Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good Morning Football.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
In Week eight, in any games that were played between
an AFC and an NFC opponent, the AFC won every
single game, except for Sunday Night Football.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
The AFC was all over it.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
The NFC is like a house of wors on holiday game.
We can't figure any of these teams out. There's so
much jockeying for position. As we said, the commanders not
even on our screen. And that is our lurking column.
On the far right, really fascinating wildcard selections.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
And on the left side your seat.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Who would host a playoff game if the playoffs were
to start today? So take a gander at the NFC
standings as we see them, and Manti, just pick your
piece of candy out of the bubbling cauldron called the
NFC and talk about one of your teams.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
Well, if I had to pick out a candy, it's
gonna be blue and it's gonna be green, kind of
like this room right here. Because the Seattle Seahawks are
playing very, very good football and it's very surprising, at
least to me, based on last year. They fired their
offensive coordinator guys. Ryan Grubb was their coordinator last last year,
they fire him and they bring in Clint Kubiak.

Speaker 6 (01:26):
Who was with New Orleans. New Orleans for the first
three seasons.

Speaker 5 (01:30):
First three weeks of the season last year was known
as one of the best offensive units in football.

Speaker 6 (01:36):
All Kubiak did was take that and put it in.

Speaker 5 (01:39):
Seattle because what they have over there with Sam Darnold,
Jackson Smith and Jigmall and all of that cast over
there on the offensive side of the ball, they are
an explosive offense. This is an offense that's just not
scoring porn points, but they're scoring points and gaining yards.
They are an average of six yards per play that

(02:00):
is third.

Speaker 6 (02:00):
In the NFL.

Speaker 5 (02:02):
Now, I don't think anybody anticipated that after firing their
head coach and having a new quarterback in Sam Donald
now behind center.

Speaker 6 (02:09):
It's not that.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
Sam Donald couldn't do the job. It's just it's a
new guy on campus. You don't know what to expect.

Speaker 6 (02:14):
It's a new coordinator, new team.

Speaker 7 (02:17):
I don't think anybody expected that expected this. What I
did expect was that defense to play that the way
that they've played, to be dominant, to get to the
to the quarterback offense to take the ball away. So
all all of those teams in the NFC, guys, I'm
looking at the Seattle Seahawks and.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
I'm seeing a team that is on a terror. They're
very explosive, their limiting runs yardage on the defensive side
of the ball, and if they continue to keep that up, man,
I know you're happy to see as being a Seattle Nator, Yeah.

Speaker 8 (02:45):
You know, I'm a Seattle fan all day long. They'll
usually hear me talk about the Cowboys, but Seatail's my hometown.
But since we were aready talking about Seattle, then I
have to talk about Dallas, right, I mean, let's talk
about detailed boogie Dallas out there at the NFC East.

Speaker 6 (02:57):
They are the team that I have my eye.

Speaker 8 (03:00):
And the reason why is because these guys are still
in a good position. It doesn't sound good three four
and one. Nobody likes that third category. I mean some
people on the show do, but Pops is out the
show today. So three four and one where the Dallas
Cowboys stand. We know one thing that they do really
well playoffense. These guys are the second overall scoring team
in the NFL. Dak Prescott right, they got we have

(03:23):
Javonte Williams in the backfield. You got Ceedee Lamb, George Piggins.
All these guys are doing amazing. Oh and Jake Ferguson.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Offensively, you're great. Ah.

Speaker 8 (03:32):
But there's another side of the ball, and that's defense.
And then defensively, Dallas is second worst defense.

Speaker 9 (03:38):
In the league. Yeah that is that's.

Speaker 6 (03:40):
Why you said eye instead of eyes.

Speaker 9 (03:42):
Oh yeah, that's right.

Speaker 10 (03:42):
Right.

Speaker 8 (03:43):
That doesn't necessarily go well, So if you're scoring a
lot of points but you're giving up a lot of points,
that doesn't necessarily turn into a lot of victories.

Speaker 9 (03:51):
Right. But I have hope.

Speaker 8 (03:52):
And the reason why I have hope is because the
Dallas Cowboys are two or one currently in the NFC East, right,
with three games left. Hey, they still have to face
the Giants, and they still have to face the Eagles.
They still have to face the Mas one more time.
But as of right now, they're two and one. If
you look at their remaining schedule. I know we don't
like to do this, some people don't, but again, Pops
isn't here, so.

Speaker 9 (04:13):
We look at the remaining schedule.

Speaker 6 (04:14):
These guys have.

Speaker 8 (04:15):
The Eagles, the Lions, the Chiefs, and the Chargers. Those
are going to be what I consider to be their
more challenging games. Then they have the Giants, they have
the Raiders, the Cardinals, the Commanders, and the Vikings. If
it goes the way that I see it, they'll finish
eight eight and one, and the NFC East usually sends
at least two teams to the playoffs. The way I

(04:36):
see it, Cowboys slide in the playoffs.

