Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Oh it is a brand new edition of Good Morning
Football by Camp here in Los Angeles.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
My guys, a stand back.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Not to mention, we got a former NFL defensive tackle,
which he jos Able. Let's go not to mention our
guy Kyle Brandt hanging out in New York.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
And Kyle, I know you always have it on lock.
Speaker 4 (00:25):
Well, I'm gonna try a bit. I'm nervous right now.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yeah, because in the next segment of this show, we
have a mystery guest.
Speaker 4 (00:30):
None of us know who it is.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
None of us can prepare for this guest, but we
know it's one of the largest figures in the national
football We've been told that. So buckle up, mystery guests
coming in hot, it's Good Morning Football.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
Let's start the show.
Speaker 5 (00:42):
Maybe do it.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Good?
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Mom?
Speaker 4 (00:58):
Mom?
Speaker 2 (00:59):
All right, I don't want to start the show on
a downer. But this is my second time guest hosting
this show. Second time Monday, I was here and I
like to chat it up with everyone. I was having
computer issues before the show, and I drives and drabs
of conversations. I didn't realize that Kyle was a pickleball type.
I heard that in like the the ecosphere in my ear.
(01:19):
I just want to confirm Kyle, like, no, no ankle issues,
no shoulder issues.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
Correct, no, but just issues.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Is just being a boring, basic middle aged white dude.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
I played pickleball. I use an air fryer. I'm doing
intermittent fasting. It's just I'm sorry, guys.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Hand up, I am playing pickleball officially, and I really
like it.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
How is the drop shot?
Speaker 5 (01:40):
Though? Is your drop the change up for you is
at your curveball?
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Isaiah?
Speaker 6 (01:45):
You know, I mean I got no drop shot. It's
just out of power. I'm just blockeding that thing. I
have no nuance, no soft But my man, it's great
to have you guys all here. We have a hell
of a show today. I really mean, this is a
very good show.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Yeah, Jay, once again, a great having you studio.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
I know you've been on the show before, but now
all of a sudden, an opportunity for you to sit
on the table with us. Always appreciate that. But there
is some stuff to get to on the NFL side. Yeah,
and Aaron Rodgers, something tells me that this is going
to be a topic of conversation for an extended period
of time. That's still weird to me to see him
in that uniform. Get an opportunity to just sort of
(02:19):
find out what he's going to look like this upcoming
season with some of his new teammates.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
In fact, his former team is a Week eight matchup.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Got a little bit of juice there should say former team.
One of those other matchups, I should say Week one
is his former squad, the Packers has created a little
bit of a buzz. In fact, Matt Lafloor on facing
his old squad.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
That would be a Greig challenge for us.
Speaker 7 (02:39):
We all know what type of player he is and
how good he is, and I'm sure he'll be telling
everybody all our signals. So we'll have to, you know,
maybe play that mind game with him a little bit.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Right, Sometimes you can play a little bit of this
games with some of your former squads, all right. The
Steelers also take on, as I made reference to the
Jets in week number one, the Browns in week six yesterday,
Miles Garrett was talking all about looking forward to put
him in the graveyard. All those sacks that he continues
to rack up. There's a ton of buzz around Rodgers.
But Isaiah, I ask you, all of a sudden, this
Pittsburgh squad, they win a whole lot of games.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
But are they now, all of a sudden the villains
in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (03:17):
No, I don't.
Speaker 8 (03:17):
Understand why people even believe that these guys would be
the villains.
Speaker 5 (03:20):
I mean, Aaron Rodgers might be the villain he.
Speaker 8 (03:22):
Always has been for his entire career, just because he
always zeeks when everybody tries to get him to zag.
But no, the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to be just fine.
Mike Tomlin is one of the most respected guys in
the league. Nobody has any issues with him outside of
the fact that he hasn't won a many playoff games
as of late. Aaron Rodgers is that dude, and he
is now stepping into the forward to lead these guys
hopefully to playoffs success. But in terms of villains, no,
(03:44):
these guys have never been those people unless they find
a way to not give TJ. Watt a contract at
that point.
Speaker 9 (03:51):
Yeah, Isaiah, absolutely not. The Pittsburgh Steelers are not villains.
I mean when you look at Aaron Rodgers, I know
people get tired of the mantra and this or with
Aaron Rodgers, and to your point, he does things on
his own timeline. But looking at him at the press conference,
this was the most tippered I've seen aa Ron Right,
he wasn't snarky, didn't have any slot comments.
Speaker 5 (04:09):
Going back and forth.
Speaker 9 (04:10):
And then when you look at the Steelers team in totality,
this might be the most talent deficient offensive on the
offensive side that we've seen him. Yes, they have DK Metcalf,
but who's receiver number two? How are you going to
be villain this but we don't even know who receiver
number two is. And then we go to the defensive side.
This is the highest paid defense in all the NFL,
but yet they're still middle of the pack when you
(04:31):
talk about production wise, you see it right there, by
almost thirty million dollars.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
This defense is highly paid. You talked about it. TJ.
Speaker 9 (04:39):
Watt wants a new deal, so the number could go
even higher. So when you look at this team in totality,
they've struggled that defense at times making plays right now,
they're not really explosive on off. But that running back
is going to be running back by committee cause the
gang well is there. You got Jalen Warren. He also
took Hodges in the draft as well. So when you
look at this scenem they're absolutely not villainous.
