Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good Morning Football.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
I'm saying wild stuff.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
I was actually miked up today and I was coming
off the field.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
I'm like, hey man, we're gonna have to We're gonna
have to do some heavy editing. He'll probably just feel
out of silence.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Released the Stafford cut.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
I want to hear what he said on the Matthew
Stafford not known for soundbites.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
If he says he had one, I want to hear it.

Speaker 5 (00:45):
Yeah, we don't accept dead air on Good Morning Football
for Whiteboard Wednesday, Kyle, you heard it. Stafford admitted that
he had some not so PG thirteen words. Now, some
players take this stance that they do that on purpose
or they stop getting miked up. That doesn't really apply
to the quarterback. They're always going to want to hear
what you have to say. The Rams played the Colts
on Sunday and Kyle did the director's cut. Well, Kyle,

(01:06):
asking you shall receive. Here was Stafford on his touchdown
pass to to two at well buckle up.

Speaker 6 (01:27):
I told you they just leaned right into that one.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Huh.

Speaker 6 (01:36):
Georgia Bulldog and a bleeping dog. All right, d A
W G.

Speaker 5 (01:40):
We always want to clarify here on this show what
kind of dog you are Matthew Stafford. We love that
you know it about yourself. However, here's the challenge at
the table, keep it clean. What word would you guys
describe mat?

Speaker 4 (01:52):
I know?

Speaker 5 (01:52):
Did you just shake your head and you have to
raise your word? Now ahead, Van, say what word?

Speaker 2 (01:58):
One word? One animal?

Speaker 7 (02:00):
He's an angler fishy a nice Fish's an angler fish.
The reason he's an angler fish, guys, is this.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
How many times.

Speaker 7 (02:06):
In during the training camp do we have the staff
con go up there like there's a there's an injury.
When he was a Detroit Lion. I can hear heart
his his shoulder in that that Cleveland Brown game.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Yeah, he still goes out there. He like lures you in.

Speaker 7 (02:19):
He's like, I'm hurt, there's an issue here. You should
you shouldn't be worried about me, And then he goes
out there and throws for a whole bunch of touchdowns
on a whole bunch of yards. Matt Stafford to me
is the angler fish. He just he throws an injury
out there. He has this little van that helps him
recover and then he just goes out and plays like
he's twenty five years old. So I got Matt Stafford,
He's my angler fish.

Speaker 5 (02:39):
You are an artist, yes, yes, And also like the
technicality that is the word well done. However it can
be a word or a phrase, because I know the
creativity lends itself sometimes like the brain has to go
certain ways.

Speaker 6 (02:50):
So go ahead, all right, here we go.

Speaker 8 (02:52):
So I'm gonna go straight to my picture right here.
If you guys can bring my picture up, Jamie, I
want you to go ahead and tell.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Me what this is. Yeah, we get what movie? Is this?

Speaker 6 (03:00):
The beast beauty into what the beast.

Speaker 8 (03:02):
Beauty in the beast. That's right, Matthew Effort is a
complete beast. I love everything about this dude. This dude
all he does is win. He's one heck of a competitor.
You want to talk about the game that we just saw,
this dude had three hundred and seventy five yards passing
seventy seventy percent completion. In terms of his career over
sixty thousand yards passing, he is tenth all time in passing.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
That's over Eli Manning. That's over Warm Moon.

Speaker 8 (03:25):
That's over John Elway oh, and he has some jewelry
to show for it.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
I like this dude. He's a beast.

Speaker 5 (03:31):
He kind of looks like Eric when he comes to
life after being the beast.

Speaker 6 (03:33):
Yes, right, what's up?

Speaker 2 (03:35):
It's kind of weird that Bell was in love with
an animals. It's all this kind of kind of strange,
all right. I mean it's a little weird.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
God's heart the close and caring and he loved her
who she.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Was everybody's oldest time. Her book.

Speaker 6 (04:00):
Thoughtful Fathers. He said, you can go by the way.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Seth Gaston is the man she should have been with power.
I have for some reason with Seth here.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
I just have pro wrestling on the mind and Seth,
I'm interesting what you think of this? I have a
pro wrestling comp for Matthew Stafford.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
This is this guy right here. It's it's Randy Orton, dude.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
This is the guy longevity, consistency. He's not always the
face of things, but he's always super respected, and he's
powerful and dominant. And there's been resurgencies laid in their careers,
and their careers just seem to keep getting better and better.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Huge physical talents.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
Randy Orton is won the belt Stafford has won the
Lombardi Like, this is my guy, Seth, tell me I'm wrong.
I love both these dudes.

Speaker 9 (04:48):
Dude, I think you and I are like connected today.

Speaker 10 (04:52):
Maybe it's the Bears fit.

Speaker 9 (04:53):
Maybe there's something going on because that's a perfect example,
and it segues right into mind which there's no profanity.

Speaker 10 (05:01):
As we underrated, underrated.

Speaker 9 (05:05):
And the reason I say that is kind of piggybacks
on what everybody's saying. You mentioned all the stats, Isaiah Kyle.
You mentioned Randy Ordon, perfect example. He's a guy who
does it all. He's got the harder I'm not going
to go into the stats, and you got all that done.
He's got all the numbers to be the greatest quarterback
of this generation.

