Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
What's up, everybody?
Speaker 3 (00:11):
This is Good Morning Football, present of by Old Chapper
Beef Jurkey.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
But you knew that already.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
If you found us here on a Thursday, October second, Jamie,
you're at all sitting alongside as always my favorite.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Linebacker at VIL History Mantio.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Mike Garafalo is joining Kyle Brandt in New York City.
Kyle Khalif Raymond's coming on the show this hour. Plus
we have to check in with some friends we have
in London.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
What else we got?
Speaker 4 (00:35):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Oh no, you're gonna swim with.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Rina and kind of talk about football. But but what
if someone came in and do you want the job? Okay? No,
I think we're supposed to just start the show.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Okay, now this could go on forever. Welcome to Good
Morning Football Presented Viable Trapper.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
I don't know what you're talking about.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
That's not the dream doing television, as Kyle Brandt him
just mining and not using any words.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Jamie, Manti, Mike g and Kyle Kyle, why don't.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
You explain to those who are not into Cleveland Brown's
media availability in the locker room in the last twenty
four hours. Why you were having such behavior to start
our show.
Speaker 5 (01:27):
I don't want to explain.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
I want of mine for the whole show. It's awesome, awesome.
I think Sador's onto something. I really enjoyed that last
thirty second.
Speaker 6 (01:35):
I didn't think it would just be a cold open
type thing. I thought you were going for the full
two hours.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Yea, I was going to And then you know what,
you know who I sympathize with. I sympathize with the
crew there in Los Angeles and the audio people who
just all right, if you didn't see or I guess
you'd have to see because you couldn't hear. The Browns
announced that Dylan Gabriel, the rookie, would be their starting
quarterback this weekend. Joe Flacca will be the quarterback two,
and Shader Sanders will be the quarterback three. Asked for
(02:02):
his comments on being the quarterback three, Chador had none,
and he just sat there and mined in the locker room.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
I mean, I really mean mime.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Like one of these people with the white and black
makeup and the rows in their mouth or whatever, didn't speak,
didn't do any of that. And we will get into
it this show and as everybody else, and we'll get
into it. We'll get into the Browns, We'll get into Miming.
I have thoughts in general on Mimest, but Brown's quarterbacks.
Speaker 5 (02:25):
It will not include Shador Sanders.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
It wouldn't be a topic in the NFL if we
didn't have takes about the player, how they acted. But
then also Kyle's just general opinion about it, someone's profession
out on the street.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
So we got to get to all of this.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
It's not good, all right, So Thursday night football something
to look forward to. But also we've been watching the
Commanders and how they have navigated life without their quarterback
for the last couple of weeks. Ian Rappaport joining us
now our NFL Network insider rap sheet. Is there good
news on the horizon for the franchise quarterback out of DC.
Speaker 7 (02:53):
I know you always think, Jamie that I bring the
bad news, and I'm kind of downer today is good,
at least for the early part of my response. I
could have I could have just done this the same
if you mind at her, if you say.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
It comes up, Jon Daniels thumbs up.
Speaker 7 (03:09):
I mean right, So thumbs up for Dade Daniels. He
has officially been cleared by doctor after missing two games
with a knee spring. Marcus Mariota went one and one,
certainly had his moments looked like more than capable of
a backup quarterback. But it is time to get Jayden
Daniels back in there. With Dan Quinn telling reporters yesterday,
Jaden is good to go. He was a full participant
(03:30):
in practice. He is going to play on Sunday, and
really what the commanders did listen to the doctors take
their time, make sure he was fully healthy, not rushing
him out on the field. And now when Jade Daniels
plays this week after missing two games, they get the
full pack. Now there are some other teams that may
not have their quarterback for their next game. We'll start
(03:51):
with the Baltimore Ravens of Lamar Jackson. Lamar did not
practice yesterday dealing with a hamstring injury. The same Hampson
hampstring injury then robbed him of finishing the game last
Sunday in a rough, rough loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
I think it's fair to say this for Sunday is
very much up in the air. When a starting quarterback
doesn't get on the field Wednesday of a game week,
often that indicates he is not going to play. A
(04:13):
Lamar wants to play, so we will see where this
takes us. Cooper Rush is the backup quarterback for the Ravens.
And then, speaking of quarterbacks not being out in the field,
the San Francisco forty nine Ers played tonight. They played
the Rams. They are not going to have Rock Purdy.