Speaker 11 (04:39):
Slide in, huh, slide in smooth, but they ain't riding in.

Speaker 9 (04:42):
They slide.

Speaker 11 (04:47):
For me, I'm gonna have to look over at the
NFC South. I think this division is wide open. When
you look at the Bucks, you look at the Falcons,
you look at the Saints, and you look at the Panthers.

Speaker 9 (04:58):
Nobody has taken the reins at all.

Speaker 11 (04:59):
This is wide open, and I think, who's going to
come out on top at the end of this when
it's all said and done, other Panthers. Give me the Panthers,
because I look, I look at what Bryce Young did
his last year, just last year season twenty twenty four.

Speaker 9 (05:14):
At the very end, he caught fire. He was fining
receivers everywhere.

Speaker 11 (05:18):
He was thrown for two hundred and fifty two hundred
and fifty two hundred and ten. He was throwing three
touchdowns a game. And when you look at their roster,
they got a double head monster over at the running
back position, and they both of them can run the ball.
You look at Sea Hubb and you look at Ricode if.

Speaker 9 (05:33):
Rego dab is dabbing everywhere.

Speaker 11 (05:35):
When you got the opportunity, you look at look at
you got first rounder mc millan, and then you got
my guy coming back. Don't forget about Cocher.

Speaker 9 (05:44):
Cocher, Jalen Cocher is back in the mix.

Speaker 11 (05:46):
And if you look at what he did at the
tail end of his last year, he was balling. They
got two good tight ends. There are three and one
in October. Keep that in mind. They're going to find
some fire, some win. They play well at home, the
physical and want to run the ball. So give me,
give me the pants.

Speaker 5 (06:00):
So so so, hold on, hold on, shot, you're saying
that the Panthers are or when you say that they're they're
going to win the NFC South, is that what you're saying.
I just want to clarify, clarify. You're saying that they're
clarified winning the NFC South.

Speaker 11 (06:12):
I see them taking place in the NFC South. I
don't see what it's really fun Saints from can't say
the Saints.

Speaker 9 (06:17):
Sampful only if they're healthy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, right, and
we don't know.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
You know what's really fun about what you just said
is they don't play each other until week sixteen and eighteen,
so there's a lot of time for them to get right.
And frankly, look at you, you're like, yeah, that's exactly sorry,
my bad. Panthers Bucks played each other week sixteen and week.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
Eighteen back to back.

Speaker 8 (06:38):
Understand how you think that they're going to outperform the Bucks?

Speaker 11 (06:41):
Oh yeah, listen, we've seen can actually the last couple
couple of games.

Speaker 9 (06:45):
What happened What happened to the bus the last couple
of games? Right now. I know they're dealing with some injuries.
That's part of the game.

Speaker 11 (06:51):
But guess what happens over there with Carolina They've been
dealing with injuries too. It's part of the game. But listen,
when the rolls come in and the time come in,
it's gonna come down who can run the ball better,
and that at the end of the day, I think
the Panthers got that.

Speaker 9 (07:03):
It's a wide open.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
Divisions strong take for shot.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
They stumbled against the Bills last week, but Indy Dalton
was in a quarterback, so that's helpful to know. Let's
see it again, NFC standings, if you would please, because
I challenge everybody to look to the right on the
lurking column and a pair of eyes. That went to
Baltimore last week and could have made it five straight,
but the Bears did not. So can we make one
pass at a team that I don't know? Could the

(07:28):
Bears be this year's Commanders the way the Commanders came
running last year and they were the unforeseen NFC darling,
do you put the Bears cap on that? Or are
you believe in what Rashad is saying that it's going
to be a Panthers To you, Isaiah, I think I do.

Speaker 8 (07:43):
Have currently had more hope in the Panthers just because
the inconsistencies of where the Bears are supposed to be strong.
The Bears are supposed to be super strong offensively, got it,
But Ben Johnson, his style just hasn't clicked over yet, right,
It just hasn't hasn't gotten there yet. Caleb Williams has
not taken on the persona and Ben Johnson.

Speaker 9 (08:02):
If that were to happen, and.

Speaker 8 (08:03):
He were to start forming even a remotely like a
Jered Golf of the year's past, then these guys would
be dangerous because they have so many offensive weapons roma dunes.
They starting to do his thing right now, obviously consistently,
but right now I have to lean on the Panthers
because it bears you just don't know what you're getting
from week to week.

Speaker 5 (08:20):
Well, that's such a good question, because when I look
at both teams, right you ask yourself this question week.

Speaker 6 (08:26):
In and week out, like what am I getting?

Speaker 10 (08:28):
Like?

Speaker 5 (08:28):
There's no carryover, Like they play like one thing one
week and then the next.