Speaker 10 (05:26):
But he doesn't get that love. He doesn't get like
the Pat Mahomes love.

Speaker 9 (05:31):
He doesn't get to talk like Jalen Hurts. He just
doesn't get that. I mean, you mentioned John Elway one
of the greatest of all time. Matthew Stafford arguably better,
and he's still got years left to play, and so
I just think he kind of gets like left off
of these lists when people start talking about goat level
quarterbacks and maybe that's because he played in Detroit for
so many years.

Speaker 10 (05:51):
I don't know, but you look at him now, dude,
he's a baller.

Speaker 9 (05:55):
He makes everybody on his team better like he is.
He is always there, no matter how hurt he is.
I was not sure, Mantai if you were going like ugly, ugly,
I was like, what are we doing here with this?
I mean, he's a nice looking guy. No gust On,
gust On, but he's okay, And like the thing is,
he just delivers in crunch time.

Speaker 10 (06:17):
He said it himself. He's a dog. Yeah. So that's
how I feel about him.

Speaker 9 (06:22):
A little underrated, little underappreciated, Okay, feeling on Stafford Baby, a.

Speaker 5 (06:26):
Four time main character arc of Whiteboard Wednesday, means the
second round's gotta go quick, all right, everybody, So write
your answers and explain yourself swimmingly, shall we? The Jets
go to zero and four after their Monday Night lost
to the Miami Dolphins. They now have the Cowboys waiting
in the wings in Week five, a game that Garrett
Wilson says they.

Speaker 11 (06:42):
Gotta have this past week was a gut to have it,
and in fact we just played how we did Now this,
this becomes absolutely gotta have it. You got to get
on the board. It's a home game, protect our protect
our home field. And and just at the end of
the day, what do you want your legacy to be
in this in this league? Man, I look back on
my time and man, we gotta we gotta go now.

Speaker 12 (07:03):
You gotta have it this week.

Speaker 11 (07:04):
And I'll make sure to relate as a team because
I'm sure they offer the same.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
All Right, So Garrett Wilson says, when don't I Football
got to have it week five? Dallas Cowboys absolutely got
to have it, man, Ti we added a word, what
other team absolutely has to have.

Speaker 6 (07:15):
It week five?

Speaker 7 (07:16):
Well, we talked about it to begin this show. It's
got to be the New York Giants. Guys like you
starting this momentum and how many times that we have
this quarterback or this d veto where this Danny dimes
you have a game and you get so excited and
then it just flattens. Like I think the Giants need
this swin. You're going against New Orleans Saints. Let's follow
up from a great, great win, a physical win offensively
and defensively.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
So I got the New.

Speaker 6 (07:36):
York Giants Isaiah.

Speaker 8 (07:38):
All right, I am not the artist at this table, okay,
but I'm going to try to channel my intermantai.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
And by doing so. Yeah, that's good.

Speaker 12 (07:45):
I love it.

Speaker 8 (07:46):
I'm gonna go with the Ravens.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Okay.

Speaker 8 (07:51):
The boys are one to three. They got to figure
it out. They may not have Lamar Jackson, Cooper Rush, lock.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
It up, let's go.

Speaker 6 (07:56):
Is that the Beast from the Beast Yoda?

Speaker 2 (07:59):
I don't know what that passes?

Speaker 9 (08:04):
That looks like a foot.

Speaker 10 (08:09):
I'm going obvious.

Speaker 9 (08:10):
I'm obvious, yes, yes, yes, I mean it's Garrett Wilson
nailed the dude.

Speaker 10 (08:15):
And for Justin Fields, for Aaron Glenn.

Speaker 9 (08:18):
You gotta have this game, Dallas is Their defense is
not good, Guys, it is not good. This is the
time unload. Give me some points, show me some offense.
I haven't seen nothing since Week one with Pittsburgh. Like,
give me I need a win man, new coach. I mean,
I don't know. It's obvious, but it's got to be.
The Jets gotta be.

Speaker 6 (08:36):
You gotta be.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
I hear the Jets for sure, I hear you. Listen,
we all have families. We've been on trips.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
Sometimes when you kind of are just ready for the
trip to be over. You just want to go home.
You just want to sleep in your own bed. Jamie,
I'm gonna go right to you. I mean, how about
these guys. They go to Ireland, Great, they lose to
the Steelers.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Oh they got to come home. No, they stay.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
They stay in Europe to play another game in Europe.
If you lose this one and you lose the Cleveland,
you're like, oh my god, for two in Europe. I
really respect the Vikings organization, like we're up for it.
We have Vikings phones over there. But like, sometimes you
just want the trip to end. They've been sitting there
just waiting to play this game. I hope for their
sake that they win at Jamie, And.

Speaker 5 (09:17):
Unfortunately the rubin Elbow is on the flight between Ireland
and London with guys that are hurt and they can't
play and like their game would be better, Like Aaron
Jones is on the trip. JJ McCarthy is sitting there
in sweatpants. Andre van Ginkel can't go. It's just like
it's a lot of together time and normally I'm all
for that, Kyle, but it's a great point.