He has already been ruled out with the same turf
toe that he was dealing with before. Remember he missed
(04:34):
two games. It was two to five weeks. He played
in that third week, came back on Monday and reported
to Kyle Shanahan and the forty nine ers doctors that
he was sure and he was not going to be
able to practice. Didn't practice at all this week. Mac
Jones gets start number three, and man, that is not all.
Juwan Jennings dealing with an ankle and rib injury, he's
(04:55):
not gonna play. Ricky Pearsall dealing with the knee injury,
He's not gonna play. George Kittle is already out. It
is going to be some other guy for the forty
nine ers.
Speaker 5 (05:05):
Tonight.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
What a technical term for the second and third guys
on the depth chart some other guys, rap Sheet, really quick,
What you're saying about rock Perty is just mind boggling
to me for a lot of reasons, but one of
which is the quarterback he's going up against tonight. Isn't
it crazy to think, like six weeks ago we were
really really close to panicking about Matthew Stafford, and now
they're going to play tonight and Stafford's just been totally fine.
Right This back thing has not emerged whatsoever in the
(05:27):
regular season.
Speaker 7 (05:28):
It is not, but if it does tonight, you are
for sure going to be to blame for absolutely jinxing him.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
That's a thumbs down.
Speaker 7 (05:36):
That is a big thumbs down right here. Well, we
spent a lot of time talking to the off season
about Matthew Stafford's back. As of right now, this very minute,
it has not been an issue. The injuries are the
worst they come whenever. So if you're the Rams you
have a late thirties quarterback, you have crossed your fingers
and watching them work.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Rap Sheet, thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
As you mentioned, there are some other dudes on the
field for Thursday Night Football and one of those young
guys is just the electric linebacker for the Rams, Jared Verse.
He likes to get in the opposition's head, but when
he was asked about his game plan facing legendary Niners
left tackle an eleven time Pro bowler Trent Williams, and
tonight's NFC West showdown, Jared First took a different path.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
Take a listen, I don't lie down for anybody. I
don't change up how I am for anybody. Ball So
I am not, you know, dumb, like I'd rather let
them sleeping giant sleep like I'm not gonna wake up
nobody does, you know? Minded their business? Like, especially somebody
late that.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
He is a wise young man.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Mike girra Fullo, what are you watching in tonight's NFC
West matchup on Thursday Night Football?
Speaker 5 (06:38):
Yeah, this is a banged up forty nine ers team.
Speaker 6 (06:40):
We had John Lynch the other day talking about how
Brock Perdy, Juwan Jennings, Ricky Pearsol, we're gonna be questionable.
Those guys ruled out yesterday, so much for questionable. So
the forty nine Ers, or the lack of forty nine
ers is gonna be a big part of this I'm
gonna look.
Speaker 5 (06:54):
At the positive. I'm Gonnaokt the other side of this game.
Speaker 6 (06:56):
I'm gonna look at the Los Angeles Rams and Pooka Nakua.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
Kyle Brandt has ruled.
Speaker 6 (07:01):
For don't talk about the MVP too early in the season.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
Really do man so, But I'm curious if I can
do the whole. He's on pace for why not? I
love on Pace guy.
Speaker 6 (07:11):
I had Mike, So we're gonna be on pace guy
because he is on pace for a historic season right now.
Speaker 5 (07:17):
I mean, if his production at.
Speaker 6 (07:19):
The quarterfall, we're at the quarterball, I feel like I
could do it continues. We're talking about one hundred and
seventy eight catches and twenty one thirty seven yards, and
Pooka Nakula has been down the field. He has been
hit at wide receiver screens, Like, how do you cover
this guy? You don't know if he's going over the
top of you. You don't know if he's breaking out
of what they call the seven route. You don't know
(07:40):
if he's catching it. And look at these numbers right here,
talk about historic. For the first thirty two career games.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
Poka Nicola has been sensational this year. And I can't
wait to see it. A nice speak getting that is great,
That is really positive.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
That is that is a good way of looking at
this game. And I want to watch.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
Pooka as well.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Isn't it nice for the Los Angeles Rams that Poka
Nakula is out there, healthy and running around as a
clean bill of help. I can't get over this. I
was trying to think about this game, Mike. You went positive.
Speaker 5 (08:07):
I'm not.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
I'm going absolutely negative because you know what I'm looking
forward to seeing tonight. I love brock Purty like watching
out now he's out. Brandon knighton out, he's out. In fact,
John Lynch is like, no, I's gonna be out for
a long time. You know we're close, all right. So
Kittle's always now, Kate he's out. Juwan Jennings he's out. Uh,
Ricky bout? What are we doing here? I can Jeffreys in.