Speaker 6 (08:33):
Week you're like, what the heck just happened?

Speaker 5 (08:34):
Like going into this week when they played the Ravens,
knowing that Lamar might have might have might have played,
or he might have, but when he lined up, you
saw that he was and you would anticipate at how
they've been playing the past few weeks that they would
have came out of Baltimore with a win. The way
that the Baltimore defense was able to hold Caleb Williams
and that offense, it is a little concerning based on

(08:56):
what they've done the previous week. So to Isaiah's point,
it's a little it's so up and down that it's
when I look at somebody like the Panthers and then
look at what they've been able to do. Now, I
think the two headed monster actually messes them up a
little bit because Ricodoudo was on a terror run while
while Choppa Hubbard was out. Now having Hubbard back, I

(09:17):
know that they invested a lot into him.

Speaker 6 (09:19):
However, they're trying to.

Speaker 5 (09:20):
Figure out how does this puzzle, which is the running
back room work because Ricodoudo was amazing, So when they
start to figure that out, I think that's just going
to help their pass game and the defensively that front
defensively for the.

Speaker 6 (09:33):
Panthers is strong, like it is strong, and they.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
Recavoc in the run game and they also get pressure
in the pass game. So i'd have to give the
to the pants come on over.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Ford's body language.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Ever since you've delivered that take, you're so proud of yourself.
You're like that guy on a date with the new
girl that he's dating and his inner parents are there,
and you like you went to the stand and did
the credit card thing already.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
You sat back down and you were like, you guys
don't even know.

Speaker 5 (10:01):
I'm so happy for your feels good like that one,
because Jamie has a few reactions once.

Speaker 6 (10:06):
You'll either not say anything, or two you'll get it,
or she'll say R three.

Speaker 5 (10:11):
Right what she did after you said it, she went,
she really liked Joe. Take when I heard the keyboard
going right, you said.

Speaker 9 (10:20):
Down, Jamie like, no, you're.

Speaker 4 (10:22):
Not gonna catch me off guard. I gotta do a
cram session on the Panthers right now.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Find me some time or we'll bring you back on
January sixth or whatever if we If the Panthers are
right in the NFC stuff.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Mom.

Speaker 6 (10:55):
B I be him on the Cleaness inside last.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Series Juel on June right, that's the Texas.

Speaker 6 (11:03):
Yes, that's funny as that clip is.

Speaker 5 (11:07):
The truth is, Miles Garrett has done that to countless
offenses in this past nine years.

Speaker 6 (11:11):
Since twenty seventeen, his dominance on.

Speaker 5 (11:14):
The field has resulted in six Pro Bowl appearances, six
All Pro selections, and being named the twenty twenty three Defensive.

Speaker 6 (11:21):
Player of the Year.

Speaker 5 (11:22):
This year, he has tied for the most sacks in
the NFL with ten, all while leading the NFL and.

Speaker 6 (11:27):
Tackles for a loss with fifteen, and just this.

Speaker 5 (11:30):
Past week, he achieved something that has only happened nine
times in.

Speaker 6 (11:34):
The past twenty years when he recorded five.

Speaker 5 (11:36):
Sacks and last week's game against the Patriots. Not only
was that performance of franchise record for sax in a
single game, but Miles Garrett also set another record along
the way with his five sack performances past week, and
Miles Garrett passed Hall of Famer Reggie White for the
most career sacks under.

Speaker 6 (11:54):
The age of thirty.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
The crazy part is Miles doesn't turn thirty for another
two months, so there's no telling where that number will
be by the set by December twenty ninth. But despite
his record breaking performance, the Cleveland Browns would suffer their
sixth loss of the season, losing to the Patriots thirty
to thirteen. In the same game that Miles Garrett would

(12:17):
set a franchise record, he would also be taken out
late in the fourth quarter after the game seemed out
of reach. Frustrated by what happened, Miles had this to
say after his record breaking performance, I want to win.

Speaker 9 (12:31):
I don't care how much time is on the clock.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
They got their starters in.

Speaker 9 (12:35):
There's a chance we can win. I want to be
a part of part of that.

Speaker 6 (12:38):
I would throw the whole performance away for a win.

Speaker 5 (12:41):
Miles Garrett's postgame comments sparked a lot of conversation amongst.

Speaker 6 (12:45):
The football world for obvious reasons.