Speaker 5 (04:59):
Right.
Speaker 9 (04:59):
The only thing is people just get tired and nambored
with Aaron Rodgers. But no way is this team villain this.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Listen, I'm with you. Would I would love to say, oh,
hell yeah, they're a villain. They got the black hat on.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Literally, and they're gonna torch the league and everyone's gonna
hate him.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
It's fun for the league.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
But if you can't stand Aaron Rodgers, you met up
in mine years ago. He hate Aaron Rodgers, God bless you,
and he's your villain. Fine, the Steelers to be a villain, guys,
you have to be all powerful. Don't show up at
nine and eight and tell me you're Hannibal Lecter Like.
There's nothing villainous about nine and eight and losing in
the wild card last year. If you want to say
the Chiefs are the villain, they're winning every single week.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
If you want to.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Say the Patriots used to be the villain.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
They would just blow towards the whole league.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
The Steelers are a middling team that are not Darth
Vader when they show up and go nine and eight.
I'll give you a contrarian. Take the team that's got
villain potential this year plays in the same state in
the eastern part of the Eagles have it. I mean,
the Eagles have the potential to be the villains. Listen,
they are going to run the ba Jesus out of
the tush push this year. They're going to do it
(06:03):
out of spite, want to do it against the teams
that voted against it. Nick Sirianni's ego is going to
be out of control.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
He probably was already. If you didn't like Zacht on
the sideline before, what do you think now that he
has a ring on a parade?
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Here's your first and ten, here's your second and eight.
It's guys, the Eagles, especially in the context of the
NFC East, where I think the Commanders are very likable.
The Giants, once they put Jackson Darden, will be likable,
even the Cowboys. The vibe that's coming off of Schottenheimer
feels fresh and light. I love what the Eagles stand for,
and I love that it's hate us because they aint us.
(06:35):
But if you're looking for a team to roll your
eyes about and hate this year and go, oh god,
these guys again, the best potential is the Eagles, It's
not the Steelers.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Kyle.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
I actually think it's a really good point because you
also look at the makeup of this roster and the
youth on this team. We might be seeing this Eagle
squad year in and year out over the next couple
campaigns doing exactly what you're talking about, a whole lot
of touch, push and not to mention, a whole lot
of wins. But I do think about this Aaron Rodgers story,
and there was so much attention around him when he
landed in New York.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
Justin Fields obviously is.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Going from Rogers's uh but well, I guess he used
to rock that steel If uniform and now all of
a sudden is rocking a uniform that's screen in New York.
Here's what he actually had to say about his current
squad and what we could expect from them this season.
Speaker 5 (07:21):
Kind of had a.
Speaker 10 (07:21):
Feeling when I got here. You know, guys were looking for,
you know, a leader to step up on offense. So
you know, I was glad to receive that role and
of course been you know, pushing the guys. He's in
every day to be our best and play up to
our standard.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Got you surprised by the comments from Justin Fields looking
for a leader?
Speaker 4 (07:41):
No, but I'm glad to hear it.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Listen, I feel like I'm classically trained as Justin Fields
as an NFL player, because not only might from Chicago,
but I used to go to Bears camp and I
would sit with Fields, and I would sit with Dj
Moore and we'd sit down and talk when he was
really green in the NFL and really.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
New, and he wasn't looking to be a leader. I
don't know if it was natural for him.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
He was looking to learn the game and make plays,
but there was nothing when you would sit with him.
We've all sat with different guys and the second they
sit down in that director's chair that oh wow, this
is a leader. This guy feels presidential. Justin Fields is quiet,
he's soft spoken. You might even say he's robotic at times,
but that's being unfair to.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
Him those years ago.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
This is a new guy on his third team now
who's running around in New York with a camera on
his head, and he's kind of like the face of
the team in a way. It's time for him to
be a leader because we like Aaron Glenn as much
as the next guy, and he's got the fire in Brimstone,
and it's great he's not out there making plays.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
And the fact that Fields is.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Replacing Rogers, who is just a couldn't be more of
a different player, person, generation.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Everything than him.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
It's time for Fields to step up and say something.
It's time for him to be on the field that
leading by example, not just keeping his mouth shut and
trying to make plays. That's young, Justin Fields. If you
want this third team to be your final team, you
got to be a leader, not just a player.
Speaker 9 (09:02):
Yeah, Kyle, to me, this is about the maturation of
Justin Fields. To your point, I talked to a lot
of people that followed him in Chicago and they said
he was quiet. He wasn't a row rod guy. And
when you look at what he went through in Chicago
his first years. After the second years, they were talking
about replacing him. So like, it's hard to be a
leader when you don't even know if you're going to
be in the building. Now he's been in the league
for a while, he's going to get into his fifth year.
(09:23):
Another thing that comes with leadership is confidence, right, and
he has that confidence because he has familiarity in this
locker with the New York Jets. Let's just look at
some of his teammates. Jarreck Wilson. We just saw some
highlights right there from the Jets of him throwing a
comeback right on the sideline, of him coming down with
the football. Jeremy Rutgers was another guy. He played with
Ohio State. The center Josh Myers was his center. So
(09:43):
he's going to feel a lot more comfortable in his
locker room even though it's his first year there, because
he's familiar with the players on this team. So confidence
and familiarity and then also the.