(08:30):
McCaffrey's in, okay, and you know what you want to
talk on pace guy, Christian McCaffrey's currently on pace for
one hundred and thirty catches on there. That's not an offense.
Jerry Rice never had one hundred and thirty catches for
this team.
Speaker 5 (08:42):
Let me ask you something. Take a hot minute.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Does Kyle Shanahan scream into a pillow at night? Is
this organization still paying off some devil deal they did
in the eighties to win Super Bowls?
Speaker 5 (08:53):
What the hell is going on? You have your rough years,
you have your quote.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Unquote season from hell where the injuries just off stack up.
The rough here is not supposed to be every single year,
and it's like they are the Wiley Coyote team, except
it's Kylie Coyote every day. This man look at him,
that's a forty.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
Five year old man.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
He looks like he's born in nineteen forty five. Look
at that face, the beard, the gray, the leathery. That
man is healthier than half his lineup. I sympathize, but
he's such a great coach. What the hell is going
on with their soft issue in that town?
Speaker 5 (09:31):
And you know who I bet that man hates. So
he's just so sick.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Of Dean Rappaport, Mike Carrafolo, Tom Pellos because all they
ever talk about is all that man's toys are broken
and he's got to be get up this morning and
be like, oh wow, Jaden Daniels.
Speaker 5 (09:48):
Is cleared to play. Good for him? Good for him?
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Oh wow, Lamar Jackson is week to week. That's so sad.
Screw all those guys. I am so sick of this.
I think I'm the best coach in the NFL. All
of my toys are constantly broken. Shouldn't like isn't the
hey the one.
Speaker 5 (10:04):
With the old ass quarterbacks?
Speaker 2 (10:06):
His quarterback be hurt?
Speaker 5 (10:07):
Why is mine again? Why are we in a two separate.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Mac Jones starts like separated by health and then pulled
back off the field. I want to watch the Niners tonight.
I'd like to watch the real Niners that John Lynch
and Kyle Shannon have assembled. I don't want to watch
the replacement Shane Falco Niners against the real Rams.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
I'm so sick of that. I'm not the coach. I'm
a different.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Kyle, and I'm still mad about this. I sympathize with Shanahan.
Everything that he has built. That war machine is just
every single week, every single year, and I'm tired of it.
Speaker 5 (10:41):
By the way, Nick, yes, you go to the defense.
The defense will carry off. Robert sala Is back. Robert
sala Is almost.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Getting switch plays fights after the game, and the best
player on defense is out who's literally giving the thumbs
down before other players in the league were miming. Bosa
was like, Hey, kay, hey, Nick, how's it feel.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
Like?
Speaker 1 (11:01):
Unbelieve you are the weakest link?
Speaker 5 (11:02):
Goodbye?
Speaker 1 (11:03):
It's I can't believe already. Mike, Well, it's week fifteen, though,
that's understandable.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
It's weak flipping five? What are we doing? I hate
this for this team. We don't mean to laugh about
it because it's injuries, but you know, and it's not
to be funny.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
No, I'm curious, frustrated.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
I'm furious.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
I want the guys out there. I want to see
the Niners get over this hump and finally win a
Super Bowl and the oh they're gonna be pulling players
out of the stands.
Speaker 8 (11:25):
Yeah, I feel the frustration, brother, I see the frustration.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
I definitely do.
Speaker 8 (11:28):
I think if there's only one positive about this San
Francis before Niners, as far as personnel, as the fact
that you have probably the best linebacker playing in Fred
Warner in this game. Now, Fred Warners had to do
this with the revolving door at a defensive front. He's
had to do it without his best friend, Drake Greenlaw,
who's no longer there. He's in Denver. Tallinola Hufanga is
also in Denver. But fifty four continues to make plays.
(11:50):
So if we're looking for some sort of silver lining,
it has to be in the shape of in the
look of number fifty four for the for the San
Francisco Fort Niners.
Speaker 5 (11:58):
Guys.
Speaker 8 (11:58):
So I know there's so many guys out, but if
you're going to win this game, it's going to be
heavily on the shoulders and the right punch of number
fifty four, best line barker in the game.
Speaker 5 (12:07):
Fred Warner, thanks for.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Getting us back on the rails there, man, I appreciate that.
It's good to talk about again. Calleiaf Raymond back deep
for Detroit.