Speaker 5 (12:47):
Back in February of this year, Miles Garrett publicly requested
a trade in which he said, as a kid of
the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal
of winning a Super Bowl, and that goal fuels me
today more than ever. He would go on to say,
while I've loved calling this city my home, my desire
to win and compete on the biggest stages won't allow

(13:08):
me to be complacent. The goal was never the goal
from Cleveland to Canton, it was always been to compete
and win a Super Bowl. Well a month later, Miles
Miles was signed a four year, one hundred and sixty
million dollar deal which would pay him forty million dollars
a year, becoming the first non QB in NFL history

(13:30):
to make that much annually. So it's understandable when you
hear NFL fans say, well, you knew what you signed
up for, or he took the money instead of the rink. Still,
there is a sense of loyalty that may be missed
in this narrative. I know Miles was handsomely compensated for
his services, but he still chose to stay when he

(13:50):
could have left. He still chose to play for a
city the others have left behind, whether it be in
nineteen ninety six when the Browns moved the team from
Cleveland to Baltimore, in twenty ten when Lebron James announced
that he was leaving the Calves to join Dwayne Wade
and Chris Bosh and Miami in hopes of getting a ring.
Even in businesses like Firestone Tires and Joyan Fabrics which

(14:12):
were headquartered or headquartered in the area left, but one
man stayed, and his name is Miles Garrett. My only
question is what major impact does this decision have on
his legacy.

Speaker 6 (14:25):
Let's go ask my friends, Isaac. Given all of the variables, obviously, you.

Speaker 5 (14:31):
Know how he played last week, you know how he
played throughout his entire career.

Speaker 12 (14:33):
But he had played with him, and you played with him.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
You have a type of insight that some don't have.
What do you see in Miles and his decision to stay.
How does that impact his legacy? How do you see it?

Speaker 12 (14:47):
Let's start off with who is Miles as a person? Right,
because I think that's something that's all of a sudden
in question, right, Like he chooses money over relationships and
doing what's right or you know, following his word.

Speaker 6 (14:59):
He's a great guy.

Speaker 12 (15:00):
And I say that, and I know that's kind of
a blanket term, but this is a guy who comes.

Speaker 9 (15:04):
He's a good teammate.

Speaker 12 (15:05):
We had a lot of fun with him just in
his presence in the d line room, you know, hosting dinners, whatever,
whatever it may be. He was one of those guys
which I appreciated. Here's my thing, this whole debate of
he took the money, so he gave up winning? It
is the National Football League. At what point was winning
not always the goal? Like now it's he stayed for

(15:28):
he stayed in an NFL franchise and chose money, like
as if the Browns are just stuck with a forever
losing situation. He deserves the money, he should take the money.
That's the NFL, that's the name of the game. That's
why salary caps are increasing, That's why We just talked
about Herbert why he's getting paid so much? God forbid
a good player take a lot of money. That's not

(15:49):
even the question. Here's what we need to be talking about.
This franchise, which I played for, has had a few
really generational players that we've seen in similar situation, Miles
Garrett being one of them. Should I bring up Joe Thomas,
one of the best tackles of all time, and what
do we say he was the best that didn't get
a championship. We have to start holding some of these

(16:11):
situations accountable. He went into a camp, training camp situation.
Do you know how many quarterbacks were on this roster
during training camp?

Speaker 9 (16:19):
For six? Racious six quarterbacks.

Speaker 12 (16:24):
So yeah, when they're like, hey, Miles, we're going to
resign you, we are going to choose to offer you
this money because we want you back and we have
a game plan to win, because we're in the National
Football League and that's our job is to win.

Speaker 6 (16:35):
He should go back. This isn't a question. So it's just.

Speaker 12 (16:38):
Frustrating because it's like he chose money. Yeah, that's what
he should do. One and the Browns should choose to
be creating a winning culture and a winning roster.

Speaker 6 (16:47):
It's frustrating.

Speaker 12 (16:48):
I feel very passionately about that, Miche.

Speaker 5 (16:51):
My follow up question to that, Isaac and I love
to get your insight on it, is somebody like Miles
Garrett would get paid regardless of wherever he went. Totally,
he would have got paid regardless of wherever he went,
but he chose to say so. That's why I brought
up the narrative. There's a sense of loyalty there. How
do you see it? Knowing Miles Garrett personally, and do
you think that he made him moving on could have

(17:11):
given him the better the better chance to get a ring.

Speaker 12 (17:15):
I mean, let's talk about it like we would any
human being.

Speaker 9 (17:17):
Right.

Speaker 12 (17:17):
I think he wanted a prop I don't know this
for a fact, right, but I think he would want
to stay in a situation that's relatively comfortable. This fan base,
by the way, is one of the best fan bases
in the country. I think this is his home. I
think he recognizes that. And I think you bring up
a good point. He could have went anywhere who wouldn't
pay the best defensive end of all time. So you
have to look at it for what it is. He

(17:39):
chose to come back this isn't him taking money, and
like he's like, you know what, I guess I'll just
stay because I want to get paid an extra you know,
million dollars. This guy wanted to be here, and I
think that's a testament to who he is. I think
when you say, like, how does he fit in this
big picture of being a locker room guy, whatever, there's
your answer.

