Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Hey, this is.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Peter Schreger from Good Morning Football. It's officially summer, officially
the off season.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
So what do we do?

Speaker 3 (00:21):
We go back and relived Super Bowl and we're going
to do that on this podcast. Here here are the
athletes and the interviews that led up to the big
game on Good Morning Football.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Find out who ended up being right and who was.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Wrong with their predictions, and yes, I was right. So
let's go back and enjoy Super Bowl Week with the
Good Morning Football crew.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
Good Morning Football, that's what it is. Welcome to Good
Morning Football, presented by CDW ahead of Super Bowl fifty eight.

Speaker 5 (00:46):
We are originating from New York City. It's Thursday. I'm
Jamie or at all.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
There's Peter schre here with the fist pump, Cameron Wolf
filling in on that side of the table. It's up Cam,
and then Viking safety Joshma tell us go blue. Josh,
you are here for the week. How does it feel too?
Been on Vikings teams that were in playoffs whatever to
watch so intimately this week, especially being on TV, teams
are buying for a Super Bowl does it make you

(01:11):
want to taste it.

Speaker 6 (01:12):
Even Yeah, I would say the closer, the closer I
get to the end of my career, because there's obviously approach.
I'm on the back half of it, my football career.
You know, you can't play this game forever like other sports,
but you know, you just you just get that itch
and that like it's that feeling like you want to
experience that. You talk about Deebo his rookie year he went.
Now five years later or four years later, he's back

(01:33):
in the same position. It's like, I want that, you know,
I want that. I want to be in a super Bowl.
I want that feeling being with my team. We grinded
throughout the whole offseason talking about this one goal and
we finally get there, and uh, you know, it's something
as a competitor, you know, as a winner, you want
and you know, I'm mentioning for it when.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
I say that Isaiah Pacheka is going to be the
first running back in the history of the sport to
potentially win back to back Super Bowls in his first
two years.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
And you hear that, you say, come on.

Speaker 6 (01:58):
That's just that's not fair, Like what do we do spoil, right, guy,
Harrison Smith been in the league a long time, is
now even been to a Super Bowl. And a guy
like that, Spoiled gets two super Bowls and let alone
has a chance to win both of them. So yes,
it's definitely something I'm jealous of and kudos to him.

Speaker 7 (02:15):
One thing I'm curious about, Like we've talked a lot
about all the positions you play twelve different spots, like
a versatile piece and Brian Forest defense, is there a
guy on either side of the defensive ball for this
game that you look at and is like he kind
of does what I do.

Speaker 6 (02:28):
Kyle Uschak, Yeah, I would say he's as versatile as
they come. They're able to do a lot of the
stuff they do because of him. Like I said yesterday
and yesterday's show, they like twenty one personnel, and when
you have a fullback who can play tight end, who
can line up and catch balls and Tony to tap
on the sideline like he did last week and do

(02:49):
stuff like that, you can do anything. And I would
say that kind of what makes our defense special in Minnesota,
you know, me being able to play so many different spots,
we can do a lot of different things.

Speaker 8 (02:58):
And you never know what's coming. And it's the same thing.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
With him on tically black Lee block Don is starting
to streak over Allegiance Stadium in Las Vegas, which means
it's just after six am there.

Speaker 5 (03:13):
It is where the game's gonna be playing on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Sherry Burris is at the Chiefs Hotel, though both teams
in the NFL opting to situate these teams outside city proper,
if you will, and MRI's.

Speaker 5 (03:23):
With the forty nine ers. We'll hear from Omar in
a beat.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
Cherry will start with you Chiefs defense, Will they have
their hands full with Brock party and friends and how
do they go out handling their business both on the
field but also Casey in general in Las Vegas.

Speaker 9 (03:38):
Yeah, well, Jamie, this Chiefs defense has already faced three
tough quarterbacks into a tongue of Iloa, Josh Allen and
Lamar Jackson. And talking to linebacker Leo Schanell, he said,
between the three of them, what they have already faced
in the playoffs is scramble ability, avoid ability and having
to defend throws on the run. But it was linebacker

(03:59):
Nick Bolton who told me Purty is different he's more
about rhythm and timing and making plays outside the numbers
and he can make every throw. So talking to Chanelle,
he told me two key aspects for this defense. One
is going to be plastering receivers when a play breaks down.
He told me that'll be quote huge. Also finishing sacks.

(04:20):
Chiefs had the second most sacks in the regular season.
But if you think back to the AFC Championship game,
Chanelle had a chance to get Lamar Jackson down. That's
when he avoided him through that deep past his Z
flowers in the end zone. Only touchdown the defense allowed
in that game. But Chanelle said that one really has
been sticking with him over the last week and a half.

(04:41):
So as they look at what they've been able to do,
they need to learn from their mistakes.

Speaker 10 (04:45):
Flush it.

Speaker 9 (04:45):
But you don't want those mistakes to be repeated, particularly
on Sunday in the Super Bowl against Rock Party and
this offense. And that's where we find our oar Reeze
just down the street at the team Hotel.

Speaker 11 (04:58):
Hey Sherry, just six seasons in as a starter for
Patrick Mahomes already discussions is he the greatest quarterback of
all time?

Speaker 10 (05:05):
Well, Fred Warner said that he doesn't need to hear.

Speaker 11 (05:08):
It about those accolades or descriptions to know exactly how
good Patrick Mahomes is.

Speaker 10 (05:13):
He recalled the first time that he ever faced Mahomes.