Speaker 5 (12:21):
Oh it's low kick, let's go go back. Check it
out to forty five.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Khalif Ravid go gord goer still.
Speaker 9 (12:29):
Go on the Todds to put to the workers touchdown
Cliff Rabbit long, Oh my daughter, the blocking was there,
the explosion.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
Khalif Raymond, he wasted no time using that speed getting
north and south and gets the touchdown for the Lions.
Speaker 5 (12:54):
That was fearless.
Speaker 9 (12:55):
Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
Then that was the Holden though, and he could have
run across the water to windsor Cana the way his
feet were moving. On Sunday, that was an incredible moment.
We were all on our feet watching Detroit extend their
lead over the Browns early in the fourth quarter. The
Lions would win thirty four to ten. But we want
to hear more about that moment and the return specialists
(13:18):
responsible for it. Lions are three and one guys, and
that's why we have Calif Rayman on the show. Did
you did you watch that highlight a couple of times?
Speaker 2 (13:30):
What was it like watching it?
Speaker 10 (13:32):
The highlight itself? I saw it just because we watched film,
but not Coach talking out was actually pretty cool.
Speaker 5 (13:39):
Cool.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
That's incredible.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
So Cliff, great to see you, Great to have you
on the show. We got to ask, though, after this
play you found your wife Julia in the crowd when
someone accomplishes like did you.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Already have her keyed in?
Speaker 3 (13:52):
Like there's so much going on, catch the ball, avoid tackles.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Oh, let me find my.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Wife also in the seat that she's in. How does
a special moment like that unfold for you?
Speaker 7 (14:00):
Oh man?
Speaker 10 (14:00):
So we've had a couple touchdowns in the stadium. My
wife always wanted to be a part of it, and
you know, it's really really cool. She has a bun
in the other and so this is possibly her last
game and that's what the family section is. So as
soon as I score it, took a little quick shot
and started down there.
Speaker 5 (14:15):
I was like, where's my wife? Where's my wife?
Speaker 10 (14:17):
And apparently the people we were sitting with, she was like, yeah,
you disappeared. She had a baby, But somehow she just
got down there before we even saw our leaves.
Speaker 5 (14:25):
It was really cool.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Well, I'm really happy for you guys, the whole family, everybody.
That's a really cool time. And what a great time
right now you get family football.
Speaker 5 (14:35):
You guys are winning.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
Let's get into Khalip the actual play, because we have
this beautiful shot from the stadium roof basically.
Speaker 5 (14:44):
Sixty five yards to the house. Just take us through it.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Just give us your behind the music about everything that
happened here, go.
Speaker 5 (14:49):
Ahead, roll the video. Oh man, that's pretty cool.
Speaker 10 (14:53):
Actually thought the ball is going out of bounds, but
I think Jack actually hit a similar ball in camp
and I let it go and it bounced. It was
like a fifty two yard punt. I was like, you
know what, I have a feeling this is going to
curve back in. But we've been hopping at the tree
all I mean for the past four weeks, like it's
barely getting inches. And I was like, man, the more
aggressive I am with the way these guys are blocking,
one of these is gonna pop and take a cut
(15:15):
to the right. I look downfield and everybody's blocks. Say
list takes out two people. Rocks got the last guy,
and I was like, man, look at this point, all
I can do is run fast and hope these hamstrings
hold up.
Speaker 5 (15:24):
And they barely did the last thing.
Speaker 8 (15:25):
Y'all about well tooping at the tree cleaves sounds like
something your coach would say, chopping out the tree, biting
that knee caps and some of the biggest questions come
into this season. I was surrounded after you guys lost
both your coordinators. Now I'm a big fan of coach
Dan Campbell for those people that have something to say
or what do you have to say about those who
(15:47):
may have some concerns still about the team after losing
both coordinators.
Speaker 10 (15:52):
I mean, I would say, man, we just we built
a tough culture here, and I think that is more
important to anybody. The guys in this room, the type
of players and the type of people in this room,
is worth the spot defonsas I think, no matter what
that versusy, no matter what the challenge is, when you
got that type of character that's going to approach each
eat the way that we do, the rest will eventually
take care of itself. And I think at one point,
(16:13):
you know, you just we just we're still good in constinuity,
but as we continue to grow, I think it'd be
a very successful season.
Speaker 6 (16:21):
Four US Dan Campbell said recently that our best players
are our hardest workers, the guys that practice the hardest.
I'm curious if you had to pick one who's the
hardest working, hardest practicing player on your entire roster.