Speaker 9 (17:57):
He chose to come back and be a part of
this organization, So go ahead of rich. I mean, I
love what you're saying, and I agree.

Speaker 11 (18:03):
When we talk about the word loyalty, I personally have
a kind of a hot take towards even just that word.
I don't think people can be loyal to people. I
don't think people can be loyal to things. What happens
is people benefit from their loyalty to who they are.
And so in an example, right if I ask my wife,
you know, would.

Speaker 9 (18:22):
You ever cheat to me?

Speaker 11 (18:23):
And she says no, it's I'm going to be loyal
to you, It's like, it's not you're not gonna cheat
on me. You never cheated on your exes either, and
you're not loyal to me. I benefit from your loyalty
to who you are, and so here's a situation where
the Browns are just benefiting from who this guy really
is in his heart and so I but I like it. Chase,
chase the money, do what you want. It's the National
Football League. It doesn't last for long, but it comes

(18:45):
to a point where he has the money check, he
has the fame. He seems like a guy that doesn't
really care about that, but he has that check, he
has the records check. What now don't you have is
a ring.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
The only issue that I've taken with this entire thing
is that letter that he put out. It was so
well written, it was so intentional and purposeful with what
he was saying.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
It was like there was no mincing words.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
It was I was never hoping to go from Cleveland
to Canton, which, by the way, he essentially had a
one way ticket after his first two years in the NFL.
So for him to say that and then it honestly
made me chuckle, mantai when you said it, And then
four weeks later he.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Signed this ridiculous deal.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
That's the only thing that's made me uncomfortable. I can
believe you that he's a great guy. I can I
can understand that like he hosted the team dinners and
he wants to stay in the city and the city
was loyal to him.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
But so then why be so outfront.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
With like cause we only see stuff like that.

Speaker 4 (19:39):
The letters, the statements come out.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
When guys are backed into a corner by a team
and the team won't trade him in a team. We
see it all the time, you know, awkward Cowboys' situations
where Jerry Jones doesn't want to pay a guy. We're
talking about it into August eighty sixth and like, all right,
we get it. Then they finally gets the contract. But
for him to put this out on like February first,
and it was the only thing that we led with
all league on GMFB, just to have it be washed

(20:01):
away with cash later.

Speaker 4 (20:02):
That's what makes it uncomfortable for me.

Speaker 6 (20:04):
This is simple.

Speaker 12 (20:05):
Have you ever been in a bad relationship and went
to your partner and said, hey, I'm really unhappy in
this situation and I'm going to leave you if things
don't change, And then what happens when things change?

Speaker 6 (20:15):
Can things change? I?

Speaker 2 (20:16):
Can they can?

Speaker 9 (20:18):
Right?

Speaker 6 (20:18):
Can people change?

Speaker 9 (20:19):
Yes? Can you have a change of heart?

Speaker 6 (20:21):
Yes? Does money help?

Speaker 9 (20:23):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (20:23):
But yes, I truly Oh.

Speaker 12 (20:29):
But I do think he had an optimism about this
relationship that I'm sure they expressed him.

Speaker 6 (20:34):
Hey, Miles, we have a plan. We're excited to have
you packed.

Speaker 12 (20:36):
Not only are we going to pay you because we
appreciate you, but you know, here's our thoughts on this.

Speaker 9 (20:42):
So that's my thing on it.

Speaker 12 (20:43):
I mean, I don't think he would have taken the
deal if they didn't have some type of game plane
that didn't include having six quarterbacks in your quarterback room
during training camp.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
Maybe that's what we should be talking about.

Speaker 6 (20:54):
Yeah, and I think to awesome this up.

Speaker 5 (20:56):
Whether he's in a Cleveland Browns jersey or another one,
the impact that he's made on the game of football
has been a major one and it will continue to
be one. I just hope for him that the by
the time he hangs up these cleats that he has
a major piece of jewelry on his finger to kind.

Speaker 6 (21:12):
Of wrap this whole Hall of Fame career that he's having.

Speaker 5 (21:15):
So man, shout out to Miles Garrett, shout to everybody.
Great job, guys, great conversation this is and that was major.

Speaker 9 (21:21):
Don't you go anywhere.

Speaker 6 (21:23):
It's good morning football. Let's roll.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
Good morning football.

Speaker 10 (21:41):
We're going to choose only fourteen teams in the twenty
twenty five NFL playoffs.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
Coaching and quarter I got the.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
Steerlessness, yeah, because quarterback changes are hard.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
Fly Eagles, fly nasty.

Speaker 6 (21:55):
I got the La Rams.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
They're not in either.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
Okay, in the West.

Speaker 10 (22:00):
I know there are Niners fans wondering what drug I'm
on right now.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
The drug of football had both of these teams.

Speaker 6 (22:06):
No, you don't.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
San Francisco, NFC North Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
These all right.