Speaker 6 (09:33):
Speaking of that game in Dublin.

Speaker 5 (09:35):
It was Viking Steelers, and it was a grand old time. Specifically,
before the game, I urgently was ushered to a side
of the field because there was an opportunity to interview
Jason Kelsey and Bill Murray, such an odd pair, and frankly,
I had about forty five seconds for my brain to
understand what was happening before we stood up together and
had a conversation. Bill Murray offered me candy, and away

(09:55):
we went. Here he is, though, Bill Murray the Great
talking about our show to end this interview, I like.

Speaker 12 (10:02):
That show in the morning.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
I didn't I think I was gonna like that show,
But I've really gotten to like that show.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Yes, I said, I'm not sure about these people.

Speaker 6 (10:09):
It's because I took the candy.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Wasn't it. No, it wasn't about the king. I gave
you a candy too, Thank you.

Speaker 6 (10:15):
No, I'll give me another king.

Speaker 10 (10:16):
Bill is hardly a stranger, that's right.

Speaker 5 (10:19):
Bill Murray's is everybody's favorite uncle, is what I would
call him.

Speaker 6 (10:22):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (10:23):
I don't know who he was talking about, who he
wasn't gonna like, but Bill Murray, Kyle, I've never felt
more validated than he likes the.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
Show, Jamie, I'm dying to know, like, why did you
not think you were going to?

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Like, actually, I'm afraid to know the answer.

Speaker 6 (10:38):
But god right, all right, So here's the question.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
Bill Murray, everybody's favorite uncle, offering people candy on the
field of football game.

Speaker 6 (10:44):
It's great.

Speaker 5 (10:44):
That was my favorite version of Bill Murray. Manti, What
is your favorite Bill Murray performance? We're going to clip
this off and send it to him because he loves us.

Speaker 7 (10:51):
My favorite performance and one of my favorite movies. Guys,
it's Space Jam and matter of fact, what got a
beautiful gift right here from Chris McClain. Check this out, Kady,
a VHS version of Space Jam and the wrapper.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
It's still good to go, guys.

Speaker 6 (11:07):
There's a commemorative queen.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Yes, we ain't opening this for centuries. This is gold
in my hand. We got this hand this hand.

Speaker 5 (11:15):
You can get five dollars off Dold bananas for the.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Kids who are too young.

Speaker 7 (11:20):
There used to be a place called Blockbuster, and this
was the only place that I could get this movie,
this one right here.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
That's that okay, man, that's aged a lot better than
the r. Kelly soundtrack on that. I'll tell you that.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
I said, what do you got say it?

Speaker 8 (11:34):
Wow, Chicago, you have to go with doctor Peter Vinkman
right there from Ghostbusters. I loved him because he was
a smart dude. He was a PhD.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
He had a backpack. Everybody used to work.

Speaker 8 (11:49):
Rock the jam sports back in the back of the day,
and this dude got slimed. He was ready to take
on all the dog ghosts that you can ever imagined.
Doctor Vinckman is my dude, Matt.

Speaker 9 (11:58):
I had a lot of stuff going on in my head.
Guys when Bill Murray came up, I really did you know?
And and look my first answer, I've told it was taken.
I was told he was taken. So I had to
come up with a second answer. I came up with
a second answer. But then when I was I was
watching Jamie You with Bill Murray, it occurred to me
that my favorite performance of all time, it's just it's

(12:18):
Bill Murray. Yeah, it's just it's the legends great, the
legend of Bill Murray. He just shows up in Dublin
randomly at the football game.

Speaker 10 (12:27):
Everybody's got like a weird Bill Murray's story.

Speaker 9 (12:31):
One time I had a neighbor who knew Bill Murray
in Davenport, Iowa. Showed up at his house and brought
him to my front door to say hi to me.

Speaker 10 (12:40):
I wasn't home, I wasn't home. I missed him. I
missed Bill Murray. But I love the lore.

Speaker 12 (12:46):
Man.

Speaker 9 (12:46):
I love the no cell phone, the no agent. Like,
you just can't get a hold of this guy. He
just shows up randomly in weird spots like that's the
performance of a lifetime.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
That's that's.

Speaker 7 (12:58):
When when you were at home when he came over
to the door.

Speaker 10 (13:00):
This was like two years ago.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
This was like two years ago.

Speaker 10 (13:04):
Because he's like two years ago.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
I run into my neighbor.

Speaker 9 (13:06):
Like six months later and he's like, man, I try
to bring Bill Murray over to your house.

Speaker 10 (13:10):
I go, excuse me, excuse me, what are you talking about?

Speaker 9 (13:14):
This is insane. On top of all this, I have
a favorite band of mine. It's called Bill Murray.

Speaker 10 (13:19):
That's right. He's so awesome.

Speaker 9 (13:21):
They named their band after him, spelled differently, b I
L m U R. I actually playing in Los Angeles
this Sunday. I'm going to see them. Still check them out.
Weird hybrid country rock band. Anyway, dude, he's a special.
You just don't see people like Bill Murray walking around.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
You don't get that lore.

