patriots. Fascinating thing. We all
watched them play last week. I'm sure you've seen it.
A lot of turnovers, a lot of fumbles. They put
the ball all over the ground. You as the defensive back, now,
(15:26):
are you guys looking to attack?
Speaker 3 (15:27):
Is that something you've worked on this week?
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Because they're all in their heads about fumbling, that might
be an opportunity for you guys to jump in.
Speaker 10 (15:33):
Yeah, we was watching some of the highlightsned team meeting,
and you know, the balls on the ground a lot
from both teams. But yeah, you know obviously when they
when you put that on film, you know the defense.
Speaker 5 (15:43):
Is going to be coming in hoyting for the ball.
And like you said, I'm.
Speaker 10 (15:45):
Sure has a point of emphasis for them this week
to take care of the football. So we're gonna go
out there and definitely be punching at the football trying
to get it out and we'll see how I go.
Speaker 11 (15:54):
Well, they've been giving up a lot of fumbles, that's
for sure, but you've been getting picks.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Let's go back to Week one.
Speaker 11 (15:58):
Where you had this nasty one handed let's go against
a Jaguars.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
Take me through that, JC, take to that.
Speaker 5 (16:05):
Yeah, man, just just quiet across the bover.
Speaker 10 (16:07):
I was backside to the bay one, have my safety
with me and communicated pre snap. I told him if
seven ran a dig right here, he taken in. I
clowmb high and man, when I looked at the quarterback, man,
it was it was just all off athleticism then, and
you know ball Skill was trying to make a play.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
It's an incredible picture. It's an incredible pick, but it's
not surprising. I me and you look like a wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
You have this in your background listen, your dad, Joe
Horn is a wide receiver for twelve yards in the NFL.
I remember him vividly covering him, following him, drafting him
in fantasy.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
I loved Joe Horn and the way he got down.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
What was it like to be a kid growing up
with your father being at a star wide receiver in
the NFL?
Speaker 5 (16:49):
Man, it was great, It was great.
Speaker 10 (16:50):
You know, I was kind of only remember the back
have of his career when he maybe his last couple.
Speaker 5 (16:55):
Of years in New Orleans and when he went to Atlanta.
Speaker 10 (16:58):
But you know, growing up with a dad that did
it at a high level for a long time, you know,
you able to get no tips and clues as a
kid to where you know, a lot of stuff he
was telling me. As a kid, I didn't understand. It
kind of made more sense to older our guy. And
now that I'm, you know, in year five in the NFL,
I just know like he groomed me, groomed me for
the moments, for this time, and yeah, it's a blessing
to be able to have him in our corner.
Speaker 12 (17:19):
And now you got a friendly rivalry or maybe not
so friendly between you and dad when it comes to golf,
you've taken up the game.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Your goal is to beat dad? How is that going?
Speaker 5 (17:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (17:29):
Man, I picked it up in the off season a
little bit, but you know, when we get back to
the season, we don't really have time to be out
there on the golf.
Speaker 5 (17:36):
You know. That's me a lot of those sports.
Speaker 10 (17:39):
It's one of those sports you got to get a
lot of practice set. So you know, I'm gonna try
to run it back this next off.
Speaker 5 (17:44):
Season and see if I can get him.
Speaker 11 (17:46):
Well, jac your dad is a legend in New Orleans.
I played for New Orleans for a few years, so
I know it very well. What do you remember about
the iconic celebration where he grabbed a cell phone from
beneath the gold posts.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
What do you remember about that?
Speaker 10 (17:59):
I was I was young man, so I don't remember
much of it. But you know from his story, he
was one of those sunny night games. You know, we
had school Monday morning, so my mom she wouldn't let
us go to the game. And he said that was
kind of his way of showing us he had call us,
because that's what he told us before he left the house. So, yeah, man,
it's a famous clip, probably one of the greatest celebrations
of all time man, and it it was pretty cool
(18:21):
to see.
Speaker 11 (18:21):
Well, I know you're probably about four years old at
that time, but when I played for New Orleans, Michael
Thomas try to duplicate that. I'm not sure if you
saw that, but if you did see Michael Thomas do it,
I know Dad saw it as well. What did you
guys think as a family when you saw that happen?
Speaker 5 (18:35):
Yeah, man, we were excited, you know my dad.