Speaker 10 (22:19):
That was a long time ago, in a galaxy far
far away. Before the twenty twenty five NFL season started.
We had our fun and we took our shots at
which teams we thought would be in the playoffs. We
even did the preseason awards like Coach of the Year
and Rookie the Year and off it'sive player there and
all that stuff. So let's just take a peek, because
we might be right, we might be wrong. A lot
of things are going to change between now the end

(22:41):
of the season. But we have four categories we're going
to go through to just take a look at. We're
preseason playoff pick that we're most proud of, preseason pick
that we're most annoyed by, that we made, the one
that we wish we could change, and then finally the
preseason pick that we just want to say, Yeah, I'm
doubling down.

Speaker 9 (22:56):
You may not like it, but I'm still all in.

Speaker 6 (22:59):
So I will start.

Speaker 10 (23:00):
Here are my playoff picks to start the season, which I, honestly.

Speaker 6 (23:04):
I feel very good about.

Speaker 10 (23:06):
I know, the Bears, someone jumps out as being strange,
but everything else, I mean, the wildcard teams, the division champs, like,
I'm pretty comfortable with that. Right now, let's go to
the AFC, should we do that? Because the Ravens have
been rough. I like my wild cards. I like pretty
much everything except the Ravens record is not good. But
maybe they'll win tonight and we'll make that look a
little bit better. So I'll go through this quickly. The

(23:27):
one I'm most proud of is easily I refer to
them now as they who must not be named, the
Seattle Seahawks. I had winning the NFC West, not as
a wild card, not behind the Rams, not behind San Francisco,
but the Sam Darnold, wildly unproven Seahawks.

Speaker 9 (23:44):
I love that constantly.

Speaker 10 (23:45):
I love the Jackon Smith and Jigbud Dunks of the
crossbar and gets flagged for it. But it's like everywhere
all over NFL media, including on our show. But you
know why, because it's awesome and we should have a
look at that rule, the Jimmy Graham rule.

Speaker 9 (23:55):
Either way, I'm.

Speaker 10 (23:56):
Most proud by that because I don't think many people
were picking them, and I took a shot and it's
looked good so far. The one that I'm most annoyed
by is actually not a playoff pick.

Speaker 9 (24:03):
The most annoyed by.

Speaker 10 (24:05):
Guys is my pick for offensive Rookie of the Year.
I was sitting here saying, cam Ward, it's not been
great down in Tennessee. If you were to tell me
that just a handful of weeks into the season, cam
Ward's coach would be fired. But I also didn't know
that a Mecca Buca would be incredible in Tampa.

Speaker 9 (24:21):
I did know that.

Speaker 10 (24:22):
Tyler Warren would be in Indianapolis, and guys, I don't
know who else could be a front runner for Rookie
of the Year right now on offense except for those
two guys. I mean, I'm I missing somebody I don't know.
But I know that cam Ward has a lot of
work to do, and so to the Titan, so that
one's annoying. The one I wish I could change, I'm
considering it none. My answer to this is none. I
don't believe in changing your picks. I believe in owning

(24:42):
your picks. You guys can change one if you want to.
But my honest question, there's none of them that I
would say, well, if only i'd done this, I still
think all of my picks are going to be right.
And we're only in what week nine or whatever. It
is my pick that I wish I could double down on.
It's six guys. It's always I refer to it as
the center square in the game of bingo.

Speaker 6 (25:00):
It's the Steelers.

Speaker 10 (25:01):
I know the defense is way down right now. I
know people streaming about Mike Tomlin this. I know the
uniforms were something. But I also know that we're gonna
be sitting there at the end of the season and
you take your pick. Is it nine and eight and
they squeak in or is it ten and seven and
they have a nice comfortable wild card.

Speaker 9 (25:17):
It is still going to happen. I won't deviate.

Speaker 10 (25:19):
If they lose this weekend again to the Colts, it
will happen, and I will double down on it.

Speaker 9 (25:25):
Mike, your thoughts on some of these.

Speaker 6 (25:26):
Picks and some of these statements.

Speaker 13 (25:27):
I'm gonna go right to the Steelers and I showed
you this email. We get these email from these people
who have oh.

Speaker 6 (25:31):
Here here where the projected win.

Speaker 13 (25:32):
Oh yeah, yeah, projected win before the season week four,
and here's where they are right now.

Speaker 9 (25:37):
And there's like great variation. Obviously the Colts were like
seven and a half.

Speaker 5 (25:40):
Now they're up to twelve and a half.

Speaker 13 (25:42):
For the Pittsburgh Steelers Week one, eight and a half,
Week four, eight and a half right now, but eight
and a half, No, everybody knows exactly where it is.

Speaker 6 (25:53):
Are the is this the year?