Speaker 10 (16:36):
I'm in ros Saint Brown and it's not even close.
He says this down. Wow, No, And I mean, you know,
I prought myself on. They're putting everything, turn over every stone,
make sure I can put my best foot forward. And
this man catches two hundred and two passes after every game,
I mean, after every practice, no matter what. In the
last five years I've been here, I haven't seen him
(16:56):
miss once. He does this two hundred ads after every
workout hasn't missed once. He has a tennis ball thing
he does on Mondays, five hundred over the shoulder. Everything
he's doing hasn't missed one. I mean, he is h
he is bionic. I mean, but everything that you're seeing
on the way that he does on film, between the catches,
the routes, all that stuff, it is not by chance
because he leaves nothing to chance. I mean, he's the
(17:16):
hardest worker I've ever seen to this point, and I'm
nervous to training with them off season because I'm not sure.
So he's real do No.
Speaker 8 (17:25):
He's definitely the real deal, and we're all big fans
of him, and obviously his work is just a result
of his work.
Speaker 5 (17:30):
Off the field.
Speaker 8 (17:31):
Tell me a little bit about Jamira Gibbs and David Montgomery.
They seem to have a really good relationship with each other.
And it's very hard for a running back door to
split time, but it seems to be working for both
of them. Tell me a little bit about that relationship.
Speaker 10 (17:43):
Yeah, dude, dude, those high cared to guys to start off,
and I think that's that's a song for everything else, man,
But they feed off each other man, they add two
different dynamics to the game, and uh like even.
Speaker 5 (17:53):
That play there.
Speaker 10 (17:54):
Man, I'd ask a lot of people to watch David
Montgomery's film from the Backwar Angle because you don't actually
understand how many people he's making missed with his feet
before the play started behind a line of scrimmage. Man,
you that at that with Job's explosiveness and the character
that these guys bring, because that same characters would make
them go past block the way that they do, and
(18:14):
they're put people in their back. So man, it's a
high character group and they feed off each other. And
we get two guys like that that can feed off
each other. They're only gonna iron sharpers iron for each other.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
So, Cliff, it's really cool to hear you talk about
your teammates with such adoration. But you yourself are a
professional and a perfectionist when it comes to your craft.
Last year you hung with the same Brown Brothers on
their podcast, and there is one thing that you talked
about when it comes to being a prolific punt returner.
Let's take a listen to the answer, and then we
want to get into this.
Speaker 10 (18:44):
Oh goodness, I've been talking about so many kigures, bro,
So I to avoid them and it just don't work out.
So when I saw I think it was I think
it was Lean Lean was on the kicker.
Speaker 5 (18:57):
I was like, I'm good, somebody's on. That's the only
way you don't make the kicker miss.
Speaker 10 (19:00):
Like, bro, no, hold on, First of all, I tell
your about this every single time. So you're playing basketball, right, yeah,
uh huh. You see a dude coming through the whole
an in your height, what you're gonna do. You're gonna
move out the way and let him do his thing,
all right, but you said you got my height coming.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
What you gonna do?
Speaker 5 (19:16):
You're gonna try to send his junks to the opposite
side of the court. Happens every time.
Speaker 10 (19:19):
So when I'm running overturns kickers like I'm about the
latest joker out and every single time they give their
best effort.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
It's a perfect parallel cliff.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
Because anytime you get blocked in basketball at the rim
by someone who's like six foot and over, you're like,
that's not some big insult.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
You're clearly taller than me.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
But if you are the same size, I understand that
perfectly tracks. So how does one navigate avoiding the kicker
because you gotta keep your eye on so many people
on kickoff returns. What's going on with this tactic?
Speaker 10 (19:49):
You know what's crazy. I'm hoping that you tell me no, No,
it's just a lot of time. I've been trying to
cut back, and lately I've been seen a lot of returns.
Hey man, cut back. It may not always be the
best thing to do, but I'll tell you what. Jake
Bass two weeks ago had a huge tackle, Like, I
(20:09):
think they're not giving enough credit. And man, they like
bellco for me. And then a few times I do
something that good has happened. And last week just happened
to be a blessing. Oh man, I was nervous about.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
That there, and so philif you have an incredible personality. Man,
I'm glad that so many more people are learning about you.
Speaker 5 (20:28):
And your story.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
The story, though, is fascinating. Undrafted out of Holy Cross
and the Patriot League, and you've been through the Broncos,
the Jets, the Giants, the Titans, the Giants, the Titans,
the Lions, and you have found a home here that works.