Speaker 5 (09:51):
Maturation his maturity is what helped him become a leader
this year. He's supposed to be the leader.
Speaker 8 (09:57):
He's coming into an organization that has not had consistent
leadership at the quarterback position. Who is that the low
and behold title holder of being the leader on the
offense side of the ball. Quarterbacks are the leaders of
the offense and pretty much of the team. So when
you look at a quarterback coming into your new or
to that organization, yeah, I'm gonna step into that role
and I'm gonna say yeah, everybody needs to look towards me.
(10:18):
It is my responsibility to lead you guys to the
promised Land. Looking back at their history, they had Aaron Rodgers,
he was there for a year, Zach Wilson, right, Sam
Darnold was there for a handful of years, Josh mccowfev
Ryan Fitzpatrick, you go all the way back until freaking
who was it.
Speaker 5 (10:33):
I don't even remember it.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
I don't know a.
Speaker 5 (10:35):
Freaking John Santas. Joe name is the last one that
generally right put your name on.
Speaker 8 (10:40):
You know, Pennington was there for a while, but they
haven't had a quarterback to be consistent there for more
than three years in a very long time. So they
are looking for leadership on the offense side of the ball,
and he's hoping with this new opportunity as a young player,
that he can be that guy for the foreseeable future.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
Yeah, longest playoff track that we have in the NFL.
I would say this because you guys are talking about
these leadership qualities.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Isaiah just wrought.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
You just rattled off a bunch of names, all different quarterbacks,
different types of personalities, and Kyle, I know you said, hey,
I think you might have said like that ra Ra
or Lejay might have been you.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
Doesn't it simply come down to win some games?
Speaker 2 (11:12):
And look if they are winning some of those games, Kyle, like,
clearly Justin's a big going to be a big part
of that, and you sort of get that crown as
a leader just based off of that, right, no.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Doubt, especially for this team that hasn't won anything, it's
weird to go to the juxtaposition from Pittsburgh last year,
where you're supposed to.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
Win every single year and they do.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Now coming here, I would just I'm gonna look at
it this way, Isaiah. I'm going to put you on
the spot and everybody else can weigh into this year.
I'm going to slide an envelope across the table to
the New York Jets and their fans, and you can take.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
This deal or not. All right, if I slide.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
An envelope across the table and it's a deal that
says eight and nine, eight and nine, this year, you
do some good things, you make some positive steps. Are
you taking that deal or sliding it back across the table.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
I'm taking it.
Speaker 8 (11:58):
I'm taking it all day because you're making a giant
leap forward in terms of the direction in what you're
trying to go. Understand that Aaron Glen is stepping into
the fold, trying to create a new culture. He's trying
to put the jets back on the train tracks. They
haven't been on the train tracks for a minute. They've
been they've been loop a fiasco kick pushing it on
the scooter next to the train tracks for.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
A long time.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
Yeah, yeah, Isaiah, Yeah, seven and ten, seven and ten,
I'm sliding back across the taibl Remember last year they
were five and twelve.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
What do you what do you guys think?
Speaker 5 (12:24):
I think they'll take it. I think they'll take it.
Speaker 8 (12:26):
I don't think they won it, but I think six
and eleven.
Speaker 9 (12:29):
No, no, no, I don't think they'll tell you that
too far. Honestly, it comes down in Aaron Glenn and
spoke about this right building a culture, and he says
culture begins with the people in the locker room. So
they're just trying to get the right mindset and the
right people in this locker room to believe in something,
to try to turn things around like he did when
he was in Detroit. Let's not forget the track was
like the bottom feeders of the NFL and.
Speaker 5 (12:50):
Going against Aaron Glenn's second year.
Speaker 9 (12:51):
I believe they started the season one and eight and
the team could have turned on you know what, Isaiah,
Like when you start off one and seven, one and five,
the teams can turn on you. But they stuck together.
They turned things around, and then they went on a
winning streak of like six or seven games, and then
the next that's when they were relevant in the NFL.
So I hear Kyle sang, would you take eight to nine,
seven to ten to me?
Speaker 5 (13:10):
Right now?
Speaker 9 (13:10):
This season is all about setting the right culture. And
then also to your point, Isaiah, can they find their
quarterback in the future?
Speaker 5 (13:16):
Is Justin Fields?
Speaker 4 (13:17):
That guy?
Speaker 9 (13:18):
If you win seven games, if you win eight games,
but you feel like the culture is starting to turn,
and Justin Fields does some good things. I think you're
heading in the right direction.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
All rational takes that all of you guys have, And Kyle,
I don't know where you stand on this. If you
were taking that envelope or pushing it back. The reality
is go talk to the fans in New York. The
Giants haven't been winning, the Jets haven't been winning. This
is an organization that went all in two seasons ago
when they brought Aaron Rodgers, and we know what happened.
He didn't obviously play, he was banged up. But even
(13:47):
last year when they were struggling, they traded for Devontae Adams.
This team is not expecting to just have like a
culture recent rebuild that's almost understood with the addition of
Aaron Glenn. This is a team that's got to be
thinking about the postseason. It has been way too long
for that city not to have a playoff team, and
the Jets once again longest playoff drop.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
Maybe in North American sports.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
If I'm if I'm not mistaken, this team needs to
go and get it done.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
That's just But hey, the knixt one the conference semi
finals and they held Marty Grown Manhattan, So good for them, guys.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
The New York.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
When the Knicks are rolling man that city is is
a basketball town.