Speaker 9 (13:38):
Everybody's on social media. Everybody's easy to get hold of it.
You know everything about everybody. Bill Murray man, he's like
he's one of one.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
And that's I want to see that band, Bill Murray.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
I heard Dan Akroyd's opening up for them too, so
that'd be an.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Incredible set, all right. Bill Murray in the nineties was
churning out bangers.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
He's doing stuff like a Groundhog Day, He's doing What
About Bob and a few other things, and then he
takes like a three year break and he goes away
for a while, and then he drops this movie with
the Fairly Brothers called.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
Kingpin, in which he plays Big Urn.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Aka Ernie McCracken, a bowler, and the scene in which
he's sitting there in the diner and he says tanker
Ray and tab and the waitress brings it over and
he says, keep it coming, sweets.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
I got a long drive ahead of me.

Speaker 4 (14:21):
You want to do me a favor, wash off that
perfume before we come back to our table.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
It is an.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
Unbelievable display in which Woody Harrelson just leaves the scene
because it's so good. My take on his performance is
Big Ernie McCracken, it is Bill Murray's funniest performance of
his career.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
And I know that's a hot take.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
In Ghostbusters, Pete Fankman is great, is kind of odd.
In Caddy Shack, Carl Speckler's just so over the top
and weird. In Groundhog Day, Phil Connors, it's mostly driven
by the device of the plots and pure funny. I'm
gonna play a bowler with a comb over. And Big
ern is finally above the law, I think the funniest
performance of his career. And the informercial with the kids

(14:57):
and the lady, and we can go on and on
and on. Big ern is above the Law. And my
pick listen that movie too, was my Pig. It's a
weird one of the night. What you're saying, that's what
you are, sir.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
And to add on to.

Speaker 8 (15:12):
What you're saying, it was his funniest, his funniest role
because he ad libbed the whole thing. He took the script,
read the script, tossed it to the side, and ad
libbed the entire movie because he understood the role and
what the significance was.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
That's so cool. That's well done. Everybody listen to.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
Answer Tucky.

Speaker 5 (15:46):
Good football friend of the show, joining us now on
g um f B A Steeler's legend, like we love
him as much.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
Keep doing what's going on bad top of the morning?

Speaker 5 (16:04):
You The only time that should be said on this
show is he who had just returned from Dublin wearing
what I can only assume is a hat that you
did not own before you went on this trip.

Speaker 6 (16:13):
Is there a story before? What's on the top of
your head there, Bud.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
That's true. I got to go down to Kennedy's Pub
where they got me this fit his lid, and I
got to teach my friend Andrews Stocky how to pour
the perfect pint nice. It takes technique, So we got
to go down there and have a great time with
those guys at Kennedy's.

Speaker 5 (16:32):
As does a pass rush. It takes great technique with
both of those things. I'm sure you know all too
well now, Brett, just real quick, you and I were
both in town over the weekend in Dublin. What I
observed was it appeared in Dublin that the crowd was split,
or let's say forty percent Steelers fans, forty percent Vikings,
and then twenty neutral. You know, you saw a bunch
of random jerseys. However, when you got inside Croke Park,

(16:55):
it felt like the Steelers and the Terrible Towels took over.

Speaker 6 (16:58):
What was it like for you being a former player, definitely.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
Felt like a home game. It was a gold takeover.
I fell from the jump, and that's one of the
special things about being in Pittsburgh Steelers is how our
fans travel, how they roll, how they support the team.
It was just great to be there with them kind
of leading up to the game. Even yesterday flying back,
about eighty percent of my flight that I was on

(17:24):
with Steeler fans. So I had to get up and
tell those guys thank you and thanks for supporting the team.
Cut over there in Dublin because it was just like
a home game.

Speaker 7 (17:33):
Yeah, I know, Brett. They're known for their fans, but
they're also known for defense. I personally wanted to thank
you because eight twenty ten, Pittsburgh Steelers defense had a
tremendous impact on me and the way that I played
the game. But the defensive line in Pittsburgh has a
legacy with like no other Where does TJ. Watt fit
in that hierarchy of defensive linemen.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
Oh, buddy, he's up there with all the greats. You know,
he's one of the best players that's ever done the
back Black and Gold. He's a generational type talent. When
you have players like him and that completely can take
over a game and make impactful games. Even when he's
getting triple team, double team, quaudruple team, TJ finds a
way to get it done and make splash plays. And

(18:16):
that's what really was the difference in the game there
against the Vikings is turnovers and splash plays on d.