It's great right now and you've been all pro twice.
Was there a time in that journey when you ever
thought maybe this isn't going to happen, maybe I should
(20:51):
hang up the cleats and if so, what changed?
Speaker 10 (20:53):
Oh yeah, I hope the out of town.
Speaker 5 (20:57):
But it was twenty seventeen.
Speaker 10 (20:58):
Actually, I remember walking off the field playing for the
Giants and I looked up at the stateum in mid life.
I was like, I think I just played my last
NFL game, and by the grace of God, the Giants
signed me to a futures contract. And I remember going
into the Oltas with so much fear, and I was like, look,
I can do one of the two things. I can
either kind of just quit a little bit, stick my
head in the sand, kind of just shy away from it.
(21:19):
Or I can give everything I possibly can and see
exactly who I am. And that's what I did, man.
So it was six workouts a day. I was catching
enough punts to where I had wounds on my chest,
all kind of things. But I was catching thousands of
punts and eventually I was like, my work's gonna outshiney
fear and anxiety that I have. And that's what it took.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
Man. It was a long joint.
Speaker 10 (21:41):
It's a side NFL a lot of people don't see.
They don't see the getting cut five six times. They
don't see the late night staying that extend to stay
in America just so I can. I can't boy because
I don't know if I'm gonna be there the next week.
So it's just like it's just a different lifestyle. And
eventually playing here and Detroit has been a blessing because
Damn is the type of guy like, Hey, I don't
care who you are or where you come from. I
don't care about your character and your work ethic. And
(22:03):
if you're you can put those two in front of
yourself and you can play ball. I'm going to give
you a shot. And that's what it's been playing here,
and it's a blessing because it's like that in this organization,
top down. So I really appreciate it.
Speaker 8 (22:15):
Well, if that's special, man, that that really is? Because
I had the same thoughts after I told my Achilles
my fourth year of like that's it for me, But
where does that resilience come from? I know where it
comes from for me, but where does that come from
for you? Because that's a special characteristic that not a
lot of people have.
Speaker 10 (22:31):
It was a lot of people that got me here
to this point had a lot of help with them.
But my mom, mister Lawrence, my mentor, my parents' brands,
family had a lot of help here on the way.
And if they're willing to put that much time and
effort into me, it's not fair to them to quit
them myself. So with that being said, I'm going to
give everything that I have that I know I can
(22:53):
give as a thank you, and that's the payback for
all the time that's putting to me. So that's where
lot of that comes from. Man, it's been a blessing
to have as much help as sorry.
Speaker 6 (23:01):
That is fantastically really is. This week, you've got the Bengals.
I don't know if you know this. The Bengals are
trying to assign to each section. You wear black in
this section, you wear orange in this section. They want
the stadium to.
Speaker 5 (23:12):
Look like stripes.
Speaker 6 (23:15):
But your fans are in the mentions and they're like, no, no,
no, no no, it's gonna be Honolulu Blue. How confident are
you that your fan base is going to be there
to mess up the whole stripe thing.
Speaker 10 (23:24):
They've shown up every week, every away game. It's been
some away games he played last couple of years. I'm like,
are you all sure this is a wave? Because when
you come out a ton of this sounds like a
home game, super confident. They show up everywhere. Man, you
have a great fan base.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Khleif you're awesome.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
I think we should do best Guests of the Week
on CMFB and I already gave it to you. And
it's Thursday. Sorry to anybody who's booked for tomorrow. Pleae Fraeman,
you're fantastic.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
Look at him.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
Go move the feat one two one two, and don't worry.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
I have faith in those hammis. I don't know what
he's talking about right there. Good luck with your impending
birth of your child. I mean we wish you guys. Man,
It's trivia time on GMFB.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
One week ago today, I was standing on the streets
of Dublin teeing up and hosting this segment about NFL
trivia questions in relation to Ireland or Irish or people
that are Irish last name. So sometimes we have to
reach far for this. This week, with the game on
Sunday morning being played from London, our GFB trivia topic
du jour is not French at all.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
It's actually London adjacent. All right, so bear with me.
Everybody's gonna have a question. And then there is a video.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Clue video go away that already gave away a clue.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
All right, here we go, Mike g you are up first.