Speaker 11 (14:29):
Were play game.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
It's called NFL Mystery Mom, this is the best game
we've ever had on GUMFP.
Speaker 12 (14:35):
Hello, don't say do people say that your son looks
like you?
Speaker 2 (14:41):
Yes, we are about to invite a new friend.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
Hello, mom, how are you a NFC? NFC Okay, here
we go. Is your son a rookie. Yes, oh that's big.
Speaker 5 (14:53):
Is your son Matthew Golden?
Speaker 8 (14:55):
No?
Speaker 4 (14:57):
Sure early? Are you guys complaing with me taking a shot?
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Is your son's name Quinn Shawn Judkins?
Speaker 11 (15:02):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (15:07):
Are you Baron Crell's mom?
Speaker 8 (15:09):
Yes, it was really scary.
Speaker 6 (15:17):
You knew the answers.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
That was so fun.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
That was last month for Mother's Day and we had
a lot of fun. We brought on some moms and
had to guess who their son was. We're gonna flip
it now because it's Father's Day this weekend. Happy father
is to all you dads out there and the dads
we have here. But what we're gonna do now is
we're going to bring in the son or daughter of
an NFL figure. We don't know who this is. We
don't know who the figure is, we don't know who
(15:41):
the guest is. And we're going to ask this son
or daughter questions and try to figure out who their
NFL father is. Let's get after it. We're totally unprepared.
This is from the hip. Bring in the son or daughter,
let's see who we have. Bring it up and NFL
mystery dad. All right, you have a young lady, Good morning,
(16:02):
How are you good morning?
Speaker 11 (16:04):
I'm great? How are you?
Speaker 5 (16:05):
Guys?
Speaker 4 (16:07):
Excited, nervous, confused?
Speaker 1 (16:10):
Just set the table and tell us and tell everybody
your first name only.
Speaker 11 (16:15):
Yes, my name is Alison. That's all I told me
to say.
Speaker 4 (16:18):
Okay, guys, this is Alison.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Say hello, I have a guest.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
All right, Alison.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
We're going to start asking you questions there they're yes
or no questions mostly, but we're going to try, based
on your answers to guess who your father is. I
will start is your dad currently working within the NFL?
Speaker 5 (16:39):
Or retired?
Speaker 11 (16:40):
Currently working?
Speaker 13 (16:42):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (16:42):
Active?
Speaker 4 (16:43):
All right, go ahead, you guys, Okay, okay?
Speaker 3 (16:46):
Is your dad Alison? A player?
Speaker 4 (16:50):
No? Oh? Okay, I hope it's not a trainer. This
is going to take a long time.
Speaker 5 (16:57):
Okay, what college did your dad?
Speaker 14 (17:01):
It's in oh Miami of Ohio.
Speaker 5 (17:06):
Mac man.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
Okay, okay, all right?
Speaker 8 (17:11):
What color is the first the primary color for the
organization that.
Speaker 5 (17:14):
Your dad is with.
Speaker 11 (17:16):
Let's can give it away. Purple.
Speaker 4 (17:20):
Purple.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
All right, guys, So we still don't know what what
her dad's position is in terms of the title, but
purple means it's possibly a Viking.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
And that jumps up there Ravens have some purple.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Okay, is is your is your dad A?
Speaker 4 (17:39):
Is your dad a head coach?
Speaker 11 (17:41):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Okay, all right, anybody want to have a guess?
Speaker 13 (17:48):
John Haball Yes, yeah, I love this.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
By the way, I think it nice. Yeah, we actually
let's connect.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
We got this faster than I thought we were going
to get it. John, once again, I appreciate you, you
coming on with us and being a part of a
fun little game for us.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
And Allison, well done on the clues and clearly we
needed some of that help to figure figure this out.
Speaker 4 (18:26):
All right.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
By the way, John, Allison, is your daughter best gift
that she's given you on Father's Day?
Speaker 3 (18:34):
This is the theme.
Speaker 12 (18:35):
Well, she we usually work out like what you was
playing lacrosse up until this past This will be the
first Father's Day because she didn't play lacrosse and she
was eight years old. You used to be out in
the front yard. She'd be taking me to school. So
the best gift she gave me was was beating me
like a drum while trying to play defense, which made
(18:56):
me happy.
Speaker 5 (18:56):
It made me very happy.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
That's all that. Man.
Speaker 5 (18:59):
Coach. Is good to see you out here, man, but this.
Speaker 8 (19:01):
Is for your daughter, Alison, and coach you can chime
in on as if you want to, did coach ever
coach you up during your time growing up as an athlete?
And if so, what were some of those main pointers
that he gave you?
Speaker 11 (19:13):
Oh my gosh, so many great things.
Speaker 14 (19:15):
Well, I played lacrosse in college, but I couldn't take
his coaching points seriously until he actually called it a stick.
It was a lacrosse racket for a very long time,
you can get right.
Speaker 8 (19:29):
So you're looking at here in these pictures, Yeah, what's
coaching stick skills?
Speaker 11 (19:33):
Like, you know what, It's not bad. It's improved over
the years.
Speaker 14 (19:37):
It used to be a baseball met He would throw
it with me and I would have the stick. But
he's one on one defender. Man, he's bigger than all
the girls I faced, So like, you know, of no problem.