Speaker 11 (05:16):
It was Week three, twenty eighteen, Patrick mahomes first home.

Speaker 10 (05:20):
Game as a starter.

Speaker 11 (05:21):
They're at Arrowhead Stadium, the third game of Fred Warner's career,
and perhaps the first of many magical moments from Patrick Mahomes.
He was flushed out of the pocket, left Fred Waters
there thinks he has a sack. Oh no, Patrick Mahomes
rolls right, finds Chris Conley in the end zone for
a touchdown. Fred Warner saying, over the years he's seen
the maturity from Patrick Mahomes, knowing that every play doesn't

(05:45):
have to be a hero play, and making those good
decisions while still making those magical moments. And then there's
Charvarius Ward, the forty nine ers star corner former chief.
I asked him, after practicing against Mahomes every day for
so many years, are there any tells or habits you've
picked up from him that you might be able to
help help you on Sunday?

Speaker 10 (06:05):
And he said no.

Speaker 11 (06:06):
He says coaches every week watch hundreds of hours of
Patrick Mahomes film, and those tells haven't been able to
help them yet. But he said, you can't think of
him as that future Hall of Famer. He said, the
same thing goes for Travis Kelce. You have to square
up against them, do your homework, and he said, it's
not so much about beating Mahomes on every particular play.

Speaker 10 (06:27):
It's about beating the man in front of you. And
if he can get better position on.

Speaker 11 (06:32):
The football in Patrick Mahomes passes than the receiver, then
he has a chance to make those turnovers to create
a game changing play and that's how you beat Patrick Mahomes.
So a lot of respect from these forty nine ers,
but they're approaching it like they do every other week,
just doing their homework, staying confident in themselves and looking
forward to that challenge on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
Well as the fourteen postseason teams that Mahomes has faced before.
This could probably tell you easier said than done. Omar Ruiz,
Omar Sherry, we appreciate you both all week long. Go
take a nap and maybe filter out some of the
coffee that you've had the last couple of days.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
Enjoy Vegas. Talk to you guys soon.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
Time for a favorite part of our week, Throw it
Out Thursday. But in this edition of throw itown Thursday,
we have extra players for.

Speaker 5 (07:18):
This throw it out.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Let's go.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
That's happening, gentlemen, Please don't throw down in Vegas.

Speaker 5 (07:24):
We want you to come home.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Hi, guys, we're here in the radio row. I'm here
with Jason mccordy, Las Vegas. Jason, how are you feeling.

Speaker 8 (07:32):
I'm awake. I made it up.

Speaker 12 (07:34):
I was nervous that I wasn't gonna wake up till
alarm this morning, but I did it. I feel good
and I'm here.

Speaker 8 (07:38):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
I was a little naughty last night. I partied at
about nine o'clock. I went into the Mini bar for
a few recent pieces before I went to bed, and
I'm glad I did, because, guys, it is a party here.
They got a woman who built the Allegiant Stadium out
of sandwiches.

Speaker 8 (07:53):
She's here.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
There's a father and son who made a life sized
Patrick Mahomes out of legos. And I'm hearing that Frank
Callando might be here do some impressions in the radio.
And we love Frank. So it's electric factor here and
ready row as always.

Speaker 8 (08:05):
Did you meet the man that climbed?

Speaker 7 (08:06):
We know Kyle?

Speaker 1 (08:07):
Oh yeah, I've heard that guy. He's a legend.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Yeah, for all we know, Kyle, it might not be
Kyle brand it's Frank Kelly Endo and Jason McCarty sitting there.

Speaker 5 (08:14):
He's that good. All right, let's get started.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
We have two of the best tight ends in the
game today, maybe of all time, taking the field on Sunday.
It will be an absolute beautiful thing to watch unfold
after Super Bowl fifty eight.

Speaker 5 (08:25):
Here's the thrownout.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
Who would you rather roll with back into Las Vegas
with a Lombardi in their hand?

Speaker 5 (08:31):
Is it George Kittle, Peter or Travis Kelcey.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
I'll tell you this. Kittle is a rock star. Kittle
is a madman Kettle. When they do that tight end University,
Kittle goes up and down Broadway in Nashville like he's
the pied Piper and everyone just follows him. A.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Kittle is the party guy. I think Kelsey's a little
soft these days.

Speaker 5 (08:49):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
I think Kelsey's gonna take his lovely potentially bride, but
now his girlfriend. They're gonna walk hand in hand they're
gonna go see the Blagio fountains. They're gonna have the
Lombardi in their hands. Yeah, it's gonna be a romantic people.
That's not for me, that's for them. I think Kelsey
is gonna be very emotional after this game. Kittle's gonna
be going Nah, he's gonna rae. I want to go
with the guy who's gonna go rage. I want to
go out with Kittle. And I don't think Kittle's going

(09:11):
to one of the fancy nightclubs or buying bottles going
to I think Kittle's going to like a dive bar
and that's where my speed. So I'm gonna go Kittle
over Kelsey. I love both these guys. I hope both
of them have an amazing night win or lose. But
you know, in Travis's case, I want that to be
a romantic one one night with him in Tata.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
So, Peter, I think you have h Travis Kelce a
little rue come.

Speaker 7 (09:30):
I know Taylor Swift has changed some things and he's
a little bit more polished, but this is still the
guy who has one of the most epic post game
lines that we can remember after a win. Let's take
a Listen, you gotta fight for your ride.