Speaker 13 (25:55):
Is this the year Mike Toma doesn't have a winning record?
And like at one point you go, oh, maybe they're
gonna win eleven. No, no, no, it's gonna be right around
that eight and a half. And we still don't though
right where we were week ones.

Speaker 10 (26:04):
Something never changed, Jamie. We saw a clip of this
at the beginning of the season. You were surrounded by
the helmets and you're tossing off the ones you didn't
think you're making you toss on this one, not tossing
this one. Which one of those tosses may be do
you feel good about?

Speaker 6 (26:17):
Great about?

Speaker 10 (26:18):
Just take the floor and answer our four categories, Jamie.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
One thing that I like about prediction rewind is something
stay consistent, and I just love how unabashedly Kyle will
never change one of his opinions, and I appreciate and
respect out about you. Pull up my whatever conference you
want to show me first, here's my NFC.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
I feel pretty good about down the slot. I know
that big.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Purple blonded haired man with thorns on his head looks uncomfortable.

Speaker 4 (26:41):
Now you know whether.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
JJ McCarthy was healthy, And yes, I do have the
Giants on the right side of the screen, and I
actually think they could have made a fun little run
if they had just not been decimated with injuries on
the offensive side of the ball. But I feel good
about most of my selections on the AFC side.

Speaker 4 (26:59):
That's where I'm going to start. I am most proud.

Speaker 3 (27:01):
Of putting that Patriots logo in the wild card.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
I was.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
I was a fan of Will Campbell when he walked
across the stage in Green Bay. And Kyle's laughing at
me because like, why is it just a singular draft
pick on the offensive line.

Speaker 2 (27:14):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
There was just a vibe in a mood and the
fact that guy with tears in his eyes that he
would protect his quarterback at all costs.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
And then Mike Brabel's in town. So I'm really proud
of that. I am most.

Speaker 3 (27:24):
Annoyed by and I mentioned it already there he is Rabel.
He's fully flipped the culture. They did not have a
good start, man Ti. You mentioned it at the start
of the season, but the way that he didn't kind
of he was unbothered by this turn things around. Fully,
Drake May's playing out of his mind, and I'm proud
of that. Standing by the quick turnaround that Brabel can accomplish.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
I'm gonna pair annoyed and the.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
One that I would want to change together. I'm annoyed
by what has gone down with the Minnesota Vikings. I
just think it's in injury aside. It's just been an
uncomfortable watch for them at times. The NFC North as
a whole is a landscape that I wish not to
be a part of anymore. I put the Packers in
a lot because of Michael Parsons, influenced by recency bias.

(28:05):
When I was making my playoff picks, I put Mike
Parsons in. He was my defensive player of the Year pick,
and I got yelled at a little bit.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
By Lions fans, but mostly they're respectful.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
I just thought they were going to go by the
way of the Eagles. You know, a ton of change
in the coaching spots. I think eight coach coaches left,
and I know that's a generic, you know approach, but
change can breed poor results.

Speaker 4 (28:24):
The Lions have looked amazing.

Speaker 3 (28:26):
So I'm annoyed with myself by being influenced by what
happened to the Eagles a couple of years ago.

Speaker 4 (28:30):
And I just I would change.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
Some of my jockeying for position within the NFC North.

Speaker 4 (28:35):
And lastly, I am going to double down back to.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
The AFC side of things and maintain that the Broncos
are going to win the AFC West.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
Broncos are playing great.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
Sean Payton is getting under everybody's skin in that division
and in the AFC, and I think something is happening
with bo Nix and the fact that in his second
year we just had a conversation about Drake May and
bo Nix.

Speaker 4 (28:56):
No one really.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
Could have thought that those were the two guys that
we were staring at in their second year. The defense
is so good. Patrick Tan hurt, but he'll come back.
And I'm to double down on the fact, Mike ge
that I still have the Broncos winning that division.

Speaker 13 (29:08):
Jamie on the whole, really good, really good.

Speaker 9 (29:12):
I am curious.

Speaker 13 (29:12):
I meant to ask you at the time, and I
think I saw you week one on the field.

Speaker 9 (29:16):
I think that was the point game. Yes, as the opener.

Speaker 6 (29:18):
I could have asked you.

Speaker 13 (29:19):
Then I want to ask you now what what was
the path to the playoffs for the Giants? Because everybody
said Russell Wilson is the starter. Look at this gauntlet
of a schedule. It's not even like well they could
pick up a bunch of ways, Like where in your
mind's eye? Where where was that question?

Speaker 3 (29:34):
I roll my eyes at strength of schedule, guy, I
really do. I just I think it's I think it's
really lame. I just think any you know, any given weekend,
and this season in particular, has proved that that you
cannot tell me that a certain team strength of schedule
in week one is a joke because some team that
they are going to play could have totally fallen on
their faces and then the metric changes.

