Speaker 1 (00:04):
Ten Takes is a production of the NFL in partnership
with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
I hear a lot of chatter I see it online
and people I talk to football about. You know, there
aren't any really great teams this year, or the football
is bad the primetime Dizabeth. This is a great team, right,
this is maybe the great team. If you look over,
I'm talking to best team in the NFL. You look
over in the AFC, there's some teams with some really
good records. It's quarterbacks we don't know if we trust yet.
It's Drake May, it's Bonick There's some other ones in

(00:46):
the NFC. It's the same thing. The Bears have a
good record. This team not only has a great record.
Let's remind ourselves, guys. The two losses, the two Rams
losses this year. Think back to this season. They had
the blocked field goal against Philly. They were lining up
to kick the game winning field goal. They lose to
Philly in that way, and then they lost an overtime
to the Niners on a Thursday night. Thursday night games
are always weird. That's all that's keeping them for perfection.

(01:08):
In the meantime, we try to pick apart these teams
with good records.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
They haven't beaten anybody, no quality wins.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
They've beaten Houston, Indie, Baltimore, Jacksonville, San Franz, Seattle, and Tampa.
All those teams matter. All those teams at one point
have mattered. Will matters still do matter? All I see
when I look at this this game yesterday was atrocious.
And I respect Tampa, but this was an atrocious game
that was never, never, ever in doubt. You just watched
this game and the only question you ask is who's

(01:35):
going to beat this team in the NFC playoffs?

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Who's going to do it? Is it Philly? I mean,
they got all kinds of problems right now. Is it Detroit.
I don't know where we are with Detroit. Is it Chicago?

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Chicago seems to beat everybody, but I look at them
and I'm like, different weight class.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
This team looks like a heavyweight.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Everybody else looks like maybe in middleweight at the best.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
And it's just that is our question about the Rams.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Will you lose the game in the playoffs, because we
know you're going to be there. It's probably going to
go through so far. It's just that it's at a
time when we're really starting.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
To look at style points. Who really has it.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
There's this team and then not only everybody else in
the NFC, everybody else in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
I think the gap between one and two.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Whatever happens to this Patriots season, we're not going to
look back on the Bengals game when they went to
ten and two is a pretty forgettable game except for
the Will Campbell injury. This is a big deal because
not only have the Patriots had very good luck quote
unquote with injuries this year, they haven't been decimated like
some other teams have. And Mike Rabel is superstitious about
talking about it.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
We heard from me and.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Rappaport earlier in the show that not only did he
get carted off Will Campbell.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
He did the like the towel on his head.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
You know, the towel is when you're hiding your face
and hiding your most is not good. Ian also said
that he can be a candidate for ir So that's
four straight weeks and listen, it's not going to make
the tent fall down. This is a very important player,
not only for the team, for Drake may this is
his guy. This is the tackle that you need that
keeps that quarterback healthy, So if there's any good news,

(03:01):
you have a long week, and then you play the Giants,
and then the craziest thing about the Patriot they'ven't had
their buy yet, which is nuts. They've been playing every
single week. So if you look at that Will Campbell,
you get to buy. Week fourteen a complete vacation week.
You have the Bills and the Ravens. After that, two
teams that obviously really really matter, and then Jets and Dolphins.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Will you hope all right?

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Better now than like in Week seventeen, this happens, he
has time to heal, the team is going to the playoffs.
They want to be having a buy for the playoffs.
So imagine they get two bys in the week fourteen
and week nineteen. The Campbell thing looms large. We're gonna
be talking about this a lot. But if it's going
to happen, better now than right before the playoffs, because
based on what we're hearing, unless it's just a totally
left turn update and he has a really serious injury,

(03:43):
you would think six weeks from now, seven weeks when
the playoffs start, they'll have him back.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
And that's what matters. Are we ready to let the
Chiefs go is this end of times? Is it over?