Speaker 8 (09:48):
Believe it. Maybe we're going to Las Vegas, Nevada.

Speaker 7 (09:55):
That was just two weeks ago. We're going to Vegas.
You gotta fight for your right to party. And I
want to party with Travis Kelcey. I want to party
with Jay Kelsey. Hey, I want to party with Taylor Swift.
I think we're gonna have a blast. I don't think
that it's gonna.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Be this carriage ride.

Speaker 7 (10:11):
I don't think it's gonna be you know this VI
I p set up. I think that we're gonna get
in the nitty gritty and we're gonna have a blast.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
And I want to I want.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
To be like Papa Razzi.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
I don't want to deal with t m Z. I
have Travis, that's a lot, man. I don't want to
party with my friends that.

Speaker 6 (10:26):
If you have the Lombardi you're gonna have absolutely absolutely.
I like the energy of George Kittle. I think he
has amazing energy. I think that would be amazing Kelsey.
On the other hand, I do think we have a
better chance of running into more celebrities, and you know,
at this event, there's already gonna be a lot of
celebrities in town. You with Travis Kelsey, Taylor Swift, You're
bound to run into somebody. So that's what my my

(10:48):
bed is gonna be on, just so we can run.

Speaker 8 (10:50):
You do you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (10:51):
You never know?

Speaker 8 (10:52):
You never know.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Taylor Swift's got so much clout, like.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
We can be end up across in Japan.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
You never I don't.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
I don't want to be in this interaction socially and
like having lost all of my words out of just
nervousness of having to deal with Taylor Swift, because that's
how that would go down. So I go with the Kittles.
Claire Kittle is a star. She was a women's basketball
player at Iowa. I can hang, I can his college Sweeter,
I can hang with the girls, with the former girls
basketball players, Like those are my people right there. And

(11:23):
so I go with the Kittle family because George and
Claire are studs, and I'm with Peter in this instance,
not famous, but known. That's all you want to be
in Vegas, Kyle Jason, talk to us.

Speaker 8 (11:37):
This is easy.

Speaker 12 (11:37):
You guys are talking about famous. I want to be
amongst the famous people. We're here and we're in Vegas.
You walk around. I'm the Cosmo last night. I'm walking around.
I see Linda, Why, I see Cam Newa Raheem Molster.
There's so many people that are around here. I want
to be a part of the crowd walking through, Taylor,
I'm part of the entourage, Kelsey, all of us. And
as we walk through, everybody just turning their heads and
I'm like, who is that? And I want to stand out.

(11:59):
You know, I'm coming with the Fitgunna Like, wow, who's.

Speaker 8 (12:01):
The ball guy in the front. He looks really good And.

Speaker 12 (12:04):
That's going to be our crowd hanging out all night. Peter,
I know he's taken now all that, but you gotta
still be able to hang out with the boys. You
give her a kiss at the end, and I say, hey,
it was marvelous. Now we're going to hang out and
we're going to turn this city out.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
I'm at the point in life I'm not going to
be told that I can't get in somewhere.

Speaker 8 (12:19):
I'm not on the list. I just don't. I don't
want to do.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Yeah, I'm going with the Kelsey's because we're just going
to breeze through. But more importantly, I'm going to break
the question the answer is not Kelsey or Kittle. It's
whoever I saw this morning. I'm gonna give you a
blind up. Okay, we got to be in the lobby
at our hotel at five point fifteen to come here
and talk to you guys. I get down there at
five ten, I walk to go get a coffee, and
you walk through the coffee, you walk through you know,
the casino. I saw a guy that we all know.

(12:44):
I'm going to say the name, all right, this guy
is a very good place. This guy's an all pro,
not a pro bowler, Jason all pro. And I'm trying
to describe at five ten in the morning, the kind
of life he was living. Remember the credit scenes and
the hangover when they show all the pictures. I feel
like that was that this person. And I'm not saying
is this all pro player. I've never seen someone having

(13:07):
more fun in at a bachelor party, at a wedding,
at anything. This is the guy in this blind item
who I want to roll with. I'm not revealing it.
I'm not tossing to sound on tape. I just saw
him about half an hour ago. I've never seen someone
having a better time, great player, great time.

Speaker 8 (13:20):
I want to roll with him.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
I cannot believe you just added CJ. Ham like that.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
We just destroyed this reputation.

Speaker 8 (13:30):
Don't do no.

Speaker 4 (13:32):
Go Oh my gosh, finally a second throat out. We're
all aware of a certain singer, certain singer songwriter who
may or may not be flying from Japan to Las
Vegas to attend Super Bowl fifty eight. The embassy in
Japan seems to think she's coming, and her boyfriend has
yet to confirm it. But which pop star do you

(13:53):
think cool there was more buzz about come Monday morning.
Is it Taylor Swift or the person that's headlining the
Apple Music Super Bowl fifty eight halftime show in Usher?

Speaker 5 (14:02):
Peter.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
I think that both of these vidules are gonna get
a lot of buzz and we'll be trending all night.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
This is stolen truly from cousin South Aicano and from
Bill Simmons. I think at the end of this game,
if the chiefs for the Super Bowl, Travis Kelsey will
retrieve an engagement ring from the navel the belly of
Andy Reid will pull that that that ring out of
Andy Reid's belly, will get on a knee and we'll
propose to Taylor Swift, and thus it will be Taylor Swift.

(14:28):
I'm going Swift is gonna have a bigger rub, It's
gonna have a bigger buzz, and I think it's going
to be Taylor Swift over Usher. Despite an amazing performance
by Usher.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Who I think.