Speaker 8 (18:22):
I'm going to take you on a roller coaster of
emotions here. I'm going to take you back to Super
Bowl forty five. Your Steelers failed to the Packers thirty
one and twenty five, and the MVP of that game
was some quarterback by the name of Aaron Rodgers. What
did you think when you heard the news that Aaron
Rodgers was signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers your squad.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
It was pretty crazy. You know, that was a tough
day down in Dallas. That was a tough day. But
you know, to get a quarterback of his caliber, someone
that could really still get the job done. Who is
an MVP in this league and a competitor like no
other first ballot Hall of Famer. All those accolades come
with Aaron Rodgers, and he keeps showing it at his

(19:03):
age that he can get it done. Big play there
to DK Man, that was a huge play of the game.
I love having him here. He brings a certain swagger
and I think Steeler Nation is really opening their arms
to him, being like, yeah, let's go. Maybe we can
get back to the Big Dance with this guy.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Hey, I love hearing that. That's what the Steelers are
all about.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
But the guys who just won the Big Dance, they're
in the same state as the Steelers. Philadelphia Eagles, Dude,
I'm going to say something.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
I just want your reaction to it.

Speaker 4 (19:31):
The tush push, Well, it's legal.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
I feel like we should have used it more in
the game. I was actually calling when we had those
short yards plays like let's do it. It's tough to defend,
but at the same time, I think it's tough to practice.
One of the reasons the Eagles are so good at
is because it's been a part of their game plan
for a long time, and I think they haven't mastered
and I don't think anybody can really doubt that, but

(19:57):
I think the other teams should use it. It's a
third and short situation that's, I mean, really tough to block.

Speaker 4 (20:02):
Well, how tough would it be to let me give
you a hypothetical. It's yourself, Casey Hampton, Aaron Smith, all
the boys are back together.

Speaker 13 (20:13):
Well, yeah, ash that we would have smashed it with
the big let's go.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
You know that they could have tried that. It would
have been a done deal, so it would have been over.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
But you know, it's.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
It's definitely part of the game that's you need.

Speaker 5 (20:29):
Yeah, But Brett, all respect to that quarterback that you
played in that Super Bowl a while back, did you
not see rogers.

Speaker 6 (20:36):
On going for it fourth and inches and he.

Speaker 5 (20:38):
Is like ten feet behind the scrum of players just
pointing in the down of the I don't you have
to have the quarterback that's willing.

Speaker 6 (20:45):
To put his nose into the tush push participation.

Speaker 5 (20:48):
All respect to Rogers, but in Dublin he was like, no,
I'm not I'm not messing around with that group.

Speaker 6 (20:53):
Did you see that?

Speaker 3 (20:54):
That surprised me because they mean that'send eleven on ten.
You know, get in there just looked like you were
trying to get a pint back there, but with the.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Hands on the hid right.

Speaker 5 (21:06):
Like Kyle just mentioned, you played with some absolute legends.
All to the to the summation of the fact that
one of those dudes, you have a pet and you
name that animal after a former teammate of yours.

Speaker 6 (21:19):
Do I understand this correctly?

Speaker 5 (21:20):
You have a horse and his name is James, and
he was named after James Harrison.

Speaker 6 (21:25):
We need more about this story.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Please, thank you for.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
Bringing in the farm. Oh yeah, I definitely love to
name my animals after Steelers. I have that's James right there.
He was born on James Harrison's birthday May fourth, So
I thought, what a better way to, you know, be
able to roll with my guy wherever I want. Joe,
Let's ride James, Let's ride.

Speaker 12 (21:50):
You know.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
It's been a lot of fun because James has come over. Yeah,
you could see us there. We had a birthday party.
He's got the birthday hats on. We have a ton
of fun. And I actually have some cows too named
after Steelers. I have bull Cow and I have Dick Lable.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
It's good stones Ward.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
Right, It's a lot of fun. And our farm is
totally stillered out nice.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (22:22):
All right, so you got to you gotta have a
pig named jack Hamburg.

Speaker 5 (22:27):
There.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
I can do this all day.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
I love it, unbelievable, it's so great. I also listen,
you have so many stories about you and so much lore.
I heard a story that when you came to Pittsburgh
that you really didn't understand or even know who Dan
Rooney was when he introduced himself to you.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
Is that true?

Speaker 3 (22:48):
It is? I knew nothing really about Pittsburgh. My images
of Pittsburgh was what I saw as a kid in
books or anything. Looked like a dark, still town, smoke
and smog everywhere. I was so shocked when I came
through four pitt Bridge there and you pop and we
have at door on like anything else here in Pittsburgh,
and they take us down. I went to the south

(23:08):
Side Facility. You spend the day meeting everybody after your
first coming there, and he was the last guy I met.
And I went this room and there's a guy with
khaki's on and he's just hanging out. He's got like
a polo shirt on and he's making copies at a
copier and I'm like, okay, you know, and they said, oh,
this is so and so, and I was like, hey,
you know, it's long in the day. Nice to meet you.

(23:31):
And I walked out and I told my guy he
was showing me around. I was like, man, that's awesome.
You guys hired like senior citizens and stuff around here.

Speaker 12 (23:40):
Oh my god.

Speaker 13 (23:42):
He said, what whoa what what did you just say?
And I was like, that's really cool. And he's like,
that's the owner, buddy, Oh my gosh. But that's how
the Rooneys are.

Speaker 14 (23:54):
Man.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
They were like a family down here, and they're at everything.
You see him at every meal, you see him at
every practice, mister Dan Rooney, who's right up here above
me on my left.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
You know.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
It was such a big part of our lives. And
being able to have the chance to go over to Dublin,
where he was an ambassador for our country was incredible,
you know. And to see Steeler Nation take it over
like they did, and of course for the team to
pull out the big win was huge and just the
perfect fitting for our team and our tan Brett.