Speaker 2 (03:54):
It's let's just put the cards on the table here.
This is a five hundred team. Over the last four games,
they've played four good teams and they've lost the three
of them.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
They beat the Colts in overtime, but other than.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
That, they've lost all these games over the stretch. And guys,
here's the stakes with the Chiefs right now. It's not
just that they're six and six. It's a bad six
and six. And I'll tell you why.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Because when it comes to some.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Miracle and making the playoffs, they've already lost to Denver,
They've lost to Buffalo, they've lost to Jacksonville, they've lost
to the Chargers. See all these teams in the middle
of the picture right there, they've lost to them.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
That's when you pull.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Up a miracle and it's you were Jackson, But well,
Jackson'll beat you.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Jackson will beat you, Buffalo beat you.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
So they have to definitely finish winning all their last games,
which is only five left. You're gonna hear the phrase
run the table a lot over the next week, and
it's gonna harken back to Aaron Rodgers in twenty sixteen
on the Packers. The Packers were four and six that year,
terrible record, and Rodgers comes out.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
And says, I think we can ruin the table. And
they won six games in a row to finish ten
and six. They made the playoffs. They were the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
They were great, and it was really incredible. That's what
Mahomes is going to need to do. He's going to
need to just win every single game because if he doesn't,
let me just say, how weird is it going to be.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Let's say they lose the next game to Houston.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Let's say they lose to Houston and the Chargers and
they're six and eight.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
And they're out, they're eliminated.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Are we going to have games like in week eighteen
where Patrick Mahomes is the street clothes and Gardner Minshew
is just filling out the season playing quarterback.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
This is so weird. And so I'll tell you why
it's strange.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
It's not strange that the Chiefs are five hundred and
can't seem to figure out a way to win consistently.
It's strange because we can't point to a reason and
say this, Patrick Mahomes is not injured.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Andy Reid did not retire. Sark did not retire.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Travis Kelce's there, Chris Jones is there, all Rice is there,
They're all there.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
I just it just doesn't work.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Like, if the Chiefs are going to have this season,
it's because everybody left in free agency or everybody got hurt.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
I'm not saying that twelve and oh, they're not even
above five hundred.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
This is this really weird season.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
And what makes it even more weird is that all
we do, morning, noon, and night is we compare the
pay the Mahomes Chiefs to the Brady Patriots. Okay, this
never happened. Never that Brady got hurt one year and
they still won ten games under Belichick. It's like, we
don't know what to do with this team. And when
you watch yesterday, what is the glaring thing in the

(06:30):
football perspective that steps out other than it's.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Like they just don't quite make enough.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Plays, you know what I mean. That's all we can
point to. And it's just bizarre. And if they lose
next week, like I've said, I'll pass to you guys.
But like I've said, the only thing that's going to
convince me the Chiefs are done is mathematics, and when
they are mathematically eliminated, I will let go of them.
I still think they're gonna win six in a row
or five in a row. But my god, it is
really strange times right now.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Just say this about the Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
If they didn't start three, five and one, we'd be
so excited.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Right now, they're cruising.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
They can win the Super I still don't know if
they're getting in the playoff. And I think they're a
top five team in the NFL right now. We don't
do power rings, a good Morning Football. They're in the
top five. I don't know where they are. I don't care.
When you come off those two wins and you have
the defense that's playing better and those weapons, top five
team in the NFL, and it.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
May not be enough.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
That's the very essence of what we call the come
running team is that no one really wants to play them.
No one wants them to get in the playoffs. And
maybe they don't get in the playoffs, and so it's
like we may have a top five NFL team that
is not in the top fourteen playoff teams.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
They may have to win out the schedules.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Not I mean that Detroit next week, Detroit's going to
be really desperate.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
I just so you can tell, I'm excited. I'm energetic.
It's fun when the Cowboys are really mattering and we're.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Talking about them in the opening segment of the show,
not because of their Netflix specials, not because of their
content that they're making, not because of something Jerry said.
We're not talking about Jerry at all here. We're talking
about something that cowboys did on the field. And that's
how it should be, and that's how it is. It
was so good to see Joe Burrow on the field.
I say that it's just a full football geek fields.

(08:06):
We all love all the quarterbacks, we love all the players.
But it's similar to a big family Thanksgiving get together
where your aunts.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
And uncles are great. But like when that one.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Cousin shows up, who's like your guy or your girl,
you know whoever it is, cousin Joe, Yes, Joe's here.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
I talk with Joe. We like to eat the same stuff,
we like to drink the same stuff.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
He liked making fun of this, Like I just felt
like it was a familiar family guy who was who
was my guy?

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Who I wanted there?

Speaker 2 (08:29):
And it was listen there's a bunch of million quarterbacks
we can watch all week, but.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
They're just not like this. And again, I love Joe Blacko,
God bless him. I'm fine with Jake Browning.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Nobody liked this guy, even Josh Allen obviously. Lamar Mahomes
is just this guy's different and I like to watch
him on my TV when playing football, and I hate
that he was hurt. It was wonderful to see him
back Baltimore. Damn, this was a really really disappointing night,
really disappointing. Lamar is not playing well. He's gone three
straight games without.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Throwing a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
He's got a whole bunch without running for a touchdown.
If you think about on Thanksgiving night in the purple
uniforms of purple helmets at home, Joe Burrows supposed to
be rusty and it's just this all night, and you're
supposed to be the come running team.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Six and six.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Can we see the AFC because we thought them the
Ravens had just decided they're going to come storming down here,
and now you're lurking. You got Mahomes and Lamar healthy
with weapons and veteran coaches sitting there with the same
big dumb six and six record coming off of Thanksgiving loss.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
What are we doing here?

Speaker 4 (09:34):
They're over there and on the left we got the
Jaguars Old Man Rogers bow knicks Like this up is
down right now, guys, But this is the new NFL
and the Ravens look really bad and the Chiefs just can't.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
Figure it out. So it's a strange time, but get
used to it. It's real.