Speaker 6 (14:38):
I think it's tough, you know, the camp right now,
especially if the Chiefs do win. Uh, But I think
if Usher brings out the right people during his like
JB jay Z Atlicia Keys, you know, just start, there's somebody,
you know that we're not expecting, you know, somebody just
to make a splash, somebody on the Ludacris Ludacris, you know,

(14:59):
somebody who maybe not isn't the level of Taylor Swift
and doesn't have the quite a hype, but someone close.
So someone who can plus Usher jump make that jump.

Speaker 8 (15:10):
So it's got to be the swiftiest to me. I
love Usher.

Speaker 7 (15:12):
You know, seven o'clock in the drop top, you know whatever,
we're flowing with Usher. I'm gonna be jamming at the halftime.
But this has been a Swift year. You know, we're
gonna be talking about if she's gonna make it on
time from Japan. We're gonna see what's the over under
on Taylor's what shots during the game. It's gonna be
happened during the game, and then whether after we're gonna
be talking about what Peter's talking about with the proposal
with I don't think it's gonna happen on a knee whatever,

(15:35):
or we're gonna be talking about the celebration for Travis
or the tier, you know, for whatever it is. We're
gonna be talking one way or the other about the reaction,
what it means, how she's either consoling her boyfriend or
she's celebrating with her boyfriend. I think that's gonna dominate
the money more money talk, and it's gonna transcend the
sports world.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
The only time, the only way Peter he can accomplish
this is if he has already gone to mister Clark
Khinton said, please create me a future Super Bowl fifty
eight winning ring that you the model essentially are going
to based off of if the Chiefs win. So I
have it with me too, proposed to her that I
feel like that's the only ring you can propose engagement.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
Ring, a proper diamond ring, and he'll get the Super
Bowl ring later, guys, it's not crazy. This This couple
has been very, very publicly celebrated.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
It is not crazy. If they win the super Bowl,
he gets on a knee and proposals to it. But
is she gonna want that?

Speaker 13 (16:26):
Right?

Speaker 3 (16:26):
He traf will be there with his glasses and we'll
be so happy for her.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
He'll go true and Sharon'll pop out of norlanda del
ray like. They'll all be there. They might as well
just get varied right then and then go to go
to an evis chapel afterwards. Uh, guys, who we're gonna
be talking more about? Is it actually let's throw a
third option in. Is it the behavior of Jason mccordy
in Vegas on Sunday?

Speaker 5 (16:46):
Taylor Swift or Usher?

Speaker 12 (16:49):
It's probably going to be my behavior somebody else's, But
I'm rolling with Usher on this. While he released new
tour days, I think Monday, everybody's gonna be talking about
him after they see his performance. They're gonna say, hey,
we have to find out when he's in my city.
I enjoyed your story so much in that last one
where we actually question so last night I go out
to dinner, I meet up with my brother One of
my best friends, just the guys a night out on

(17:10):
the town. So we're walking through the restaurant. We're walk
into our seats. I run into an absolute hall of famer,
one of my favorite guys that go back and watch,
kind of a trailblazer, if I can say. And he's
sitting at a table, and you're like, all right, you
see a hall of fame guy from back in the day,
probably with his wife just hanging out. He's sitting there himself,
six beautiful women around him at the table. We sat

(17:31):
at our table and we're just like, what are we doing?
Like this guy is out here absolutely killing it. And
we're sitting there, just the three of us, round of drinks,
some bread on the table, and I was just like,
how do I live life? I didn't get a gold jacket.
I guess I just can't do it like that. So
that's what I'm gonna be talking about Monday morning when
I get back home.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
Jason and I talked about this off. Yes, we day
have the answer key I'm gonna add to it though.
All right, First of all, the answer is listen. Us
just gonna be up there and singing and dancing and
entertaining and Monday morning, there's gonna be videos of Taylor
dancing two him that are going to blow up, Like
he's on the stage, She's.

Speaker 8 (18:07):
Up there dancing.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
That's gonna be the video you want another black It's
not like Jason's Jason's wild. On the flight here, yeah right,
And you guys know this because you're on the text chain.
Don't give it away. On the flight here, all right,
there is a a very young but very good football
player and not all PROBA, very good football player who
is flying in the coach cabin, which I respect, I'm

(18:28):
not gonna coach shame him. But what's interesting about it
is he's in the coach cabin and way up in front,
thirty rows in front of Jason and I there are
two reality stars riding in stars. It's like really like
kind of reality icons in first class, whereas this great,
great player is riding in coach and it just felt strange,
very strange.

Speaker 12 (18:47):
We're saying what's up, and I'm like, where's where's he going?

Speaker 1 (18:50):
He's going, Oh my goodness, Like why was Jack Dawson
down in the steerage But Cal Hockley is up there
smoking cigars and Titanic we've seen it all. Jason's story
was the best one because I know the answer, but
that's we'll leave it alone. Guys blind items, you never
answer who they are.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
A couple of thoughts on this. I love this. It's
all great.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
First of all, just because Morton Anderson's having a good
time does not need to spoil it Jason and come
in in the morning and be like And the second one,
coach shaming is okay to me.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Whoever that player is probably need a new agent's.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
I would think so, right, I mean, especially like you know,
flying on the jet. I mean, come on, anyway, we
got to get I think there'll be more videos of Taylor.

Speaker 10 (19:43):
Kyle.