Speaker 5 (24:42):
Stay hot, here we go.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
Arrange what you just saw. Mike g eure up first.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Former Eagles Super Bowl champion and Boise State product Jaya
Jaye was born in London. In twenty sixteen, with the
Miami Dolphins, a Jaii rushed for two hundred or more
yards in three games.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
What player has the record for two hundred plus our.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Games rushing in a single season. Did Derrick Henry do
it in twenty twenty is a Is it b Earl
Campbell in nineteen eighty see Jim Brown in nineteen sixty three,
or d Barry Sanders in nineteen ninety seven.
Speaker 6 (25:20):
I had Barry on my fantasy team that year, and
I remember a lot of big games.
Speaker 5 (25:24):
That Fantasy nine. Yeah, oh yeah. I came out of
the wold planning at everybody specific Jay and Johnny.
Speaker 6 (25:32):
By the way, it's fantastic that you mentioned that, because
that British accent would like come and.
Speaker 5 (25:36):
Go depending on the situation.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
I'm a fan of Adam gas if I remember a
lot of loaded quotes about that.
Speaker 5 (25:41):
Yeah, I am going to go. I'm going to go
all the way back to Jim Brown.
Speaker 6 (25:45):
Ian Brown did it in nineteen sixty because Barry's father
said Jim Brown with the greatest running back he ever saw,
which has kind of an insult to his own son.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
But although I would appreciate the deep dip into NFL
films context, it actually is.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
B Earl Campbell in nineteen eighty.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
Fresh off his nineteen seventy nine MVP season, Campbell rushed
for look at this pile, He's an MVP, and then
he actually went for another.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Great season after that, which is hard to do as
are running.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
Back nearly two thousand yards, the most by a reigning
VP and NFL history, and he had two hundred rushing
yards or more in four different.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
Games this season.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
He went forward against the Bears, Bucks, Bengals, and the
Minnesota Vikings. Well done, Earl Campbell, sorry miked, not on
the board, not great NANSI Europe, Come on, this is
this lock in, buddy, because you've been talking about this.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
Brian Flora's defense.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
Flora's is nine to one against rookie starting quarterbacks. As
you said, he licks his chops when he sees these
young puffs coming.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
This is both as a head coach and a defensive coordinator.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
This week, his Vikings defense will face Brown's rookie Dylan Gabriel.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
And his first career start.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Who is the only rookie quarterback to beat a Brian
Floras led defense? Is it a Trevor Lawrence, B Zach Wilson, C.
Mac Jones or D C J.
Speaker 8 (27:02):
Strout. I think you're playing the game with Okay trying.
Speaker 5 (27:08):
To make me think of him as a quarter.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
Interesting.
Speaker 8 (27:13):
So I'm gonna think as a head coach for the
Miami Dolphins, I'm gonna go.
Speaker 5 (27:21):
Here we go.
Speaker 8 (27:22):
Trevor Lawrence. Hey, Trevor Lawrence is y. I'm going Jamie,
give it to me, give me a point.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
He thinks it was an Inner Florida crime done.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Trevor Lawrence is correct. A Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
Ryan Flawrence has led Dolphins team twenty three twenty in
weeks six And of course this was played in twenty
twenty one at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, because the
Jack's always play over there, just so happens to be
where Dylan Gabriel is going to make his first career.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
Start this weekend, So maybe the tides.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
Will be friendly for another rookie quarterback against Brian Floris
this weekend.
Speaker 8 (27:55):
Otherwise is going to go ten and one tier friendly
for me right now?
Speaker 5 (27:58):
Game, let's go on the board.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Come In February of twenty ten, the Saints defeated the
Colts in Super Bowl forty four and took home their
only Lombardi Trophy. The Saints famously recovered a surprise on
side kick, as we all know, coming.
Speaker 5 (28:13):
Out of halftime Tank basketball.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
This is after which English band played the halftime show
right before that famous on sidekick? Is it a Cold
Clay b The Rolling Stones? See the Who or d Aerosmith.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
Aerosmith definitely not English unless we can take them out
from San Francisco. There nothing right, There's several several British
bands def Lepper.
Speaker 5 (28:45):
We could keep going. Aerosmith is from San Francisco. What
the superl is this year? That's okay, though I know
it's not them. Listen, cold Play was big then.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
This is but the answer here there was a run
around this era. There's certain halftime events that set off
the chain of halftime performers that will, shall we say,
a little more conservative and old fashioned, and that was
also including in that was Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend.
Speaker 5 (29:14):
Of the Who See Who.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
I hope Jamie and this question that we as a
show will not get fooled again?
Speaker 4 (29:20):
Is it the Who?