Speaker 5 (24:27):
You're a legend, man, and that as you mentioned in Dublin.
It really felt like everyone was so invested in what
the Steelers and the Rooney family wanted to put out
in the country, and they did just that. Bret heasl
you're the man and listen, can I can I make
a request I at a GMFB any more farm animals
that you name after Steelers?

Speaker 6 (24:47):
Can you just tag us?

Speaker 5 (24:48):
So we are up to the minute with this because
we feel like I can already see Kyle Brandt's brain
just the wheels are turning with ideas.

Speaker 15 (24:56):
You got it, guys.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
I'm with you, man. Thank you guys so much for
having me and you guys are doing a great job.
I appreciate it all. There you go, they are there.
That's my team right there. That's the team.

Speaker 4 (25:08):
There's haying Fellows those you need you need a cow,
call that Troy polol Mala MoU with the moon.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
We do got Polo mall.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Yeah. On the roster.

Speaker 12 (25:19):
I love all the roster.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
He's already there.

Speaker 13 (25:22):
But yeah, we'll definitely tag you guys.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
And I know you guys can help me. I couldn't
have done it with out Steeler Nation. They're the ones
that kind of helped me with it along the way,
So I gotta give.

Speaker 15 (25:33):
Those well done, Mom, calleaf Raymond back deep for Detroit.

Speaker 12 (25:58):
Hol it's a low Kate.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
Let's go go back. Check it out. The forty five
leaf Ramon Ohm go loop still gold. What the cad is?

Speaker 14 (26:08):
The pluck to the workers touched down Clifden Love, Oh my god.

Speaker 4 (26:20):
The blocking was there the explosion Khalif Raymond, he wasted
no time using that speed getting north and.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
South and gets the touchdown for the Lions. That was fearless.
Oh my god, that was the whole dundle.

Speaker 5 (26:38):
And he could have run across the water to Windsor
Canada the way his feet were moving. On Sunday, that
was an incredible moment. We were all on our feet
watching Detroit extend their lead over the.

Speaker 6 (26:48):
Browns early in the fourth quarter. The Lions will win
thirty four to ten.

Speaker 5 (26:52):
But we want to hear more about that moment and
the return specialists responsible for it. Lions are three and
one guys, and that's why we have Khalif Raymond on
the showd You had you watch that highlight a couple
of times?

Speaker 2 (27:07):
What was it like watching it?

Speaker 12 (27:09):
The highlight it up?

Speaker 16 (27:10):
I saw it just because we watched film but not
Coach talking out was actually pretty cool.

Speaker 5 (27:16):
Cool, that's incredible, So Cliff, great to see you, Great
to have you on the show. We got to ask though,
after this play you found your wife Julia in the
crowd when someone accomplishes.

Speaker 6 (27:27):
Like did you already have her keyed in?

Speaker 5 (27:29):
Like there's so much going on, catch the ball, avoid tackles.

Speaker 6 (27:32):
Oh, let me find my wife also in the seat
that she's in. How does a special moment like that
unfold for you?

Speaker 9 (27:37):
Oh?

Speaker 16 (27:37):
Man, So we've had a couple touchdowns in the stadium.
My wife always wanted to be a part of it,
and you know, it's really really cool. She has a
bun and other so this is possibly her last game
and that's what the family section is. So as soon
as I score, it took a little quick shot and
started down there.

Speaker 12 (27:53):
I was like, where's my wife? Where's my wife?

Speaker 16 (27:55):
And apparently the people we were sitting with she was like, yeah,
you disappeared. She had a baby, But somehow she just
got down there before we even saw her leaves.

Speaker 12 (28:03):
It was really cool.

Speaker 4 (28:06):
Well, I'm really happy for you guys, the whole family, everybody.
That's a really cool time and what a great time.
Right now, you get family football. You guys are winning.
Let's get into Khalip the actual play, because we have
this beautiful shot from the stadium roof basically.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
Sixty five yards to the house. Just take us through it.

Speaker 4 (28:24):
Just give us your behind the music about everything that
happened here.

Speaker 12 (28:26):
Go ahead, roll the video. Oh man, that's pretty cool.

Speaker 16 (28:30):
Actually thought the ball is going out of bounds, but
I think Jack actually hit a similar ball in camp
and I let it go and it bounced. It was
like a fifty two yard punt. I was like, you
know what, have a feeling this is going to curve
back in. But we've been chopping at the tree all
I mean for the past four weeks, like it's barely
getting inches. And I was like, man, the more aggressive
I am with the way these guys are blocking, one
of these is gonna pop and take a cut to

(28:52):
the right. I look downfield and everybody's blocks. Saylest takes
out two people, Rocks got the last guy. I was like, man,
look at this point, all I can do is run
fast and hope these hamstrings hold up.

Speaker 12 (29:01):
And they barely did. The last of y'all.