Speaker 4 (19:43):
You said you were you and al say you are not.
You dipped into the mini bar for the reces. We
can just hear it in the gargle in your throat,
that those that chocolate. It just hangs with you. You
got to rest up, man, you have an angry run
segment to prepare for for Honors later.

Speaker 8 (19:55):
I can't wait. I do.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
I'll be doing that tonight at NFL Honors. I rehearsed yesterday.
It's again going to be absolutely insane.

Speaker 8 (20:03):
I'm ready.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Jason's ready, Jason. I saw where Jason's sitting. Jason's sitting
right behind maybe one of the top three most important
people in all of football. Very powerful man. We'll reveal
it tonight, but I will be doing angry. Ron's very nervous.
You saw the three finals we introduced them, and Jamie,
I'll have you know that the recent pieces out in
the minibar were washed down with something called beefeater and
it's delicious and it gets a job done. So I'll

(20:25):
be ready to rock tonight. Hope everybody's watching.

Speaker 8 (20:27):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
You know my blood sugar and my inability to drink
alcohol right now is jealous of that.

Speaker 5 (20:32):
Kyle, we miss you, guys.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
Enjoy Vegas, yes, and keep an eye ot for a
Hall of Fame running back.

Speaker 5 (20:38):
He might be coming to stop by tonight.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
As Kyle mentioned, Jason mccordy's going to be handing out
an award. Kyle Brandt's going to be handing out an award,
and those awards will be seen at NFL Honors. It's
a way for the stars to kick off with Girl
fifteen weekend to celebrate the twenty twenty three NFL season
with your host Keith and Michael Keith. You can watch
on CBS NFL network. You can stream on Paramount Plus,
NFL Plus, or visit NFL dot com Slash Honors for more.

(21:01):
The votes have been cast for Jason's Fit List Award
Best Stadium Arrival.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Play the music.

Speaker 5 (21:08):
This is what to do when Emmett shows up to you.

Speaker 12 (21:12):
Shot out.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
I don't want to. I can't suppose to read the
copy Peter O kim h.

Speaker 7 (21:20):
Ever, she Rice is looking for his big Super Bowl debut.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
What are the rookies? Could he join Peter's Fab Five his.

Speaker 14 (21:27):
Next Welcome back to Good Morning Football, as we see
the Vince Lombardi Trophy looming large over the Vegas strips
so beautifully.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
We're back for a special edition of a segment I
do every week called the Fab Five. It's usually all
the rookies from this season, and in this case, one
guy who was on that list several different weeks is
right here. It's for she Rice.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
He's the second round pick out of SMU.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
He led the Chiefs to just about every receiving statistic
this year. It was one of the best rookies to
take the field in the Super Bowl this week, which
got us thinking one of the best five rookie performances
in Super Bowl history.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
Let's get it started. How do you want to define it?

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Do you want to define it by the biggest numbers,
the biggest moments, or one of the biggest plays in
Super Bowl history? At number five all time rookie performances
in a.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
Super Bowl, Well, we're going Malcolm Butler.

Speaker 3 (22:26):
This is Malcolm Butler here, arguably the greatest play in
Super Bowl history. This was a rookie, a rookie out
of West Alabama, a rookie who was undrafted. Malcolm Butler,
right place, right time they practiced this. If you remember
the clip, Belichick throws them into getting the game because
they had works on this.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
All throughout practice that week.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
Malcolm Butler quiet all season, which is a steady player,
but as the fifth corner on this roster, gets the
nod here and gets to go in the biggest play.

Speaker 8 (22:57):
Of the game for ever play, first.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
Career NFL interception just happens to be in the Super
Bowl and the biggest moment of his life.

Speaker 2 (23:04):
Undrafted rookie out of West Alabama.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
He played the fifth most snaps at cornerback for the
Patriots in that twenty fourteen postseason, meaning there were four
other guys playing more than him, but in the big
moment he was on the field, played only eighteen snaps,
fourth amongst those corners, and yet he makes the all
time list for best rookie performances ever because of that
one play.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
Malcolm Butler, we see that number five. How about number four?

Speaker 3 (23:29):
How about the fridge William refrigerator carriage.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
Okay, the fridge had this amazing rookie season. Everybody was
all on the head at Gi Joe character.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
Let's listen to how NBC's Dick Enberg called one of
the greatest touchdowns of Super Bowl history.

Speaker 8 (23:49):
Carry that one register at three point eight.

Speaker 7 (23:58):
Another Super Bowl rerecord, the first refrigerator to score.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
An incredible line from Edinburgh measures on the Richter scale,
and the first refrigerator ever to score.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
We give it to the fridge here. He had one
of the great.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
Rookie seasons, a first round pick out of Clemson. And
then on the goal line, guys, the crazy stat with
this they scored forty six points.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Everyone scored.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
Walter Payton did not score in this game. They gave
the ball to the Fridge on the goal line instead.
A lot of Bears fans says, that's kind of messed up.
Give the ball to the Walter Payton, give him sweetness,
Well the fridge.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
He got his and he got his spike. That is
number four, number three.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
We're going to the forty nine ers, and you might
not know this name, but he had one of the
greatest rookie seasons of all time for a defensive back,
and that's Eric right, Eric right in the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
This is him covering Chris Collins from guys and making
plays all over the field. Eric Wright, number twenty one.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
Okay, this is a game in which he had two
pass deflections, an interception, a force fumble, and four tackles
in one of the great Super Bowl performances.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
We love you Chris, We love your CC.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
Eric Wright got a big one in that one right there,
causing the fumble. Eric Wright, rookie for the forty nine
defensive player picking off Kenny Anderson here on this one.
This guy twenty six to twenty one. Every defensive play
mattered in the Super Bowl, and Eric Wright helped the
forty nine Ers get their first Super Bowl ring in
their Lombardi Trophy.