So he's always in the yard with me giving me
different athletic coaching points and mental game skills, all the above.
Speaker 11 (19:55):
He's just been such a great coach and dad throughout
the years.
Speaker 5 (19:58):
That's dope. So coach just questions for Allison.
Speaker 9 (20:00):
Again, the Hawbaugh family is obviously royalty in the NFL.
But Alison, I want to know from you family get
togethers when they're sporting events, how intense does it get.
Speaker 14 (20:11):
It's probably wrong what we would think pretty intense no
matter it starts out friendly, and then I feel like somehow,
no matter what we're doing, we always end up measuring
our heights and our wings fans and seeing like circumference,
really weird stuff.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
I got to hear your thoughts on that. Is that true?
Speaker 12 (20:32):
Well, yeah, I know if I really want to admit
that or not.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
But like, you can't always play a game.
Speaker 12 (20:38):
I mean sometimes you just you know, you're somewhere where
you're you're at an event, or you're at home, or
it's just dinner time, and you know, all you have
is a tape measure, you know, so there's there's got
to be some sort of a competition of some sort.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
Well to that point, John, take me back, take me
back to when you were growing up and Father's Day,
you and Jim and your dad, Like, what was Father's
Day like back then in the Harbaugh family.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
Yeah, it's a great question.
Speaker 12 (21:04):
You know, It's like Father's Day never got quite the
same level of acknowledgement maybe as Mother's Day.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
Mom Mother's Day.
Speaker 12 (21:14):
Was big Father's Day was no, we're gonna we gotta
go do something. I one thing I do remember really
well because my mom was really awesome about Father's Day
was gonna be a big breakfast. You know, we're normally
a cereal you know, and we like, we didn't have
the great cereal. You know, we had the wheaties, we
had the curios.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
We didn't go to our friend's house.
Speaker 12 (21:34):
You know, it's the fruit loops, it's the it's the
Captain crunch. But it would be like bacon, you know,
you'd get pancakes, you get some eggs. Father's Day was
it was a nice Sunday morning breakfast.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
I remember that. Yeah, I think that's awesome.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
Can only imagine that being the case, Alison. You know,
because we're talking about family, and obviously you're on because
father is Father's Day weekend. But in the same time,
and I think about my family and you know, my
aunts and uncles around Mother's Day and Father's Day and
how significant that is for all of us. What's it
like for you to watch your dad go up against
your uncle on the sidelines, like you know, we see
those family jerseys where they're split when there's family, you know,
(22:13):
on both sides like do you have one of those
jerseys or is just allegiance to Dad no matter what?
Speaker 11 (22:18):
Oh my gosh, I should get one of those jerseys.
Such a great idea. It's definitely I'm very grateful.
Speaker 14 (22:24):
I mean, it's amazing to watch both of them just
compete at the highest level. It's such a hard thing
to get this hig of a the NFL let alone too,
you know, brothers.
Speaker 11 (22:32):
But it's definitely like has its ups and downs.
Speaker 14 (22:34):
I mean, you know, the Super Bowl, you know, it
was amazing, but at the same time, it was hard
because the family was split and we couldn't support each other,
you know, like we would have wanted to. But gosh,
I'm just so proud of everybody. It's you know, NFL
ups and downs, but just so grateful for what they've
been doing when I get to see them do.
Speaker 9 (22:53):
This next question is for coach coaches, Guys have a
great family model? Who's got it better than us? At
what age did you teach Alison this model? And then
I actually want her to follow up? Do you plan
on passing that model down to your kids?
Speaker 12 (23:08):
That's a great question. I'll tell you what, man, who
has it better than us? I would say, just as
long as as she's been around, she probably just heard.
I don't think there was a moment, you know, she
probably learned it kind of like from birth, you.
Speaker 5 (23:22):
Know pretty much.
Speaker 12 (23:23):
That's one of the first phrases she I don't know
when you first uttered it exactly, but she always knew
the answer. The answer is always clear. You know who's
got it better than us? I know the answer to
that one. Alison always knew the answer that one.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
What's the answer? You got to say it the right
way too.
Speaker 5 (23:40):
With Grandpa Jack.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
You can't be nobody.
Speaker 12 (23:42):
You can't be Nobody's got to be enthusiastically drawn out.
Speaker 5 (23:46):
No, I love it.
Speaker 8 (23:51):
I love it all right, Allison, Listen, families are are
a lot of times they don't get the attention when
it comes to being, you know, daughters or family members
of head coaches in the league. Y'all are are true superheroes, right,
like serious, all the respect in the world because it's
hard being a family member of a head coach.
Speaker 5 (24:08):
But we want to know from you.
Speaker 8 (24:09):
Your dad's going into his eighteenth year in the league.
What was it like growing up as a daughter of
a head coach in the NFL?
Speaker 11 (24:17):
Yeah, we got here in two thousand and eight.
Speaker 14 (24:19):
I was in first grade, so I think I learned
really fast and this was a really big deal.
Speaker 11 (24:23):
I was like, Wow, it's really all on him as
the head coach. Sometimes.
Speaker 14 (24:27):
I remember like going into school Monday morning after a
loss on Sunday, Like I was like, Mom, please.
Speaker 11 (24:33):
Don't make me go to school, Like who's going to
be the first kid to say something?