Speaker 7 (29:05):
Well, toping at the tree cleaves sounds like something you
your coach would say, chopping out the tree, biting that
Nie caps and some of the biggest questions come into
this season. I was surrounded after you guys lost both
your coordinators.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
Now I'm a big fan of coach Dan.

Speaker 7 (29:19):
Campbell for those people that have something to say or
what do you have to say about those who may
have some concerns still about the team after losing both coordinators.

Speaker 16 (29:29):
I mean I would say, man, we just we built
a tough culture here, and I think that is more
important to anybody. The guys in this room, the type of
players and the type of people in this room are
the spot definds us and I think no matter what
that versus, no matter what the challenge is, we got
that type of character that's going to approach each the
way that we do. The rest will eventually take care
of itself. And I think at one point, you know,

(29:51):
you just we just we're still good in continuity, but
as we continue to grow, I think it'd be a
very successful season four US.

Speaker 17 (29:59):
Dan Campbell said recently that our best players are our
hardest workers, the guys that practice the hardest. I'm curious
if you had to pick one who's the hardest working,
hardest practicing player on your entire roster.

Speaker 16 (30:13):
I'm in the Ros Saint Brown and it's not even close,
he says the standard.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
Wow.

Speaker 12 (30:18):
No, And I mean, you know I prought myself on.

Speaker 16 (30:22):
You're putting everything, turn off every stone, make sure I
can put my best foot forward. And this man catches
two hundred and two passes after every game, I mean,
after every practice, no matter what. In the last five
years I've been here, I haven't seen him miss once.
He does a two hundred ads after every workout, hasn't
missed once. He has a tennis ball thing he does
on Mondays, five hundred over the shoulder. Everything he's doing
hasn't missed once. I mean he is uh, he is bionic.

(30:45):
I mean, but everything that you're seeing on the way
that he does on filming, between the catches, the routes,
all that stuff, it is not by chance, because he leaves.

Speaker 12 (30:52):
Nothing to chance.

Speaker 16 (30:53):
I mean, he's the hardest worker I've ever seen to
this point. And I'm nervous to train with the off
season because I'm not sure.

Speaker 12 (31:01):
He's real dude.

Speaker 7 (31:02):
No, He's definitely the real dare. And we're all big
fans of him, and obviously his work is just a
result of his.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
Work off the field.

Speaker 7 (31:08):
Tell me a little bit about Jamira Gibbs and David Montgomery.
They seem to have a really good relationship with each
other and it's very hard for a running back door
to split time, but it seems to be working for
both of them. Tell me a little bit about that relationship.

Speaker 16 (31:20):
Yeah, those high character guys to start off, and I
think that's it's a song for everything else, man, But
they feed off each other. Man, they add two different
dynamics to the game. And uh like even though play there, Man,
I'd ask a lot of people to watch David Montgomery's
film from the Backward Angle because you don't actually understand
how many people he's making missed with his feet before

(31:41):
the play get started behind a line of scrimmage.

Speaker 12 (31:42):
Man.

Speaker 16 (31:43):
You that add that with Job's explosiveness and the character
that these guys bring, because that same characters what makes
them go past block the way that they do, and
they're putting people on their back. So, man, it's a
it's a high character group and they feed off each other.
And we get two guys like that that can feed
off each other. They're only gonna iron sharpers iron for
each other.

Speaker 5 (32:01):
So, Cliff, it's really cool to hear you talk about
your inmates with such adoration. But you yourself are a
professional and a perfectionist when it comes to your craft.
Last year you hung with the same Brown Brothers on
their podcast, and there is one thing that you talked
about when it comes to being a prolific punt returner.

Speaker 6 (32:19):
Let's take a listen to the answer, and then we
want to get into this.

Speaker 16 (32:22):
Oh goodness, I've been talked about so many kickers, Bro,
so I my best to avoid him, and it just
don't work out.

Speaker 12 (32:30):
So when I saw I think it was I think
it was lean Leen was on the kicker.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
I was like, I'm good, somebody's on it.

Speaker 12 (32:36):
That's the only way you don't make the kicker miss Like, Bro, No,
hold on, first.

Speaker 16 (32:39):
Off, I tell you about this every single time. So
you're playing basketball, right, yeah, uh huh. You see a
dude coming through the whole and of your height, what
you're gonna do. You gonna move out the way and
let him do his thing? All right, but you said
you got my height coming.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
What you gonna do?

Speaker 12 (32:53):
You're gonna try to send his junks to the opposite
side of the court. Happens every time.

Speaker 16 (32:56):
So when I'm running overturns kickers like I'm about the
latest joke.

Speaker 12 (33:00):
Out and every single time they give a.

Speaker 5 (33:02):
Best effort, it's a perfect parallel cliff Because anytime you
get blocked in basketball at they're in by someone who's
like six foot and over, You're like, that's not some
big insult.

Speaker 6 (33:11):
You're clearly taller than me.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
But if you are the.

Speaker 5 (33:14):
Same size, I understand that perfectly tracks.

Speaker 6 (33:17):
So how does one navigate avoiding.

Speaker 5 (33:20):
The kicker because you got to keep your eye on
so many people on kickoff returns?

Speaker 6 (33:24):
What's going on with this tactic?