Speaker 10 (18:36):
My dad loved it, him bringing the celebration back out
and just showing his respects to Ogez.
Speaker 5 (18:42):
Man. It was exciting for sure.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
See listen, it's just occurring to me now. If you
ever had it in you to, like you grabbed the
pick six or you scored.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
And you went and found a phone and got it
out there, the world would lose their mind. It'd be
the biggest thing in history. Would you ever even.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
Consider that because everyone would love it.
Speaker 5 (19:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (19:03):
If I played offense, I mean, I'm sure to be
a little easier because I got to high a chance
of reaching his zone. But you know, pig six don't
have Pig six's don't happen every week, So I had
to put a phone in his zone. I was every
week just to you know, hope the pig six happened.
So it's it's kind of hard to replicate. But if
I get when, I might have something in a tough
for him.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Just be ready.
Speaker 12 (19:21):
Because it's a thirty thousand dollars fine.
Speaker 5 (19:23):
That's fine.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
Michael Thomas got fined it probably a team.
Speaker 12 (19:26):
That's what Dad got fined in twenty twenty oh three,
fifteen years later, the fine would still.
Speaker 3 (19:31):
There to be worth it. It'd be the coolest thing
of all time.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
Jac No, definitely definitely be worth it.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
All right, Well, listen, we want to let's just close
with this.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
This is a very exciting up and coming Panthers team.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
The way you ended last year, the way you played
last week, give us a little taste moving forward about
what you want to see and some of the goals
are for the twenty twenty five Panthers under dead Canalis.
Speaker 10 (19:54):
I'm really just replicating when we did Sunday showing it's
not a flute, you know, refocusing every week, you know,
focusing on going one to know, that's kind of where
our mindset is now.
Speaker 5 (20:02):
You know, we don't want to be the same old pen.
Speaker 10 (20:04):
We want to show we wanted the best teams in
this league, and you know, just keep putting in and
work and getting better every week.
Speaker 5 (20:10):
There's one of the things coach canal is harp.
Speaker 10 (20:12):
Song is you know, not getting caught up in what
everybody's saying or the oozing eze just because they're gonna
be with us if we win and go against us
if we lose. So just staying together as a team,
focusing on getting better every week and hopefully the wins
starts stacking.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Say see here a beauty man, great player, great dude,
great story.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
We love having you on. We wish you all the
luck in the world. And you go get a scooping
score this weekend, all right, my man.
Speaker 5 (20:33):
Yes, sir man, I appreciate you all for having me.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
Good Morning Football.
Speaker 13 (20:56):
It's a true honor here on Good Morning Football. It's
not only be in Dublin, Ireland. Ahead of this Sunday
morning matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and the Pittsburgh Steelers,
the first ever regular season game, even though the Steelers
have quite a history in this country, regular season is
the most important part of this The scene is gorgeous.
We are in front of a golf course where the
(21:16):
Steelers are staying and practicing, and I am now joined
by a new teammate of mine, Pam Oliver.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
Who Good morning football.
Speaker 13 (21:24):
I first time, Pam, first time.
Speaker 8 (21:27):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
We're honored.
Speaker 14 (21:28):
I'm great, and it's so great to be with you.
We're going to work Sunday together.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
So I can't believe this for me?
Speaker 14 (21:33):
Is this?
Speaker 13 (21:33):
What is your history working sideline on international games?
Speaker 14 (21:37):
I did one London game. It was years ago, okay,
and that was that was one and done.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
One and done well.
Speaker 13 (21:43):
Now they're bringing you back for a pretty important one.
It just feels like there's such historical contexts and importance
to this. As I mentioned, you'll be on the Steelers sideline.
I'll be on the Viking sideline. But let's talk about
the Steelers a little.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Bit, shall we.
Speaker 13 (21:56):
Specifically, people kind of love the history that you have
with the quarterback of the Steelers now, but a lot
of that had to do with his time in Green Bay.
Do you have a rough estimate of the years or
the games covered of Aaron Rodgers. It was his entirety.
Speaker 14 (22:13):
It was the entirety while he was behind Bred, so
it would have been the whole thing. Every now and then,
we'll talk a little bit about it, but just to
watch him start finally behind bread and watch his ascent
and watch him grow, it was really special to me.
He's one of those guys who were like, you seem
(22:35):
to have a great rapport with him, and I do,
and you know, I'm really happy about that because he
doesn't let a lot of people in and because of that,
you really just have to be true to what he is.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
And he's different.