Speaker 14 (24:36):
You know, And it was tough, but my mom gave
me some great advice like just keep your head held
high or proud of your dad and what he's done.
And you know, there's tough moments like that, but gosh,
it's just all glory to God with where he's brought
us and all the amazing moments we've had because of it.
Speaker 5 (24:53):
Too.
Speaker 14 (24:53):
It's brought our family really close together, our extended family, man,
just my parents, and I absolutely that's awesome.
Speaker 5 (25:01):
John.
Speaker 4 (25:01):
What's it like to listen to that makes me proud?
Makes me happy? You know, it's I think everybody. Everybody's
path is different.
Speaker 12 (25:09):
You know, Man makes his plans, but God orders our steps,
and these are the steps that God has ordered for us,
and you try to kind of understand the reason, and
life is best understood in reverse, right, you kind of
look back and starts to make sense to you. And
I see Alison and the young woman that she's become,
and and the things that she's gone through and and
and her adversities have been different than other people's diversities
(25:31):
and her her great moments have been different, but they've
been hers and unique to her, and she's handled them
in the greatest way she could. Uh, and in her way,
you know, And and it's been nothing but success and
a blessing to people.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (25:42):
You know that's a dad talking, right. I mean, that's
she makes me proud every single day. And uh and
she's going to law school next year at Loyal in Chicago.
Speaker 5 (25:51):
That'll be our next step.
Speaker 12 (25:52):
So it's pretty awesome, pretty awesome.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
As a dad, I'm tearing up over that. This is
really really nice.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
All Right, We're gonna just end with two short ones
to Alison. First of all, Alison, I need to follow
up on what your dad was saying earlier about his childhood.
Do you guys did you guys growing up in your house?
Speaker 4 (26:09):
Did you have the good cereals we did? Yeah? I
love that.
Speaker 11 (26:17):
My favorite what was your favorite lucky charms?
Speaker 10 (26:21):
I like.
Speaker 5 (26:24):
Strong choice choice.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
We know Father's Day is Sunday, and Father's Day can
be a little bit more low key than Mother's Day.
But you have this really unique opportunity that your dad
is sitting here with us, all of us on live
television and Good Morning Football. What do you want to
say to your dad, John for about what he means
to you?
Speaker 14 (26:41):
Oh my gosh, I don't know if I can follow
up what he said, but Mom and I are so
proud of him. I'm the only child, so the three
of us are just so close, and he's just been
the greatest dad through my whether it's athletic career, you know,
helping me through all the highs and lows of that, and.
Speaker 11 (26:56):
Coaching me and just always being there for me.
Speaker 14 (26:58):
You never missed a game this season, and not only that,
but just in my life. He always has so much wisdom,
the best advice, just lives out his faith every single day.
And I look up to him so much for that.
And we're best friends, and you know, there's no one
I'd rather be with than you and Mom. So Happy
Father's Day.
Speaker 11 (27:16):
I love you.
Speaker 5 (27:18):
I love that man, love it.
Speaker 4 (27:21):
We love the Horrorball guys, And for this Father's Day.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Let's do it all together with the right gusto on
Father's Day.
Speaker 4 (27:28):
Who's got it better than us? No, no jo, thank
you so much. Happy Father's Day.
Speaker 12 (27:38):
Appreciate you guys, Thank you.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
Coach, Thank you all.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
Good morning football with our friend. Was a us a
ball here?
Speaker 2 (27:49):
Which time to play a little bit of a game
dousible or delusional wordplay? I'll present three possibilities.
Speaker 5 (27:56):
You know you like that.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
Present three possibility when it comes in.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
When it comes to coming up with like slippery fun
little segment names.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
Like doole delusional. This show is sixty minutes. It's the
greatest show of all time. Nobody does it.
Speaker 5 (28:08):
Better than us.
Speaker 4 (28:09):
Could not agree with you more.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
We have this working document.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
I'm always in awe of the titles that our team
is coming up with.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
I'm like, damn, that's actually pretty creative.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
No, I couldn't come up with it. So here's how
the game is going to go. I'll present three possibilities.
You decide, all three of you guys will decide if
it's doable or delusional. There's like one person at home,
go oh doable?
Speaker 3 (28:28):
Now, I get it. You're up earlier. I get it
all right.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
First up, wide receiver Devonte Adams. This is he at
work with his new team in Los Angeles miniicamp this week.
Talked about the different vibes with the Rams compared to
some of the other previous organizations he's played for.
Speaker 15 (28:45):
It took a little bit more time for me to
get integrated into, you know, the Jets theme than it was,
you know, getting here, and I knew a lot more
to gods on the team. Even so it kind of
just depends and a lot of that probably had to
do me going halfway through the season. Wasn't wasn't word
this time where we have as much time together, you know,
to kind of be away from ball as well.
Speaker 4 (29:02):
But this is gonna be different.
Speaker 15 (29:05):
But I just I feel like this is what I needed,
just based off the vibe and the aura of the
of the of the building and everybody's in a, you know,
a good mood.
Speaker 5 (29:12):
It's not like.
Speaker 15 (29:13):
A you know, a dark cloud over the building. And
I've I've experienced that quite a bit over the last
few years. So it's a glaring difference when you come
into a building like this.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
Yeah, Jay, it was like, oh yeah, yeah, tell us
how you really feel.