Speaker 4 (29:54):
So I really don't go by that whatsoever. What I
do go by is.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
Unfortunately it's a word that I'm going to use vibes,
and I think that in the desperation that Mike Vrabel
or not break Ryan Dabele was going to have to
take on in this year, and his coaching Joe Shane,
they all had their entire futures laying in the hands
of this draft pick that they jumped up for to
get Jackson Dark. I never thought Russell Wilson was going
to finish the season. I thought, you know, Kyle and

(30:18):
I I remember a year ago, we're talking about Jacoby
Brissett or Drake May, and I thought you should wait
to start Drake May, which ended up happening fine. So
I always thought Jackson Dart was.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
Going to come in. I didn't know he was going
to be as much of a spark.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
I just thought it was going to be that feel
good Cinderella team.

Speaker 4 (30:32):
Even if they got blown out in the first round.
I thought they were going to eke in and we
were all going to love them.

Speaker 9 (30:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (30:37):
Now I understand the thought process and we're in a
real interesting scenario with the Giants where they could win
five to six games. Let's say, and we could say, hey,
Brian Dabele has secured his job, because what's happening with
the quarterback and everything moving in the right direction. It's
going to be a fascinating conversation with the Giants down
the stretch here with regard to what they're going to
do moving well.

Speaker 10 (30:58):
Speaking of fascinating, let's look at Manti Tao's picks. Manti
talkers through them, and then let's get to the four categories.
You are, my friend, Romantis.

Speaker 5 (31:07):
Than you put the picks up there, please, I want
to see what my picks were. First of all, it
was a great weekend over there. A week in Philly
with everybody is a great vibe, a lot of a
lot of energy there. I do like the Niners that
I brought him into that playoff.

Speaker 6 (31:21):
Category at the wild card spot.

Speaker 5 (31:24):
Let's put the AFC because I'll start off with my
AFC picture. I am most proud of my Broncos pick
as the AFC West champions. I am also most proud
that I.

Speaker 6 (31:34):
Have three a AFC West teams.

Speaker 5 (31:37):
In the playoffs because they're looking as far as the Chargers,
the Broncos and the Chiefs, they are looking like all
three will be in the playoff picture. So I'm most
proud of the Broncos and the AFC West, three of
the AFC West teams being in there. I am most
annoyed by my Lions pick. And the reason why I'm
most annoyed by my Lions.

Speaker 9 (31:54):
Pick is this.

Speaker 5 (31:54):
For somebody who talks a lot about culture, somebody who
talks a lot about Dan Campbell, I let the departure
of both coordinators get to me. I let the departure
of Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson kind of.

Speaker 9 (32:05):
Rattle me a little bit.

Speaker 5 (32:06):
And and I didn't put them as the NFC North
champs were. My gut told me to put them, and
I should have stuck with my gut there.

Speaker 6 (32:13):
So that's the That's a pick that annoys me, which
leads me into the pick that I wish I could change.
I wish I could change my Bikings pick. My Bikings pick.

Speaker 5 (32:21):
I picked as an NFC North champs. It's not looking
good for them, and I didn't anticipate that. I have
full belief in Kevin O'Connell. And no matter how how
this season may go. Kevin O'Connell to me, is one
of the best coaches in the NFL. I just don't
think it that the season is it's going the way
he expected.

Speaker 6 (32:41):
It to go. But that the pick that I will.

Speaker 5 (32:44):
Double down on the Ravens when winning the AFC North.

Speaker 6 (32:49):
They are really they are. Even though they have won,
they have lost a few games. They still want to
know in the division.

Speaker 5 (32:55):
They have five of their division opponents are left, and
with Lamar coming back, I am excited to see what
that dynamic looks like because if that defense can continue
to play the way they played last week.

Speaker 6 (33:08):
Now, last week, guys, they played.

Speaker 5 (33:10):
Caleb Williams and the Bears, and it was no joke
when you when you go against a team like that
that Ben Johnson had going and the momentum that they
have going.

Speaker 6 (33:18):
Over there in Chicago.

Speaker 5 (33:19):
So I was really impressed with their defensive performance. So
I'm doubling down that the Ravens will win the AFC North.

Speaker 6 (33:25):
Here's what you.

Speaker 13 (33:25):
Should be most proud of, man, Titeo, no homer picks.
You could have had the Chargers as a division champion.

Speaker 9 (33:31):
You said, no, good to hate.

Speaker 13 (33:32):
The wild card team and the Saints are nowhere to
be found. That Florida ly you were talking, it was
last week or the week before, about how we got
to talk about the Saints more, and you were playfully
pumping up the Saints. You said, no, I'm not even
gonna put them in the playoff picture. That was a
good call, man.

Speaker 10 (33:45):
Can't wait till the end of season look back. So
that's the one where the gloves really comes off.

Speaker 9 (33:50):
My friends, I don't know'll be here like that.