Speaker 12 (33:26):
You know what's crazy?

Speaker 16 (33:27):
I'm hoping that you tell me, no, no, it's just
a lot of times I'm trying to cut back, and
lately I've seen a lot of returns. Hey man, cut
back to may not always be the best thing to do,
but I'll tell you what. Jake Bates the two weeks
ago had a huge tackle with you. I think I
think they're not giving enough credit.

Speaker 12 (33:48):
And man, they like bell coo for me.

Speaker 16 (33:53):
And then a few times I do something that good
has happened. And last week just happened to be a blessing. Oh, man,
I was nervous about that other end.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
So khalif you have an incredible personality, Man, I'm glad
that how many more people are learning about you and
your story. The story, though, is fascinating. Undrafted out of
Holy Cross and the Patriot League, and you've been through
the Broncos, the Jets, the Giants, the Titans, the Giants,
the Titans, the Lions, and you have found a home
here that works. It's great right now and you've been

(34:21):
all Pro twice. Was there a time in that journey
when you ever thought, maybe this just isn't going to happen,
maybe I should hang up the cleats and if so,
what changed?

Speaker 12 (34:30):
Oh?

Speaker 16 (34:31):
Yeah, hopefully out of town.

Speaker 12 (34:34):
But it was twenty seventeen.

Speaker 16 (34:35):
Actually, I remember walking off the field playing for the
Giants and I looked up at the stateum in medlife.
I was like, I think I just played my last
NFL game, and by the grace of guy, the Giants
signed me to a futures contract. And I remember going
into the Ltas with so much fear and I was like, look,
I can do one of two things.

Speaker 12 (34:51):
I can either kind of.

Speaker 16 (34:52):
Just quit a little bit stick my head into hand,
kind of just shot away from it, or I can
give everything I possibly can and see exactly who I am.
And that's what I did, man. So it was six
workouts a day. I've catched enough punts to where I
had wounds on my chest, all kinds of things. But
I was catching thousands of punts and eventually I was like,
my work's gonna outshiney fear and anxiety that I have.

(35:16):
And that's what it took. Man, it was a long join.
It's so side NFL. A lot of people don't see.
They don't see to getting cut five or six times.
They don't see the late nights, staying that next thing
to stay America just so I can. I can't buy
lease because I don't know if I'm gonna be there
the next week. So it's just like it's just a
different lifestyle. And eventually playing here and Detroit has been
a blessing because Damn is the type of guy like, hey,
I don't care who you are or where you come from.

(35:38):
I don't care about your character and your work ethic.
And if you're you can put those two in front
of yourself and you can play ball. I'm going to
give you a shot, and that's what it's been playing here.
And it's a blessing because it's like that in this
organization top down.

Speaker 12 (35:51):
So I really appreciate it.

Speaker 7 (35:52):
Well if that's special, man, that that really is because
I had the same thoughts after I told my kid
it's my fourth year old, like.

Speaker 12 (35:58):
That's it for me.

Speaker 7 (35:59):
But where does that resilience come from? I know where
it comes from from me, but where does that come
from for you? Because that's a special characteristic that not.

Speaker 12 (36:06):
A lot of people have.

Speaker 16 (36:08):
It was a lot of people that got me here
to this point had a lot of help with them.
But my mom, mister Lawrence, my mentor my parents' brands
family had a lot of help here on the way.
And if they're willing to put that much time and
effort into me, it is not fair to them to
quit them myself. So with that being said, I'm going
to give everything that I have that I know I

(36:30):
can give as a thank you, and that's the payback
for all the time that's putting to me.

Speaker 12 (36:34):
So that's where a lot of that comes from. Man,
it's been a blessing to have as much help.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
As sorry, that is fantastically. Really is this week? You've
got the Bengals. I don't know if you know this.

Speaker 17 (36:44):
The Bengals are trying to assign to each section. You
wear black in this section, you wear orange.

Speaker 12 (36:48):
In this section.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
They want the stadium to look like stripes.

Speaker 17 (36:52):
But your fans are in the mentions and they're like, no, no,
no, no no, it's going to be Honolulu blue.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
How confident are you.

Speaker 17 (36:58):
That your fan base is going to be there to
mess up the.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
Whole stripe thing.

Speaker 16 (37:01):
They've shown up every week, everyway, and it's been some
away ns he played the last.

Speaker 12 (37:05):
Couple of years. I'm like, are you all sure this
is a wave? Because when we come out a ton
of what sounds like a home game, super confident, they
show up everywhere. You have a great fan.

Speaker 6 (37:13):
Base, Khalif you're awesome.

Speaker 5 (37:15):
I think we should do Best Guests of the Week
on CMFB and I already gave it to you, and
it's Thursday.

Speaker 6 (37:20):
Sorry to anybody who's booked for tomorrow. Pleee Frahman, you're fantastic.
That's look at him. Go move the feat one two
one two, and don't worry. I had faide in those hammis.
I don't know what he's.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
Talking about right there, make it

Speaker 5 (37:38):
Good luck with your impending birth of your child, Pelee Framman,
We wish you guys,

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