Speaker 5 (29:24):
Tovonte bringing a little bit of heat.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
Yeah, all right, Isaiah, I will start with you here.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Vante Adams a bigger impact than Puka nakuadusible or delusional.
Speaker 5 (29:34):
I'm gonna say dousible. Oh it was fun. This is why,
because most.
Speaker 8 (29:37):
People out at home are gonna pull up the stats, right,
They're gonna pull up the stat line.
Speaker 5 (29:41):
They're gonna say, well.
Speaker 8 (29:42):
Look how many yards poking the court he gets and receiving. Okay,
I hear you, and I respect that. But that's why
stats accentuate your facts, right. And this is the fact,
the fact that DeVante Adams is still one of the
most respective receivers in this league, and he scores touchdowns.
Speaker 5 (29:55):
Right.
Speaker 8 (29:55):
When you score touchdowns, you have the greatest impact on
opposing defense. So they have to play a safety over
the top. They have to make sure that they have
one or two guy watching you. They backed the defense off.
So it not only does it improve of Pookum Nikoua,
who is a possession receiver, right, Pooking Nicola obviously only
played eleven games last year, three touchdowns. A year before that,
as Ricky Year scored six touchdowns.
Speaker 5 (30:16):
He's a possessional receiver. He catches the ball.
Speaker 8 (30:18):
He does good things, he makes first downs, But what
else is the Devontie Adam's going to do. He's going
to back these guys off. He's gonna have a lower
number in the box. He's going to approve the running
game that was ranked twenty fourth in the league last year.
So maybe he won't have as many yards as Puking Nicour,
but he's definitely gonna have the greatest impact between the two.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
You know what you gotta do after an analysis like that, Isaiah,
you got to.
Speaker 4 (30:41):
Pull up the stats. I'll just say the stats right now.
It's that simple, all right.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Young Poka Nakua in his very young career has played
twenty eight games. He has one hundred and eighty four
damn catches that he goes for almost seven catches a game.
And I think you just totally slurred to Isaiah. You
said possession receiver like five times like that. That is
a lot of time to say possession receiver. This possessi
receiver went for fourteen yards of catch last year. I
(31:07):
mean this, He is really really good. And it's no
disrespect to DeVante. DeVante's legend. I think Pooka is still
going up. I do not think he's ad his ceiling.
I think they've found something truly, truly special in that draft.
I don't think he's played his best football.
Speaker 4 (31:22):
I think he's still sticking.
Speaker 1 (31:23):
With Stafford and he's going to be even better now
with DeVante.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
I think it's Puka.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
He's one of my favorite players in the league, and
I just think he's about to have another monster year
and I hope he stays healthy.
Speaker 9 (31:31):
So I guess I'm the tie breaker when it comes
down to us. And to me, it's delusional to think
that DeVante Adams is going to have a bigger impact
than pookin the cool and to Colle's point, this is
no disrespect to Devonte Adams. To me, he's one of
the greatest and one mixtape release receivers in football. And
if you don't get that reference, go ahead and go
with YouTube. Put in it one, put in a professor,
(31:53):
put in the hot salt, because there's not a better
separator the last decade in the NFL than DeVante Adams.
But Father Time is undefeated. He's gonna turn thirty three
this year. Now, speed was never his game, but he
hasn't been as fast to costpoint, we look at Pooka
Nakua two years already.
Speaker 5 (32:09):
With Matt Stafford. This is his third year. The camaraderie
has already built up.
Speaker 9 (32:12):
In just eleven games last year he had almost eight
thousand yards and to double down on that, he had
one hundred and eight targets in eleven games, which would
have put him top thirty in the league as far
as targets in the NFL with missing six games.
Speaker 5 (32:27):
So that lets you know how much faith Matt Stafford
has in this guy.
Speaker 9 (32:31):
He's going to be his go to guy. Already was
even with Cooper Cup being there. He had become the
number one receiver. And to cost point, he's not just
a possive receiver. Look at some of these catches on
the sideline. Shout out to my guynate brothers and toe
drags swag right there.
Speaker 5 (32:43):
But he's one of the best.
Speaker 9 (32:45):
Yard after catch receivers in football. He essentially turned into
a running back. He's hard to bring down. He will
have a bigger impact than Davonte Adams.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
Two things to unpack here.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
Number one, to La Jay's point, the and one mixtape.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
Doc got to go and watch it YouTuber.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
And number two, I think Kyle hit the nail on
the head here with your you were sort of giving
off a little bit of like game manager quarterback vibes
when you're.
Speaker 8 (33:08):
Just it felt like that a lot of people here
when they hear possession receiver, they look at it like it'
said negative term. That is not a negative term, right,
A possession receiver somebody that I could care no, no, no,
somebody that I can count on all the time to
maybe make sure I get the first down.
Speaker 5 (33:27):
That's what I'm looking for.
Speaker 8 (33:28):
I'm just saying that he's not the over the top
guy that necessarily think about demonte Adam is going to
back off that defense and Pooka is going to.
Speaker 5 (33:34):
Continue to do what he's been doing.
Speaker 9 (33:35):
I'm so glad was brought that game manager with quarterback
because some of the things like a bad connotation with
the game manager a term when you talk about quarterbacks.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
Yeah, speaking it's like saying that, like skip to my
Lou is just a ball distributor.
Speaker 7 (33:50):
He was.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
Amazing, crushing for me to in a lot of fantasy.
That's a conversation for another time and certainly a different show.