Speaker 14 (22:52):
You know, he's mercurial, he's interesting, he's a lot of things.
So to kind of watch him brides like that, it
would have been immediately after he started.
Speaker 13 (23:04):
How do you think that that happened for you specifically?
Was it just as in football terms, time on task?
Speaker 3 (23:10):
Was it?
Speaker 13 (23:11):
Do you have a moment or a part of his
life or your life even where you really felt like
the friendship was established.
Speaker 14 (23:19):
Yeah, there were a couple of things, but it's more recent.
It's been later I think in our relationship that because
we were both looking at each other knowing that this
is going to end soon. Yeah, and you just want
to show appreciation to a person that meant a lot
to you as a professional and some of the things
(23:40):
that he's been able to do, and I think he
looks at me and he thinks that someone who's been fair.
That is my greatest goal with any kind of player
relationship is just to be fair and to meet these
guys where they are instead of like, well, why isn't
he doing the media this week? Sure, you know what
(24:00):
if you don't want to do it this week, Yeah,
he's human, I'll get you next time. So I think
that has a lot to do with what our relationship is.
Speaker 13 (24:09):
It's an important lesson for anyone, frankly getting into television.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
Or sports is to be fair.
Speaker 13 (24:13):
So I want everybody to hear that doesn't just pertain
to Aaron Rodgers. Something else you said struck me, which
is in his time backing up Brett Farr and we
chatted with him about this a little bit in our
time with him ahead of the game on Sunday, which
is we are really in an error right now with
young quarterbacks where everyone is obsessed with should you start him,
should you bench him?
Speaker 3 (24:33):
How much do you rest him? It's a tough one.
Speaker 13 (24:36):
What do you remember of Aaron at that time when
he was behind? Because it's easy to look back and
be like I was happy as a client what was
he like?
Speaker 5 (24:43):
He was impatient?
Speaker 9 (24:44):
Impatient?
Speaker 3 (24:45):
He was impatient.
Speaker 14 (24:48):
There's no end in sight when Brett Farv is in
front of you and he's performing at a high level,
So what's next when do I get my shot? I
think he was a good soldier and all of that,
and how helpful was Brett? I mean that was always
a topic of this but and Aaron's mentioned some things
about that. But with the young quarterback controversy, questions, however
(25:12):
you want to put it, He's got great, great things
to say on that, and you know he's speaking from
a sage position, and it's it's an interesting conversation. It's
a fascinating conversation here how this veteran quarterback looks at
putting these young kids in because he had the benefit
(25:33):
of waiting. He mentioned Jordan Love having the benefit of waiting.
So I think you look at that and you look
at the roadkill for lack of a better roadkill. Yeah,
it's it's sad, but some of these organizations, you just
(25:55):
got to look at that organization and figure out what's
they're about.
Speaker 13 (25:59):
It's an oftentimes mismanaged situation. You've seen it all though,
which is ye, it feels like in a way that
you can tell really beautiful stories and you can identify
the fairness and the roadkill along the way. And because
of that, because of how you've handled yourself in all
your years, you're going into the Sports Broadcasting.
Speaker 8 (26:19):
Hall of Fame in December, are you not.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
I am congratulations.
Speaker 14 (26:22):
Thank you so much. I got that called Jamie, and
I was beside myself. I was cheery, I was calls
were coming in and it just doesn't seem like I've
been at this long enough. I know I have, but
it just feels ah surreal, and I'm in some excellent
(26:44):
company and it's really heavy stuff. But I'm honored that
they looked at my body of bork and said come
join us.
Speaker 13 (26:54):
Well again, it's congratulations is not a large enough word
to say to you when it comes to this accomplishment.
But what I have known of you now in watching
your work and also getting to know you and our
time together ahead of this game, what I'm observing is
that your body of work was honored because you are
the same person on and off, and I think players
and coaches recognize that. The people that watch you on
(27:16):
TV recognize that I know growing up in Minnesota, watching
you and Vikings fans they love you for your coverage.
So once again on behalf of Good Morning Football, and
I'm speaking.
Speaker 14 (27:24):
For all of us.
Speaker 13 (27:25):
Congratulations so cool of this.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
Watch a Sunday.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
We're gonna kill it.
Speaker 9 (27:30):
Yeah, they are.