Speaker 2 (25:17):
All the way back in Super Bowl sixteen. How about
number two.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
How about a guy who's up for the Hall of
Fame and as a finalist tonight, Rams wide receiver, mister
Tory Holt.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
Tory Holt greatest show on turf. We're number eighty eight,
which was not as uniform the rest of his career.
Eventually moved to eighty one.

Speaker 3 (25:34):
Kurt Warner dison it up, slicing it up all over
that Titans defense, and Tory Holt had a career day
in the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
Warner looking amazing all over the field finding him.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
How about these numbers from Tory seven catches one hundred
and nine yards and a touchdown in a Super Bowl
victory over the Tennessee Titans. You look at this, most
receiving yards by a rookie wide receiver in NFL history.
In the Super Bowl we've had fifty eight of these games,
Tory Holt went for one oh nine, Collins Work went
for one oh seven, Corey Clement, the running back from

(26:06):
the Eagles with one hundred, Jamar chasing a loss, and
of course Sammy White all the way.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
Back at Super Bowl eleven.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
That is that the greatest performance ever had by a
rookie took place for a Washington running back named Timmy Smith.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
Do you guys know about Timmy Smith. Timmy Smith's story
is incredible.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
Here he is in Super Bowl twenty two getting the
handout from Doug Williams and going up against that orange
crush defense of the Denver Broncos. And there's Timmy Smith
number thirty six going long.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
For the run.

Speaker 14 (26:37):
There.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
But that wasn't where it stopped.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
Timmy Smith had one of the greatest games ever and
Timmy Smith did it on the biggest stage. Let's go
through the Timmy Smith numbers. Are you guys ready for this?
Twenty two carries two hundred and forty yards and two
touchdowns as a rookie in the Super Bowl. Timmy Smith
in a single game puts this to bed.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
Marcus Allen too. These guys all here, All of these
guys have Hall of Jackets, right.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Timmy Smith a rookie for the Washington football team that day.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
The craziest thing he had.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
One hundred and twenty six yards all regular season through
sixteen weeks, one hundred and twenty six yards all season,
gets to the Super Bowl and has two hundred and four.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
Yes, Doug Williams would get the MVP. He would hoist
that trophy.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
But Timmy Smith the greatest rookie performance we have ever
seen in Super Bowl history.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
So here we have it.

Speaker 3 (27:31):
Timmy Smith, Tory Holt, Eric Wright, the Fridge, Malcolm Butler.
There's so many other great performances. I'll say this for
she Rice, that's the big name, but there are several.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
Rookies in this. One might be a kicker for San Francisco,
who knows. Guys, what do you think of this list
and the top five performances.

Speaker 6 (27:48):
I think number three deserves to win Super Bowl MVP
if he didn't. I think as a rookie to play
that well at a cornerback is hard, especially in this league.
And for him that those stats are crazy, those are
like did everything, Yeah, he did everything in that game.
I think he deserves the least.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
Shout out to Eric Wright. I love to get to
mention his name today.

Speaker 7 (28:07):
And I love the Malcolm Butler story because it's perfect
for the Super Bowl. Anybody could have that moment. I
talked to him four years ago about this play. He
said he recognized a bunch formation, he guess slant, and
he made the play. That's all it is, that one play,
The one film study. The one extra snap can define
your life. He said, to change my life overnight. Whose
life gets changed overnight on Sunday?

Speaker 2 (28:27):
I love it, Jamie.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
Did Peter just make your skin tingle? With that reference
to Jake Moody, the Michigan Man.

Speaker 5 (28:32):
You have an impact of a game like that, Peter.

Speaker 4 (28:35):
Dog you be could that list makes Peter skin table
over there? It's so good God to be able to
accomplish that, man.

Speaker 2 (28:42):
She writes, we see you one hundred and ten yards.
You have the all time record. Go get it.

Speaker 15 (28:48):
I will tell about The NFL Fan of the Year contest,
presented by Captain Morgan is back. More than sixty one
thousand super fans ended for a chance to represent their
team at Super Bowl fifty eight and be named the
Ultimate NFL Fan of the Year at NFL Honors. So
let's hear it for Houston Texans Fan of the Year.

been hearing predictions all week on who will win the

(29:55):
Super Bowl, everybody has a take, but some, like Raiders
defensive end Max Crosby, have well a different reason for
picking the Super Bowl winner. He joined Brian Boldinger on
Super Bowl Live to explain his was preferred.

Speaker 13 (30:10):
Choice to be the best. You got to beat the best,
so we're looking forward to the challenge. You know, at
the end of the day, people are asking me who
do I want to win, The Chiefs, the or the Niners,
And for me, you know, I want to you know, selfishly,
I want the Chiefs to win so we could be
the ones to take them down and take them off
that pedestal. So you know, I take it really personal.

(30:30):
I got the ultimate respect for Mahomes and Chris Jones
and all those guys, but they're the ones standing in
our way, so we're looking forward to see him again
next season.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
Unrest, that's the take.