Speaker 3 (34:02):
New York Giants.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
Speaking of quarterbacks, I don't know runna call Russ at
this point in his career.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
Game manager, he.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
And Jamis Wilson in that quarterback room. Also, though the
team moves to go and get Jackson.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
Dark All signs though, pointing at Russ being the QB one.
Is it dosible or delusional.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
That Russ will remain the starting quarterback for the entire season?
Speaker 8 (34:23):
Isaya is dousible as long as he stays healthy. I'm
not sure if that old line's gonna be able to
stand up there and make sure that he's protected. Russell
Wilson's still a productive quarterback in this league. Let's not
get that mixed up. And obviously Father Time is undefeated,
like you said, but if they can establish a running
game and if they can protect him, Russell Wilson's gonna
get first downs for these guys. That's just what he does.
He's going to give Elie Neighbors opportunity to make big
(34:45):
plays because he has in the moon ball that drops
in there. He's a very accurate quarterback in that reguard,
Russell Wilson starts messing up and starts being a turnover
magnet whenever he doesn't have to win, he has to
start creating, right if he has to create then that
that element of his game is necessary has gone away. Right,
That's where father time is taken over. But if you
give him time and you give him a running game,
this dude is.
Speaker 5 (35:04):
Going to to go out there and put some points
on the board.
Speaker 9 (35:06):
Isaia, I heard a lot of ifs there, And that's
the question mark. When you come to the New York Giants,
I think it's delusional.
Speaker 5 (35:12):
First and foremost. Let's go into their schedule.
Speaker 9 (35:14):
The NFL schedule makers did them no favors. They have
the hardest strength to schedule in the NFL, and this
is a rebuilding team. They're trying to refortify that offensive line.
They have some of the similar pass weapons on the outside,
and to your point Yams, they took a young quarterback
in the first round. Let's not forget what their owner
John Marras said at the end of the season. He's like,
I better be in a better mood than I am
(35:35):
right now this time at the end of the season
next year in regards to the GM and head coach
potentially being under fire for their jobs this year. So
if you're looking at it, you're Brian Dable, right, You're
Joe Shane you're going to lean on the young quarterback
if things start going left early, because say Jackson Dark
goes out there and looks respectable, you could potentially hold
on to your job. So I just think it's delusional
(35:58):
that Russell Wilson is going to keep this job for
the entire season one because the head coach in GM
on the but two, the strength of schedule is a
gauntlet for the Giants.
Speaker 4 (36:10):
I'm just going to use this topic to tell a story. Guys,
you got to hear this.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
So about two weeks ago, I think it was almost
exactly two weeks ago, my wife and I went to
a concert.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
I'm here in New York. I went to city Field,
where the Mets play.
Speaker 1 (36:22):
We went to go see post Malone post Malone with
Jelly Roll opening.
Speaker 4 (36:26):
Okay, it's a really.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
Really eclectic crowd because post Malone does does hip hop
and he does country and he does rock, and there's
all these all different kinds of people.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
It's really really cool.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
First we walk into Cityfield, we scan our tickets, we
walk in within five seconds.
Speaker 4 (36:42):
I'm not exaggerating.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
The first human being I see when I walk in
is Brian Dable.
Speaker 4 (36:47):
I'm not kidding coach Dable was there.
Speaker 1 (36:49):
He was there with his family and his wife and
they just having the greatest time. There's a I think
it was a Thursday night, maybe a Friday night. I
started chatting them up because we know each other a
little bit. He knows the show and he loves Angry
Runs and blah blah, so we definite. He talked a
lot of cam skataboo, but we talked a lot of
things that aren't going to be on the air and
keep the private and everything. But I walked away from
(37:11):
him being that he is very, very excited about about
Russell Wilson, really exciting like that he thinks he has
this pro this this Hall of Fame level guy that
he has like an executive in the building who is
so trustable and dependable, and it's just seen everything. I
don't know if he's going to start the whole year,
but I know that Brian Dable is squarely behind Russell
(37:32):
Wilson and loves him. And I just came away with
the impression he's so excited for this year, and I'll
tell the story. I wish I had a picture, but
I don't take pictures with public figures, especially if.
Speaker 4 (37:41):
They're out a post malone.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
Plus I was on like a different planet, so the
picture wouldn't come out right. But Kge Coach Dable was
amazing to see and I know he's very fired up.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
Hey, how was the concert.
Speaker 4 (37:50):
Oh, it's so good. It's it's it's like the post Malone.
Speaker 1 (37:56):
If you know him at all, like he's he's really
all over the map in a really good way, but
an incredible live singer. He does this mix of like,
oh my god, I've heard that song one thousand times,
my kids know that song. I like this song. My
wife loves country, so she's into that. I'm singing circles
the pop stuff. He appears to be imbibing for the
entire concert out of a solo cup. I don't know
how he's still standing, but is a very contagious vibe.
(38:17):
And jelly Roll, if you have a chance to see
jelly Roll, is so cool and so fun and you
will love him by the end of the set, even
if you've never heard any of his music.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
Awesome.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
By the way, jelly Roll is going to be out
here in Los Angeles. I was actually looking at concerts
the other Oay, that's why I see him. I ask okay,
that's a good little mental note. By the way, what
I learned from this segment is it's so good that
we're going to continue it, and isay you you're a
little de Lulu at this point.