Speaker 2 (29:22):
It is the Who See That is correct.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
So The Who started in act in London, not the
Bay Area, in the nineteen sixties and eventually would become
known as one of the greatest rock bands of all time.
Even though people were up in arms about this decision.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Potentially if you.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Were in the younger part of the generation, two years
after playing the Super Bowl halftime show, they were the
final act of the closing ceremonies in the twenty twelve
Olympic Games in their hometown of London. So big time
event performers, longtime rock band people.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
They're beloved.
Speaker 6 (29:50):
So hold on, hold on, okay, people up in arms
about a Super Bowl halftime performer, you're kidding me.
Speaker 5 (29:56):
Can you, Mike?
Speaker 1 (29:58):
Can you imagine back then it was The Who, it
was Tom Petty and it was Springsteen. It was a different,
different planet back then. It's just a different thing. All
of it's great. I'm looking forward to this year's so
it was wildly different.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
Of course, correction is a fascinating phenomenon. Moving on, Giants,
legend Ocu Manura is one of the most famous NFL
players born in London. Also like top five kindest dudes
in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
I saw him in Ireland. He's just a great person.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
So just a just so symmetrical with the smile on
the whole thing and words yes. In Super Bowl forty six,
Umnyora's Giants defeated the New England Patriots. What happened on
this play? Is it a Tom Brady was sacked by
Linbal Joseph b There was a funnel return for thirty
three yards by Jason Pierre Paul See a fifty seven
(30:49):
yard pass touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski or d did
Chase Blackburn picked the ball off?
Speaker 5 (30:56):
Is this for me? Or is this a threat.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
Writer?
Speaker 5 (31:03):
I'm a beat writer of the team.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
All right, man Tay, you go first, then Michael Golask ahead.
Speaker 8 (31:06):
Okay, it's Tom Brady side with Limbo Joseph. I don't
think that humble. I'm gonna go because Mike ge said, right,
around be that he knows what it is. I'm gonna
say he saw something later in the list and he's
gonna go d interception by Chase black That's where I'm going.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
All right, Well, it's not going to be a Patriots
offensive highlight because there there weren't a ton of those.
So if you say Chase Blackburn, I will go I
love that.
Speaker 5 (31:35):
I love Big limbal Joseph. I'll not give him a
little bone and.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
Go for that.
Speaker 5 (31:38):
I'll say, Hey, Mike, tell us what you think.
Speaker 6 (31:40):
The entire season, the guys had issues at the linebacker
position and everyone was clamoring for the return of Chase
Blackburns like, where are they gonna.
Speaker 5 (31:49):
Sign Chase Blackburn? Where are they gonna sid?
Speaker 6 (31:50):
I finally signed him in like December after I lost them,
but they not lost to the Saints if I recall correctly. Uh,
this was a pass to a hobbled Rob Gronkowski at
a high aggle strain case Blackburn roll the video take.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
Let's do it. Let's listen to how and Chris.
Speaker 9 (32:08):
Here's Brady and Brady for the moment avoids the shack
slips away. He's gonna launch it deep and this morning
intercepted by Chase Blackburn. The linebackers all the way down
the field. That play is over at the eight yard line.
Chase Blackburn, a linebacker.
Speaker 8 (32:27):
Who was teaching school.
Speaker 5 (32:29):
Fifty yards down.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
Interception, Go ahead, got what were you saying?
Speaker 1 (32:36):
I just I'm looking at the guy wearing number ninety three,
fifty yards downfield, covering maybe the greatest tight end of
all time and making an unbelievable individual effort. That was
the story of those Giants, Patriots super Bowls, just heroes
coming out of their ears.
Speaker 6 (32:49):
And Chase Blackburn, Uh, you can watch him today or
you can watch at least his product tonight. He is
a special teams coordinator right now for the Los Angeles Rams.
Speaker 5 (32:58):
Shout off to Chase Blackburn.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
See so specific all right.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
The final little little tidbit here is that Ready only
threw six interceptions in his ten Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
Appearances, but the only pick that he threw in a.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
Super Bowl lops was that what Yeah, so it was
kind of like out, it's a double down on it.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
Well done, everybody. I think, Maantha, you won this round.
Speaker 5 (33:18):
Yeah, I think I did. Yeah, I think I did.
Speaker 4 (33:22):
Thank you.
Speaker 8 (33:22):
I appreciate it. I appreciate it. Thank you k B,
thank you, Mike Gee, thank you, sister,