Speaker 15 (30:40):
Meanwhile, another Super Bowl news, Over one thousand and six
hundred local youth in grades four to six participated in
the NFL plays sixty Kids Day at the Super Bowl
Experience Wednesday at the Mandalaid Bay Convention Center. Students had
chance to spend time with NFL players, legends, mascots, and cheerleaders,
promoting the importance of staying active and living a healthy lifestyle,

and in sync member wins Best was Singing Ed, Pride
was Glad. That included Friend of the Show Carl Nassim,
the events spotlighting advances and the LGBTQ inclusion and professional sports,
as well as the NFL's commitment to LGBTQ players and fans.
Well up next, we're heading back out to Vegas, where

(31:23):
Kyle and jamac are joined by a legend Hall of
famer Emmitt Smith is coming your way.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
Don't go anywhere.

Speaker 12 (31:42):
Back on Good Morning Football. You guys know me and Kyle,
we are here in Vegas. That is the backdrop amongst
that as USUM and a lot of people are returning
to their hotel right now, as it's almost seven o'clock
locally as early. But more importantly, we are now joined
by a three time Super Bowl champ, super Bowl MVP,
and still the all time leading rusher in the NFL,

(32:03):
Emmett Smith. It is a pleasure to have you here.

Speaker 8 (32:06):
Bro.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
I'm twenty two.

Speaker 8 (32:07):
It's great, man, I'm great. Thank y'all for having me here.
And it's early morning, as you say, some people walking
in and some people just getting up getting to work
like we are. So I'm excited about the rest of
the day and the rest of the week. So how
you guys.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
It's early and yet still one of the most entertaining
commercial breaks we've ever had. Yes segment and it was
on one.

Speaker 8 (32:25):
We're gonna get into it. Let's get let's get right
into it.

Speaker 12 (32:27):
We're talking about America's team, and who is America's team.

Speaker 8 (32:31):
Let's get right into it.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
The Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 12 (32:32):
Because I grew up I had the MS Smith jersey
with the numbers peeling off and everything. Are the Cowboys
still America's team? It's been a minute since, yeah, it's.

Speaker 8 (32:40):
Been a minute, but still we are America's team, and
we established that brand as America's team, and you cannot
take that brand away from us, no matter who's trying to.
I cannot think of another team that earns the right
to be called America's team. I mean, you can talk
about New England and the championship and everything else. You
talk about the Celtics, you can talk about the Lakers,
they wouldn't even call America's team. Even Jordan them wasn't

(33:01):
even called America's team. So it's only one American team
and that's the Dallas Cowboys because we established that. That's
like trying to take Jordan away from Nike, and Nike
away from Jordan. Can't do it.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
Just cannot say you're trying to give Jordan to whoever's
next and Durant, Jordan's still Jordan. But I mean we
saw it like they were calling Detroit America's team. They
were calling the Browns a few years ago. I'm telling you,
not me Brown. I'm saying that just tossing out America's team, whoever.

Speaker 8 (33:27):
Wants that, that's very flippant, and that's that's that's unprofessional,
dude to be with.

Speaker 12 (33:32):
Now, America's team playoffs Green Bay Packers this past year.
Thoughts on that loss and kind of what we've seen
over the last since you were out there scoring touchdown.

Speaker 8 (33:41):
Well, we have not represented America in the most right,
the rightful way. I mean, things like that happens. But
we've been competitive, and we've been competitive for a number
of years. I think the success of the Dallas Cowboys
has been to give you the illusion that we're going
to be very good, the illusion that we're gonna be
very good, but we're really not as good as we
think we are. Because when you have moments like this,

(34:03):
a complete out down in the playoff, it is unacceptable.
It is embarrassing to the organization and to all of
the Cowboy Nation fans and fans. And so for me,
this right here is just not a good look. It
wasn't a great game. We didn't perform like we were
capable of. And the star looking a little tainted right
about now because these boys are doing whatever the heck

(34:24):
they want to do against us. It's embarrassing. It is
what it is.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
It's embarrassing. It's very strong, it's very honest. But I
mean he said that this was worse than one in fifteen,
that one loss. Right, that was worse team. It hurt
that bad. And I wasn't even on the one in
fifteen team. It just hurt that bad. It makes me
ill every time I think about it. Well, a lot
of fans feel the same way. You say, the stars
a little tainted, but the sideline will look the same
next year. So Jerry comes out and he cites regular

(34:51):
season winning for Mike McCarthy says, have to do better
in the playoffs. This team, this franchise is about playoff
wins and Super Bowl wins. How what you're feeling about,
We're gonna do the Mike McCarthy thing again.

Speaker 8 (35:02):
Well, first of all, when you come from an environment
where the organization and the coaches demand excellence, and when
you go on a run and win three Super Bowls
out of four years based off of that environment, that's
the environment I'm looking for us to get back to.
I know time has changed, but the process has not changed.

(35:26):
The mentality should not change. The expectations should not change,
and the performance should meet the expectations. When you go
into certain organizations, you should go into an organization knowing
what's expected of you. I shouldn't have to tell you
as a player, you should already show up like, Okay,
this is real. We on the big stage. No matter

(35:46):
what we do, no matter how successful we come, people
are gonna be looking at us. We can fail, they're
still gonna be looking at us. They're gonna be talking
about us for the next twenty years. And they have
been talking about the Cowboys so the last twenty years
or so, because we haven't been back to the big game.
And so that's a problem, but that gives you some
indication of how huge the Cowboys are. Every time the

(36:07):
season again, everybody want to talk about the Cowboys. They
don't care about nobody else but the Cowboys. So you
talk about America seam America's team drives ratings. So do
we give you the illusion that we're gonna be great?
So we can drive ratings, but we need to close
those ratings by winning championships.

Speaker 12 (36:24):
That's the way I see it. I won that championship.
I absolutely love that. Let's get to the championship. How
do we talk a little bit about the Chiefs, the
forty nine ers. For the forty nine ers, Christian McCaffrey,
this guy scrimmage touchdowns, he's leading, and he's in the
Super Bowl. Something you guys have in common. What is
it that makes this guy so special when you watch
him on a Sunday.

Speaker 8 (36:40):
His versatility, its endurance level, his ability just to make
guys miss and finish running downhill, finish it forward. He
has great speed. I mean, you watch him train, you
know he's ready to play every year. And he has
a nose the nose for the touchdown, but the end zone.

(37:01):
So this guy is probably one of the most leap
backs in the Nation Football League when you think about it.
From I thought Avin Kamara was that guy. This guy
he has advanceds game that high and so he's on
a roll. He's doing great. He's in the right system.
He utilize him in the right way. The diversity of
thought with him is huge. McCaffrey's first Super Bowl. Of course,

(37:23):
you played in three.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
But we're sitting here in Las Vegas, Nevada. What would
a Las Vegas Super Bowl trip have been like for
your teams back in the day to Vegas, a week
in Vegas? What would that have been like?

Speaker 8 (37:37):
My friend, Oh, I.

Speaker 12 (37:39):
Like how you looked up and it's like you're putting
yourself in that place.

Speaker 8 (37:43):
Now. I'm just thinking about how much trouble were, it
probably would have been pretty. But you know what, the
one thing about our team, whether it was in Los
Angeles or whether it was in Arizona or Atlanta, our
guys did not do anything to disrupt the chemistry of
who we were. We respect the rules of being in

(38:07):
your room when you need to be there, and so
we had fun and Jimmy made it clear, enjoy your time.
But this is it. Once you get to a level,
once you get to Thursday or Friday, it's time to
start locking in. All the party is. You can party Monday,
twos and Wednesday, but when you get to Thursday and Friday,
it's time to rain that thing in and start to
focus and zone in on reason why you are here.

(38:28):
I love that.

Speaker 12 (38:29):
Let's get into what you're holding because you're a guy
that you do so much and this is with the
emerging bio solutions and they're ready to rescue campaign and
you guys are trying to attack the opiate overdosing and
things of that nature. Talk about just kind of your
partnership and what you're doing.

Speaker 8 (38:44):
I'm proud of the simple fact that Emergent thought about
me to help spread the word about narcan nasal spray
and the usage of it to help with open you overdoses.
And so I'm here to just continue to spread the word.
I've lost family members that was depending on Open YOURDS,

(39:04):
lost some teammates, friends. All of that has happened in years,
and some of this has happened in the last six
months of the last six weeks, to be honest with
they had a good friend of mine. I lost the sun.
And so I'm just trying to help people get ready
so they don't have to stay ready, so they don't
have to get ready. And if you care, in one
of these Narkan nasal sprays, which I have right here,

(39:26):
it's simply simple to use. It's almost like a naval sprayer.
You spread in your nose and you can actually hopefully
revive someone. Oftentimes we may walk up on something and
not know what the situation might be. You may think
a person is actually sleep when they can actually be
having an overdose. Because overdoses are widely spread right now
with the evolution of fitting all and so forth, so

(39:49):
people are losing their lives left and right. And oftentimes
we hear about the celebrities, but we won't hear about
the everyday citizen, because the everyday person can be affected
no matter where you are, So we want you to
stay ready so you don't have to get ready.

Speaker 1 (40:02):
It's really smart, really necessary something everybody.

Speaker 8 (40:04):
Yeah, Evan, em it doesn't wilful job with us.

Speaker 1 (40:06):
As always, I'm glad you brought that to us.

Speaker 8 (40:07):
Thank you, thank you. I come bearing gifts.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
I love it, you always have.

Speaker 8 (40:11):
We love Emma Smith. We love them, sup.

Speaker 1 (40:13):
Jason, you just give me one in my childhood dream
that can you talk about Emmett and my shoes that
we're wearing right now?

Speaker 8 (40:17):
Come on.

Speaker 12 (40:18):
Emmitt walked on set, and Kyle was so proud of himself.
He was just like I have on the same Jordan's
as Emmitt has on the concourse Kyle has on the breads,
the black and reds Jordan Eleven's. I absolutely love it.

Speaker 8 (40:29):
And you know what I didn't get the member.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
We got two pairs of elevens. Eleven plus eleven is twenty.

Speaker 8 (40:35):
That's my guy. That's how we were, and it is early.

Speaker 1 (40:40):
Jason and I are both gonna be an honest tonight.
Jason's doing the best dressed I'm doing angry runs. Everybody
watch in Primetime. Emma, you're gonna be an honest tonight.

Speaker 8 (40:47):
I don't know.

He's been amazing. Most versatile player in football.

Speaker 7 (41:34):
Maybe versatility translated here on TV.

Speaker 2 (41:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (41:37):
I actually got an email from one of our producers

program at Michigan to help mentor students. He shot me
this email that you actually sent in March of twenty eighteen.
It says, Hello, mister Christensen. My name is Josh Mattellus.
I'm a sophomore in the Sports Management program. I would
like to start by thanking you for participating in the program.

(41:58):
